I've been thinking about the templars lately. they were promised honor, virtue, told that they would be charged with protection of the innocent... And then those same people are systemically exploited and abused, abuse others because they're taught to regard everyone else as either sheep who need to be lead or potential threats. Never equals, except in their brothers/sisters-in-arms. They act as the guard-dogs and military arm of an entirely different organization that they're only a functionary member of but have no governing say in. Even the chantry aren't their equals- they function as the templar order's supervisors! And all this isolation and closing of ranks ends in disability, addiction, death, and abandonment by the system they spent their bodies in service of.

To top that off, retaliations against them just confirm the paranoia they were taught to embrace. It's probably a long hard road to get out of that hole.

Like, listen. the dichotomy of mage vs templars is a satisfying and easy one, but the system is tearing them apart too. have you ever heard of a retired templar?

at the end of it, mages and templars need to unite against the real threat. the chantry.

i've seen a lot of dp fans in the dpxdc fandom talk about not having access to comics so here. it's completely free, good quality scans (for most things), basically any dc comic you could want is there. you should have an adblocker but the ads aren't the worst if you don't, just noticeable and annoying. you're not gonna get a virus, i've been using the site for years, as have many other fans.

if you genuinely want to read the comics, take advantage of the sites comic fans have been using. there's new and old stuff and everything in between. crossovers too. whatever you want to read, you'll find there.

i've mentioned it once, but Rainy had already been in a "family" before having met Wally, though through a mistaken number they ended up having a conversation over the phone!

Somehow they became telephone friends, and because of that Wally learned of Rainy's situation. He knocked out two birds with one stone with this information!

Rainy joined in a similar manner Barnaby did! So he doesn't hold any scars from Wally, but he does hold scars from his past "family", so he hides them with bandages, as those scars tend to open sometimes.

Since Rainy had provided Wally all the information to take down the gang he belonged in, he took the spot of being the Boss's Eyes and Ears.

(No one really knows that though, as he's usually seen with Frank! He overseas every deal, just to make sure things run smoothly of course!)

Rainy holds everyone in a high regard, he adores all of them unconditionally! To him, they mean the world to him, as they truly feel like family to him.

He does know how to fight, though admittedly he's not very strong, to balance this out though he is very quick! (his choice of weapon is a pocket knife!)

milgram prisoners "fur"sona hcs

haruka - rhetus periander butterfly! i think his dislike of animals would lead to him not really being comfortable with having a mammal, so i gave him an insect 1. because of muu 2. i think the colours match him 3. the butterflies in all knowing and all agony. 4. theyre found around forests and water :) (TO BE READ EVILLY)

yuno - rabbit, mantis, or lamprey! for rabbit it's because people tend to see them as just cute pets but theyre actually quite mean at times and a lot of effort has to be put into genuinely taking care of them. also the reproductive cycle theyre known for whatever. praying mantises yeah its the "eating their mates" thing, also because of her covering "sticky bug"! she also just generally reminds me of a mantis for some reason. lampreys because of "the vampire" and because draining blood, draining warmth etc. they also slightly resemble umbilical cords! fuuta - fire breathing dragon. its bright red. self explainable (salamander, fire...) but also because of his knight motifs! ive also considered a wolf for him bc i think it'd be funny if both kotoko and fuuta had wolves but i think him being a scalie fits more muu - wasp. she thinks its a bee that she's designed. she is wrong. wasp because of "its not my fault", the fact wasp species can be "social" or "solitary", and the fact wasps kill bees. i can also see the argument for just a bee though! especially since once bees sting you they die afterwards shidou - a bird of paradise :). double meaning with the fact it shares the name with a flower. also because i think being one of those rly fancy birds is just like him. "birds of paradise" also has origins in "birds of God". like "aesculapius"! and amane! some birds of paradise also drink nectar from flowers. i hope he flies into a window (ive also considered vulture, crow, raven, and dove (just because of 0507- shidou sees kazui tear a dove apart with his teeth and goes "god i wish that was me", changing his avian instantly)) mahiru - capybara!! friends with everyone even crocodiles. just having fun. classified as rodents (if i was mahiru's boyfriend i would have just eaten the rat rip to him but im different). those images of capybaras with citrus fruits on their head. also she just reminds me of a capybara generally kazui - cat! i dont think i have to explain anything for cat. he would have a nebelung cat specifically though. also hey did you know cats hunt birds- amane - cat as well. sorry. i actually dont really know what breed of cat amane's fursona would be- maybe abyssinian? some sort of tabby? mikoto - has two or three fursonas depending on if you're into the trikoto theory. theyre all very bright neon colours. mikoto has a greyhound, john has a jackal, "green" has an ibizan. all three of these canines are thought to be the inspiration behind anubis, egyptian god of taking care of the dead and acting as a protector for them. anubis is also described as a "gate guardian"! hey. hey wait a fucking secon- (i also just think itd be rly funny for mikoto to be able to merge fursonas with john + "green" and make cerberus) kotoko - i dont think you need my input for this one. go watch deep cover and skip to the end idk. i DO associate her with the hyper realistic 4k hd most beautiful art youve ever seen werewolf images specifically though. i like to think she'd be like "my wolf fursonas colours and design have to be REALISTIC. not like MIKOTO'S or FUUTA'S" and then she turns around and gives it red eyes and her exact hairstyle

Kaveh and Alhaitham, Sumeru Bulletin Board (over)Analysis: Part 1

(This is a reworked excerpt taken from my Haikaveh essay! If you're interested you can check it out here or as a pdf <3)

‘Lambad’s Tavern Notice’ posted on the Mahamata Bulletin Board tells of Alhaitham asking Lambad whether his order of wine had been processed. Lambad responds by saying that it had already been picked up by a “blond” person who claimed to be Alhaitham’s roommate, and that Alhaitham should already know this since the two frequented the tavern together “the other day”. This notice serves as foreshadowing of Kaveh’s status as Alhaitham’s housemate, although it is interesting what it implies in regard to their relationship.

Besides the information conveyed that Kaveh and Alhaitham drink together at the tavern (establishing a mutual regard for the other), the motif of communication, primarily miscommunication, can be observed here.

Kaveh and Alhaitham are operating on different levels of communication, and thus, they have missed each other. Rather than Kaveh informing Alhaitham upfront about him picking up the order, Alhaitham has to pursue other means of gaining this information, where Kaveh’s meaning is to be inferred, rather than directly supplied. Regarding their typical manner of dialogue, this aligns with their problem regarding miscommunication, in which true intent of words is concealed, and therefore unheard by the other, and misconstrued into a different perceived meaning (this is further discussed here).

The two are on unequal footing, displayed here by the concealment of truth, resulting in miscommunication, or a chance of successful communication.

The Bulletin Board messages serve as a representation of the standing of Alhaitham and Kaveh’s relationship and the discord between them which needs to be surmounted. This is exhibited within this bulletin board in the two ‘missing’ each other, in regard to Kaveh picking up the wine from Lambard’s Tavern without Alhaitham’s knowledge, and Alhaitham only finding out afterwards. The two fail to intersect in their communication; they are never fully understood in their meaning.

Mikoto time!! Thank you for the request -- I know it's risky posting headcanons so close to Double, but I'll come back and ammend anything that might be proven wrong on Wednesday 😂

🧸 A headcanon about their childhood: Through his early schooling years, Mikoto was present for a lot of extracurricular activities. He didn't always care/give his all, he just enjoyed hanging out with others and fooling around. The reason he can be such good friends with everyone is because he's picked up on tons of little things over the years by dabbling in all those arts, fields of study, sports, etc. Once he finds out your hobby, he can immediately retrieve some bit of knowledge/memory to get a conversation going, or even join in the activity. Mahiru is pleasantly surprised by his classic literature references, gardening club gets him on Shidou's good side, Muu likes talking to him about fashion tips, he can play sports with Fuuta, he tries to bond over band memories with Amane, and so on. When he was a kid he was just trying things out for fun, but as an adult he's grateful he picked up on so much.

💔 An angsty headcanon: He's accustomed to, and expects, bad separations. So many friendships and relationships ended on a very sour note, so now he's used to pulling away first. (There was no aggression or violence, but) the appearance of different alters followed by the host's insistent denials would make others think poorly of him. The more he claims ignorance, the more it seems like he's just gaslighting/manipulating, so there have been a few explosive separations in which he had no idea what went wrong. Because of that, it's been harder to get close to anyone, and he will start pulling away the minute things show signs of trouble. It's why he left the smoking group so quickly, and doesn't hang out with the other prisoners as often in T2. Instead of waiting for an inevitable fight, he ends things immediately and peacefully.

I've been thinking of that one piece you did with Faux putting on the Cyberhead esp what u put in the tags abt the idea that Faux comes back as Red postgame. I usually go with the theory/HC that an ai was made for red but your idea is super interesting.

like it would make sense for Faux to go by Red now bc outside of the law/police force the BRC, DJ Cyber/Futurism and the other rival crews most likely hate his guts now ( along with like the civilians that had to witness the events of the storymode ) i'd love to learn more abt this au/headcanon btw!

eyyy! i also share the hc that red comes back with an ai, its pretty neat! i kinda swap between the red ai hc and the red!faux one to be honest

i started thinking more about faux and just his overall situation and read waaay too deep into his character/actions so i became this while thinking about the hc/au

ill slap it under a readmore, unsure if its considered spoilers but it is post-game

so the idea is that after the game escher finds faux's head/body and put him back together. the two talk it out, and he gives faux the option to start new, much like how he did with red earlier in the game. knowing this is his last chance to finally get rid of his roots; to finally get away from the police, he takes it.

knowing that everyone hates him or is after him he dons a fake cyberhead from escher and starts a new identity. he hides away from everyone and never talks, not wanting to get close to anyone and be betrayed again (or to get involved with others, he doesnt need another target on his back). he slowly changes into a person who enjoys being a writer for the sake of it again like he used to, the chains of his past slowly coming off of him.

does he end up running into BRC or the other gangs later on? possibly, im unsure on how that would play out, although he might be given a chance if he seemed genuine in wanting to/has changed. (thats assuming they figure out its faux in the first place)
