The persona that Marylin Monroe portrayed to the public was essentially an act as she wasn't being authentically herself, but she can be used as a source of inspiration nonetheless. Diana Dors has been a new favorite of mine. My favorite 50s blonde bombshell has always been Marylin and although the two are somewhat similar looks-wise, Diana had more of an edge to her personality-wise.
