You know, it only just occurred to me that Noble Pokemon and Totem Pokemon are essentially the same thing.
Think about it, they:
Are much larger than average
Have much higher stats than avergae
Glow with a brilliant golden energy
Received this power from a deity
I really like the idea that any Legendary pokemon (which are basically deities in their world) can bless normal pokemon as their champions.
It also makes me think about the difference between psuedo legendaries and actual Legendaries: one might be as strong as (or stronger in some cases) the other but they can't bless other pokemon with their power because they lack the divinity which would allow them to do so.
Something to think about.
Edit: I'm going to keep talking about this because I like discussing it and some commenters brought up interesting points.
Meowstix said Illumina Pokemon from Snap were worth mentioning as they didn't receive their power boosts from Legendaries. I don't think I agree with that however.
Prof. Mirror hypothesized that the Illumina phenomenon originated from a comet that landed in the Lintel region. However, the mural suggests Illumina was a thing before that, which is why I believe the phenomenon originated from Xerneas, the pokemon god of life.
But even if it did originate from the comet, that doesn't mean the power did not come from a legendary.
Pokemon from Sword and Shield are able to dynamax because of wishing stars: shards that came from Eternatus, a Legendary from beyond the stars. Who's to say the comet in Pokemon Snap didn't come from a Legebdary similar to Eternatus?
Zorua-adorbale also mentioned that Noble pokemon only had golden light when they were frenzied. While that is true, remember that the energy which frenzied them also came from Arceus (albeit indirectly).
That does beg the question of why Noble pokemon don't normally glow like Totem pokemon. Perhaps it's due to the fact that Noble pokemon are the descendants of the pokemon originally blessed by Arcues. If the Tapus bless their Totems individually rather than allowing the power to be passed on through blood lines, that could explain why the power is more visible with them, they are the first generation as it were.
God I love discussions like these, I so rarely get to go into lecture mode.
-The genus name for the Meganium line is "Latecosaurus Aromus" which roughly translates to, "Fragrant Apatosaurus Lizard"
-Meganiums are related descendants of the Aurorus line, and are also related to Tropius
-Ancient Meganium looked really similar to current-day Meganium, since they didn’t need to evolve much to fit their current habitats
-Because of their friendly nature and cute appearance, Meganium are often used as a way for young children or people with anxiety to get used to larger pokemon
-Meganium’s long necks help them reach high leaves to wat, but it also helps them seem more intimidating to Pokemon that would try and attack them
-Their flowers have been used to make medicines and perfume for thousands of years. There are ways to get the ingredients from them without having to kill them
-Their flowers often attract bug-type Pokemon. Most of the time, they don’t mind them, as the pollen-like substance can grow back
-The flower can also release pheromones to other grass type pokemon that would view Meganium as a potential mate
-They're antenna also do the same thing. Please don't pull on them, as they're very sensitive and can damage those pheromones
-Meganium can be either monogamous or polygamous. It differs with each one
-Depending on the season they were born in, Chikorita, Bayleaf, and Meganium can look and behave differently. Summer Meganium are usually bigger, more vibrant, and friendlier, Autumn Meganium are more skiddish and have more warm colored flowers, Winter Meganium are smaller, have more saturated flowers, and tend to be lonelier, and Spring Meganium are the ones we see in the Pokedex
-Meganium's flowers can come in many different varieties of colors, with pink being the most common one
-Meganium will often lay Chikorita eggs in the ground and bury dirt over them, and then hiding the spot they buried them with a pile of leaves for added protection
-The most common Meganium crossbreed in captivity is a Meganium eith a Tropius father or a Meganium with a Venasuaur father
-They have very sensitive tastebuds and can taste food a lot better than we can
-They're known to be quite affectionate with their trainers and will rub their heads against theirs as a way of showing affection
Me: *takes absolutely the worst shot of a Cacnea anyone has ever witnessed*
(artist rendition because I do not save it, there was the top of a Hippowdon's head right in front of the shot, I have added him here for scale...I have realized I cannot draw Hippowdon)
Prof Mirror: OMG! What fascinating behavior!! This is a fantastic shot!!!
Me:....Oak would've shunned me into an early grave o.o you, sir are weak
y'all ever forget that your pokemon are not human sometimes? like, you hold them in the same respect as like, a chill roommate. sometimes i'll be talking about wanting like some juice and my inceneroar will just. hand me some and i'll go "thanks, man." and not even consider the fact that he's technically my pokemon.
What's your opinion on the research happening in Lental? Personally, I'm super intrigued about the Illumina phenomenon, and the photos being sent back are gorgeous!
OKAY SO I actually did a lot of research about the illumina phenomenon for a paper last semester and let me TELL YOU!!!! LET ME TELL YOU!!! The simple fact that there are Pokemon out there that are not only noticably docile and kind but also ****GLOW**** ?!?!??!?! consider me sold. I’ve got the meganium picture taped to my corkboard in my dorm

I'm struggling to name my own charmander, do you have any tips?
I want the name to sound natural for a pmd environment (aka not a human name)
Smol bits of character I have are:
- likes to fight
- acts first, ask questions later,
- bit of an airhead
- nerd
Oooh, this is a topic I love. Names are such a joy to tinker with when creating characters. I'll start out with a preamble on naming characters in general before getting into specific names I'd recommend for this charmander in particular!
Something to keep in mind about characters when you're naming them is who in the story is doing the naming. What is their relationship with the character? What is their opinion of them? What is their personal background? All of these things will influence the types of names your character might be given. The same is true if your character is naming themself.
(You can ignore these things if you want to free yourself up as you name your character, of course! I just find it helpful in narrowing down my miles-long lists of names I end up with.)
In the case of Twig, I knew Grovyle was going to name her, and that he was going to come from his grass-type background with most names he had been exposed to. He named her Twig because that's a common name amongst grass-type communities that implies smallness, youth, and on the namer’s end, a devotion and determination to protect the one being named.
Note that there's no such real-world implications in the English word Twig. It's more often used as a way to call someone scrawny and weak. The beauty of writing a story is that you can do what you want in it, and if you want the pokemon language to have a whole plethora of implications and connotations in their naming system, go for it! Just try and communicate it in the narrative somehow so that readers can enjoy it in full.
Alright, preamble over. Let's get into the names I've found after searching up “fire related words” and exhausting every online thesaurus known to man. I'm going to assume that your charmander character is named by a fire-type, likely a family member, which will center most of them around literal flames and heat, but I'll throw in some less obvious connections as well
Hearth. This name implies a more cozy, homey setting along with a tame sort of fire. However, it may be fun as a contrasting name for a hot-headed character.
Ember. A classic fire name, and one with a gentler sound than some of the harsher names below.
Spark. This might be a good name if your character has moments of brilliance despite their airheadedness— like if their nerdy streak has applications that seem to give them sparks of genius.
Pepper. An indirectly fire-related name, which may be given by a grass-type or its botanical root or a character who enjoys cooking.
Illumina. A name describing light— again, something that might be fun for emphasizing a nerdy streak!
Fizz. An onomatopoeia of a campfire hissing and crackling. It might be good for a character that surged up in their temper, but is quick to fizzle out. I think this one is really fun, but that's just me!
Wick. Like a candle wick. I love how this sounds.
Halo. This name emphasizes light and purity, and might not make much sense with its Christian implications in the PMD world. However, it could be used to refer to halos of light around the sun and similar things, which would negate that issue!
Aurora. I see this as being a name popular among both ice-types and fire-types.
Sol / Soul. Depending on how you spell it, this name is a reference to either the intensity of the sun or your character’s shining spirit. Or both, if you use some fun worldbuilding shenanigans!
Pine. A bit of a stretch, maybe, but I like the idea of referencing pine cones which release seeds amidst forest fires.
Mallow. Like the above, a reference to bush mallow and baker's globe mallow, types of plant that thrives in the aftermath of fires.
And finally, Lychee, at my little sister's recommendation!
I'm using the raid den method: my encounter for every Area will be the first tera raid I see. Beyond that I'm using the usual rules: if a pokémon goes K.O. I can't use it anymore and I have to name all of my pokémon. My starter will be randomized.
Lore-wise I'm still using my oc Lumi as my protagonist but this time it's a AU: the NuzLumi AU
for reference the one on the left is the original Lumi and the one on the right is NuzLumiAU!Lumi
Introducing Depot Agent Krill!! They're a redesign of an old trainersona I created last year (I'll put them under the cut) and just. holy shit this was fun to draw. The formatting portion... not as much. BUT I think it worked itself into something quite nice!!
Transcript:Top Text - Depot Agent Krill
Bottom Text (Left) - Team: Stormy, Prince Tinks, Ebb, Opal, Ampersand, Schooner
Bottom Text (Right) - Krill is a recent member of Gear Station's depot agents!! They were a former Team Plasma Grunt with their twin brother before a fight temporarily separated them, and during that separation Krill traveled between Alola, Paldea, and Lental before ending up back in Unova. They eventually picked up pokemon photography as a hobby and grew an interest in the illumina phenomenon, both of which they continue to research even after they return to Unova. Despite their complete lack of adherence to Gear Station's dress code, they still work fairly diligently in the station and try their best to cooperate (although they have the tendency to be a little bit catty.) They work in both ticket agency and subway battles.
