Okay, I've seen SO many posts calling Sapnap a shit friend and calling his reaction to the Spirit-speech a betrayal and I gotta make this clear. Sapnap "leaving" Dream wasn't a sudden thing, it wasn't JUST about the Spirit speech, and I think he was COMPLETELY justified.

The friendship between Sapnap and Dream had been starting to fracture LONG before the exile conflict. Sapnap had previously been shown to be scared of going against Dream, and Dream hadn't exactly been nice to him. For instance, during the Pet Wars, Dream led Fundy and Niki to Sapnap's pets, and outright handed Mars to Tommy for blackmail purposes.

The Spirit-speech didn't suddenly make him believe that Dream meant Him Specifically when he said he didn't care about anyone. The Spirit-speech was Dream tripping on the curtain, forcing Sapnap to rethink his opinion on Dream, and coming to the realization that yeah, the guy who repeatedly fucked him over with no hesitation and without ever apologizing for it probably didn't value him as a friend. So he went to Tommy for a second opinion.

I should also add, Tommy and Sapnap were friends by this point. Tommy wasn't just some guy Sapnap vaguely knew, he was a friend that he trusted, and valued the opinion of.

The most important point however, is what Sapnap actually wanted when he asked Tommy whether or not Dream actually cared about him. Sapnap wasn't looking for Tommy's honest opinion, he wanted Tommy to confirm what he was already thinking. Tommy initially hesitated, and tried to say that Dream did care, but Sapnap cut him off, telling him to just be honest.

Sometimes, you know deep down that a friendship is toxic. Sometimes, the only thing keeping you there is this idea that you're the only one seeing it, that it's just your brain being dumb. Having someone else voice what you're already thinking can be the push you need to leave, and for Sapnap, the conversation with Tommy was that push.

Sapnap "formally" cutting Dream off happened at a moment that pretty much confirmed everything he'd already been thinking. Dream was in the middle of dethroning George for not being "neutral" enough (AKA, not wanting to sit on the sidelines while Dream "solved" all his conflicts for him), and dismissing his genuine upset by calling him a baby and saying he was just being dramatic. When Sapnap accused him of not caring, Dream blew him off with "Of course I care!" and then went right back to making decisions for George and ignoring his input.

And yeah, I think Sapnap is wrong in thinking Dream doesn't care, because I do think he cares, and I don't think Sapnap and George leaving him was something he'd planned. But here's the thing: while Dream absolutely cares about people (sometimes in really fucked up ways but whatever), he doesn't trust them. Not in the sense that he's constantly looking over his shoulder, but in the sense that he doesn't think they can handle making decisions about their own lives. He's also got no qualms about betraying or hurting his friends without apologizing or showing any remorse, and then just continuing on like nothing happened. By this point, he'd also likely started buying into the "attachments are a weakness" line of thinking (likely informing his decision to not try and mend the friendship) and was orchestrating the exile-conflict with the full intention of abusing Tommy into compliance.

Thing about friendship is that it's a two-way street. If you take and never give, people aren't gonna wanna hang out with you. And yeah, disagreements and misunderstandings can happen, but when they do, there's something that exists called talking it out. If my friend came up to me and said "i dont think you care about me", I'd go "woah what the hell made you think that?" and sit them down and talk about it to figure out what the actual problem is. It could be miscommunication, rumors they've heard about me, mental illness giving them paranoid thoughts, or maybe I had been shitty and should change my behavior.

Dream never tried this. He just said "obviously I do care", and then never showed it. After the Spirit-speech and George's dethroning came the conflict around Mexican L'Manburg, which didn't exactly improve Sapnap's opinion on Dream. Then came Doomsday, where Sapnap was still debating whether or not he wanted to side with Dream... And then Tommy came along, genuinely apologized for treating Sapnap badly in the past, gave him Mars back, and then asked for his help. Dream never even talked to Sapnap before Doomsday, so of course Sapnap chose Tommy over Dream.

And then about a week later, Sapnap walked into the vault of attachments, where Dream was about to imprison and murder two of his teenaged friends, and had an entire hallway full of everyone's most valuable items, INCLUDING Beckerson and Mars.

There's a saying that nobody goes from 0-100 instantly. If they do, you've just been underestimating how long they've been at 99. The Spirit-speech wasn't the catalyst to Sapnap leaving Dream, it was the final straw.

Alright curious anon here. All this is /dsmp /rp from here on out unless otherwise specified and is refering to characters. If i make any mistakes or am misinformed please let me know! So by the cat was nothing compared to mushroom henry i was meaning more toward the fact that the cow was killed as a punishment for something not worth or ok for it to be killed for at all and the fact that it belonged to tommy, wheareas the cat was killed more to annoy dream and belonged to tommy. Dream also did not seem to mourn the cat much, shrugging it off with a "just more motivation to break out".

it was killed to hurt dream, not to "annoy him". it doesn't matter who it belonged to, c!dream was attached to it and it died, which had an effect on him and also further proved his point about attachments being weakness and caring getting you hurt, and it's still very sad.

you say that it was not ok at all to kill mooshroom henry, but the cat's death wasn't ok either, so i really don't see your point.

again, i disagree it was "nothing compared to" either way. i never meant to compare them in the first place, i was simply talking about the cat and c!dream so i don't see why it is in any way necessary to drag c!tommy and other dead pets into this. /nm

also, it isn't true he didn't mourn it. he is a very reserved person who doesn't show his feelings much, that's true, but the cat death still changed the way he acted afterwards, as well as the attempts he made to prevent it. he didn't "shrug it off", he yelled about it because he was understandably upset.

You mentioned that propganda was used to make dream seem like a tyrant, could you specify a bjt? Cus im a little confused srry /gen. Because the most i can remember from the lmanburg era at least is him being called a b'tch or other similar insults. You also mentioned how trauma responses can be differet which is true! I agree! Do you have any ideas to what caused dream the trauma?

wilbur would continuously make him out to be some sort of oppressive, tyrannical force, in front of his troops - a prime example of this being the lyrics of the l'manberg anthem itself and the l'manberg declaration of independence.

i also said in my previous post what could've possibly caused it, but since the character intentionally hides his emotions from the public, it would be difficult to see how things really affected him - which is why the way his spiral went is the majority of the evidence that would imply it, however it does make sense within the story as well with what i mentioned last time.

I would like to note that for sapnap at least had reason to leave dream. Some examples off the top of my head are dream leading an angry fundy to sapnap's pets on purpose, resulting in some deaths, dream assisting tommy in burning down sapnap's effiel tower where he got engaged to karl, and dream giving tommy either mars or the other fish at the battle of the lake. Idk about george tho other then the whole mexican lmanburg/el rapids thing and decrowning him

c!sapnap was actually at fault for most of this, and it wasn't really ever betrayal on c!dream's part.

c!dream is a mediator and he wants to stop everyone's conflict - c!fundy was angry because of c!sapnap's actions, and hence it made more sense for c!dream to centre him on c!sapnap's animals instead of running around killing everyone's pets (at that time, all c!dream knew was c!sapnap did something really bad and c!fundy wanted beckerson / mars from him, which were also his and c!george's fish).

c!sapnap was an instigator, and in multiple conflicts during the time as well as before he'd align himself against c!dream. he isn't "loyal" per se, he causes chaos and the reason c!dream helped c!tommy was because, c!sapnap, again, killed his pet. the first l'manberg war and then the 16th are signs of the fact that c!dream and c!sapnap were willing to fight together in actual war, but these small conflicts where c!sapnap continuously picked fights weren't about personal loyalty, nor did they seem to affect their relationship at all.

c!george was never really hurt by c!dream either. the dethronement was him very obviously being a guilt-trippy drama queen, but, well, that's just the character. he had stolen the l'mantree while he was supposed to be the diplomatic figure of the greater smp, which is why c!dream was justified in - very politely, may i mention - taking the duties off of him (seeing as he was also trying to keep him safe and c!techno had already assassinated him once).

Im pretty sure i remember cc!sam stating that his character never canonically physically tortured dream during his subathon but take this with a grain of salt as i am looking for the clip currently. So to the best of my knowledge dream did not have a physical contact trigger during tommy's visit which! I rewatched the vod and dream actually was first to hit tommy and i can give you my full writing downs but 10/12 of the phy-

i am 95% sure that the reason cc!sam stated this was because people were suspicious he had already been doing what c!quackity was doing after - torture within the storyline itself is associated pretty much only with what c!quackity is doing, so that's what he meant, just to clear up confusion - the starvation or terrible conditions haven't been retconned, but it was direct torture (like c!quackity is doing) people were asking him about.

i never said c!dream had a physical contact trigger at all, i don't think he had that, though he probably will after the torture.

huh, ok, i'm gonna have to rewatch then, but i remember c!tommy punching c!dream a lot and him just telling him to stop and only punching back to get him to stop. trigger or not, getting hit isn't very pleasant, if you know what i mean.

You mentioned tommy stealing dream's armor unprovoked. Do you have the vod or a general idea of the time so i can find it? Like before lmanburg after another event so and so because if you do not have it i can find it but any help is appreciated.

I wanna talk a little on why the Final Control Room was so messed up. For starters, with the way the room was designed. It was small, and had labeled, empty chests with each person's name on them as a mockery. The next reason is that its bascially a kill box.

It's fairly inescapble with the stairs being ones you have to jump up, slowing anyone who climbs them down. The final reason it is messed up is that it is shown to have caused every person who died in it trauma. With tommy there are several examples, the time he saw it with techno, the way he refuses to go near it, the exposure trauma, etc. Fundy also appears to have trauma, as when the Red Banquet executions began, it can be seen as him being afraid of dying last again.

It can Be thought as tubbo having trauma because he buries most of his issues and pretends to be ok. Moreover this event took at least one of each person's canon lives, making it the most canon lives lost EVER in a dream smp event. (This is not hate on any of the ccs btw i loved this scene and its one of my personal favorites). Plus the fact Eret's betrayal just literally happened, giving at least Tommy and Wilbur canonic trust issues.

i wouldn't call the chests mockery? it was a trap. people had traps on the smp before. it was a trap in the middle of war, supposed to end said war by killing them all at once rather than individually which would be a lot more bloody and difficult.

i agree c!tommy and other people might have post-war trauma, especially if they were young during the time, but i think that's because the final control room was "messed up", moreso because the war itself was. it all happened fairly instantly as well? i don't think c!fundy would be able to realize he was the last one standing within the two second before he wasn't.

it "can be thought" and it can be interpreted like that but besides c!tommy there isn't much evidence for them "all" being traumatized by the final control room. of course betrayal would spark trust issues, i understand that.

The probation was humiliating in my opinion because dream was Sending tommy anatgonizing messages through out the whole meeting, plus he had to write a review of his day every single day, which fundy mocked him for.

i mean, it was definitely a strike to his pride, but he was being extremely uncooperative so i don't really blame the other members of new l'manberg trying to teach him to listen for once? of course i know c!dream was riling him up, and that should definitely be considered. i don't think it would be as humiliating if c!tommy didn't make it, is what i'm saying.

for the tommy being toxic to fundy? At least for the examples you gave, to me personally they come acoross as either in a meta way being the cc's bantering or in canon being the characters having banter. If you can send the post with the clips so i can read the tone better that would be cool but if not i will try and find em.

no, these were all in canon. canon isn't only when c!tommy is being nice, it's also when he's being a jerk. /lh

the first one was him threatening c!fundy about kicking him out of l'manberg and undermining his self-worth, and the second one was him trying to get c!sapnap to vote for them via bullying c!fundy.

i found these from a transcript focusing on c!fundy's character, so i don't know exactly where the first one is from, but the second one i am pretty sure is from when the elections were starting with the whole cabinet battle deal and all of that.

there are other instances, and all of them are canon. his personality was never being nice or compassionate, so i'm not really surprised? he still cares about the people he cares about and is very brave, y'know. but this part of his personality is definitely a valid reason for people to dislike him.

Curious anon here one point you may wanna include in the redemption essay is that c!tubbo or c!tommy do not necessarily have to forgive him. What's important is that he recognizes what he did was wrong (exile, beating tommy to death, manipulating them both, etc) and does his best to make amends. Hope this helps! Allo curious anon here sorry if the lots of asks bother you. I was just curious if i could share an interesting post i saw today about c!dream :0 (not necessarily negative i think? More of a statement of an often-confused canon)

sure thing! i don't know what you mean by often-confused since, the entire fanbase is very confused always, and often selection bias plays into the perception from both sides, but sure :]

you also sent in a thing for the other anon who said they didn't know what c!dream did that bad; pretty sure they couldn't really be alerted since, not sure if they watch my blog that closely, but i'll summarize your points just in case and add some notes;

the repeated blowing up of l'manberg (in my mind that's largely a positive since i,, despise that country, but fair enough), revealed c!ranboo as a traitor (they seem to be friends so i also,, think that might've been planned between him and enderboo), sent ghostbur away (i don't think c!dream knew it was dangerous for him and wanted to actually hurt him, but idk), participated in fighting against c!sapnap when he killed people's pets (that's only negative against c!sapnap and didn't seem to hurt him much at all), and then the whole vault scene where he was allegedly planning to steal people's things (though saying he would & being stopped beforehand and doing it are two different things, frankly).

so i still agree with the other anon that a lot of the hurt he did "to the entire server" (he only negatively interacted with like,, a half of them) is exaggerated both by the characters and the fandom, but i guess that's a consequence of most people seeing him as a threat to everyone's happiness rather than a complex personality.

Also he was aware of the butcher army going to kill techno but only got involved because he saw an opportunity to get a favor. (As he knew in advance due to him telling techno to get a totem, watching from afar instead of interveing or manipulating tubbo out of it)

i don't understand this at all, i'm sorry. how do you know he only helped techno in order to get a favor? last i remember he was only doing it to protect and strengthen his alliance, and techno came up with the whole favor thing entirely on his own. you might've not watched techno's perspective or their prior interactions, idk, but this really is a misinterpretation in my eyes. /nm

VOD: TommyInnit Speaks To Dream’s Sister AGAIN

(rp): Drista!! I love this chaotic child and am looking forward to seeing the children bully each other lmao. I especially love the mythos around Creative mode, and that the most benevolent god on the Dream SMP is just as likely to ban you as hand you a shulker box lol.

I do wonder how in character cc!Tommy is going to be able to stay during this stream: on one hand he’s a master at staying in character even during lh moments, and on the other Exile arc is some Dark Shit and Dristas like what, 14?? Overall I expect this to be one of the lighter streams, with a smattering of moments where we remember that, oh right, Tommy’s pretty actively suicidal at this point and he sees this as one of his last hurrahs.

Speaking of our boy Tommy: it's very clear we are getting closer and closer to the infamous pillar. He switches rapidly between Fight and Fawn reflexes and has mostly internalized Dream’s treatment and conditions at this point. The one stand out moment being him calling out Dream killing Mexican Dream last stream, and pointing out he was changing his story even when Dream tried to lie and say he died of “a drug overdose [...] or natural causes”. I’m curious if Tommy is going to bring it up again, and even more curious if he eventually believes Dream about it; something to watch out for, for sure. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this moment of rebellion happened right after he had someone both stand up for him and spend time with him that wasn’t actively hostile or going to end (supposedly, at least by intention)

Hello. I have another scenario that I’d love to see for someone visiting Dream. Instead of Captain Puffy, this one is Sapnap. 

The energy is different with Sapnap. He’s nervous, hurt but most of all he’s angry. He spends half an hour arguing with Sam about not being able to take weapons in.

Sam: He can’t harm you. There is no need for a weapon.

Sapnap: it’s not for protection.

Sam: even more reason you shouldn’t be allowed to take it in.

Sapnap: Come on Sam. He was going to take Fran. You can’t let me take this in?

Sam: The rules are the rules, Sapnap.

Eventually he dumps all his stuff, signs the waivers and makes his way through the prison.

The edge to his anger fades as they pass through each section of the prison. Less from fear of how vast this place is and more from the exasperation of how long it actually takes to get there. Was it really necessary for him to be weakened? For him to set spawn numerous times? Was this necessary for him?

He grumbles the whole way.

Then standing in front of the lava he sees the name tag. His stomach drops, gut clenching and his mouth dries. Sapnaps hands ball into fists.

Sam: Ready?

Sapnap shakes the tension out, trying to be casual.

Sapnap: Yeah, of course.

He steps onto the bridge.

Dream stands at the edge of his cell, mask still covering his face, his body language unreadable. Sapnap puffs out his chest, trying to give himself confidence more than anything. Once he steps off the platform, the lava begins to fall again.

Sapnap: Dream.

Dream: Sapnap

Neither moves, neither speaks. Tension settles around them. Dream sighs.

Dream: Well, what is it? Are you searching for an apology too? What words will calm you down?

Sapnap: Seriously?

Dream: What?

Sapnap: I just, you, you fucking bitch.

Dream: that’s the best you got? Oh come on now Sapnap, you’ve got better than that.

Sapnap takes a step forward, Dream doesn’t flinch. He vibrates with fury. Dream was stuck here, Dream had been out there by them, he was the weak one, he was the fucked up one, he was the one that hurt them, him and yet here he was, cocky and arrogant. He’d lost! Why was he acting like he was winning!?

Dream: You here to say something? Punch me? Or are you going to just stand there stuttering. I’d much rather swim in lava if that’s the case.

Sapnap: Fuck you. Fuck you!

Dream: Ah! Here we go! Finally some entertainment. You going to try one on one? You and I both know your skills are no match for mine.

Sapnap lunges at him, Dream shifts slightly moving to the side. Sapnap crashes into the books. Dream sighs slightly, knowing he’ll need to clean that up later. Sapnap is quick to turn, grabbing a book and launching it across the cell, smacking Dream on the back of the head. Dream grumbles, grabbing Sapnaps arms and flinging him to the side. Sapnap ground himself and punches Dreams face, sending the mask flying. There’s a wild look in his eyes, causing Sapnap to falter, unsure of who was standing in front of him. Dream takes the opportunity to lunch back. They grapple with each other, both landing punches but the fight is evenly matched, it does not seem like either one will win soon. Sapnap pushes Dream against the wall, his words spitting at him.

Sapnap: You were my friend! You were my brother! From the beginning, the Dream team! But what, a child, some objects meant more to you than us!?

Dream kicks up, kneeing Sapnap in the groin, regaining the upper hand.

Dream: It’s nothing personal! You’re too close minded. Cutting ties was the only way to stay in control.

Sapnap practically growls as he tackles Dream to the ground.

Sapnap: control of what Dream! Control of what!? Look at where you are! Where has this gotten you?

Sapnap pushes himself off the ground. Their fight finished. No one won.

Sapnap: I’d have gone to the end of the earth for you man.

Sapnap barks out a laugh, turning to face the green eyed man. It’s a sad laugh, almost defeated. Dream drops his gaze, shoulders a little slumped.

Sapnap: what the fucks happened? What the fuck is all of this? When Punz was rallying us, I was hoping, praying that when we got through you three would be making peace. That somehow through everything you and Tommy would have seen clarity. But no. You were about to kill Tubbo! TUBBO!? What’s the kid done to you? And then your sick gallery? With our most prized attachments? I don’t know who the fuck you are Dream. Fuck.

He slams his fist down on the bookcase, blinking furiously, trying not to cry. He doesn’t want to cry in front of Dream.

Dream: you should go.

Sapnap: what?

Dream: you should go. You’ve monologued. You’ve had your day. Just... go.

Sapnap surveys the man. His confidence and coldness from earlier has faded. He looks small. Dreams eyes shift to Puffys picture, Sapnap follows his gaze. Something clicking in his head.

Sapnap: No. No I’m not leaving. Why’d you want me to leave so bad? Huh? Why’d you want me to go?

Dream: Because I do not care about you Sapnap. You being here is ruining my peace.

Sapnap: Bullshit. You care. I know you do because you can’t look at me right now.

Dream: Oh come on. Now you’re talking trash.

Sapnap: No it’s true. Me being here hurts you because you were stupid. You lead yourself down a path you can’t come back from and instead of asking for help from me, from George, you doubled down in stubbornness, determined that was the only way. Doing it by yourself was the only way! Well we could have helped you! We could have solved any issues together. And you know that’s the truth. You know you fucked up and you know I am right and that’s why you cannot look at me! That’s why you don’t want me here! YOU KNOW IM RIGHT-

Dream: SHUT UP!

Sapnap and Dream glare at each other. This is the closest they’ve been in months and yet the furthest. Standing at two opposite ends of the world, unable to reach the other. Through the anger, pain shines through both men. Sapnap knows he’s right but he can also see Dream won’t back down, at least not yet.

Sapnap: whatever man. Fine. I’ll go. I’ll be back with George another day.

Dream: George?

Sapnap: Yeah. He wants to see you. He’s just not ready yet.

Sam: Stand in the water Sapnap.

Silently Sapnap stands in the water and is suddenly in front of Sam. Dreams name tag is barely visible through the lava.

Sam tries to make small talk as they make their way back through the prison. It’s clear he heard everything but Sapnap barely gives any responses.

As he steps out the prison he’s greeted by a figure hovering around the entrance. They jump as they see Sapnap. Their mouth hangs agape, eyes wide in shock, as they stare at the bruises forming in Sapnaps face. He tousles the Brits hair, causing the goggles to fall down slightly.

Sapnap: I started it.

George: Oh. How is he?

Sapnap: I dunno.

George stares at the prison.

Sapnap: Sam might still let you in.

George: No. it’s fine. Um, I think Quackity and Karl wanted to build something for Mexican L’Manburg, wanna come?

Sapnap: Of course.

Both give a mournful look towards the prison as they head off, between them grieving the loss of their friend, brother.

paloma’s cards and water

my latest creative writing assignment! adding onto the next series of my vignettes! involving my oc andrew as the main boi. u can find them all here  this one is a lil long but my prof really liked it so im happy w it. rest is under the read more! id be so happy if anyone reads this slkajf inspired by tarot reading, my grandma, and that one chapter in the house on mango street w the tarot reader 

I was on the first floor of my building getting the mail when I heard my downstairs neighbor sweeping her entrance mat.

“Buenos días, m’hijito.” Her voice was like the strum of a guitar.

“Buenas, Señora Paloma.” I replied. I gave her a quick glance as I skimmed a letter about my academic probation from last semester.

She set the broom aside and looked up at me.

“Ah, so formal now that you’re older, and taller too. You’re always getting taller and taller.” I’m only five foot six, five foot eight when anyone asks. “I haven’t seen you too much lately.”

“Oh, disculpe.” I crammed the envelopes into my messenger bag. Most of them were junk anyway, like dollar store advertisements or auto companies offering me a car loan. “I’ve just had a lot on my mind, a lot going on with school and work and everything.” I closed the mailbox unit.

“Ay, perdón, Señor Ibarra,” she teased. Somewhere after I turned eighteen, I went from calling her Mama Lola to using formalities. “Do you have some time, actually? I need help with something, si puedes.”

I checked my phone. I had work in an hour. “Sí sí sí, yeah, whatdya need?” I cracked my knuckles. Usually, she just wanted me to move furniture or get something from the top shelf of her kitchen cabinets, like the blender she used during the summer to make watermelon juice. Her oldest son also bought her an iPad for Christmas three years ago when he visited from Buffalo, and I’ve memorized the passcode after troubleshooting it for her so many times.

Paloma waved me inside her one-bedroom apartment, two floors directly underneath my family’s. We lived in an old house with four floors that probably used to belong to one rich family in the nineteenth century but was now broken up into several apartments. Paloma’s door was the first one on the ground floor across from the staircase. Her apartment always smelled like dryer sheets, and the television was always on some Spanish talk show, and water was always boiling over the kitchen stove because she didn’t trust the pipes. The yellow walls were adorned with Mexican folk paintings, plastic floral garlands, and family photos attached with Scotch tape. In every corner there were figurines of Catholic saints.

A few years ago, I asked Paloma to watch Sofi and Eli for me. I had tickets to see The Strokes at Madison Square Garden and only that morning did I double check the date of the concert. My mom was at a student’s piano recital, and I agreed a week earlier to watch the girls that night.

I was carrying Eli in one arm and held Sofi’s hand with the other outside Paloma’s door. The girls were four at the time, so I just gave them each twenty bucks to never say anything.

“Hmm!” Paloma lifted her eyebrows and crossed her arms. “And you think your momma won’t find out?”

I thought about it. “Well, don’t tell her.”

Paloma laughed, squinting her dark eyes like a fox.

Thankfully, Ma’s train got delayed on the way home that night.

In Paloma’s kitchen, two Devil’s Ivy plants sat in the sink with their vines trailing over the edge, hesitating to touch the tile floor. On the left was the glass door to her own small patio, where a few stray cats lay across the concrete. Paloma pointed to her wooden breakfast table, leaving her broom aside, so I pulled out a chair.

She sat down across from me, laying a purple and gold silk cloth between us and placed two tea lights on each side.

“Oh, is this what you wanted me for?” I sat up, surprised. She tied her long, gray-brown hair into a bun.

Paloma has never tried to use her cards on me before. I was never interested in these things. Hemera was the one who came to visit often after her break-up during freshman year with this film studies major, Vladimir, who played the accordion and was originally from Portland. Hemera and Paloma would lean over the tarot cards, speaking low, like candleflames. I usually sat on the couch and watched Looney Tunes, since Boomerang was one of the only channels on Paloma’s television other than the news or Telemundo.

“How’s your friend?” Paloma asked as if she read my mind. “Is she your girlfriend yet? Or has she found someone?” She pulled out the deck of cards from her apron pocket and shuffled them.

            “Oh, no, she’s okay. She’s doing okay.” Hemera told me two weeks ago she was “focusing on herself” which meant she deleted Tinder and would reactivate it within the next week. “And nah, she’s like a sister to me. That’d be weird.”

            Paloma watched me. “You cold?”

            “What? No…” Well, now that she mentioned it… ‘Actually, yeah, kind of, maybe.” I zipped up my wool sweater. Was there a breeze?

            “Good.” She spread the cards out with her delicate hands. “That means the spirits are here.”

            “Uh, okay. Sure, Paloma. They are.” I tried not to sound too sarcastic.

            I closed my eyes and hovered my left hand over the fanned-out cards, mimicking how Hemera used to do it. I tapped three random cards and Paloma flipped them over.

            She read them out loud. “El ermitaño, la rueda de la fortuna, y la muetre.”

            The late February sun casted a soft glow over the kitchen like a dream.

            “Your past, present, and future cards.” Paloma’s tone shifted into something softer, as if her words descended from the clouds. “Ah, look at you. Always keeping to yourself, always, always. Like the old man here on the card… alone on the mountain, holding a lantern trying to illuminate his path.”

            I tilted my head.

            “Right now, you’re in a critical position. It’s a marvelous position to be in! See all the arrows on the wheel going in all directions? They can lead you anywhere. You just steer the wheel like the helm of a sailboat and go wherever the wind takes you. How exciting!”

             I leaned forward. I examined the card that depicted what looked like a large, gold coin covered in strange symbols and surrounded by hybrid animals and angel figures.

            “And here, look, don’t be afraid of this last one. Everyone’s always afraid of this card, but don’t take it too literal. This card means transformation, it means upheaval, it means purging, it means endings.

            I picked up the card, fixated on the small boy kneeling before the skeleton-knight riding a white horse. I put the card back down.

            “This sounds… vague.” I leaned back in my chair, half skeptical and half on edge from her reading, but I didn’t want her to know the last part. “I thought you’d tell me something terrible would happen, or something like who I’m going to marry or whatever. Not that I would believe it, but I’m just wondering why you wanted me here right now.”

            Paloma smiled and crossed her arms. She’d been expecting this reaction. “It’s not like that. It’s not a math test, like in school. There are no right or wrong answers here. I know you don’t like that. Frustrating, no?”

            “Yeah, a little.”

            “Half of the work is you. It’s like looking at art or reading poetry. You’re participating. You’re drawing your own conclusions.” She placed the deck back into her pocket. “You have to marinate on the words, m’hijo. Everything will reveal itself.”

            I took a deep breath, swung my bag over my shoulder, and checked my phone.

            I had work in five minutes.

I can’t imagine these guys on anything that comes close to society’s definition of a date

It’d be more like “hey you wanna come on this hunt with us?” “maybe, depends if there’ll be snacks” or like chilling in Spence’s room binging the entire star trek: original series in one sitting or “oops sorry about that level 11 entity that attached to my soul and is now wreaking havoc in your house, wanna make out later to make up for it?” “Fine but you also have to play three rounds of Call of Duty with me afterward”

They wouldn’t be romantic often but like highkey? I can see them throwing themselves into the line of fire for each other with a recklessness only they could survive

We can’t forget that Spencer is a more than 60,000-year-old overpowered demon/god/entity/thing, which, yes, could throw a slight wrench in this ship for multiple reasons, but I choose to make angst out of it instead.

Side note: Ghost is a chronic conspiracy theorist (and you can’t tell me otherwise) and every once in awhile Spencer will offhandedly say something like “Y’know I helped the Egyptians build the pyramids” and Ghost just goes fucking feral.

Look, I’m not saying Spencer IS touch-starved and most likely has issues creating and developing relationships and therefore avoids interpersonal connection, especially offline, but I AM saying he is prime material for it. (thats a lie thats exactly what shes saying don’t believe it) (I’m projecting okay dont judge me) (loser imagine projecting)

Imagine with me for a second: Why does Spencer willingly stay with a family who locks him in their basement with only minor complaining? He’s a near all-powerful entity just released into the world for Spence’s-sake - If he wanted to, there’s no telling what havoc he could wreak! So why doesn’t he? Why would someone so powerful, so terrifying, so dangerous that a group of people decided to seal him away forever stay with the first family he finds in sub-par conditions for years - especially someone who’s seen to be as high-maintenance as Spencer? Let me hit you with a theory: He’s chasing the feelings of validation, safety, and love - no matter how rarely it’s shown - that a family can provide. Being socially isolated for even a few years can do a number to a person’s psyche (I should know, I’m projecting onto this character right now), let alone thousands.

Now maybe Ghost can’t match thousands of years in isolation, but damn if he doesn’t have a few years of crippling loneliness on his record too.

I can see the two of them learning how to be vulnerable around others together, emotionally and physically; learning how to open up and how to talk through issues; and some third point, because points are better in threes.

(May I suggest that these losers are both trans but thats just me adding in my own projection lmao)

They totally feed off of each other’s stupidity (but this could be seen as a pro too so take that as you will) as well as anger - im talking one-upping each other kinda shit

Its ridiculous honestly how intense it gets, like they straight up need intervention sometimes because they dont realize they can just STOP

Conclusions:

I think this would be a relationship that would that a lot of time and hard work to make work, but i think in the end it would be really super cute!! Like it would make no fuckin sense to anyone else but somehow they’d understand each other and help each other through their similar issues. Also theyre both big nerds in different ways and i think they’d have just ranting sessions back and forth over and over and it would be soft!!!!! So yeah, i think it would work, at least, i want it to :D

So. Maybe?? I feel like it could, but they’d need to work pretty hard to make it healthy and not constant fighting. Could be stupid amounts of cute and wholesome but also could be stupid amounts of oh no and pain, depending on how the two act. If they learned how to get along with each other and work past their differences it could be super cute and soft. Just a very, er, bumpy beginning. And middle. And end. GOD I KNOW ITS BEEN ONE MILLION YEARS SINCE IVE BEEN HERE, I HOPE YOURE DOING GOOD BTW, BUT THAT ENTIRE TOMMY STREAM-- holy shit. holy shit. first and foremost, it's canon that schlatt, wilbur, Tommy, and Mexican dream were all together for a time but at some point schlatt "fell asleep" and if im remembering correctly- something happened very soon after that or it was a consequence of something that schlatt might've done that resulted in Tommy losing track of time. Tommy gets back and IMMEDIATELY gets interrogated by dream over what death was like?? If anyone else was there?? THE WAY HE GOT SO EXCITED WHEN TOMMY MENTIONED WILBUR?? Tommy was busy having a panic attack the entire time while dream realized he was a god in every sense of the word on the server, ultimately Tommy's and everyone else's distress is meaningless what could possibly be worse than death? And even then you'll immediately be brought back...

Also are we gonna??? Talk about how Tommy was WILLING to go along with dream, his actual abuser, and be his friend or whatever- IF IT MEANT WILBUR DIDNT COME BACK?? SUGGESTING WHATEVER WILBUR DID OR IS NOW, IS FAR WORSE THAN DREAM COULD EVER BE. It's also supported with Tommy repeatedly telling dream he doesn't know what Wilbur is capable of and that he's "soft" or "weak" compared to him. Dream is weak, the very man that has orchestrated two wars, dealt with schlatt, flawlessly manipulated nearly the entire server, cut off any and all attachments for power- this is weak compared to Wilbur, and im once again terrified for the entire server.

(Ignore how dream said he could kill tubbo and bring him back and also Tommy crying out for Tubbo, Phil, Sam, Fundy- yeah im gonna stop)

HELLO HELLO, I HOPE YOU’RE WELL TOO! You can’t imagine how happy I am that Mexican Dream being in purgatory with Schlatt and Wilbur is canon. Dream should really revive him too (or alternatively, Mexican Dream just crawls out of there simply because he can) but let’s be real - Mexican Dream is too superior. He might be scared to bring him back and for good reason (NO BUT FOR REAL PLS. I MISS MEXICAN DREAM AND MAMACITA SO MUCH). ANON, OH MY GOD. When Dream just went ‘Tommy. Tommy, wake up’ I was legit like what the heck is actually happening here!! I truly believe there is a revival book but the fact that Dream has all that power without it?! And without being assisted by something else (like, idk a Totem of Undying or something)?! That just makes him 10x more terrifying IMO. He can essentially have everyone in his hand but I’m curious - if he has his last canon life taken away, would he be able to bring himself back? And more so, how many lives is Tommy at now? All 3? Only 1?

Dream’s excitement about Wilbur was actually spine chilling and I can’t WAIT for him to be back. If Wilbur will also be the villain of this season, I’m here for it.

I reaaaaaaaally hope Tommy will be able to say what exactly happened in purgatory for him to make him consider being friends with Dream than bring Wilbur back. Remember when they found out Dream could bring people back and he actually seemed pretty excited about it? Oh boy, this took a 180 turn. Looking back to all events, it’s genuinely terrifying how Dream was always somewhere. I was rewatching a few Techno streams and during the festival, Dream was just at the far back; then, during the revolution, he was very much on the side. In the meantime, every single one of these events were manipulated or orchestrated by him. Dream is a fantastic villain and while I’m also terrified for the server, I’m SO excited for all these new and upcoming revelations! 

The other person I’m really looking forward to developing on the lore front is Foolish. His lore stream was so interesting and I’m curious to see what rooms he’s been hiding from us that will potentially assist in the fight against the Egg. ON THAT NOTE, it’s so excited to know that apparently, that’s in the final phase. I can’t wait to see what will happen to it.
