💦Uni AU 🔸Friends with Benefits🔹Lust at First sight
“Meeting you, I think.”
Louis moved just the barest amount closer. He could feel the gentle swish from Harry’s movement in the water around his own legs. “What about me?”
“Dunno,” Harry said, his hand skimming against Louis’ forearm just briefly under the surface. “The way you laughed when you could have fallen down twenty rows and gone splat. I thought, I want to know him.”
“Because I could have fallen to my death?”
“Because you thought it was funny. You bumped into me and you apologized like you barely felt bad about it, which should have been rude, but it wasn’t.”
Louis’ foot brushed Harry’s ankle and then his hand bumped Harry’s. “I didn’t feel bad about it. Best thing that had happened to me all day, if I’m being honest.”

not to like wax poetic about the literary nuances of Black Fucking Butler but i feel i need to point out how insanely campy it is. oh okay cool the butler is throwing butter knives at people with guns and winning. we're battling undertaker's zombie army by starting a boy band (we actually got the idea from the ZOMBIES' boy band). theres a curry making competition and its so important it needs an entire volume and a continuing motif dedicated to it. the Grim Reaper Death Gods are all cornballs with gardening sheers. the contradiction. the unintended irony.
i think the manga is like. toeing the line of camp. like its silly yet takes itself so seriously but its not too silly. my immersion is not broken by the silliness. but the anime is uncharted levels of camp. what the Hell was going on with pluto. you're gonna look me in the eye and tell me the phantomhives own a fifty foot dog thing and no one has noticed. simply one hell of a deer. ice skating. theres opium in funtom candy. the queen of england is maybe a little girl. speaking of which, the city of london just burned down. yeah the whole thing. the fifty foot dog was there too.
it's so ridiculously out of left field and the fact that none of the characters seem to notice or care feels like being gaslit. camp so visceral it's causing psychic damage. i am constantly begging the narrative to break character just once and acknowledge its silliness but doing so would negate the lack of awareness that makes it camp. its dated and timeless. an absolute milestone in camp history.

you are sick (and you’re married) byler / 5.1k
“Will, I love you very much,” Max starts, “but there’s no way your weird little coffee shop freak has a girlfriend.”
“His name is Mike,” Will says, because he would know, because he’s the one that’s been writing Mike :) in sharpie on his to-go cups for the last six months, “and he doesn’t have a girlfriend. He has a wife.”
Will’s favorite regular comes in with a girl. Clearly, they’re married.

Hi I noticed you have been in the deathnote fandom for a long time. Do you know some changes the fandom/ships went through? I already know that the misogyny towards misa used to be terrible
Thanks 🙏
Hi! Yes, I've been here a long time lmao
So from what I can recall things have actually stayed pretty remarkably the same when it comes to the popularity of the ships and dynamics in this series. Lawlight has always been the most popular ship, followed closely by M2 (Matt x Mello). However back in the mid/late 2000s it was different in terms of certain things, like the way the ships were referred to. For example, there was no such thing as a nickname for a ship as a whole back then - you didn't call it "Lawlight," you called it either "L/Light" or "Light/L." You had to specify which of the two you liked as the top by putting their name at the start of the pairing. They were treated almost like they were two entirely different ships, and people would definitely get upset if you weren't terribly careful about specifying this when posting shippy fics and things. This changed sometime between 2009-2012, maybe? Possibly around when "Brangelina" and celebrity couple nicknames like that became a thing in pop culture, lol. I am personally glad things are no longer this fussy about labeling and defining the ships, because I find it dumb and possibly a bit offensive towards gay folks to be that obsessive about their bedroom dynamics above all else. But I definitely still see people get very particular about their preferences for this stuff when it comes to their discussions of the ships these days too, so I might be the odd one out here.
Overall I'd say tolerance towards diversity of the pairings and appreciation of the more minor characters has increased? Stuff like pairing L with Matsuda or having het ships like B x Naomi wasn't terribly common back then, from what I remember. People won't hate on you and fight with you as much for daring to enjoy depicting the characters with somebody other than their fave in a story or a piece of art nowadays, either (like "how dare you pair L with somebody other than Light!" - this was a very common thing to hear back in the early fandom days, and people would often act like you were "cheating" on a character by shipping them with somebody other than the character they decided they belonged with.) And fans have also started showing more appreciation for the female characters and attempting to be more inclusive toward them than they used to be. There is a bit less hatred of characters like Near and more shipping of him now as well. Many people were extremely dismissive of him back in the day, and he has definitely grown in popularity over time.
In general I think the fandom has chilled out and diversified and become more tolerant and deeper and more accurate with the characterization in its discussion of the series overall, but I still often will see the exact same takes and trends and tastes and arguments going on now as I used to see back in 2008. Especially when I step outside of the Tumblr bubble and back into a broader/more casual group of fans talking about the series and their faves.

i really think the latino purists are so fucking dumb. a while ago i expressed wanting to reconnect to my indigenous heritage as a mexican person because i believe reconnecting and honoring indigenous ancestry is critical to decolonialism. and what did i get? a bunch of latinos angry as fuck because I dont “look” indigenous or that i’m too white to be indigenous, or that im just a byproduct of United Station culture and that Im a watered down mexican. Turns out from a recent dna test that almost half of my makeup is indigenous american, both Native North and Mexican indigenous. Of course the other half is portugal and Spain, but holy fuck was I happy. Finally I know that I can make the first steps to honoring that part of my ancestry, even if I will never find out what tribe or groups of indigenous people my family is from. the point is that im making those first steps, and I genuinely believe decolonization starts with learning about any and all indigenous ancestry that you may have within your family. Even if that ancestry is not positive, whether from colonization or slavery. Having that knowledge is powerful, knowing the tribes, learning their names, how to pronounce it correctly, familiarizing yourself with that culture...how is that not more important to other latinos? we come from colonization, and we seriously have to start joining our indigenous communities in honoring their presence now and in the past.

Have to shoutout how insane wondercheetah content is to me as a wonder woman fan who hasn't read any of the more sympathetic (etc) stuff towards Barbara because like guys. It's so surreal. Like ik this is the case with many comic characters bc of like conflicting canons and stuff but seeing posts of Diana and Barbara Minerva being all dramatic with their broken friendship and nebulous lesbianisms really is so hard to wrap my head around. Like last I read Cheetah was fucking Zoom to get superspeed how do we even get here
