Having emotions over the fact that Kingdom Hearts as a series is probably the closest thing in mainstream media (to me, there of course might be more out there but like it different because its a product of major IPs) to like, aromantic and asexual themes and queerness being so intertwined with its 'friendship prevails' and 'forging connections' messaging.

Like. Yeah, theres the disney couples, and whatever the hell might be implied between characters like Kairi and Sora or Namine and Riku, or even Riku and Sora. But that's the thing, its not confirmed.

Like, sure, its enough for normies to maybe connect the "boy and girl therefore couple" despite how little there is to fall in line with that expectation because it takes so little for allos to believe in romantic love, that just a girl and a boy who care about one another yet barely speak is enough to confirm it.

But theres also, so, so much evidence against it too, if you just look to the side for a second.

Like, there's no big confession, there's no kiss or proposal of some kind (i mean theres the paopu but, im pretty sure they both have two separate fruits rather than one,) they have more characters in their lives to care about then just themselves, and maybe its the aro in me but they have like. Barely any chemistry and feel more like far away friends, where they left impact on one another but have an awkwardness/unfamiliarity between them.

And like, yeah, I think reading Riku as gay on his own- or both he and Sora having romantic feelings for one another is totally valid, esp considering how much is centered between their relationship.

But... It also... Warms my heart to just know they love and care about one another... Intertwined... But it could be entirely platonic. Not strictly as Brothers or Lovers but something else, be it best friends or queerplatonic partners or something entirely else that drifts between all of those labels.

They just care. And that's enough, thats valid, and its celebrated.

But what gets me the most, even if its not explored a lot, is Sora and his connection with everyone and his other heartmates (Xion, Roxas, Vanitas, Ventus). He has cute friendships in every world! He's friends with so many different people who are always happy to see him and invite him to comeback, always happy to help him if he needs it while he visits so long as it was within their power (the various disney characters) as if he has a home everywhere he goes, he's not actually bound to any one place.

Which yeah, that might seem sad to people. The idea that Sora might not have a definitive home because hes been changed so much on his journey, so much hardship.

But that's kind of mean to think, isn't it? Sometimes people loose their childhood homes, but that doesn't mean you can't build an even better one elsewhere. That doesn't mean you should be bound to any one place, maybe his home is just his friends, any and all of them- wherever he is, so long as he's with anyone he cares about it'll be home. And if his friends aren't there?

He'll make more, not because he's replacing them, but because he just has so much space and so much love for the world around him. He's willing to keep expanding his horizons and making more connections, more homes so he'll never be homeless again. Does that make sense?

It might be hard in 4, whatever will happen to him in Quadratum, but thats what its about; how he'll recover in his darkest hour while relying on what he's learned and being himself but improved.

The fact that Sora has gone to so many worlds and made so many friends- something Ventus wanted to do so bad, and yet. He carried Ven and took him along for the ride while he was resting. To me its heartwarming, Ven may be asleep, but he's not being abandoned, he's right along with him enjoying it in his dreams. Sora's not alone with his companion even if he doesn't realize it.

I always define my gender as "We as in Me but upside down" or "the sum of conversations and experiences shared with others, including myself" because i usually use "we" to refer to myself (not here for simplicity's sake) I dont need romance or desire to be a person, or to enjoy life. I'm never alone, even if theres no one in the room. I get that from Sora, y'know?

How Xion and Roxas spawn from him, I'd wish we got more between them. But just knowing how much he wanted to save Roxas, Ventus, Aqua, Xion, Vanitas- he helps the people who both are and aren't him, or make up who he is or reflect- he care about them. And its because he cares about them, that he cares about the people they care about.

Sure, if he didn't have some connection to Ven and therefore Aqua- he'd still try and save her because that's just how he is. He cares. But at the same time, it means more because he knows how Ven feels, thats his friend, and therefore, Sora's friend. He doesn't care if he's ever met her he just jumps at the chance to save Aqua and hold onto the small thread tied between them. Same with Xion.

I'm sorry, I'm not making much sense, am I? I'm not good at articulating my thoughts. But the fact that he uses any small connection as an excuse to get closer to someone who means a lot to someone he cares a lot- it makes my heart flutter! I wished all the people i cared about got along and were friends with each other too. I wish I could visit and rely on people from all across the world too, because i would never want to settle in any one place if i realistic could. I'd keep my loved ones safe in my heart if they needed it, if i could, and carry them wherever I go, hoping to share all the same pleasant experiences. Or I'd be fine splitting pieces of myself, just to keep me company to know what I must look like outside of my own perspective, to know how else i could inevitably change into another person entirely to meet up and compare lives later, enjoying the differences.

I wish I could offer a chance at something better to the same face, to say; i see your anger and your path refuse to think its okay to be self-destructive, now come home. And my brighter, happier self, to get the happy ending i deserve by saving myself while also being a friend to myself. Waking up from the bad dream at last, to enjoy an awakened life full of connections.

But I cant, and thats okay, my life is one I enjoy regardless, but Kingdom Hearts... Is in many ways- the ultimate aromantic and asexual fantasy for me. And maybe even a few others.

Freaky Fusion rewrite.

Well.. The prologue to be precise.

For context and stuff, I'm setting Freaky Fusion AFTER Ghouls Rule.

With the final scenes of Ghouls Rule being changed.

We go from the party to a lone figure walking away.

It's Holt.

He smiles and waves to the crowd but his smile doesn't reach his eyes.

And his hand is shaking.

I know it's completely out of character but given the circumstances I find it much more believable.

And that's Holt missing the big Normie Monster party.

He's not ready to be around the people who tried to kill him not even like a few hours ago.

Holt is walking away but not out of the school. He's making his way down to the Catacombs.

With the party taking place in the gym.

Every step he takes makes the sounds of the party grow more and more distant.

If it wasn't for the music in his headphones it'd be silent.

The music though isn't something that would be considered Holt's usual style.

Because it isn't.

He takes out his I-coffin and it's Jackson's playlist that's playing.

It's Somewhere only we know by Keane.

Holt slumps in a corner, back against the wall and tears are in his eyes.

"Here goes nothing..." He whispers.

As he begins typing on his notes app.

Thanking Frankie for showing him it.

"Hey"

To his relief he doesn't have to wait long.

His fingers are moving, but he's not moving them.

"Hi"

Something in him settles, a tension he couldn't put a name on.

"Are you okay?"

Holt snorts but it comes out as a sniffle, tears rolling down his cheeks.

"I.. Thought I was..."

He can't get the words out.

But he doesn't have to before a warm feeling surrounds him.

Like he's being bundled in the worlds softest blanket.

The song is louder.

Calling him.

Like a hand through a maze.

And Holt closes his eyes, he follows it.

And finds his room.

Their room.

Split in half down the middle as it had been for the longest of times.

And yet Holt didn't need to ask if he could cross because Jackson met him halfway.

Arms wrapped around the other as tears rolled from both their cheeks.

The weight of everything was crumbling around them.

They wouldn't have just lost themselves if they hadn't survived.

"I'm sorry"

"Your sorry? I'm sorry!"

"Well I'm sorry more!"

They looked at each other and smiled.

The first genuine smile either had made in a long time.

For the first time, they saw each other.

Truly.

And neither wanted that to go away.

It would take time, take work.

But..

They stayed like that for a while.

Just having the other nearby in a way neither had appreciated till now.

Until Holt was shaken back to the Catacombs.

By a terrified looking Heath.

Whew! I DIDN'T FORGET YOU!!! It was an INSANE weekend at work...and I'm burnt. Plus, I like to write my fics and answer asks at my desktop computer and not my phone (fat fingers are clumsy).

Ahem...ok for the Goth Thing:

It's really just about the music. That's it. I mean SO MUCH has evolved and developed since the first wave of that "genre" music appeared on the scene back in the 1970's (Post Punk) underground. Even some bands labeled as Goth now didn't see themselves as such back in the day.

This next list has a lot of good Goth music, with some songs not necessarily in that genre, but close enough that MANY in the community love them. And, some of them showed up before the movement even started (a few after to help with it's evolution), but definitely helped to establish the genre later on (ahem...David Bowie). Btw Marilyn Manson is NOT Goth. However, a LOT of us still love his music as it fits with our dark aesthetic...and remember when I mentioned David Bowie? Well, I am quite sure he helped inspired Marilyn Manson. His Mechanical Animals album certainly looks as it was influenced by Bowie. But, I digress, again... This is just a start on your musical journey...a stepping stone.

People will tell you that if you don't dress or present physically a certain way that you aren't Goth. NOPE. You can dress dark and spooky and edgy but not be Goth. You can dress like a pink princess or "normie" and be Goth at heart. When us older Children of the Night were coming up we did a LOT of DIY (do it yourself) and wore a lot of things you might not consider even Goth. There wasn't the depth, breadth, and easy access of things available on the market like today. We were poor, felt different, non conformist, and just looking for community. That's another hallmark of being a Goth: community. Because back in the day someone might do a violence on you for looking weird (Wearing all black back in the day was seen as extremely socially deviant. ESPECIALLY in small town US or conservative UK/England. People literally were afraid of or hated us. Our brethren: The Punks, Rastafarians, Metal Heads, Rappers, New Wavers (prejudice was doubled if you were a person of color, a different sexuality/gender, poor, etc.) experienced the same thing in society. Then came along The Satanic Panic and OH SHIT what a pain in the ass that was! And The "Moral" Majority crap...) I digress: we were looking for people like us, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO LOOK EXACTLY LIKE US. Just a bunch of nice, supportive people who got together to listen to music, dance, support the local bands/talent, and try to make it another day. You will find this in the FANDOM, LGBTQ+, and Communities of Color as well...and they overlap.

The presentation is secondary and up to you on how you want to look. You can do it up the max or just be simple in black. My favorite person from back in the day, who really doesn't specifically identify as Goth, but hung heavily in the scene back in the day: Neil Gaiman. The guy who gave us the character of Death from The Sandman Series, published as I was coming into my own Baby Bat phase (based on a real person named "Cinnamon"). Me, I go for "Lazy Goth". Everything black (even at work-black scrubs) with occasionally printed tee or a dark jewel toned piece of clothing. Usually I also mix in the Punk aesthetic too (I love the music and put patches on every damned thing). Punk is scruffy and imperfect, not fussy. I like comfort and ease of dressing. Especially in hot weather. And, I don't do a lot of face makeup, especially being older. Plus, I rather like my olive toned skin. Not every Goth needs to be pale. Google Goth People of Color. Beautiful and amazing looks.

Beware of Gatekeepers. Gothier Than Thou's. Don't let them crush your spirit. There is room in this subculture for everyone. If a particular club, group, or individual sets that tone, just move on. That shit ain't worth it.

(sorry if it doesn't make sense)

Isekai AU - Levi

His brothers did not get the appeal of otome games. But for Levi, they were amazing. In the games, he was smooth. He used the in-game lines and had characters falling for him left and right. More people loved him in-game than loved Asmo IRL! Especially in his favourite game, Heed Me! But his favourite in-game character was you. You, unlike all the other dateable characters, weren’t a total normie. You invited his character to watch shows and play games and made references to non-copyrighted spoofs of stuff that he always understood. He was in love. And best of all, you liked him back. Urgh, and when you got jealous of the other dateables for spending time with him? It was weirdly attractive seeing you indulge in his sin. But, in typical otaku fashion, you were just his 2D crush.

You also loved otome games. Specifically Obey Me. It was just so fun, seeing demon brothers and literal princes of Hell fall for you to the point you were practically running a shadow government. But your favourite was the nerd who’d blush whenever you went near him. He may call you a ‘normie’ more than he called you by your name, but he was still adorable. You wouldn’t even mind sleeping in a bathtub with him! Even though you did not understand how his back survived that every night. It was probably the Ruri-chan body pillow. Sadly, however, the game was only that. A game. You couldn’t win the heart of a blue-haired otaku outside of the pre-written lines that made him swoon.

Until, of course, you woke up one day in a council room with some random redhead telling you you were in the Devildom. And after a lot of expletives, and a serious mental breakdown when you wondered if you were going insane, you’d almost gotten into the swing of things. Except for the fact that it was surprisingly difficult to talk to your now concerningly 3D crush. Why was he avoiding you so badly, dang it? The script says he’s meant to fall for you. He didn’t even challenge you to the TSL quiz. Which was especially hurtful considering you’d binged the series since arriving here and were now fandom-fluent in it. Though, to be fair, it was probably for the best that you hadn’t talked to him too much yet. There’s no easy way to approach a man you’ve read fan-fiction about.

Of course, little did you know that Levi was having the exact same issue. What in Diavolo’s name were you doing here? And, more importantly, why were you 3D?! He could barely even look at you without turning bright pink and running in the opposite direction, much to the amusement of his brothers. But what was really worrying was that you seemed to be making an active effort to try and talk to him. After a very long time spent gathering his courage, he decided to approach you. Maybe you just looked like the character from his game, after all. Maybe the only reason you’d been seeking him out is because you wanted to borrow one of his DVDs. Yeah, that was probably it. There was no way you were a self aware otome character come to life to mock him for being in love with a fictional character. Hopefully. He really hoped being isekai’d into his world wouldn’t allow you access to his browser history. He did not want you reading the fan fictions he’d read and/or written.

“Hi, MC!” He said, waving you into his room. Oh no. He knew.

“Hey, Levi. It’s nice to meet you.” Diavolo this was awkward. “Oh, is that Henry?” You had always wanted to meet Henry.

“How did you know his name?” Asked Levi, paling. He’d mentioned having a pet in the game, able to type in the name of his pet. You couldn’t really be that MC? But there was no other explanation! There’s no way his idiot brothers would waste time with you talking about HIM. You were panicking.

“You mentioned it before.”

“Nice try! I don’t talk to people.” He spluttered. “You’re from Heed Me!”

“Whaddya mean? What’s Heed Me!? You’re from Obey Me!”

It took a solid hour of explanations, halfway through which you happened to spot one of his posters of you that he’d forgotten to hide. Man, the 2D you was hot. Apparently Levi had a crush on your character, who was a streamer in an otome game called Heed Me about a demon summoned to Hollywood who lives with a group of celebrities in various industries. It was nice to know that in at least one universe you were famous.

Its my city now ive been thinking about oc dynamics for the other brothers. I decided toto recycle some old fandom ocs from my preteen years bc its both funny and thematically appropriate.

The only new ones are like wendy and suzi. Suzi is sorta not new but so completely revamped and wasn’t ever really developed anyways.

I have to figure out like actual names for two bc they’ve only gone by nicknames. I also thought it would be fun to have more cartoonish/surreal characters instead of just regular people.

Kitti (nickname)- when i made her, she originally was a Boy Scout and kinda based off of spongebob. Now ive changed her to like a big sister like character except she really ISN’T. She’s the younger sister of twins, neither the brain or muscle behind their duo. She’s sweet, dense, and a stickler for order. She’s a mycologist and likes to hang out in the woods. She is dating oso im still working on their dynamic but theyre definitely childhood friends who find each other again in adulthood oso confuses her for her twin sister and is like: whoa, so you decided to become a girl!! Thats so cool can i see ur boobs since we’re old friends?? She meets oso thru totty who shes friends with bc theyre both girls.

Wendy - basically a small, loud little henchman or hypeman. She’s so so small in height and so round. She looks like a shark, has very pointy teeth, beady lil teeth, and is very scary except her voice is really adorable. She is karamatsu’s biggest fucking fan, and hyped him up as much as he does to the point where sometimes he’s embarrassed. I think she’s weird and funny bc she has a rich inner world completely detached from him that she never tells him about except for concerning bits and pieces. So far theyre my favorite bc i drew her telling kara when hes not there she goes to nurtitionland and hangs out with talking carrots. Kara absolutely adores her and tries to explain her appeal constantly but everyone side eyes him.

Sindri - I haven’t really figured it out yet bc Sindri was an oc i used to really adore. I remember having like a really lavish and dramatic backstory for him that was super serious but i kinda don’t wanna do all of that anymore but dont wanna erase all of it either. Slowly rebuilding him. I ship him w choro tho

Esaias- another recycled but kinda loved oc. He was like one of my least favorites but I had developed him a loooot. Almost all of his original characterization and background are the same, so he grew up in a paramilitary Christian cult ran by his step father and mother that only consisted of his immediate family. His childhood sucked but you wouldn’t know it bc he was the blacksheep, and thoroughly ignored but a lot of the family politics bc hes considered the illegitimate eldest. He’s actually really normal and nice and in Japan for grad school and to train under Fighting Yowai. He makes Ichi really nervous bc he’s like a normie or something but he also is really strange. They have a really funny dynamic to me but eventually hes kinda like a security blanket ichi carries and he is there basically like “damn bitch you live like this? Thats so cool can you teach me?”

Suzi - she didn’t have a very thick background, I made her when I was like literally 12 and didn’t like her very much to the point where her entire narrative was that i killed off her sister. Which is funny bc i love her now and so I killed her off too. She’s a ghost! Like a sadako/okiku type of ghost. Looks very scary and only jyushi can see her and at first he’s terrified of her but it’s really actually lighthearted and silly. His brothers are all weirded out by jyushi’s new imaginary friend but they are a loveydovey couple even tho shes dead and he aint.

The tallest of my ocs. She can only handle the responsibility of taking care of Kitti, so she cant cook or clean (kitti must) but she does everything else. FIRST OF ALL. if steve existed modern day i have a feeling he would be a bit of a frat boy, let’s just be honest ok. definitely one of the nicer ones, but a frat boy none the less. now, i feel he would be a little interesting though, hear me out. instead of liking the basic rap or whatever, he would be one of those dumb kind of frat guys that’s like “oh my god, have you heard of queen before? they’re like this really old band from like the 50s i think, you should really listen to them” 💀💀💀like i said, sweet, but brainless </3

SECONDLY. he is such a normie when it comes to music, and i would simply never let him live it down im sorry. BUT his one exception is he likes the beatles. he has a couple of their tapes and he loves to play them in the car. i feel, at first, he was so basic like “hey jude” and “come together” basic. but you help him. i feel after you introduce a lot of their other music he kind of develops a particular taste — kind of self indulgent but you show him rubber soul and he really likes it, he really likes their older music and i feel he would really like “run for your life” and “drive my car” and he plays them all the time in the car. after you show them some more of their stuff, you can always hear it faintly through his headphones when you’re sneaking up on him at family video or when he’s at home in his room :)))

THIRD. he loves rings. hands down. steve is ringo. least problematic, just vibes, loyal to a fault. he legitimately would say everything you mentioned like you get it. i also feel like steve has a thing for the underdog and i definitely consider ringo and underdog LMAO so it’s a perfect fit. also you show him this and he loses his ever-loving MIND

FOURTH. hungry like the wolf is such a steve song yeah like he definitely listened to that entire song and loved it and learned all the words and he plays air-drums to it but he had absolutely no idea the meaning behind it and when you tell him he’s like “wait… actually?😦 that makes so much sense….”

like he doesn’t necessarily have bad taste, it’s just… basic. we could definitely help him with that though.

played through Snoot Game (that 4chan-made parody of Goodbye Volcano High) and spent 5 hours going through my first run to get the best ending. here's some thoughts on it

from the getgo, it is not as turbo evil or turbo edgy as folks make it out to be. there's some shit here and there that i see and go "yeah that sucks but of course a high school cast would say that shit, i remember hearing stuff on that level AND worse back in my own high school years"

story is fucking stellar and the writing matches it nicely. feels like im actually seeing high schoolers written genuinely instead of coming across as alien

art is a mix-up at times. the characters themselves look great throughout, though im a bit bummed out sometimes the backgrounds go from nicely drawn to just real life photos put through a filter. feel like it would've been better if they EITHER spent time drawing every background OR went all in on the filtered photos instead

despite what ive heard and seen, the protagonist Anon just really feels like a hyper-insecure and painfully autistic (i am autistic) kid going through the motions. throwing in the angle of him coming from a poor background and feeling judged immensely cause of it really hit hard

the game definitely has some racist elements, i'm not making an excuse for that at all LMAO. it sucks, what else do you want me to say other than "no i dont condone that are you fucking stupid"

the fourth ending seems like it makes the most sense for everyone in the cast to grow and develop. i've looked up stuff for the other endings and they all feel like drastic bad times caused by the player purposefully wanting the cast to fail. considering how much heart is put into the fourth / best one, yeah it makes sense that you should want the best for everyone and help them grow into being better folks

anyway there's just some thoughts i can rattle off my head. i know it's not for everyone and i dont blame you if you still hate it. i genuinely had a great time playing it last night and im hoping to take some pointers from it someday when i put out my own VNs.

u also gotta remember im a gal who grew up on 4chan shit as a kid, encyclopedia dramatica, and what have you. seen a bunch of awful shit my whole life and still do, but i know how to handle that shit responsibly and still work to be a good person. i like feel good wholesome content, i like edgy shit, and i like normie shit inbetween. gotta see all lenses of life and see what you can learn from the good, the bad, and the ugly

Rudy's Book Reviews: You Will Get Through This Night by Daniel Howell

yeah thats right im gonna be a phannie on main for a second. this is the start of my book review series which i hope to actually folow through with lol. this one ive been listening to as an audiobook but i do have the physical copy as well cuz im like that! next review will hopefully be gideon the ninth so tune in for that, but for now, read this review under the cut:

this book is a practical mental health guide, honestly a lot of it is stuff that you can learn in therapy so like if you have a therapist that you like then maybe its not worth it BUT theres like slim pickins for mental health books that arent just anecdotal evidence without actually talking about what people did to help them get better, just "yea i was sad but then i got therapy ✌️" or books that are so couched in psychiatric jargon its hard for a layperson to get into OR just vaguely inspiring bullshit.

its all written with the help of an actual licensed psychologist person, so no bullshit, no just do yoga and drink water shit (although obviously exercise and hydration and physical health are talked about) and yes he mentions medication and LICENSED therapy if those end up being necessary steps to take with your mental health!!! which again, in the world of self help type books, tends to be rare advice which is DEPRESSING IN A DIFFERENT WAY LMAO.

ofc it should go without saying that a book can never be a replacement for therapy but Considering How The World Is, this book is good for like maybe stepping into learning some coping skills as well as figuring out a plan before, during, and after crisis mode. i would say the tone is more serious than humorous but dan puts a lot of his own natural snarky sarcasm stink all over this book which obv that can be a taste thing if youre not into brit sarcasm mode but as a One Of Those i like it lol

in terms of Dan And Phil™️-isms, theres a sprinkling of cute winks and nods and inside jokes that people who drew sharpie cat whiskers on their faces as teens would understand but Normies will not find to be out of place or anything, there's also some storytimes of like his previous tours or living as a dropout youtuber being stress-inducing and things like that but not a ton which i kinda prefer cuz it makes it easier for me to recommend this book to people who dont give a shit about Phandom Memes

theres an introduction which is kind of a short summary of who dan is, basically just summarizing his youtube videos talking about depression and when he came out as queer and all that fun stuff, if youre a psycho hardcore fan person like me you might find it to be a long and unnecessary read, but if youre someone who didnt know about this guy and are curious as to why he would even write a book like this its a pretty good synopsis.

the american cover has dan's stupid face on it, and as someone who is a big fan of dan's stupid beautiful face, i wish we had the EU version with like tasteful yellow stripes on it bc it looks so nice, but i mean i just keep it on my bookshelf with the spine showing which is just a nice yellow spine with the title and looks unassuming so its not THAT big a deal lmaoo.

in terms of the audiobook, dan's voice is quite soothing and there's all these like audio cues and fitting music which i really like. the only downside is, for example, he reads out this timed breathing exercise that is meant to be like a five minute exercise, but it's not actually timed? so like i want to do the breathing exercises along with him reading it out but he reads it so fast its kinda like bro slow down you said breathe in for five seconds why you going ahead two seconds later homie. thats my only criticism i think obv if you are reading it and not listening you can just do the exercises by timing yourself lol.

ummmm idk if im gonna give a number at the end of these reviews!!! i give this book a big thumbs up!! 👍 woohoo yeah baby i am very proud of dan's current life journey thing that he's going on and i think this is a great book for people who need help which is everyone alive today right now :)

ok i need to talk about this because im gonna loose my mind if i dont. first off, Anthro (Or anthropomorphic) means something not human being given human characteristics. an anthro animal character example would be, perhaps mickey mouse, or sonic the hedge hog.

a feral character is an animal. no human characteristics whatsoever. walks on four legs, has normal animal paws, nothing special about it.

TELL ME WHY IV'E BEEN TOLD (MORE THAN ONCE BY NORMIES) THAT IT'S ZOOPHILIA TO LIKE AN ANTHRO CHARACTER??????

there are varying levels of anthro to feral, its a scale. liking feral animals is, obviously, considered a BIGGG nono. cuz, its a straight up animal.

but when we start moving up the scale, maybe the character can talk or stand, its a grey area honestly. it REALLY depends on what you like about said character. we'll use Puss In Boots, for example. he is very cat-like, he even walks on four legs at times, but, he's a sassy dude with a Spanish accent and great style. HES COOL. so, yea its easy to understand why people would like him. as long as its not the fact that he's a literal cat that makes you like him, i personally dont see what's wrong with liking a character like that.

we move a little up the scale, and we've got characters like Haida Hyena or a real buff guy like that one wolf from BHA (IM SO SORRY I CANT REMEMBER HIS NAME FOR THE LIFE OF ME IM SOOO SORYYYRYRY) they talk, walk, have human personalities, wear human clothes, have human bodies or more human hands. i wouldn't think twice about someone liking a character like that. i mean there's a lot to like, the only difference is that they're a furry character. if all the traits of Haida Hyena were put into a guy, people would date him. sorry, but they would. he's a tall bassist dude. c'mon. again, it's the human traits people like, the fact that they happen to be an animal is literally only an artistic choice.

and then the final stage is the most human a furry character can be. characters designed like they are in Sweet tooth. more, humans with animal features than animas with human features. that's mostly considered to be ok with normies i think because they're so human.

I've only ever had this issue with normies though. most furries seem to agree that its the human features of these characters that everyone likes. not the fact that they're an animal. (cuz that's fucking weird) the fact that the characters are animals is merely a stylistic choice, and just makes them look cool. but nobody is liking these characters only cuz they're animals wtf come on think right.

TLDR; do some fucking research before spitting shit out ur mouth. people like the human traits of these characters, not the fact that they're an animal dumbass.

I need to know, cause i never intend on writing him as a good father to his bots, since almost every game kind of just comfirms that either the bots just dont seriously have the capacity to think, and those that do overthrow him, joke about leaving him for the heros, fight against him or kill themselves.

And that one archie comic really weny "did he just send a to a fate worst than death"?

Or the idea that his other creations do have minds of their own, and that they may be still alive, essentially abandoned and regarded as scrap or something otherwise unimportant, and that theyre only reason for being created was to destroy- and like im pretty sure idw did something on the abandoned guys side but i dont read the comics so idk how much existental horror/normie horror they went with it.

Like, the time Gamma was just freshly born, Eggman immediatley decieded to make it fight haid "brother" in order to prove its worth to Eggman. Like thats a little fucked up considering that Gamma had enough intelligence and scentience to have a full blown arc and crisis.

And so here i am, essentially writing the bots as either 1. totally down for this shit because they're born to be down for the slaugheter, 2. Realise that and continue to choose to be down for the slaughter anyways, 3. Arent fleshed out enough to decide or have conflict about it, 4. Are aware of their flight-or-fight response being a "kill and die" response, and coping badly, 5. Is aware of all of this and chooses to leave/go against eggman, 6. Commit "self-destruct" because the dilemma was either "live" and continue everyone elses and or their own suffering, or "die", effectively preventing harm on the other party in a self-sacrafice.

This however, is not very suitable for "eggman is the best dad" idea.

Infact, seeing how he treats other.. actuall children (going as far as to essentially kidnap, clone, gaslight and gatekeep one of them) i..i dont think hed make a good dad.

Infact, the best dad he could be, would immediatley trigger one of those sibling attention hierachies (like the one in The Good Place) due to him perferring whomever does the best job at.. well.. destroying the heroes.

But since everyone is mostly woefully incompentent as he is that never happens.

And no matter how much attatchment the bot may have, ultimately if Eggman doesnt care about them, they'll go down the shoot and into the garbage pile.

Does that mean that Eggman as a good dad is not a viable concept to explore? Hell no! Keep going with the sweet stuff if thats what makes you happy.

I for one, am writing this because everytime i feel lessened by the masses simply because of a desire to write more edgy angst fiction about abandoned, negelected, abused or otherise very sad relationships the bots have with eggman. This i feel is simialr to the desire to write wholesome ones as well.

Im sure theres like.. a shitton angsty asshole Eggman stuff out already though, so im nothing new
