I still cannot get over the fact that the fucking stick. the stupid fucking stick. the stick that, this whole time, has been used as a symbol for the fact that the captain literally cannot get over the war if he tried, that he couldn't put away his identity as a military officer for a second to see what kind of person he might be without it, that the afterlife was trapping him in a role he didn't deserve. that all of that is wrong. it's not a reminder of what he lost, what his life might of been if not for the oppression of society, no. it's a reminder that he was loved. that he was cared for. that no matter how small it was, he had a moment of understanding. of peace. that somebody saw him. that havers saw him. do you get it. he's used that stick for so many glorious beautiful silly lovely things since his death. he's grown and he's learned and he's found a community he's a part of. it was a gift. a token and a reminder and an anchor, sure but mostly. freedom. the larry quote. the whole time we thought it was something he couldn't get rid of. and now we know he doesn't want to.

I'm so annoyed and embarrassed. The past three times we've been to the dog park, Chili has acted like a fucking asshole. Monday, she was playing too rough with a JRT puppy and had to be separated. We went into the seperate pond yard and played fetch for a bit and after, she was fine.

Yesterday, she wouldn't leave an Italian greyhound alone, so I grabbed her and led her away. She was fine until she saw another dog roughhousing with a smaller dog and Chili joined in. The smaller dog was giving clear 'stop' signals that Chili wasn't reading and kept trying to roughhouse. So I grabbed her and hauled off to the secluded alone time yard to finish the day away from other dogs.

Today, go in. She going up to people and looking at what's in their hands, looking for treats. I tell her off, and we play a little fetch. She clocks onto one lady and starts jumping on her. I reprimand Chili, we get her to sit, and she gets a treat, but SHE WOULD NOT LEAVE THIS LADY ALONE. She got away from me and ran back up to her and kept jumping on her, even as the lady turned away.

I finally got a hold of her, apologized a million times because that was so rude and bad, and hauled Chili off to the secluded yard again.

I don't know what the fuck is happening. She's been so good for the past year. What the fuck is going in with my dog that she's suddenly turned into this disobedient jackass?

We might take a break from the dog park for a bit and I'm also doubling down on more obedience training and talking to the daycare to ask if they are reinforcing this jumping habit cause I do NOT allow that. I'm just so fucking mortified over this.

i've been thinking a lot about moon knight (the show & comics) and for all the show's faults and flaws, one of the biggest things i love about it is the fact that marc and layla clearly have an incredibly strong relationship, and love each other so, so much. like, comics!mk is so appealing to me because he's a sad boy with wet raccoon hair whose lost almost all of his once close and important connections. but show!mk really hits a special place in my heart because it centres a married couple who clearly care about each other so deeply (even if that care isn't necessarily expressed in the best way—stares @ marc) even when they're in conflict. and while the show never resolves how marc and layla handle their relationship post-season i genuinely believe that they probably work out their differences. because while layla was rightfully angry at marc for witholding his involvement in her father's murder, this is a man who did everything he could to keep his wife safe and this is woman who drop everything and booked it to find her husband when he resurfaced after months of silence with no explanation. layla keeps trying to reach out to marc and bridge the gap between them during the show and with the truth in the air and khonshu (mostly) gone from their lives, i strongly believe that they'll be able to reconcile. not saying that it'll be smooth going by any means. but they clearly still think of each other as their spouse and now that they have time and space to work on and repair their relationship, i really believe they will.
