The reader seems to be really close to billy and stu , so it got me thinking , what if she had little rituals with them ... like kissing their noses or rubbing their backs , and what if she got possessive of them and in a game of 7 minutes in heaven ou something she just makes out with billy or stu ( bcs in order to be with dark murderous freaks you have to be a freak yourself ...i dont make the rules)
Like imagine billy : im mf special 😏
a/n omg?? i love this!! this concept is adorable :)) i got so excited i put off writing my lit essay lol, this became A LOT longer than I thought it would be lol
also do y’all like first or second person narration better?? i definitely like writing first person more in chapter fics, but in drabbles/one-shots i change my mind all the time. I did a little of both here lol

The pile of homework I've been working on seems like it'll never end. Like there will always be another packet that needs to be completed or another essay I need to write.
Something behind me shifts. The noise is soft and easy to dismiss, but my body turns instinctually anyways. After what happened to Casey, there's no such thing as being too sure.
With a sigh, my entire body eases as I realize what the source of the noise is. It's just Billy and Stu, magically appearing like they often do on my windowsill. Stu's already inside my room, sitting on the edge of my window, his feet firmly plated on the floor. Billy's leaning against it, his lower half still outside.
Normally, when they show up like this, I grin and urge them to come in faster. "What are you guys doing here?" The way Stu pauses and the look Billy gives me tells me that they weren't expecting that reaction. "I told you guys--not today. I have a ton of homework and like half my family is visiting. My cousins have no concept of boundaries because they're like seven and they barge in here all the time. They're also snitches, the last thing I need is them running to the kitchen and telling their mom that 'Y/n has boys in her room'."
Stu holds up his hands in defense as he stands. "Relax, we're just here for our goodnight kisses."
I turn, adjusting the notebook on my lap as I look at them skeptically.
"We'll leave right after if you want us to," Billy says, pulling himself up onto my windowsill.
Still unsure, I twist my pen between my fingers. "I will want you guys to." My tone is a little harsher than I want it to be. Stu seems a little tenser and Billy's expression clouds. "No, that came out wrong. It’s not that I want you gone, it’s that I’m trying to be practical.”
"You didn't want us coming over earlier," Stu mumbles, something harsh behind his eyes, "And we barely saw you yesterday."
"Yesterday wasn't my fault. You two went out with Tatum and Sid." I adjust my hold on my notebook. "And I didn't want you guys over earlier today because of homework. Literally all I've done today is go to lunch with my family and homework." Their unease settles in my stomach like a rock. I sigh, pushing my notebook off of my lap. "Okay, come here."
At that, Stu breaks out into a grin. He crosses my room in a few long steps. Once he reaches me, he sinks into my waiting arms. I hug him tightly before he can decide that all isn’t forgiven, burring my face into the side of his neck. He's so warm and always smells so much like him. Like expensive fabric softener, a little bit of body spray, and usually a tiny bit like weed. On anyone else the combination wouldn't work, but on Stu, it makes me feel right at home.
One of my hands runs up and down Stu's back. He eases into the contact. The shirt he's wearing is soft. There's little I love more than Stu's well worn, rich kid T-shirts. I'm already plotting how to steal it from him.
I lean my head upwards, pressing a kiss against his jaw. His eyes flutter shut as I leave a trail of kisses up his cheek and to his temple like I always do.
Billy must have come in while I was distracted. He's lingering next to us, watching with a blank expression. I learned early on that while Billy hates asking for physical contact, he loves receiving it. If I had to take a guess, Billy's hesitance likely comes from his home life, but I'd never say that out loud.
"Okay, Stu," I hum, my nails brushing through his hair, "You're good." His hold on me tightens. "Stu, c'mon." With a bit of a pout, he straightens just enough to place a kiss on my forehead. He's watching me carefully, silently asking me for a few more minutes. "Billy's turn."
Stu frowns, looking like he's sincerely weighing his options. "Fine," he mumbles, placing one last kiss against the side of my head.
Once Stu lets me go, he slumps back onto my bed, laying across my mattress on his back. That does make me a tiny bit nervous because the more comfortable Stu gets, the less likely he is to leave.
I reach over, grabbing Billy's wrist. Gently, I pull him towards me. He lets me. Like always, at first Billy's slow before reciprocating with full force. He melts into my touch, pressing his face into my neck. My fingers trace patterns against his back.
"Missed this," I whisper the admission.
"We missed you, too," Stu replies, hand lazily reaching over for my extended leg. His fingers begin to trace patterns against the skin of my calf. I'd think that the motion was absentminded, but once when I asked him about it, he told me that sometimes he writes out things he wants to do to me. "Soon it'll just be the three of us."
This isn't a conversation that I love. The more they talk about the day where they feel like Sidney and the friend group are stable enough to handle two break ups, the less I believe that that day will ever come. Thinking about it makes me feel like a terrible person.
Billy, sensing that he no longer has my full attention, shifts. He moves impossibly closer, his lips grazing my pulse. I used to jokingly scold him for kissing my neck during times like this before learning that things like that aren't always sexual to him. It's just him at his most relaxed.
My fingers rake through his hair, smoothing it back carefully before placing a series of kisses across his jaw and up his cheek. My trail ends at his temple, like always. The realization that the moment's passing leads to him squeezing me tighter. There's something distinct about his touch today, maybe even a little nervous. That paired with how uncharacteristically quiet he's being leaves me wondering if this ambush visit is a result of something else.
I know he was supposed to do something with his dad this morning. Okay, I need to stop thinking about that before it starts showing on my face. He doesn't like when I worry, he's never said anything, but his hot-to-cold reactions make me think he misinterprets it as pity. If anything, what I feel is anger that I can't walk up to his dad and punch him the face.
"Okay," I hum, "You both got your goodnight kisses...and I have to finish this essay."
"It's Friday," Stu replies, his fingers moving against my skin in what kind of feels like the curve of a 'c'? I'd ask if I wasn't worried about the conversation and mood taking a turn towards something I can't control. "You have two whole days."
I exhale, nails gently scratching at Billy's scalp. "You're throwing a party on Saturday, and Sunday's our first fully free day in over a week. You two aren't going to let me get anything done."
Stu turns his hand, running his knuckles up my leg. "Not true, babe. I've got a whole to-do list for you."
Softly kicking my leg in protest of his joke, I roll my eyes. "It's better for everyone if I just get this stuff done now, especially since you can't sleep over anyways. My little cousins are never in bed when they're supposed to be."
"You can do your homework, Billy and I know how to behave." When I raise an eyebrow at that, Stu concedes, "Okay, we at least know how to entertain ourselves."
Yeah, that's not comforting.
"You guys aren't being fair. I don't remember acting like this when you guys literally went on dates yesterday." I drop my arms away from Billy, ignoring the pinch of guilt that strikes with no warning.
At the lack of contact, Billy sits up. I avoid his gaze. "Is that why you're kicking us out? You're jealous? Upset we're not giving you enough attention?"
"No, I'm kicking you out because there's a group of seven to nine year olds that are super nosy in my house. Especially when it comes to boys. Kennedy's in the third grade and in her crush phase and she's asked me about whether or not I have a boyfriend 50 times."
"Your mom lets us sleep over all the time," Stu defends, "We just need to tell her that our parents did something and she won't care."
My posture straightens in an attempt to seem more determined. "That's different and you know it. She always has you guys crash on the couch and you sneak up later. We can't do that with all my relatives in the house, and you can't show up to my house so late."
Stu doesn't normally see--or at least, doesn't care about--reason, but Billy tends to listen a little more. I look over at him, gauging his expression. I still can't read him as well as he can read me, but I know that the blanker his face is, the more emotion he's feeling.
They're both starting to seem a little weird, maybe a little hurt, and I hate it. I do miss them, I want them here, but it's risky for me. At the end of the day, if my relatives find out, they get to go home. I'm the one that will be in trouble until I graduate.
"Do you really want us to go?" Billy's voice is as flat and void as his expression.
The hollow look he's giving me hurts. "You know I don't." That eerie blankness doesn't go away. "When I lock the door, they just keep knocking until I open it. I guess that gives us time for you two to get into my closet or something."
With that, Billy eases. He's not exactly as relaxed as he was before, but it's a start. I lean forward, grabbing his hand. Stu sits up, shooting up to pull me into another hug. His grin feels smug, but I can't bring myself to call him out on it.
"That's our girl," Stu praises, kissing my cheek.
I press my lips together, fighting a grin. "Wait--there's a condition. You two need to let me finish this essay."
Billy lifts our intertwined fingers to his lips. "Deal."
"You guys are unbelievable." They both look at me expectantly. "Can't believe I'm basically risking my life because I can't go one night without having you two sleepover."
----
Going out with my friends has become extremely bittersweet. I love when the entire friend group's together, but there's just something about seeing Billy and Stu and knowing that things are different. Knowing that they're right there and thousands of miles away at the same time. It's not that we don't talk in public, it's that it's inherently different. And it makes me feel awful.
Each smile I share with Tate and each time I laugh with Sid adds another layer of guilt. It's so bad that both Billy and Stu have had to talk me down from breaking it off with them twice now after large group hang outs.
Whenever I freak out, Billy tells me that this is for the best, that after everything Sidney's gone through, he can't just break up with her while she's still dealing with trauma. The one stable, good thing in her life right now is our friend group. Stu and Tatum breaking up would endanger that as well. Even though keeping these secrets is morally wrong, they're always promising that this is the best way to keep everyone happy. Sid gets the support she needs, Tatum doesn't have to feel weird in the friend group, and we don't have to be heartbroken because of our right person, wrong time situation.
I'm not sure when they started taking a more preventative approach to the whole thing, but now, whenever we have group plans, they make a point of spending some time with me before. Just as a reminder about how they actually feel, I think.
They still haven’t stopped by, which I’m trying to not stress about as I tear my closet apart. Stu’s parties are always crowded and low lit, so what I wear isn’t the biggest deal, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care.
After Billy and Stu left early this morning my entire family headed out so that my extended family could be dropped off at the airport. So now I have the house to myself, which is a good thing for when one gets ready.
I play my music as loud as I want while I take an extra long shower and take my time putting on a face mask. I’m being a little extra about my getting ready routine, but I’m taking advantage of the space and the free time.
Shrugging off my towel, I pull one of Stu’s old shirts over my head. I’ve had this one for awhile but it still smells like him. I shut off my music and throw open my closet door open.
I grab yesterday’s jeans off from the back of my desk chair. I had half a mind to wear them again tonight, but they’re a little over due for a wash. My fingers dig through the pockets as I approach my hamper. There’s no change, but there is a tube of chap stick in the front pocket and a tiny slip of paper in the back.
Unfolding the scrap paper, I fold the jeans over my bent arm. Good luck on your math test - Billy. I grin, thumb and pointer finger pinching the torn piece of paper a little too tightly.
This isn’t the first time I’ve found one of these notes, but each time is equally exciting. It started relatively recently, the appearance of tiny notes in places I’d never expect to find them. In between the pages of books, slipped into my pencil bag, tucked into my folder next to homework assignments, and sometimes directly written into my notebooks. And now, apparently, tucked into the pocket of my jeans.
The notes range in levels of sweetness, some of them motivational when I’m stressed over something, and others a little more flirty. The one I found before this one was about how pretty he thought I looked while walking to class. They’re all well loved, kept in a shoe box under my bed for me to re-read whenever I need a bit of a pick me up.
I go back to my closet, looking through my clothes to find something that looks like I’m in the party mood. If I’m being honest, after such a draining week, I think I’d rather stay home and watch some movies instead of being at a party where Stu and Billy are both going to be with their girlfriends. Normally, that’s not enough to get me out of the party mood, but that paired with how busy I’ve been this week doesn’t have me thrilled for this. At least Randy will be there.
Sighing, I start sorting through my clothes, trying to get myself into a party mood. I’m sure once I have an outfit I like and I fix my appearance, I’ll feel better about this.
I’ve just laid out a few outfit options on my bed when I hear a few familiar taps against the frame of my window. Tamping down a grin, I look up, not even bothering to look surprised. Billy and Stu are already pulling themselves into my room.
“You know, I do have a front door,” I mumble, straightening the skirt I just laid out on my bed.
Stu dramatically sigh, stomping into my room before flopping face first onto my bed. “That’s the hello we get?”
I roll my eyes. “I was just saying.” Stu props his head up on his elbow, looking up at me with criminally soft eyes. I drop my gaze, reaching for the top that he’s now wrinkling. “And you’re messing up my outfits.”
He watches me as I hold out the shirt. “You’re wearing that?”
“I don’t know,” I mumble, ignoring his tone, “I have a few options, but I was thinking this with the dark green skirt.”
Stu rolls onto his back before reaching over for the skirt I’m talking about. He looks at it skeptically. “This skirt?”
“Yep.” Stu didn’t sound too thrilled. “Why? Do you think it doesn’t match? Because I was thinking about that.”
Billy pushes away from the wall he was leaning against. “It’s short, sweetheart.”
I look at him oddly. It’s not insanely short, I mean, I’ve worn shorter. “Not that short,” my eyes look over the fabric that Stu’s still holding, “My mom bought it for me. It’s fine.”
Stu drops his arm. “I’ve seen the way your mom dresses.”
“Are you slut shaming my mom right now?”
“No,” Stu begins lazily, “I’m just saying that that doesn’t mean the skirt’s not too short.”
I didn’t even want to wear this that badly before. “Too short? You guys aren’t my dad.”
“Well, considering what you call u--”
“Oh my god,” I cringe, throwing my shirt in Stu’s direction. The fabric lands against his face. Stu ignores me, pulling it off of him. “What’s the big deal? It’s just a skirt.”
“A skirt that’s going to have people looking at you.” Crossing my arms in front of my chest, I stare at anything but Billy as he approaches me. His hand clasps around my forearm, pulling me a tiny bit forward. “Looking at what’s ours.”
I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that the possessive undertones of the words didn’t make my face feel warm. The hypocrisy, though, almost immediately dismisses that. “So I have to be all okay with you two literally having girlfriends, but the line is drawn at me wearing a skirt you guys think is too short?” He squeezes my arm. “Maybe I want a little attention, it’s not like you guys can give me any tonight.”
Billy’s hold on me goes from casual to nearly painful. His knuckles turn white against my skin and I’m sure that if this goes on for any longer, there are going to be finger shaped bruises there. I meet Billy’s gaze. His eyes have darkened significantly.
“So that’s what the skirt’s about? You’re throwing a tantrum because you’re not getting enough attention?”
This is going downhill fast. I’m going to need to backtrack the hell out of this conversation. “No, I-I was just making a point. It’s a little bit of a double standard, you have to at least be able to admit that.” The lack of emotion in his expression turns my stomach. I force myself to hold his gaze. “It just sucks sometimes, going to these things and seeing you guys with your girlfriends, and then I feel bad about feeling like that because they’re my friends.”
“They’re not our girlfriends, they’re a situation,” Billy’s voice is harsher than it’s ever been while directed at me, “You’re our girlfriend.”
My eyes widen. Despite how close we’ve gotten, the actual ‘g’ and ‘b’ words have not been used. I know I’ve been tripping over myself to avoid calling either of them my boyfriend by accident. His hold hasn’t loosened, but I can’t help my grin. My head tilts to the side, eyes softening as I place a hand over his. “Girlfriend?”
Stu walks up to us. I don’t realize that he’s moving until I feel a hand on my shoulder. “Of course you are, you’re our girl.” He extends an arm, somewhat playfully pushing against Billy’s forearm. “Old Billy boy here wasn’t supposed to just say it like that. We’ve been planning it out, we were gonna ask.” Stu doesn’t release Billy’s arm, “It’s all Billy talks about, might wanna ease off on the love spells, he’s obsessed with you.” Stu squeezes my shoulder, running his thumb across the skin. “All day, it’s ‘you think Y/n’s okay?, Y/n’s hair looked so soft today, we should go see Y/n.’”
Billy throws a look in Stu’s direction, his grip on me loosening. I smile, “Really?”
“Fuck off,” Billy mumbles, shoving Stu. “He’s the one that’s whipped. Sometimes he misses the smell of your perfume.”
I grin despite their odd tension. It doesn’t take much for play fights to turn into something else, something I don’t understand because half of it is unspoken between them. But I love this.
“Okay,” I hum, probably a little too chipper as I step between them, “This is officially my favorite argument the two of you have had.”
They’re both starting to move over to a different world that’s just theirs. I step forward, pulling Billy into a hug. After a second, he reciprocates. I shift, moving to press a kiss to his cheek. “I think about you a lot, y’know.” He’s looking at me calmly, but if I didn’t know any better, I’d think there might be the faintest tinge of color in his face.
“A lot,” he echoes, tone amused.
I grin, nodding once, “Yes, don’t make it a thing.” The way the corner of his mouth turns upwards tells me that he’d be happy to have me spend the rest of tonight unpacking what I mean by that. I tilt my head, looking at Stu, “And you.” Stu’s eyes widen slightly as he waits for me to continue, “Sometimes I miss the way you smell, too.”
Stu’s eyes narrow jokingly, eyes soft, “Really?”
“Why do you think I’m always wearing your shirts?”
He smiles, pulling Billy and I into a hug that thoroughly squishes me between them. Sometimes I wish everything could be as easy as it is in our little bubble.
“Okay,” I begin pointedly, playing up my annoyance, “Watch the hair, I’m still getting ready.” Before they can make anything of that comment, I continue, “Even though I’m my own person and I hate that thing where guys are all like ‘there’s no way you’re wearing that’, I guess there’s nothing wrong with taking into consideration how my boyfriends feel.” Saying that makes me so happy I can’t even bother to hide my grin. “How about a compromise--the jean skirt I wore last week and the top I threw at Stu earlier.”
With a dramatic sigh, Stu drops his forehead onto my shoulder. “You’re going to make tonight impossible.”
He’s exaggerating a little, which is fitting considering sometimes it feels like all it takes to get Stu going is a look that lasts a little too long paired with the tiniest bit of exposed skin. “Sounds like a you problem.”
Stu looks up at me, half glaring at me through hooded eyes. He lethargically smacks the top of my thigh, right where his t-shirt ends. It’s a testament to his easygoing mood, but I can’t help my dramatic gasp.
“What?” Sometimes I think Stu would be insufferable if his smile wasn’t so cute. “If you’re going to be mean, I’m going to be mean back.”
Okay, there’s a chance I am being a tiny bit mean. Did I pick the skirt that had Stu making up a super lame excuse during lunch just so he could get me into a supply closet for a makeout session I had to cut short? Maybe. Was it on purpose? ...I’d like to say no, but honestly, maybe.
“Alright,” Billy interjects, “I know that look in both of your eyes, and we don’t have time for that.”
He’s not wrong. I reluctantly pull away from both of them and go back to getting ready. We’ve fallen into a little bit of a routine. I go through my getting ready to go out routine, and they casually--or not so casually--look around my room. If that isn’t entertaining enough, they patiently follow me around.
It’s kinda cute. Especially if I decide to wear makeup and they ask about whatever it is I’m putting on my face. One of these days I’m going to have to let Stu put eyeliner on me.
By the time I’m almost done, Billy and Stu are still content with looking around my room. I have no idea what they find so interesting about my space, it’s not like it changes often enough to warrant their curiosity. But if it makes them happy to look through my bedside drawer and leaf through whatever notebook or book are left out on my desk, why stop them?
Now that I’m dressed and have given my appearance a once over in the mirror, I’m basically ready. All that I need to do is figure out how to get the clasp of this necklace to just...
“You okay?”
Billy’s sudden appearance at my side nearly makes the chain slip from my fingers. His steps are so quiet sometimes. Honestly, a little more practice and he could play a killer in a movie he’d love. “Yeah, there’s just something about putting necklaces on yourself that’s impossible.”
“Here,” he breathes, fingers barely grazing my neck as he takes the clasp from me. Billy turns the necklace as he steps behind me. He latches the clasp with surprisingly minimal effort. Instead of releasing me, he adjusts the necklace so that the charm sits perfectly centered. Billy leans towards me, pressing a kiss to the top of my head.
Stu, who was previously looking at a framed picture of me at some birthday party when I was little, turns his attention towards us. “Aw, how domestic, you’re like an old, married couple.”
I turn just in time to catch Billy’s meant-to-be dismissive eye roll, but there’s the faintest touch of something else, something that might be a little flustered. It’s gone before I can be sure.
“We’re cute,” I agree, reaching for Billy’s hand to squeeze it once. “Okay, I’m ready, so you guys should go. I’ll show up in about half an hour, give people some time to get there so that nothing looks weird.”
Stu frowns, setting the picture frame back in place. “It’s not that suspicious, we’re friends, you’re punctual.”
I press my lips together. We have our rules in place for a reason, and talking about them too much makes me feel things I really don’t like feeling. “You know why I can’t.”
Billy must notice my shifting mood because he cups my face. “You’re forgetting something before kicking us out.” When I don’t respond right away, Billy kisses my cheek. “In case you needed a reminder.”
Of course. If there’s one thing Billy’s consistent about it’s our little traditions. At first, they were just excuses to be cheesy, especially when I was feeling a little insecure, but now, they’re more significant.
I tilt my head upwards, leaving a trail of kisses up his cheek. Stretching upwards, I then place a kiss on the tip of his nose. He then kisses my forehead. Our goodbye ritual.
“Hey, I’m leaving too.” The fact that I’m surprised that Stu is already within grabbing distance makes me a little too aware of how tired I am.
Pushing against the feeling that begs me to just stay here tonight, I beam at him. He lets me hug him. His hands find their way around my waist and I press kisses against his cheek until I’ve reached his nose. Stu tilts his head down to help me reach him. My body eases as he presses a kiss to my forehead.
“Okay, you guys should go.” Shifting awkwardly and dropping my arms to my side, I tact on a half thought in hopes of making this easier on all of us, “Maybe some time alone will do me some good, help me get into the party mood.”
There’s a brief silence, and then Stu steps back, “See you later.”
“Yeah,” I say, a little flatly.
Billy’s eyes are trained on Stu, who just barely glances back. To anyone else, it’d come off as casual eye contact. A small feeling that’s little more than an itch at the back of my mind tells me that its the beginning of one of their exchanges. Or maybe I’m just on edge.
They approach the window, leaving like they always do.
----
Narrator’s POV
You never thought you’d want to kill Randy as badly as you do right now. One minute, the two of you are casually drinking, and he’s listening to a tipsy you summarize the plot of the latest show you’re invested in, and the next he’s trying to usher everyone into a game of 7 minutes in heaven.
You swore you weren’t playing, even when Randy started complaining. No one will go for it unless they think they have a chance with someone as hot as you. Your no stood firm, even when other people started sitting in front of Stu’s guest bathroom.
All you wanted to do was be an observer. To sit next to Randy and to ignore the weird looks Billy and Stu took turns sending you from across the room as you finished off your beer. Instead, you had to watch Stu’s spin land on Tatum, and you had to watch him walk with her to the bathroom with enthusiasm. Those 7 minutes had you getting up to grab another drink that you nearly downed before getting back to your seat.
That was what really set the night off. You had been pacing your drinks before then, wanting to keep the balance between being buzzed enough to be social and drinking enough to become messy. Stu stepping out of the closet with a grin and an arm around an uncharacteristically bashful Tatum pushed you right to that line. Billy ending up in the bathroom with Sidney next is what pushed you over it.
It’s ridiculous, no one can fully control where their spin lands, but it was all too coincidental. Too perfect.
And that’s how you ended up here. In a closet with Jonathan White from your second period. The same Jonathan White that’s always staring at your chest. You’re about two minutes into the most awkward small talk of your life while pretending to not notice his leering and clumsy, half thought out advances when the door opens.
There’s no way that 7 minutes are already up, but you’re too relieved to question it. The calm feeling settling in your chest quickly disappears when you look towards the doorway. Stu’s leaning against the wooden frame, eyes cooly locked on you.
“Dude.” Jonathan’s complaints die down at the back of his throat when Stu turns to look at him. You can’t fully see his expression, but despite how buzzed you are, you don’t miss his unexpected edge.
“It’s my house, dude.” Stu’s reaction isn’t harsh in the way you expect it to be. It’s the calmness of his voice that cuts straight through you. “I can do whatever I want in my house, and you’re not going to stop me.”
You’re not convinced Stu’s talking about his house. “Stu.” You have to bite your tongue to avoid blurting out that nothing was going on. Why should you clear the air? You and Jonathan were far apart, which is more than you can say about him and Tatum. “You’re drunk.”
Stu ignores the touch of warning in your voice. He doesn’t even let himself look in your direction. It’s the only thing he can think to do to associate his anger with someone that isn’t you.
“Whatever,” you breathe, deciding that the best thing you can do to diffuse the tension is to remove yourself from the situation, “I’m getting another drink.”
You skirt past them, practically holding your breath until you’re fully out of the bathroom. No one’s sitting in that lopsided circle anymore. Whatever happened in those few minutes you were in the closet must have killed the mood just enough to end the game. Oh, well, you can’t say you’re too torn up about it.
The alcohol isn’t settling in your stomach as comfortably as you’d like, but you meant what you said. You’re getting another drink. Maybe that will make you feel less like you’re balancing on the edge of a knife.
You walk into the kitchen, frowning when you realize that the big cooler’s empty. It’s probably a sign from the universe to quit while you’re ahead, but you choose to ignore it. Instead of going back to the party and finding either Randy or one of the few familiar faces from some of your classes, you decide to go to Stu’s garage. You know for a fact he keeps extra beer in there.
You step into the space, shutting the door behind you. The separation from the party is refreshing. A part of you regrets coming. Parties suck when you’re not in the specific mood for them. Why are you even here? To sit outside and listen to music that’s too loud while Billy and Stu hook up with their actual girlfriends while you down beer? You don’t even like beer that much.
An idea latches itself onto your mind. You could leave. You could go home, change into pajamas, and pass out in bed. Sure, Billy and Stu wouldn’t be happy with it, especially considering the looks they gave you during spin the bottle, but you’re not happy with them. And why should you stick around in a setting you’re not in the mood for when they’ve been actively ignoring you since you got here? Obviously, they can’t get away with being all lovey dovey, but they could treat you like a friend. Or at the very least, not keep Sidney and Tatum away from you like you’re the plague.
Besides, all you’re going to do is go home and go to bed. If that makes them mad, then that’s their issue. Especially since they want to act all cute when they’re in your room, claim that you’re their actual girlfriend, and then treat you like you’re repulsive in public.
You’re interrupted from your fantasies of just walking out the front door by the sound of the garage door creaking open. You snap your gaze towards it and fight the urge to roll your eyes when you see that it’s Stu. You’re annoyed and tipsy, but still sober enough to know that the last thing you want to do is add any additional fuel to the fire.
He walks towards the refrigerator without looking at you. The silence is starting to get to you as Stu opens the fridge. After a second of him looking around in there, Stu turns towards you. He’s holding your favorite drink. Wordlessly, he twists the cap off before extending an arm.
You blink once, slowly moving your hand to accept his offer. “I didn’t see these.”
Stu casually shrugs, shutting the fridge behind him. “Got them for you, Billy hid them in the back so no one else would grab them. Guess he forgot to tell you.
The ‘forgot’ nearly makes you scoff. They both purposefully ignored you when you first got here and waved at them, and they’ve only looked at you to make you uncomfortable since. But you can’t say that right now. You’re tired and probably more drunk than him. Starting a fight isn’t something you can afford right now.
“Oh,” you mumble, “Thanks.” You bring the drink to your lips, taking a slow sip. “Think I’m gonna go after this.”
“Go?” Something flickers behinds Stu’s expression. “I thought you were staying over.”
A sarcastic comment rises up your throat. After the way they’ve been acting, there’s no way he can think that your ideal ending of tonight is crawling into bed with them. Any bite in you dies down the second you meet his gaze. There’s no way to describe it. Unfeeling.
“I uh-” You tilt your head, playing into your inebriated state. You shift back, which is all the excuse Stu needs to take two steps forward, practically caging you between him and a wall. “I had a little too much to drink and I’m not feeling great. I don’t think I’ll be a lot of fun, I just need to pass out in a dark room before everything starts spinning.”
He doesn’t look convinced or angry or anything. There’s something eerie about the cold indifference he’s radiating. “You wouldn’t lie to me, right, sweetheart?”
You let your eyes drop to the glass bottle in your hand. You take a quick sip. “Was gonna ask you the same thing.” The mumble escapes you before you can think through your slurred words.
Stu takes a step forward. You squeeze the bottle between your fingers a little tighter to avoid shrinking back. “What was that?”
You look up just in time to see Stu tilt his head in order to regard you a little more cautiously. The last time you had a sub in your science class, they played a video about the structure of a predator’s mind and how they prepare to catch their prey. The way Stu’s eyes darken sends you straight back to that classroom.
You can’t tell if the heat that rushes to your face is a tang of fear or something else. Or maybe it’s an uneasy combination of both.
The door squeaks open again. Your head snaps in that direction, but Stu doesn’t look away. He doesn’t even bother putting a less conspicuous amount of space between you.
“You two okay back here?” You let out a breath. It’s just Billy.
“All good,” you manage just as Stu says, “She wants to go.”
You keep your eyes focused on Billy, not wanting to think about Stu that way again. “I’m not feeling great and I’m tired.” The defense is weak, made even more pathetic by the slight pout of your lips. “Plus it’s not like you guys would notice anyway.”
“What?” Billy’s question is oddly gentle.
The whiplash that gives you is nearly enough to make you drop the glass in your hand. You shut your eyes for a second, resting your head against the wall. Everything’s starting to feel a little too fuzzy. “You know what I’m talking about. At my house, it’s all talk about liking me, calling me your girlfriend, and then I get here and you don’t even want to be friends with me.” The blow up doesn’t make you feel better. The room is full on spinning now, you lean completely against the wall so that it can support your weight. Ugh, you know you won’t be able to handle their reaction. “’M tired, and I-I’m feeling weird. I think I should go to bed.”
The quiet that follows has you fighting to not push past both of them in order to get to a bathroom. It’s shattered by Stu’s humorless laugh. His breath is hot against your jaw and it’s too much. “Aw,” he hums, his tone so sweet it circles right back to bitter, “She’s jealous, isn’t that cute?”
You squint your eyes open. “Shut up.”
“Why?” Billy asks, stepping further into the room, “He’s right. You think I didn’t see the way you were looking at me and Sid when we came out of the bathroom?”
You sigh indignantly. “I’m too tired for this.”
“But you weren’t too tired to be all over Randy or Jonathan White?”
Your glare turns into something meek once you see the way Stu’s looking at you. “I wasn’t all over Randy, he was just the only person that was talking to me tonight because of you two. Neither of you even said hi to me and every time I tried talking to Sidney and Tatum, you’d come by and take them away.” The thought of Jonathan makes you sick all over again. “And I was nowhere near Jonathan White, and I’d never be willingly. He’s a total perv, and he made Shannon Walton cry before class the other day. And Shannon Walton’s the nicest, she always has gum and gives everyone her notes if they’re absent.”
Stu doesn’t ease. “Don’t change the subject, you didn’t need to play.”
“You didn’t either,” you counter, “And I-I wasn’t even playing at first. I was just gonna sit in the room so I could keep talking to Randy, and then you two--”
“So you only played because you were jealous.” Billy’s voice has taken on an edge that you don’t like. He continues, walking towards you with even, practically bored steps. “That’s not very nice of you.”
They haven’t been very nice either, you think bitterly. “You started it.”
The childish defense leaves the corner of Billy’s mouth turning upwards. “I’m not all over you for for 5 minutes and you get like this.”
The dismissal makes your face feel warm. “Maybe we should give her a break.” The mocking in Stu’s tone strikes a nerve. “She’s just jealous.” You draw your eyebrows together, and Stu grins meanly. “You’re lucky green’s a pretty color on you, babe.”
Chagrin fuels your reaction as you burst out a too confident, “’M not jealous.”
Stu’s laugh is harsh, “You’re not?”
Pushing down your instincts, you tilt your chin up a fraction of an inch in order to hold your ground. “Can’t be jealous because I know you two are mine.”
At that, they both seem to still. You hold Stu’s stare until you no longer feel like you’re the one that’s trapped. The confidence is likely in your head and a byproduct of all you’ve had to drink, but it gives you the assurance you need to straighten your spine. Stu angles his head to the side and you’re not sure if it’s a good sign or not. To not panic, you extend your arms, resting them around his neck. The nails of the hand that isn’t holding the bottle trail down his neck.
You can’t back out now. The way he’s looking at you changes. You can’t interpret his expression, which only puts you on edge more. He wants to be quiet, to dismiss you in one final, petty jab, but the more your nails dig into sensitive skin, the more he struggles. The nail thing’s a habit you developed after realizing how much it affects him.
“Watch the nails, sweetheart.” It’s meant to seem like a warning, but it slips out of him a little too low. He’s overcompensating to cover for what was almost a whine.
You blink up at him through your eyelashes with maliciously soft eyes. “Starting to hurt?” He’s quiet, you scratch at his skin, hard enough to leave the kind of red marks that disappear almost as soon as they appear.
“This attitude’s cute, but don’t push it.”
Everything from tonight hits you all at once as you tilt your head innocently. “Or what?”
Billy knew that you were treading on ice so thin that even Stu couldn’t see the cracks since before you got here. That one comment you made before they left your place had been harder to deal with than Billy would ever admit. Stu pretended that he was fine with it, that he didn’t feel the strain of panic that comes from feeling like they need you more than you need them. And then you showed up here, as pretty as ever, and basically fine when they started ignoring you. And now this.
It’s a slippery slope. The line between the amount of attitude that gets Stu going and the amount of attitude that pushes him towards something he can’t control is thin.
Billy steals the bottle from your hand and leans forward, grabbing your jaw with his free hand and pulling you into a kiss. It’s so sudden it takes you a second to relax into it. Once you finally do, a small sound escapes you. Billy deepens the kiss with no warning. You clumsily follow his lead despite how much they’ve annoyed you tonight.
He pulls away quickly once he’s sure that the energy in the room has been redirected, resting his forehead against yours. You don’t get the chance to recover. You’re still panting when Stu’s hand finds its way into the roots of your hair. He yanks on it, forcing you towards him.
Stu’s kiss is hard and disorientating. You know that he has a way of being all consuming when he wants to be, but this is something else. You can’t take a full breath, but Stu doesn’t care. He doesn’t let you go until he’s done, and even then he takes his time releasing you, pulling your bottom lip between his teeth.
You’re dizzy and somehow even drunker than before. You reach for Stu unsteadily. He looks you over slowly. “You get her in bed and I’ll figure out how to start kicking people out.”
Billy places an arm around your waist. His lack of protest surprises you slightly, but you’re not complaining about it. You need his help, and Billy knows it. That, paired with the fact that this is the only time he has an excuse to publicly hold onto you, makes him love when nights end like this.
He always has an excuse ready in case Sid or someone else notices. Y/n can’t handle her alcohol and she’d kill all of us if we let her go home like this. She’s gonna sleep it off in Stu’s room for a little. It’s basically true, and it also gives Billy the excuse to linger around you. There are a lot of people that’d take advantage of your situation. Sid can’t be mad at that, if anything, she’d be mad at him for knowing how vulnerable you were and not doing anything.
Billy leads you into Stu’s room, abandoning your last drink on the first surface he finds. He sits you down on the edge of Stu’s bed before opening one of Stu’s drawers. “Here,” he tosses one of Stu’s T-shirts towards you, “You got it or you need help?”
Shutting the drawer, Billy turns back to you. You’re laying down now, not even under the sheets. “You can’t fall asleep like that.”
“Mhm,” you mumble, face half buried into your mattress.
With a sigh, Billy walks towards you. He grabs your arm, pulling on you until you’re finally sitting. With a bit of prompting, you stand. Billy watches you struggle for a second before sighing. He keeps you steady as you get out of your clothes and pulls Stu’s T-shirt over your head.
You’re too tired to care about the fact that you’re supposed to be mad at him. “Bed now?”
Billy cups your cheek, his thumb soothingly brushing against your skin. “Last time I let you pass out before washing your face, you made me promise to never let it happen again.”
----
You don’t know how long you’ve been asleep when an unexpected pressure stirs you awake. Ignoring the feeling, you try rolling over in order to pull the covers up to your neck. Something doesn’t let you.
“You’re up,” Stu whispers against your hair, “You’re up, you’re okay.”
Twisting so that you’re flat on your black, you squint your eyes open. It’s still dark, so you know it’s still night time. You don’t remember exactly how you got here, but you know that you were comfortable. You also only vaguely remember the weirdness and your anger from earlier. 7 minutes in heaven thanks to Randy, a bit of confrontation in the garage. It feels less important now.
Smiling, you slowly extend your until your knuckles are brushing against his cheek. “What time is it?”
“Late,” Stu answers.
“Then wh--”
“Need my goodnight kisses,” he breathes, pressing a few, quick kisses to your temple.
You smile, “Thought you were mad a--”
Stu’s fingers squeeze your hips. “Don’t want to talk about that.” If you were less drowsy, you might have jumped a little. “I just want to go to sleep.”
Nodding you reach for him a little steadier now. Stu relents, leaning into you as you start to kiss his cheek.
Billy’s hand finds your waist just as you start relaxing again. “What about me?”

SMG4 woke up in a great mood as he checked his text messages, he never knew that being on cloud nine could feel so amazing. He also never thought that the day would come that he would have fallen for his ex rival, thinking back on it he should have seen this coming with how close they got. He changes out of his pj’s then goes to brush his teeth, looking at his phone he lets out a soft giggle seeing an invite to the cafe. Spitting out the paste he dashes to get his hat ready for his first real date.
Spade watches the others leave the cafe, he feels nervous as he walks around the cafe. Hearing the front door open he jumps only to see Melony show up “Oh fuck Mel you scared the shit out of me, im guessing you already know whats happening?” she nods, giving him a warm smile. Seeing her smile helps get the personality to relax, maybe they should have a talk with SMG3 about how much they see Melony as their daughter. His eyes get wide seeing Four walking over, he grabs Melony arm and tosses her over the counter to hide her.
She rubs her head and frowns as she peeks over the counter, SMG4 walks in waving at Spade “Hey! Thanks for inviting me so what's the plans for the day?” Spade sighs as he opens the door for his boyfriend. “Well if I remember correctly when we were looking for memes, there was a carnival we didn't really get to enjoy.” Four’s eyes light up as he grabs Spades hand causing the man to blush “I haven't been to the carnival in years…since uh i attempted to be a ringmaster to earn money for the castle i have been a bit nervous to walk into one.” Spade let out an awkward chuckle remembering the bunny ears and the threat of leaking SMG3 browser history, thinking it over they need to also talk about a better way to look those things up.
They walk out holding hands as Spade does his best to not shake the man’s hand off, Melony seeing them on the move starts to go after them. She puts on sunglasses and watches them from a distance as they walk into the carnival, Four looked around excited seeing all the meme themed prizes he knew what he had to do. This was his time to shine, he walks up to a basketball game the goal being you have to score at least 30 points to win a prize. SMG4 smirks, grabbing a ball and slamming a few bills on the counter. Spade leans back against the wall ready to watch his date fail, Four spins the ball on his finger “See four you may have beaten thanks to luigi in our basketball match long ago, but now we are in my playing field welcome to the SMG4 show!”
Spade couldnt help letting out a chuckle “Alright stop being a fucking showman and throw the ball!” Four throws the ball and manages to get a few points, he turns giving a wink to Spade making him blush “Just focus on the game..baka.”
Melony smiles watching the date till she notices someone walking towards them, he slips his hand into his pocket taking out a dart gun. Melony glares as she half transforms rushing over knocking the weapon out of the pianta's hand then points her sword at his neck “Why are you after Three and the others? Why won't you leave my friends alone!?” he chuckles as he reaches out and grabs the sword “Something big is coming girly and we need that personality!” He kicks Melony away from him, cutting his hand with the sword. Looking around in a panic she throws the sword pinning the man's shirt to the ground “I won't let no one hurt my friends again!”
SMG4 growls as Spade laughs at him “Oh fuck did you choke? Only twenty points?! Pathetic, how about a real man show you how it's done.” he flashes his sharp teeth making Fours face turn deep red. As he watched Spade walk to the game he wondered if SMG3 was always so sharp. His eyes then go wide seeing Spade making every shot like it was nothing, he frowns he wanted to impress his boyfriend and instead made himself look like an idiot. He felt the world closing in on him, if cant do something that simple how could he really stay by his ex rival side. Spade blinks noticing Four was acting strange, he sighs walking up and pulls his partner into a hug blushing “Stop thinking you idiot, not everyone can be good at everything, thought we learn this lesson nobody is perfect.”
SMG4 wraps his arms around Spade holding him tight till he feels the light return, he lets go giving a shy smile “Thanks…you always seem to know what to say,” Spade chuckles putting on fake glasses “I am a therapist you know!”
They both chuckle as they walk to a different game in the carnival, Melony sighs making sure no one else is around before following them. She was concerned by what the man told her, as she watched over the date she got into more combat. SMG3 wasn't joking about how Spade needed protection on the date, she sighs feeling nervous for what this could mean for her friends. She already lost someone she loved, no way can she lose someone she saw as a father.
The pair chatted as they played more carnival games, SMG4 was having a fun time which was surprising. The pair spent so long fighting that it felt so strange to be here next to each other in peace, he looks to his side watching Spade point the toy gun and fire at the targets. He blushes watching the man, before hearing a noise making him turn around “Is that Melony?”
Hearing his boyfriend he panicked, grabbing Fours hand and running off “HEY I'M PRETTY DONE WITH THE CARNIVAL HOW ABOUT WE GO BACK TO THE CAFE!”  Four was surprised by the sudden switch from his date. Spade's mind was filled with murderous thoughts, the fact that the one time he let his guard down the gang had the nerve to attack made him want to join Melony and show them pain. He looks behind him seeing a confused Four, he knew if he acted dumb his idiot boyfriend would get hurt and the original wouldn't be happy about that.  They walk into the cafe, Spade awkwardly looks away “Look i…you see…” he sighs annoyed he cant express his emotion.
SMG4 giggles, taking his hand and gently giving it a kiss like some kind of fairytale prince. Spades face goes red at the action “Don't worry, it was a lot for our first date. Honestly I'm just happy we were able to see what a date would be like, it felt nice and I can't wait to be with you more Three.” Spade felt himself get shy “Whatever not like I had fun or anything but since you want to i guess we can go again…” SMG4 giggles at his reaction as they both go to sit at a cafe table.
Melony seeing the pair safe let out a sigh of relief, she was feeling exhausted from all the fighting. She notices someone walking to the showground, she smiles seeing who it is and runs towards the person.
Spade was trying so hard not to scream as he sat beside SMG4, the man was gushing about his newest video and he was too adorable for the tsundere to handle. The way his blue eyes lit up describing how he edited a certain part, the excitement in his voice made Spade heart skip a beat. Suddenly his thoughts were broken when Four asked him a question "Hey do you have any left over coffee? I have a long night to finish this video!" Spade waved his hand happy to be taken out of his thoughts "I'm sure there is a cup in the fridge you can take that."
Four gives a shy smile as he pats Spades hand, he walks over to the fridge and sees the cup. Grabbing it he takes a tiny sip. "Huh cherry didn't know he serves this kind, warming it I'm sure it would be delicious." He walks up to Spade showing the cup "I got it thanks! I see you're working your way up to best boyfriend!" Spade blushes and rolls his eyes "Shut it baka!" Four felt strange as he stared at Spade. His eyes flickered pink catching Spades attention "Hey are you-" before he could finish Four grabs Spades overall straps and pulled him in for a kiss.
They pulled away both blushing "I...uh okay didn't know coffee got you like that Four," SMG4 eyes go back to normal and start to panic as his face goes crimson red. Spade chuckles at the reaction forgetting his own flustered thoughts, he leans close smirking "Well then Blue thanks for the fun date, enjoy your coffee~" his flirtatious tone surprised SMG4 making him dash out of the cafe flustered. Why did he even do that?
He was so confused as he entered the castle, he looked at his reflection and saw his eyes flicker pink for a moment then purple. He rubs his eyes and they are back to his iconic blue, he must be sleepy from the events of the day. He takes the cup of coffee he got from his boyfriend and pours it into a cup to warm it up. He can feel his eyes getting irritated, he takes out his phone to look and sees more colors flicker "Red? Ugh I need to get out more if one date has me like this."
He hums, taking his warm cup of coffee out of the microwave and walks to his desk. He was home after a fun day now it's time to work, as he starts to edit he chugs the drink "Man Three really should make more cherry coffee. This is great! As he kept working on his project he started to feel strange, he blinked trying to shake off the strange feeling. He gets up to splash water on his face when the world starts to change color, he falls to the floor as everything goes dark.
"Oh god we killed him, what are we going to do our friends will hate us!" one of the voices yelled in a panic while another one laughed "We are the main character like we could die!" SMG4 groans getting up and looking around the room. He was about to let out a sigh of relief that he dreamed up the voices only to hear frantic typing behind him. He slowly turns to look at the person typing "It needs to be perfect oh god if it isn't we will lose subscribers." he slowly approaches the person to see it was him in Grey. SMG4's mind went blank as the other him turned and smiled "WE DIDN'T KILL THE ORIGINAL THANK MEMES!" he got up hugging the man "I put you in bed because i knew everyone would hate us if we left you on the floor! I'm sorry this all happened!"
SMG4 slips out of the hug giving a fearful smile as he darts out of the room and dashes to the cafe he slams the door open, scaring his boyfriend. Three jumps then turned to him "The hell Blue cant you enter my cafe like...hey are you okay?" SMG4 shakes his head freaking out "I think the lack of sleep is getting to me Three...i saw another me editing my own video!" SMG3 drops the cup in his hand hearing his words and runs to the castle, he goes to Fours room and there was all the proof he needed. The grey colored SMG4 jumps up looking at him "Oh..hello um uh...T-three."
"I...how are you here? What are you to SMG4?" his mind was racing; he just had to say goodbye to his own personalities and  now Four had his own. The grey Four blushes "Nice to meet you both, you can call me Producer im SMG4 insecurity and his needs to be perfect."
Hearing this, Four grabs his hat freaking out "HE IS MY WHAT?!" Three nods "Nice to meet you Producer, the others I'm guessing are outside?" Four now looked ready to have a heart attack "OTHERS!? THREE WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?" seeing how panicked his boyfriend is he gently rubs his back. He helps the man slow down his breathing before pointing to his pins "It's a long story to a long day of my life, but given you're in a similar boat take a seat." He sits down then notices that Producer nervously sits next to him writing in a notepad. Whatever was going on SMG4 had a feeling he wasn't going to like where the day takes him.

Im almost done with chapter 1 of My Alpha, I know I've gotten some messages about that!! Also, half way through chapter 2 of Midnight rain ;) Enjoy! Let me know your thoughts on this!! love you guys!!!)
Thoughts? Suggestions? General opinion wanted here!!!!!
You’d be delusional to think that he wanted anything more than hookups with you. Being a movie star was hard enough to make a “normal” life ...falling in love with your co-star though...that made everything even worse. That’s what led you to becoming a world famous pop star, releasing smash hit after smash hit. Your smile; when up on that stage, tens of thousands of fans screaming your songs as you sang them, standing ovations, tears of happiness, excitement, thrill, it all made that heartache ease just a little bit. But not all the way.
“Tonight is a HUGE night, I can’t believe you’re going to announce another album. I’m in awe, really I am.” Your mom said, grabbing your shoulders and looking at you in the mirror of the room you were currently using backstage. “Mom, thanks so much for traveling with me during this tour. It means so much to me.” you smiled softly at her, “especially after everything I’ve been through recently. Wanna know the surprise songs tonight? Or just be surprised like everyone else?” you asked with a soft laugh.
Your mom and dad were your biggest and best fans you could have ever asked for. Even during the worst time of your life, you’d had your parents support when changing careers. “Awe, let me be surprised like everyone else dear. Your cue is up….come on,” she gave you a big hug and kissed your cheek. “You’re going to be amazing, just like every other night” she beamed before walking out of your dressing room.
You stared in the mirror, touching up your red lipstick before turning around and walking out. Your bejeweled bodysuit in the colors of your most favorite album you’d put out, pinks and blues. You smiled at the stage crew and everyone working behind the scenes as you walked with your assistant. “Another great sold out crowd out there, the VIP tent is dead center, lots of celebrities are here tonight too.” She smiled before you walked away standing on your mark.
Listening to the entrance music you’d had custom made, caused the memories to flood your mind.
You looked over at him grinning as you both reached for a piece of popcorn. “Soooo I thought you wanted to do something else when you asked me to come to your hotel room 10:30 at night.” you smirked as he laughed, throwing his head back. “While yes, I’d love to do that too….I figured it would be nice to watch a movie or two, enjoy a snack and relax together too. I ordered some wine and chocolate covered strawberries too.” he said leaning closer to you, as you bit your lip leaning into him, letting his lips brush yours. The next thing you knew, he had you pinned to the bed, popcorn littering the floor as he kissed down your neck, slowly pushing your shirt off and attacking your chest.
“Ready? Have fun!!” Your assistant shouted over the music and screaming fans as the platform started to bring you up from under the stage. You plastered a grin on your lips and got in your stance with your mic.
The moment your back up dancers pulled back the large fabric fans to reveal you, you began to sing one of your songs. The roar of screams, cheers and cries erupted throughout the entire stadium as you came into sight for everyone. The platform continued to rise as you sang, smiling at everyone.
“It's you and me, that's my whole world
They whisper in the hallway, "She's a bad, bad girl"
Oh, I just thought you should know (you should know)
It's you and me, there's nothing like this (like this)
Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince (okay)
We're so sad, we paint the town blue (paint it blue)
Voted most likely to run away with you.”
The music ended as everyone cheered even louder and you laughed softly, the platform lowering back to the mainstage level; you grinned as the next song began instantly. You loved performing for a crowd, they never made you feel like you weren’t worth the love and attention. You strut toward the front of the stage, beginning to sing the bridge, along with the crowd, when a sight almost threw you off your performance. He stood there in the VIP tent with a cold beer in one hand, his other arm around the shoulders of a petite brunette.
“I'm drunk in the back of the car
And I cried like a baby coming home from the bar (oh)
Said, "I'm fine, " but it wasn't true
I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you
And I snuck in through the garden gate
Every night that summer just to seal my fate (oh)
And I screamed for whatever it's worth
"I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?
He looks up grinning like a devil”
You belt out the bridge, the crowd screaming louder toward the end. You tried to not to look at the VIP tent, the urge to see him again, standing there happy with some other girl, you danced around, happily grinning at the crowd, encouraging them to sing along. You finally took a break, smiling wide as everyone clapped and cheered. “Hi!” you said cheerfully. “My name is Y/N and welcome to The Eras Tour,” you grinned as the stadium erupted again.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone who is here tonight and I hope that I don’t disappoint. I usually perform only two surprise songs a night, however, I’m feeling…fun tonight, so I want to add another song to the list for you all. It’s one that I don't usually perform live. But, I hope you enjoy it.” you smiled as the platform rose and you looked around, the soft jazz music starting as loud cheers erupted. You couldn't stop the smile that landed on your face as you began to sing.
“We were crazy to think
Crazy to think that this could work
Remember how I said I'd die for you?
We were stupid to jump
In the ocean separating us
Remember how I'd fly to you?
And I can't talk to you when you're like this
Staring out the window like I'm not your favorite town
I'm New York City
I still do it for you, babe
They all warned us about times like this
They say the road gets hard and you get lost when you're led by blind faith
Blind faith”
You smiled looking around, your eyes landed on him again, he had a look in his eyes, just like how he used to look at you, hunger and desperation for your touch. You put your lips back up to the microphone and made eye contact with him again.
“But we might just get away with it
Religion's in your lips
Even if it's a false god
We'd still worship
We might just get away with it
The altar is my hips
Even if it's a false god
We'd still worship this love
We'd still worship this love
We'd still worship this love
I know heaven's a thing
I go there when you touch me
Honey hell is when I fight with you”
You didn’t mean to stare for so long, but the way he looked at you, watching your body move. You wanted to jump off stage and run into his arms again, kissing him, telling him how in love with him you still were, even after the three years that had passed. You felt a tightness in your chest when the girl turned and kissed his neck, and began to dance with him.
You finished the song not soon after and took a small bow as everyone screamed out. You stood still smiling as the platform began to lower, before diving off to get changed. “I need a minute,” you said as your assistant came up to you. She looked slightly confused as they began to help you into your next outfit. How were you going to continue this concert with him staring at you? You didn’t think you could do it honestly.
“I can’t believe you changed the set list, We’re going to have to cut one of the surprise songs.” You looked at her. “No we can’t but we are changing them tonight.” you said as they did up the back of your dress. “What?! Why!” she gasped. “Chris is here,” you said looking at her as her face fell. “With some girl.” she sighed putting a hand on her head “Jesus fucking Christ……okay. Tell me what you need.” you looked at her again as tears filled your eyes. “I need a fucking minute.” you grabbed the new mic rushing off.

Johnnie Guilbert x Fem!Reader.
Chapter 23.
"Is that taco bell breakfast i smell?" jake said, sounding as if he was about to start floating to locate the smell. he turned the corner into the kitchen, where i was sitting with tara.
it was 7 in the morning, and the 4 of us were about to go finally pack up my old apartment. they insisted on helping despite me saying i could get it all done myself since i didn't own much anyway.
"Yes, jake." she rolled her eyes, tossing him his usual order. he squeeled like a little girl before tearing into the wrap.
"im gonna go get johnnie up." i walked down the hall towards our room and walked in silently.
johnnie laid on the bed with a peaceful look on his face. his arms were tucked awkwardly under his head as his legs were tangled in the blankets.
i gently shook his shoulder, placing a kiss on his forehead. "Good morning, sleepy head. we have breakfast."
he rubbed his eye, black eyeshadow transferring to his finger. "mornin'." he pulled me in, kissing me softly before sitting up. "When you were asleep, i organized the closet. you can fit your clothes in half of it now."
"Oh my god, really?" i furrowed my eyebrows, a small smile growing on my face.
"i mean, yeah. where else are you going to put your clothes?" he slipped on his socks and stood up.
his fingers tangled with mine as he led me back into the kitchen and sat down next to me. he rested his hand right above my knee as Jake immediately started a conversation with them. i passed johnnie his breakfast, and he dug in, clearly starving.
jake looked down at his phone, "what time do you think we'll be done?"
"Well, im not too sure. i mean, theres 5 of us packing up my tiny apartment, so it's probably around noon." i thought outloud, earning a 'hm' from jake.
everyone had finished their food. jake and tara went to get their shoes on and start the car while johnnie went to take off his makeup. i sat in the kitchen on my phone, waiting for johnnie to be done.
"Ready to go?" he asked, his clean face making me smile. it wasn't often i got to see him without makeup.
"mhm." i stood up and stretched. i put my hair into a messy bun to get it out of the way before walking out the door, johnnie not far behind me. "Thank you again for helping with all of this."
"Don't thank me." he hesitated as if he was going to add onto the sentence. he gently rubbed my lower back.
i hummed, "Okay, then."
Johnnie and i sat in the back of jakes car while him and Tara were up front. I zoned out. thinking about my old apartment made me nervous. although i wasn't going alone, something still felt off. after the incident and how easily i got imhured, i didn't want the same to happen to them. Or maybe it was the fact that my creepy old neighbor lent me a piece to a vaccum, and i still need to give it back, but i seriously doubted that was the reason. i decided to shove my paranoia down as i didn't want to let it ruin my day.
it was if i had blinked and we were already there. i picked my head up, rubbing the cheek that was leaning on my arm.
"i was room number 206," i commented, pulling the keys out of my pocket.
"i can't believe theres not a fucking elevator. This bitch has 5 stories." Jake complained as we tromped up the stairs.
"Just be glad she's not on the 5th one," tara wiped smudged lip gloss off the corner of her mouth.
"Exactly," johnnie nods, slightly out of breath.
i unlocked my front door and pushed it open, revealing my still messy apartment. "Oh, i never came back to clean up." i admitted, even though it was plain to see.
"dont worry about it, missy." jake teased in his southern accent.
tara and jake covered the kitchen while johnnie and i started in the living room. we all added songs to the spotify queue and got to work. i was smart enough to keep boxes stored in my closet. There was always a just in case thing. The living room was nearly empty, the only furniture consisting of a rug and a small sofa that i planned on putting by the trash for someone else to take. i didn't have much decoration, either. All that i had was a painting, my mother had made me and a thrifted portrait of marilyn monroe. The only other things on the wall were some empty colorful vases on a small shelf.
we quickly wrapped those up while tara and jake stacked all of my plates and bowls in between wash cloths. I announced we were moving to a different room before heading into the hall to focus on the closet.
The closet didn't take much work. We shoved blankets and towels into one big box before moving on to my bedroom.
my room was a much bigger task, considering this was the room i spent most of my time in. i sat at my vanity and began packing it up while Johnnie took over the closet.
"i want to stream later, and i was wondering if you wanted to be on it." Johnnie mentioned, bagging up clothes that were hung up.
"Sure, that sounds fun. im still kind of nervous though, what if your fans don't like me?" i glanced over.
"They'll love you, i promise." he smiled at me. "i was thinking i could do your makeup for the stream."
"fuck yeah." i agreed, standing up and making my way to my side table. "Didn't we make those plans a while ago?"
"Yeah, but then a bunch of shit happened. and i figured since we're together now, everyone should get to know you a little better." A light blush spread across his face.
"Good idea. im down," i agreed.
The rest of the house was packed up within the next 3 hours. Jake and i moved all of the furniture down to the garbage bins, with little help from tara and johnnie. i took one last look at my empty apartment before locking it up and turning in my keys.

Tumblr media
It’d been a week and a half since John had arrived to your mission site. Since then, he’d done nothing but take care of you and be at your beckon call. You were feeling much better and began to feel like yourself today.
Currently, you were sat in John’s cabin he had on base, waiting for Tia to call so you could see the boys. You and John were anxious to see them and hear their little giggles.
The phone began to ring as John quickly answered the video call. A young girl, blonde and blue eyed appeared on the phone, Tia you came to know. “Hi guys! The boys are anxious to see you!” Her voice was chipper.
John spoke immediately while you gave a small wave. “Tia! It’s good to hear from you! How have you been? Everything to your liking?”
“Hey John! Everything’s been great! You have the comfiest bed ever. I wouldn’t mind sleeping in it forever!” She lets out a laugh. “The boys have been nothing but pleasant, and the accommodations have been so amazing. I love it here and I think the boys love me too.”
As she says that, I hear the familiar playful scream of Soap and I tear up. John speaks again, “I’m glad you’re comfortable and that the boys haven’t scared you away yet.” They continue light conversation, and I hear Soap’s excited little scream again.
It causes me to cut her off, “I’m sorry, can we see them? I’m dying to see my boys.” She apologizes and chuckles, then sets the phone up so we can see the three boys sitting on the ground.
Soap immediately starts flapping his arms and squealing. “Hi Soap! Hi honey!” I saw giddily and he responds to my voice with more squealing and a goofy smile. It makes me heart swell.
“Hi boys!” John says and Gaz crawls to the camera and begins to tear up. “Oh it’s ok! We’ll be back soon! Don’t cry!” John cooes over the phone.
Soap is a giggling mess, trying to grab the camera and put it in his mouth, but before Tia can react or John or me can talk him out of it, two little hands grab it and we are met with Simon’s little face. “Hi honey! How’s my Simon?” He giggled as he held the phone way too close to his face. “I miss you!!” I continue to coo as we hear excited grunts come from him.
“LIEUTENANT!!” I hear the familiar yell of Captain Snyder. I look over to John, and he can tell I’m dreading what comes next.
“Hey Tia, it was great to talk to you, but duty calls. I’ll call to check in later tonight.” With that, John ended the call. “It’s alright, he’s not going to do anything to you.”
Captain Snyder doesn’t even knock, just barges into the door, staring down John and I. “Captain?! What is she doing here? She needs to be-“
“She does what I say and I said she’s on rest until she’s cleared by medical.” John’s tone went dark as he spoke to Snyder, not even allowing him to finish his sentences.
“You do not interrupt me Captain! I am her mission leader and I say she needs to go run laps for each day she’s missed. She looks just fine to me.”
John stood, towering over Snyder easily. Snyder adjusted his posture to try to match John’s height, but alas, doesn’t measure up. “I wonder how you even made it through boot Snyder. You listen as well as a toddler. I am her Captain, and she will follow my orders only, even after I am gone. I said she’s on rest, so that’s what she’s doing. Do you understand?”
“You are not assigned to this mission as leader! You are simply-“
“I said do you understand?” John stayed calm, but was somehow so threatening.
“No! I have a problem with-“
Once again, John cut him off. “If you have a problem, then you can feel free to call General Shepard and I’m sure he will be happy to tell you about how Lieutenant L/N is under my command only. Are we clear?”
You felt frozen as you heard John speak this way. It was both attractive and yet somehow frightening. Snyder took a deep breath before he spoke. “I will speak with the General then.” He turned on his heel and exited the cabin.
When he did, John immediately switched back into the doting partner you’ve come to know. “I’m sorry you had to see that.” His voice was now sweet again.
“Can I be honest?” You chewed on your bottom lip as you began to conceal a laugh.
“Always my love.”
“That was kind of hot.” The laugh escaped you as the words left your mouth. John looked you up and down before he chuckled himself.
“Was it?” He growled.
“It so was.” He swooped you up and laid you down on his bed.
“Hmm, too bad it’s time for us to hit the hay. We’ve got a big day tomorrow.” John immediately flopped down on top of you, crushing you underneath him as he pretended to snore.
“John!!” You giggled, “I can’t breathe! Get off!!” You laughed loudly as you pushed him off of you. He fell next to you on the bed as he opened his eyes and stopped the snoring noise. “You’re such a dork.”
“I love you.” John’s change in demeanor took you a moment to adjust to. “I really do.”
“John, I love you too.” You say it back.
“No, I’m serious.” John sat up, and you followed his motion.
“I know you are, so am I.”
“No, Y/N, listen to me. When we get back, I want to get serious about us. Get a place outside of the compound, move in together, start our life. We don’t know how long the boys will be little, or if they’ll ever turn back. I want to put us at an advantage if we ever decide to have littles of our own. I want you to be my wife one day, when you’re ready.”
You couldn’t help but tear up. He’d rendered you speechless.
Your little life with John. A house, married, enjoying the little things. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted and more. “I can’t wait.” You say.
The moon falls and the sun rises quicker than you’d like it to and morning pours into the cabin. “Good morning dear.” John’s voice filled your ears. You hummed in response, burying yourself back into the blankets. “You’ve got a lot on your schedule today, you gotta get up baby.”
With a groan, you sat up and saw him in full uniform. “I don’t want to do this today.”
Today you had to get your health evaluation to see if you were fit to return to work, and you knew they’d pass you. You loved watching the embassy, but you didn’t like being under the gaze of Captain Snyder. You knew he’d work you like a dog the moment you got the green light, with or without John’s protection.
“Oh hold on love, it’s Tia. I wanna make sure nothings wrong.” John answered his phone, a sing-songy voice coming out of him as he spoke to Tia. He excused himself as he stepped out of earshot of you.
Dismissing it, you drug yourself out of bed and got into uniform, preparing yourself for the worst. You hoped that Snyder would take it easy on you after the critical condition you and many other soldiers had been in, but you knew you didn’t have that luck.
Looking down, your watch signaled you needed to go, so you went to go grab John, but he was still on the phone.
You pointed to your watch, telling him you both needed to head to medical. “Yeah, that’s what I’m saying.” He laughs as he noticed you. “Hold on Tia.” He covers the bottom of his phone as he tilts it away from his mouth. “I’ll meet you there honey. Tia needs me right now.” He shoots you a sympathetic smile, and you assume it’s a problem with the boys.
Right?
You walk to medical and can’t help but think about Tia. John has been talking to her a lot, is everything ok? Has somebody found out about the boys? Has Shephard noticed her on base? Were the boys okay?
A million thoughts ran through your mind as you felt the scorching heat of the desert sun against your skin. You just hoped whatever it was, John would handle it quickly. You needed him here with you for this.
Entering the tent, you saw Snyder sitting there waiting for you. “Ah, little miss is alone today huh? No big bad wolf to protect you when they clear you for work?”
“Enough. I’m not dealing with your attitude anymore. I’m going to lead my squad and get the fuck home sir.” Snyder was taken aback from your words, but smirked.
“She’s got her own bite now.” You rolled your eyes at him as the nurse came out.
“Wait, we’re waiting on one more person. A couple of minutes please?”
The nurse hesitated, but she said she could allow 10 minutes. Those 10 minutes turned into 15, then 20, then 25. No John.
“I’m sorry, but I really have to get started now. We’ll be more behind than we already are if I don’t.” The nurse rubbed your shoulder as she spoke sympathetically.
“Okay.” You looked to the entrance, hoping he’d make it at the last minute, but alas, nothing.
Snyder watched in anticipation as you completed each test with flying colors. “Alright Lieutenant, you can return to work tomorrow. I’m glad to see you back to yourself.” The nurse handed you a slip with her signature.
Snyder came up behind you and slapped your shoulder as the nurse walked away. “You’re mine as soon as your guard dog leaves.”
You jerked your shoulder away from him as you glared. “Good luck with that.”
Walking away, you heard Snyder yell one more remark. “You will obey your superior unless you want home base hearing about your disobedience for direct orders? That’s a direct dishonorable discharge, isn’t it Lieutenant?”
You knew he was right. “They’d never believe you sir. I’m getting my mission done.” Standing your ground, you said it over your shoulder.
“Try me little girl.” Snyder had nothing but pride and malice in his voice. Sighing, you turned around and walked out.
Completing a couple of other items on your agenda like weapon expection and ration hand outs, you finally headed back to Price’s larger tent.
His bellowing laugh filled your ears before you even entered. You peeked in to see him holding his phone in front of his face, maybe he was seeing the boys or watching a video.
“I’m so glad I got to talk to ya T. Good to hear from you as always. I hope my room makes a good home for you.” You froze.
What?
It wasn’t super weird for him to say, but it still made you uncomfortable. As wrong as you knew it was, you continued to listen. “Always John. The boys miss you and we can’t wait for you to get back.”
John laughed. “How sweet. It sounds like they might be sending me earlier than we thought. Originally it was going to be 3 weeks, but it sounds like I’m leaving in the next couple of days. I’ll be home sooner than we anticipated. It just gives us more time I suppose.”
He’s going home early and didn’t even tell you?
“Yeah! I’m so excited for you to be back! I can’t wait for everything we’ve got planned.” You hear her giggle.
“Me too, we’re going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to see you.” John and Tia muttered a few giddy goodbyes and that’s when you decided to just go back to your own tent.
What was that? You had to misunderstand it right? There had to be context to that conversation. There had to be a logical explanation. Maybe they’re planning for her to be a permanent babysitter?
You wracked your brain for any possible scenario where it didn’t sound like John was cheating on you, and while you came up with a few, something just didn’t sit right with you.
“Hey baby? I’ve been looking for you. What’re you doing here?” John poked his head into your tent.
“You were still on the phone when I came to yours, so I decided to just leave ya alone to finish the call.”
“Oh Y/N, I’m sorry. You should’ve came in anyways! I would’ve hung up, it was just Tia. She was telling me about the day the boys had. Apparently Soap took a few steps today. Simon threw a block at her.”
You couldn’t help the laugh that escaped you. “Simon is probably trying to talk to her.”
“Yeah, I didn’t tell her he does that though. Our little secret huh?” And just like that, all your worries melted away. There was no way he’d cheat on you, let alone with a much younger girl like Tia.
“Our little secret.” You repeated his words. “You’ll love me forever right? You’d never keep anything from me?”
“I will love you until my dying breath, and even more in death. You are my light, my life. I would never hurt you.” Melting into his words, you planted a kiss on his lips.
“I love you.”
“I love you too doll.”
And the world faded away as you cherished this moment with him. Your John was right in front of you, and he had a way to keep your anxieties at bay with just 5 simple words. You leaned into him, taking in his presence.
If only he didn’t have to leave you here in 3 days.
If only he’d told you about it before he left.
If only you hadn’t woken up in his tent alone, with nothing but a note.

Rating: M for Mature (18 + no minors allowed)
Word Count: 3.5K
Warning: All warnings on the Series Masterlist, will update if necessary (Re-iterating, no minors allowed! Thank you)
Chapter Summary: Every morning, at dawn, for the past fortnight you meet Aemond Targaryen. Will today change things for the better between you two?
Notes: Hello everyone!!! I am writing earlier because I had this scene in my head that I could not fit into a regular plot-driven chapter because it was so long. So instead I turned it into a little interlude between chapters 4 and 5. It focuses on our favourite couple and if you have a thing for the whole regency "OMG THEY GRAZE EACH OTHER!" You will like that one. Its a bit angsty but with loads of fluff at the end. Hope you like it and like always LMK what you all think!
Thank you again to all of you who take the time to comment, like and reblog, you are all so kind and I love you all so much!!! 💜💚💜
See you in the next one xxx

At Dawn
In Starfall, you had been a ghost, haunting its ancient halls. You cherished the late hours, those quiet moments under the cover of darkness where the sky was a canvas of stars. To you, each star was not just a celestial spark but a guardian soul, a sentinel silently watching over the world from the heavens – you imagined they were looking after you when you needed them the most. This nightly ritual, however, came at a cost — mornings often found you rising late, the consequence of surrendering to the tranquil embrace of moonlit solitude.
In King's Landing, the luxuries of being a ghost were behind you. Now, well before the first golden rays of sunlight peeked over the horizon, with the dawn barely painting the sky in hues of timid pink and soft orange, Prince Aemond would be at your door ready to eat his morning meal in your company.
Yawning, you gathered your hair, weaving it into a simple yet elegant half-up, half-down style. It framed your face in a way you found particularly becoming. But these early hours beckoned for self-sufficiency as you didn’t wish to disturb your handmaiden at such a time. Thus, you had grown accustomed to readying yourself alone in the quiet of dawn, opting for dresses that required no assistance to don. Today, you chose one of your favorites, a dress perhaps a tad too short by King’s Landing standards, ending mid-calf. Its design was a mixture of airy fabrics and light silks that embraced your form in a flattering caress, and its deep blue hue complemented your complexion beautifully.
Gently, you pressed your fingers to your cheeks, coaxing a rosy flush to the surface. Despite the early hour, it was important to you to look and feel your best. Right on schedule, the familiar, soft knocking at the door signaled his arrival, accompanied by a gentle, "My lady," floating through the wood. A smile spread across your face at the sound. Each dawn spent with Aemond only deepened your desire to spend more time in his company. To learn all you could about this dragonrider, this will-be husband.
You gave yourself a final glance in the mirror before sauntering towards the door. With a playful lilt in your voice, you called out, "And who might be serenading my door at this ungodly hour?"
From the other side came Aemond's mock-serious reply, "My lady, should there be another suitor at your door at this time, I fear I must step in to defend my betrothed honor. A fight to the death perhaps?"
Your laughter rang out, rich and unrestrained, as you swung the door open. Leaning casually against the frame, hand perched on your hip, you greeted him teasingly, "Ah, what a sight – A fierce dragon graces my doorstep."
Aemond rolled his eye, the man teetering between amusement and exasperation, before offering a polite bow of his head. Over his shoulder, you caught sight of Perros, his expression a perfect study in stoic disapproval. Ever since these dawn meetings with Aemond had become a routine, Perros had appointed himself your unofficial chaperone. Chaperoning had never been a tested custom of Dornish culture, but due to his protective nature, Perros had still not warmed up one bit to the idea of the betrothal, even after a fortnight under the Targaryen royal roof and he was looking for anything to hold against Aemond.
You stepped aside, allowing room for Aemond and Perros to enter. Perros, ever the vigilant guardian, promptly made his way to his usual spot in the corner. There, he brooded, his gaze sharp and watchful, tracking every interaction between you and Aemond with hawk-like intensity.
You recalled a morning some days ago when Aemond, in a rare moment of clumsiness, had spilled some jam on your sleeve. His instinctive move to dab it away had provoked an instantaneous reaction from Perros, who leapt to his feet, his voice laced with protective fervor as he reprimanded you both for the supposedly improper contact. The moment had ended with you and Aemond awkwardly distancing yourselves, while Perros took up a stern post at your table on the small balcony, arms crossed in silent disapproval. Aemond had sported a look of utter vexation, his face tinged with a hint of pink, huffing, while you couldn't help but shoot a glare at Perros for his overzealous protectiveness.
You led Aemond to the quaint table on the balcony, its surface crowded with an assortment of dishes. Your taste buds, having grown accustomed to the vibrant spices and flavors of Dorne, found the typical Westerosi cuisine rather uninspiring. Consequently, you had developed a preference for simpler fare – delicate cakes accompanied by soft Vale cheese and a sweet red-berry jam from the Reach, as you could not stomach anything else. If you were to live here, you would need to have a cook brought from Sunspear, you thought.
As you both settled into your seats, a serene quietude enveloped the balcony. The early morning light cast a soft glow on Aemond, accentuating his regal features and rendering him even more striking than usual. You caught yourself momentarily captivated by his appearance and quickly composed yourself. It wouldn't do to let on just how much your betrothed affected you.
"I trust you had a restful night, Prince Aemond?" you inquired softly, putting some berries on your plate.
"Fairly restful," Aemond replied, spreading cheese over a slice of bread. "However, I was somewhat vexed last night. I had intended to read 'The History of Dragon Anatomy' from the library, only to find it had already been taken out. The Maester there mentioned a young lady had taken it just after dinner. Curious, since I had expressed my interest in that very book earlier in the day, to that same lady."
You glanced at him coyly. "How frustrating for you. Perhaps this lady simply wished to delve into subjects that intrigue you, my prince."
Aemond let out a thoughtful hum, carefully layering jam on another slice of bread before placing it on your plate. "And..." he prompted.
"And what, my prince?" you asked, feigning innocence.
"Did you find the book to your liking?" Aemond's tone was casual, but his eye held a playful glint as he took a bite of his cheesy bread.
Your gaze lingered on Aemond as he swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing quite attractively. The sight inexplicably left your own throat feeling parched.
"The book was quite fascinating," you commented, "Particularly the chapter on dragon scales and their resistance to various metals. In Dorne, we don't have many resources on dragons, so it was a nice change of literature."
Aemond let out a soft scoff. "I imagine not. It would not be wise to provide our enemies with knowledge about how to defeat our dragons. Some would probably say it would be insanity"
Your eyebrows drew together in a frown. "Enemies?"
Aemond paused, meeting your gaze with a hint of uncertainty. "Old enemies, perhaps. You must understand the strategic folly in sharing dragon lore with those who have historically sought to bring them down. Our betrothal itself hinges on the long-standing enmity between Dorne and Targaryen’s dragons."
You bristled at his words. "Perhaps if dragons were not made to attack and lay claim to our lands, the sentiment towards them in Dorne would be different!"
Aemond's eye narrowed, a defensive edge creeping into his voice. "House Targaryen united Westeros by right of conquest. We are neither thieves nor invaders."
"Right of conquest?" you echoed incredulously. "Dorne was never conquered. Your ancestors never succeeded in bringing Dorne under their rule!"
Breakfast now lay neglected as you both locked gazes, each unwilling to yield, to be the first to lower the proverbial banner.
Aemond broke the silence with a measured tone, "Well, here you are now, in King's Landing. So, perhaps the past should remain just that."
Your response was edged with a hint of bitterness. "There's no need to remind me of my place here, Prince Aemond. Your views on my people, and by extension on me, seem quite clear. It must be such a burden to align your esteemed dragon lineage with mine.”
Aemond's eye flickered slightly, a shadow of discomfort crossing his face. "You exaggerate, my lady. I did not imply any such thing."
"Of course, my apologies," you replied, the sharpness in your voice unmistakable. Gathering his plate, you stacked it atop yours, a clear signal of the meal's end. "I trust your breakfast was satisfactory, Prince Aemond. However, I need to prepare for the day. I promised your sister I would meet with her."
Aemond seemed momentarily taken aback, his composed facade faltering. "But we've only just begun, and you've yet to enjoy your favorite jam. Why leave so abruptly?"
"I wouldn't want to impose any longer," you said, your tone firm yet polite. "It might be best for you to leave now Prince Aemond."
A thick silence enveloped the room, heavy with unvoiced sentiments. Prince Aemond, his jaw set in a firm line, rose abruptly from his seat. His movements were rigid, each step resonating with barely restrained anger as he made his way to the door. Upon reaching the threshold, he paused, turning to face you with a stiff, formal inclination of his head. "My lady," he uttered, his voice a strained whisper of formality. Then, with a swift motion, he opened the door and exited, the slam echoing with a finality that reverberated through the room. The resounding closure seemed loud enough to stir the entire wing, making you flinch.
Seated alone at the table, you gazed out towards the horizon, where the sun had begun to cast a golden glow over the morning sky. A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you leaned forward, resting your head on your crossed arms atop the table. A soft groan of frustration echoed the turmoil within.
Had you overreacted? Aemond's words about Dorne's historical enmity with the Targaryens weren't unfounded, but his tone, dismissive and tinged with superiority, had struck a nerve. Your Dornish pride, a deep-rooted part of your identity, felt belittled in his presence. It was as if he had trampled upon the history and struggles of your people, reducing them to mere irritants in the grand Targaryen narrative.
Perhaps your reaction had been too impulsive, or maybe your expectations of Aemond were too lofty. The romantic notions you’d harbored, fueled by the tales and books you’d devored in Starfall, seemed naive now in the harsh light of the morning. Yet, Aemond’s daily visits, those moments that had started to become a cherished routine, suggested that maybe there was something more. Had you misconstrued his intentions, read too much into what was merely a princely obligation? The very thought of it twisted in your chest. You were confused and could feel a strange feeling of longing coiling deep within your stomach.
"My lady?" The concern in Perros's voice pulled you from your introspective reverie.
"Mmm?" you hummed, your voice muffled against your arms, still not lifting your head.
"Are you well, my lady?" He inquired gently, worry edging in his tone.
"You must be feeling vindicated," you said, lifting your head to meet Perros's gaze, your laughter tinged with a hint of bitterness. "It seems Prince Aemond has made his views about me quite clear."
Perros regarded you with a steady, thoughtful look. "I've never been fond of him, true. He's too princely, too arrogant. He's not worthy of you," he admitted, and you couldn't help but let out a small, teary chuckle.
"I guess now is the perfect time for your 'I told you so,'" you remarked wryly.
"But," Perros cut in, his tone shifting, "I can't ignore how he looks at you. From the very first day we arrived, he's been drawn to you like a moth to a flame. It's like you're the Maiden reborn in his eyes. And..” Perros took a breath for effect, "I suppose I might have judge the prince too harshly too... I was not to tell you, but Prince Aemond has been joining Davos and me during our training sessions in the yard.”
"He has?" You exclaimed, turning to face Perros - The image of Aemond, a prince of the realm, spending his time with little davos was a stark contrast to the man you had argued with only moments ago.
"Yes," Perros nodded. "He's been taking time to teach Davos the basics of swordplay. You should see the boy's face light up. The prince has a way with him, showing patience I didn't think possible. It's as if he sees something of himself in Davos. The lad's been boasting about it to anyone who'll listen, his chest puffed up with pride. Keep saying it’ll go to his head, but the lad is excited, the prince even said he’d show him that great beast of his. "
A thoughtful frown creased your forehead. "But why keep it a secret? Why didn't Aemond mention it? Why didn't Davos?"
Perros shrugged slightly, a faint smile touching his lips. "I suspect the prince isn't doing it for praise or recognition. Maybe he just wanted to help, to do something good without any fanfare. It's not something I expected from him, but with all my years, I’ve learned that people, even princes, can stil surprise us."
As you pondered his words, Perros placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder, his touch grounding. "Speak with him, my lady," Perros advised gently, his voice carrying a wisdom born of years. "Whether he's a princely dragon or not, it's always better to clear the air, especially with matters of the heart.”
You offered a small, contemplative smile. "Perhaps you're right, Perros. I might just do that."
Just then, a series of knocks echoed at the door, you released a weary sigh, wondering aloud, "Do you think that the noise might have woken up mother?"
Perros straightened, ready to take action. "Shall I see who it is, my lady?"
"No, no, it's alright," you quickly responded, waving a hand dismissively. "It's probably mother, or Gerris and Davos. They have this habit of barging into my room to start their day. They find it amusing, I suppose."
But as you opened the door, it was neither your mother, nor Gerris, nor Davos – Standing before you was Aemond. His usually neatly styled hair was slightly disheveled, as if he had been anxiously running his fingers through it, and his solitary eye, usually so sharp and focused, now held a wild, almost frantic quality as he gazed at you
Finally breaking the silence, you found your voice ; “Prince Aemond?”
You were momentarily caught off guard as Aemond pulled you into his arms, his embrace firm yet cautious, tentative as though he was handling something precious and fragile. His body, usually so rigid and imposing, now enveloped you with a breath-stealing, protective warmth, contrasting sharply with the slightness of your own form.
His face buried in your hair, Aemond seemed to be seeking a sort of solace, his breath slow and deep. You could feel the slight quiver in his chest and for a moment, you stood there, unsure, your body rigid in his embrace. But as he inhaled, as if drawing strength from your presence, you felt a surge of want wash over you.
Tentatively, your arms wound around his back, your touch light, almost hesitant. The contours of his body under your fingers felt like the unyielding walls of a fortress, yet there was a tenderness in his hold that belied his outward appearance. The sensation of his breath warming the nape of your neck sent a shiver down your spine, and his voice, thick with emotion, resonated against your soft skin. "I am sorry for my words, my lady. They were careless and unkind," he murmured, his tone laced with a rare vulnerability. "Please, I am sorry. I ask for your forgiveness, but more than that, I beg you, do not shut me out. Not when I feel like I have only begun to know you."
His grip tightened ever so slightly, as if fearing you might slip away, his voice a soft whisper against your hair. "You have every right to turn away from me, yet I find myself selfishly hoping you will not. In you, I've seen a kindness, a strength that I have longed for. Please, my lady, grant me the chance to prove that I am more than my harsh words and hasty judgments."
Nestling closer into his hold, you felt a wave of understanding wash over you. "Perhaps I, too, was quick to judge," you admitted softly. "Your words, though harsh, weren't entirely unfounded. Our kingdoms have been locked in conflict for so long, and both have suffered greatly. It's just that..." You paused, taking a deep breath, grappling with the words that lay heavy on your heart. "I understand the reasons for our union – duty, family, the realm, the crown. But still..." Your voice trailed off, laden with unspoken hopes and fears.
Aemond gently lifted his head from yours, their foreheads meeting in a tender, earnest touch. For the first time since your encounter, you were close, close enough to see the subtle hues in his remaining eye, close enough to feel the warmth of his breath mingling with yours. "I too wish for more, my lady, more than you could possibly imagine," he confessed, his voice a soft echo of your own longing.
A timid smile touched your lips, a flicker of the young woman who once dreamt under the stars, the girl who laughed freely. "Back in Starfall, they used to say I was like a ghost. After Gerris was announced as the future lord, I lost a part of myself. I never thought I'd find that girl again – the one who could marvel at the stars, who loved to read and laugh without care." Your smile grew, a hint of old joy resurfacing. "But with you, Aemond... when I'm with you, I feel as if... as if I'm finding her again."
Aemond's smile, a rare and genuine thing, mirrored your own. "And I," he confessed, "feel something I feared was long lost in me too."
Perros's conspicuous throat-clearing echoed in the room, startling both of you into stepping apart, faces flushed with the sudden intensity of the moment. You shot Perros a glare, one that he met with a raised eyebrow and a look that managed to be both unimpressed and protective.
Aemond, regaining his composure with a soft cough, glanced toward the door. "I must take my leave, my lady. Ser Criston awaits me in the training yard, and I dare not keep my sister from you company as she probably awaits you for her early morning beetle hunt," he said.
Your smile returned, a gentle curve of lips that hinted at the warmth you felt inside. "Of course, my prince. Dawn tomorrow then?"
Aemond hesitated, an unusual shyness in his demeanor as he paused at the door. "Actually, I was wondering if I might join you in the afternoon? You spend time with your brother and Davos then, right?"
"Oh, you needn't trouble yourself. Heleana usually takes the twins along, and we all enjoy the gardens together," you explained.
He hummed thoughtfully. "Nevertheless, I would like to be there. To spend time with those you care about."
A genuine smile graced your face. "Then after midday it is."
As Aemond began to exit, he paused once more, turning slightly toward you. "And perhaps after dinner, I could meet you in the library? I could show you more books about dragons. I read them all as a child."
Your smile deepened, warmth spreading through you at the thought. "I would be delighted to receive literary recommendations from the realm's most renowned dragon rider."
Aemond's response was a shy smile, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. He nodded silently, a gesture that spoke volumes of his growing affection, before finally stepping out of the room.
Left in the quiet room, you felt an unfamiliar sensation, a fluttering lightness in your chest, like a bird cautiously testing its wings after a long confinemen. With a dreamy smile lingered on your lips, you turned to face Perros, who stood near the small table, you caught the hint of a teasing smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. His eyes held a mix of amusement and something softer that you had trouble deciphering, perhaps a reluctant acceptance of the scene he had just witnessed.
With a mock groan, you raised your hand, preempting any comments he might have. "Do not say anything, Perros."
His smile broadened, but he raised his hands in mock surrender. "I wouldn't dream of it, my lady," he replied teasingly.
Shaking your head with a mix of exasperation and fondness, you moved past Perros towards the door. "I have a busy day ahead," you remarked, "And it seems I now have plans for after dinner as well."

୨୧ On Purpose Karma x (fem) Reader || Chapter: 04 ୨୧
Prev || 04 Oblivious || Next
— Since the entire student council was present and the library was notably crowded with students who had signed up for the lecture, [Name] entered the library on her own.
She felt guilty, having to ditch her plans with Karma after an unresolved argument they decided to brush over. To make matters worse, she has to sit through a two-hour session and watch Ren shamelessly flirt with every girl in the room. On the brighter side, this ordeal counted towards her volunteer hours.
"You're late. You missed my introductory speech."
"My fault, I'll make up for it by working extra hard!"
She mentally thanked Karma for convincing her take the longer route, saying, "It's not a big deal if you're 10 minutes late... or 30." It was impressive how Gakushuu's speeches managed to put her to sleep every time, missing it was a win in her book.
Koyama called him over, something about a broken printer and an angry librarian.
...aaand she was all alone again.  [Name] decided to go check on the group at the back table.
"Oh, [Name] made it—she can help us!" The first year, Chisa blissfully smiled.
"But I wanted Asano to help. [Name] could you please ask him to?" Chisa's friend insisted, clearly not as enthusiastic about the anyone-whose-not- Asano's arrival.
[Name] tried not to let it bother her, being the only girl in the student council came with a lot of pressure.
She’s just as helpful and capable as the rest of the group but no one seems to acknowledge it. Everyone calls them the “Big Five” even though there’s technically six of them as her scores tie with Seo.
"He's busy with Koyama, but maybe later."
The girl groaned and sulked laying her head on the table. Chisa looked apologetic for her friends dramatics. [Name] offered them a polite smile and said, "Let's get through your assignments then."
After half an hour of helping the girls turn in missing work, [Name] decided to take a short break. She left for an empty table in the very corner of the room, the short break turned into a long one when she got distracted texting Karma.
‧₊˚ Message Log ‧₊˚
[Name]: can we talk? im super bored!!
Karma: Whose fault is that?
Karma: should have ditched to be with me the whooleee day
[Name]: ugghhh don't. Can you believe I still have another hour of this
[Name]: anyway what are you doing?
Karma: I bumped into Nagisa on my way back from the library
Karma: now were at Maehara's house with Rio and Fuwa.
[Name]: Rio?? That one beautiful, smart, sweet, blonde girl in your class?
Karma: Sounds like you like her alot.
[Name]: She makes me nervous
Karma: Hey that's how you used to talk about me before we went out
[Name]: I can hear the disappointment through the text lmaoo
‧₊˚ Message End ‧₊˚
"You haven't even been here for an hour and you’re already slacking off on your phone?"
"Gakushuu! Geez you came out of nowhere." [Name] shut her phone off and patted the seat next to her.
To her surprise he slumped down next to her instead of insulting her and walking off, like he usually does.
"Are you feeling alright?"
"I'm exhausted to say the least. This was a stupid idea no one is making progress, well no one but Ren, he managed to pick up quite a few desperate ones today."
"That's not completely true, I helped Chisa and her friend turn their C's to A's. As much as I hate being here it's not useless. Useless was the Bakesale we tried last year where the cupcakes we sold tasted like horse crap. It was funny watching people pretend to love them and hold back the throw up because they came from you."
"Could of stopped at the first half, but thanks, I think. My father said I wasn't being organized enough, that this would be a failure on my half and an embarrassment on his."
"That's a little harsh, you're doing your best and you've done more than anyone else in the council. Ren's been giving out his number more than he's been lecturing, Seo has been in the bathroom for 20 minutes, Teppei has been stuck on the same group this entire time and to be honest Koyama is hard to look at. Im pretty sure I saw the girl he was teaching closing her eyes while he was talking."
The corners of his mouth twitched upwards.
"You're right I'll go yell at them in a few. It's not a big deal though, My father has said much worse."
"To be fair, I haven't exactly kept my promise either. Hard work turned into hiding in a corner to text my b- actually I should get back to work, actions speak louder than words!" [Name] stood up to leave. Asano grabbed her sleeve, it was impulsive and the immediateness of it made it all the more awkward."
"Uh, Asano? Is there something you still need?" She crinkled her eyebrows.
His cheeks became somewhat pink, [Name] thought he couldn’t have been blushing, maybe it was allergies.
“No, just don't get distracted on your phone again."
"Yeah Ive got it!" She waved him off and went back to work,
Gakushuu sat there slightly conflicted with his thoughts and his feelings, He faulted the all nighter he pulled last night, sleep deprivation does negatively impact mind clarity. He decided he should get back to work too.
Meanwhile ☆ ༄
"Let me get this straight, instead of asking me like normal people the class collectively decided to stalk [Name] and I?"
"Pretty much... but I was against it the entire time!" Nagisa replied sheepishly, to his surprise Karma's response was a relaxed nod.
"You're acting weirdly cool about this."
It sent a shiver down his spine, in a weird way Karma was scarier when he didn't react. Not knowing what he's thinking was an uncomfortable feeling.
"It's not a big deal- unless you guys tell people, that's when things will leak."
Fuwa's voice highers a few octaves in concern "What things?!"
"Telling you would ruin the surprise wouldn’t it?”
Maehara, reckless as always chimes in “I wanted to go and see [Name] but I couldn't. We were almost a thing before you stole her ya know?"
Nagisa, being the good friend he is, rushes in to save him "That's not it at all! Isogai told us she rejected him a bunch of times since he's a womanizer!"
"I'm not a womanizer, I'm smooth."
"Smooth is the surface of the floor you'll be on when I knock your sorry ass out."
Maehara quickly moves behind Rio who changes the subject with a flood of questions;
"How long have you been dating? Why would anyone go out with you? Did you scare her into saying yes?"
"I’ll tell you if you buy me soba. Better question is: Why wouldn't someone go out with me? I’m tall, handsome, smart, charismatic… and I have a sick spice collection.”
“Im also all of those things.” Maehara jokes, cautiously this time, using Rio as a human shield.

“you’re drunk,” you whisper. jeongin remains silent, his long fingers slipping beneath the hem of your dress. “hey,” you hiss.
“im not that drunk,” he mutters—breath fanning your bare shoulder. “please,” his fingers drag against the skin of your thigh as he withdraws his hand from the shelter provided by the skirt of your dress.
“head towards the bathroom, i’ll be there in a minute.” he grunts and pulls himself from his spot next to you on the couch, casting you a glance over his shoulder.
you watch as he disappears behind a corner, casting another glance in your direction.
you wait a few minutes before pushing yourself off the couch, the group sat around you stares up at you with knowing eyes—little to your knowing, as you are too busy maneuvering yourself through their extended legs.
“where are you going?” minho smirks.
“ive gotta go to the bathroom,” you chuckle—rather awkwardly.
you mutter hellos and half-greet guest as you slip your way through the small crowd.
“jeongin?” you mutter. “jeongin?” your heels click softly against the floor as you venture a bit farther into the slim hall the bathrooms were located within. you reach the other end of the hall and release a sigh, the railing that circles around the ship catching your palms as you press your weight into it. the salty water sloshes beneath the boat as you tilt your head down, watching the soft waves tickle the side of the ship.
“took you long enough,” jeongin’s voice reaches your ears—and a second later you’re palms are pressed to his chest while his rest comfortably on your waist. “I thought you were standing me up,” he whispers against your lips.
“funny, I thought the same.”
“i’d never stand you up,” he confesses.
“never?”
he sighs shakily. “i’ve been dreaming of this for too long,” his forehead presses to yours, strands of his hair tickling your eyelids.
“what do we do? in these dreams of yours,” you hum, hands trailing down his chest, fingers slipping beneath the hem of his shirt—just as he had done with your dress moments earlier.
“kiss,” he blushes.
“that’s it,” you grin, gliding your fingers over his covered stomach, tracing his abs softly.
“even in my dreams I want to respect your boundaries,” you giggle and squeeze your eyes shut—and jeongin feels himself falling harder, and the butterflies in his stomach multiply by tenfolds. “is me respecting you funny?”
you smile softly and shake your head. “what’s funny is that you aren’t kissing me yet.”
“i’m aloud?”
“are you always like this? bold in public, shy when you’re alone with a girl.”
“i’m only shy when i’m alone with you.”
you sigh softly, bringing your hands from beneath his shirt and cup his cheeks. “i’ve only had one glass of champagne and i’m starting to lose that buzz, so you should kiss me before I come to my senses, or before my dad finds us—i’m not sure which one would be worse.” he nods, eyes flickering from your eyes to your lips and then back up again. you sigh, again, and tug him forward—bringing your lips to his.
he’s slow and gentle, his hands on your waist are stiff and unmoving.
“I thought you said you dreamed of this?”
“I did. I do.”
“then act like it, jeongin. kiss me like in your dreams.”
“i’m aloud?” his eyebrows shoot upwards, almost as if he was surprised.
“stop asking that,” press your lips to his again, and this time he’s a bit more rough.
he roams his hands up your back, pressing you into him, and when you bring your arms to wrap around his neck and plant a hand in his hair—tugging softly—he lets out a groan. the sound vibrating against your mouth.
minutes later and the two of you have stumbled farther down the deck, mindlessly headed towards the opening in the rail—where the latter into the water sits.
the two of you part to catch your breath, and for once it last more than just a second. jeongin huffs and tucks his face into the crook of your neck, his chest moves up and down against your own.
“jeongin,” you sigh as his mouth works against the sensitive skin beneath your jaw. “is this apart of your dreams too?” he nips at the skin, causing you to yelp and land a slap to the side of his head. making him chuckle. “I see you’ve gained your boldness again.” he sighs and withdraws his head, bringing himself to look you in the eyes.
“do you have any dreams?” he asks. you cock your head to the side, a small smile playing at your lips.
“would you be up for it?” your hands find the hem of his shirt, tugging it upwards. he allows you, he even helps you remove it from over his head, tossing it somewhere behind him.
“i’m up for anything you-” jeongin’s words are cut as the two of you get jostled by a sudden rock in the boat, the both of you stumble and you cry out as you lose your footing. your fingers dig into his shoulders as you begin to fall through the opening in the railing, where the latter had been placed. jeongin’s hands squeeze your waist as the two of you fall the short distance into the water.
with the music and the constant chatter, the splash of your fall falls on deaf ears.
the two of you rise to the surface, jeongin biting at his bottom lip. sure, he wanted to get alone with you, and he definitely wanted to make moves—but trying to drowned you was never ever the intention. you’re silent for a moment, and jeongin waits for your burst of anger.
but when a loud laugh erupts from you, he can’t hold back his own.
“i’m definitely completely sober now,” you giggle as your hands slash through the cool water surrounding you.
“i’m sorry,” he sighs. you shoot him a confused frown.
“why?” your body seems to glide closer to his own, your hands finding his shoulders. “this is the most fun i’ve had all night,” his eyelids flutter as your hands cup his cheeks, thumbs soothing over his cheekbones. “would it be okay if I kissed you?”
“but youre sober, awhile ago you told me to kiss you before-”
“is that a no?” your hands drop from his face, splashing softly in the water. his fingers circle your wrists, bring your palms back to his cheeks.
“I never said that,” you hum as you shift closer, your nose tapping against his.
“you’re my first sober kiss.”
you don’t let him question, bringing your lips to his too quickly. they slide awkwardly against each other, the wetness from the water still coating each of your lips.

Semi-smut ig

“Chris, can I borrow some clothes?” I asked as we all stood up walking our plates to the sink. “Of course, lets go '' He grabs my hand leading me up the stairs, thanking god I can just ignore Matt for right now while I deal with my own emotions about this situation. “Here” Chris throws me a pair of boxers with literal hot dogs on them and a plain white T-shirt. “Get out” I say shoo’ing him out of the room “Aw, I cant stay and watch” I closed the door in his face watching him pout. I change into the clothes leaving mine in a folded pile on his dresser. “ARE YOU DONE?” He yells outside the door, I walk over to open the door and he looks at me with wide eyes ``Do NOT walk out of this room” He closed the door behind him and I looked at him confused as he turned me towards the mirror. The shirt was so unbelievably see-through and I hadn't thought about leaving my bra on. “OH  MY GOD, give me a sweatshirt NOW” I yelled at Chris. He laughs again “Come on it'll just be me you and Matt you’ll be fine” I internally rolled my eyes at the fact Matt was gonna be trying to get into my pants (most likely succeeding) Chris lays on his bed and I follow laying next to him, Matt walks into the room only ten minutes later.
“Woah, showing off a lot tonight Pickle” He says casually walking over to the other dresser grabbing a pair of shorts and changing. Right there, in front of me. I took the bait staring at him and Matt looked up smirking at me. He wore just a pair of black shorts hanging dangerously low. “Come on, you can sleep in the other bedroom” Matt says opening the door “Goodnight Christopher” I say leaning over kissing his cheek “Night boobie woman” Matt broke out into laughter as I smacked Chris’ chest. Matt leads me out of the room towards another room “Can I have a phone changer” I ask knowing I was going to be on my phone most the night since I was spending it alone “Yeah, go in here I'll be right back” Matt opens a door that leads to a spare bedroom, I walk in laying on the bed waiting for Matt to come back, when he did he walked in closing the door behind him.
“Don't worry, I'm sleeping in here with you tonight” I roll my eyes looking at him “Did you sleep in here with Maddy too?” He scoffs, throwing his hand over his heart “You treat me like a common whore!” He pretends to be hurt. “Matt, I'm serious. Im not gonna do this with you if your fucking other girls. I know you made out with her.” He slides over me on the bed placing a kiss on my forehead “It was a mistake, I'm only doing this with you” He places a kiss on my cheek lying next to me “So what, we are just friends with benefits right?” I ask turning to face him “Yes, lots of benefits” I giggle as he starts to tickle my sides.  “Okay Matt, time for bed. No benefits tonight buddy we have school. Oh yeah, can I borrow a sweatshirt tomorrow?” I ask as I roll onto him laying my head into his chest “Of course, you can borrow anything of mine Princess.” I roll my eyes. “That's more than friendly Matthew, Go to bed.” He places a gentle kiss on my forehead before we both close our eyes going to sleep.
The next morning I wake up to my alarms, Matt waking up with me. He immediately places a kiss on my forehead. “Good morning Princess, do you need to shower?” I shake my head no getting out of the bed “Do you have a tooth brush, and a closet?” I smiled at him as he rolls out of bed, I could have practically passed out right then and there. He had bed head, his stumble more prominent, his shorts so low threatening to show his member, which was half way hard. I was basically drooling. “Wanna have some benefits before school?” He asked, placing his body against mine, slipping his hand behind me onto my ass “You make it so hard to say no” As soon as I finished my sentence his lips were connected to mine in a passionate make out. He pulled me back sitting on the bed as I startled him, after about three minutes of just passionately making out I push myself up off of him “Come on Matt, we have school” I say turning around “Your just gonna leave me like this” He says, I turn facing him, hes leaned back showing me his boner in full force “Lets gooooo” I say grabbing his hand pulling him off the bed.
Matt gave me a white sweater and I put my leggings back on from the day before with my uggs, I took my hair down letting the braids leave it curly throwing in two small braids in the front to keep it out of my face, “Good morning pickle” Nick says as I walk into the bathroom to brush my teeth, I place my head on his shoulder as we stood there in silence brushing our teeth.
I walked out of the bathroom to see Matt standing at the kitchen table in a yellow and black striped polo shirt that had a collar on it and some blue jeans. I don't know why Matthew has looked so much more attractive the past couple of weeks. “Ready?” Matt asked standing up straight with Chris behind him, I nod yes looking up at him.
Once we get to school I told the boys to go in since I wanted to wait for the bell to ring to not see Haylee. I grabbed Matt's keys locking the door while walking into the front office to check in since I decided to wait a couple extra minutes.
Matthew-
You good Princess?
y/n-
Matt FRIENDS dont call each other endearing names. Yes I am fine, thank you.
Matthew-
FRIENDS dont make eachother cum either.
I rolled my eyes shoving my bag into my locker grabbing my books for the first couple of periods remembering my dad should be home in the next hour. I pulled my phone out to text him.
y/n-
Hey dad, I slept at the boys last night. Could you bring me something for lunch around 11:30?
Father-
Of course.  Honey.
Ah, my father, the man who cannot figure out the space bar on his iphone correctly. I giggle looking at his text simply hurting it before slipping in an airpod. I wasn't really in the mood to have anyone talk to me today, I queued up a few songs after Les by Childish Gambino came on and tapped my fingers along with my book as I walked into math taking my seat and starting on my work.
I walked into ELA as my teacher called my over, I slipped out my airpod and she patted the seat next to her “How are you doing y/n” She asked with her smile, she was a very sweet teacher she had me as a student the past three years and she made me feel warm in her presence “I'm good, How are you this year?” I asked smiling back at her “I've been good, I have noticed you are doing well but have not asked to go to Ms. Scaponis office?” She questioned, the recent years I would spend days in her office because I couldn't stop crying from the aggressive texts my mother would send me throughout the day “I haven't been to my moms, I have been feeling okay but I guess I should go down and talk to  her about the other things going on” I say looking down at my hands that were holding my airpods “Lucky for you, we are just watching a TED talk today, why don't you go spend the periods up till lunch with her” I nodded grabbing my stuff, I knew Ms. Scaponi put her up to this because i haven't been into her office even for a fun visit to take some goldfish.
“Good morning” I say walking into the familiar room “My girl, where have you been?” She asked as I took a seat in the chair across from her “I haven't been to my moms, I haven't had a lot going on besides ghosting Haylee yesterday” She nodded, not questioning it because I had told her the questionable things Haylee has pulled. “Okay, how about the Sturniolo boys, I see you're spending a lot of time with them” I smiled, ready to tell her everything that had been happening.
After about an hour of talking there was a knock on the door “Come in!” Ms. Scaponi says as I sit up correctly “DAD!” I yelled jumping up to hug my best friend “Hey honey, I didn't know what you wanted” he said handing me a bag of mcdonalds “I got the boys some food too, seeing as I figured they didn't bring food either” I hugged him again thanking him just as the bell rang signaling it was time for lunch “Mr. y/l/n , could you stay for a minute?” Ms. Scaponi asked my dad as I gave her a questioning look and my father nodded before shoo’ing me off to lunch.
“Say you love my father” I say standing behind the boys holding up the bag as they were all at their lockers “i LOVE your dad” Chris says grabbing the food from my hand grabbing a fry immediately placing it in his mouth. “WE love your dad” Matt and Nick say as they shovel through the bag “Jesus, can we get to the cafeteria first” I say ripping the bag from their hands. They followed in suit behind me as I walked towards the cafe looking through the bag. We ate our lunch laughing and talking. I haven't decided if I was going to stay for the whole day or not but today seemed to be going fine so I figured I should.
After working on my project with Matt and going to gym class, it was time for our combined period with Chris “Thank god, I hate only having one class with you” Chris said sitting on my desk facing me after the teacher had given us permission to do whatever, I pulled my airpod out of my ear “I know, your life sucks without me” I looked up smiling at him “Hey, our last game is friday. You're gonna finally come to one?” Matt asked, sitting on Chris' seat “I guess I'll come, it's your senior game right?” they both nodded “Do I need to get you a present or something?” I asked, I didn't have a senior game seeing as I quit my high school team last year. I would at least get a senior game for softball. “No, but we wouldn't object if you did!” Chris said “I know what you can get me” Matt said and my cheeks immediately turned a light shade of pink “Ew dude” Chris said scoffing back at Matt “Get me the same” He winked “I actually cannot handle you two your disgusting” We finished the rest of the period laughing and joking with each other and it was finally the end of the day
“Hey, meet us at the car!” Matt yelled as they were walking towards their lockers. I grabbed my bag and shoved whatever homework I had from the day into it. I looked up seeing Haylee giving me a nasty look from down the hallway, I hadn't even read her messages from the night before, I was just going to let Nick read them and tell me if it was worth my time in the car. I turned around walking out of the school doors.
“So who's going with me to get my nails done!” I asked hoping in the backseat of the car after noticing how overgrown and gross my acrylics looked. “All of us” Nick said smiling back at me “Perfect, can we stop my dads for money and for me to change? I'll make the appointment.”
Matt nodded backing out of his parking spot as I called my favorite nail spot making for appointments, We made it back to my dads house all dropping our bags by the front door “Dad, can I have money please look at my rank ass nails” I said shoving my overgrown and basically deformed french tipped nails “Of course, what're you gonna get?” he asked, pulling out his wallet “I don't even know yet, good question.” He handed me two one hundred dollar bills, knowing my nails were at most fifty dollars. “I'm gonna go change, dad hang out with the boys” I say as they all sit on the couch with him and I run up the stairs. I changed into a pair of my UMASS sweatpants in case I decided I wanted to get my toes done, and one of my sweatshirts from my soccer season. I threw my hair into a  messy bun grabbing my wallet, throwing the money my dad gave to me into it and running back down the stairs.
“Okay im ready, I’ll be back after. I might make them stop at target first though” I say sitting next to my dad to see what he was doing on his laptop. “Alright, have fun honey. Let me know what you want for dinner” I hugged my dad, grabbing my car keys looking at the boys “Matt drives my car, I need to find which nails I am going to get!” I say handing my keys to them “Okay princess” Matt says taking them from my hand smirking down at me, I roll my eyes since my father was right there as we all walked out to door to go get our nails done.

Morwen and Aerin scene from a longer fic (can be read without the rest though)
cw: implied/background abuse and captivity and the headspace that comes with that
Reposting with edits because im almost finished with the next part!
Follow up to this
Also thank you to @melestasflight for your kind words on my first draft
“You should keep these for yourself,” Aerin says quietly but she does not protest as Morwen finishes crushing the leaves and adds them to the steaming cup.
“I have no need of them now and these grow unrestrained in my garden,” Morwen says, “You are in pain. You do not hide it well.”
This is not strictly true. Aerin has been concealing this pain for days now and is well accustomed to hiding others. She has been using her arm normally, despite how it exacerbated the wrenching of the joint. But it seemed that when she crossed this threshold, her ability to hide her suffering left her. She pulls her shawl more tightly around her. She has not worn clothes that truly feel her own in well nigh a year. She has not felt her own for that time either.
The steam coaxes forward her tears with more urgency. The scent of it coated her nose and mouth. It was too hot to hold but she reached for the mug anyways, feeling the roughly formed clay of the Nen Lalaith beneath her burning fingers. Morwen watches her for a moment, then lays one hand atop of hers, just briefly, and she sets it back down again.
“I am sorry.”
“For what do you apologize?”
It is an exchange they have had more than once before. In her cruelest hours, Aerin could not say if the voice of Morwen held patience or indifference. Suddenly, she makes a movement between a shrug and a shoulder. Her shaking does not abate after and once more those words find her.
This will never end, not until I do.
She has thought this again and again since that day she was first brought before him but it is the closest she has yet come to saying them.
She does not, though the words are half formed. Nor does she think Morwen will have any answer. There is no answer that is both honest and kind. Aerin knows she has come closer to death lately than she has ever done before, close enough that she tries with an almost desperation not to consider that end, and which she dreads more.
She blinks away more tears. She cannot weep for this or she would not stop.
“I will stay up, if you want a few minutes. I could not sleep myself.”
Morwen looks exhausted truly but Aerin does not doubt her words. She does not want to accept but her own tiredness is weighing on her and she knows she will not have long before she has to return and when she does, she will have no sleep.
Aerin takes one of her hands and links her fingers through Morwen’s, looking at her for permission to remain like this. Morwen gives her a swift nod that almost makes her smile even if it does not.
Perhaps she does sleep. She does not dream but her world blurs in a way that lessens the sharpness of her pain and coats her sadness in something hazy, if only briefly.
She stands again before she is truly awake, the blanket that is not hers falling to the ground. She cannot speak as she walks to the door. If she does not restrain herself before she returns she will pay for it dearly. She wants to think it would be worth it. She does not know.
(Morwen watches Aerin leave, pulling the frayed edges of her shawl more tightly around her. It had not been made for warmth but anything that she might use to cover herself was welcome.)
Note: the flow is definitely a bit rushed, this is party of chapter five of with slander for a blade and it’s a bit out of the style of the previous chapters, it’s almost an interlude. Anyways it definitely needs some work still. There are a few paragraphs at the beginning I didn’t end up including because they needed more work
Second Author’s note: I have a post here that goes a bit into Aerin’s first meeting Brodda and I’m writing it in fic form but it’s been taking awhile
Third:: I hope this is ok, I’ve been feeling so bad about my content lately and unfortunately it’s made me an even worse empirical judge of it

Okok, so my brain is not working with writing rn BUT i will finish that “reader and time pinning” thing that i was doing I PROMISE
BUT for now imma just share some thoughts of Time because he is THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AND I NEED TO RANT ABOUT HIM
*ahem*
Ive said before (on my blog) that Time uses really old and kinda cringey petnames because 1, he genuinely loves them and 2, because he LOVES making the boys squirm in second hand embarrassment. SO, have a few more of those nicknames :D -> snookums, sugarplum, baby cakes, muffin, foxy, and toots
Young time (like teenage/young adult) was an absolute bastard BUT when he falls in love with someone, he is an absolute sweet heart! Think the ‘i hate everyone but you’ trope :3
Young! Time did not know romance AT ALL! That boy was raised by a tree and a bunch if spirit kids, he has know idea what a ‘date’ is. This leads to him just acting the same around his crush but being a little nicer to them
Is then very confused as to why they dont know that he likes them. “It was so obvious? I gave you a piece of my apple pie! I was so clear with my signs 🙄🙄”
He THEN reads all the romance novels he can get his hands on (legally and illegally) just so he can impress them! Completely misunderstood everything and now he just has to straight up tell them, cause how their hair is on fire…somehow
(Modern) Time is totally the type of guy that ‘doesn’t like drama shows’ but if his lover was watching one, he’d stand behind the couch and watch. But when his lover offers to move so he can sit hes like ‘no, im not even watching it. I was just bored’ and the proceeds to watch the next 3 episodes while standing.
(Modern) Time has a leather jacket that he LOVES!! Like he will cut someone for that thing, do not fuck with it. No one is aloud to wear it expect him….And his crush/lover but SHUSH!
Time enjoys polishing his armour/sword while you read a book out aloud. You both find it rather relaxing. Until something dramatic/a polt twists happens, all if the sudden the armour/sword is dropped to the side as Time is BAFFLED by this. “They killed Aaron?! Wh-what? Why!? He was the best choice for Max!” (Hes so invested, his duties are now discarded until you two finish this chapter)
I wanna do more but this is kinda chunky :3
I love dis man so much 🫶🫶
THE WAY I PHYSICALLY AND VERBALLY CRINGED AT FOXY??? bro's the type to say "hey foxy mama" when you walk into a room unironically, he literally has no shame whatsoever whenever someone points out how dated that sounds to
time would fit the secret admirer trope so well though? but he wouldn't even be secret about it?? the lon lon sisters def gave him the advice to "just be himself" and that gave him the idea to take stuff from his woodland-spirit background
"link, why is my house filled with flowers from floor to ceiling."
"that's not a declaration of adoration here? huh."
AND HIM TAKING THE ROMANCE BOOKS? personally, i feel like he's the type to sneak into the library when (supposedly) nobodies looking and just taking whatever he can carry before sneaking back out-- but in actuality it's just that nobody cares
someone asked zelda if he was allowed to take the books because they've been coming back in a damaged state (it's not bad, but while he's workshopping how he's gonna bring words to reality, he messes up a little) and she just says its fine so long as he isn't committing crimes with them (which he has done. several times. no one knows)
ofc there are questions as to WHY he's taking the romance books specifically, but the guards and librarians just chalk it up to him entering his weird boy phase ™️ and not because he has an interest in somebody because him?? having a love interest before half the other people in the castle??? Nah.
you catch modern! time watching a (raunchy) reality show once (like love island, or jersey shore-- maybe even teen mom) and he swears up, down, to the golden three, and to the sand goddess that he just kept it on for noise and that he's paying all his attention to his work even though you caught him ON VIDEO having the most expressive reactions to certain moments
BUT THE LEATHER JACKET ONE?? someone walks up to you while you're wearing it (your relationship with time isn't common knowledge yet) and they make a joke about him burying them alive if they mess it up-- no less just because you're wearing it.
time pops up out of literal thin air making excuses that you were cold (you were not), he was hot and didn't feel like carrying it (his goosebumps say otherwise), he thought there was a tear and he wanted to try and fix it (.. yeah, okay.), he only gave it to you because you said it would go with your outfit (that is not the only reason he'd give it to you), and everything else just to try to hide the fact that he's soft
(also, bonus points if you made it??? now not even the goddesses could touch it. he's about three seconds away from giving into the inner ferality of his childhood self and biting someone if they even look at it)
but tell me why i just imagine time getting ready to like, get in a fight or something, you read something so earth-shatteringly shocking in the book, and he's immediately like "the battle can wait. [opponent] was gonna lose anyways. we have to figure out what the devil is about to happen"
i'm literally scooping ur brain from ur skull, putting it on a table, and i'm gonna examine it for the rest of ur ideas mwah

Bucky didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing that you had stood in front of him that morning and told him you were going for a walk around town, alone, just like that. As a good husband who went through a catastrophic event that almost made him lose the love of his life, he wanted to object, almost that his instincts begged him on its knees because he didn't want to risk losing sight of you in a place with so many possible dangers. But it was true that Bucky couldn't deny you anything, and even if he had tried it would have remained just that, an attempt. He just made sure to remind you to call him if anything happened.
And Bucky really wanted to stay true to his word not to follow you… Bucky really tried to stay seated in front of the big TV in front of his bed in one of the rooms in the Complex, with nice warm weather, soda and food on the nightstand, with the most comfortable pillows he could have ever touched…
But after all he had been through, he was no longer willing to take any chances.
So he left, within minutes of your departure, on tiptoe as if he were in a silent movie. He was trying not to intrude too much, just to look over his shoulder at you to make sure you were safe. Bucky knew you were capable of taking care of yourself if a dangerous situation had to arise, but he felt unable to just stay in the Complex waiting for you to arrive. It was what he had to do, but it wasn't what he wanted to do. And surely if you found out you would be angry, and Bucky would apologize for it, but he wouldn't regret it. He didn't like to think he would become that kind of person, but after the accident and spending over a year watching over you and making sure your surroundings were safe, it was hard to let go of that sense of security and give way to the uncertainty of the unknown.
He glanced at the time on his watch as you entered a sparsely populated coffee shop. It was already past five o'clock. He twisted his lips. He didn't think he was going to lose track of time. He had agreed with himself that morning not to go past three in the afternoon because Steve had asked him to meet him in the main room of the Complex to talk about something. He wasn't really specific about it, which he definitely had to have done to get his attention, only mentioning that Tony and Natasha would also be present. Looking at his watch, Bucky wondered if he'd really missed something important.
He sniffed around inside the cafeteria to find you sitting almost at the back of the store, with a muffin that appeared to be chocolate and a white milkshake on the table. You silently watched the table as you ate. You seemed to enjoy the little things in life. That brought a smile to his face.
It was then that he saw you pull your cell phone out of the brown trench coat you were wearing that day, one that Bucky had once given you.
You held your cell phone to your ear and Bucky was gnawing with curiosity as to who you were calling at that moment. Had you agreed to meet someone or…?
His thoughts came to a screeching halt when he felt his cell phone vibrate inside his pocket. Why were you calling him? He frowned when he saw your name on the screen.
“Yes?” Bucky spoke as he answered.
“Are you just going to stand there for the rest of the afternoon?”
Bucky quirked his eyebrows. When he turned to peer inside the cafeteria, you were already looking at him. Bucky felt the heat rush across his face and a shiver run through his body, but he remained impassive. At what point had you noticed? He couldn't remember the last time something like that had happened to him when he was with you before the accident. Mind you, you were very good at controlling your environment. The poor guy tried to put that out of his head as too many memories of the past started bombarding him.
“Come in,” you spoke again before he could respond or think of anything else. “I want to talk to you about something.”
Bucky didn't grumble. Hanging up the call, he walked at a slyly agitated pace into the shop and approached at a steady pace towards where you were waiting for him. His eyes roaming the way your chin was resting on your interlocked hands, your elbows comfortable on the table, watching him approach as if he was the only person inside that coffee shop. Bucky felt his chest heaving.
“YN, I'm really sorry-”
“You don't have to apologize. Honestly, I was hoping you'd come.”
Even though he knew he should, Bucky hadn't expected that response. Smart girl.
“What? Really?”
“Mhm”
"Why?"
“I figured you couldn't help yourself.”
Bucky snorted barely audibly that, had he not had a woman with her full concentration on him, he surely wouldn't have noticed. He moved his eyes away from her, towards the wall with greenish paint on it, and as much as he wanted to deny it, he was glad to hear you brag as you did before.
“You guessed right.”
When Bucky came back to see you, you had a nice tight-lipped smile adorning your face. He wanted to believe that you had done all that drama all day just to have him as a baby duckling behind you, to admire from afar and know that you would have him by your side in less than a second if need be. But it was impossible for him to overlook the dark circles under your eyes. Bucky knows you so well, he knows you are a person whose dream is a saint. Having dark circles under your eyes that decorate the color of your skin is not something Bucky would stop paying attention to, even if he wanted to continue living in his little bubble.
“So what's that you want to talk about?”
You did not hesitate at his question, at the change of the subject. You were still in the same position, with your head on your hands and your gaze averted, immersed in various thoughts that Bucky wanted to dissipate like fog. What little sparkle your eyes had taken on during that short conversation had faded and given way to a strange sense of unease.
“Do you know if I… used to have powers?”
Bucky pondered your question far more than he would have liked to admit. He had imagined this conversation hundreds of times before, but come the moment in real life, face to face, it became much more unreal for those words to come out of your mouth than when they did inside his head. His face did not twitch or stutter as he responded. His expression only showed curiosity.
“Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yes.”
“Why no one ever told me?"
The man took a deep breath.
“Well, I wanted to and had planned to. But the doctor who was treating you back then told me it was best to wait for you to recover the memories on your own. When that didn't happen, he told me to just find the best time to do it. Then, well, I guess I was still holding out a sliver of hope that you would remember something because every day I woke up expecting to hear you call me to tell me something. Evidently that didn't happen either. When I finally made the decision to tell you, the incident happened, and the next day you had no memory of anything.”
I was hoping you would remember.
“And now?“”
“Now… I hadn't thought about it too much these past few days, between the agitation of knowing what happened and the frustration of hopelessness. But I guess I was hoping for a good time, too. I'm sorry. You deserved to know.”
Forgetting wasn't an option, Bucky knew. And he wasn't going to blame you if you hated him for it now. It was something that was a part of you, a piece of your identity, and how he was able to overlook it was inconceivable. Before, maybe he could understand it, because the accident was so recent and forcing you to remember anything could have caused some permanent damage. After that, when you were beginning to be more open to him and seemed willing, the horrors began again. Bucky wanted to say that he had had an excuse, but the truth was that he had no right to keep that in his head…
“Don't worry.”
The man arched his eyebrows, but watching your expression he realized that he was giving the matter more thought than you should be doing. It seemed like you had barely even heard what he had said.
“Why do you ask?”
Silence answered his words. Bucky remained quiet, detailing the riddle you had for a face. He didn't know what that was all about. The walk, being waiting for him, that question about your powers? Something was definitely cooking, but unlike how Bucky thought the situation would be when it came about, you didn't seem too happy to find out.
“How do I know you're honest with me?”
That question caught him off guard. He even moved back a little, closer to the back of the chair, his face scowling.
“I'm always honest with you. I would never lie to you.”
“Under any circumstances?”
“No.”
“Not even for my own sake?”
“No. What's the point of this, YN?”
Bucky watched your chest constrict with each breath in. The atmosphere became tense from one moment to the next, so dense that he could almost feel the air choking him. He wanted to stay focused on the moment, but besides the suspense of the situation, he was disgruntled to think that you really had to deliberate so much in your mind to trust him…
“I think… I think I remembered something.”
The spasm that ran through his body felt like nothing compared to the short-circuit his head was going through. Had he really heard what he had just heard? He blinked shortly, a ringing in his ears becoming the great protagonist of that act, with a trembling body and a frightened mind. He was afraid to speak and the moment would slip through his fingers.
“What?” he barely mumbled.
“I think I had a memory, or two, but I'm not sure.”
“Why?”
Bucky watched you fidget anxiously on the chair, your gaze on anything, any object or person, but him. Your eyes were on everything but him.
“It didn't look like I was seeing it from my point of view. It looked like… a movie.”
Not letting fear dominate his body, Bucky leaned back in his chair and watched you intently. Your anxious movements gave away that what you were telling him had kept you awake, possibly, all night. And yet you waited so long to tell him.
“It was a place where, surely, there was a battle. And there was Natasha, Tony, Carol and Stephen Strange.”
“You know Strange?” Bucky frowned. He couldn't remember seeing him for months. Since the accident, rather.
“I saw him recently.”
Bucky nodded slightly, and made a mental note of it.
“Okay. So what was going on in the memories you saw?”
“First it looked like they were in the middle of the battle. Stephen, Natasha and Tony. But then it looked like it was all over, and there were all of them with Carol.”
“Okay.”
“Do you know if before my accident they all had a mission together?”
Bucky sighed, evoking. Before that accident happened, Bucky had spent a good bit of time in the medical wing. Before and during that situation, Bucky had an injury that kept him out in the field for quite some time, and because of that he missed quite a few things regarding the team. Of course, you were constantly keeping him informed, and the information from that day was definitely clear in his head still. Despite that, even though he knew he should remember, he still had questions about what had happened that day. He used to mix some memories of that day with memories of other days nearby, but some things he could remember clearly. He just had to strain a little to remember and…
“There were several occasions when a large group of the team had to leave at the same time. And the people you mention are very few. There were probably more people.”
“But I didn't see anyone else.”
Bucky sighed. Your disgruntled face filled all his worries and his instincts were geared to get rid of that excess stress on your face. Bucky didn't like to talk about that day anymore, but he didn't plan on keeping anything from you from now on.
“The last time they went out on a mission, which was the time you had the accident, it was Steve, Tony, Natasha, Wanda, Clint, Carol and they called in Strange as backup.”
“You didn't go?”
Bucky shook his head.
“I'd been hurt. Shoulder. It wasn't too serious, healed soon after. But the recommendation was harsh: no missions. So I couldn't go on that one.”
Then, finally, you could look him in the eye. Bucky felt the fog lifting and could see more clearly. Your silence accompanied him in his torment and in his haystack of memories. He wanted to know what was going through your head as you had such a sweet, soft expression unlike how you had been just seconds ago when you murmured, “Maybe it was for the best.”
Heart afloat, Bucky shook his head slightly.
“Do you think your memory is about that last mission?”
Your eyes were still on his, and they stayed that way for another couple of seconds until the fog flooded back into his field of vision.
“Maybe… in the memory they were talking about something that had gone wrong.”
“The accident.”
“Yes. But if that was the case, then it's not my memory, is it?”
Right. Bucky now understood why you were hesitating so much between all your words. You were walking on too unfamiliar ground.
“Ah, I understand. That's why you doubted it was a memory.”
“Yes! Because it doesn't make sense for me to remember something I wasn't present for, if at the time all that was happening I was hurt.”
“Definitely. But then how did that come to you?”
Bucky noticed the doubt on your face, as crystalline as the gleam of glass.
“YN, did something else happen?”
“I told you I saw Strange. The day I met him, I had those images in my head. He just walked past me, but it was as if his gaze triggered everything that happened afterwards.”
“So he caused this.”
“I think so.”
Bucky nodded, but he sensed there was more to it, the way you pursed your lips, fidgeted on the chair, and avoided his gaze. You'd been doing all that for as long as you'd been telling him things, but when you finally told him something, at the end, he could stare at you, and that's when Bucky knew you'd gotten it all out. But now…
“We need to talk to them, then.”
“What?”
“Let's go and talk. Surely there's a reason behind that.”
“But what if they're lying? What if they wouldn't have done it with a good intention?”
“I don't think so. I mean, I've known them for quite a while and I know the relationships you had with them, and I know they wouldn't do anything on purpose to hurt you.”
Bucky noticed the glint of fear in your eyes and it was contagious. He doubted his own words then. There was something else…
“Y/N-”
He moved his hands from his lap, where he kept them constantly hidden, and tried to bring them closer to yours on the table, but your reflexes were more skillful and before you could have any hint of contact, you disappeared from his physical field. Unable to keep your gaze on his, Bucky understood that he should not insist any longer. He leaned back on the chair again and waited for something… anything.
“I'll think about it.”
“YN…”
“I'm going now. You don't have to follow me, it won't be long before I'm back at the Complex.”
“Hey,” Bucky couldn't stop his mouth, but when he caught your attention and your eyes were on his, he didn't risk stopping. “You know you can trust me, right? Of all the people on this planet, you can trust me with anything. I know you don't remember anything about me or what we went through together, but I swear I'm willing to do anything, anything at all, if you only ask. I'm on your side, always, that's never going to change, okay?”
Bucky still saw the haze, but he felt hopeful. A slight nod from you without looking away was more than enough answer for all his inner doubts.
Within seconds, you left the cafeteria.
-
Bucky soon returned to the Complex after that talk, increasingly eager to confront Steve. He had more questions than he should have, although the information you had shared with him was not in the big picture a great revelation.
Except for Stephen Strange. That was unusual.
Steve Rogers was right where he said he would be waiting for him at three o'clock that day. Next to him, Natasha Romanoff sprawled over part of the L-shaped couch in the middle of the large room of the Complex. Bucky barely caught a glimpse of Steve's shoulders moving before he acknowledged his presence.
“Bucky,” his friend greeted him, turning around to observe him. Natasha from her position raised her head, and straightened up on the seat in quick movements.
He walked a little further into the room, with the gaze of his two friends of work on him, watching him so carefully that he soon felt like a cornered gazelle.
No. No, no, no, no, no. The ones who should be cornered should have been them.
“What did you want to talk to me about?”
Steve shared a none-too-disguised complicit look with Natasha before answering:
“Well, we could wait until we're complete to start-”
“I don't care that Stark isn't here. You are here. So tell me,” Bucky retorted, clasping his hands. “What did you guys want to talk about?”
He stressed each word heavily, reminding them that he was a man of little patience at the right times.
“It's a touchy subject,” in that moment, Natasha spoke up.
“All the more reason you should start talking.”
“Bucky, believe me, it's better if we're all.”
“I'm having a little trouble doing that, Steve.”
Bucky didn't do much to disguise the anger he felt at the confusion, because somehow he felt that what you had told him and what Steve had wanted to tell him were things that were better understood if he put them together. Whatever these people were willing to tell him, it definitely had to be related to what had happened to you. Steve didn't usually treat any subject with such diplomacy. And, if it was about you, it was clear that it wasn't just any subject.
“Why are you talking like that?” Steve stood up, his wary gaze on Bucky's angry face.
“Stop deflecting the subject. You hadn't made such a big deal about this meeting when you told me about it this morning. Was it always this important or did it only become relevant during the last few hours?”
“It was always important,” Steve nodded, his breathing heavy in time with his partner.
“You have no reason to be angry right now, Barnes.”
Why the fuck do they say things like that?
Natasha's voice, folded arms sitting on the armrest of the couch, brought back memories of one of the most horrible moments of his life.
“And you guys have no reason to be acting this suspicious, but see yourselves.”
“We're not acting-”
“Drop it,” Bucky interrupted Steve, and shifted his body to head for the exit of the room. “Better call me when you want to talk about something serious, like adults.”
And Bucky thought he could leave that there, maybe the subject would die and in time he'd realize he wasn't right. And it would be the first time he'd be happy he'd been wrong about something.
But the red and blue flashes that appeared in front of him as he was about to leave the room made him wish he wasn't so quick to claim victory.
Strange was standing in front of him, right at the exit of the room. His arms were crossed over his chest and his gaze was fixed on the man who continued to clasp his hands.
“He already knows,” Stephen spoke up, “Or at least part of it.”
Bucky felt a chill run through his body, not as welcome as the one he felt when you told him you'd remembered something.
“I don't want you going near her again,” Bucky almost growled through his teeth.
“Or what, Barnes, you'll stop me with your little metal hand?”
“Strange,” Natasha raised her voice.
Alluded barely let out a short laugh.
“I'm trying to help her.”
“Well, it's backfiring on you.”
“Does she remember what happened?” Steve walked over to Bucky, who gave him barely a sidelong glance.
“What the heck happened?”
Steve pursed his lips, and again shared that weird look with the other two present. Bucky was starting to get too exasperated and soon he wouldn't have as much patience and would have any more stuck up courage to take it anymore.
“I think you need to sit down to hear this.”
It was Carol Danvers who spoke, no doubt. Behind his back was her, surely with a river of people that Bucky had no desire to face at the moment. He didn't like the pace this situation was taking, nor the pace the day had taken. Why couldn't he stay in on a quiet afternoon, sipping vanilla milkshakes with chocolate muffins? Why was the world constantly taking pains to snatch away any hint of happiness from him?
“I think you've been wondering a lot of things about what happened that day for a while now,” Carol spoke again, and though Bucky really didn't want to face what seemed to be about to happen, he turned around to look at the blonde who was talking to him, with several people now filling the room.
He didn't even have to name them. He just had to remember that day, and remember how the names of each of them had come out of your mouth that day. The day that, unbeknownst to him, would be the last day he would share with his old friend joy.
“Sit. Let's talk.”

i really want to read this and im looking forward to reading it, but i’ve never read an unfinished fic… when do you expect the final chapter will come out? 😊
hi there! honestlyyyy…. rn our projection for the final chapter to come out is around march next year with a high probability of it being a little later because we have a very busy few months ahead for all three of us 😗 i know a lot of people have expressed something similar about not wanting to get into it until it’s done, especially bc they are worried about getting invested in a fic that won’t be finished, and i mean this very genuinely when i say that really and truly we think that reading acswy when it updates and following along with all the fun stuff on our blog is half the fun, at least for us! we are also at a pretty insane word limit for not even being halfway through so i will also go so far as to say that waiting until it’s finished and trying to read the whole thing in one go might be a lot more overwhelming than trying to simply follow along/catch updates as they drop when you can. i promise i’m not saying this to promo or market the fic in any way because different readers have different preferences and reading styles when it comes to fic, but (and largely due to the fact that it will probably be over 400k when it’s finished and not finished at all for a While) we’d like to encourage you to give this one a try before it’s completed if you can!

A/N: Y’all don’t even know how im about to drag you through the weeds with this series! Happy reading!
Part 2
Tumblr media
November 6, 1954
Nervous isn't the right word to describe how you're feeling right now; your heart is in your ass. It all started as a silly joke between you and your friend Mackenzie, who you dubbed 'Sister Mack' or sometimes just 'Mack.' Sister Mack and her family were the only white people that gave you the time of day.
You had been singing since you could form words. Everyone in the neighborhood was sure to let you know you had the loveliest voice around, and your mama had always been so supportive. She'd encourage you to sing to your heart's content. That's how you met Mack, around fifteen or so. She said she'd never heard someone sound so good.
Mack played the guitar and would often join you whenever you sang, adding an alluring melody to your vocals.
When she introduced you to her family, they were more accepting than you would've thought. 'Ma and pop' treated you like one of their own and supported you just as much as your folks.
Her brother, Greg, a tall, twenty-two-year-old, rambunctious man with fluffy brown hair and striking green eyes, had a love for percussion that you couldn't even begin to understand. He had no rhythm; half the time, he was just making noise on that drumset. Bless him. Eventually, you taught him how to play in time. That's when he joined you and Mack.
Valerie and Angel were Mack's older sisters. A sweet set of twins who absolutely adored you. They were great at harmonizing and loved the style of music you introduced them to. Over the next four years, the five of you managed to make it onto a local radio station. You wanted a heftier challenge though.
So here you all sit, about to shit yourselves. What you were about to do hasn't been done before. A black woman, or any black person for that matter, in a place like this? Unheard of. The strings your and Mack's family had to pull to get your name on the list were the only reason you hadn't hightailed it out of there.
Would you be throttled off the stage? Arrested? You didn't have a clue, but this was your only chance to advance in this business. All the money (and begging) spent to get to this point wouldn't go to waste.
"You guys ready?" Mack asks, "Sister Mack, I-I feel like I'm gon' drop. I-Is it hot in here? I'm burnin' up." You stammer out. She lets out a nervous chuckle, "It's just nerves, Y/N. We're gon' do fine." You nod your head in an attempt to convince yourself that she's right. You had gained a spot on the Louisiana Hayride, now was not the time to get cold feet.
Before your act, there was another. Some white boy in a suit that looked about two times too large; he wore eyeliner, and his hair had been slicked to perfection, save for the few strands that fell in his face. The thin layer of sweat that adorned his browbone and his heavy breathing let you know that he, too, was scared shitless.
The host introduced him as Elvis Presley. This 'Presley' boy expressed gratitude for being here with a painful stutter and a wavering voice. A few snide remarks are made, followed by chuckles here and there. You look away, disinterested, thinking he would be another country singer. You couldn't be more wrong. He starts playing; the song begins slow, his voice low and bouncy. "Oh baby, baby, baby..." You're uninterested again, just like that. But then the tempo shifts to something more upbeat.
You sit up a bit, brows raising and eyes widening as he bellows out, "Well... you may go to college, you may go to school, you may have a pink Cadillac, but don't you be nobody's fool." You don't even hear the rest; all you see is a man wiggling his hips in a way that sets a warm feeling deep in your belly. It feels wrong. Traditionally, people stay seated at these shows, not while he's up there. Women left and right pop up out of their seats, shamelessly forgetting about their boyfriends. Screams start as one and become many, soon filling the room.
His movements are nothing new to you, but his charisma sure is. You look on in amazement. The man in front of you makes your heart flutter, and as you look a little closer, you realize he's just so pretty. You wonder if he'd think the same of you. "Fat chance," You mumble out. Greg, somehow, hears you, "What do ya mean, Y/N?"
You don't want him to know you've been ogling too, "uh...how are we s'posed to top that? It's just a fat chance, is all." Val speaks up, "It ain't a competition, Y/N. Show a lil' gumption, and all eyes will be on you."
You shake your head with a smile, "I don't think gumption will save me this time, Val." Mack chimes in, "worked for that white boy, didn't it?" This makes you laugh, "fair enough, Mack, fair enough." Soon, Elvis finishes his set; he and his crew exit the stage. As they make their way back, he glances at you, eyes widening just a hair.
You don't even notice, too focused on battling your nerves. The host speaks up again, "Woo! Quite a show, huh, ladies? Alright, Well...next, we've got Y/N L/N and the Sound Of The South!"
The first to walk on is Greg, then sister Mack, then Val and Angel. Lastly, you grace the stage. It gets so quiet you could hear a pin drop. As you look out over the crowd, you see a mix of confusion, interest, and disgust. You don't let it phase you. You step up to the mic and take a deep breath.
Alright, here we go.

*bangs fists on table* haikyuu and food!!!!!!!! and how furudate uses it to illustrate the varying levels of drive different characters have!!!!
so, context (chp 213), this panel is hinata narrating as he's walking to the bus stop after day 2 of the first years training camp. he was told a few hours ago by washijo that he's not allowed to stay for meals or to sleep over, but since then he's been diligently watching the other players who were invited—he stays late after the regular hours of the camp for extra practice as a ball boy not a spiker/player. and the FIRST thing we see once he's done playing is four whole pages of how hungry he is and what should he do about it, and not just to literally feed his physical hunger but also in order to become a better player!!! food is muscle!!
all of that is so so good and makes me crazy but what i wanna talk about real quick is just this little panel. (1 i love that hinata is even thinking about whether tsukki is eating, he's probably half jealous wishing he could eat those wasted leftovers, and half actually worried whether he's eating) But mostly it's the "he'll leave stuff if nobody's watching to make sure he does [clean his plate]" line that i think is extra effective here
it's so small in comparison to the rest of hinata's hunger narration, but i love that furudate does take a moment to acknowledge that not all of the players are as hungry as hinata! and by using tsukki, someone who we know is less passionate and driven than a lot of the other characters—who earlier in this chapter refused to do extra practice, while hinata accepted it—as the example of someone who eats less, it just further emphasizes furudate's point that it isn't just physical hunger we're talking about here. hunger=desire, drive, passion
and then the bit about tsukki only finishing when someone's watching is a great piece of characterization and insight into his current volleyball mindset—tsukki doesn't like to eat a lot. tsukki only puts in the minimum effort necessary. tsukki will get away with less if no one is looking—in life and on the court. and none of this is new info either, hinata has been eating a ton since the beginning of the series and tsukki has been eating less (there's the scenes at tokyo camp of the third years trying to get him to eat more, or if you ever look his plate in any eating scene his portion is way smaller than everyone else's, despite him being a lot bigger than them) and furudate chooses now, when hinata is at the biggest developmental crossroads of his life to start to really start to shine a light on the theme!!
then of course hunger is contagious too and eventually during camp tsukki does stay for extra practice, he specifically invites hinata to practice with him, and even though tsukki questions himself, he does it anyway (chp 214)
Tumblr media
and eventually, eventually, tsukki does start to get hungry too (chps 283 & 284, right to left)
Tumblr media
it's not 'ugh i'm so tired i want to stop,' it's 'ugh im so tired, i wish i had enough to keep going' which isn't too far of a jump to him saying 'i like this, i want to keep going' !! which of course, he does admit to volleyball being fun the next day during the next match, thanks to everyone who helped him get there, including hinata and his contagious, never ending hunger
food is volleyball, volleyball is fun and volleyball is connection, connection is love
it was never just about food!!!!!!!!

Kings of Spades - Part 3 l Luca Changretta x M!OC
Summary: An Italian-American and a Polish jew walk into a shitty bar... Previous chapter Next Chapter
Warnings: some swearing
A/N:The fourth chapter is slooooowly on it's way, but i'm now stuck in the wrote-too-much-at-once-and-now-im-tired loop, but i'll try to get it done before the week is over :> There will be more action then (and waaaaaay more of our main pair interacting). For now, have a short part 3 of "Local Polish boy not having a good time" this whole fic is going to be a... maybe not a SLOW burn, but a medium burn, a candle wick, if you will. Anyways, enjoy!
Tumblr media
It’s as public as it gets, he thinks. A clean, but still crowded bar outside Small Heath. As soon as Juliusz steps foot inside, he’s hit with a scent of cigar smoke and a hint of liquor, perhaps spilled somewhere in the corner. It's usually more lively on the weekends, but Juliusz figured it's busy enough on a simple work-day evening. The usual crowd of after-work drinkers and young couples provided a noise to the place, one that was more of an ambience to a conversation, not an added stimulus. He leaned against the bar, ordering a scotch to mope over while waiting on a guest he hoped would perish before getting here.
He’d arrived before Changretta, at least he hoped so, Juliusz purposely came half an hour earlier than he told the Italians to. It wasn’t a friendly invitation, in his briefcase he found a hotel room number with Changretta’s initials written below. Juliusz took Polly's advice and called it. He simply told them an address, date and to meet him, hanging up the phone immediately afterwards.
"Make him trust you. You'll do fine." Polly said as she stopped by his office at midday. When Juliusz asked her what makes her so sure of it, she chuckled. "You're both smartass men, have a drink with him, have a laugh, be yourself for once Julius."
"And that'll work?" Juliusz sighed and finally looked up from some contracts with the labour movements. Who knew working part time as a double agent didn't erase day-to-day work.
"We'll see. That's one thing i can't fortell." She smiles slyly, then turns stern. "If he tells you any plans-"
"I'll be sure to update Thomas." he cuts her off , slowly being done with this conversation. He doesn't need any reminders of what plans he has today.
He downed his drink in one gulp, not focusing on the taste, earning a raised eyebrow from the barkeep, who shortly returned to his duties. The lawyer put down his glass with a thud and brushed his hair back, resting both his elbows on the surface of the bar. After a moment, he stood up straight and tried to appear composed. God, what a mess he was from the moment he called the Italians up to sitting in this bar. Juliusz walked around the office like any second someone would come around the corner and strangle him, and he wouldn't be quite sure if it was a greasy Italian or a brutal Brummie.
He lasted a few hours before Tommy sent him home, on account of “you're not yourself right now, go rest up”.  Rubbish, Juliusz thought. He busied his evening with a short visit at Arthur's place, having countless cigarettes and a few drinks with his friend, and a conversation that fortunately distracted Juliusz for a while.
"Linda, hey." Juliusz greeted her with a small smile, Linda seemed tense when he saw her approaching the door, only relaxing when she noticed the familliar face of a family friend. "Is Arthur there?"
"Yes, come in Julius, it's freezing out." She opened the door wider with her foot, only to reveal her holding Billy, who she immediatly put in Juliusz' arms.
"Billy-boy! I've missed you." He cooed at the baby as he followed Linda. "Are you bigger or have i gotten weaker?" He muses half-heartedly to the child as he enters the main room.
"Knowing the two of you, both." Arthur approached him with a smile on his face and a whiskey in his hand. "Linda told you weren't looking so good at work." He sounded curious as they sat down, Arthur with Billy on his lap and Juliusz opposite them. The lawyer takes a sip of whiskey.
"I'm all right Arthur, really." He sighs. "I'm allowed to be a bit distracted from all this Italian business, eh?" He said, hoping his friend would either believe him, or give him a break. It would probably be the second option, Arthur's more perceptive than people give him credit for. Arthur studied him for a bit, then smiled sadly and poured them both more booze.
"Billy said his first word." He changed the subject.
"Let me guess, fook." Juliusz tried his best to mimick the accent.
"Yeah, you fookin' wish." Arthur grumbled, but couldn't help but chuckle. "It was 'chickens'. My boy said 'chickens'. Linda said how she missed 'em and he said it after her." He ruffled Billys' blonde hair gently, and Juliusz smiled.
Billy grew, as the Polish saying goes, like on yeast, and it's always precious to see a man like Arthur grow soft just for this one being. His usually sharp features getting softer with a smile, his rough hands made for fighting and killing, now handling the child with such softness and carefulness. It's always precious to Juliusz, to see people turn softer right in front of your eyes, it's a form of trust you don't get from a lot of people, even from himself. It's closure, though for some, a sign of weakness. It definetly is in this line of work. Arthur always seemed like a good man at heart, really, or at least, as good as any man in this godforsaken family could be. As much as Juliusz missed his friend in Small Heath over the year, you could clearly see that country life suited him.
Before Christmas Juliusz and Arthur only sporadically saw each other, on account of the pole's association with Thomas and his company, and the bad blood the two brothers shared. The vendetta forced the family together again, and even though it came with its fair share of blood,  poor John , it made Juliusz feel like a part of life in Birmingham came back. He once again could see the Brummie family bicker, the ever-growing pack of kids running around and meet his closest friends. However, at the back of his mind, a speck of doubt lingered, does Thomas  really  know what he’s doing? Is he underestimating Changretta? Is what Juliusz is doing worth risking his skin?
He couldn't sleep at first, then when he finally did, waking up in the morning the last thing he wanted to do was get up and start the day. Juliusz dreaded 9 P.M, he dreaded it when he ate breakfast, he dreaded it when he came to work, and finally dreaded it when he put on his best suit just an hour before his scheduled meeting with the Italian mafioso. And now he sat and waited, from the perspective of an outsider, he looked like a man waiting on an awkward date. Juliusz wanted to order another drink when just next to his hand, a hat was placed.
"Started without me?" The foreign drawl sent shivers down his spine, Juliusz's gaze went from the hat to the tattooed palm up to a soft suit and finally, the face of Luca Changretta himself. He somehow looked even more smug than the last time he saw the Italian. That damn toothpick hanging loosely from his lips, connected to a slight smirk. Juliusz tried to straighten up even more and appear confident and unamused.
"It's only an appetizer, for waiting." He cleared his throat, sliding the glass to the barkeep.
"It's not wise to start a business meeting by getting drunk." Changretta nodded at a booth nearby, earning a shrug from Juliusz, who followed.
"It takes a lot more to get me drunk." He mused, step-in-step with Luca. "Back in the war, they'd give us more schnapps and vodka than water, safer to drink, they told us." When they approached their seats, two drinks already waiting for them.
"You fought in France?" Luca sat down with a quiet groan, crossing his legs. He knew this wasn't the case, but it's a good opportunity to test any lies the man could spew at him, and to make Julius talk more. Maybe he'll get more information if he just lets Ferenz run his mouth.
"Russia. Mostly, at least. Fought alongside the Austrians." It wasn't exactly  like that, but he didn't feel like explaining the nuances of the eastern border in The Great War to Luca goddamn Changretta of all people. He already tortured all the poor Blinders with political talk, that's why he wasn't allowed more than seven drinks at the Garrison.
"I thought you were a commie." Changretta raised an eyebrow.
"I wouldn't call myself that. More of a supporter of equality, i'd say." It was true. While he thought Ada was intelligent and well-spoken, his favourite person to talk world-events to, he was against an armed revolution. He saw enough bayonets and corpses for one lifetime.
"Same difference. Wouldn't the Russians be your fighting buddies then?” Changretta still pressed the subject. Sure, he knew Ferenz's alliances politically and military-wise, but he wanted to hear from Julius himself. It's easier to tell a lie that way, or at least that's what Luca told himself.
"Not if I wanted an independent homeland after the war. The Russians never hid the fact that they saw Poland as theirs. If I could choose between standing with the Marxists and a free Poland, I'd always choose the second option.” He rambled for a hot second, when he does so, he tends to show off his hands more, either tapping on the table or rubbing against eachother. He cursed internally and could physically feel Changretta looking at his heavily scarred palms, they aren't pretty, but then again, it's better than having none, Juliusz always figured when trying to make himself feel better. To his surprise, Luca only looked up and continued their conversation without even sounding different. He didn't notice? He had to. Odd.
“Understandable.” Luca hummed and nodded ever-so-slightly, taking a small sip from his drink, wincing. Juliusz wasn’t sure if it was the Italian being an arrogant snob or just a lightweight. “So, you thought about what I said then?”
“Clearly.” He muffled a laugh in his chest, pointing his hand lazily between the two of them and where they were. “I’m what you’re looking for.” He stated, his gaze confident when meeting with Changretta’s.
“I know.” That’s all Luca says.
“I’m present at all family meetings, and have access to official documents, files, you name it.” Juliusz took Changretta's short phrase as a hint he may need to convince the Italian a bit more. “They trust me.”
“Even after we picked you up?” He asks, his eyebrows raised in a pretendingly shocked face, making the lines on his forehead thicken even more so.
“You only beat me and tried to scare me.” Juliusz’s last words were a bit muffled by him taking a sip of his drink, and he winced as well, damn, Changretta isn’t being a snob right now, the drinks here are just shit. “Officially, at least.” He put it down and looked around.
This earned a chuckle from the Italian.
“Tommy bought it?” Luca tapped his finger on the rim of his glass, not seeming to want to drink it anymore, using it to fidget.
“I can only assume so. I wouldn’t underestimate him if I were you.” Juliusz adds.
“If I wanted to, he’d be dead already.” He says in a condescending tone, ever so pleased with himself. Juliusz rolls his eyes.
“That’s the thing though, right? You don’t want him dead just yet.” He raises an eyebrow at Luca. A long silence passes between them, both men assessing the situation internally. Finally, Juliusz added. “Are you going to uphold your end of the deal?”
Luca took a heavy breath, closing his eyes for a brief moment. He then leaned forward and in a low tone answered. “Arthur Shelby killed my father.”
Juliusz sighed. “Out of mercy, would you rather he left him with a delusional, grieving Thomas?” He eyed Changretta and pointed a finger in his direction. Juliusz knew what went on in that fucking room with Signiore Changretta and Thomas, he's never seen Tommy in such a state. It scared him, honestly. “He spared your mother as well, John too.”
“Where have I heard that before…” Luca scoffed, leaning back into the red velvety cushions. “Sparing my momma, was your first mistake.”
Juliusz only hummed in shy agreement, finally deciding to give the now lukewarm drink in front of him another chance. It’s somehow even more bitter and dry. Before he can come up with an answer, comment or a quip, Changretta adds.
“Were you there?” It sounds almost…empty, the way he said it. Juliusz puts down his glass and slowly considers what to say.
“Not… Physically, no. My Blinder business ends when it comes to… Getting rid of people the Brummie way.” He tried his best to keep eye contact with Changretta, but as he continues speaking, the Italians’ eyes got slightly sadder, so slightly Juliusz would have missed it if he wasn’t paying attention to his body language. The lawyer felt a slight tug at his insides, heart maybe, guilt? No, that would be absurd, he wasn’t there, it’s not his business. He doesn't and shouldn't care. His business is to stay alive. Juliusz averted his gaze to a very uninteresting spot on the table. “Would you kill me on the spot if I said I wanted both of your parents dead?” He wanted to say literally anything else, but that was somehow the only thing on his mind right now, and what came out of his mouth. To his utter disbelief, Changretta laughed.
“Of course not.” He says like Juliusz just assumed the most unrealistic thought possible. “Why did you?” He asked, his eyes now seeming more pleasantly amused than anything. Even if he'd never admit it, it calmed Juliusz down.
“Ms. Changretta was a loose end. It was foolish of Arthur and John to let her leave England.” It was the same thing he told Arthur, John, Thomas and literally anyone in on the whole ordeal. Changretta nodded in agreement, then smiled.
“If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be having drinks together, eh, Mr Ferenz?” He raised his own glass, thick rings clinking against it quietly. Juliusz smirks at him as he meets the Italians’ glass in a toast. After they both had a sip, Changretta winced at the taste once again and put down his now empty glass, as Juliusz muttered something in Polish Luca couldn’t quite decipher, but still found himself trying to pay extra attention to the way his voice sounded and words rolled off the tongue. “I’ll consider your term.”
On the outside, Juliusz only nodded approvingly and thanked him for his consideration. Inside, he felt the biggest relief in a while, as long as he played along with this silly ego game Changretta and Thomas played, at least some people would be safe.
“Well, I hoped the drinks would be better if I have to be honest with you.” He quipped with a smile. “It’s not a good introduction to England’s fine alcohol.”
“True.” Luca chuckles. “But there’s always next time, now  I got a job for you.”
“A job?” Next time?
“A few, actually, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.” He stops and looks at Juliusz. “Do I have your back, Ferenz?” His tone isn’t cold, but it definitely gives the Pole a shiver, which he blames on the bars' poor wall quality of all things.
“If you’ll have mine. I’m not planning to die here, not for Thomas, anyway.” He says, with the best fake distain he can manage. Luca nods.
“Good. Then I guess I won’t be needing this.” He reaches into his breast pocket and takes out a silk pocket square. “Take good care of it, i might need it later after all.” He slides it over to Juliusz with a knowing smile. Juliusz doesn’t take it yet, looking between the fabric and Changretta.
The Italian stands up, buttoning up his suit. He takes two steps and when he’s next to a sitting Juliusz, he leans down just a bit, his voice hushed, but not quite a whisper.
"Benvenuto. I'll call.” Is the last thing he says.
And with that, he’s lost in the growing crowd.
After a long moment of staring at the last place he saw the man, Juliusz carefully unfolds the reddish silk, revealing an unshot bullet. On it, in scratched, ominous writing, is a name.
His name.
