oh this is so so good, I love it
Annie comes bounding out of the classroom one day with a flyer in her hand and immediately sprints towards matty shouting "DADDY!!!"
he was holding a can of coke but has to promptly drop it and catch his daughter hurtling towards him. luckily, he quickly catches her with a grunt.
you come running up behind her in an attempt to stop her jumping into mattys arms, clearly just a few seconds too late. Panting you say to matty, "Sorry! I knew she was excited, but I didn't anticipate that! as soon as I saw her running, I knew what was happening. and I knew you'd have your can of coke, so I tried to help. clearly speed isn't my strong suit, " you say sheepishly, bent over, trying to get your breath back.
soon you catch yourself and realise something; matty is currently looking very hot, and right now, you're red-faced and panting like a dog. you shoot up and smile, trying to play it off.
matty clearly catches onto your attempt to act casual. but mercifully, he leaves you alone and shoots you that dazzling smile that weakens your knees.
"You've noticed my Coca-Cola habit?" he couldn't resist a small bit of teasing.
you begin to stutter, but little Annie Healy saves the day and starts chatting, "daddy! there's a day where you come in and talk about your job!!! can uncle Adam, uncle George and uncle Ross come too??" she's talking animatedly with her hands, a habit you've noticed in matty too.
"woah munchkin that sounds like so much fun! when is it?" matty says tickling her stomach with one hand and grinning wildly at her raucous laughter.
"oh don't worry about coming Mr. Hea- sorry Matty" he'd corrected you about 40 times at this point but still you slipped up, "I know you're probably crazy busy with your band and tour and everything!" you say shaking your head.
obviously, you wanted him there, but also, you don't know if you could handle him looking hot and playing guitar in your classroom. the dreams you'd been having about him were already far beyond the scope of what's appropriate, and seeing that would not help.
"Oh, you know I'm going on tour?" matty says, smirking. You look like a dear in headlights - knowing you'd been caught doing some light Instagram stalking. but once again, annie the angel saved you.
"no daddy I told Miss y/n about it! I told her you're gonna get me presents in every country!!" Annie says, nodding assuredly.
"Oh, every country? is that right? I'm not sure I remember saying that?" matty teases Annie, who looks offended at his suggestion.
"Sorry to interrupt this very important conversation," you tease, "but just letting you know the parents' day is next Friday, please feel free to come if you can! I'm sure the kids would love a performance. "
matty nods and says, "I'll be there," obviously accompanied by a cheeky wink because it's matty.
as he's walking away you shout at him, "just... choose your songs carefully... I'm not sure the parents would love an impromptu performance of love it if we made it..." with a cheeky smile you spin on your heel and walk away.
matty is laughing at your words as you fight the urge to turn around and see his reaction.

cut to parents day, you were up late trying to find the perfect outfit. insisting it was for all the parents... not just matty.
he strolls in, guitar case in hand, looking amazingly causal and mind numbingly attractive.
you make eye contact from across the room and try not to swoon at his wave, scolding yourself for acting like a teenager over something so simple.
he sits in the back with the rest of the parents listening to you talk. He loved watching you in your element, keeping the kids entertained and making subtle jokes for the parents.
After a little bit, it's finally his turn. You introduce him and embarrass him a little by calling him a rockstar, loving the way his cheeks colour once you said it.
matty comes up, assures everyone he is not a rockstar and tella them he's here to play a few songs, "now if you know any of my bands music I'm just going to quickly assure you, I'm not signing any of those songs. I'm not too sure this is my ideal audience"
you stifle a laugh at the back of the room, and matty shoots you a look, tilted head with a sly smirk resting on his face.
he sings a few songs (i can't think of appropriate songs rn- you fill in the blank lol), and you stand there with a hand on your chest and heart eyes the whole time.
soon enough, everyone is clapping, and you quickly realised you had zoned out, and matty had finished signing. you shoot up and start clapping just a few beats too late.
Your behaviour was not missed by matty, who had to put his head down to hide his laughter. luckily, he could pass it off as being shy at the all the attention.
after everyone else had finsihed you send the kids and parents out to the playground to run around whilst you clean up your room a little bit.
"need a little help?" you scream at the voice before turning around and breathing a sigh of relief at matty.
he's giggling to himself and you slap him lightly, "don't laugh! I'm very easily scared okay!"
he holds his hands up in surrender, "Okay! okay! anyway, my offer still stands - you want some help? Annie is out there entertaining a crowd, so I figured I'd slip away"
"ah like father like daughter then I see" you tease, "I would love some help, thanks matty" you smile and begin fixing the chairs and tables.
After a bit of silent work matty chimes in, "you know that's the first time you've ever called me matty without almost saying Mr. Healy first"
"Oh... yeah, I'm just getting comfortable with you, I guess. " You smile over at him, and he looks up too, locking eyes with you.
and for a beat, you're both stood there- eyes locked, softly smiling at one another.
you think matty's eyes dart down to your lips at one point, but that can't be right.
before long, a kid comes bounding in distracting you, and then matty gets dragged back out onto the playground by Annie.
you don't get a proper goodbye. But through the window of the classroom, you catch each other's eyes and wave, both trying to act completely casually but beaming internally.

-All of them like to go get ice cream together, and Finney doesn't care too much for cones so sometimes if he is particularly feeling like not having much he'll just eat the ice cream and leave the cone for Bruce to munch on.
-Other times if he gets a sundae, if he doesn't finish he let's anyone who wants it (Robin, Griffin, or Gwen) have it. Robin or Bruce also just let Finney have of some of their own when Finney doesn't feel like having much.
-Vance would do that free sample, walk out shit. He would and in the beginning Billy scolded him for it and stopped him before he left. Billy has eaten just free samples once and if he's feeling devious he will eat free sample ice cream and walk out (again). Hypocrite
-If Griffin is too shy to ask for a flavor sample then literally anyone in the group would get the sample for him. Specifically Vance would be like, "Here. Try. ... What do you think"

-Finney would play with anyone's hair. He plays with his own hair, just absent-mindedly twirling it. It's not a secret that he plays with anyone's hair but particularly if it's Bruce's hair and it's the end of the day, or the day was just stressful, Finney just combs his fingers front to back while they cuddle and watch tv.

-Bruce gives Gwen piggyback rides
-The boys all have (horror) movie night each week, and sometimes Gwen tags along, too. Robin knows all the best so he usually picks

Venus actually has a decently important role as The Oracle of the Multiverse, which sounds crazy, but there's lore.
She has the ability to hear everything in the multiverse through her antenna (kind of like a radio signal), this includes future events!! But she can only hear, she can't see.
She only discovered this ability when she was pulled out of her AU, since it's not an ability she's actually born with, it's just her antenna picking up on everything around her.
She does have important relationships with some of the other characters, so lemme give a run down!!
Ink
Ink was actually Venus' first real friend when her AU was destroyed. Her hearing allowed her to hear him all the way in the Doodlesphere, and as someone who was new to the concept of the multiverse (and with scary new hearing abilities), she assumed he was a safe presence.
Ink actually also enjoyed her company as well, he used to draw her a lot, and her hearing abilities were considered helpful to him. However, after so long of being with him in the Doodlesphere, he noticed she wasn't really thriving in the ways he knew she could, so he ended up putting her in the company of someone else. That would be Fresh.
Their friendship is super strained because she misunderstood his true intentions, but they are mostly friendly, and she does cooperate with him when he needs her omni-hearing.
Error
Venus considers him her other coworker alongside Ink. She finds herself between the two on many occasions, but doesn't seem to mind. She actually does find Error pleasant, but they still struggle to actually get along because of their lack of an energy match.
Thanks to being between Ink and Error, Venus had to make a Vow of Neutrality, promising that she would not withhold oracle information from either of them, and they would get the same information. This vow is broken when Ink breaks his truce with Error, and Venus sides with the latter instead.
They get along on the occasion, but she mostly find him to be a fun target for teasing and irriating. When he destroyed those AU's, she was very much angrier with Ink than him.
Fresh
Fresh is pretty much Venus' best friend, and the only person that knows almost everything about her.. aside from Hatter. (More on him another time!!) They're an iconic duo in the Multiverse, almost never being found separated from each other.. unless they're doing their own thing, obviously. Otherwise, they're practically attached at the hip.
They're pretty much a major headache to anybody that has the fortune of being within 30 feet of them. They have an almost perfect energy match and no idea what a volume button is, so they're loud!! Venus has known Fresh since what feels like eons, even managing to escape becoming a potential vessel.. for a bargain, of course.
Cross
This one was actually pretty complicated to get an idea for because I know she didn't like him at first. Venus thought he was a problem thanks to the X-Event and the chaos that followed, however her mind changes.
She realizes that she needs to separate her anger towards Ink's broken promises and recognize that Cross was genuinely going through a lot of internal problems. Some that even she could relate to.
She definitely attempted to speak to him while he was in the Omega Timeline, since she was already there to comfort the poor anomalies that already lost their lives or homes.
Dream
Venus doesn't typically work with Dream, but seeing as they're both emotion based, they probably team up occasionally. Especially where Venus' powers involve emotional projection, she's able to help increase the flow of positive energy to give him a decent boost.
They're friends at best, often having similar opinions on things and even similar ideals!!
Nightmare
Venus has her ears on this guy for sure. In fact, she uses her emotional abilities in The Hub (more lore on that later) to help others get rid of their negative feelings. She wants to ensure that he has trouble causing or bringing harm to anyone under the influence of their own feelings. Unfortunately, she isn't always successful.
Rue

Venus actually does like Rue a lot, she considers them a good friend despite the fact that they hang around Error all the time.. but she knows better than to let that dictate her opinions on people!!
She finds them pretty odd, seeing as they're a virus, but she's no better for hanging out with the parasite, so she pushes that aside. As long as Rue doesn't become a real threat towards Venus, she believes they're totally great best friends.. or something.
Null

Venus is familiar with Null as the Multiverse's form of transportation, but they don't cross paths often enough to chat all the time. Regardless, in the few times they have stopped to chat, Venus has found them rather pleasant, but confusing. She feels like they have a potential energy match, but she's not too sure.. they seem odd. But once again, she's never let that prevent her from making a friend!! Perhaps she'll have to invite them around so she can get to know them better.
Void

Venus thinks Void is pretty silly and.. also pretty stupid, but that doesn't mean she doesn't like their company!! She pities them, actually, considering they lost their memories. She believes it's depressing for forget who you are and who you came from, but Void seems so shockingly nonchalant about it. She just can't wrap her head around them. She's very fond of them, even if she feels bad for poor Goldie's loss.

Venus comforted Goldie when he first came to the Omega Timeline with the belief that his friend was dead. She thought it was such a heavy burden for him to have to carry all on his own, especially after finding out that his friend no longer had their memories.
Her heart aches for his situation, but she chooses not to get involved. Only offering her comfort when it's necessary, and sometimes even a piece of advice for him. She's fond of him, but lately his uptight nature has made him the punchline of many of her teasing remarks.

Toho Elisabeth 2022: Der Tod Comparision Analysis
After years of being a fan, I finally had the opportunity to see Elisabeth live for the first time this autumn. Me and a friend managed to defeat the odds and nab tickets for not just one but two dates, each with a different Der Tod (It's customary for most Toho musicals to have double, triple, or sometimes quadruple casts of its principal characters in their musicals). It was such a fantastic opportunity to see different actors' interpretations of such an iconic character, and seeing as the last Toho-beth was not filmed and previous recordings have not included every cast member, I thought I'd write up a report here for those curious!
Both Tods, Furukawa Yuta (Silver Tod) and Yamazaki Ikusaburo (Purple Tod) brought new and interesting things to the character that I’m really excited to discuss!

Here we go!
What is Toho-beth?
Toho is a big musical theatre company in Japan who are best known for bringing Broadway, Westend, and other foreign musicals to the country. They have been performing Elisabeth for 22 years now! Their production came off the back of the popularity the musical had with Japanese audiences thanks to the Takarazuka version which was first staged in 1996. The show is directed and translated by Koike Shuuichiro, the same writer and director for the Takarazuka version, but with many changes. The Toho production is praised by fans as striking the right balance between the gothic romance of the Takarazuka version, and the darkness and serious themes of the original Vienna production, whilst still managing to keep Elisabeth the main character of her story.
Disclaimers before we begin:
I have not watched every Elisabeth so my knowledge of previous versions is: Takarazuka: 1996, 2014 and 2018, Toho: 2016, Vienna: 1992 and 2006.
Each of the days I saw Der Tod was starring alongside Manaki Reika as Elisabeth, I do not know how their performances differed if at all when they costarred with Hanafusa Mari
This production had stage kisses instead of real kisses which may have influenced the actor's portrayal of the famous Rudolf x Der Tod kiss scene. I think this must have been a covid related choice, however, it's hard to tell as other Toho productions I've seen recently have had real kisses and Der Tod still walks through the audience in act one… But Lucheni does not walk into the audience or interact with them during Kitsch, so make of that what you will, I guess we won't know for sure till future productions!
Day 1: Furukawa Yuta as Der Tod
My first performance was with Furukawa Yuta. Furukawa's Tod is the most soft, gentle, human Tod I've ever seen. I wasn't sure what to think at first of his portrayal as its so different from other versions, but as the show went on I really became captured by his performance. I left the theatre with so many thoughts, trying to analyze the motivations and psyche of his character, it really made me think about Der Tod in a new way, and just made me more obsessed with the show. I'll try and put my thoughts into words here.
From his gentleness, its very clear that Furukawa plays him as genuinely in love with Elisabeth, however this does not mean that his Tod is not without his dark sides. I think what makes his Tod so good is he lulls you into a false sense of security. He speaks to Elisabeth as a pleading lover and baby Rudolf as a caring adult, but every now and again a flash darkness or anger will appear, reminding you that underneath his human appearance is Death himself.
Furukawa Tod and Elisabeth
His love for Elisabeth is perhaps the first time I've fully understood their relationship. Despite being a big Takarazuka fan I've always found the ending very jarring, as one scene ago Elisabeth says she doesn't love Tod and then suddenly she's running into his arms at the end and singing about their love for each other. Even in previous Toho and the Vienna versions despite the lyrics for the song being different, I've still found it a strange ending, but Furukawa and Manaki did it incredibly. I think as Furukawa's Tod is more gentle, already it is easier to understand why Elisabeth is drawn to him. Elisabeth is seeking independence and comfort, so why would she fall for a Der Tod who is literally pushing her around? When Furukawa comes to her it is always like an infatuated man hoping for his love to be returned, but because he is Death he doesn't know how to express his feelings, and things become muddled for him. I got the impression that he wanted to give Elisabeth his love but sadly he couldn't help who he was, and that part of him that is Death manifested itself still in his actions. Like creating chaos amongst the people, and killing baby Sophie and Rudolph. My favourite scene between the two of them was the doctor scene in Act 2. When Elisabeth says she wants to die, Furukawa says the line “おお、エリザベート、待っていた!” “Oh, Elisabeth! I’ve been waiting (to hear those words/for this moment)!” he says it with such happiness and almost child-like excitement it’s both creepy and sweet at the same time. His happiness in dark contrast to the reality of what he will do to her. Also, this is the first scene where we have Tod do more than just hold Elisabeth in his arms, as he runs his hands up and down her body, a very bold move for Furukawa Tod who until this moment has been relatively reserved around Elisabeth. This really added to the unsettling feeling of the scene, Tod is so carried away in this moment, running about the stage excited to take his bride back to the underworld, all the while Elisabeth is just stood there rigid in shock. Such an interesting moment in the show. I really liked how Tod’s emotions toward Elisabeth felt very consistent throughout the show, it was refreshing to see such a genuine feeling of love from Death towards Elisabeth, even if he did not act on his love in the right ways. The song before Elisabeth’s death again really gave us this message. When Franz Joseph says that Elisabeth is his, I feel that usually, Tod's reply that no, it's in fact him that she loves, is very confident, he knows he has the upper hand over Franz, but Furukawa sings it like a human cry, like he's trying to convince himself. There's this uncertainty in his mind but he is willing it to be true. When he and Elisabeth are together finally it is not a big romantic gesture, it's a very small moment and he gently kisses her and sets her onto the coffin and looks on sadly. He finally got her, but only for the briefest moment.
Furukawa Tod and Rudolf
The Rudolf arc has always been my favourite part of Elisabeth, so I was excited to see how it was performed in this version. This was definitely the part where I fully got on board with Furukawa's Tod and started theorising in my head about what his interpretations meant. As said above, Furukawa Tod talks to baby Rudolf like a caring adult, there isn't the usual sinister undertones that you feel with most other Tods in this scene. Furukawa stretches out on the stairs, propping his head up with his arm, and listens intently to Rudolf when no one else does. A part that I found particularly interesting is how when Tod takes the gun from baby Rudolf and Rudolf faces away from him, standing at the front of the stage looking at the audience, Tod looks on at him, with his arm outstretched, gun laid on his palm as an offering. This is in stark contrast to Shirota and Yoshio in the 2016 version who both pointed the gun at him as if about to shoot him.(something else I just wanna mention is his hilarious reaction to the "I killed the cat" line, Furukawa first raises his eyebrows in shock, then narrows them in confusion and then smiles and nods like a proud dad, brilliant) When we get to “yami ga hirogaru/Fie schatten werden langer”, and the famous kiss scene, it's a very interesting moment. Usually, at least in the takarazuka and Vienna versions i've seen, the kiss is a very aggressive and/or possessive move from Tod. In the 2016 Toho version, it is Rudolf that kisses Tod after Tod gives him the gun. This time Tod kisses Rudolf, but it is, like everything Furukawa does, a gentle kiss. As said in the disclaimer stage kisses are used this time so perhaps that contributed to this direction, but what makes it even more striking is that after he kisses him, he slowly steps back and watches on with a sad, almost regretful look on his face as Rudolf turns to the audience and slowly raises the gun to his head. A moment that is usually interpreted by previous Tods as a victory moment, is painted as one tinged with sorrow by Furukawa. As I said before I get this impression that his Tod is fighting with his duty as Death and this human emotion he's feeling for Elisabeth. And this scene really made me think that. Perhaps he came to care for Rudolph too, but he befriended him for a reason and now he has to see it through. Or maybe in this version Tod isn't even doing these things to get Elisabeth, perhaps Rudolph's death was always his fate and Tod is just doing his duty.
It’s questions like these that really made me fall in love with his Tod. Well done Furukawa!
Day 2: Yamazaki Ikusaburo Der Tod
2 weeks later I was back in the theatre for Yamazaki Tod! Ever since Yamazaki got cast as Der Tod back in 2020 I have been so intrigued as to how he would play him. I consider his Lucheni as my favourite out of all the ones I’ve seen so I was wondering if his Der Tod could live up to his Lucheni... AND IT DID!
Yamazaki put David Bowie back into Der Tod, he had so much command over the stage, strutted around like a rock star and went full commitment to the glam rock androgynous style. The long purple hair, eyeliner, and amazing costumes (black mesh billowy shirt HELLO???!!!!) a bi-icon. I think whilst Furukawa made a completely new version of Der Tod I feel that Yamazaki took us back to the origins of role but added in the Japanese influence. My first impression was a man playing Der Tod like a Takarazuka actress, but as it went on a realised that wasn't quite it. If I was to compare him to any other Tod I’d probably mention Kim Junsu from the Korean production, whilst I haven’t the full show, from the few clips of it I’ve seen I instantly thought “this is the KPOP der Tod”, I feel like Yamazaki did a similar thing, but instead of KPOP it was JRock. He was really reminding me of Visual Kei Rock bands like The Gazzette and SID with his performance. His vocals were out of this world, merging visual-kei sound with undertones of musical theatre training creating this ethereal and at times sinister sound. I think this was so cool to see as originally Der Tod was inspired by David Bowie and Glam Rock which Japanese Visual Kei music was inspired by. This influence has been absent from the Toho and Takarazuka versions with more of a focus on the fantastical elements so it was nice to see that added back in. I must say when watching the show before I had found Furukawa and Kuroba Mario's pop/rock style high notes endearing (affectionate), like they were trying but couldn't quite get there, so it really was amazing hearing Yamazaki sing them like a true rock star would. In terms of acting, his take on the role is a lot more classical, in that this is definitely a Tod that loves chaos, someone who takes pleasure in toying with people's lives.
Yamazaki Tod and Elisabeth
Unfortunately, Yamazaki’s Tod does fall back into my problem with Tod’s I’d seen before, where at the end of the show I was left thinking “yeah but why is Elisabeth with him?”. Yamazaki’s Tod is definitely more obsessed with her on a surface level rather than being in love with her. His take on Tod is much darker in comparison to Furukawa’s, he has much more of an eerie presence and quite vacant expressions that make you wonder what he is thinking. Whilst Furukawa's darkness is hidden by his gentle exterior, Yamazaki’s is all there for you to see. He is very in control of his movements, everything feels very precise, whilst Shirota gave us an in-human Der Tod by playing him with animal-like gestures to make him seem almost like some kind of "creature", Yamazaki achieves this in-human Der Tod by being completely devoid of feeling. There was just something incredibly unnerving about him like you could tell something was not quite right behind the eyes. I think this feeling is best described by this Twitter user who did these beautiful Der Tod illustrated head cannons saying “I feel like he sleeps upright in a coffin…I’m not sure if he actually sleeps though”.
A moment I particularly liked was when he appears to Elisabeth in her chambers and pops up from behind her chair. Whilst most Tods seem to play this as a quick jump scare before stepping out from the shadows straight after, Yamazaki just stays there, arms draped over the top of the chair like “oh you poor thing”. It reminded me of a cat toying with its pray. I think that moment sums his Tod up very well. 
To compare his Tod to the moments I liked from Furukawa, the doctor scene also feels very different, Yamazaki’s Tod feels very confident, he isn’t running around the stage with glee, and he surprisingly isn’t as heavy handed as Furukawa was. Though he stilll runs his hands over Elisabeth it’s a much more subtle moment, perhaps in his eyes, he’s had her from the start so doesn’t feel like he needs to act so desperately.
The song with Franz Joseph is again more classic Tod, he sounds very confident that he has her. I don’t have any analytical things to say about this scene but I think it's worth mentioning that he licks the knife before giving it to Lucheni, make of that what you will...
Yamazaki Tod and Rudolf
So after seeing Furukawa’s interpretation I was so intrigued to find out if this was unique to Furukawa or if it was a new direction the Toho production was taking Der Tod's character, and I'm excited to say, both actors had completely different interpretations! So let's start with baby Rudolf. Yamazaki sits beside Rudolf and intently listens to his story, the “I killed a cat” moment did not get any laughs from the audience this time as Yamazaki played it completely straight, continuing to listen, nodding along as if it's the most normal thing in the world to hear from a young boy. When Rudolf goes to and faces the audience, from behind him Yamazaki Tod puts the gun to his own head whilst watching Rudolph. His Tod is not subtle with where this story is going. The kiss scene was gentle like Furukawas but it felt much more sinister and instead of looking sad and watching him kill himself like Furukawa did, Yamazaki is cold and unfeeling, he turns his back on Rudolph and leaves him to kill himself, alone in his final moments. I re-watched the same scene in the 2016 production to see how it compared and it was very interesting to see that whilst both Yoshio and Shirota turned their back to Rudolf too, they were still stood beside him. Yamazaki turns his back and walks up centre stage and pauses with his black angles flanking him in 2 lines on either side as Rudolf slowly realises what he's about to do and shoots himself. I can't remember what the black angels did with Furukawa but it was definitely different as Furukawa chose to stay beside Rudolf in that scene. It's so fascinating to me how these interpretations weren't just individually chosen by the actor but were actually worked on to involve the ensemble cast as well, creating differently choreographed scenes depending on which cast you saw. Any similarities between them? I think I would have to see the show again to notice more similarities, but sadly that won't be happening unless we get a recording (please Toho we are BEGGING YOU) but the one thing that did stick out to me was they both do this same gesture. I don't know how to describe it. They do this thing where, -again I wish I could see the show again so I could work out if there's a pattern of when they do this gesture- they like take their hand and starting from wrist at their lips run their hand down, fingers caressing their lips, and they kind of have this fascinated/spark in their eyes? I have no idea if that makes any sense...actually that artist I mentioned earlier, drew it on Furukawa here. It's quite a creepy in-human gesture, I like to think maybe he's feeding on human emotions when he does it...Whatever it was I find it so intriguing that that's the one link between them. I'd also really like to know if either of them were inspired by any particular Takarazuka actresses. Yamazaki has a scar-like tattoo on his hand that makes me think of Mizu Tod and Furukawa's whole look with the wig and costumes and even some of his acting choices reminded me a lot of Asumi Tod at times.
Closing thoughts It’s so hard to know who was my favourite as they both had such completely different interpretations, it felt like I was watching two completely different characters. I think for me personally what one lacked the other made up for. For example, as a long-time fan going to see Elisabeth live for the first time Furukawa took me a while to get on board with as his human portrayal meant that he didn’t have the big bombastic stage presence that you expect from Der Tod (his singing is gorgeous by the way, I mean this more in the nature of his character choices mean his performance is overall much more subtle), so going back and seeing Yamazaki gave me that big showman performance that I had been wanting to see. However, Yamazaki didn’t give me the full satisfying gothic romance feelings that I've always felt missing from Elisabeth that Furukawa managed to really pull off. And his new interpretation left me with my mind buzzing. What they both did though was prove that there is still so much to explore with this character and this show and I love how Toho is still letting Der Tod be an androgynous fantastical being when it seems the Vienna productions have been trying to pull away from that in their recent productions. I really hope this production gets filmed so that everyone can see the talents of not just these men but the entire cast, seeing this show was a dream come true and I know it will give everyone so many new thoughts and theories about this wonderful musical!

What are your favourite ifs/WiPs?
So this got out of hand. And then my internet crashed and my Tumblr crashed and I had to rewrite this all… I might have missed something and I could rec more, but I need to keep this readable length.
The first one I ever read: Zombie Exodus: Safe Heaven. This was before I followed any creators on the forums/Tumblr. Liked it and played multiple times the first few chapters but I have not kept up with it. Of the published I’ve read or started a lot of them but nowadays WIPs are flying high above most of them in terms of quality. My taste has also evolved, you could say.
The big, long, angsty ones:
A Mage Reborn by @mage-parivir
Long, good story in high fantasy world with anime influenced vibes. Good RO choices and other NPCs. Some stat balancing and actually reading stuff to get the results I wanted required, which is why I needed to start it a few times before I got over my hang-ups and got really into it.
Shepherds of Haven by @shepherds-of-haven
Epic high fantasy story in a deep and thoroughly thought-out world. LOTS of Ros (Trouble is my <3) and NPCs. Also involves keeping track of your stats and thinking before choices. Long one. I mean, really long. In tone, to me, a bit darker than A Mage Reborn even with the BBQ. I have at times wondered how well this could turn into an video game.
I, the Forgotten one by Bacondoneright (the work is on Dashingdon but has no Tumblr)
No magic but an eastern European inspired world. This might not be for everyone as it deals heavily with wartimes in ‘realistic’ medieval world. Involving homophobia, misogyny and lots of death and adult themes. I played a male MC to skip some of that. Lots of stat balancing and following, hard choices and angst. So much angst. You will have to be in a certain mood and have hours of time to read through it but if this sounds something that you’d like to try I encourage it. The writing and plot are really good and the overall quality is better than most. But it’s a hard read.

Modern superhero world where you play a nobody in a family of somebodies. Good mystery, lots of angst and awesome ROs and NPCs. (Grayson has my <3) Not so stat heavy than the others. To my knowledge is close to being finished and I can’t wait to throw money at it.

All the angst. Oh my god the angst. A fantasy world with ‘monster hybrid’ people and you’re exiled and suffering and nothing is going to be good again. The last update left me infuriated. If it would be badly written I could stop reading it and be happy again but no. Have to keep going back. 10/10 would recommend.
The Northern Passage by @northern-passage
Even if I’ve never played or watched the show this has Witcher vibes. I’m sure I will die or kill someone accidentally or something else horrible. Lea is what keeps me going back. The asshole. Love it.
The shorter, angsty ones:
Ouroboros by @honeypeabrain
Plants. Lots of plants in a fantasy, slightly apocalyptic world. The world is really intriguing and the plot pulled me in at the start. Loved especially the option to customize one of the possible Ros. Can’t wait for where the story goes and the RO routes that have been teased. (I have not made up my minds who I like the most)
Ripper’s Plague by @ripperplague
One I have recommended before. Steampunk world where you are a ‘mad’ doctor with past full of trauma. The humour is fun and the story is turning up to be intriguing, even though not all the major players have been introduced yet. Love the way everyone just casually hits on the MC. It’s hilarious.
The not so angsty ones:
College Tennis: Origin Story by @allieebobo
Play tennis, go to college, annoy, and charm everyone while succeeding at everything. Or that’s how I play it. Gets really into the actual games and tennis but everything is written by a person who clearly knows what they are doing so it’s all good. Recommend it even if you’re not into tennis. Living like a jock is fun.
Anything written by @leftski-if
Lots of monster romances (werewolves, vampires, orcs etc.) Light hearted stories in more serious worlds. For more mature readers, not because of NSFW but of tone that’s written with more mature readers in mind. (at least to me) You want a good, hard hug from a RO that’s three times your size? These have it.
The adventures of Sherlock Holmes- An affair of the heart by @doriana-gray-games
It’s Sherlock Holmes but make it actually gay (if you want to). The writing equals the originals by sucking the reader in. There’s murders and mysteries and maybe the tone is not especially light but to me Sherlock Holmes and the stories are comfort read and so is this. Can’t wait to meet H of the ROs, but in the mean time Lestrade is and awkward duck who gives me sandwiches.
 Defiled Hearts: The Barbarian by @defiledheartsblog
Look. Listen. Does the story start with your family being murdered and you being sneaky and enlisting to the Roman army? Yes. Do I still consider this more light-hearted one because I’m having too much fun being pain in Marcus’ backside? Yes. I really need to restart another save and be less confrontational and before I get myself murdered at some point when I’m caught. The writer knows a lot of Roman times, and the Picts while taking liberties to introduce inclusivity and fantasy elements.
Ifs with really short demo so I haven’t really got into them yet because of that but the premise sounds awesome:

Modern werewolf story. Awesome writing and lovable characters. Is to my knowledge finished if you don’t count editing, rewrites etc. Have played it about but not the last few updates. Another one I’ll try again when I find my spoons somewhere.
There are lots more that I follow or read but these came to mind. I also acknowledge that I have a problem with remembering names and have a bad habit of skipping paragraphs while reading, so I tend to forget especially shorter ones. I have not included ones without demos because I have gotten my heart broken a few times when the creators disappeared after posting awesome premises but no demos.

hi- (warning: long post/rant, tldr at the bottom)
i've being thinking about (grieving over) rise lately with my friends and like- i am so mad bc we got all of season 1
then season 2 was cut in HALF, forcing the team to do their thing and complete the WHOLE SERIES in FOUR EPISODES and they only had FOUR MONTHS to do it (which they did and its absolutely amazing)
then we got the movie in Aug 2022, which is probably the last Rise we'll get, what with the Mutant Mayhem movie coming out this year. 
the real reason im mad is bc the creators of the show had planned for the show to be like 5-7 seasons, like PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER TMNT SHOW, and it only got 1.5 seasons, even though it may be better than other versions: the TEN SEASON TOY COMMERCIAL that was the 1980s cartoon, and all the different archs and seasons that 2003 got, which confuse me to this day being two examples of this, and so bc of the longer nature the show was intended to have, there are storyboards, deleted scenes, and rough animations out there that will never be completed by the actual team (shout out to all the AMAZING artists and animators recreating deleted scenes and revamping rough sketches and storyboards, as well as the rise season 3 fan project, ilysm thank you for doing the lords work)
the quality of the show, from the animation, to the voice acting, to the overall plot, to the comedy, to its ability to be darker or more serious when it needed to, to its amazing representation, not only in its casting but also its coding, was beyond SSS tier.
it was beautiful, and im so sad we wont get that ever again, not in the same way we did.
i dont wanna give up hope, there have been shows that were cancelled that came back, but mostly i just feel for the staff and cast, who you could tell really truly loved this show. they loved working on it, and they loved sharing it with us, i am so grateful for what we were given, but so mad that these people were forced to move on from something they loved.
TLDR; i love rise, its staff deserved better, amazing show, im sorry for the essay

NECROSPARK MY SLIGHTLY TRAUMATIZED BABIES!
telling me to go wild about Necrospark is like letting all the rats out of a cage,WHICH IS a GOOD THING. Warning, this might be long.
Where do I even begin with those two-?
So, Necromancer and Scatterspark, Or Necrospark, is a Ship of Two of My Transformers,Specifically Cyberverse,OCs, I call it Necrospark to make it easier.
Necromancer Uses He/They Pronouns, he has one red eye and one blue eye, which he is a little self conscious about, he used to cover the Blue One, but when the war ignited, he started to cover the red one, and leave the blue one uncovered. His main colors in his frame are shades of Blue, except for his One Red Eye and one Biolight Thighs(Garter belt looking thing) that is present on most Cyberverse characters.
Scatterspark is actually Necromancer's Ex-Wife. He was married to her, but let's just say Necromancer had his "Say No To This."" Moment and Scatterspark had her "Burn" Moment. But they did get back together later. They just never remarried.
Oh!Important. Detail about both of them. They are Knights of the Primes Like Thunderhowl. Actually,Necromancer is Thunderhowl's cousin. He's the Knight of Maccadam/Alchemist Prime.
Hey. If Ratchet can have a niece, I think Thunderhowl can have a cousin.
I know, technically, for Scatterspark,Dame is the Correct Term, But Eh. Dame of the Primes doesn't roll off the tongue as well.
Necromancer is Basically as a Character:Alexander Hamilton From Hamilton, Plus Spinel from Steven Universe,Plus Glados from Portal, Plus JD from Heathers.
Oh, yeah, and Necromancer loses his mother figure very early in his life.
Scatterspark uses She/Her Pronouns, but is Pansexual. Her design is mostly pink, as she is inspired Lot by Katherine Howard from Six and Katherine Howard, historically, too. But the pink and the high ponytail were taken from the Six:The Musical Version of her.
Like i said, she was inspired a Lot By Katherine Howard. She was a victim of Grooming/Pedophilia, and she didn't really fall in love with any men after that for a long time. Then she let Necromancer into her heart, and she fell in love with him. Don't worry, Necromancer and her are the same Age. They are perfectly legal. But even there, it took her a lot of time to let Necromancer even be somewhat affectionate with her. And he, being the sweetheart he is, let her take her time.
BTW I'm trying not to cry happy tears writing this,THEY ARE TOO CUTE SOMETIMES.
Now, this is where it gets interesting.
Like I said, Necromancer has a Say No To This Moment. He cheats on Scatterspark with a microwave throwing Oc of Mine by the Name of Nitroquake. Scatterspark has her Burn Moment. They divorce. But they get back together after Necromancer comes back from being shot by Praxis.YES, THAT praxis, WHO IVE TALKED ABOUT. He ain't what he seems.
Anyway, he comes back, and they get back together, and they stay together for a long time, up until early in the war.
And then Alpha Trion,Scatterspark's Liege Prime, asks her to infiltrate the Decepticons, pretend she's one of them,etc,etc. So she does that and reports back to Orion Pax frequently while doing that.
Well, Long Story Short, Megs, finds out about it, and chops her head clean off (in an alleyway) with a blade when she's distracted, I mean, Points for Deception, I guess.
Anyway,Necromancer finds her body and brings her back to life, and tells her to change her color scheme and they are going back to Caminus, which is their Home Planet. So she changes it to blue.
And they Live Pretty Happily After That.

Twilight told them she wasn’t ready to take Celestia’s place
I’m about to start crying about Twilight taking over Celestia’s role again. At the beginning of the show Celestia tells Luna “We were meant to rule together” or something very close to that. Celestia implies many many times that she was miserable ruling alone, but when it came time for her to pick her replacement? She chooses Twilight, that kid she raised with the Tree of Harmony cutie mark that spent too much time with her to make friends until she was old enough to live alone, and away from Canterlot. 
Twilight was never even properly prepared to take on her role as an Element of Harmony, and even less so for her role as the leader of a whole country. The Elements are the most important thing for Equestria’s safety and yet Twilight wasn’t even actually friends with anyone until she got to Ponyville and was forced to. Imagine if the other elements were held back like she was, or even one of them. We already know what happens without thier cutie mark bond. 
“Twilight had friends before Ponyville, what about Moondancer and Lyra and the others” By the time she learns enough about friendship to even half care about them she doesn’t remember their names. Those weren’t friends, at least not in Twilight’s eyes. It shouldn’t have taken the fate of Equestria resting in her hooves for her to make friends. Celestia knew Twilight was destine to become an Element from the start. She should have been encouraging friendships the whole time Twilight was growing up.
And then we get to Twilight taking over for Luna and Celestia. Sure, she has her Friendship School now, but running a school is nothing like running a country. She doesn’t even want the role. She tells everyone that she isn’t ready, and not even her friends listen to her. “Twilight is Twilighting.” This isn’t a friendship mission, this could be world changing, and yet her concerns aren’t taking seriously. She’s pressured from everyone to agree. No one is actually there by her side. Sure, her and the others are still friends to tie things up in a neat little bow, but she’s still ruling alone. She was ruling alone the second her friends decided to side with Celestia. 
And she wasn’t ready. If she was we wouldn’t have the Gen 5 movie, regardless of your theory of what happened. 
(Trying to not rewatch the whole show again so deal with probably not fully correct quotes, and I’m sorry if things are spelled wrong my brain has been very noisy today)

AUGH ITS BEEN SO LONG SINCE A SAM HAS BEEN SILLY TIMED!! But your most recent Prophet and Sammy piece reminded me- how does Prophet feel about being called out to handle the situations Sammy can’t? Does Sammy force him out or does the Prophet kinda understand what’s going on and automatically take over? I just have So Many Emotions about Prophet and I love me some good angst flavored soup to rev up the headcanon brain
Oh man, Prophet’s perspective can be a lil tricky to describe; let me go on a bit of a tangent –
Imagine you’re living your life and then SUDDENLY REMEMBER that you have a job, that it actually matters a LOT to you on a personal level, that it has kind of a deadline and you haven’t been going in to work at ALL. You scramble to take care of as much as you can, but you start to realise that in a short amount of time, you’ll forget about your job again, until something happens to jog your memory. This goes back and forth a few times, until eventually, while your memories are gone, you write a letter to… yourself, trying to understand why you keep running off and doing these incomprehensible things as if you have a job??? And then, you find something that’s jogged your memory before, and you jog your own memory. Once you have all your memories again, you realise written reminders are a great idea, so you start leaving yourself notes for after the amnesia kicks in. You have a job!! Don’t forget your job!!! But the frustrating thing you discover is that while your memory is lapsed, not only do you forget your job, you can’t even seem to get it through your own head that it’s important. Your amnesiac self has a completely different set of priorities to you and doesn’t want to do the job. Your amnesiac self CAN’T remember. Your amnesiac self starts to treat you like a different person, the one who can remember. When you jog your own memories, you aren’t trying to remember – in that altered mindset, your amnesiac self is trying to wake you up, the person with the memories, and hand tasks off to you because they don’t know how to do them. And with your amnesiac self having this unbreakable barrier to remembering, it… DOES feel like they’re a separate person, honestly, like you’re just remembering this other person’s memories as they make choices you don’t want to make. But, if you can figure out how to get them to remember your job, and how important it is, then that wall between your memories would dissolve, then you could finally function normally again.
This has been the Prophet’s experience. Until Sammy started really pushing the idea that they’re separate people, he didn’t even parse it as being called out to handle things because, in the Prophet’s perception, he’s still the same person, just with all his memories and faculties now intact. Even when he started to see “The Shepherd” as a separate person with very different emotional responses, that person was still a part of himself – a fear in part of his mind that’s keeping him split in two.
More recently, they started switching briefly every time Sammy’s mental stability took a serious hit, which the Prophet has described to the others as a moment when “the Shepherd steps back,” and seems to understand that he’s being reached out to because the Shepherd can’t deal with something. So far, he's willingly stepping forward, and he WANTS to be able to step in and make sure his Lord's will is followed. In Prophet’s eyes, this is GREAT, ACTUALLY – he's encouraged to have that kind of trust from the Shepherd, because eventually he wants the Shepherd to be willing to try to remember his encounter with the Masked Messenger, so they can be one person again. He sees it as the first baby step towards the Shepherd learning to overcome his fear and trust the Masked Messenger again.
Which isn’t to say it’s not hard on him, but the thing is that most of Prophet’s misgivings and fears are buried under a lot of layers and displacement.  Like, being dragged by the Lurker into the Starpools to drown was a terrifying, traumatic experience that still haunts him, but it’s Joey he blames for killing him by bringing him unwittingly into dangerous territory. In spite of being so messed up over what happened to him that he’s STILL mad at Joey about it, the Prophet refers to the Starpools as his Home, believes he was granted a great gift and that he should be grateful to the Lurker for giving him the chance to receive it – beliefs which are so at odds that they should be really difficult to hold simultaneously. The Prophet has briefly admitted that receiving his visions is physically and mentally harrowing (“We hold our Lord's glory in this fragile body 'til it trembles, to snatch a fragment of a warning, a vision”), and he is not really receiving a specific vision so much as being subjected to an overwhelming flood of insight and struggling to grasp pieces of meaning out of the torrent – but he refuses to fear the visions, the one (terrifying) contact he has with his Lord, and instead gleefully thanks the Messenger for honouring him in this way and only resents when others complain that the visions are vague and that the Prophet should’ve calmly written them on paper. And when the Prophet fails at a task he’s been called to – tasks he is tremendously, comically ill-suited for – he can’t insist it was too hard; he can’t even blame the others, because he was supposed to be able to overcome them. Failure reflects ultimately only on him, in the face of a deity whom he believes has shown him unjustified grace.
Prophet is happy to take over for the Shepherd when he can, because he thinks he SHOULD be able to handle everything that this frightened piece of him can’t. After all, he has to make up for the Shepherd’s doubt. If he can be strong enough, and never fail his Lord again, maybe he can drag them both to salvation on his own good graces.

I agree with Fright rider 100%
For Earth I'll pick Flashwing, because while she did get a Lightcore repose in Swapforce, she and Rider are still both the only two Giants characters without wow-pows.
And for Tech... I think I'd pick Wind-up. He's really really cool as a second Swapforce character.
I'd actually pick quite a few reposes for Trap team... But the game is already pretty gimmicky in terms of spending. I'd have to draw out my poster layouts to explain it. I like adding onto what's already canon rather than replacing things (with one exception)

The Amusing Novelty Of Photography - Chapter 2: Rush of Rain
Dot found herself moving before she could think her plan through. She pulled herself up and dashed upwards on what felt similar to the steepest hill she had ever hiked up! Her Ion blaster dangled and swung wildly at her side until she took it into her hand and didn’t hesitate to warm it up. “Megatron,” It was scorching, even the mist below that formed between their firepower seemed to slowly turn into a sauna between two hot-blooded machines. “I need you to trust me and move to the left.” She could almost hear his audible “What?” echo from below in her earpiece. Her brown eyes shimmered in the direct beam of the sun as she watched Starscream’s signature null ray attempt to outshine their own planet’s star above before she took a shot at Soundwave’s head. “Just trust me.” There was no moment of hesitation in those harsh few seconds as the smoke of her overworked blaster was blown to the wayside as Megatron made a feign of attack before backing away. Before the null ray could even flash their way, Soundwave’s optics met her eyes. It was strange being seen by him, noticed to the point of looking between each other’s souls. She could see even with his visor there was nothing there but unbridled rage, hurt, and something so recognizably human, that it almost pained her to keep gazing into them. Wistfulness. Her finger clicked on the trigger and she silently wondered what he witnessed within her eyes. Did he also feel as if they had connected, or was he too blinded by his pain to see who and what she was. ‘Because I saw the living being that you are…’ Dot thought. ‘Dr. Meridian was wrong…’ The shot missed his head by mere seconds, and the null ray caused a huge explosion of water and electronics in the area to spring to life only to stop in a frozen state. Dot stood up, never looking away from the blue mech as Megatron looked back up into the sky, putting the dots together for the eventual assassination attempt. “Which means you can’t use your signature move.” It was a risky but smart plan if Megatron had been alone, nullifying them all on equal terms with a two-on-one. The failure of their plan rained upon them. The sound that was usually comforting was eerie around the anger-induced smoke that spilled from Soundwave’s vents. Despite that, he kept pushing his frame to make noise even if it rattled his frame painfully as he kept staring holes into her person. Megatron for once, did not exist in his peripheral vision. It was just Dot and Soundwave. Her hands shook as she watched him, no one seemed to know what to do. It all depended on how he reacted. Through rain and smoke, Soundwave lifted his right servo, his sharp digits pointed toward her and she could see the shine of Megatron’s bright red optics reflected in the metal of them. They were in the form of a gun. Skywarp teleported in shortly and that was when Megatron moved. The sound of jet engines blasting off in the distance was loud. Soundwave made a gesture of shooting her with that servo of his and before Megatron could properly shoot at them. They disappeared. The rain stopped. And all the soldiers' guns slowly fell to the wayside to cool off for the day. Okay, cool,

Me when there is something to the ritual of setting some old shit of fire. A way of saying this now lives in memory. A way of saying it's only a memory. There is something to the ritual of setting a torch to what is gone. The Vikings did it to honor a memory and now we do it to honor who I used to be. And when you showed her questions. The 36 questions she looked ahead and saw who she wanted to be. She made a past, made up a history, details that fit this person named Natalie. Let's say goodbye to Natalie, she was thirty-three, on her fake IDs... She was... Real to me... I don't expect, for you to understand perfectly. I loved her too, as much as you, and she wants you to bury her with me... Okay. Okay, what? Give me the match... There is something to the ritual of setting fire to the lie. 'She's my twin.' Ever since before they left the womb, Daemon and Aurora have been built-in companions. Though, one inner thought deals with just that—their parents. The firm belief held by his sibling, that their long-lost parents might still be alive stirs so many feelings of anger within him. He can't fathom holding onto such hope, knowing that they had abandoned them to rot in the forest. The years and years of her anticipation makes him resent her optimism. 'Why does she persist in bowing before gods who turn a blind eye to our struggles?'
The cleric's faith in Lathander aggravates him in ways he struggles to articulate. The god, a large part of their upbringing, is something he has grown to be indifferent about. Always questioning the ways of any of the Gods, he does not understand how she puts so much trust into something everyday. He sees it as a waste. He feels that her prayers and pleas to the Morning Lord could be put use toward something useful.
'These white flowers smell like her.' The scent of incense and gardenias will forever remind him of her, which often helps when he feels the darkness seeping into his soul. Despite their ups and their downs, his twin's positive traits—compassion, warmth, and optimism—remain constants that anchor him, even when he tries to push them away every chance he gets. And he will never admit it willingly. 'On such a numbingly quiet night like this, I wish Aurora was here to play something.'
Daemon is all too aware of his sister's more gullible and self-sacrificing tendencies, yet, he somehow respects her belief in redemption, friendship, and destiny. Her hobbies, like painting and playing the lyre are some of his favorites aspects he's protective of, and has always looked to for comfort on the hardest of days.
'I can't stand her boyfriend.'
The relationship between Aurora and Astarion adds a whole other layer to his thoughts. While his protective instincts might make him wary of anyone getting close to his sister, he observes their connection with a cautious acceptance. He knows his sister well enough to know that her determination is strong. Astarion's presence brings constant tension between the three because the fallen aasimar is convinced he will leave her just as their parents had once he's free.
'I know she can feel me slipping away.'
Aurora remains a guiding light, a piece of his past and present that he can't fully escape, no matter how much the darkness threatens to consume him. She may very well be the only light that can save him. Despite it all, Daemon will always be fiercely protective of his twin, even if he struggles to understand her choices.

- peter plays games like online solitaire, chess, sudoku.
- he goes on wikipedia, hits random and reads whatever articles pop up. he can sit there reading for hours.
- his comfort movie is legally blonde.
- he has a memorial tattoo for gwen.
ash
- this is more of a crack headcanon turned beloved, but i love the thought of him being an estranged member of the addams family. or morticia's family the frumps. i think in this one ash's mom was a frump.
wade
- wade loves parties. going to them, throwing them, it doesn't matter.
- wade loves pop music. britney spears, abba. he also loves charlie's angels.
(wade is britney coded and ash is lana coded. which are really funny energies to put together lol)

this is a scene from these hungry streets i haven't really had time to write yet, but it's peter/ash with hints of their sun/moon imagery.
peter sits up on the edge of a building, tired and discouraged. he's been swinging around for what feels like forever in the hopes of finding ash walking around in the early hours like before.
in his absorption with his thoughts, he almost misses her. but williams luck cancels out parker luck and he sees ash walking down the sidewalk below, dressed in a white wedding dress and veil, long legs eating up the pavement in graceful strides despite the high heels she's wearing.
she stops under a streetlamp to fish a cigarette and a lighter out of her garter pocket, lights up, and takes a drag, her face tilted up, eyes closed. peter's throat dries. she's so fucking beautiful. like some horrible angel made in a lab specifically to torment him.
peter's climbing down before he even realizes he's moved, jumping to the top of the streetlamp and gliding down it from a web upside down. ash hasn't seen him yet.
"what's a girl like you doing in a place like this?" ash immediately whirls around and punches him with her metal hand, quick as lightning, but peter's faster and catches her hand. "hey hey, it's just me, angel."
ash frowns, brows drawn together in anger.
"don't fucking scare me like that, you asshole," ash says. "what the hell are you doing here, anyway?"
"i was looking for you," replies peter, jumping down from the web strand. he moves closer to ash, hoping she isn't going to sock him again. ash just looks at him with those big dark eyes, made even bigger with the liner and mascara. her makeup glitters in the light, shimmering every time she moves, making her face look luminous. peter is entranced.
"why?"
"because i wanted to see you." it comes out more earnest than he'd meant, and peter cringes inwardly. might as well go for broke. "and to beg you to take me back."
"peter..."
"no wait, just listen to me," peter reaches for ash, pulling her closer. ash goes, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. peter almost gives in to the weak feeling inside him that wants to just sink into her, but fights it back so he can say his piece. "i love you, and i'm sorry--"
"peter, i love you too." peter's heart skips a beat. "but you have severe emotional problems and you need help." peter pulls back to look at her incredulously. ash rolls her eyes. "yeah i know. that's rich coming from miss mental illness america. but pete the way we're going isn't healthy. we almost ended up holding hands on the metaphorical train tracks."
"look, i'll give you anything, tell you whatever you wanna know, just don't disappear again."
"i can't promise that. but i'll try to leave a note if i do."
peter sighs in relief. "that's all i ask."
they stand there under the street light for a moment, embracing each other. ash pulls back with a tentative smile.
"do you wanna go to a party with me?" asks ash. peter's eyes widen in surprise at the sudden change in subject.
"a party?"
"yeah, that's where i was going when you scared the shit out of me. mystery inc. throws them every year."
peter gasps. "you know mystery inc.?"
"yeah, we help each other out sometimes." ash pulls out of peter's arms and tugs his hand in the direction he assumes the mystery gang's place is. "i didn't know you were a mystery inc. fan."
"i have all their books," replies peter, embarrassed. ash laughs.
