Pretty short theory/rant under cut

I also really love the idea that he’s been hanging out with the rock trolls since the brothers separated. It could even kinda make sense. His looks kinda remind me of something you could see a rock troll looking like, just mess up his hair a bit. Ofc he has wayy too bright colors to be a rock troll, but he was born as a pop troll. (I can just imagine how much he would stand out oml.) Not to mention, Prince D said in the second movie that trolls can enjoy more than just one type of music. He was also apparently kidnapped 2 months prior to the movie, and the second movie was just a week before the third, meaning Floyd had been missing for 1 month and 3 weeks by the time of the second movie. Someone would probably try to look for him, but after a while of no signs they could’ve just assumed him dead and given up. By the time of the movie the rock trolls wouldn’t even think to ask anyone of the other tribes about him, because he’d been missing for a while and because the whole rock-apocalypse was going on. Only reason i can see it not working is if the rock trolls were against any type of music the entire time and either would’ve just kicked him out or forced him to only play rock (which i don’t believe Floyd would be able to do). Really going into theory mode here: Floyd showing up could be what made Queen Barb find out about the other tribes and first get the idea of the world tour, but only starting to plan it after Floyd disappears and they fail to find him.

I would also love if this was true and every time Floyd plays rock music he gets aggressive and scares the sht out of his brothers lol.

I literally came up with the oc as i drew this, i just wanted some random guy for the pose and suddenly i had a character. He’s just someone that basically clung himself to Floyd immediately when he got to the village. Bro’s kind of a bully but he’s also a loser. (Just wanna say I’m not the type of person that ships ocs with canon, and i’m not doing it here) They end up having a sort of rivalry, as Floyd gets better at Rock and manages to mix it with his pop, he gets a bit popular. Meanwhile Brick has never really tried to gain an audience, but when Floyd gets followers and Brick was already challenging him, he ultimately gets some attention too. They sort of team up and become a duo, but they ensure that they’re still rivals. Inevitable though, they become friends, hang out a lot, sing and dance, like normal trolls. Brick teaches Floyd some specific things about rock and Floyd tells him about his tribe and brothers. Brick would be the devastated when Floyd got kidnapped and would be the last to stop searching. (Never stopped hoping he was alive though). Of course though, he is a rock troll and theres no way he would show how much he cares about Floyd.

QSMP ver next, i hadnt actually designed roier and aldo both so eitherone was a challenge, roier is a pomegranate and aldo from purgatory2 is rotten tomato (the controverial fruit that everyone thinks is a vegetable). i realise nwo i forgot to put actual crows, i like to think aldo if somehow surviving on egg island alone, he'd have a few other crows following him strangely all the time, definitely not the souls of his team no no no. he has rotten horns and tail to match his status as the "winning sinner" of purgatory, who had to be the sole survivor of the crows adn beating up his teammate against his own will to win. it kinda looks like chocolate so i might change it but ye. i might need to add green for Eherm radiation but i dgiress

no okay so imagine it’s driver reader, she’s in f2 but is also the hottest girl to ever exist. like im picturing madison beer/megan fox type hot. the other drivers have met her on occasion and all follow her and always talk ab how hot she is and how she’s their dream girl and they all act super tough thinking they’ll be able to score a date w her but it ofc never works for them lol. oscars so smug hearing them all talk ab how hot she is knowing she’s his and only his. and he’s the only one that makes her beg and cry for him to fuck her.

anyways yk how oscars always talking ab his gf irl, bringing her up in interviews and stuff. imagine it’s the same in this au- he’s always like “my girlfriend did this for me” or “my girlfriend took that pic” etc in interviews or challenges or whatever.

one day they’re at some event w all the f1 and f2 drivers and maybe some journalists are there and she’s all over oscar. and this bitchy journalist starts attacking her like “he has a girlfriend wtf is wrong with u” and basically calling her a slut and scoffing at her saying hot girls always think they’re entitled to everything when really everyone knows it’s coming from a place of jealousy instead of girl code and she just cocks her head like “who do you think his gf is?” And he just so dramatically goes “hey baby” and leans in to open mouth tongue kiss her in front of everyone and all of their jaws just drop when it clicks bc how the HELL did oscar manage to pull her?

her being kinda like a playboy?? she’s never publicly dated someone but flirts with everyone just to see them blush and stutter. anytime she’s asked about her relationship status, she tells them that she’s committed to racing and doesn’t have time for a relationship. i like to think she’d get reallly popular because she’s so pretty like as soon as she starts winning races and working her way up the ranks, everyone wants a piece of her. rumors about her dating her teammates and other drivers or random celebs who liked her posts pop up all the time and she’s always quick to shut them down.

love the idea of her being a bit of an influencer like her instagram game is on point, perfect matching theme that goes back years. and then suddenly theres a guy on her page and she’s in her soft launch era but she’s a menace so it’s like pictures of the hickeys on his chest while she straddles him. for like a year straight she’s posting raunchy photos of them with their faces cropped out while still being like "yea i don’t have a boyfriend!" but oscar is constantly talking about his girlfriend and how much he loves her. complete opposites.

so then when they're spotted with her hanging off him for days in a row at some weekend long event or a race weekend maybe, people are talking about it online wondering why he's letting her hang off him like that when he's got a girlfriend. people mad at her for trying to ruin his relationship. so many memes about his "girlfriend" seeing it on the tv and crying herself to sleep.

and then, cameras catch her kissing him and immediately it gets so much worse. twitter is trending with their names, everyone is wondering why the hot shot f2 driver is macking on the rookie mclaren driver on international tv when minutes before he was talking about how much he loves his girlfriend in an interview. someone has the balls to confront them but gets so embarrassed when he's like "not that it's any of your business, but this is my girlfriend." and they'd apologize but she's kinda nice for once and tells them they have nothing to apologize for bc literally no one knew! they'd probably do an interview to answer questions ab their secret relationship and she makes sm dirty jokes about him and how everyone is like. shocked by the things she says about him? and he just sits there smiling and blushing.

this is toxic and kinda ab cheating but i like to imagine her crushing on oscar and him having a girlfriend so she gets asked in an interview if she has any crushes or smth and she says him. the interviewer is like “aw well too bad he’s got a girlfriend!” and she just says “okay and? he can call me when they breakup, he has my number.” and it starts sm drama with everyone talking about how hot girls think they can do whatever they want and ruin relationships and blah blah blah. and then his relationship ends bc he doesn't see how it's a problem to just have her number saved in his phone. they'd have talked years before when they raced in the same leagues before he got bumped up faster, so she's just a stranger to him. but girlfriend ends up breaking things off because it becomes a running joke that the woman leading the f2 championship is just waiting for oscar piastri while every one else pines after her. even lando and logan are making jokes ab how ofc its him that she has a crush on, the one guy who has been in a relationship since school.

hey! i'm planning on writing a lol vampire au heavily inspired by castlevania and i want nilah as one of the protagonist monster hunters, but i have very little idea on how to write her. there are veeeery few good nilah fics (and i found only one that was nilah-centric) so i dont have much fan material to base myself on.

i find nilah really hard to write because we don't know a lot about her prior to ashlesh and writing a character that only feels ona emotion is a challenge. i still intend on making ashlesh and their deal a thing (although not necessarily as extreme as the runeterra version) but I really wanted to hear from the greatest nilah expert out there. do you have any tips/suggestions? what are things you feel are missing in most nilah fanworks?

i always wanted to make an overall guide on how to write nilah, but never felt comfortable in doing so, but hey now i have an excuse!! thanks frend

first i want to say that most of fanfics out there are fine and there are even some of them i like a lot despite not agreeing the way they write nilah (i guess that's what we call creative freedom lol), and nonetheless im very grateful for people picking her to write about

that said, yes you are totally right, nilah is hella difficult to write, like god level difficulty, because not only you have to know nilah, but if you're going to write her having any interaction with another character you have to know that character too (more than superficial knowledge); for example, nilah often refers to another people by their *full name* or titles, so it's something you have to keep in mind (the only exception i can imagine to this is if she's faking not knowing something for the sake of a higher objective that cannot be achieved by the use of brute force)

nilah unending happiness might sound like a big problem, but it has to be one of the most chill parts of her character; usually people tend to focus too much on the happy side of the thing, and in fact she doesn't work like this!

nilah is happy all the time yes, but it works more like a feeling of excitement than of genuine happiness, and the thing is: nilah feels other things too. well, she doesn't feel them literally, but she *believes* she feels them, it's her human part rationally thinking and mentally pointing "oh now i should feel anger" "now it's a moment of sorrow" and the moment the thought leads to a feeling, it is immediately cut by her curse

nilah lives by her principles and values inherited from her human part and past, and that's what she uses to guide her. all her feelings are suppressed by ashlesh, so she has to rely on her logic, basically

the demon's influence feels much like a grasp; it feels like its hands tightly holds nilah's head; ashlesh is oppressive, he's always watching her... and she still keeps him in control through her rituals and meditations (and even with her intelligence)

people overlook this one too, but nilah is very smart and cunning; years of reading made her a walking encyclopedia, and her tongue can be as sharp as her urumi, BUT her spiritual training with the seventh layer order also made her mindful and sensible: she's smart, but she'll only use knowledge for good; she's cunning, but she won't be if unnecessary or for personal gain.

she weighs the consequences of her actions especially when interacting with other people (which brings me to another point that nilah navigates interaction by social cues, she guesses the pattern and goes by it cause 1) she only feels joy and 2) she's contacting another cultures and lands, so it's kinda of a process of trial and error)

also, if i may say, the impression "an intimate evening at oyster bill's" gives about nilah is that she can read intentions very clearly (probably an ability she got from ashlesh), she may not know why people act the way they do, but she knows when someone is lying or being honest (or threatening her)

with these explanations in mind, here's a quick guide by topics to follow when writing nilah

INTERACTIONS

she's very reserved about herself and her past - even when writing her paired with someone, i dont think she would talk about herself, her past is forgotten and she lost herself to joy, remember that

she's moderate when speaking - if you're going to make her sound happy, do it with balance, the only moment she sounds exceptionally happy and excited is in battle

she's not emotional (logically) - she wont act "in the heat of the moment", as i said, she's thoughtful with her actions

ashlesh also "interacts" with other people - tho of what we have been presented so far makes him looks mysterious, here i believe people SHOULD flex, go for your imagination

INNER THOUGHTS

if you feel like really writing her PoV, try to follow that idea of the logical thinking i explained above and keep it short and objective

you can also describe ashlesh's influence for that emotional seasoning (as i explained above)

but (and it's my personal favorite) you can also totally avoid diving into nilah's PoV for that mystery flavor that works so well with her - no one understands her and trying to do so can create interesting settings

MANNERISMS

she always uses people full names or titles - and in this case using titles when not sure about the characters full names can help, but i advise not overuse it

whenever nilah speaks with someone, insert small mentions of recitations during the interaction - with parsimony, the better use of it happens as a tool to drive conversations; nilah can use it to avoid a question, change topics or end conversations (and the inverse can happens too!!), be creative when use it and be sure to include meaningful conversations/interaction between her lil' recitations

nilah make use of mudras, hand gestures - they can be widely used to be honest (it's more frequent when she do recitations/meditates), but you can also make creative use of it (e.g. she inserts signs in the middle of the mudras to sneakily pass a message)

DON'Ts (personal opinion)

avoid making her childish like the hell

dont make her have the joker smile all the time please please please

she doesnt laugh at everything

this one is veryyy particular of me, but nilah wont go out there mentioning ashlesh name or saying things like "this is ashlesh the lord of joy, one of the ten kings, demon of the seventh layer and i control it blah blah blah" - even if she's asked directly i doubt she would give a full answer, AGAIN she's thoughtful and objective, she wont go out there giving this kind of information for free, avoid this

i think these are my main points, ofc dont let them hold yourself on some idea, i really dont wanna hurt any creative thought by somehow "imposing" my views

something that i always have in mind is that everyone is writing nilah's epic somehow, and i believe nilah would like to see everyone's thoughts about her turning into stories

TPOT 9… discovery??/potential theory on TPOT 10

TPOT 9 spoilers ahead !!!

so close to the end of TPOT 9 (like 21:07), we can see BH (black hole) smash ZSB (zombie snowball) into Gelatins steakhouse to set out the fire which was raging on inside it, yeah? Then the steakhouse gets covered in the snow that belongs to SB as seen here:

That obv snowballs face. Like look at him b4 being rolled up then smashed:

That’s literally his face. And since it’s his zombie face, as he has only made it when he was a zombie, which means he is still a zombie. Everyone else has been cured except him. (Or they died or smth, but this is about SB. So it ain’t important)

If you break the face down to three major parts, it’s easier to recognize:P. That’s just a quick like visual representation of like what I mean or whateva… I dunno actually. But not important ❌❌❌

we also know that barfbags barf + TD = cure, as it like cancels out the lava in the barf to begin with (am no scientist, correct if wrong). The mixture was applied to the steaks from the steakhouse where bottle uses all the mixture. They throw these strakes out on the field outside the steakhouse. It attracts the zombies and they eat it, which cures them. After eating and two exclaiming something (not really important), we don’t get to see the plate again, but since there was several zombies, I will have to assume they ate all the steaks. So on that assumption, there wouldn’t be any steaks left to cure snowball, as he is still in his zombie form. I know they didn’t include snowballs face for nothing or of the shiggles, but as something to grab on to and make predictions about it, aka like I’m doing now!

I predict that the next episode (TPOT 10), we will have something related to snowball still being zombified. Or maybe just wait a few more episodes for it to happen, as we also got 1 (the algebrarian) showing up out of the moon + some more exitors shots. But still, I know this will appear in a future episode and we can maybe get some more snowball and his team interactions (not implying that there isn’t any).

I also feel that this will also add on more to TSTOE arc, YK. You already have robot flower acting up and bell and basketball disagreeing with each other about what to do with RF, but then we also have SB being a zombie in the mix. I have a feeling that the next, or any future challenge they will face, will include issues popping up because how bad the team is working together.

That bell disagrees with something basketball said which leads to them losing (in any way), them losing a challenge where they needed snowball’s or RF’s help, which wasn’t given because RF wasn’t following commands or snowball only wanting to attack other contestants to infect them, or them losing because basketball was burnt out from all the management she has to do alone, as she shared a bit of management with eggy b4 she was eliminated, which made her unable to respond to anyone and stopped her from cooperating with her team, etc. all seem like possible things that can happen in future episodes.

Your eyes almost popped out of your skull when the words finally processed in your head. You dramatically turned your head towards your long-term boyfriend, Johnny, giving him a look that he would probably copy and ridicule you for it for the next 10 years. Your mouth opened and closed, wanting to say something but nothing came out. Maybe your brain was still processing what he said. 

“...Sorry?” was all that came out. Johnny knew that you heard him perfectly. Though he still repeated himself, noting how fidgety you became due to how flustered you felt at his request a second time. You were so cute in his eyes. 

The second time around you realized that this man was not kidding. You heard his words loud and clear, and quite frankly the idea he proposed excited you. 

More than excited.

There was no word in the world you could use to describe it. But it was a unique mix of everything you were feeling; nervous, excited, flustered, curious, and competitive. 

Though you had a hidden voice at the back of your head telling you that you would lose no matter what, you were curious how long it would take. Or even if Johnny was actually more madly in love with you than you thought. That thought alone made your stomach flutter. Maybe the idea was much better than you initially thought. 

With both of your bodies now seated on the couch, legs crossed and facing each other. Johnny first put his arms behind his back, motioning you to mirror his actions. You slowly followed suit, that odd mix of emotions swirling inside your stomach once again. Before starting, you looked into his eyes, noting how his pupils slowly consumed his irises.

You hoped he felt that same mix of feelings as you.

And he did.

He wasn’t sure what took over him to propose such a wild request to you, but something in him was eager to try. Contrary to your thoughts, he was confident that he would give in first, completely against his will. Not because he was about to let you win a challenge that he requested, but because he knew that when it came to you, he went a little crazy. 

“Ready?”

“Mhm.” 

And with that, the two of you leaned closer to the other, the familiar feeling of lips touching washed over you. You and Johnny kissed a lot. It was something you two often did because you simply couldn’t get off each other’s faces that easily; to the members’ despise. 

Your lips danced with each other like it was choreographed yet it was a freestyle with unbelievable synchronization. It came very naturally.

Meant to be. 

Perfect.

You weren’t sure how you did it. Whenever Johnny turned to one side, you simultaneously turned to the other. His breath fanned your lips as you separated for a fraction of a moment. His teeth graced your bottom lip before they connected again. The soft tingling sensation from his teeth lingered as you felt warmth overtake you. You felt his lashes tickle your cheek as you began to smile into the moment.

This is Infinity! She's a magical dog who really just wants to be normal and is surrounded by friends who she thinks are idiots, lovingly. Abrasive at times, yet loving nonetheless. Her markings would all shine on the rare occasions she would use her magic powers!

I based her on who I was and what I wanted to be at the time - wanting to be free of everyone's expectations of me. Also, somehow she was my fursona but I still didn't know what a furry was yet. I consider her my first fursona, loosely! Perhaps not the *most* interesting but she held a lot of importance to me and helped lead me to where I am today!

shes also ridiculously OP because why not sjdffhkhsd the alien race she is evolved in an area with sparse resources so theyre able to planet-hop pretty easily and can survive floating in the void of space if need be and are also really strong shes also got like. imagine a video game stamina bar that lets you manifest objects and charged attacks out of energy. yeah shes got that and shes both a bounty hunter and wanted by the police the bounty hunter thing is cus she ran away from home and needed some source of money and ended up on this planet with a very bad homicidal animal population so might as well put that superstrength to use

and the wanted by the police thing is because she tends to just cause stuff and leave and she accidentally burned a few buildings down

Ok i finally watched it with subs!! Now I understand things better.

First things first we have new reaction image

Roy's part is straightforward, im glad he's so supportive and helpful to wattrell, and eventually captured it. murdock giving him a pokeball to catch it is so sweet, he knew it was coming!! Also him and liko going shopping and having ice cream together is cute, and him thanking her for letting Dot make sandwich is heartwarming :'). But never thought his comment about wanting a certain spice will backfire...

In last ep i thought spinel was ready to act when he came out in disguise, but no he was still trying to gauge the rvt's strength. I wonder if he's trying to lull friede into a false sense of security since the signal problem has been addressed (speaking of friede, rant incoming)

Friede oh my gosh. after watching the ep i can't blame friede 100% since liko went to town on her own without company, but it's still irresponsible for friede to not tell his team what happened.

He knew something was wrong but he chose to ignore it in favour of focusing on takeoff. If he'd told the team about it they'd be on high alert and less likely to do things on their own. It reflects badly on friede's leadership (and cpt. Pikachu as well?). Him not telling liko he's hired by her mom was funny before but it's harmful now. And given how he just met liko's parents.. this stings more 😬

That said it's also a risky gamble for spinel to attack friede because what if friede is responsible and told his team to be on alert instead, did he know friede won't tell? 🤣 and Liko really need to be more careful, i think she's been under protection so much she got careless. If there's a silver lining i think this incident could be a learning opportunity for rvt, they've been getting Ws so much they got overconfident.

Onto Spinel, DID HE REALLY NEED TO ASK THIS?? THE AUDACITY?;"?#!'

He just love mocking people isn't he? Even in disguise his personality shows through 🤣😭 alternatively he could be making sure liko actually lost her memories, but knowing how smug he is it's hard not to read it that way.

He succeeded getting the pendant but it's clear he didn't care about liko, going as far as wiping her memories (he's being safe but it's overkill imo) and leaving her in levincia.

Did he not know the pendant won't activate without her?

He saw what happened back in arboliva forest since he's been spying on them, but it seems it didn't register to him (possible spinel L?). I think now is a good time to confirm if that testament is true.

Also reminder, it was amethio who made this observation and decided to get her along with the pendant, at the expense of his time and gibeon's patience (lol). He made this conclusion right as it happened. So both spi and ame have seen the pendant react to liko, but only ame made the connection (possible amethio W?). This also highlights amethio and spinel's difference, ame is more observant and will deviate from orders if he deems necessary, meanwhile spinel is more focused and follows orders as is. I love this tbh it makes them more interesting.

Liko's memories got wiped right after the ep where she reminisces and being thankful about her adventures and new friends feels kinda cruel lol, poor girl... Not only liko, sprigatito also lost its memories, but seeing the preview, they somehow stayed together until night and then they saw the moon together. This is a callback to the scene where she trained with sprigatito back in ep 1! I think this is an important milestone 🥹💖 i hope they remember.

Overall, it's insane how the story goes from high (roy helping wattrel and catching it) to low (likos pendant got stolen). We (or at least me) were on a rollercoaster of emotions the entire ep, it's amazing. Story-wise I love that this anime is constantly challenging the status quo by having the pendant actually got stolen and liko got attacked. It keeps me on the edge of my seat bc i don't know what to expect, because anything can happen!!

Ok i think I've finished talking abt ep 14 dang that was long🤣 That said, in next ep preview...

Is this spinel? Is spinel still there ?? I thought he leave already??? He's risking his position if he stayed there for long, what's stopping him from leaving already? He didn't need to worry about them finding liko anyway since she's not important to him, he already got the pendant so why is he preventing them from finding her? But maybe it's not spinel but someone else. Maybe even pokemon, we can never trust previews 100% lol.

The ep title doesn't really give a hint since apparently it focuses on Dot and quaxley? Iono will also appear, but I can't tell what's the correlation between the two, other than they're both influencers. They're definitely going to find liko, so maybe dot will ask for iono's help? Her gym test does revolve around looking for people after all. But 'someone getting in the way' makes me feel nervous.

That's all my thoughts, this was a great ep, explorers fans are fed well, see you next week!!

anyway tho like. now that ive played the 1.2 story and sat on it a bit id say my overall thoughts are def mixed. i enjoyed a lot of it but theres some things that sorta just stick out or dont work and the pacing definitely worked against the story

(just a long rant/ramble upcoming its not coherent at all lol)

one thing that rly rubbed me the wrong way was like. while overall this story rly sold fu xuan as a character to me (i was a huge fan of her presence overall) the dan shu thing just felt? wrong? and like to be clear it wasnt just fu xuan the scenes writing was off in general but her role in being the one countering dan shus points just made her p central to the problem.

but like my issue is that dan shu is previously established as having very understandable reasons behind her resentment of lan that made her compelling as twist villain imo. Yet that resolve was nowhere in the scene in her rebuttal of the xianzhous ways?? when i think that shouldve been The moment of her calling out the xianzhou and actually challenging fu xuan properly. it wouldve been an even better opportunity to expand upon how fu xuan responds to being confronted with the xianzhous flaws and hypocrisy and problems. but somehow yassified dan shu really just. had a generic villain speech and thats it. the callback to their heritage as former followers of abundance was... fine? but like it wasnt that impactful. and fu xuan essentially calling her nothing but a power hungry villain when thats very much Not what dan shus motivation boils down to sucks and now players who didnt read her diary or play/pay attention to her side quest will think of her as just a generic bad guy and not a very tragic complex figure of her own

then the like. underutilization of blade was just like. ok what was the point. it IS funny to reference the tuxedo mask meme and how he skewers his ex yet immediately gangs up with him against yanqing and all but honestly he shouldve gotten to be more feral and present than he did like its just meh. ig its kafka keeping him from messing up elios script but cmon. i want more of him. yanqing also got done so dirty in that scene like. he shouldve gotten some more screentime and focus even if his job was p much to just get bodied. kid just watched jing yuan make deals with criminals no way he isnt affected by it

in general i was p shocked how inexistent the high cloud quintet was from the story. but ig w how rushed the pacing was for dan hengs backstory reveals at times already ig its better left for later (hopefully). i just rly hope this means that the topic get its time to shine properly in the future. esp since im p sure they never even named any of dan fengs crimes outright which is a curious choice.

jing yuan got a rly solid characterization and i definitely enjoyed it!!! even if im a little miffed at how they didnt give dan heng enough breathing room to come to terms with the emotional impact of facing his past and memories thanks to the plot moving forward so fast and he was kinda the one leading that. but he was still great - i liked the scheming side to him and the arguably pretty ruthless way he leveraged dan hengs exile status to force his hand to cooperate a lot. his reasoning makes sense obvi but its still a very brutal and utilitarian approach and i like that energy for his character. his duty is to the luofu above all else even if thats far from all he is about. overall his and dan hengs interactions including dan heng very much emphasizing his desire to be seen as separate from dan feng were a highlight for sure. and jing yuans final showdown moment against phantylia slapped obviously

and then w dan heng im torn between like. really loving all the good stuff we got with the insane cutscenes and the vidyadhara echoes and then wishing that he got just that little bit more for his own realizations and inner conflict. and the part about not properly featuring blade also hurt his story too imo bc the anticlimactic nature of the scene where blade confronts him and forces the transformation and how he n kafka just... leave rly kinda flattens the impact of the reveal moment esp since thats when jing yuan just all but openly says ok time for the plot. but they still did a great job selling DHIL and i think im overall a fan of how they seem to have handled the dan feng vs dan heng thing (and its roughly what i was expecting). dan feng is dead but its never just that simple either. i hope theyll be exploring the exact nature of dan fengs sins and the sedition in the future

im so mad i spoiled myself the tingyun thing bc jfc the neck snap wouldve hit So hard if the reveal itself was also a complete surprise. and its sth that was genuinely well built up like i remember thinking her 1.0 dialogue was kinda sus but wouldve never imagined the actual truth. dont do leaks folks sometimes this happens and it sucks :/ but i have to say phantylia herself was kinda? underwhelming. i liked when she picked up jing yuan like a little bug she wanted to squish and the boss fight was cool but to be fair. this was like 50% bc of how bad the sound mixing was for all of her dialogue that overlapped w in game battle. she rly lacks the necessary menace and imposing energy when u can barely even make out what shes saying 😭 her voice shouldve been as loud and large as her..... Presence. jing yuan carried the boss fight and the final cutscene but man the fade to black rly didnt do the abrupt ending any favors like we just teleport to exalted sanctum and thats it???? maybe jing yuan dies maybe not!!!

overall my prime issue is p much just how like. it feels like they shoved 3-4 mini arcs worth of stuff into one speedrun when all of them deserved more focus and exploration and the pacing rly got rough at times. it wasnt like inazuma level bad but it does get me wondering if hoyos just bad at doing these big conclusions to prior build up and holding the story threads tightly together until the end.

this comes off as super negative helpp but like. by no means did i hate all of it so dont take it the wrong way lmao. its more that there was good stuff there but also wasted potential. for the most part i was having a blast but to be fair that was 40% just playing blade ridiculously underleveled through it all. i only got him to lvl 80 for the boss fight

Ok, so Im using a doodle I drew of Cloud just to represent video games in general.

I finished Xenoblade2. It was on my list of games to entertain me while my husband was deployed. Honestly thought Id make a bigger dent in that backlog but alas, my spouse has been gone for 9 months and I only played 1.5 games. I started Zelda:totk prior to him leaving and it took me half his trip and 220 hours to finish. Been playing XB2 since finishing Zelda. Well, I lie I haven’t been counting Disney Dreamlight also which has an absurd amount of hours on it too.

Other games on my list to play are Octopath Traveler 2, Xenoblade 3 and possible Red Dead Redemption 2 (my only one for the ps4)and I had another possible for the switch also. I didn’t necessarily want to play XB2 and in fact the internet suggested to skip it but I felt guilty having played 1 and skipping to 3, so I gave it a try. For the record, my spouse returns home within the month and I’m not making it through my backlog.

So I have thoughts about XB2. In a way I don’t know if it was as bad as the internet says it was. Probably seems ok because I haven’t played 3 which is apparently one of the best modern jrpgs so my opinion will probably change. My biggest gripe was traversing the map. I enjoy a good, open world and stumbling upon hidden nooks and crannies but this game did not make it easy to get to certain locations. I was trying hard not to google information but sometimes I had to just to get to some of these tunnels. Particularly in Gormott. Nothing pissed me off than trying to get around main Gormott area and then if you weren’t just lost the game punished you by having random level 90 monsters swoop down and murder you. I guess the murder isn’t exactly new. XB1 had similar but exploring was so much easier. It may have also been a switch problem but keeping the character in auto run was a challenge itself. I almost quit this game because of it. Rex would be in a sprint and then get stuck walking stupidly slow.

That reminds me too of the controls. It took me a long time to get used to opening the correct menu. I kept accidentally opening the settings/save screen instead of the main menu or the map screen. Also on the world map I would keep accidentally opening up controller help button. This is fine except they don’t make it super easy to back out of them. You have to click through multiple screens. Again, some of this might be because I was pushing certain menu buttons for Zelda for so long it took a while to get used to backwards controls.

Other control problems were my fault. I do not want to read a manual to play. I don’t like tutorials. I feel like the buttons should always be obvious. I did not read any instructions. It took me far too long (90 hour mark) to realize if I press start, a chain attack would occur. I learned this while trying to pause during a boss fight, which I don’t even know if you can pause still. Also, around the 120 hour mark I learned that each blade had little mini quests to unlock power ups. I just assumed you used them to level them up. I never actually clicked around in the screen (which also had stupid controls) lmao. /failgamer/. This one’s kinda annoying because I had to run around the world again to excavate and open all these chests I couldn’t before because nothing was leveled lol.

All of these things were very frustrating when trying to set and perform regular quests and missions. Some of the quests were very vague and difficult to follow without a guide.

Then we have the story and characters. The giant boobs I could ignore as they usually come with jrpgs but the story and characters lost my interest almost immediately. The gameplay being more fun despite being clunky. I honestly don’t know if I could name every character. The final boss was also just meh. I don’t necessarily need a challenge but he was no more amazing than any regular fight. I felt nothing when the credits rolled.

I will say I liked the atmosphere of the game and the voice acting except for tora. Dude..shut up..the mini game tiger tiger wasn’t so bad either. Thought that was going to be painful but they were pretty lenient.

Overall I think it was maybe just under Tales of Arise. I played SEs Harvestella last year and XB1 and 2 are both far superior than it. I wasn’t expecting to get almost 140 hours in this game tho and I didn’t even complete some of the side quests. I tried to go for completionism but I just couldn’t get lost on the maps anymore.

I’m considering dropping immediately into XB3 but the new FF7 is about to come out. I don’t know if I should get invested when I’ll have to stop in the middle to play another game. I won’t be able to play ff7 until my husband comes home next month tho because he has the ps5. I also never got to play ff16 and I’m considering baldurs gate…all the cool people played it already tho and I’m behind.

But ff7. Rebirth has sparked a resurgence in an old obsession.

IM PUTTING IN MY TWO CENTS HERE because I think the entire conversation about why people choose certain potions and routes within non-linear choice based game,s, or any game that provides some level of illusion of choice. I remember talking about this extensively in my Psychology class for Game Design, and though of course theres a multitude of reasoning, I think what peoples idea of fantasy or even coping is largely at play. I know one of your thoughts on playing questionable or morally challenging characters is because you already conform to a societal expectation to "be nice" or an upstanding citizen, and Honestly thats super understandable! Im not here to analyze anyone, but a good chunk of other people I talk to have some sort of revenge fantasy and I dont mean that in a bad way! Rebellion to rules that plague reality and the ability to let lose, or just an interest in consequences for your playthrough that dont actually affect you is another reasoning, albeit the rarer of the two options. On the otherhand, as someone who loves to make The Most Morally Good Characters, and is also a big baby when it comes to being mean in most video games, My "revenge fantasy" IS being nice, because we are all forced to tiptoe around the same sociteal expectations but even those on the other side dont have much power in helping people on a larger scale that video games allow! To be The Hero that helps as many people as possible, that has to power to fundamentally change the world for the better, that is a unrealistic reward of its own. And I know you also mentioned briefly how you see it as limiting, and I think to some people this might ring true of them allowing themselves to cave and actually enjoy the "morally questionable" decision making, however I think for the other half its not limiting? Its Highly Rewarding. Theres also something to mention in how Linear people are themselves, its much more common to hear about people replaying one exact route despite there being 100000s choices vs those who do every route imaginable, so the more likely someone is to lean one side esp in their initial playthrough, the less likely they are to want to go the other way. I HOPE THIS DOESNT COME OFF AS LIKE...A REBUTTAL, Its not! I think this is a genuinely facinating phenomenon that ive had to think and write about in school, theres so many layers to it Id love to discuss and love to HEAR discusssed so youre so smart for actually starting that poll bc Ive been enjoying searching through the replies of it

And I think your points are really cogent and in line with what I've kinda been angling at, which is that they're two sides of the same coin of "indulging in a fantasy." And it probably makes me a bit of a hypocrite that I'm like "I just don't get why other people can't see the appeal of Doing Bad Things as an escapist fantasy!" even though I would also say with my whole chest that being the big damn hero who saves everyone and changes the world for the better holds absolutely zero appeal to me LOL It is truly just a matter of taste.

It's probably beyond the scope of a tumblr poll but I feel like an interesting follow-up re: people not choosing to behave badly in games, would be to ask people why. Like there's the obvious "it's usually not written as well/doesn't let you have the full game experience" reason which is valid, but of the remainder I wonder how many people would honestly say it's just not fun to be mean, and how many would admit that it makes them uncomfortable because they still feel the need to conform to societal standards even in their fantasy world. (I feel like this reads as me passing a judgment on either stance and I'm not! Just thinking out loud. In text.)

Oh man I forgot to touch upon this in my initial ask BUT tldr; yes I think games that present themselves as choice based and yet lean heavily towards one morality (usually the good Guys) and dont give second thoughts to the other side, defeats the purpose of allowing players to play how they want. I think this is actually why the only game I like being morally questionable in is fnv, bc both "choices" actually present interesting outcomes. Theres also something to say how in games the good side rewards more which I think is stupid.

! Brief trigger: this is not exactly a rant, it’s a story time but a very long one, pls bear with me 🥲 (also my first ask so there’s that)

Been following you for a while now Rid, I’ve mostly read your standalone fics like love me better, begin, silk & stones, stars behind waves & tale of broken hearts. I consider myself as the type who likes gut wrenching angst that ends in happy ending or at least a feeling of hope at the end. These ones like you had promised, were definitely angst heavy (esp the vmin fics). I prefer not to touch long series coz I fear I might lose interest midway thru & might end up thinking I wasted lots of time reading it since it often happens that authors end up adding bunch of filler scenes in between & im one who doesn’t like that.

So for the longest time I actually ignored cmi, until the amc thing came up & the some of the questions relating to the character arcs were def intriguing for me, & I thought ‘why not just give this one a go?’ The word count for cmi looked quite scary😶 so I took inspiration from seven & tried finishing from start till the recent update within seven days (…peak stupidity LoL) & GOD THE ANGST. I couldn’t help but take a blanket over my head to tear down through the rough patches that followed in midway through the fic…literally every scene was so detailed, it almost felt like I was looking at two people I closely knew & felt sorry for to suffer the miseries of being apart because of the conflicts they’d been facing.

Even if I actually succeeded in completing the 200k wc (the fastest & longest record for me) I was able to enjoy the fic. Maybe coz you actually understand the pacing of the slow burn and wrote their arcs so carefully which allowed the reader to slowly unveil their personalities, their flaws, their growth throughout the fic. I kinda skipped the drabbles in between (i did skim through but didn’t actually focus on them alot) coz the goal was to first read through the main storyline then take my time to unwind & re-read the drabbles after. Honestly this work might be my fav one from you, or any Jungkook fic I’ve read in the entirety of this website. Just wanted to say thanks for crafting such a wonderful piece of literature for us, im thrilled to read further what lays in store for jk & oc after they talked through their differences & patched up. And after reading so much pining that went behind in the past 9(?) parts, I’d actually love only fluff and warmth for this couple (me as angst enthusiast saying this✋🙂). And yes, I’m waiting for the cmi drabble (seven mv jk cross over with cmi jk is an unimaginable menace 🫠) and future parts to be posted sooner too! This couple has my heart💛

i couldnt agree more with you! i really dont understand why everyone is so hyped over seven. i have to admit it kind of disappointed me with its shallow lyrics. and i dont understand the purpose of the explicit version? i really hate it. and i think its okay not to like every single song they put out, being an army definitely doesnt mean you have to agree with everything they say, do… but i really hope that the rest of the songs in his album wont be so shallow and i really want them to be more unique like the rest of their songs… i feel like with songs like seven you can listen to them a couple of times and then get bored (but maybe thats just my opinion idk). tbh i think jk is just trying to show us something different than what he showed us previously and i dont blame him for that. but im definitely more looking forward to the songs that he will actually write because im sure that he is capable of writing deeper and more meaningful lyrics. and even if the whole album is in english it doesnt necessarilly mean its going to be completely westernized, right? he did say he wants to try new genres… i think he just wants to challenge himself to try something new and i think a fully-english album is a part of that.

either way, i really wish him all the best because i genuinely believe he’s a bit lost and lonely without other members. to me, it seems that the hiatus definitely had the biggest impact on him? but at the end on the day, 2025 is not THAT far away and im excited for when we can see them as a group again💜 jk even said (recently) that after hiatus they will come back even stronger and i think these words are definitely worth lookig forward to💜

if Watt wanted a no brainer song then he succeeded 😂 and yeah i don't like the explicit ver lol someone i follow here said it sounds like they only did it for shock value, which i kinda agree with. the explicit ver cheapened a song that barely had any meaning to begin with (y'all do not come after me for this. you know it's true) but i guess people really wanted to hear him say fuck 😂

true. jk is definitely trying to show a different side of him and good for him, honestly. but i don't think it necessarily reflects in the quality of the songs yk? i think this is more about presenting a new image rather than exploring the sound.

the hiatus... yeah :( they raised him, he literally spent half of his life with them and this is the first time he has to be apart from them in like 13 years. also i feel like there's this kinda pressure for them to all release a solo album before enl*sting, so idk if this also plays a part in him not taking the time to focus on His sound himself but yeah just putting this out there
