Listening to a song cover of Sirius' Heart I found through a twitter mutual-kinda and it is squeezing my own heart.

every single weekend, without fail, there is one thing that mick looks forward to that has absolutely nothing to do with the adrenaline from the race. it’s actually the fact that she makes him lunch all 4 days of a race weekend and they eat it together in honda’s cafeteria together while the prop up her ipad on the table and bond over a korean drama she managed to coax him into watching.

during pre-season testing in bahrain, she made him a lot of japanese food. japanese curry as promised, then a bowl of ramen, gyudon and then onigiri for race day.

for their first race weekend, korean food. korean fried chicken, bibimbap, japchae and bulgogi in that order. in jeddah, she tried threw him a wildcard of dishes while somehow still sticking to a theme: baked potato, mashed potatoes, potato soup and sauteed potatoes.

it’s a game they like to play every weekend — how long can mick decipher the theme of food she’s making him?

“hi,” she grins, dropping her bright pink lunch bag on the table. she thanks mick softly as he pulls the chair next to him out for her to take a seat. “i brought lunch!”

he smiles with a nod. it’s funny that she would say that as if it’s something that they did not establish beforehand — that she would be making him lunch every race weekend that they’re teammates. “did you now?”

“i made pakora,” she says as she starts to take out multiple tupperwares out from her bag. “fried veggies.”

“really?” he scrunches his nose with a frown, pulling a giggle as she throws her head back. “veggies on media day? you’ve gone cruel, barbie. where’s my junk food?”

she blinks at him, eyes wide as she formulates a response in her head. “it’s fried. it’s already junk food, mick.”

he scoffs, furrowing his eyebrows and scowling in feigned disgust. “this is ridiculous, barbie! vegetables on media day!”

she stiffens up and turns to him, blinking slowly. “you don’t like it? really?” her voice comes out softly and fragile as her lips quiver slightly. she starts to put the cover back on her tupperware. “we can just get something from catering. it’s okay.”

only then mick realises that he’s messed up. he’s always joked around with her, the girl either tilting her head in confusion at jokes with depth or simply faking a laugh to try and please him. otherwise, jokes usually just go over her head.

“no!” mick sits up quickly, patting her hands lightly, shaking his head profusely. “barbie, i was joking. usually you only give me the healthy food on race day — it’s media day. get it?”

she stares at him, eyes still wide and hesitant. “are you sure? it’s okay if you don’t want it, really.”

“barbie.” he tears her hands from the tupperware along its cover. “it was a joke. you know i look forward to your cooked lunches every weekend! thank you so much for cooking again.”

“you’re sure?”

he grins. “of course. so,” he taps on her ipad, “is the new episode out yet?”

instantly, she perks up as if forgetting her initial concerns. “yes! the new episodes are out — there’s 2!” she taps away on her ipad to turn on the show she’s decided they will watch and spend the entire day discussing.

“oh, cool. so, how long did it take you to make this meal?”

“just a while,” she shrugs. she takes out their utensils, offering the other pair to mick. “let’s have lunch!”

“Not yet; there are still a few things I need to finish up,” Marco responds without even turning his head around

“I’m cold,” she whines

“There’s a storm outside, so I can’t warm up in the sun, and Ace fell asleep while eating again; you're the only source of heat around.”

He sighs, turning around on his chair and picking up the child from the table, putting them on his lap, and turning back around to his paper

“There, now will you let me finish these papers?”

She smiles, cuddling up to him and closing her eyes, basking in warmth

“You’re so warm, Brother Marco.”

“Yes, yes, I know, but you aren’t making my job easier.” He says as he works on finishing his papers, his actions betraying his words as he begins petting her head, scratching behind her ears

She hums, letting a loud purring sound at the sensation, leaning closer to him

He lets out a snicker at the sound

“Why are you laughing?” She mumbles

“Nothing.” He mumbles before continuing to scratch behind her ears

“I just remembered a conversation in which you said you did not fold at being petted,” he said with a chuckle

“Ten minutes ago, to be specific, if I am not mistaken.”

She jumps up at that, a frown on her young face

“I’ll have you know you are mistaken! I do not fold at something such as pets; I am not some stray cat!”

He raises his eyebrow

“Then, could you explain the purring I heard just a moment ago?”

“Yeah, you need to get your hearing checked.”

“Did you forget about my devil fruit?”

“Must be malfunctioning 'cause there is something wrong with em.”

“You’re such a brat; just admit you enjoy being petted.”

“Hmph,” she scoffed, jumping off his lap

“I'm going to go see if Brother Ace woke up; maybe his ears will be working better than yours, Brother Marco.”

He smiles, watching the child go, leaning his head on his hand

“Do come back if you want more,” he calls out

He snickers under his breath but says nothing else as she storms off

Tiny footsteps could be heard hitting against the boards of the Moby dick as Dokucha hurriedly made it to the mess hall, looking for her freckled brother, spotting the rambunctious man over in one of the tables

“Brother Ace, you’re up!” She hollered

Ace, sitting down in one of the tables with the rest of the brothers, quickly wolfs down his food at the sound of the voice

“What’s up?” He asks as he sees his sister approaching, raising an eyebrow

She stretches her hands towards him, opening and closing her hands

He chuckles at the motion before grabbing her and picking her up, placing her on his lap

“What is it, kitty cat?” He teases

“Nothing,” she smiles, cuddling up to him and his heightened warmth

“Sure.” He chuckles, rubbing her ears gently as they are on his hands

“Then why the sudden rush to see me?”

“Brother Marco was being mean, and I was cold,” she mumbles

He chuckles at the small girls voice

“Oh was he? You mean your kitty purr didn’t work on him?”

“I don’t purr!” She said once again, jumping up, glaring at him

“Hah, really?!” he gasps in fake surprise

“Could have sworn I heard it, din’t you, Thatch?” he asked with a grin, looking at his brother, who was putting some plates down on the table

Thatch chuckles, shaking his head with a grin

“I did hear a small purr, yes.”

She pouts about to tell them off when one of the tables when up in an uproar; by the look of it, one of her brothers had started a drinking competition once again

She sighed, jumping off Ace’s lap and continuing on her way to find a place to nap in peace

Whitebeard hums as he hears soft knocking at the door of his chambers

“Come in.”

“Papaw!” She whines, climbing her way into his bed

He chuckles as she climbs all over his bed

“Gurararara” he laughs scratching her head.

“What is it? Is there something you need?”

“Mess hall is too noisy; I wanna nap,” she said, cuddling into his chest with a smile, sighing in relief

“There,There .” He said strokinb her hair as she cuddles into his chest, his own soft smile growing as he looks down at his little one

“Sleep here for now, brats know to keep it down around here”

“Thank you, Papaw”

“Make sure to sleep well.”

Dokucha now sat on top of ace’s shoulders, leaning her face and hands on top of his head as they walked

“What are we looking for again?”

“Izou left ahead of us to intercept the guys we were after; we are his backup,” he answered as he briskly walked through the grassy field

“I see him. Okay, ankle biter, you’re up,” he said, grabbing the girl from his shoulders and putting her on the ground, kneeling down on the ground next to her

“See the guy with the red shirt? He’s a long-distance sniper; I need you to take him out while I go help Izou with the melee fighters.”

She grins, her two incisors poking out of her mouth as she did

“Bite?” she said, looking at her brother, waiting for permission

“Yes, you can bite; go get ’em.”

She grins, shifting into her cat form and running closer to the guy; once close enough, she began prowling, silently approaching the guy until she was right next to them, at which point she pounced on them, making quick work of them, removing their going and easily gaining a surrender

She shifted into her human form, grinning as she kneeled on the now fainted man, chuckling as she watched her brothers make quick work of the rest of the enemies

“Impressive.” Izou praised her, approaching the girl, Ace following behind him, looking down at the man she had incapacitated.

“You’re getting better at that,” he grins, rubbing her head

She gives him a toothy grin in response, purring at the affection

As a reward for her hard work, Izou decided not to comment on the very obvious purring coming out from her as he continued rubbing her head , her ears tilting and twitching as she enjoyed her hard-earned pampering

That scene where Dokucha was kneeling on top of the guy, I was thinking of that one scene where young shanks was doing the same, eating chocolate (?)

Shanks really be stealing hearts since back then, I ‘ll take 1000 chapters on Roger pirates, Thank you < 3

virtual love ; prologue

synopsis : two high school students grew up studying as middle schoolers. although it doesnt seem like they ended on good terms

you tap your pencil on your japanese dictionary as you tried racking your brain for ideas

“愛してる… what else ends in てる?”

you sigh as you scrap your unfinished plan. your japanese teacher had asked you and several other students to create a poem about love in japanese. you knew you made decent poems but youve never attempted making any in said language. luckily your parents allowed you to stay at the library after school for a longer time so you can work more proficiently

you started to get lost in your head, staring blankly at the swarm of people. that was until a boy around your age comes up to your table

“may i sit here? i need to complete an essay”

you stared up with an absent mind at the boy, enjoying how soft his voice was until you realized he asked you something. you scrambled to organize some of the papers that were messily scattered around the small round table

“of course”

you accidentally squeak as you speak, a barley visible blush on your face as you tried to smile. you probably looked like a mess but the young boy didnt seem to mind it as he sat down in a steady manner

once the boy was seated, you tried to continue where you left off. you looked at the dictionary placed in front of you, almost taunting you, before looking up again. the boy had fluffy dark hair, a nice shade of blue makes up his eyes, perhaps he was in a rush this morning with how his hair fell in front of his face, the way you can see knots and tangles in his hair

thats when you notice it. hey, isnt that the uniform for your school? you look down and compare the two, and they were in fact (mostly) identical. you took a breath in before asking,

"hey, dont we go to the same school?"

you could feel your voice shake as you spoke each word, successfully catching the attention of the boy in front of you

"i believe so. youre in 7年级, right?"

"yeah i am"

"im a year older than you then, 8年级"

you start to feel yourself heat up with embarrassment. you werent exactly sure why but you had a guess. you closed your eyes to avoid eye contact with the stranger in front of you

"ohh, i see. thats nice"

you nod your head, soft smile on your face. dan heng only smile back before seemingly returning back to his book. you feel words get stuck on your tongue as you long to talk to the boy more but you simply left the conversation at that and went back to your poem. you have a faint idea in your head from your new interaction but before you could do anything, the dark-haired boy in front of you spoke up

“私は丹恒です”

“huh?”

“私の名前は丹恒です. あなたの名前は何ですか?”

“私の名前は...(name) です, よろしくお願い します”

“非常好”

“谢谢! did you also take japanese?”

your eyes sparkled as you continued to converse with dan heng. now that you knew his name, the air seeming to become more relaxed around you two

“yeah, last year”

dan heng nodded his head, seemingly bashful as his cheeks get coated with a very light pink. the tension between you two gets a lot less awkward as you two settle into a comfortable silence. well, as much you two could get in a crowded library

you softly turn the pages of your book as you let the words run free from your head to the paper. you knew you were being a bit delusional writing any sort of romance story between you and dan heng, a boy you literally met that day, but you cant help but silently laugh as you reread your poem

and just like that the days passed so quickly. dan heng and you still sat down together, even if the library had free seats. even if you guys didnt talk often, you still sat together. it felt like you only knew dan heng a week when it finally hit your one year anniversary

and the next year… and the year after, and as much as you would like to say the year after you cant. theres a bitter feeling in your mouth if you even try to mention it

you were just sitting, innocently waiting for dan heng to arrive, a gift on the table just for him. your eyes lit up as you saw his figure

“happy 3rd year anniversary”

you chirp, a wide smile on your face. your smile was never reciprocated as dan heng spoke up

“im leaving.. tomorrow. if i can, i might see you before i leave”

dan heng quietly tells you, his voice deep with a plethora of guilt and sadness. your smile immediately falters as you look at him with a hopeless smile

“youre kidding? right?”

“no, im not. its… family issues”

you just sigh as you nod your head in defeat

“well, open your gift. least we can do is have a nice day together”

dan heng chuckles at your attempt to lighten the mood. he places his gift on the table before he takes yours, opening it to find a small keychain, in the shape of a spear. dan heng smiles before looking at you with anticipation. at first you were confused before you realized he was waiting for you to open the gift

you blush in embarrassment before grabbing the box, opening it with excitement. you were so curious what dan heng got for you this year, he was always do attentive

this year proved it even more. dan heng had gotten you your own phone, set with a little dragon phone charm. you werent sure why he got you a dragon charm to match but you were still very grateful. how could you ever repay him back?

“ah, this is too much… i cant possibly have it”

“no, no, i insist. take it, you deserve it”

you bashfully nod your head, knowing you could never win against dan heng in these kind of battles

the next day, you didnt expect dan heng to meet you, but he did. except he was different. you almost contemplating not coming but you were glad as you cheerfully greet him, almost crying of relief. you knew dan heng would leave after but you were clutching onto any last scrap of hope that dan heng will still be there the next day

“id like to deliver a message. how about you back off, kay? id say i hate you so thanks”

‘dan heng’ told you brusquely, a fake smile on his face as his eyes closed. it didnt take long for them to open again as he gracefully walks out of the library

you were sat frozen, unsure what he meant. back off? huh? he hates you. was dan heng just leading you on? you dwell on his words, your pen shaking ever so slightly in your hand as you slightly tremble at the thought

and all these thoughts run in your head aided in your tears. the warm liquid flowing down your cheeks seemingly invisible to you. it wasnt until the librarian came up and asked if you were okay. you did your best to answer without a voice-crack

“yeah, yeah, im… okay”

the librarian looked at you suspiciously before nodding their head and leaving back to their post. it didnt take you long before you put back all your books and left the library, vowing to never get tricked like that again, vowing to never fall in love so easily again.

really you wouldnt have minded falling in love with someone. as long as it wasnt dan heng

Im learning japanese rn and one thing I've noticed is that my voice when I speak japanese is A LOT quieter than when Im speaking English because if i speak loud I notice the words dont sound as clear- This language is forcing me to be quitter- which is honestly a good thing I talk way to loud😭

For me, learning how to pronounce certain words was pretty big, and the best way I did that was plenty of research combined with just casually listening. Whispering is a start, but you might develop habits that aren't so correct (just noting down what I saw in myself - particularly in pronouncing my "r/l's").

For starters, I used Buusu to begin learning pronunciation (before it was put behind a paywall :⁠-⁠\), but there are plenty other things available!

One of the biggest ones is japanesepod101, as they have many YouTube videos going over basically everything you need to know:

This channel's also really good as well ୧꒰*´꒳`*꒱૭✧

Alongside videos like these, you can also develop good pronunciation habits just by listening to anime (although not always the best example sometimes) and music! That's how babies learn to speak anyway, just by listening and piecing things together (๑>ᴗ<๑)

Other examples include podcasts, radio, Japanese YouTube channels (many have subtitles!), advertisements with VPN, and more (๑ˊ͈ ꇴ ˋ͈)

I think it's very important to note that pronunciation is very important in Japanese. Depending on the word, you can change the whole meaning of something just by giving it the wrong pitch.

Example: In English, you can change the message of a sentence by stressing a word like so,

This isn't my cat.

Turns into:

This isn't my cat.

Insinuating that the cat isn't yours, but is someone else's.

Japanese is sort of like that. Words can change meaning based on where you put your high and low pitches, so that's why speaking clearly when practicing is best to start off with.

I tend to get my practice through talking to myself throughout the day ("yabbai!" if I mess something up, "mendokusai.." if I'm upset, etcetera etcetera). I also talk to my pets as well in Japanese to practice, seeing as they don't mind (៸៸᳐⦁⩊⦁៸៸᳐ )੭ﾞ

can I ask what goes through your head while translating ? like, do you read through the text, understand what it's about, and then start translating it ? or does the understanding happen throughout the process ?

i like to be open about the fact that im not a fluent JP speaker at all, at this point im like... intermediate at most. this isnt me trying to be humble or whatever i am Serious. the only reason ive translated so much splatoon stuff is because i have enough knowledge to not be stumbling around clueless, and (biggest reason) because almost nobody else was doing it. also its fun to figure out how to convey an idea across different languages.... where differences in culture and the way the language itself works creates these gaps that need to be remedied with a translation note or a looser translation/localization... i got a degree in lingusitics i think this shit is incheresting i still got plenty of gaps in my grammar/vocab/kanji knowledge, but im literate enough to get the main ideas of a passage. occasionally ill be able to fully understand it without checking a dictionary or anything and then i type up a translation. but often times the understanding is something that happens throughout the process. process is as follows: parse text to the best of my own abilities. If i'm confident i can read it ill just type up the translation. if i cant fully comprehend it all... ->if its text in a book or something, use google translate's scan function to get a digital transcription -> fix transcription if there's issues -> run text through both deepL and jisho.org. DeepL is much better than google translate at making intelligible auto translations, but it sometimes gets overconfident. sometimes i can understand what a sentence is getting at but im not sure how to neatly convey it in english, and then it's like. wow the machine did it for me. -> cross check the auto translation with the original JP text. again, i'm not fluent, but i can read enough to know what all the parts of the sentence are, and i can tell where exactly the machine translation messed up -> if i dont like how the machine structured a sentence ill rewrite it -> if there's words, idioms, grammar points etc. that i'm unsure about, i'll look into them further on jisho or find more information elsewhere online

The best option tbh, but usually it’s not how it is in f1… don’t even talk about rivalry, my god! Monza already left me in tears and nothing big happened just a little tap 😭 according to Zak their relationship is professional, they don’t hang out much, Lando has his own circle of friends, Oscar too. But I feel they’re getting close as the season goes on. They have rivalry tho, both of them talks about having a strong teammate is important and how they want to beat each other. So it’s there but they also need to focus on the team as well. If there is too much tension it’ll hold back the team moving forward and them being on good terms and respecting each other helped the team improving this much compared to the season opener. Plus not like other drivers they’re able to separate their feelings and personalities when they’re on and off track. I adore that! Some drivers are way too salty off track you gotta move on, whatever happened, happened it’s not end of the world. They’re holding grudge like teenager schoolgirls 🙃 I love that Lando and Oscar aren’t like that. It meant a lot to me and also I’m sure the team appreciates it too. Plus it’s how it always was with Oscar over his career. Very little rivalry, pushing each other with teammates but mutual respect off track too.

Juniors don’t have an easy task to get any seat… we likely don’t have any rookies on the field next year. It’s right and will be a mess in a few years… 😐

hello again! several months passed by and my quality is still deteriorating almost had to redo the first page entirely because of a minor screw up, but with what was left of my paint fogged brain, i managed to salvage it! hell no am i cleaning up text bubbles again. now for the translator notes! page 1: last box is just idle chatter, didn't have the energy to fill it in and also i'd block the drawings... page 5: not sure if kenma is saying "i should get" or "we should get" page 6: i don't know if kuroo is whining how he wants to share a drink with us or with the "same guy" (in the first page), so i stuck to what made sense...in my mind last page: the prompt (grey bubble) is something among the lines of "how he waits for (valentine's) chocolate" and above their heads is their different reactions. kuroo's: "rather than waiting, he messes around" (kinda saying that he teases you for it) kenma: "he stays quiet about it, but when he hears [you say] 'here you go', he answers" (which means he waits patiently but jumps at the opportunity (?)) whew! whole lotta hoopla over a simple triangle chapter. dont know why i was procrastinating so much on this also it feels like whenever i post it's a landmark on my life. right now im at my final year of school lol. got off on a bad start, but i'm hanging in there...! also uhh...got a bunch of new novels from a while back and ordering a new one! an inarizaki themed! who knows if it'll come to me in one piece, though... is the one piece real? also CAN TUMBLR PLEASE FIX THE EDITING FEATURE??? whole app keeps crashing whenever i try to copy paste my formatting ;; also uh if the order of the pages is confusing or the qualitys a bit iffy, feel free to let me know!

this ep was kind of lowkey. not really sure how i feel about the team selection being entirely determined by rank - pretty sad that karen & momoka, amongst others, probably wont get to show their actual main abilities

the teams that performed were hero, shine a light, wa da da, & run run. ranking: run run > hero ≥ wa da da > shine a light. i don't really like the song choices (songs that already have choreo for a dance round, only one non-idol dance song, plus the singers/producers for that song helped arrange all of the vocal performances? makes me wonder if the final group will be getting a LAS song) but at least theyre all in japanese this time (for the vocal & rap groups at least)

run run: good performance but i have a few gripes. 1 - why was it worth more points? they said that the choreo was harder but the whole mission was for the girls to create choreo so... i dont actually expect that the trainees on these shows are doing all the arranging and writing and choreography themselves (much less on pd japan where virtually no one has a trainee background) but the whole set up of the mission kind of says the quiet part loud, you know? 2 - the distribution was a complete mess. loved joa as the center but the rest were basically backup dancers...for a choreo that theyre ostensibly creating themselves the difference in screentime between each person just doesnt make sense. and that was reflected in all of the ranks apart from yuuki & yurara i think. storyline: i found the koto/yuki storyline pretty meh. joa did actually do better than both of them so...? still, in another series this wouldve had a massive conflict edit & im glad pdj doesn't really do that. sad mitsuki & serina didn't get much screentime, i think mitsuki should've gone for antifragile actually, she needed to be on a team where the styling would've worked with her & allowed her to show more of a charming side on stage (friend that i watched LOVED her in cheer up, made me pause to figure out who the "gorgeous regina george lookalike" was.)

hero: ando yui is my daughter but i have to admit that she has a tendency towards shouting some notes. still, i feel like she has a ton of potential and im glad that she got to redeem herself after the audition. tsuzumi is basically in and she 100% knows it, so it's interesting to see how she's dealing with it. more than anyone else in the top it seems to really be impacting her, but she also seems to have a lot of close friends on the show who understand & are supporting her. to be honest, i usually don't like contestants like mayu but...idk. i see a lot in her but im not sure why. it seems like voters are starting to get serious so her rank has dropped a lot but i i'll miss her when she's eliminated. i hope there's some opportunity for her beyond the show.

wa da da: kind of sick that no one chose wa da da 😭 the stage was pretty messy in my opinion but mana did great, she's such a performer. personally ranka isnt one of my picks but i like her intensity a lot & she definitely deserved her rank. i don't think this is her moment exactly but i could see her being recruited somewhere after this. she would suit a kind of dramatic vibe. karen is interesting to me because while she doesn't dance well i found that she really fit the stage. i also love her attitude. there's no way she won't rise but im not sure that itll be enough. last and least,

shine a light: im a big jo1 fan but i knew this wasn't gonna go great from the outset. the energy of the original song is part of what makes it so good so the fact that they removed that.....i also think it's kind of notable that hina said that she didn't want it to be a ballad and was kind of steamrolled........anyways. we saw the performance. i've always said that i wanted hazuki to get more screentime & establish herself and this was her chance but...rip. from the second her voice cracked it was over for the whole team. every single person messed up except for hina. i know that this wasn't a super strong vocal group but it's so sad that they did the worse they've ever done on stage. i expect hina's rank to continue to rise, and hazuki in particular will fall (not because she was the worse but because she has the smallest fanbase & isnt insulated from mistakes like some of the top contestants). curious about what will happen with chiharu because honestly...no one really expected her to sing super well and she was gorgeous so. we'll see

member commentary

change is always possible but this is my stable top 4. rino & ran's teams weren't in this episode but it's a very good sign that rino still got screentime singing well & being a good leader. not thrilled that her rank dropped (14 → 17) and there are a lot of strong contenders in the early teens right now. in truth, i think some of them would be a much better fit for a spin off project (which have much higher success rates than the ones from korean produce) & rino would make more sense in top 11 but that's neither here nor there.

mana, as i said earlier did sooooo well in wadada, although im curious as to what she would've picked had she been given a real choice. im hoping her rank will rise - she didn't get a push in this ep but she was significantly more visible than a lot of her teammates so fingers crossed.

serina is just a good [potential] idol. i was surprised that she went for dance since her vocals are what i noticed first but she pulled off run run well. i wouldve picked shine a light or even antifragile for her though. unfortunately she got very little screentime & storyline but i'm sure run run will win so maybe that 20k will help maintain her spot.

call me crazy but im so so sure that these three will be recruited by lapone for a gg after the show. with the top 11 having skewing less cute im hoping that this becomes a reality bc these three fit eachother more than they fit momona/nano/ran/rin/etc. oda aruha (and maybe moro anon) would be here too but alas.

people i'd like to have seen in this ep

rin is riding a wave right now and she needs momentum to stay top 11. looking at the ranks now, kokona dropped 10 places (19 → 29) 🙃 rinon & ayano are fine, but i wanted to see them keep momentum as well. i like akiyama ema for some reason but to survive she desperately needs screentime and a good performance. I'm even more worried about tsukushi - her dropping from 18th to 31st after doing incredibly well is kind of insane. what i've said about tsukushi needing a storyline in the past still stands. i can already tell that her part in bijin will be great but with rinon & keiko im not sure what her screentime potential is.

no surprises here, although im not sure what the voting has been reduced to? if it's only 5 i'd have to go with mana, rino, rin, serina, and then alternate kokona, yui, and mayu. i know that the "this person is safe so i wont vote for them" logic is flawed but i can't help it. good thing intl fans cant vote so this isn't a real concern! 🤪 /s

ep 6 semi-realistic top 11

only change is that i replaced kokona with joa. i have to say, im not thrilled about how many "givens" there are this season. it's not that i dislike them but it makes for a kind of boring top 11, at least until we get to 1 & 2 pick voting. rin was a nice surprise but i think the production has been pretty mask off about their picks. interestingly, i think it might bite them in the butt that momona & kokoro in particular don't actually get that much screentime. for people who are seeing them through the show for the first time (and also dont keep up with twitter discourse) probably feel that their ranks came out of nowhere. ran has gotten good screentime but she's definitely also buoyed by her original fanbase. miu, joa, & tsuzumi have good screentime & storylines so when joa goes up to top 11 i won't be surprised. rin had a good storyline so she makes sense. ayane doesn't get very much screentime but her voice does the brunt of the work. nano is a (capable) visual pick but she doesn't have a storyline. suzu has had a fanbase since the theme song but i expect her to fall a little honestly. we'll see. keiko is new to the top 11 this ep, i hope they reveal the actual ranks this time because that will influence my thoughts. keiko has great screentime and a litle bit of storyline so her rising makes sense. kokona is interesting to me because her rank is so stable based on not very much honestly. i don't dislike her but her lack of expressiveness on stage is probably something they'll try to build a storyline out of later.

i have a lot of confidence that rino will debut elsewhere after this but in the interest of creating a group i would actually like...

how would one get into fountain pens and inks ?? i’ve never liked using those 50 pens for a dollar types and only used fountain pens at school . honestly i’d love if you infodump at me about your favs pens, inks and how the tiktoks only show those glass pens with the swirls that slowly drip off ink and not any love for pens that hold ink themself

yaa sure!! and firstly i wanna say the reason you see a lotta glass dip pens on tiktok is simply because they are pretty and people think they are cool. dip pens have a lot of neat benefits of their own! dont let the bad app make u bitter abt em! (for example dip pens let you use a muuch wider range of inks made out of pigments that a fountain pen couldn't handle!)

but i digress. getting into fountain pens usually starts with an affordable one! (or a fancy hand me down if you're lucky!) jetpens & gouletpens are good shops to find fountain pens, and you may be lucky enough to live near a stationery shop that carries them, who knows!

generally good pens to start with are cheap enough that you won't feel too bad if it doesn't turn out to be your favourite but still a smooth writer. they should feel good in the hand and be refillable (since we are talking about avoiding disposable pens! but disposable fountain pens do exist.) generally these pens are in the $10-$30 range, but some cheaper pens like the platinum preppy and jinhao shark will surprise you!

especially worth taking into account with starting to get into pens is the nib size and filling mechanism!

nib size:

fountain pens generally come in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and Double Broad nib sizes, although there are other fancy ones like stub, flex, cursive, and left handed ones. (i am left handed and don't use them, so don't worry too much about that if you are.)

generally western nibs run a little broader than Japanese nib sizes, so keep that in mind when choosing a pen!

personally i find that finer nibs are more useful for me drawing-wise, and i enjoy broader nibs for writing (especially since i tend to draw in black and write in pretty colours i want to see more of!) this just applies to me of course ^u^

filling mechanisms:

fountain pens can come with ink cartridges (sometimes universal and sometimes proprietary) which tend to be a good choice for folks that like mess-free easy ways to reink a pen even when you're out and about. they do limit your selection of inks, though!

cartridge pens can usually be converted to piston fill/squeeze fill pens with a compatible converter, and some even come with one by default (like the jinhao shark!) some fountain pens (like TWSBIs) have a piston fill mechanism integrated into the entire barrel. (they have a very big ink capacity!) these converters/pens allow you to use any fountain pen ink you like, and also help make pen cleaning easier as you can take up and flush out water with it.

another type of fountain pen is eyedropper fill - where the entire barrel is watertight and you simply fill it with ink via eyedropper (or god forbid just pouring the ink from the bottle into it lol) these kinds of filling mechanisms are a lot messier and are generally done at home since you might not wanna bring ink bottles and paper towels along wherever you go, especially if they're big. some pens can be converted to eyedropper fill by making the barrels watertight with silicone grease on the threads & plugging any breather holes.

fun fact! ink cartridges are much more popular in europe, and bottled inks are more popular in america. idk why!

in terms of my favourite fountain pens, i very much like the TWSBI ECO/ECO T, LAMY safari, platinum preppy/plaisir, kaweco sport, and jinhao shark! they're all great and come in lots of fun colours and i want more twsbis so bad aaa

ok this is getting long but lets talk about inks!! im dying to talk about inks can we talk about inks

i already went over the difference between pigment and dye based inks here, so let's talk about what to think of when choosing an ink and also some of my favs!!

picking out an ink for your pen should consist of at least 3 factors!

make sure you are looking for fountain pen ink! (drawing inks & dip pen inks will clog a fountain pen!)

what colour do you want!!! (as a tip, light colours look even lighter when reduced to the fine line of a pen, and can sometimes be rather disappointing or hard to see. stick to broader nibs for those!)

do you need it to be water and/or highlighter proof?

most online shops let you filter to find what you're looking for, and most irl shops have sample cards for you to look through (while they may not show you about the waterproof part, generally the people working there should be able to tell you about it! most of the shops ive been to are staffed by fellow enthusiasts!)

aside from that you really can go nuts! there are inks with shimmer, inks that are suuuper bold and solid, some that vary in shade (and hue!) and some that develop a metallic sheen around the edge!

as for my favourite inks, i really like these and heres why!

pilot iroshizuku: they have some REALLY pretty colours. plus the bottles are big and very pretty!

Diamine: these inks come in some absolutely luscious colours (and TONS of sparkly shimmery options) and are known for being very consistently good performers across all their colours.

sailor: these inks are fancy and preddy and smell good to me wehehe

j. herbin: they make a green i really like >:) and also are popular for being good inks im pretty sure!

special extra shoutout to ferris wheel press: i havent actually gotten an ink from them i truly love yet (ive only ever tried a sample set of pastels and i like my inks darker) but their bottles are truly to die for.

you weren’t going to lie when you said you were nervous, horribly nervous. many things could go wrong today, but still it was your first date ever in months. you should be glad you were even invited right? after the call you had with chishiya during the night you felt somewhat more relieved. he ended up waking you up with his loud ass alarm, yet it wasn’t that bad since you got to talk about your plans for the day which helped you calm down.

truth to be told, you could only ever fall asleep on call with chishiya and chishiya only. hell not even your own brother. but that aside, you had agreed with karube to meet up at shibuya station at 5 it was currently 4:30.. you had checked your outfit several times just to make sure nothing was wrong. it looked cute but not too exaggerated, did he even think of it as a date?

you were over here giggling and laughing because you believed it was a date, but was it really? maybe he just wanted to hang out as friends, maybe he just wanted to catch up. i mean, after all you had been absent for several months. your thoughts were cut short when you heard a knock coming from your room's door. the only person home was arisu, thinking it was him you opened it.

surprise surprise there was karube with literal flowers in his hand, an actual bouquet now. your eyes widened at his sight, he looked so.. pretty, so?!??? breath taking.. as silly as it sounded he was out of his casual t shirts and jeans he was actually dressed to impress.

“[name]” he greeted you first as he took a good look at your outfit, and shit you looked beautiful. you smiled at him and shook your head “i thought we were meeting at shibuya station?” he laughed knowing he lied about ending his shift at 4, he was actually off today. he had spent the entire morning trying to find a good outfit and some flowers to give to you. that reminded him, he handed you the flowers speaking once again.

“well, I decided to take a little shortcut” you smiled at his words and took the flowers from his hand, placing them in an empty base. “shall we go?” he asked, stepping aside from the doorway so you could exit your apartment. “I say we shall” you intertwined your arms giggling at the use of words.

“it should be about 20-30 minutes to get there” this time you weren't even going to complain about the walk, you were just glad you had a date.

karube was right. it took 30 minutes to get there, although it was worth it since he talked to you all the way to the amusement park. he shared a lot about himself which made you happy since you knew more about him now. “well what do we do? want to walk around first or eat?” it didn’t really matter for you since all you wanted was to have a good day with karube.

“whatever seems best for you, I don’t mind” karube thought for a second deciding what to do first, in an instant he answered “let’s eat first yeah? there’s this 5 star restaurant around here.” 5 star!? like fancy kind of restaurant?? there’s no way you would make karube pay for an expensive meal.

“WHAT?? IS IT LIKE EXPENSIVE??” you were worried about karubes wallet.. “what? no i don’t think so.. anyway even if it was you deserve a good meal” he said those words without a worry in the world. “why don’t we just get some mcdonald’s..” you offered instead.

“nah, it’s all good, c'mon let’s go find it” he took your hand and started walking in the direction of the restaurant. it was the first time you had held his hand for more than 5 minutes, other times it was just your arms linking, this sent you into an overthinking mess. thankfully, karube didn’t pay one bit of attention to your reaction, still looking ahead. it didn’t take you guys much before actually spotting the restaurant and getting a seat.

“What are you going to get?” karube asked, grabbing the menu left on the table. “i’m not s-” your eyes widened at the prices, $20 for a soup!? and it wasn’t even a big bowl.. “karube, i really don’t think we should eat here..”

“hm? why not, the food seems good” he wasn’t even bothered about the prices?? guess you wouldn’t be able to change his mind. you quietly looked through the menu frowning since everything was pretty much the same price for a small amount. the only thing that was slightly cheaper was a plate of takoyaki.

thank god it was even cheap at a 5 star restaurant, anyway you weren’t as hungry so 8 balls would for sure fill your half empty stomach. by the time you were done thinking about your choices the waiter came by and asked if you were ready to order. both you and karube agreed and ordered, you thought maybe after the food arrived you would be able to get to know the blond in front of you even more.

yet, everything seemed to go by fast, the ordering the eating, not even a small spark of conversation happened. truly, it was awkward, but could you blame karube? he was probably just too hungry to try and have a small talk. the date came to a great start, where did all that go?

you thanked karube as he payed the bill, you didn’t even want to know how much it was considering the amount of food ordered. “we can explore the park now if you’d like, there’s souvenir stores too” karube said as he exited the restaurant holding the door for you to step out.

“let’s walk around the park for a little yeah? let’s get a water first tho.. im pretty thirsty..” not to mention throughout the whole meal karube didn’t bother to ask if you wanted anything to drink. it’s okay tho!! he probably just forgot to ask, at least you wanted to believe. restaurant was too expensive anyway..

“oh! i have one in my backpack, I also brought snacks if you want” he pointed towards his back telling you to grab it from there “thank you, do you want one?” the conversation was running smoothly yet it felt so forced? rushed? awkward?.. maybe all of them..

“we can share one” as in, share the same bottle, as in an indirect kiss? “sure..” if kuina was here right now she would have probably scolded you from how dumb you were being, but c'mon an indirect kiss, first kiss ever!?? (it wasn’t your first kiss, just a bad memory..)

you agreed and took the bottle from his backpack, opening the top. the blush was increasingly creeping to your already rosy cheeks as he took the bottle from your hands when you handed it to him. he didn’t seem bothered by the thought of an indirect kiss, maybe he just didn’t care.

oh but he did care, a lot actually, he just wanted to seem cool in front of you. you were snapped out of your thoughts when he spoke up again “we can walk around now, there’s also a ferris wheel near” karube pointed towards a map that was visible on his phone, the online page of the theme park. “THERE'S A FERRIS WHEEL??” you absolutely loved ferris wheels, especially when you could share the moment with someone.. karube stared at you and, suddenly realizing you shouted that a little too loud making people turn to you, you looked away slightly embarrassed.

“pfft, do you want to walk there? it’s not that far” he laughed at your reaction yet he seemed happy about your sudden interest. “lead the way” the moment was perfect to ride the ferris wheel, the sun was setting and fireworks would be happening in 20 minutes, it would give you both enough time to walk there and get on a pod and reach the top for a good view.

you both walked hand in hand enjoying the ambiance of the park, everything was so lively. the date might have started a little on the wrong side but it changed as quickly as it began. his hands were so rough yet warm, it brung you a small feeling of comfort. maybe this was really love you felt, love for your brothers best friend, what a joke.

anyway you would clear your suspicions with kuina and chishiya the next time you see them, they always seemed to know what to say when you came to them for advice. “that’s.. pretty high up” karubes words brought your attention to the ride in front of you. even more perfect, the higher the better for a good view right?

“that’s perfect! we can watch the fireworks from up there!!” you clung into his arm with excitement. he could only smile and laugh at how thrilled you looked.

it took about 5 minutes to get a seat in a pod, the wheel started moving and you stood up to see the view from all the way up, karube chuckled as he watched you, from his view he got a good angle at your face. he was happy seeing you smile so brightly, it made him glad you were enjoying your date, hangout.

the wheel stopped right at the top making you jump in joy, perfect timing since the fireworks were just about to start. you sat back down right in front of him, you took your attention from the window to him. to your surprise, he was staring right at you, and just like that bright lights appeared in the sky exploding and making different shapes, and as cliche as it may sound, right behind him a pink heart appeared outlining his shape.

your eyes widened in surprise, your heart fluttered at the view in front of you. it was possibly even better than the view from your current position in the pod. you were for sure you were head over heels for daikichi karube.

the day finally came to an end, after getting off the ferris wheel and enjoying a small walk around the park you got karube to get in a photo booth with you to take pictures. a special picture to remind you of today. right before leaving karube got you both drinks, milk to be exactly. a chocolate milk, maybe yeah it wasn’t your favorite but you still appreciated his kind gesture.

“thank you for the invite today karube, I had a lot of fun” he hummed at your words with a grin on his face as he looked down at your taken photos. you stopped at your doorstep as he waited for you to go inside, “say hi to arisu for me, have a good night [name]” he gave you a small wave.

maybe you were reaching way farther than you would originally but fuck it, right before going inside you walked back to karube who was standing several steps away from you. in an instant you placed both of your hands on each side of his face and pulled him towards you. another small kiss on his opposite cheek from the last one. “goodnight karube” you quickly turned back and closed the door. thank god arisu wasn’t home to see your current condition.

your legs gave out in embarrassment, since when had you become so bold..

arisu was just arriving at his apartment as he saw his friend outside his door with a hand on his right cheek. “karube?” he asked approaching him, he was dressed completely different from his normal outfits, strangely enough. “arisu, hi” karube turned to him trying to hide his flustered state, “what are you doing? it’s 10.. and why are you dressed so fancy?” arisu had somewhat of an idea of what his blond friend was doing but he wanted to be proven wrong.

“i just came to drop off [name]” ah, that’s right, even if he wanted to be proven wrong he wasn’t going to be. he should feel happy for his sister yet the thought of his best friend and his sister going out bothered him. he wanted to be happy for you, but knowing how karube is and how he handles things he wasn’t exactly very sure of your relationship. “stop playing around with [name] like that if you aren’t serious about it.”

“what?..” karubes smile suddenly dropped at arisus words “you know perfectly what i mean karube, last time you did this you lead the poor girl on, I don’t want that to happen with my sister” as much as he loved his friends his sister was far more important. “it’s not like that-” karube couldn’t even finish his sentence before arisu walked right past him, opening his apartment door and talking over him before closing the door disappearing. “it better not be”. harsh..

that very night arisu and kuina teamed up to make the relationship fail, hopefully..

I’ll bring Chishiya back soon i just need to make more scenes with karube for the sake of the plot </3 but I can assure you this isn’t a karube x reader so 🤭. I also probably failed my test today hahah, hopefully tumblr doesn’t mess up my post otherwise i will cry. Thank you so much! Yeah, we always loved giving characters a bit of a darker twist to their personalities, but honestly with the Tweels it’s way too natural and pretty much canon in a lot of ways lol We really really love this about them. When it comes to cruel, unfair, messed up and freaky scenarios, they’re the perfect fit. I’m glad you like it!

To answer your question, well these two are unpredictable, but in general I feel like they don’t like being touched. Or rather, they would prefer to be the ones who’s petting, because they’re annoying like that lol But who knows, sometimes they might even demand petting.

It starts with Ace and Deuce (I can't believe Ace was part of this and I didn't remember. RIP I him guess) brushing their teeth before lights out, Ace is done but Deuce reminds him of some insane rule like "You gotta brush twice on tuesdays" or something and Ace laughs it off, not like Riddle will know except Trey is there and tells them he won't tell Riddle if they do it right and does the mouth inspection. Deuce just gives a confued "Um??" while Ace calls him out like "That is NOT in the rulebook", it causes Trey to realise he's letting his Weirdness(tm) show and he explains that his siblings are young enough that playfully making sure they brushed properly is normal and he just kinda did it on instinct. Though Trey does offer to "help" the boys brush their teeth after that, it then ends with Trey "accidentally" doing another oral inspection on the boys and this time the noises/reactions they have doe imply he did something to their mouths ("Awough?!" reads more like the noise of something being put in your moth than a simple "Um" at least) so....

Thanks for the recap and for bringing this whole thing up! We watched the vignette, and oh god…

The more I look at Trey, the more “a psycho pervert who learned how to pretend to be a normal human being” sounds like something that could describe him lol Some people (like Ace or Vil) keep sensing that there is something sus about him, some people (like Rook or Idia) know for the fact that there is something wrong about him, and some people just think that he is a swell fellow that’s always very supportive and caring and wouldn’t do anything weird (like Deuce and Riddle) and I absolutely love it lol

The fact that Trey just kept going “oops sorry it’s a habit”, like is this that much of an automatic thing to you??

Mister Clover, don’t put your fingers in their mouths… alright, you can keep it in Deuce’s.
