The EL Nino effect known to suppress the monsoon rainfall and increase the surface temperature has taken over the globe, the global temperature soared to an average of 17.01°C on 3rd of July, Monday being smashed within the next 24hrs the temperature was recorded to be 17.18°C on 4th of July, Tuesday.
The IMD reported many cities in India have been suffering from adverse heatwaves. The northern state of Bihar and West Bengal have been recorded to suffer from extreme heat for 15 consecutive days in the month of June.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Telangana for the next three days predicting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the parts of the state until July 28th. The Hyderabad MET department issued an orange alert on Tuesday and a red alert was issued from Wednesday to Friday in several districts including Warangal, Mahabubabad, Rangareddy, Hanumakonda, Khammam, Sangareddy, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Medak, Vikarabad and Kamareddy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPJltb7n3qk With incessant rains, several parts of the state are facing water logging issues. For the second consecutive day, Hyderabad has witnessed huge traffic in the evening with the rains pouring down during office exit hours. The department has also advised the officials to stay alert as there can be drainage logging issues, and concerns of trees, and electric poles getting uprooted amid heavy downpours. In the past 24 hours, Nizamabad witnessed the highest rainfall of 464mm and Charminar witnessed rainfall of 79mm.

IMD Issues fresh rainfall warning. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are on orange alert
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of North and Central India in the next five days. As per the notification, the west coast will receive enhanced rainfall while the three would be heavy rainfall over parts of northwest India, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next 2 days.
The IMD has also issued heavy rainfall alerts for Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh where heavy rainfall chances are at peak on 16th and 17 July. The two states are under orange alert.
On Sunday, Vikram Singh, Director, Meteorological Department, Dehradun said, “There is a possibility of more rainfall in Uttarakhand on July 16 and 17. For today, a red alert has been issued in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Haridwar districts and an orange alert has been issued for the remaining districts. There will be a slight reduction in rainfall on July 18."
The IMD said that states including  Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Uttar Pradesh as well as Chandigarh will have heavy rainfall today whereas states including West Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan will have heavy rainfall for the next four days.
 On Sunday, M Mohapatra, director general at the weather office said, “For the next week, we can expect active monsoon over central India. A low-pressure area has developed while another cyclonic circulation will develop around Tuesday. These will lead to good rainfall and may cover the rain deficiency over central and peninsular regions.”
“The western disturbance will also continue to bring rain to north India,” he added.

After a brief break of nearly two weeks, the monsoon rains resume in Mumbai, bringing a respite from the heat and humidity. According to reports, Mumbai and its neighbouring cities have witnessed moderate rains during midnight; however, it's still being continued in some areas. 
Owing to this, water logging in parts of Mumbai due to heavy rainfall in the city. Visuals from King Circle has been doing rounds on social media.
Taking it to Twitter, on Wednesday, August 3, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rains for next two or three days in the city. On the other hand, the weather department had earlier predicted proper rains again from August 5 with strengthening of low level westerlies over west coast.
"Mumbai has been experiencing very hot, humid weather for the past few days. With no rain and high humidity levels, the discomfort index (DI) is very high and it is becoming unbearable. Mumbaikars are waiting for rain. Chance of rain in next 2-3 days in Mumbai. So take care of health and keep yourself hydrated," tweeted KS Hosalikar, IMD head scientist Pune.
As per the weather department, while overall scattered rainfall activity was noticed all over Mumbai since morning, it is expected to stay for one more at least and won't be very heavy. If reports are to be believed, rains were more in Andheri, Bandra East, Worli, Parel, Byculla, Chembur. Whereas it rained mod-heavily in Mira Road, 13 mm in last hour.
Meanwhile, it is pertinent to note that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared July as the wettest month across the nation after 2005, as the rainfall recorded during the month was 16.9 per cent higher than normal.

Tansa lake which supplies water to Mumbai started overflowing after heavy rainfall. Out of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai, Tansa Lake started overflowing today at 8.50 pm. The lake has a total of 38 gates, out of which nine gates have been opened till 9.50 pm, said BMC After the Modak Sagar lake reservoir started overflowing yesterday, now Tansa Lake also started overflowing out of the 7 lakes that supply water to Mumbai, during this monsoon season, Two lakes are now overflowing at full capacity. Due to continuous heavy rains in the catchment area, over the past few days, the water level of the reservoirs has increased rapidly, said a government official. In another incident in Palghar on Wednesday, a landslide was reported in the Vasai area. Two people were killed in the incident while the another two were rescued. Maharashtra Chief Minister expressed his grief over the incident and took note of the situation. "The relatives of the deceased will be provided Rs 4 lakh each from Palghar District Collector's Natural Disaster Fund and Rs 2 lakh each from Vasai Virar Corporation. Besides, he instructed the concerned administration to pay Rs 50,000 each to the injured for treatment," tweeted Eknath Shinde.
