when things ended with former shows and interests (either cause of shit writing or cancellation), I always found it hard to go back to rewatches because it kinda felt like pressing down on a wound yknow? Happy to report that this is not true of ofmd and I experienced the same queer joy when I rewatched my favourite bits today and went down the rabbit hole of my gifsets and art that the fandom has created, weirdly healing actually ❤️

Hello I made you some more art!! IDK Why your little guys have just stuck in my brain as of late but yeah I'm just on a roll I guess!

This piece was inspired by wondering who was present around Machete's assassination, and how people around him would react to his downfall. So I had the idea for a portrait of a final lover's embrace, as Vasco holds his dying beloved in bloodsoaked arms.

I tried my best with the clothing -- especially the shoes -- and I think I did a pretty good job but BOY were they hard! XD Anyways, I hope you like this one, it was a blast to draw! I love machete sm istg <3

I know I'll be agonizing over this piece for a while #some potentially upsetting lore musings!! violence and tragedy and stuff: #I haven't cemented the chain of events yet but I believe he was ambushed by a single assailant when he was alone #either early in the morning or late evening #he didn't manage to put up much of a fight that time the first stab punctured a lung and the second nicked a carotid artery #I believe you lose consciousness in a minute or so and generally bleed out in less than three #Vasco wouldn't have been informed of the murder because why would he be and even if he somehow found out very quickly #the distance between Rome and Florence is roughly 250 km don't quote me on this but it looks like it'd take at least 4 days on horseback? #I think but I don't know how horses work to be honest #maybe they had some sneaky correspondence going on but if there was a pause in communications it wouldn't have been a cause for concern #so it's highly likely he'd only find out when he rolled in town for another business trip #and Machete had been buried weeks or months ago

i know at the end of last ep I was so excited about the pc dynamics being shaken up, so what i'll say is that this has gone above and beyond. pc dynamics in a full BLENDER. chetney's ex is casting death ward on him. fcg is meeting another aeormaton and being roasted for his coin faith. imogen is having her laughter played back to her and being given reassurances about her goodness. everyone thinks fearne is hot. i said "shaken up" and am now witnessing half of bell's hells whizzing around in a food processor.

Lately, I’ve been getting triggered like a short circuit, immense sadness with a river full of tears, agitated crawling skin, hopelessness of self-destruction, rage inducing fist to a hard surface. It’s wholeheartedly overwhelming. Phrases, words, actions, visual cues, sounds. When I try to restrain, my hands tremble, my chin quivers, my voice breaks, struggle to hold back tears. it's amazing how much Kaz believes in and counts on the power of love and family in his scheming even when he pretends to not care:

thinking Wylan would be a good hostage against Van Eck and not believing Wylan when he said his dad would happily see him die

kidnapping Alys to trade her for Inej

being resentful that Per Haskell sees himself as a sort of father to the Dregs but using it to his own advantage anyway

letting Wylan go out to Olendaal to find his mother because he "needed him righteous" rather than angry

protecting Jesper's dad with his own family's name and reputation

leveraging Pekka's love for his son in order to ruin Pekka's reputation and force him to flee Ketterdam

getting Sturmhond to find Inej's parents and bring them to Kerch

As big of a game as he talks about "only worshipping money," Kaz genuinely believes that everyone around him cares about their family in some capacity and wants them safe (because 'family' is something that's defined his own life for so long as he's sought revenge and justice for his brother's death), and nearly every time he's caught flat-footed during the duology it's because he underestimated someone's capacity for basic cruelty towards those they're "supposed" to care about.
