make a post with some examples of events n stuff at pride to show the kids who never went that it's really. really not JUST the parade.

bc i feel a lot of them think that's what it's all about and that's one of the reason why they feel those one or two floaters with the kinky ppl on them would be this HUUUUGE unavoidable-if-you-go-to-pride thing that makes them be afraid of the event altogether. which in return plays into the hands of all the ppl who like the community nealty split up into boxes and discoursing about each other's validity instead of realizing that it's a community first and foremost.

so yeah.

#in case ur wondering bc i wasn't clear: #imo kink belongs at pride - it was there before i even was born and it's a part of queerness #but other ppl already made way better posts about the reasoning behind #that than i ever could #and ppl who don't want to see or don't want their kids to see the kinky stuff need to take care of that themselves #just like. u know. fandom ppl take care of themselves when avoiding triggers #by not reading fics tagged with their triggers and being aware that Creator Chose Not To Use Warnings fics might not be for them #but when pride is made out to be JUST about the parade where queer folks proudly show they exist and celebrate that #it probably seems to a lot of folks uncomfortable with kinky stuff for whatever reason that Pride is Not For Them at all #and that's bullshit #i've went to pride in my city several times by now without once even seeing the parade #and the only kinky folks i saw were some dudes in leather masks hanging out at the alcohol serving tents #and i was pretty much actively looking for them bc i always turn my head when i see someone wearing tight leather :P #so yeah. #own #queer #pride
