This is how people and organizations behave in the world. By logging external goals and logic and finding out internal goals and logic, you can predict motivations and actions of a person or organization.

The difference between the planes of motivation and actions are the impetus. The difference between the internal and external are how present to others externally and how you operate internally. The difference between the logic and goals is how you reason and methodology versus what you work for and act towards.

We often present external reasoning and actions to others as our internal reasons and goals motivating us when they aren’t aligned at all. Often our reasoning and goals aren’t aligned either.

To have power, reasoning and logic as well as explanations and goals should be aligned. Actions should follow your own motivations.

To reduce power of a person or organization, they confuse your reasoning and explanations with your methods and actions. Have your methods and actions be aligned with their reasoning and explanations instead.

To gain power for yourself, know what your actions are and have that match your motivations and identify the impetus from one to the other. You will be able to refine your motivations into your actions and align your logic/methodology with your explanations/goals.

By finding other with the same motivations, you can cooperate with your actions. By finding a shared impetus, you can cooperate even when motivations are different.

Sometimes shared motivations have different actions because the reasoning is different even if the goals are shared. By not getting in each other’s way and working towards the same goals, you can achieve the change you want in the world and the change you want internally in parallel.

Impetus can be a catalyst or encouragement or abstract system that you work in.

This is a work in progress that had the impetus of a diner conversation with my friend Nico over lunch. Let me know what you think.
