As much as I love Bilbo eventually ending up as “Uncle Bilbo” to Fili and Kili, I equally think he’d be completely out of his depth at first. Yes, he becomes Frodo’s uncle down the line, but 1) that’s a good while later and 2) he’s still very much the “weird uncle” in that situation, too.
So yes, absolutely give me Uncle Bilbo! But also Bilbo being uncomfortable at first with the idea of having close family once again. Bilbo resisting the urge to push the others away under the Shire mask of politeness and to genuinely let them become close to him. (Really, the whole idea of letting people in despite of — or because —they’re worth caring for no matter the chance of loss during the quest.) Bilbo really not wanting to screw things up, and Thorin reassuring him that no one really knows what they’re doing at first, but the fact that he cares is enough.
At the end of it, though, Bilbo would be a good uncle and would 100% lean into the “weird uncle” title LOL.

These all sound awesome but I’m hugely interested in Gollum’s Song 👀
Ohh, this is one im actively working on. Bilbo is recovering at Beorn's the Grief of Thorin's death wegihing on him heavily. At the back of his mind is the thing, the creatur. The one he was going to ask Thorin to help him figure out, but now he supposed he would have to do it on his ow. His own side quest, and if it killed him, well at least his heart wuldnt break every time he woke alone. Snippet:
“Come now Master Bunny, it is cold out and you will get ill again.” Beorn said in his no nonsense way as Bilbo allowed himself to be ushered away back into the house.
Bilbo decided to move his bedroll to the same alcove he and Thorin had shared and curled up together in, sleep was a long time coming, this night and many more after. It was a long, dark winter, with more waking hours than sleeping ones that grated on Bilbo’s thoughts and feelings.
This meant that Bilbo had a long time to think about things, things he had put to the back of his mind, what with the Quest, things he hadn't had the time to worry over.
He decided he needed the rest of the winter to get strong again, to eat well and heal as well as he was able, he had a new Quest to go on when the land thawed. A Quest he felt close to his heart, one he did not want to fail. Not like he had the last one."

Baby Frodo: Teach me how to fight! Thorin: *Makes fists* You don’t fight with these. Thorin: *Points to his head* You fight with this. [Later] Balin: Why has the hobbit lad been head-butting people? Thorin, nodding sagely: Ah, just as I taught him.

A Retelling of the Hobbit
Originally told by my younger brother, as written by my mother, and as transcribed by me. Enjoy!
—-
Once upon a time there lived a dwarf. The dwarf lived with a Hobbit. The Hobbit was a Baggins and the Dwarf was an Oakenshield. The Dwarf, Thorin Oakenshield, missed his mountain.
One day, Thorin said to the Hobbit, “Bilbo, would you lik to visit my home?”
Bilbo asked, “What Dwarf kingdom do you come from?”
Thorin said, “The Mines of Moria, where the Orcs stuck us in mud for two weeks then pulled us out and sent us away. We ran to the Misty Mountains. There, I met my grandfather, Thror. Thror is a mighty king who popped out of the grass with the tulips. Thror lives in the Misty Mountains and rules the city of Dale from his throne.”
Three days later, Thorin finally finished his rambling description of his home. Bilbo sighed thoughtfully, afraid to ask for directions and considered how long of a journey this could be.
Bilbo then screamed with excitement about the mountain. So they started on their journey to the Misty Mountains. On the way, they picked up two Dwarves that were their friends. Their names were Fili and Kili. Later on they picked up a guy named Gandalf, who was also on his way to the Misty Mountains.
So off they went through the wild beyond and open blue. Three days later they arrived in Rivendale, the land of the elves. They met Lord Elron. He knew the way to the pass of the Lonely Mountain. So off they went. As they traveled through the pass, they wandered into a goblin lair. The goblins were all asleep, snoring loudly. Then Bilbo tripped and the goblins awoke, at once aware of the intruders. The goblins immediately set the table to welcome their guests. The great big goblin leader asked the travelers to have tea with him and they all sat down to a festive feast. After the feast, the great big goblin showed them the way to the Misty Mountain and they continued their journey, waving bye to their new goblin friends.
On their way, they could see in the distance their long lost home. Crying big tears of joy, they ran to the entrance. Upon entering, they found Bombur, Owen, and Glowen, who had given away most of the treasure. Thorin didn’t care that he had very little treasure, he was happy to be home.
