I've been having an itch to draw again after a long while so I thought to find some half-used sketch books I have lying around. I've got a spot for sketch books so I opened it up - dust going everywhere - and pulled them out. Thinking, it probably won't happen but maybe I'll finally draw regularly and fill one of these past the first 3 pages for once.

I opened the sketchbooks to find the first blank page and. They were all completely full. At some point I had been drawing and drawing and drawing, filling these books, and I had forgotten. Just, completely blasted out of my head that I had ever drawn so much. OCs and so forth I hadn't thought about it years. It was a complete time capsule. Why did I stop drawing?

Also this means I have no blank sketchbooks at all now

anecdotally, when i was younger i used to buy crap from target's $3 to $10 section by the entrance all the time and inevitably it would end up being stuff i didnt want and got rid of anyway. buying more expensive and higher quality things means i buy things much more mindfully, let alone the impact it has economically and environmentally. this is not a new concept by any means but it took me embarrassingly long to stop buying into it

right exactly. amazon creates a world in which you are in a perpetual state of "at the register." and while you're "at the register" you are also in a constant state of "in the impulse section." you know, where gum and plastic knick knacks exists by the register? it's been it's own hellish cottage industry for as long as stores have existed. that target entrance is an impulse section moved to the front. and amazon creates a world that says "you can constantly be shopping in the impluse section wherever and whenever you are, isn't that great?" resist!!! because it isn't great!!!

disclaimer: this is how i personally budget based off my income & expenses. these numbers may not reflect everyone's abilities. im just posting for fun :)

🤍 I set aside $30 each month

🤍 I don't buy things until I sell something

🤍 I wait for coupons and good deals

🤍 When shopping from Japan, I consolidate my packages and choose slower shipping to save money

🤍 I give myself price limits. I don't spend more than $165 on dresses, $55 on blouses, and $45 on accessories.

🤍 If I see something I like, I'll wait a week and notice if I think about it again or not to avoid impluse purchases. If it sells by then, it wasn't meant to be!

🤍 I keep a list of my purchases and sales to stay on track

this list is from december 2023-march 2024. (hey! you said you only spend $165 on dresses, but you spent $200 there!) it was $165 without shipping! okay... i wasn't very smart with that one, but i know it's something ill keep forever! so shhhh...

results: I currently have $247 set aside for lolita fashion! technically, this is my budget for any hobby items and cute clothes, but it usually just ends up being for lolita :)

my thoughts on how felix would fall in love...

i feel like felix would know. like, from the get-go, he would have the typical butterflies in his stomach. he would know there is something about you. it could be your smile, your laugh, the way your eyes light up when you talk about your interests, the way you listen to people attentively, etc, etc. he just enchanted by you straight away. but he's an overthinker and questions if he's actually in love and being wayyy too implusive on his feelings or whether he's just kidding himself.

but the more interactions he has with you, the more he starts to appreciate you as a friend. you initial admiration has grown into something slower, more meaningful and beautiful. he enjoys the process of getting to know you and he notices you linger in his mind a lot more than he'd like to let on. when he goes shopping, he buys things that remind him of you. when he's on social media, he spams you with things he thinks you'll like.

he's caught himself multiple times just thinking about you in these ways. and he realises, as much as he denied it before, he is in love. and he's never felt happier.

What comics should I read for Impluse? I want to like him more so recommend me some comics series

Hi and thank you so much for stopping in.

I answered a very similar question here where I broke down Bart's solo series Impulse down to what I personally felt were the best issues and WHY.

If this is too much of a hassle however I feel it is important to at least read the entirety of Mark Waid's run.

#1-27 - Focuses on Bart's acclimating and sets the foundations down for his series. There is a distinct tone in this run that is absent from the rest of the series which makes this part of his books unique and important. If you read nothing else of Impulse at least read these issues.

We also have a FANTASTIC compilation of Impulse comics in TPB format that was released in 2019 called Flash/Impulse: Runs in the Family that collects the first 12 issues of Impulse along with supplemental issues from The Flash. In it you get Bart's beginnings in Manchester Alabama and you also get to meet Jenni! It's marked down significantly right now on Amazon (yuck, I know, buy this from your local store if you can or just... find it... somewhere). I've purchased this book three times...

Other TPB compilations exist such as Impulse: Reckless Youth (1997) that include his FIRST issues in The Flash as well as the first six (I think) issues of his own solo series. You can score this for about $15 on Ebay if you want something physical.

Everything that Bart has been in can be... found...

Following his solo series and his appearances in The Flash taking a stop into Young Justice (1998) wouldn't be a bad idea even if he is slightly mischaracterized.
