"Saint-Georges majeur au crépuscule (San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk)" (1908 - Claude Monet) / "Water-Lilies, Reflection of a Weeping Willow" (1916–1919 - Claude Monet)
SAINT-GEORGES MAJEUR AU CRPUSCULE (SAN GIORGIO MAGGIORE AT DUSK): the colours the colours. the way the brushstrokes soften the buildings but define the waves. the ethereal buildings. (@kaerran)
WATER-LILIES, REFLECTION OF A WEEPING WILLOW: Its just so cool to me bcs it looks so natural yet unnatural at the same time and it’s probably one of my favourite impresionist style paintings? Also what I love about seeing the actual piece is that you can see these bits of unpainted canvas and it makes the painting feel like a portal. I tried to draw it (like I normally do when I see an art piece I really like, especially at museums) and it just dosnt work. It’s amazing and it looks like a fairytale scene despite the fact Monet painted this from his backyard (@azurecake16)
("Saint-Georges majeur au crépuscule (San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk)" is an oil on canvas landscape painting by Claude Monet. It measures 65.2 cm × 92.4 cm (25.7 in × 36.4 in) and is on display at the National Museum Cardiff. A second version is owned by the Bridgestone Museum of Art in Tokyo.
"Water-Lilies, Reflection of a Weeping Willow" is one of Monet's later water-lily pieces. It is oil on canvas and measures 2 x 2m (6.56 x 6.56 ft), and is held by the Musée Marmottan Monet. This photo was taken by the submitter!)

last night I watched the first two episodes of "Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt" (2010) at long last because I've never seen it before
I went in leaving good taste at the door because I knew what to expect and indeed: this show is filth
the animation is stunning. (see FIG #1) it's like they somehow managed to get Genndy Tartakovsky's style down 1:1, with its impresionistic backgrounds and the way that foreground objects would be placed flat onto the background- typified by shots like FIG #2 (above) where the cars are drawn on the road in an impressionist rather than realistic manner
besides the animation this show is a non-stop cavalcade of debauchery
...which at this point I'm pretty open to, and I enjoy a bit of debauchery; especially after so many years of clean family entertainment; Panty is a hedonist after my own heart and I admired her immediately
apart from that this show is mostly spectacle but it's the kind of spectacle that makes the animator in me go completely ga-ga because it's just so amazing to look at.
the dog in this show HIGHLY resembles Gir's dog form. I guess they might've used Zim as a reference but they flew a littttle too close to it
Also- it's weird that this show is from 2010, I could've sworn it was maybe 2007 (concurrent with Trigger's & Gainax's Gurren Lagann) but no... it was actually last decade, even though it has something very 2000s about it.

(You dont need to publish this, its a bit more only for you) As a recent graduate art student i understand where you are comming from with being inspired by rum's style, you saw a style u loved! You want to draw like that! Every single artists goes trough this (half my classmates had anime styles) and i think its pretty cool that you found an artist that motivates you so much! But focusing on only "style" without an understanding of "fundamentals" can hinder you so much of whay you can do! (And using only one style inspiration can make it too recognizable and make the artist uncomfortable) heres what u can do to find your own style: using just one single source of inspiration can limit your own capacity! Try doing the excercise of doing a "moodboard" and then doing a list of what you like about each style, then, using the list as a guide experiment incorporating various things from different artists! Your own internal "voice" will start shining trough the more you deconstruct -what you like seeing in art-. Doing art studies is different from tracing, try doing "master studies"!. Try searching for artists that do things that you like but also, way out of your comfort zone you can find great inspiration (example: if you like renaissance artist try looking at impresionist artist)! Practice "pure" anatomy and gesture drawing a whooole lot, you will start feeling more confident! "Ethan Becker" has a good video explaining how to "practice with purpose" and Roko has great introduction to anatomy and lastly do what makes it fun for you, enjoy your art journey and i wish you the best of lucks!!
Thank you m8! This does make a whole lot sense now, in reality, I've actually been trying to look for my own art style, and it's coming along just great! So thank you for giving me this information, I'll look into these things you told me to look in, and your probably OR actually right. This might help me in the future with my art, thank you again for this tip (s)
