MWW Artwork of the Day (2/28/23) Georges Rouault (French, 1871-1958) At the Circus (The Mad Clown)(1907) Oil on cardboard, 75.1 x 57.1 cm. The Philadelphia Museum of Art (Louis E. Stern Collection)
Throughout his career, Rouault pursued a solitary artistic path outside the mainstream of the Parisian avant-garde. As a devoted convert to Catholicism in his twenties, he committed himself to figurative painting directed to religious purposes. His technical virtuosity and innovation were anything but traditional, however. Although Pierrot with a Rose is painted on paper rather than canvas, the oil is vigorously built up in many layers, accumulating in thick patches and long slashing strokes. Rouault exploited the application of thick layers of paint to impart a translucent glow to the colorful forms outlined in black, an effect harking back to his early training in making stained glass. Its lyrical mood and the device of painting a brightly patterned frame within the composition itself exemplify the decorative pleasure that came only at this late point in Rouault's career.
Rouault is one of the featured artists in this MWW gallery/album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.696228823815823&type=3

EXQUISITE ELEGANCE: A GLAMOROUS WANDERING THROUGH THE STREETS OF PARIS
Tumblr media
My trip into the magical world of Paris commenced with an indelible day at Kong Paris. The meal went far beyond sustenance to become an orchestra of tastes and sophistication. From the atmosphere to dishes, every detail made an imprint on my soul. Kong Paris became the symbol of culinary refinement, which determined a trip filled with astonishing moments.

The moment I entered the famous Opera Garnier, a flood of emotion engulfed me. The size and magnificence of the buildings, extravagance of furnishings, and reverberations from centuries of performances brought awe. Opera Garnier was not simply a place but embodied Paris’s thriving cultural legacy that made me gasp in amazement.

Hotel de Lassay greeted me with its timeless beauty, a sanctuary of luxury in the middle Paris. The grandeur of this noble dwelling, together with its elaborate furnishings, created an atmosphere that made the guest feel privileged. My visit to Hotel de Lassay gave me a glimpse of the city’s aristocratic heritage and I was charmed by its elegance.
Tumblr media
Palais Royal provided a peaceful sanctuary away from the chaotic city with its beautiful gardens and famous striped columns. The combination of classical architecture and modern art installations produced an environment that was somehow calm. Walking through the beautiful gardens, I deeply rooted myself in Paris’ historical and cultural fabric.

Musee d'Orsay, located in a former railway station and brimming with artistic genius. The sheer quantity of masterpieces, from Impressionism to Post-Impressionsm works, was too much for my senses. Each brushstroke was an eloquent word, and the museum became a chronicle of time in which I traveled through the history of art.

Chateau de Versailles, a monument of French monarchy enchanted me with its luxuriousness and vast green spaces. The Hall of Mirrors, the grandiosity of the palace and its perfectly manicured gardens revealed an elaborate historical canvas. It was a trip to the past, revisiting the magnificence of Louis XIV’s era.
Tumblr media
Hotel de Soubise was located in the Marais district and it had a quiet charm. This palace-turned museum is rather significant historically, along with the serene environment it offers; it was a refuge for history lovers. Walking through its grand chambers, I felt as a guest of honour in the past.

The Eiffel Tower was covered with snow one magical morning, and this turned the iconic landmark into a winter wonderland. The contrast between the beautiful building and white canvas of snow produced a magnificent sight. It was an image that stayed in my memory, immortalizing the Eiffel Tower with a hint of magic.

The Arc de Triomphe was high, and it stood there as a symbol of victory. In the shadow of its arches, I saw Paris in all her glory unfolding panoramically before my eyes with every landmark telling a tale about how resilient and persistent this city is. It was a timely reminder of the historical tapestry embedded in Paris’s fabric.
Tumblr media
My Parisian odyssey reached its perfect finale in Pink Mamma, an incredible place with a marvelous ambiance and delicious Italian food. The atmosphere was a feast for the senses as it had an eclectic decor, the smell of freshly baked pizza and conviviality. Pink Mamma was not just an eating place; it embodied the spirit of good food and togetherness, leaving me with a heart full of memories from my incredible journey across Paris.

Being in the second year of Art High School feels like knowing how to use watercolors, graphite pencils, watercolor pencils, charcoal pencils, all type of pastels, be able to draw impressionsm, realism, nature, still nature, being able to take measurements in that fancy way you see in movies, knowing how to represent transparent or opaque surfaces, and then not being able to draw an hand.

Almeida Júnior - A difficult errand, 1895, oil on canvas José Ferraz de Almeida Júnior (1850 – 1899) was a Brazilian artist and designer. Júnior enjoyed painting the people and their lifestyle of regional Brazil. Júnior's career began when the head priest of Church of Our Lady of Candelária in Itu recognised Júnior's talent and raised money for him to study at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts (1869). After completing his studies, Júnior returned to Itu and set up a studio. In 1876, Emperor Pedro II was so impressed with Júnior's work that he provided financial support, enabling Júnior to study in Paris at the École des Beaux-Arts. Junior eventually returned to Brazil in 1882 where he opened a studio in São Paulo and taught art privately.
