The truth is, loving the wrong person is soul crushing. The wrongness of it eats you alive and makes you feel so ashamed of everything you ever said or did. You’re drowning in an ocean of memories you wish you were never a part of. You continuously ask yourself how you didn’t see it or where you went wrong and for a brief few days you even blame yourself. But you shouldn’t. You didn’t do this. You are so far out of fault and you didn’t deserve to be treated the way you were. You got the sharp end of the knife of reality. It bites the best of us in the ass, but it tears the worst of us apart. And I thank goddess for that.

"You loved him so hard you forgot to hate yourself. You even began to get out of bed early instead of not at all just to see his lovely face. You were so busy loving him you didn't even notice all the wilted flowers inside of you were starting to grow back. And you were trying so hard to impress him that you finally cleaned up your mess of a life and maybe it wasn't spotless but it was still enough. You stopped slumping your shoulders and started looking people in the eye. He made you want to get better and you did, God, you did get better. His touch made you feel things you haven't been able to feel in a long time. You loved him so much you fell in love with yourself."

Note for you, heartbreaker

The thing about falling in love is that you do not usually get second or third chances. The thing about falling in love is usually get just one chance and when you mess up, it’s over. People with broken hearts do not usually give out chances. They are more careful, for they understand pain, they understand exactly how much a heart can hurt them when it is not handled correctly. But for a few lucky ones, they get a second chance. They are given a second chance. They can not unbreak the heart that they have broken, but they can repair it. They can not take back the hurt that they have inflected onto another human being but they can try and show them happiness. What I am trying to say is I am giving you a second chance. It is quite possibly one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but I am handing you the pieced of the heart that you had broken before, and I am trusting you to handle it more carefully than you did the last time. I am forgiving you for hurting me, I am letting go of what you did to me before. Life is not full of chances. I am not full of chances. I am giving you this chance because you realize that you did in fact make a mistake the first time around. I am handing you this chance and it is the last one I’ve got. Please use it well.
