#in a perfect world they would've been endgame

I too ship Zutara and think they should have been canon. Although for me it's important to know how such a rewrite would go down. I tried to think, and I'm lost.
After Mai betrayed Azula for him, will he just go "sorry, not interested"? He isn't obligated to date her because of this, but her redemption hinges on Zuko and I don't see it being satisfying if he ends up rejecting her after this.
I thought the solution would be to rewrite her arc in boiling rock to make her have a moral realization, but then the problem with Maiko is practically solved. Their relationship wasn't salvaged by her redemption because last time they talked, Mai still didn't understand what's wrong with the Fire Nation and only changed because she loved Zuko. So how do you make it both satisfying & logical?
With Kataang the problem is the Chakras. The problem with the original (in my opinion) is that after he opened his chakra, letting go of his attachment to Katara, he's still attached (forcing a kiss on eip). Should TCoD get rewritten so that Azula shoots him before he opens it? Then why wouldn't he just open it later? Maybe the chakra would be locked so he feels as though he doesn't need to overcome his attachment just yet. In that situation, how would his chakra even unlock? The stone thing felt like nonsense, so how would I do it?
So yeah I have no idea how to approach this. How would you? (Thanks)
I've been rotating this ask in the back of my head like a rotisserie chicken for a few days--it's interesting because I don't generally stop to think like, how would I write them out of these relationships, I either ignore the relationships completely (which isn't hard, they were barely footnotes in the cartoon) or play a little bit with jealous exes or something. Thinking about like, In A Perfect World where Bryke wasn't in charge of ATLA post-canon (because if zutara had been canon, you can be sure they would've made us regret it) is interesting, and I do have thoughts on how I'd handle their relationships in a rewrite.
(this got long, so the rest is beneath the cut)
Assuming you mostly want to keep canon intact, I think maiko would be the easiest to work around, given how little relevance their relationship has in canon. The problem with maiko as an endgame ship is that it was not set up that way--if it had been, it would not have begun entirely off-screen and their whole relationship would not have been a study in misery and utter inability to connect emotionally. His relationship with Mai was there to showcase just how much he had changed and how little he fit into the life he had been so sure he wanted more than anything since his banishment. It worked very well to highlight Zuko's growth--how that contrasted to Mai's lack of it and why she could not understand him even at his most open and vulnerable--and did not work nearly so well when she was shoved back with him in the epilogue, after he'd quite literally forgotten her existence (he never mentions her again after Boiling Rock, not even to say a word of mourning, considering he'd have every reason to believe she was killed for defying his sister).
I don't think you can fix this by giving Mai some moral realization, because there simply is no room for it. As @araeph says in the essay I linked:
As a character, Mai is very useful to the story during Zuko’s return, because she represents everything that Zuko gains by sticking by his father. A girl who cares about him; the ability to indulge her; the authority he has over others at the palace; we see it all in his interactions with Mai. But this makes Mai a tether to a life he has long outgrown. Her function is not to advance Zuko’s character development, but to obstruct it, which also unfortunately means that Mai gaining a full understanding of Zuko’s trials would be disadvantageous to the story. If she knew everything about him and still wanted him to stay, it would give Zuko more cause than he should have to remain in the Fire Nation, but if she knew and encouraged him to leave and join the Avatar, it would rob Zuko of the triumph of making this decision on his own. In other words, there are good narrative reasons for keeping Mai in the dark; it just doesn’t make their relationship any stronger.
The seeds of a genuine redemption arc (one that includes some sort of moral realization and change to her moral framework) for Mai would have to have been planted far earlier than five episodes from the end of the series, but doing so would have of necessity detracted from Zuko's own character arc and the realizations that he makes despite his attachment to Mai (or more specifically to their relationship, which I feel like he was clinging to more out of a sense of abject loneliness he couldn't shake rather than genuine feelings and emotional connection).
So, in my mind, since we're tackling this with an eye towards getting rid of maiko with the fewest ripples to the overall story anyway, the easiest way to do this would be make one slight change to the end of the Boiling Rock two-parter--have Ty Lee (who had always been the least gung-ho of the trio about bowing to Azula's whims and had to be textually threatened into joining her in the first place) save Zuko's life, and then have Mai (who showed the most genuine affection for Ty Lee anyway) save Ty Lee. I love Zuko more than I fear you always fell flat for me as some epic declaration of love, anyway, since a) Zuko is not around to hear it, and b) unlike Ty Lee, she never showed much fear of Azula to begin with, so it wasn't a very high bar to clear. It was a cool line that was entirely unearned, and I don't think it would be missed, there would be some cute mailee crumbs this way, and a throwaway line of getting them released from the prison after the war ended could wrap up their presence in the story pretty nicely.
Now, kataang is a little trickier, if only because the last leg of Aang's character arc is almost completely derailed by his refusal to let go of his possessive attachment to Katara, to the point where he never naturally reopens his chakras, he has to have the Rock of Destiny hit him in just the right place, and the deus ex lionturtle there to give him a way out of having to make a hard moral choice. (I've maintained for years that if you work the final act of your main character's overall arc in such a way that it could have been solved by one good session with a chiropractor, something got fucked along the way.)
The thing about Aang's chakras is that, narratively, his whole thing with Guru Pathik and leaving his training early to save his friends was basically his version of Luke running away from his training with Yoda on Degobah because of his Force vision, only to find out that his friends were in the process of rescuing themselves and then losing his hand because he hadn't completed the most crucial part of his training. What's missing, therefore, from the last act of Aang's character arc, is the return.
See, in Star Wars, Luke pretty explicitly makes the wrong choice when he chooses to prioritize saving his friends over attaining enlightenment and fully mastering the Force. It was the only choice he could have made, but it was still the wrong one--because, like Aang, his friends did not actually need him to save them, he actually almost makes it harder for them to get away by requiring them to save him because, like Aang, he loses a battle in a very critical way. This was a lesson he desperately needed to learn, and it is clear he has learned it by the time he makes it back to Degobah and witnesses the end of Yoda's life, his own enlightenment having already been reached.
But Aang never goes back to the Guru.
And the text refuses to allow us to sit with the fact that he made the wrong choice in prioritizing his attachment to Katara over his ability to master the Avatar State. He is actually narratively vindicated about it, because the plot bends itself into a pretzel so that he doesn't have to spend any time during the last book trying to reopen his chakras and regain access to the Avatar State, handed both in the final battle with no excess effort on his part, and handed the girl into the bargain. (The girl who never even wanted him, so far as we can tell from all the lack of cues she gave him that she actually returned his feelings.)
And I think this could have been solved with a few scattered scenes. Let Katara actually have some agency in her own romantic relationship (or lack thereof), insofar as noticing Aang's advances and clueing the audience in to how she actually feels. Let Aang struggle with the fact that he can't reach the Avatar State, that his mastery of the elements is in limbo because he can't access his full power, rather than ignoring all of this until the end of the show. If we're trying to keep the shape of the last season roughly the same, let Katara confront Aang about the invasion kiss.
This would have been the perfect time to establish that Katara actually does feel some type of way about Aang prior to the epilogue, and it could have saved us from the exceedingly cringey EIP kiss that Aang never apologized for. How it comes across now, of course, is that Katara basically pretends it never even happened, to the point where she doesn't even know what Aang is talking about during EIP until he reminds her--the death knell for any shot their relationship had at looking requited, because I can tell you, as someone who's been a teenage girl, if someone I had conflicted but burgeoning romantic feelings for had kissed me, I would not have completely forgotten about it only a few weeks later--and we never get any indication as to what she actually felt about the kiss (which was not mutual, despite what Aang's dialogue in the EIP scene implies) except for the fact that she looked away and frowned afterwards. (A change mandated by Bryke, who wanted to leave her feelings completely ambiguous; the original storyboards had her smiling to herself.)
So, with an eye towards wrapping up Aang's puppy love crush and establishing Katara's distinct lack of romantic feelings for him, have her talk to him about the kiss. A good frame of reference for this would be Meng's conversation with Aang in "The Fortuneteller", where she finally realizes that he doesn't like her in the same way she likes him. Katara and Aang's conversation about the invasion kiss could be a callback to this, with Aang having some important realizations--that just because Katara doesn't share his feelings doesn't mean she loves him any less, and just because he can't have her the way he wanted doesn't mean he has to love her any less, that she doesn't belong to him but that's ok, because she's still his family and they'll always have each other's backs. Which could have functioned well in helping him take another step towards unblocking his chakras. Going back to the Guru directly may not have worked, since by this point in the story we're hurtling towards the final confrontation and Sozin's Comet, but let Aang reflect on what the Guru told him with new understanding granted him by his experiences throughout the first half of the season.
To keep the stakes high and up the suspense, obviously, he shouldn't have fully unlocked his chakras and the AS before the final fight, but the seeds could be planted--little moments like a talk with Katara about the invasion kiss, maybe a little more empathy and understanding from him about why Katara needs closure in TSR, etc--and then, during the final fight, rather than hand him all the answers on a silver platter, have him almost lose. He still can't go full Avatar, he's out of time, he still doesn't know exactly what to do about Ozai given his own pacifism and desire to preserve that part of his culture--he tries to fight but he's pretty quickly overpowered. Idk how I would've animated this, and maybe it wouldn't have looked as cool for the final fight, but the true climax of the finale was the Zuko and Azula agni kai anyway, so it hardly matters--I'm picturing him doing the rock-shield thing and going into a brief meditative state, where he finally achieves the enlightenment necessary to unlock the AS on his own, no rock of chiropracty necessary. And at this point, I'd give Ozai a Disney Death, since leaving him alive causes more problems than it solves and it's not necessary for Aang to kill him for him to die--they're fighting on a mountain ffs--but if you don't want to change that part then him figuring out energy bending as part of becoming a fully realized Avatar would at least feel more earned than the lionturtle just handing it to him. (And that could've been foreshadowed better by seeding the idea for it earlier in the season.)
After all of that, particularly if you up the emotions during the agni kai and have Zuko and Katara kiss there (or something less explicitly romantic but still tender, like a brief forehead touch), it'd feel pretty natural to have a just friends ending for Aang and Katara. Maybe a brief, slightly awkward but ultimately amiable conversation if Zuko and Katara had a ~thing at their final fight, and then the final shot of the series could be the gaang all together, maybe zutara holding hands or Katara resting her head on his shoulder or something, but since they already kissed there wouldn't feel like a need to end the whole show on romance, something which I've always felt missed the point of the series.
And then, y'know, after that, the world's your oyster! This is how I'd do it if I were trying to keep the bulk of the final season intact. Of course, breaking it all down to its component pieces and rebuilding from the ground up is also an option, but that'd probably be a longer post lol.

OKAY AND?????? bad wolf must have known that there would be pain and loneliness and suffering in order to have her happy ending. rose knew that she would be happy anywhere, in any universe if she had him. tentoorose is endgame and as much as you wish tenrose would've been fleshed out,,,, i hate to admit it to you besties because it wouldn't have worked (in so many ways but mainly because rose's soulmate is tentoo). Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 196
Tumblr media
Natsu uses the title 'Demon King/Maou', because it's a very staple fantasy trope that the big bad mastermind at the endgame is called a 'demon king'. (to contrast the holy knight/divine hero that the protagonist is) But in that case, the 'Demon King' (endgame villain) of Earthland would be Zeref!
And that's very ironic! The ultimate evil of both Earthland and Edolas are a Demon King Dragneel!
(Which leads me to wonder if the Zeref of Edolas is dead like Natsu would've been on earthland. It's possible, and unless Mashima retcons a new character into the Edolas world, we're never getting confirmation of what an EdoZeref would be like.)
Anyways, it's a fascinating parallel that in Edolas, they only know him as "Dragneel". While on Earthland, we've lived centuries only knowing him as "Zeref". They'll go down in stories of the next generation like that, and I find the contrast just so perfect.

feat of blood and ash
This wasn't a request, but definitely something I wanted to write.
simon "ghost" riley x gn!reader
summary: another day, another name on your list. but this one, this one was special, but just how far can the card of sentimentality take you in a card game destined for him to lose?
Callsign is Apex and no use of Y/N.
warnings: angst, mentions of violence, death, short but something i desperately wanted to write
Tumblr media
This game of push and pull was one sided. You were given your mission years ago, the assignment as clear as day in your mind. Shepherd's call ringing in your pocket on a Saturday afternoon as you sat in your usual spot at a cafe you'd taken a liking to after so many visits. You remembered standing in his office, the way you could barely focus on what he was saying due to the sun rising in the corner your eye. The view was beautiful that morning, listening to him detail the target you were assigned to kill, another life for you to take in however way you could. You were assigned to Task Force 141 where you met him.
Simon "Ghost" Riley.
A big burly man with a skull balaclava you'd heard about in stories on base, the same amber eyes that pierced through the souls of the lives he took now staring down at you.
"Apex then? You sure you live up to the title?" He questioned, remaining stoic as your melodic noises of amusement bounced off the walls and back to his ear drums.
For years, you two worked together, mission after mission after mission. Talks late at night that detailed the most personal of topics amongst the comedic banter you found yourselves engaging in whenever you were around each other. The deep bass of his chuckles that reverberate through the halls as you walked together only furthered your esteemed callsign, having being one of the few people who could make him laugh as much as he did when you were around.
Everyone noticed it, the fleeting glances, the rare, wordless softness that spoke volumes whenever your eyes met. You forgot your position for a moment, forgetting about your job, your duty, your mission, just for a second when in his presence. The noise faded, the static of your life now reduced to a small buzz in the back of your mind when his fingers would dance across of your cheek with a gentle brush of the rough pads of his fingers.
"lovie."
"I love you."
"I need you."
The quiet murmurs of love passing through the both of you as you held each other in the calmness of the night. He was everything you needed, and you were his endgame. He couldn't believe that there was someone out there so perfect for him, so like him in every way.
But.
The sentiment of twin flames can leave the nastiest burns, many that will last a lifetime. You both knew that, so when the barrel of your gun pointed at his forehead, the moon casting a shadow over your face as your eyes, cold and detached stared down into his, he wasn't mad. He wasn't angry, he didn't feel a tinge of betrayal, because he understood you.
"I'm sorry." You spoke, the flicker of softness behind your eyes adding to the heat he felt in his core. This was what you both were, killers who dedicated their lives to their job, who took lives just as quickly as they gave theirs to each other. The comfort of knowing he would've done it too was what made it easier, beautiful, even, in its own twisted way.
"I know." Your lover, your world, your target, and your mission, came crashing down in this final moment, the barrel heating up as his body relaxed for a final time, wrapped in the embrace of what you were and what you could have been.
You intended to write the feat his name brought in blood, but as you stared at the burning corpse in front of you in the dead of night, the flames of your duty and your dead lover dancing in front of you...
His ashes would do.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading!! I based this off of a story I've been thinking of writing so yeah. I appreciate all of your love and support!

Thoughts on the Doom Patrol Finale
"It's okay. I made it home."
I thought the finale was wonderful. It was a perfect send off for the show and I think all the main characters got a good conclusion to their stories, even if I think some had bigger flaws than others. I think the show came full circle and did exactly what it wanted to do. While I would've liked to have seen a fifth season, I'm satisfied with what's here. I would say the theme for the final episode of Doom Patrol revolved around "breaking the cycle" and realizing that the only way things get better is by embracing change and to stop running around in circles. Let go of your worries and just be what you're meant to be.
Vic's ending was simple but sweet. The entire show he's been struggling to find his purpose and how he can help people in a way that isn't joining the Justice League or being a comic book superhero like Batman or Superman. Becoming a teacher with Derrick for the next generation of students pave the way and teach them valuable skills via robotics and prosthetics work (which Vic's Cyborg parts basically are) felt like the best ending for him. He wanted to be a hero and he is, it's just in the more subtle, usually unspoken/unthanked way that teachers can be viewed as "heroes".
Rita's death was sad, but necessary in order to help the rest of the team move on to their final destinies. It's often said that mothers (or grandmothers, in Old!Rita's case) are what keep families together. With her death, the Doom Patrol also died with her. She died beloved and with her family by her side... although she was embarrassed that her family only seemed to think of her by bringing her favorite alcohol... and her body blobbed up and popped like a slime balloon afterwards... But being reunited with Malcolm in the afterlife was a lovely conclusion for her. Being reunited with her lost love in a garden felt like something out of an old movie. Perfect for Miss. Rita Farr. The rest of the team paying tribute to her and watching her movie Secret Rendezvous was a lovely way to remember her. Their Lovely Rita died a star.
Speaking of dying as a star, Larry! Larry went nuclear!! Him flying into the sun during the Bad!Future at the beginning of the season was wild, his future with Rama here at the end was beautiful and it was the ending Larry deserved. He broke the cycle by not having Rama be the same "What If?" that John Bowers had been. He freed himself and was able to truly love without fear or hesitation again. Turning into a bright star in space was perfect for Larry because the entire show he had been introverted and shy and reserved. He made it a point to hide for as long as he could and never let anybody see him. His journey was all about a man embracing the things that make him who he is and to let the world see him in his glory, no matter what they think. Joining with Rama in space and becoming a star (which is how I interpreted their joining to signify) means that for the next couple thousand years, Larry can be seen shining bright in the night sky, whether people like it or not.
Jane becoming Kay again (or simplty, K., as Vic suggested) was the ultimate win. The underground was destroyed and K. found her peace. Her going to space with someone who she could find comfort in and explore with was a lovely ending for her. She wanted to leave Doom Manor and explore the world, now she can. Admittedly, I wish her relationship with Casey Brinke would've had more time devoted to it, but it's not a pairing I mind. As much as I wish she could've found her way back to Shelley Byron, I suppose I treat Shelley as an unreachable fantasy (she is fog, after all) whose role was not so much to be an endgame romantic partner to her, but to be a guiding hand and help Jane/K. begin to become comfortable in her body and sexuality again and ultimately help her reach her ending. Her conclusion had flaws, but her journey was still very very satisfying and I can be happy with her having Casey Brinke, her painting, a ship with a view, and a nice cat (so long as Casey doesn't... you know.) Her ending felt like it answered the ending Grant Morrison gave her after their run of the comics. "There is another world. There is a better world. Well... there must be." The show's answer is, "Yes, there is. She found it."
Tumblr media
Laura's ending was my second least favorite (next to Dorothy, who just flat out fucking disappeared!!!) and I wish she had gotten a little more, but I got to see Michelle Gomez wield a flamethrower and smile bigger than a child on Christmas Day, so I can't be too mad about it. If you believe in fire as a thing that cleanses things and allows people to start over, Laura's ending worked for her character. The place that really and truly broke her is about to be violently burned down. A woman like her needed violence to heal her and I think burning down the Ant Farm was just that.
Cliff's ending was the one that got me the most. "I thought I came home to live, but I think I came home just to die." The gift that Isabel/Immortus gave him was a sweet gift. He gets to see the cycle be broken right before his very eyes. He gets to see Rory's whole life play out and while you fear he's repeating his grandfather's actions, those fears are quickly put to bed when you see that he's perfectly fine and everything works out. He doesn't become RJ Steele, he doesn't fall into the same traps and vices that hurt Cliff Steele, he becomes a different man. Rory Steele is there for Clara Steele and he gets to meet his own grandson as a flawed, but supportive and good man. When Cliff powers down and it hangs on that shot of Cliff's robot face, I broke. The journey is completed. Cliff was in an accident and spent the whole series trying to get home. He did just that. It was the most beautiful way Cliff Steele's story could've ended. I loved every minute of it.
I was happy that the Immortus plot and the Butts plot was wrapped up in about five minutes with no explanation. It didn't need one. This show was never about them. It was a show about a bunch of misfit-assholes-turned-superpowered-weirdos who had to learn to care for one another, helping each other guide through trauma and pain and become better people at the end of it. They did just that. Larry was right: every single threat the team dealt with was created by them in some way. If there's no Doom Patrol, then the world is safe for another day. The only way this all ends is by the Doom Patrol disbanding for good. If you view Doom Manor as one giant therapy/rehabilitation retreat, then all of the members of the manor were stamped and cleared to leave. They left and they all found their own happiness, happiness that would be strange and weird and nonsensical if it was any show other than Doom Patrol. In the end, the cycle was broken and the characters became free to explore the world beyond the manor. No more chaos, no more fear, only peace.
The only cycle that never seems to break is the one where the Doom Patrol dies at the end of almost every iteration of the comics... until some weirdo (Grant Morrison, Rachel Pollack, Gerard Way, etc.) comes along and resurrects them, brings them back to life. I suspect the Doom Patrol will go through that cycle again. They will die, the team will be disbanded and gone for a while, then some weirdo will lovingly make up some way to get them all together again. It doesn't have to make perfect sense, just so long as they're all together again somehow.
There's so much more to say, but I'll leave it with this for now: Doom Patrol has become one of my favorite shows of all time. It's hilariously ridiculous, wonderfully weird, delightfully strange, and the most beautifully human show about superpowered misfits coming together and helping each other find brighter days after experiencing nothing but the darkest ones. They're my new go-to example of what a found family should be and I think the finale was satisfying. I think the show wrapped up the best way that it could've and I think every person that had the pleasure of working on it should be proud of what they've unleashed onto the world.
Long live the Doom Patrol.

Some lore stuffs + how her story ends
This is kinda all over the place bc I don't have a coherent idea but I just need to write it all down before I forget
How Jia was bit was on a hot ass day and she basically fell asleep on a spider and gained powers unknowingly
Doesn't find out for maybe a week
Has a weird dream one night where she basically meets a deity in her dream and the exchange was literally like
"You, Jialin Chen, now bear the powers to protect this la-"
"Uhm yea no thanks, pass 😬"
"WHAT?"
And then a comedic exchange occurs between mortal and god haha! Until the deity was like ENOUGH this is your DESTINY you will bear it whether you like it or NOT 👹 so Jia's kinda like alright fine damn 🙄 but obviously we all know how she really feels abt the whole situation (she hates it bc of issues) but anyways
The reason why it took a whole week is cause uhmmm plot hole lelel or smth the deity can't actually interfere directly with the world
EITHER WAY this is basically spoilers for endgame but it's not like I'll ever make a coherent plot bc I'm too lazy and dum but basically
The deity of Jia's universe is border on obsessive with creating a story line and destiny and heroes and stuff like that and ofc it has to be perfect (bc ofc it has to be, totally not cliche or anything)
Anyways this obsession makes them interfere TOO much with Jia's universe because if the deity was never this obsessed
Jia probably would've gotten over her issues (bc she's meets someone to help her copeeee 😋😋 cougjocughcgpuccough)
But bc the deity is an unreasonable shithead, they're literally the root of every problem:
They're responsible for Jia's split soul because of how abrupt her duties were suddenly forced on her
Bc of the split soul problem, it nearly upsets the world balance that could've been very bad for the universe! (the day she had lost the plot and had a existential crisis breakdown I think I posted it here but basically on that day she was flickering between both before Lin took control)
-> the logic is rlly,,, idk nonsensical for this bc what I thought as world making is that you can't have two souls in control at once and it goes again natural laws so it nearly ficked up her world cause it AINT SUPOSE TO HAPPEN ITS NEVA SUPOSE TO HAPPENNN but moving on
So then Lin switches in place of Jia and the world balance is briefly restored YAYY 🎉 everything is fine‼️
❌ WRONG ❌
Cause now Lin went and 'broke up' (idk it wasn't rlly a break up bc she never said 'lets break up' but she kinda did go 'we aren't meant for each other 🖕' and dipped) with hb so NOW HES GOING THRU IT and the rest of her friends back at spider society are like ???? What the??? Fuck???
Lin does manage to spend a few days or more at the hq cause technically she is still Jia but just
Different
But everyone's kinda weirded out cause she's Serious™ now and even Miguel's kinda like wattafack 🧍 plus the fact she has long white hair that spawned out of nowhere so they kinda piece some form of logic together that she's a different Jia
Anyways some time passes and one day an especially big anomaly is warned abt in Jia's (still Lin) universe which is bizarre cause they're not usually this big but it's all because of that STOOPID FUKASS deity GOING AROUND FUKIN THINGS UP and somehow created this ridiculously bad threat as a 'enemy' for the 'hero of their story' to defeat
The biggest problem with the anomaly is that while it doesn't really like, belong in Jia's universe, it doesn't belong in any OTHER universe either BECAUSE THAT DEITY BOUGHT IT UP OUTTA NOWHERE BC THEYRE PSYCHO I need to stop hating on characters that I literally made anyways
So HQ can't exactly deal with it like they usually do but they can try to offer assistance at least
Obviously for obvious (cliche) reasons CERTAIN PEOPLE are gonna be there cause yknow they still care abt Jia even tho she's changed (to Lin momentarily)
Battle occurs blah blah I'm not good with action scenes and things are looking a littttlee bleak for Lin and Co and all the sudden Lin receives a bad injury that nearly knocks her unconscious but thru her ringing ears and muted background noise she hears SOMEBODDYYY CALLING HER NAAMMEEE (god I really wonder who)
Because her state of unclarity from the Blunt Force Head Trauma makes things a little weird, the fine line between Jia and Lin also becomes a little muddled and the Jia that's been hiding behind Lin can hear his voice and it quite literally brings her out of that dark room in her mind to control again so TLDR Jia is back again instead of Lin
Reunion happens for maybe 3 minutes tops before shit hits the fan again and suddenly the deity has teared through time space fabric out of anger to speak directly to them mortal little earthlings on the ground because they're a little bitch
All because they thought Lin was the true protagonist they've been searching for all along and now 'that insolent fool' (hobie) has ruined everything (he does no wrong)'
But suddenly because the deity is in direct contact with the mortal world, they're like wait 🤨 you're not from this universe and sees other things also not from this universe and goes on a tangent about how they don't need to rebuild a 'story' anymore and can just find another 'story' to pilot (TLDR AGAIN: local deity discovers universe theft and wants to ditch this universe cause Jia's spiderman story wasn't perfect and now wants to find another universe to force to become their 'perfect story')
Obviously spider people are like 😨😨😨 UHMMM NO TF UR NOTTT so they start retreating (as they should tbh) and Jia's like helping to round up people to gtfo of her universe before some batshit deity absorbs them or smth
Atp bits of her universe is already crumbling and disintegrating because the deity is already trashing it because it's worthless and imperfect now (ngl me when art 😭😭)
So now it's the last of the people to go back thru the portals and its Jia and Hb :)) (y'all should know what's coming next)
Truthfully, Jia wants to so so badly go thru the portal to stay with the rest of them but she knows that there was the possibility of her connection with the deity of her world and her as a creation from the said deity
So she says goodbyes
Pushes him thru
And throws in her watch before it closes properly so the FUCK ASS DEITY CANT GET ANY KIND OF CONNECTION TO THE MULTIVERSE
And thus it concludes her coming of age plot because she found the proper courage to do what was right in all senses and came to terms with her spider girl identity
Even though she had so much she wanted to do with the rest of them was what she had thought while the thread of her universe on the multiverse crumbled into nothingness
ANYWAYS THE REAL CONCLUSION IS THE DEITY IS THE REAL ANOMALY THEIR OBSESSION DROVE THEM INTO AN ANOMALY AND INTERFERING WITH THE LIVING WORLD but thats kinda what happens when you've been living for centuries, you kinda go a little nuts
Anyways thanks for this long and incredibly messy read, don't kill me ✌️ peaces

hello ! hope you are having an amazing day ! so i saw the post you made on the salvatore’s relationship with elena and IT WAS AMAZING. i swear it was the best character analysis of elena and stefan in respect to each other that i have seen. i agree wholeheartedly so i wanted to know rather than the salvatore’s who in the tvd universe would you have liked best as elena’s endgame?
heyy, i'm doing alright <33 i hope you're having a great day too!! omgggg thank youu so so much <33 (literally drowning in love rn).
and now, to answer your question, here are the potential people i see for elena in the tvd universe who i consider best as endgame for elena.
(for anyone who disagrees with this post, please note that these are my personal opinions and i'm absolutely sure there's no need to start a catfight in the comments section <33)
so, for this analysis, i'm considering elena as bisexual (which i generally do, since she's had chemistry with both male and female characters in the show that has potential to be endgame)
Tumblr media
elena & tyler — tylena would've been such a delight! both of them had amazing, top-notch reactions every time they had a scene together, be it good or bad and i would've loved it if they were endgame. tyler is incredibly loyal to elena and is also very protective and supportive of his significant others. he's also very passionate and blunt and provides constant assurance to his partner, which is something elena needs in the world of supernaturals. on the other hand, elena would always love tyler with her whole heart and never be afraid of his wolf side and would even aid him in his transformations even if he posed a significant threat to her life span.
elena & elijah — hands-down, the ultimate tvdu power couple. both complement the other's personalities and values. i've written a long-ass post as to why elejah is absolutely magnificent and i'll just link it right here for anyone who is interested to give it a read <33
elena & marcel — power couple in the chat! king and queen of new Orleans, jazz dances in rousseau's, and a much better rain kiss GUARANTEED. that man would literally sweep elena off her feet and everyone else would be absolutely fuming lmfao
Tumblr media
elena & rebekah — s4 really just put beklena into the competition. with the constant rivalry they had in s3, s4 just gave a whole new perspective to things. from all the relationships rebekah has had, elena would've been the most healthy partner out of marcel and whoever else she's had a relationship with. plus, in some way or the other, just like elijah, rebekah made elena realize her worth.
elena & bonnie — perfect for friends-to-lovers. plus, both have the all dying and sacrificing thing very common between them. bonlena just speaks for itself and honestly, bonnie is wayyyy healthier for elena's mental sanity and like rebekah and elijah, she also reminds elena of her worth. however, a bonus point with bonnie is that there's a lot of trust and assurance between the two and both of their values hardly clash. it's just another ship that you'd definitely root for as endgame.
elena & freya — the only mikaelson elena has never got a chance to meet is freya. i believe freya and elena woild definitely complement each other. meet disaster turned cute friendship turned into a romance built on everlasting and heart-racing love. and hell yeah they'd definitely hit it off the second they met each other! (plus, both of them would make each other laugh a whole lot more with how serious freya is and how miserable elena's life is)
Tumblr media
elena & jackson kenner — both have similar values towards friendship, romance and family and honestly, this is just such a wholesome ship. the thought it makes me positively squeal. if you're open to jacklena and would like to explore more, @sevensistersofsussex's 'throne of blood' is a brilliant place to start <33
elena & klaus — this is an incredibly rare pair which i 100% endorse. i know they may not seem to be compatible with the constant fighting between them. but they can be a beautiful relationship if given a chance and (i assure you) A WHOLE LOT BETTER than delena. for reasons why i ship them, i'll link the post right here. for reasons why i endorse them 100% and find them compatible, i believe my fics are more than enough for an answer. there's also 210+ fics under the klaus/elena tag on ao3 and they are brilliantly written by some of the writers i consider as my family and if you wish to explore, i'm linking my recs post right here <33
elena & kol — again, very self-explanatory. like damon, kol is also very capable of unlocking elena's adventurous style but UNLIKE damon, kol has massive potential to do it in a healthy manner. plus, can you imagine the shenanigans they could get upto? katherine would straight up say 'nope, i am outta here'
Tumblr media
elena & finn — istg, our queen is compatible with every mikaelson LMFAO i legitimately love finnlena. they're so precious and they both wish to be human at the end of the day and with finn, i don't think elena would face that much trouble with how less number of enemies finn has (except for klaus and kol lmao)
elena & cami — our two human firebirds would be AMAAAAZING for each other <33 plus, both of them would be requiring a drink at the end of every goddamn day after dealing with the mikaelsons and salvatores.
elena & enzo — bonenzo serves as proof of how much of an amazing and healthy partner enzo is and i think he'd be great for elena! both of them would be an amazing support to each other and they'd definitely hit it off!
Tumblr media
elena & kai — i think they'd make a pretty great ship. kai's association with elena might make him think about restraining his murderous tendencies and turn him into an anti-hero like klaus. though, i think he'd have much trouble restraining elena from attacking anyone who tries to harm him or their loved ones (he wouldn't stop her tho, he'd just find a tub of popcorn and enjoy the show)
elena & hayley — they've interacted less, yes, but i don't care, i find the romance side of haylena to be incredibly hot. plus, elena would be a brilliant step-mom to hope <33
Tumblr media
elena & lucien — again, they have had zero interactions over the course of the show and its universe. but i find this ship really freaky in a good way and i wouldn't mind seeing elena with lucien 👀
elena & aurora — again, same explanation as lucien & elena's dynamic.
and finally, an honourable mention...
Tumblr media
elena & henrik — if the show could've accommodated henrik somehow by bringing him back and possibly him being aged up due to magic, i see fionn whitehead playing an adult henrik. according to, like, my headcanon (based on theory), henrik and klaus are half-siblings of the other mikaelsons, meaning henrik is also esther's child with klaus' father, making henrik a werewolf-vampire hybrid too. he was always quite fascinated with werewolves like klaus and unlike elijah, rebekah, finn and kol so he does seem to be klaus' blood brother and half. he'd definitely be the most interesting mikaelson sibling of all and i think, with given time, elena and henrik would've had a pretty sweet relationship.
these are all from my end! if you have any more elena's potential endgame characters that you think i missed, feel free to comment below!
thank you so much for your ask and have a wonderful day/night ahead <33

In a perfect world, Blaine and Sebastian would've ended up together, their relationship would've hit a few bumps- but eventually, they would've been endgame. Since that's not Canon, here's one of the bumps as a story:
After the yelling and screaming comes the quietness. When Blaine wakes up in the middle of the night, the hurtful words they both said still hang in the air. Finding Sebastian smoking outside leads to a much needed heart-to-heart.

oh betty, i just finished “i’m on fire” and i couldn’t be more emotional. i’m currently listening to the song on repeat and smiling like i just finished a life changing movie. i’m so so happy for eddie and r and stevie and astrid 🥲 it’s a perfect ending. to my girl charlene, they could never make me hate you babe - i was low key rooting for her and stevie to make it for most of their time together. “have you ever been in love?” “once.” UGH. congratulations betty ❤️ what a fuckin’ ride.
This was such a beautiful note to receive, and it makes me emotional in a plethora of ways. I was so nervous to wrap that story up, worried I wouldn't be able to do it in a satisfying way, so this reassurance goes right to my heart. As far as Charlene, babe is doing just fine with all of her money in Hawaii, but I was low key rooting for her as well. The more I wrote her character, the more I realized how sad and lonely she was, and she had serious chemistry with Steve, so it would've been fun for me as a writer to explore that (I still explore it in my head) but Steve and Astrid had to be endgame.
Writing has always been a very solitary business for me, I've created so many worlds over my life that no one has ever seen. Being a part of this fandom and letting people "in" has been very therapeutic, and building the I'm on Fire au with others was such a fucking cool experience.
I adore you. I'm going to put the song on now too and stare at the wall for a bit.

My love,
I saw you today. You looked so…..beautiful. You looked happy and I'm so glad. I'm so glad that you're happy. You were almost glowing you know? I was a few tables over. I wanted to go up to you and ask you how you were but I didn't dare. I saw her with you and she's so beautiful. Just like you. It's like you both were made for eachother. Like, God has created you and her for each other. I don't know her name but with how angelic she looked next to you I could only assume that it'd be something just as beautiful. You looked so happy with her. Like she brought the whole world to your feet. Like she hung the stars in the sky.
I wanted to be selfish. I wanted to ruin what you had. I wanted to go up to you and ruin what moment you were having with her. But I couldn't. I just couldn't. I didn't have the guts. I would've cried if you were to tell me who she was to you. I know who she is– I just– I don't think I could've taken that, you know? I know you've moved on. Of course you have, it's been almost 6 years since we've parted our ways right? Yeah. It's—
I still haven't moved on. I couldn't. I thought I had moved on but turns out I didn't and it hurts. It hurts to know that you've healed and moved on like it was easy. I couldn't. Every other night I'd dream about you. About you just being by my side. And then I'd wake up to realize that I'm still stuck on my past. I'm still the loser that I was 6 years ago. I still love you. And it hurts to see you move on with someone who loves you like how I used to— maybe even more than me. And I have no right to be sad. I know.
The last time I saw you, a year ago, you gave me your books so I could study for my test. I was sick and you wanted to carry my bags so that I won't be hurting. We sat and talked for hours. You told me that your mother passed. I told you about my illness. You told me you got into university and I told you I didn't. You showed me the scar on your arm when I asked, a football related injury. You were the same clumsy man I had loved all those years ago. I fixed your hair for you. I ignored the call you got. I thought it was just your friend since you didn't pick up. You held my hand as you helped me walk to the bus stop. You smiled at me.
You smiled at me and I foolishly thought I had a chance. A chance at a love that I so dearly craved. You are– were my endgame. Now as days go by and I see all these people who are in love, I feel hollow inside. Like I'd never get to feel love anymore. Like I'd never be whole again. You left and took a significant piece of my heart with you.
I guess I'm just broken now. I can't seem to truly love anyone anymore you know? Not like the way I loved you. Now every time someone shows me any kind of love I get scared. I get nervous. I don't know why. I just can't seem to let go of this hurt anymore. I guess it's insecurity, that no one would love me like you did or maybe because I know I won't be able to love anyone the way I loved you. And I know it'd hurt them like how it hurts me. I can't do that to a human being. I just can't.
I can't even hate her, your girlfriend, she seems perfect. And she makes you happy. That's the most important thing. You're happy. That's all that matters to me.
I just wish it was me who made you this happy.
I'd never send this letter to you. I'd never hurt you like that. I could never. So I guess this is the end of us. In my mind.
Today is the day I let you go. Today is the day I free you from what's left of my heart. I'll heal. I'll live.
Sincerely,
The one who loved you.

I can't speak for the merchandising but when it comes to gotg rides Mission Breakout is set just after vol 2 so there would be no need to change anything about it because of vol 3. Not that I think they would change the ride anyway. The newer ride is Cosmic Rewind and it's supposed to be taking place during or around vol 1. Gamora is of course included. This ride came out last year and I don't know when or how it was decided but I have been wondering if the whole rewind to vol 1 theme was picked so Gamora could be included.
I have mostly loved Gunn's work when it comes to gotg. I think he's typically thoughtful and nuanced when dealing with the abuse and trauma plots. However I don't think he had the ability to deal with Thanos killing Gamora. Gamora needed way more attention and her death should have been one of the most serious issues gotg ever had. I don't know what the perfect solution would have been but part of me wishes they would have given Gamora a solo movie or show handled by someone more willing to do the work needed to give Gamora's murder closure and Gamora an arc that was about finding a way to give back to her rather than take away. The mcu wanting to deal with hard and complicated issues is great. Being unprepared to see them through to the end or research what those situations are really like, isn't so great and honestly can send out a bad message. Vol 3 treats everything Thanos did with nonchalance. Gunn also uses the time and space since Endgame mostly in a negative way for Gamora. Vol 3 has Rocket and Nebula as much better friends and the entire basis for this is Endgame. At the same time it only lightly touches on Gamora and Nebula's relationship even though Endgame showed that was the most important thing for both of them and the entire catalyst for Gamora having confidence that her arrival to the future might be okay and they could win against Thanos. He ignores that 5 years working and being friends with other people could pose an issue for Rocket and Nebula when the guardians came back from the snap. Especially Nebula who hadn't been on the team before. It's like none of that time mattered at all. Then with Gamora he treats her time after Endgame as if it's created a permanent wall where she can't connect with these characters or be part of the guardians. And now here we are with Gamora being excluded and her value as a character being questioned which is the exact opposite of what you should want for a film about abuse survivors.
you're so right on all fronts here! i think gunn is extremely talented and everything else has been generally handled well and beautifully; for me personally it mostly only starts to all unravel when i consider the gamora situation, but looking past that, i think most of the characters got pretty solid arcs/moments/etc across the 3 films, especially considering the chaotic context of trying to fit into the greater mcu.
i'm glad rocket got the attention and care he did in this film, esp knowing how much it meant to gunn, but like i mentioned yesterday, i think it would've made more sense to put this particular story between vol 2 and iw, since the effects of iw/eg are hardly even explored in the film beyond peter grieving, the ravager gamora storyline, nebula's presence, and just other random details.
and i'm not just making up reasons to sound like a hater here lol like i've LITERALLY been saying since 2021 when mcu content resumed post-covid that, in general, one of my biggest gripes with post-eg mcu is the lack of rly going into the effects of 1) the 5-year time skip, and 2) the snap itself on most of the characters/stories, and unfortunately vol 3 ended up falling into the majority of films/shows that didn't rly deal with it much.
and my issue isn't necessarily gunn not wanting to deal with all that on top of the rocket story he wanted to do, but just like...we didn't have to make it a post-eg story then lol
in my ideal world we'd get like a vol 4 that is post-eg where it's just the gotg grieving gamora and searching for the new one, or perhaps even rectifying the whole original issue by bringing original gamora back or merging her with 2014!gamora etc. but either way, i think gamora's circumstances in her life and death warranted her getting a story just as much centered around her and driven by how much the other characters love her just as much as rocket did.
but yeah like you said anon, i just don't think gunn - or markus, mcfeely, or the russos bros for that matter - were equipped to handle this kind of storyline. and that isn't a bad thing! that isn't even a criticism of their work. it's just a literal fact that not all storytellers are equipped to handle every kind of story. and i don't think it should be A Big Deal to simply say that a white male storyteller may not be the best choice to tell the story of the consequences of a woc abuse survivor getting murdered by her abuser like lol. (bc when white male storytellers did tell that story, it was to show how the abuser actually Loved her and how there are parts of thanos we can still sympathize with UWU)
this is not even a radical opinion. this is quite literally the whole point of movements like #ownvoices and giving bipoc/queer/etc creatives jobs in directing and/or writing films/shows that center their identities.
like it literally is not that deep to suggest that local middle-aged white man james gunn (who's already made it clear that rocket was His Guy from the beginning, so we already know which character he'd prefer to focus on) was maybe not The Best Choice to write a story abt a woc surviving and escaping her abuser only to end up murdered by him in the end. he had his chance to show he was equipped to tell that story and he didn't, the end, case closed. it's as simple as that, and i don't wanna hear any dissenting opinions from white ppl, honestly!

What do you think did and didn’t work in the Black Widow movie? For example, I felt like it didn’t focus enough on Natasha’s character development/inner world as a stand-alone and it instead just set up Yelena as the next Black Widow. And I think the CGI was horrible, but the fight sequences were good. But I’m curious what your thoughts are!!
hi anon!! thanks for the ask - i should preface this by saying i've only seen the movie once all the way through (i really lost my enthusiasm for sitting through a marvel movie after endgame lol) so maybe i should lose my card as a nat stan lol. i'm actually going to focus on one aspect of the movie (nat's characterization), but i will say the biggest failing of the film was, genuinely, not its fault, which is the placing of the movie in the mcu. this movie needed to be before nat's death. it just doesn't have the same impact seeing a character go through things when we know it's just in a little bubble, and it takes away from us really feeling nat's vulnerable moments in iw and endgame. i also have an overall problem with solo movies at this point in the mcu, but i digress.
my personal biggest problem is similar to yours actually! i don't think nat really grew in bw. we find post-cacw nat in a very vulnerable place. she's invested years of her life into her avengers family, and it splintered not because of external factors, but mainly internal ones. cacw was the wake-up call that 2012 fandom never wanted: the avengers are NOT family. i think this hits nat the hardest because, as we see throughout the mcu, family is something that nat wants desperately, and in cacw, she uses everything in her toolbox to keep them together. the point: her toolbox is incomplete.
if i had written bw, i would've tried to show nat four things: 1) what she did wrong in cacw, 2) simultaneously, that cacw was not her fault, 3) that second chances are possible when it comes to the avengers, and 4) how to actively improve the avengers through her own self-improvement. to the film's credit, i think it did #3. nat's spy family is the proxy for the avengers ("besides, if it can work out with the four of us, you know, there may be some hope for the avengers") - though they make it anything but easy, they're capable of working together and caring about each other. she exits frame in the movie with hope, which is a whole different meta about the theme of hope in the mcu. actually, the film gets closest to #4 when nat apologizes to yelena, and they reconcile. i think there's an accidental comparison to be made between that scene and tony and nat after the fight at the airport. nat chooses to be completely open - she doesn't parse out her words when she apologizes to yelena ("i should've come back for you" "it was real to me too") vs to tony ("we played this wrong"). granted, different circumstances and people, but nat is noticeably appealing to tony as a teammate and a strategist. she doesn't try to say "i thought someone was going to get killed" or "i think i made the only good move, but i hated hurting you." we know that nat's being vulnerable, but tony understandably doesn't get it. with yelena, she leaves nothing to chance. she speaks from the heart and not the head, and it ends up being exactly what yelena needs to hear.
so maybe the way to deal with family pain is to be explicit, to open yourself up to hurt, but then we don't get the follow through with the avengers. essentially, nat maybe realizes that family cannot be maneuvered, they have to be loved, but it's not like we get a end scene with tony or steve or clint or god, even rhodey. anything to show nat implementing the lessons she's learned. rhodey would be great because, as the mcu writers love no consequences, it doesn't have to impact them later the way that a steve/nat or tony/nat interaction might. #1 and #2 are not even in the picture, though bw would've been the perfect time to give us more of nat's thoughts from cacw. i feel like my unofficial ironwidow job is deconstructing that movie lmao, so having nat either face feelings of failure/guilt from her actions/inactions in cacw or come to terms with what she and tony, imho (maybe steve too) have built, would've been golden.
on the other hand, though, i did think bw gave us that impetus for nat's 'whatever it takes' vibe in endgame ("i had nothing; then i got this family"). it drives home that family was nat's true goal all along, which is really beautiful and f**king heartbreaking after everything. she was always willing to die as long as it was for people she thought worthy. it also gave us more of nat's playful side. though the actual plot wasn't my favorite (it just felt kinda like the OG bw film plot that was never updated when we didn't get a solo film earlier?), it was refreshing to have a despicable villain (i'm tired of the 'what if the villain kinda had a point' discourse) and i love the parallels to human trafficking. the focus on good quiet moments rather than big dramatic fights and scenes was probably my favorite thing about the movie, though i think it resulted in worse outcomes from critics. directing was good (and clearly done by a woman). you're right about the cgi for sure. didn't mind the fight scenes, and ofc yelena was great. i respect their need to set up her character, and i don't necessarily think she stole the show. i do think it sets up some weird plotholes, and i still could scream about "do we know if she had family" which i literally hate even typing. the fact that either 1) the og6 never knew about yelena (which we know is not the case for at least clint) or 2) no one cared enough to let her know about nat's death post-endgame is horrifying.
tldr: character development is only good if it carries through to future things, and bc of timing and bad planning, we didn't get that carry through. bw was more of a glimpse into nat's background, and while it was an enjoyable two hours, i just really felt frustrated by that lack of character work in a movie where it would've been so easy to do it.

Hi there! Just found your account and saw you wanted since questions. What do you think about the direction of the mcu in phase 4 so far? I don't see many people talk about it deeper than a superficial level (even when I do see people talk about it, it's in short Letterboxd reviews)
Oh man. I have some thoughts...
I also forgot to check back up on this. I looked at it the day you sent it in, thought about it, and never touched it until now. So here you go :)
Before we get into this, I want to make it very clear that I do enjoy the MCU. But I have some critiques about phase 4. Just so everyone knows for future discussions like this, you can still heavily enjoy media and critique it. Thank you.
First of all, we'll just start with the most obvious detail. Quantity over quality.
These days, it's very clear that Disney is just pumping projects out one after another. They certainly have the budget for better cgi, but they don't care anymore. They don't need it to look perfect. They don't need it to look great. They'll be racking in upper millions whether or not everything looks realistsic. I think this is one of the more major flaws of the new projects.
I don't know exactly when it all started going downhill, but I know it was somewhere after Shangchi. Man, I can't express how beautiful that movie was. Definitely the best phase 4 movie, in my opinion. Not many Marvel movies compare to that one. But that's beside the point.
I do not like how you need to watch other movie just to understand one. I will never understand this personally, since any movie that comes out... I will already have watched the movies leading up. No problem there.
But I can very easily understand how this would be a deal breaker for others. It's very obviously a cash grab by Disney to get more subscriptions. And we can fault them for that. It's a very annoying thing they do. And this problem was multiplied with the Loki show. After the Loki finale *spoilers* any possibility that could've ever been possible in the mcu is no possible. Because now, every single timeline and universe is out of the TVA's control. The world is in chaos now, and there is no stopping. Now every possibility from every version of the comics could come up in the mcu. I feel like that shouldn't have happened.
I think this is one of the biggest complaints people had with MoM, was that it was just chaos. The entire subject of interuniversal travel wasn't handled very well (in my opinion). Then again, this could be chopped up to crappy writing due to a feeling of urgency to pump out new stuff every three months.
Do they realize we won't combust if we wait more than two months at a time for another project? Do they think we'll stop watching altogether if we don't get supplied every fortnight? If anything, they're losing people cause the producers feel the need to push things unnecessarily. They're shooting themselves in the feet.
By biggest concern with phase 4 is the next Avengers movie. Can I be entirely honest? I don't care about the Avengers anymore. I don't care. I stopped caring after Endgame. My biggest fear is that now that they've seen the success of the infinity saga, they'll try to trump it in phases 4 and 5. Please, I beg of you Marvel, don't do this. There was a reason Infinity War and Endgame succeeded as they did. Please do not try to replicate this. You'll be racking in millions no matter what you do. Please don't try to reach trillions, if that's even possible.
This leads into my next point. I'd have been okay if they ended the official mcu after Endgame. Maybe one or two movies after, just enough to complete specific characters and storylines not completed in that movie. Then move on. End the mcu. I would have been okay with that. It would've been a disappointment, but so is how they're treating my beloved characters and how they're treating us fans. This also is fed by my fear of Endgame 2.0. I love standalone movies more than the freaking Avengers. I don't think I can describe how tired I am of the Avengers. Let's move on! Please!
The mcu feels very overwhelming at this point. So overwhelming. It's sometimes too much to even think of. If they standalone, but feed into the general overall plot that is the mcu world, I love that. Love that for them. This makes it feel less like an overwhelming hodpodge of over 20 superhero movies, and more like an actual enjoyable superhero movie.
E.x. Shangchi, Black Widow, No Way Home. Maybe this one is just me, but I THOROUGHLY enjoyed No Way Home. Maybe I just love everything Spiderman. Love him, love them. But that's beside the point again.
I do think this is it. All my thoughts for now. This was a good time to vent :)

Which ships are your favourite? Or what would you like to have seen in MTMTE?
I'm not a HUGE shipper tbh, I find it more interesting to explore characters by themselves sometimes. HOWEVER. I really really like driftceptor. Not so much what they Have but moreso the potential they could've had if not for MTMTE becoming JRO world*
*see my dr.atchet post
i've talked about it a lil bit with a few friends but they had a pretty strong introduction to one another that i feel could've gone somewhere if their plot thread wasn't entirely dropped once AHM ended.
i think there was a lot of potential in expanding upon how perceptor is the first (cybertronian) life drift saved after giving up being a decepticon and how if not for that moment if he hadn't gone back for him when everyone else just left him he wouldn't have ended up throwing his lot in with the autobots.
i think about how perceptor feels indebted to drift for that and i think about this cycle of debt with them and how awesome it would've been if that was expanded upon at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jro makes this convoluted (annoying and frustrating) relationship with ratchet instead of keeping with any of drift's prior relationships and had ratchet go bring him back.
my biggest opinion that i think would get me shot dead if i actually decided to write anything about it is that i think it would've been more interesting if there was the narrative through-line of perceptor going to bring him back instead. like a… a parallel to how drift went back for him those years ago.
and drift struggles with the fear all he brings to the universe is death. the perfect rebuttle would be perceptor still being alive at all.
also i think it would've been cool as shit if that scene with ratchet and drift showing up was percy and drift instead. he's already a sharpshooter And duel wields pistols. + a rematch with overlord.
anyways i think a lot about the wasted potential between them. they don't share a SINGLE line of dialogue with each other in mtmte and i think that's criminal.
i also think rodimus and drift had more potential for being endgame. i think there should've been a complicated and crazy polycule between the lost light's captain, tic, and chief science officer.

Post Edit:
Hey, thank you for tagging me @therese-lokidottir !! :)
Now let's see if I can do this in a non-messy way lol. So in no particular order:
Loki (of course, I mean - this is my Loki blog after all! XD)
Tumblr media
Particularly from Thor: The Dark World, tho tbh I love almost every version of him (or at the very least I care about/feel bad for him, which basically sums up my feelings for TVA Loki.
Sansa Stark (tbh my girl deserved so much better both in the writing dept and in fandom bc she was constantly crapped on by fans for basically being a traumatized feminine 13 year girl - until of course the writers botched her whole character up by turning her into Lady Vengeance bc then everyone liked her like wtaf)
Tumblr media
I mean don't get me wrong I love Lady Vengeance Sansa - just not at the expense of her more compassionate core. She should have had more scenes with Theon as Reek damnit - we should've seen her conflicted feelings of wanting to hate this man who betrayed her family and "killed her little brothers" (in her mind bc he didn't actually kill them) and yet undeniably feeling immense sympathy for him (bc that's her goddamn character David and Dan! She's not heartless and she's definitely not revenge-driven like Arya is - like she is literally the opposite of heartless you damn hacks!) Not to mention her ultimately relating to him - not only as Ramsay's victim but as a hostage herself being as she was held captive by the Lannisters while Theon was held captive by the Starks. Like she empathizes with Theon, in a way that none of the other characters do. And tbf the series does show this aspect of her character with Sophie Turner's wonderful performance but it would've been better if the writers hadn't tried to mess that all up with Sansa and Theon's earlier scenes. (I will never not be salty about the whole "if I could do what Ramsay did to you I would" - like GIRL NO YOU WOULDN'T!) And I'm not even going to touch what those hacks made her do in the last couple of seasons bc this rant is long enough and I don't have the patience to get into all that. Which leads me to -
THEON!!! Theon Theon Theon Theon Theo-
Tumblr media
(I mean, um, Theon Greyjoy, ha ha. 😅)
Valkyrie (Brunhilde???)
Tumblr media
(Still salty that we never found out her name! 😤)
Margaery Tyrell
Tumblr media
Tbh I didn't know who else to put bc I had to pick a woman character (otherwise this list would've had too many men and therefore wouldn't be even) and I was running out of mcu ladies. (Look I know there are so many to choose from but unfortunately I haven't actually seen Black Widow or Black Panther/Wakanda Forever or Moon Knight so I don't feel I can actually use such great characters like Yelena Belova or Shuri or Okoye bc tbh I feel I haven't actually seen them at their best - or at all if we're talking about Yelena. And why am I like this??? Hel if I know, I have OCD so it's probably something to do with that.)
Anyway all this to say Margaery's underrated af and while some of the writing for her was kinda sus (woman who uses sex as manipulative tactic cliche) she was still salvaged by Natalie Dormier's awesome performance so yeah - I'm putting her on the list!
Peter Parker/Spiderman
Tumblr media
Wanda Maximoff/Scarlett Witch (how the hell did I forget about her???)
Tumblr media
Like I related to her way too hard in Wandavision to just leave her off the list...
Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow
Tumblr media
(Oh hey look - I have an excuse to include my babygirl here! I haven't gotten around to gushing about this guy yet but don't worry - pretty soon this blog will be infested with posts of me just rambling about him and why he's my perfect poor little meow meow. :) )
Natasha Romanoff
Tumblr media
(I was never a huge fan of hers but after Endgame I've grown to really love her. Plus she gives off protective big sister vibes.)
Honorable Mentions:
Black Noir from The Boys. He isn't on the list simply bc I haven't actually watched The Boys, only several scenes really. But it's wild bc I ended up tearing up when I saw Black Noir's/Irving's background, who he was, what had happened to him, why he behaved the way he behaved... like even without all of the context it's hard not to get emotional about his story, especially the conclusion - all I know is I will never be able to look at Buster Beaver (a cartoon mascot that's the Chuck E Cheese of The Boys verse) without tearing up. :'(
Ramsay Bolton (aka Ramsay Snow) from Game of Thrones.
The Joker from The Dark Knight.
Yelena Belova
Alicent Hightower from House of the Dragon.
Lord Eddard Stark (aka Ned) from Game of Thrones.
Jon Snow from Game of Thrones.
Robb Stark from Game of Thrones.
Prince Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Princess Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Bruce Wayne (aka Batman) from Batman: The Animated Series, The Dark Knight nolanverse films, and The Batman (2022).
Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) from The Batman (2022).
Terry McGuinness (aka Batman) from Batman Beyond.
Yara Greyjoy from Game of Thrones.
Oberyn Martell from Game of Thrones.
Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop.
The girls from Euphoria. Particularly Rue, but tbh I feel for all of them (yes even Cassie).
Princess Shuri, particularly from Wakanda Forever tho I already liked her even before then, I just love her more now.
Andrea Beaumont from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
Namor from Wakanda Forever.
Will Byers from Stranger Things.
Max from Stranger Things.
Lucas from Stranger Things.
Jonathan Byers from Stranger Things.
Robin from Stranger Things.
Eleven (aka El, Jane Hopper) from Stranger Things.
Eddie Munson from Stranger Things.
Hela - though I fully blame Galaxy (affectionate 🖤) for my growing love for her. Not that I didn't like her before but I'd never given her much thought... I read Galaxy's meta and fics.
Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones. She is quite possibly one the most vindictive bitchs (affectionate and derogatory) to ever grace mmm)
Thor
Steven Grant Rogers
James Buchanan Barnes (aka Bucky)
Sam Wilson
Link from The Legend of Zelda series.
Prince Nuada from Hellboy: The Golden Army
A-Train from The Boys
Kimiko from The Boys
Billy Butcher from The Boys
Guts
Tumblr media
(I'm just going to put this right here and not elaborate any further...)

At least now we know the rhodey who said the cheese comment was a skrull and real rhodey is innocent. That im ok with.
// It's a take, and you're entitled to it, but it's not one I'll run with personally. I don't recall a confirmed date as to how long Rhodey was held captive so if someone provides a screenshot that does, fair do's. Otherwise, I firmly believe Tony would've recognised a fake Rhodey. The man we saw in Secret Invasion was clearly out of character.
In Endgame, what people saw was an in-character fave saying something some of us might not have wanted him to say. People say problematic things, even our favourites, especially in fiction, especially when they're under an inordinate amount of stress from a half apocalypse and trying to keep things glued together and here's this god-like being who represents more firepower than his entire military combined sat here thinking he's worthless after (what I assume from my own takes) people have spent years trying to get through to him and had to give up because of his stubbornness and they all have their own shit to deal with. It's not kind, it's not right, but Rhodey is a no shit kind of guy with a smart mouth. He's military talking to a warrior, teasing and unpleasant comments sometimes kick people into shape. It's not the textbook perfect psychological thing to do but they're characters (and he's human). Doing things the 'right way' makes for boring viewing. I defend Rhodey's right to be an asshole when he's under pressure and frustrated with a man he doesn't know well who he probably deems capable of a lot more if he got off his ass. He's used to giving Tony a hard time when he fucks up, so he does it to others, too. No, fat jokes and food jokes aren't cool or kind and I sympathise for Thor, but again this is fiction and I personally think it's ok to laugh at things that would be otherwise cruel in reality. The sad truth that some people in the real world don't realise you shouldn't talk to people the way fictional characters do is not screenwriters' problems.
Wow sorry I essayed there. This was not aimed at you, anon, I just had a take apparently and off I went. Thanks for raising this concept though. It would be interesting to consider that Rhodey had been a skrull that long but I don't agree that it was before Tony's death.
