overcomplicated analysis of kim kitsuragi’s notebook because im autistic!

i was reading thru the footnotes of his wiki page because i am a completely normal human being and i had some thoughts that led me to buying some stationery and drawing some headcanons today so i wanna INFODUMP!

the name mnemotechnique caught my attention immediately. one of my favourite brands of notebook has a similar name - maruman mnemosyne - i can only assume that this is a reference to the brand name. (coincidentally this supports my fountain pen headcanon as these books are some of my favourite paper to use fountain pens on!!) btw! mnemosyne is the goddess of memory, and mnemotechnique is the french word for mnemonics; the practice of making things easier to remember via patterns!

this reference is supported by the ring binding on the item icon in game, and the fact that it’s one of the more affordable ~nice~ notebook brands out there.

it looks like a bit more is going on in the game artwork though. it’s somewhat bigger than A6 compared to that pen, even in the overworld model. (lets just blame the fact that its *slightly* bigger on that no one actually need bother with that level of detail. a book much bigger than a6 in a breast pocket is just too heavy. it’d pull on his jacket too much), and there’s that weird metal thing on the top. i’m imagining the art people were trying to get it to match harry’s ledger. we could assume kim’s notebook has a binder clip accessory?

the inside of the cover is yellow, which is very similar to mnemosyne’s traditionally yellow endpapers, which further cements the mnemosyne reference:

the official merchandise is a book that is similar to a moleskine or a leuchtturm journal, the blue cover matches the overworld model. im inclined to think this is simply because of ease of manufacturing these styles of book, it’s even a more default A5 size instead of the smaller A6 it should be.

my little tiny thesis to gather all of these facts in a satisfying manner to me is as such: he has a ring bound notebook, real world equivalent being the mnemosyne, but with a jacket similar to a hobonichi:

this covers the extra details like the two pen clips and the possibility of tucking away some accessories like the binder clip. on top of that it makes a lot of sense, considering a notebook cover is strong, protects a notebook that can easily be filled up and swapped out, and also has little pockets inside which of course are very handy. he’d like that.

silly little details i suppose but i love how diana’s room is a mixture of so many things like i’m truly obsessed with the way it didn’t end up just being a generic pink princess sort of bedroom with bare walls and no clutter and instead she’s got some castle-y snowglobe and a picture with an extra funky frame on her bedside table, a massive snake toy across her headboard and teddies and dolls and a fancy little vanity, tons of horse riding awards and pictures she’s drawn hung on the walls and i just love how real it is to be honest

(I've only played 5 so I'm only gonna cover those characters (+ Patty because I love her))

• If Vergil had a normal childhood and teen hood he totally would be in the Goth or Visual Kei scene (totally not projecting my own style onto him)

• Lady and Trish are dating but Dante is oblivious, they can't tell if hes pretending not to know or not

• Nero and Nico always argue on which flavour of various things tastes better as conversation starters and it always ends up in a slap fight

• Vergil and Dante sleep in the same way, sprawled out on the bed messily, Vergil just doesn't admit it (least he doesn't snore).

• Patty considers Nero as a pseudo brother/cousin which leads to shenanigans

• KYRIE IS ALSO GOTH!!!!! she has very religious undertones in what she wears

• Lady actually sleeps with one eye open, it scares everyone

• Trish got scouted by a modelling agency once and she gave it a shot, but immediately quit as her first shoot got her front page of a big fashion magazine and she became really popular for a bit

And when things started proving to be different, *you* made the conscious choice to see where things were going. Now you're mad and miffed that it wasn't as faithful an adaptation as The Lion King 2019 was to the original 💀. Coming from an AuDHDer, please understand that your neurodivergent rigidity can only be accommodated so much, my friend. Real people worked hard to make this. Different people from the book's production. *More* people than the book's production. And you know what's crazy is that, despite all of this, some of the tone of minor scenes may have changed, but nothing major truly did. We did it-- we got a faithful adaptation!! If it's not your cup of tea, if your mind's eye just cannot be topped, it's all good. Just say, "this seemed cooler in my head." But oh my god, I'm tired of the Rick slander. I say this as someone with mental disabilities, sometimes you just gotta take the L and do it. Maybe it'll cost you and send you into negative spoons but sometimes you gotta. We have a human debt we owe to one another and we have to fight for each other.

Disabilities make things hard to do safely, without pain, etc. Where you can, seek accomodations, ask for help, live your life, and do good in the world in the ways you can.

What we can't do with our disabilities? We can't sit here and wallow and use them as a shield.

ive watched 3 seasons of 911 in a week. and yeah i also watched the last two s7 eps that came out. yes ive seen spoilers for like the whole show and im still having fun. and hey, the next ep doesnt come out till may so i have time to catch up! honesty seems to be something that's very important to adam -- say what you will about him, but he isn't a liar. keeping the exterminations quiet is as close to a lie as he gets ( but i would say it isn't technically a lie of omission, as that would require someone questioning the goings-on in hell and adam not bringing it up in his answer ) and he actively seems to hold a lot of disdain towards liars ;; particularly towards vaggie.

when he confronts her in episode 6, she lies about not knowing what he's talking about -- and it makes him drop the fun, overly-obnoxious act he puts on to question if she REALLY thinks he wouldn't recognize her, asked as if she thought he was that dumb. and again, one of his last lines in you didn't know ;; "did you ever think your little girlfriend might be a liar? " he was already pretty angry by this point, but while it's definitely condescending, the delivery of this line makes adam sound almost angry FOR charlie, and i feel like how sure adam was that exposing vaggie would damage her and charlie's relationship beyond repair only emphasizes that. i mean, one of his first formative experiences was being cheated on. it only follows that being lied to, ESPECIALLY about something so important, would be a dealbreaker in adam's mind.

but i find it especially interesting that "don't lie" isn't on adam's list of what he believes gets someone into heaven. and this isn't about lying specifically, but i also think it's interesting that "don't kill" isn't on that list, either. he's a massive hypocrite in other aspects, but murder is something he has nuanced feelings about. killing another person is a situational case, but not theft. it's so interesting.
