soap stills, body trembling beneath his hand as he sucks in shaking breaths.

he tightens his grip, pulling him closer and digs his forehead hard into his. “it means you give yourself to me so i can have the weapon that you are and use you the way you're meant to be used."

the ice in soap's eyes fractures.

ghost’s voice drops to a whisper, spoken only to johnny, not this facade of vengeance and pain, and wills it to reach him through the glaciers.

okay very preliminary thoughts on mitski's new album BUT i think there's something with how "laurel hell" felt like a goodbye to the music industry (can't find the source but i remember reading that it was intended to be her last album under her contract) like i'm sorry anthony fantano but if you interpret the back half of "laurel hell" as being generic breakup songs you're missing like 80% of the context. to me TO ME it feels so clearly about her negotiating her relationship with fame, how she can't love her fans the way they love her, and how she feels like she sold her soul to her job, so the only thing to do is step away. but THEN "the land is inhospitable and so are we" was created after mitski decided to renegotiate her contract, specifically because she loved making music enough to deal with the negative aspects of the work. and then all the songs are about the ghost of love she can leave behind, despite the present pain or emptiness, and like. do you see it. do you see it.

People seem to be under the impression that Jonouchi hates his dad but he. doesn't. He never says anything like that. The only thing Jou ever says about his relationship with his dad is an earnestly expressed optimism and wish that if he just does well enough then the guy will quit drinking and they will return to a happy family life. He never seems to blame his dad at all, and is instead knee-deep in denial while hiding it from his friends and externalizing the problem--that it's not that his dad is awful, it's the debts, it's the drink, it's that Jonouchi hasn't fixed it yet.

And that's frustrating because we as the audience know that he's 16 and being abused and needs to get the hell out of there, and that as he gets older he'll need to come to terms with those facts. But as far as analyzing past and canon-present behavior goes, I don't think it ever makes sense to say that Jonouchi Is Doing X Because He Hates His Dad. He doesn't. Jonouchi is still deeply attached to the always-just-steps-away fantasy world where his dad cleans up his act and tells him how proud he is and they go play catch together.

There’s a general consensus that above all else Jason should be homicidal again. However I think what’s also very important is that he should be a fucking hoot.

There’s nothing not funny about this entire bit.
