I AM TIRED OF THIS DISCOURSE

Dominant =/= top

People, just because a character is the "top" in the bedroom does not make them the dominant one in the relationship.

Just because a character chooses to cook and clean does not make them submissive.

What makes a character the dominant one is if they are:

primary decision maker

given consent from the other partner to be the primary deision maker

i applaud KDTM for having the older, more experienced guy allow the younger guy to top.

BUT JUST BECAUSE THE YOUNGER BOY WITH NO EXPERIENCE IN RELATIONSHIPS WAS ON TOP DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE IS DOMINANT.

I don't even know why we're bringing this discussion into a relationship that has absolutely no intention of being dom/sub.

It's just a relationship between an older guy who is a gangster and a younger guy who wants to be a doctor.

I feel like we have completely lost our ability to recognize a regular relationship because everyone wants to assign traditional heterosexual roles to a queer one and it always ends up being a weird mix of bdsm for no reason at all.

Both guys discuss everything. One person wants this, the other person doesn't so what do they do? they discuss. they explain their sides of the story and then TOGETHER, they make decisions. Even when they were about to have sex, Rui brought it up. He didn't just lay there and let Yi do whatever, but Yi assured him he could handle it. (spoiler: he couldn't). but the point is that it was discussed.

THIS IS WHAT HEALTHY COMMUNICATION LOOKS LIKE.

Rui is not dominant. Yi is not dominant. They're both just in love.

Being a top does not mean that Yi is suddenly dominant. for any reason. Because they've not had that conversation and neither character has shown any interest in dominating the other.

I swear to god!

Just because Rui said he wants to stay at home, doesn't mean he is anybody's submissive anything. And just because Yi is younger doesn't make him submissive either.

Top/bottom is not synonymous with dom/sub.
