The loss of Sidney Poitier struck me particularly hard this year. Thank you, Mr. Poitier. I can't yet say for what I am thanking you, but thank you, nonetheless.

banned from adding stops to the road trip (hill i wanted to walk up was judged a ‘very small mountain,’ the view from the top was of the absence of a view, added time to the drive so we would go past a giant ant statue)

A moment of your attention, if you will? As imspited by bookshop owner AU and the latest Branch... A Desmond who is not reborn, but still ends up as a lady, but in Renaissance Italy. And, by a happenstance, ends up taking Cristina's place as Ezio's first crush. Que Desmond spending too much time rejecting Ezio - so far as being moved (by parents) from Firenze, to Venice, to Rome. Only for the (chivalrous) pursuit to continue there, too. In short - Ezio being a competent lovesick fool
Desmond doesn’t even want to get involved in any of this Assassins / Templar bullshit anymore. Her new parents are nice and the bookshop they have is pretty neat…
She just goes wherever her parents go. They have a bookshop and she helps out, maybe even screwing up the timeline so badly she becomes Leonardo’s model for the Mona Lisa and doesn’t even realize it until Ezio buys the damn painting and hears the name ‘Mona Lisa’ from his lips.
Then, when her parents finally ask her to take care of a bookshop that’s in trouble in their stead, she travels to Constantinople and…
And Ezio comes in and asks for help and they find out that her parent’s sad little bookshop leads underground and…
Holy shit.
Desmond didn’t just accidentally take Cristina’s place as Ezio’s first love.
She also took Sofia’s place as the woman of Ezio’s dreams who just so happen to have a bookshop.
God damn it!

I've had fun booping today. It might be the weather, but it's made me miss @saint-batrick. Bats was, like, my only active mutual on this site. Another Olde, who remembered the internet before it was tamed, a exhilaratingly dangerous wilderness. They would have loved this. Just… charging into the website, wildly swinging a pool noodle. Cackling with glee as their boop-meter breaks.
(also, I could have used the help. 😏 I don't know how y'all are getting that last badge, this has been exhausting. 🥱 )
