i think kim is just as complex of a character as harry, but i think a good amount of players (not all, but a chunk) choose to unflinchingly characterize him as “the Good Cop” and leave it at that.

Medical racism isn't important to address just because it's mean to be racist to patients (I mean, it is mean), but because medical racism kills people. It contributes to systemic suffering of those deemed non-white, and the disinformation that spreads about non-white people.

Danver’s specific brand of racism is so intrenched in love it’s fascinating. Her daughter is precious to her and her daughter is Indigenous and in this town, an Indigenous woman is not viewed as a precious thing. They are abused and raped and murdered and therefore, being white is the ‘better’ choice. She is actively whitewashing her daughter, not only because she’s afraid of what she doesn’t understand and because of typical coloniser mentality, but because she doesn’t want to lose her. Danvers can’t distance Indigenous identity from white violence and it’s killing what she loves.

@daughterofstories @freegazafromhamas @inklingm8 @tochecha @jewishgay4il y'all got blocked because our friend here @amphibiousflorence has enough spoons to be antisemitic but not enough spoons to talk about their internalized antisemitism or how this has affected their view of millenia-spanning geopolitical conflicts in an area of the world they've never been to.
Background below the cut:
For those out of the loop, @amphibiousflorence made a new thread to announce they were Out Of Spoons to deal with the concerned Jews in their notes begging OP to reconsider their words...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...including one @freegazafromhamas who is descended from survivors of the Holocaust (as am I), ie a genocide which took place in a "civilized part of the world" where nobody thought such a thing would be possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Antisemitism has been a force of nature for 3700 years. We can fight it around the world all we want, we will never root it out everywhere that Jews exist. Just like any other form of bigotry. What we CAN do is provide Jews a safe haven from this force of nature in their ancestral homeland.
Hey @amphibiousflorence, don't use your disability to weasle your way out of the consequences of being a bigot! Unless the Elon Musk club sounds like a fun place to be?

B'Elanna, Neelix, Tuvok and Chakotay needed to star in an episode where they just talked about their different beliefs and approaches to spirituality/religion. Paired off and all together. I need to gain more insight. I need characterization and I need it to be messy.
#B'Elanna's difficulty with Klingon myths and religion (especially due to her internalized racism)#Chakotay's current strong belief in his own spirituality despite his initial complete rejection of it (and how B'Elanna seems to admire#and have talked with Chakotay about it extensively in the past given how many specifics she's aware of)#Neelix's belief in an afterlife being the only thing that comforted him after his entire family was killed - the knowledge that he would be#able to reunite with them again and that knowledge being ripped away from him#Does he still believe? Are there other aspects of his previous spiritual beliefs that are thrown into question?#Just because it isn't 'real' does it make it unimportant? How do we even know whether or not it's 'real'?#He died and doesn't remember reaching that tree and seeing his family - does that mean it didn't happen?#Tuvok's line in 'Innocence' about how he's begun to have doubts about whether or not a katra exists and what happens after someone dies#and his firm ties to Vulcan spirituality and ritual#ALL SO INTERESTING!!!!!!!!#star trek voyager#I don't think it'd be a calm or healthy conversation either - they're not therapists and I don't think anyone but Chakotay#would be particularly careful with his words#and before you say Tuvok's a Vulcan so he would be let me remind you that Tuvok told B'Elanna to her face that he thought Klingons#were basically savages - he is INDELICATE to say the least#Neelix is careful with his words bc he's a people pleaser for survival but also he has a tendency to bother people and be overly pushy#and I think he'd do a lot of research and be the one leading the conversation/the reason they get on the topic and continue on it#B'Elanna wouldn't want to talk about it. She wants to talk about it the least. But she must!!!! Bc the episode demands it!!#st voy

You're going to regret being mean to me when I get super powerful and cool, Minthara D< Just watch me romance Astarion again and know that it could have been you if you hadn't called me an abomination.
… and yes, obviously I'm romancing her in another playthrough with an evil drow. As if I wouldn't be batting my eyelashes at a mean drow woman.
We've got a support system for drow lovers over at Patreon, society6, and redbubble. It's... mostly talking about how much we love drow though.

The more I learn about Tenoch Huerta, the more I respect this man’s incredible energy:
Online, he calls himself “Prieto Resentido” (resentful dark-skinned man)
Openly speaks out about racist typecasting & colorism in both Mexico and in Hollywood
Gave a TED Talk about Racism, then created a multi-video series to expand on the topic.
Calls out ‘Whitexicans’ (both online and in his video series) for their disconnect from the reality of racism, colorism, and associate classism within Mexican society.
Spoke out against the massive development project to build a 950-mile rail line through the rainforest to bring tourists to Mayan archeological sites. Rightfully called it a “Colonialist Project” and said that the Mayan people should be making the decisions about it themselves (rather than the wealthy elite).
Basically says exactly what he thinks about people’s behavior, and doesn’t give a shit about playing nice in the entertainment industry.
Co-Founded a group to raise awareness about racism, Poder Prieto. (Tenoch is apparently so outspoken, the organization has asked him to cool it a little.... but he hasn’t, what a king).
My Guy literally said: “I don’t want to win this game. I don’t want to be a champion of this game. I want to destroy the fucking game.” Holy Shit, we stan.

Physogs, the Novel Card Game (1940s) · Playing cards (eyes - nose - mouth) Physogs, a British game from the 1940s, is a popularized version of physiognomy, the art of judging human character from facial features. Based on sociologist Jacques Penry's How to Judge Character from the Face (1939), the game consists of fifty-six...

sometimes little brown girls aren't allowed to be girls. sometimes little brown girls aren't dainty enough, or pretty enough, or girly enough to be considered girls; sometimes they call them tomboys just for their appearance. sometimes they strip them of any chance at femininity and leave them wishing, wanting, desiring that acceptance.
and how is one of those little brown girls supposed to grow up and know that she's not a girl anymore? how is she to reject all that which she never had, as so many expect her to? how can he pretend that his experiences are just the same as those who were so easily accepted into being girls?
or maybe it's easier for me, to leave it behind without knowing it.
maybe it's easier to break a relationship with a passing acquaintance than it is a best friend.

I LOVE HAHN. He spins in my head like a microwave plate. He could have been so much!!! He could have parelled Sokka's insecurities about his culture, by showing him up as the poster boy in the village. Only to fail at his single duty, PROTECT YUE. Lived his whole life next to her, believing that it'll continue forever, only for her to completely disappear??? (Would they have been united in their grief? Their shame?)
He grew up with Yue, like there is so much to explore with that, which could have expanded greatly into how we see Yue's character and the NWT. They could have been best friends, they could have barely stood each other, they could have been struggling to stay together while their community suffers under the war.
Unlike Sokka's skepticism, Hahn could have believed in spirits. He could have had such conviction in them that he was horrified. Perhaps he lost family members to spirits, perhaps he recieved premonitions of them, perhaps he knew deep down inside that if spirits could give life to Yue, they could always take it away. He could have always known Yue's time on earth was on a countdown, which caused him to be on guard with people around her, even herself, leading to all the issues in their relationship. Every single question people had of Yue? Every thought about whether or not she was happy, as a human, or if she'll be happy, as the moon? Exactly what Hahn thinks all the time.
Always hearing it's "annoying" to develop such minor characters. Fine whatever, I get annoyed too, that I have to rework the WTs constantly to fix the deadend stereotypes the creators slapped onto them. (Btw, could we develop water tribe characters without tearing down the WTs to make them "good natives" under their "oppressive society"? Please?) Because if the show keeps saying the water tribe has a strong community and Yue's whole thing is that she loves her people so much she'll sacrifice herself for them (note: not cause of her "daddy issues"), then yeah. I'd expect Hahn to be at least "tolerable".
But no, I guess the fandom has time to flesh the billionth minor fire nation character with sympathic racist headcanons! Again!! But not any on the people they ethnically erase. Too convenient to take out anger on sexist native stereotypes opposed to... all the other sexist characters in show, like the FN! Lmao.
I like this show a lot, but...this fandom............
Seconding everything. When i'm less tired i'd like to add my specific thoughts, but yeah, i thoroughly agree with all this.
