In @ashen-crest's last newsletter, she talked about main quests and side quests and it stayed hidden in my mind until today in my adventure on the
✧‧͙⁺˚・ Outside World ・˚⁺‧͙✧
It wasn't fun.
But I had an important main quest composed of three parts.
Main Quest: Go out and come back victorious!
That wasn't The Name, but it didn't have a name and that's lame, so it will have to be its name now.
Part 1 of 3: Go to the university and get a tablet.
I attend the public university and the government was giving tablets to students, so my sisters and I took the chance and wanted to go for one each.
They didn't say what kind of tablet they were giving.
They didn't say in what part of the university they were giving it. And it's not called the University Zone for nothing.
It only said the date and the period of time they were going to be giving it, from 8am to 1pm.
I wanted to go very early to be of the firsts to have it and to avoid making a line, but my sisters weren't vibing with it and instead decided to get out of the house at 8.
We get out at 8.40.
Side Quest #1: Take out the trash on your way ✅
How we were going to go to the university?
We had a few options:
A public car, which would be faster, even if we have to walk down fifteen minutes.
The university bus (which isn't grand, is like any bus, but goes to the university) would leave us just outside the doors, but it can take longer to appear.
The cheapest bus, even if we have to walk towards one stop and walk down fifteen minutes.
My sisters took the fourth unknown option (At least unknown to me until right before going out):
The new route of the cheapest bus, because it was giving free rides due to its launching and still goes a long way after the university stop.
But we still had to walk down fifteen minutes.
My sister didn't fall on that until we were riding that bus. But walking down for fifteen minutes, even a two-part-steep slope, wasn't that bad.
I would still rather do that alone, though, they walk so damn fast.
Side Quest #2: Buy something for breakfast ✅
I just had a chinola juice, though. Better than nothing! And everything I wanted to have at the moment.
So, we went inside the university part of the University Zone and did the smartest thing a student there can do: go to the library.
A few steps after passing the university entrance arch, though, my sister saw a security man and did the very-much-more smartest thing a student can do: ask.
And you know what?
He said it was in the library.
Bam! I told her. Azu wins one.
He also said he wasn't going to tell us because we wanted to know, but he was joking... He was joking, right? He told us at the end!
So we went to the library.
We couldn't go in the three together because one of my sisters was eating her half of the fruit plate they bought for breakfast, so I went in only with one of them. We saw immediately where the whole circus was having place... and to be honest, it wasn't that bad. Okay, at first sight, it was, but when I understood what was happening, it was okay.
There were three desks with one person each. A bunch of tablet boxes on one side. Only one guard making sure the three lines were something similar to order (I didn't see any order, though).
We went to the end of the closest one, taking out our cellphones to have the digital version of our university carnet and our ids (I didn't know I had to take it out, but after my sister said so, I did so). The guard, though, told us to go to the second line, and again, I did so. My sister didn't. And panic started bubbling.
If you don't know, Azu is hard of hearing and her hearing aids don't make communication better, so when her sister refused to go alongside her, she started p a n i c k i n g ✨
When I was three or four people away from the desk, they moved us again to the third desk, but I heard the guy sitting behind it clearly and it changed everything.
At my turn, I showed my digital university carnet, which he scanned (twice, but those are details), asked my name, I confirmed, and then showed my id. He told me to go to one of the sides, where confirmed people were writing down their basic information on a list before grabbing their tablet boxes. I was number 24 on that page, so maybe things weren't as wild as I thought, uh.
SO, with my kid's tablet box (because that's what was said in the box), I waited for my sister to finish writing and we both went out of the library and to my waiting another sister.
I told her what she had to do, but as my first sister sat down to eat her remaining half of the fruit plate, my another sister grab me by the arm and made me go inside the library again.
This time, the first line was longer than the others, so I told her to be on the second one. But the third one was shorter, so I prompted her and she told me to get in line for her just in case. I called for her many times, because the third one was shorter and, hence, faster, but she said to wait and to wait.
All that time I was stressing myself, praying for the guard to not notice me and recognize that I already did that, thinking I was trying to get two tablets for myself.
My sister had to come to my place, though, and after she wrote down her basics and took her box, we were ready to go...
Or not?
Anyway, that made the Part 1 of 3: Go to the university and get a tablet ✅
You can go now to read about Parte 2.
