So I have some further thoughts on Luke's behavior and attitude towards the Jedi in TLJ based on reading this post that's been going around recently that showed some comic panels discussing the public's views about the Jedi during the Prequels era. In it, it says that Palpatine is able to encourage hate towards the Jedi because, on some level, the public already hated the Jedi, equally as much as they loved them, because "It is hard to look at people who have become their best selves and the Jedi represent people who have already figured out how to be their best selves. It reminds you that you have not." The Jedi being good people naturally creates a COMPARISON between themselves and the people they've chosen to serve. Some people might choose to be inspired by that and rise to the challenge, but others choose to be defeated by that and fall more into despair. But those people don't want to ADMIT to defeat and so, instead, they blame the Jedi. They hate the Jedi. They accept the Jedi as scapegoats for their own failings.
This is a common pattern we see across the Prequels era, the Jedi becoming scapegoats for the galaxy's failures. They die because the Republic is corrupt, they die because ANAKIN is corrupt, and neither the Republic nor Anakin want to look at themselves honestly and do the work it takes to be better, so when Palpatine tells them that their struggles and failures are in fact the JEDI'S FAULT, it's so much easier to believe that than it is to accept the truth.
And it's hardly just the Republic that has this problem, Dooku does something similar with the Separatists, turning the Jedi into their personal villains, their children's boogeymen, who started this war with their own arrogance, so that they can keep on looking the other way as their army commits atrocity after atrocity in their name.
Those who try to remain neutral also tend to blame the Jedi for not putting an end to it, for fighting back at all, for not somehow miraculously managing to create a peace with the Separatists. Satine does it, the Lurmen do it, those little farmers on Felucia do it, Trace and Rafa Martez do it. It's so much easier to blame the Jedi for doing or being enough than it is to recognize that this war happened because EVERYONE ELSE was choosing to be selfish rather than work towards peace and all the Jedi can do in response is protect as many innocent civilians as they can until the people in charge ARE willing to put in the work to find peace. But instead of recognizing that complicated reality and unraveling the web that spells out that YOU ARE ALSO PART OF THE PROBLEM, it's so much easier to just blame the Jedi.
They became the galaxy's scapegoats, MOST ESPECIALLY during the Prequels era. It disappears more during the Rebellion era, probably because it's pretty hard to blame the galaxy's problems on a people everyone thinks has been wiped out already. And the rebellion itself seems to see the Jedi more positively, as a symbol of hope in a desperate war that they have no hope of winning without help. Obi-Wan and Luke represent that hope to a lot of people.
But then the Jedi are killed again and the only person left behind is Luke. Luke who fell prey to his own doubts, Luke who made a mistake that had disastrous consequences, Luke who feels guilty. And he cannot face the pain and the guilt and the fear he feels about what he believes he's done, the failure he now sees himself as, so he runs and he hides.
And he blames the Jedi. Like his father before him.
It's too painful to look at himself and acknowledge what he's done in order to let it go and move forward. It's too painful to face his own fears and doubts. So he doesn't. He tells himself the problem was in the way HE was taught, the problem was in the system itself, not the teacher. The problem came from the Jedi, not himself, never himself.
The Jedi become the scapegoats for their own destruction, yet again. The Jedi get blamed so a Skywalker can hide from the pain of his own failures, yet again.
And while Luke seems to barely know anything about the Jedi in the original trilogy, and what he does know seems to be generally positive, it's entirely possible he heard some of those whisperings about how the Jedi had been corrupt, how the Jedi had started the war in their arrogance, how the Jedi had maybe deserved what was done to them, how maybe the galaxy was better off without them. Maybe he heard rumors that the Jedi had taken children from their families, that the Jedi were incapable of love. And during his years in the rebellion, after meeting Obi-Wan and Yoda, he knows this to be untrue, he's heard plenty of legends about them as these great heroes that he believes more, but after his own failure, maybe those whispers come back to him and start to grow. Those whispers and rumors build a nice little shrubbery around the darkness he's allowing to fester in his heart, keeping him from having to ever look at it fully. What if those whispers had been right all along and HE'D been the one in the wrong to think that Obi-Wan and Yoda were the heroes of legend? What if the real mistake had been in trying to become a Jedi in the first place?
It's so so easy to blame the Jedi. So much easier than facing the truth. It might be Luke's first time doing it, but he becomes part of a long-standing tradition in the galaxy of letting the Jedi become scapegoats for their own failures. Of course he's wrong, the galaxy's always been wrong, that's how scapegoats WORK.
But isn't it so much easier to just blame the Jedi?

The disaster family at Disneyland:
Obi Wan: organises an absolutely immaculate itinerary planning the day from start to finish down to the last second. He has meticulously calculated and timed every single ride people want to go on in order to anticipate when the lines will be the shortest, and has accommodated every single one of the parks everyone wants to visit.
Anakin: immediately runs off as soon as they get in, destroying all of Obi Wan’s plans.
Ahsoka: follows him but feels bad about it later and comes back to find Obi Wan. She forces him to wear matching Minnie Mouse ears with her which doesn’t actually take much convincing. They both look adorable in them.
Rex: looks apologetic about the desertion and will claim he wants to go off to find them and bring them back but will get distracted and inevitably dragged onto rides by Anakin. He doesn’t like rollercoasters (cue flashbacks of every time Anakin has crashed a ship or used the force to throw him) but it’s too late because he’s already in line and Anakin is very persuasive.
Cody: helped Obi Wan plan everything and can see how stressed he is so he goes to find them all and actually brings them back. Ahsoka comes back on her own though because she knows Anakin is a bad influence. Cody also particularly enjoys the parades and is trying to come up with a good excuse to hold Obi Wan’s hand throughout the day. He’ll claim it’s so they don’t get separated but no one believes that, not even him, but they’re all too scared to challenge him on it.
Padmé: An absolute adrenaline junkie. If the ride moves slowly, she’s not interested. She was fine with It’s A Small World the first thirteen times Luke made her go on it because she will gladly make sacrifices for her children but it’s getting to be too much. She longs for the rides that move so fast it feels like her head might be detached from her body. That’s what she came here for.
Luke: Wants to meet all the Princesses and is adorable doing it too. He’s scared of Mickey Mouse though and I do not blame him. That mouse is evil. He can feel it in the force.
Leia: Stays by Obi Wan’s side the entire day. She knows she’s too small for a lot of the rides, but she respects how organised he is. Refuses to let go of his hand. When she gets tired, she rides on Cody’s shoulders. She’s also able to convince absolutely anyone to buy her anything she wants from the gift shops. It doesn’t matter how expensive the thing is. She gets her persuasive abilities from her father (and Obi Wan has also been teaching her to negotiate a little too) who as it turns out is actually the weakest when it comes to saying no to her. Anakin is the biggest girl-dad and that is canon.
Fives: Points out at one point they’re in one of the parks that seems to sell merchandise with them on it. There are droids literally everywhere as well as people in very familiar costumes but no one notices. No one can see past the fourth wall except him. Once more, Fives knows the truth and is ignored. He gives up and gets a picture taken with the Darth Vader they have in the park and texts it directly to Anakin and says “look familiar?”. The reply he gets is just “is that Black Panther?” Fives sighs. Anakin has the wrong franchise and he doesn’t even know, he thinks to himself. Fives has achieved full enlightenment and self-awareness. The idea that he is a fictional character should scare him, but it doesn’t. It’s actually way less pressure because then his terrible life choices aren’t actually on him. He didn’t write them. He claims no responsibility.
Echo: kidnapped by Mickey Mouse. Luke’s instincts were correct. The mouse cannot be trusted. Echo will not be recovered until season 7 where they come back with The Bad Batch. For now he will remain lost in Magic Kingdom until he is either rescued or becomes part of the park.

“If I said no, would you really believe me?” Grim & Anakin?
Secrets & Lies Sentences, Vol. 3
a secret told
Tumblr media
Grim and Anakin's relationship hadn't been the same ever since she let slip that she knew what he did on Tatooine. Of course it couldn't be possible, there was no way for her to know that, not a way that Anakin was aware of anyways.
He would occasionally confront her about her secrets and lies after that. He knew she was lying now, and he couldn't trust her the same way anymore. Not when he knew she was clearly lying, and she knew more than she should.
Everyone else seemed to act as if it was normal. Obi-Wan never questioned her when she said something strange about something she couldn't possibly know. Ahsoka, who used to be as confused as he was, had also stopped questioning Grim’s strange way of knowing things once the two had started dating. Did Grim tell her something?
Sometimes Anakin wondered if he was the only one who could see that Grim was clearly lying. Or, if maybe, he was the only one who didn't know something.
He had, of course, overtime gotten used to Grim’s strange behavior and knowledge. Anyone who had been around her long enough had. At some point, they had all just accepted it. Except, after what happened on Mortis and what she revealed to him in the aftermath, he hadn't been able to shake it.
He walked up to Grim one day. “Can we talk?” He asked.
She looked up at him, confusion clearly written on her face. “Sure? What do you want to talk about, Skywalker?”
“Everyone else seems to just accept that you know things that you shouldn't be able to know, but you shouldn't know the things that you do.”
“We've had this conversation before,” sighed Grim. “I just have visions-”
“I have visions, Grim. The way you describe your visions don't match, you know too many details for it to just be visions. Tell me the truth. Do you really just have detailed visions?”
She smiled sadly, “if I said no, would you really believe me?”
His brows furrowed and he frowned. “Yes, I would believe you. Why would you think I wouldn't?”
“Because how I really know things is unbelievable,” she replied. “I wouldn't blame you if you didn't believe me, Master Kenobi didn't when I first told him.”
“What are you talking about? Wait, Master Kenobi knows?”
She nodded. “If I tell you, can you promise me you won't tell anyone?”
“Why?”
“Because it's dangerous, how I know things, and the amount that I know,” she admitted.
This only confused him more. “How would it be dangerous?”
“Anakin, can you promise you won't tell anyone?”
He hesitated for a moment. “Yes, I promise I won't tell anyone.”
“Okay,” she replied. She took a deep breath, and closed her eyes. For a moment it looked like she entered a miniature meditation state. She opened her eyes again. “I'm from another universe. In my universe, this is all fictional. I've seen everything happen before, both for the past and the future. I've been trying to change things, and make this have a happy ending.”
Anakin stared at her. He didn't know what to say. He didn't know how to react. “Another universe?” He echoed. The very concept of that in of itself-
She shifted, and her eyes no longer met his. “Yes,” she confirmed.
“And this is just fictional?” He asked, trying to make sense of what she just revealed.
“In my universe,” she said. “But it isn't here, I know that.”
“No, because this is our real lives,” said Anakin. “And we're real people, not just some characters in a holofilm.”
“I know that, Anakin. You stopped being characters-”
“We were never characters. This has never been fiction.”
“In this universe that's true, but in my universe-”
“Your universe doesn't matter here,” he told her, anger was beginning to seep into his voice. “What's been ‘fiction’ to you, has been real to me and everyone else who has lived. This war that's been entertainment for you, has been real for us-”
“I know that!” She snapped. “I know that,” she said quieter. “Anakin, I swear I know that. You aren't a character, this isn't fiction, I swear to you I know that.”
He swallowed. He couldn't look at her the same way. How could he? She had seen his entire life, she knew everything about him, he was only a character to her. Everything he had gone through had been entertainment for her.
He didn't know how to feel. He was angry, but he didn't know why. He focused on what else she had said. “You're trying to change things?”
It seemed she became only more nervous about this. “Yes,” she said, but didn't elaborate further.
“Why?” He asked. Obviously if she was trying to change things then something bad happens in the future, but what? What happened? Why does she feel the need to change this?
“This war doesn't have a happy ending.”
“We lose?”
“The Jedi lose.”
“What does that mean?”
She shifted nervously again. She refused to meet his gaze, and absently fiddled with her Padawan braid. “It's complicated.”
“Complicated how? If the Jedi lose, that means the Separatists win, right?”
“No, it doesn't,” she said. “It means the Sith win.”
“But, the Separatists are run by the Sith, there aren't any Sith in the Republic.”
She laughed. “I wish that was true,” she said. “No, Sidious controls both sides. I thought you knew this.”
He remembered hearing something about Sidious. “He's the Sith the Council has been looking for.”
“Yes.”
“Do you know who he is?”
She doesn't say anything, but he can tell that she knows.
“Grim…”
“I'm sorry, Anakin. If I told you that, then I know you wouldn't believe me.”
“Why wouldn't I-?” He started to ask, but Grim had run off before he could.
He was left standing there alone, unsure how to process what she had admitted to him, and what she had refused to.

More than friends
Hi! Here I come with a new request for my Comeback Event! This was requested by @karasong : “hi carole! nice to see you're back, hun. may i please request obi-wan kenobi w/ coworkers au & almost kissing (to actually kissing) for your comeback event? thank you!! 💐💗 »
Thank you so much for your request! It does feel good to be back indeed :)
I hope you like what I’ve prepared for your request.
Let me know what you think of this little fic :)
****
Pairing: Obi-Wan x reader
Warnings: Just fluff!! Shy Obi-Wan is very cute and dear to me. Also, made it a modern AU! cause it fit better with the coworkers vibes to me.
Summary: You and Obi-Wan have been coworkers and friends for a while. But when a barbecue is planned by your firm, you get a chance to take your relationship to the next level…
Word count: 2411
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan enjoyed having some alone time, he genuinely did. If he got along just fine with his coworkers, he still preferred the quiet and peace of his office for lunch, rather than the busy and noisy hall of the cafeteria.
It was almost noon, and as usual, Obi-Wan shut down his computer to take his lunch break. He got up from his chair behind his desk to grab the bag he had brought with him in the morning, that rested for now on the little table in the corner of his small office. He had prepared for himself a simple salade, vegetables and chicken. Simple but effective and healthy. All he needed to get through another long day at work. He sat down at his small table, took the Tupperware out of the bag along with his fork and knife, and grabbed his phone.
He didn’t eat though.
He scrolled through social media without paying much attention to what his screen displayed; instead, he kept an eye on the clock set up there, on the wall.
12:15. Only a few minutes to wait.
He eyed his meal, feeling his stomach grumbled, but didn’t open the little box before him. Instead, he mindlessly looked at his phone again. Only a few minutes to wait.
And he was right about that. Only a couple of minutes later, the door of his office was opening, without the bother of a knock.
He welcomed you with a warm smile.
“Hi Obi!” you chimed, closing the door behind you and sitting down at your usual spot, right next to him around his small circular table.
“Hello, Y/N.”
He gave you a warm smile, opening his lunchbox as you did the same with your own meal.
He noticed that your potatoes were warm, a little bit of steam rose from your lunchbox. It explained why you arrived after 12:10. You had to go downstairs to use the microwave, and then go all the way back up to the offices to eat with him. The thought of you purposefully coming back from the cafeteria to eat with him brought a smile to his face, but he didn’t say anything about it.
Better not.
“How was your morning?” he asks, his voice soft and calm, quiet, as it always was when he talked to you.
“Quite crazy,” you answered with a sigh. “With the summer holidays approaching, I have tons of things to finish so I can leave the office in peace for my well-earned vacation.”
“Same,” Obi-Wan nodded. “I heard that Anakin was struggling as well.”
“Anakin is always struggling. He’s too messy not to.”
Obi-Wan let out a chuckle, almost choking on his piece of bell pepper.
“That is quite true. I did do my best to mentor him though,” he heaved a dramatic sigh, and it was your time to laugh.
“He’s just beyond hope at this point.”
“Do you think you’ll be done by the end of the week?”
You shrugged.
“I hope so. If not, all these files will have to patiently wait for my return.”
Obi-Wan seemed to hesitate for a moment. He looked at you, weighing his options. He was apprehensive for your answer, yet he wanted to know.
But then again, he was often a little nervous around you. He blamed his long-lasting crush on you for that.
“Are you going to the barbecue on Friday night?” he asked at last, trying to sound nonchalant.
You studied his features for a moment, trying to guess what he intended to do. Truth was, you didn’t particularly enjoy extra-activities involving your coworkers. Sure, there were some you got along with quite well, Anakin was a good example. But then you would rather just gather with the few colleagues you genuinely liked, rather than to attend a big gathering involving the entire firm.
However… if Obi-Wan was going, then you were not completely against the idea. You blamed your long-lasting crush on him for that.
You shrugged, trying to sound as detached as you could, as if the topic didn’t matter to you. It mattered though, you had been thinking about this event for weeks…
“Probably, yes. I think so. Unless all the people I actually like will be absent, but otherwise, I think I’ll go.”
Obi-Wan nodded, trying to hide the smile that fought to form on his lips.
“Me too. I think I’ll go. It will probably be boring but… it’s for the firm. Besides, Anakin is going, and someone has to make sure he doesn’t get into too much trouble.”
You looked at him eating a piece of salad, but didn’t miss the sudden blush that had appeared on his cheeks, despite his cool appearance, his relaxed tone.
For the firm? You weren’t so sure about that.
When you planted your fork in your potato again, listening to Obi-Wan telling you about his weekend, you were grinning.
Tumblr media
It was sunny and warm and a little boring.
Events organized by your firm always were boring, but then, it came with the fact that it was work-related. You couldn’t fully let loose and be yourself in these circumstances. You couldn’t allow yourself to be tipsy when your boss was a few meters away.
It wasn’t too bad though. The weather was nice, the barbecue was good, and Obi-Wan was by your side.
He was laughing with Anakin, shaking his head disapprovingly as the young man told you about a reckless trek he was planning across the mountains.
“If you do fall into a crevasse, please, make sure not to call me for help,” Obi-Wan warned his friend, rolling his eyes.
“What makes you think I’ll need help?”
“The last seven years? Ever since we’ve met, basically. You do have a talent to get into trouble, no matter what you are doing.”
“You’re exaggerating.”
“Absolutely not.”
You couldn’t help but chuckle at your friends’ playful banter. These two were like brothers, bickering as much as they could.
You took a bite from your hot-dog, looking around. People were separated in small groups, talking casually, although all kept an eye out to make sure no eavesdroppers were around. It was, all in all, a strange atmosphere that you didn’t like very much.
Anakin was called by another colleague and left you alone with Obi-Wan.
You noticed that he was more nervous than usual. Which was a strange look to find on his features. He was always so calm, so composed. Sometimes, it made it hard to read his mind. Still, you noticed the slight frown across his brow, as well as the way he held his glass of orange juice tightly in his hand.
Obi-Wan was hesitating. He had bought these tickets to see a play next week. He wanted to ask you to go with him… as a date.
He reckoned that the two of you had been playing this game of hide and seek long enough, it was more than time for him to finally make a move. Because, the truth was, he liked you. A lot. An awful lot. Actually… he didn’t merely like you at all...
But how could he ask? You were friends, and coworkers. It made everything complicated.
He had to try though.
“Do you have plans for your well-earned holidays?” he asked, trying to sound detached and nonchalant.
“Seeing my parents. And sleeping. A lot,” you joked, making him chuckle. “What about you?”
“Sleeping does sound awfully tempting. Although, I do have a few plans with friends and… things of the kind. Actually… I wanted to ask you…”
But Obi-Wan was interrupted by your boss, as she called for everyone to gather together to play some kind of game.
Obi-Wan and you exchanged a glance.
“Why do I feel like you are not ready to volunteer for this fun activity?” you teased him, although you didn’t particularly want to join the game either.
“Because you know me well by now, obviously.”
“You should play…”
“Absolutely not. I am not five anymore.”
“Why don’t we escape then?”
He gave you a fond smile, nodding.
You managed to run away from the party, walking across the patch of grass near your office building. You were aiming for the parking lot, the loud sounds of your colleagues slowly diminishing as you walked away.
It was quieter now, as the setting sun bathed the world in a golden hue. Its reflection on the cars was blinding.
“What did you want to ask me earlier?” you finally broke the comfortable silence that had settled between the two of you.
You were crossing the parking lot, but none of you was eager to part. You passed before Obi-Wan’s car, then yours, and didn’t stop walking until you reached a low wall made of red bricks. You sat on the edge, and Obi-Wan leaned against it as well, right by your side. You had both left your drinks at the party. The sounds of the gathering could barely reach you now. It was late, and at the back of the parking lot, there was no one. Behind you, the small street was empty as well.
“Oh… just… I…”
He took a deep breath. Why was he so nervous? He wasn’t the kind to be nervous…
But then, he was talking to you, and you had a special talent to mess up with his entire world in the best way possible.
“I’ve bought some tickets to go see a play next week,” he finally said, struggling to keep his calm voice.
“Exciting!”
“I was wondering if you would like to go with me… maybe…”
“Oh! That would be nice, yes!”
He gave you a smile, but he knew that you did not fully understand what he meant. He could see it in your eyes. You didn’t take his question as an offer for a date, but for a friendly activity.
He shook his head.
“Maybe we could go to a restaurant before that.”
You slightly frown at him, but nodded anyway.
“Sure, that would be nice.”
“Y/N?”
“Yes.”
“I mean… I’m asking this… not simply as a coworker. Do you understand?”
You looked at him warily.
“As a friend?” you slowly asked, cautious.
Your heart jumped, skipped a beat and burst under your ribs when he shook his head.
“No… I meant… as more than a friend.”
He looked away, setting his eyes on the tip of his brown shoes. He couldn’t stand it anymore, the way you stared at him… as if you longed to read right through him…
“If… if you don’t want to, of course, then… we can simply forget it happened at all. I… I would never ask you anything like this ever again. After all, we do work together and it could make things more complicated and…”
“Obi-Wan?”
He fell silent, looking up at you again.
You gave him a warm smile.
“I’d love to go with you. As… more than friends.”
You grinned at each other.
And as he stared at you, he couldn’t help but study every detail of your features. Couldn’t help but stare at your lips, and he barely noticed the way he leaned down towards them, it was like he was falling and couldn’t help it at all. Stronger than gravity, he couldn’t escape from it…
You didn’t stop him. As you saw him leaning towards you, you didn’t stop him. Instead, you actually tilted up your head to face him even more, to get your lips closer to his…
His hand slowly moved upwards so he could rest his fingertips along your jaw, and you shuddered at the feeling, delightful shivers running up your spine under his touch.
You closed your eyes as his breath fanned across your mouth…
But you both jumped as a loud laughter came breaking the tensed silence that had settled around you. You put some distance between the two of you, the moment broken. You looked in the direction of the laugh, and found a pair of your coworkers, a little inebriated, who were crossing the parking lot and thus walking towards the two of you, probably aiming for the bus stop a few meters down the adjacent street. You cleared your voice and stood up.
“I think I should go home, I’m rather tired.”
Obi-Wan nodded, and you didn’t fail to notice how flushed his cheeks were.
The two coworkers ignored you, and you didn’t mind at all. You were happy to simply walk towards your car with Obi-Wan by your side.
He brushed his fingers against yours, and you did the same, but didn’t hold hands. Still, the gentle, almost shy touch made your hearts jump.
You crossed the few meters separating you from your car, and you spoke again as you were looking for your keys in the pocket of your jeans.
“When is the play, then?”
“Next Wednesday.”
“Okay. That sounds fun.”
“I hope it will be. I… I am very happy you accepted to come.”
You exchanged a shy smile, and Obi-Wan opened your car door for you. You thanked him, resting a hand on the top of the door.
“Good night, Y/N.”
But just as you were about to sit in your car, you turned to him again, staring right into his blue eyes. You studied the two colourful orbs, a few strands of his dark blonde hair falling before them as he was a little dishevelled after a long day.
Your eyes travelled down from his cheekbones, to his cheeks covered by a short beard, to his pink lips. And you couldn’t resist…
Before he could say anything else, you were pressing your lips against his in a kiss.
It was still a little shy, and lasted just long enough for him to realize what was happening and react by kissing you back. Just a few seconds, just enough to make you both breathless. When you pulled away, he leaned further to chase after your lips.
He looked a little stunned when he opened his eyes, and you couldn’t refrain a satisfied grin.
“Well… good night then, Obi-Wan.”
You climbed in your car, and he closed the door behind you. He waved at you as you started the car and finally drove out of the parking lot.
Obi-Wan though, remained for a while standing there, as night was slowly falling upon the world, the party finally dying out.
When he walked to his car, at last, he was grinning like an idiot.

Imagine you are Anakin's daughter. It's just you and him after the fall of Republic. You are the reason why he's never made to dark side, you are his priority. Until the Empire eventually finds the two of you.
Warnings: it's an alternative universe; Y/N is his only daughter. There's drama and fluffy. This Anakin is 50% himself, 50% Vader. Lightly inspired by the early plot of “Rogue One”.
Recommendations: “Penny & Me”, Hanson. “Who Knew”, Pink.
***
Age 4.
You dream a weird dream. It’s filled with scary moments, darkness and confusion. You remember you had a twin sibling, maybe a brother, and Force seemed to push you. But you didn’t want to be pushed. You wanted to remain.
So you did. You stayed. When you breathed the pure air out of your lungs, you were washed with a sense of relief. The scenario changes, though. You see him in a volcano planet. You want to reach out of him.
“Don’t be in pain, papa! Don’t be sad!”
But you see a man wearing a dark cape and when you see closely, he’s torturing your father. It’s when you scream.
And you wake him.
Anakin was sleeping in the floor, giving the single size bed to you. Upon your screams, he’s now rushed to your side. You clung unto him and the former Jedi senses you are in hurt.
“My dear child”, he rocks you against him, his hand stroking your sandy curls that resemble his. “What’s wrong?”
You are shaking. It takes some minutes before your blue eyes reach out for his. So much like Anakin, even though there’s something about Padmé in you too.
“I had a nightmare.” You sob. As you hug him tight, Anakin soon is told what’s it about. “Please papa don’t go to the dark side. Don’t let the bad man torture you.”
He furrows his eyebrows. The Emperor somehow’s still there and he hopes Palpatine isn’t using you to reach for him. The mere idea makes Anakin angry, and you sense the disturbance in the Force. But you are too young to comprehend his deadly silent.
“Daddy?”
It’s when he softens when looking at you. He presses a kiss on top of your head.
“I promise I’m staying with you, Y/N. Daddy will never leave you, all right?” He gives you plenty of kisses over your face which makes you giggle softly, a sound ever so endearing to him. “Do you want Daddy to sleep by your side tonight?”
“Yes!” You brighten at the possibility. He’d often encourage you to sleep by yourself because you have to be brave, even though he never really leaves you. “Thank you, Papa! Tell me that story again!”
Anakin sighs as he lies down next to you, taking your little, chubby hand into his. He can feel the Force flow in you, but your innocence and purity make him forget about it. He looks down at you, and when your eyes meet, you notice his left eye is yellow all the while his right one is blue like yours.
“The story about the Knight and his Princess?” Anakin smiles a little, aware that you are always intrigued by the different colors of his eyes. It’s almost as if you know the answer for the never spoken question. “Aren’t you tired of this, my darling? Why not the race of the ETs?”
You giggle, holding your father’s hand.
“I like that story better. Makes me think about mommy.”
Anakin sighs again. Could he blame you? That is the closest memory you might have of her, his beloved wife…who sacrificed for the both of you to live. Though the truth is harder than this, caught up on Anakin’s conflict, it’s what you’ll always know.
And so he gives in to your pledges. As he tells the story, your eyes stare dreamily at the ceiling of the small bedroom of an abandoned, semi destroyed house that has been your home with dad for the last three, maybe four years. It’s all you could remember.
Little by little, your eyelashes blink a few times before you end up snoring lightly. Anakin, as promised, does not let go of you. He presses a few kisses on your forehead, his eyes a little teary.
“I love you, my princess. Daddy will never let anything bad happen to you, I swear.”
He watches you sleep with devotion. Anakin’s good side prevails every time he’s with you. And you feel it, so you sleep a lot better from that night on.
***
Age 8.
Anakin watches as you decide to climb the tree. After years of practice, he thinks he’s got a lot better in braiding your hair. It’s far from the complex styles of Padmé, but he thinks that she’d be proud of his progress.
Unaware of his thoughts, you are too busy trying not to fall. You are discovering your freedom, if yet you could call that, and begin to feel bold the higher you climb.
But is your dad watching? You want him to know how you could do that with not much of a trouble. You turn your head carefully and a smile spread over your lips when you realize he’s there still. Why’d you fear he depart? It’s something that is with you, for a strange reason.
“Daddy!” You yell at him. “Look what I can do!”
You don’t understand why every time you leave your house he hides underneath a vine long cape that keeps his identity unrecognizable. You hear him laugh at your words.
“I can see that! Please be careful, Y/N! You climbed too high!” He steps forward. You are smirking down at him. “Come, sweetheart. It’s time to come downstairs.”
“If i throw myself from here, can you catch me?” You ask him in between giggles.
Anakin doesn’t find your suggestion amusing, though.
“Where are you getting your ideas from, Y/N? I think you might be watching too much tv…”
You giggle again.
“Please, papa! You did once last week!” You remind him.
“It’s different! You actually slipped and fell, almost having me killed in the whole process.” Anakin pales just to remember how desperate he was when you slipped and fell. You’d have broken a leg had he not used the Force. Because of that, he thought wise to move to another Planet.
That was how you ended up in Taruna.
“Please, daddy! I promise I won’t slip again!” You pout.
Anakin sighs.
“I’m spoiling you too much, Y/N.” You know his impatience, but it’s true he never refuses you anything, which makes you smirk. “All right. When I say 1…2… and…3!”
You do as say and jump right into your daddy’s arms. He laughs when you do so and he spins you around. His hood eventually falls as a result.
“Daddy, why are you always wearing this hood?” You ask him after he pulls you down. Since you are not four anymore, there’s only so much a man can take. “You don’t look yourself in it.”
Anakin’s eyes linger in you. This questioning side comes from Padmé, he’s sure. But could he deny his inheritance in you? He takes you to the hills. It’s a green landscape, with few different colors to look at. The sky is orange and there are distant houses from one another that are painted grey, making difficult to discern one from the other. The river is a green-ish blue and cold, like the day he took you to splash in it because it was unbearable hot.
“It’s a complicated story. I don’t think you’d wanna know”, he tells you. “It’s not the time yet.”
You feel his trouble conscience. You don’t wanna press the matter if this means your dad would feel uncomfortable. You hug him, comprehensive. The gesture makes Anakin smile. How could he have raised the most pure thing in his world? He doesn’t think he’s worthy of your angelical love.
It’s by reading his thoughts—without knowing you are doing so—that you say:
“Daddy? I will always love you, no matter what. You’re the best dad in the world.”
Anakin cannot help but to weep silently as you embrace him. He always wanted a little princess to spoil, but the picture perfect came with Padmé. He still grieved her and the loss of your twin. Hence why he’s so overprotective to you. He’s almost convinced this could be the part of Padmé that is in you.
“And I love you, Y/nickname. You’ll always be daddy’s little girl.” He strokes your hair and after a while, he says. “Daddy just wants the best of you. I don’t know how, but you bring the best there’s in him.”
“There’s good in you, daddy. I know so without a question”, you smile at him with a spark in your eyes.
You make your father often emotional. Not only because you are a constant reminder of your mother, but your quick wit never ceases to amaze him. You also bring out the best of him even in his worst days.
There was one day you saw an Empire troop following you. He told you to run and hide but you were so worried about him. You hid behind a rock. And you watched him furiously destroy the troops.
This got you into nightmares. Anakin is worried that it is always the same thing: him surrending to the dark side only to somehow end up tortured by Sidious’s hands.
“Daddy won’t leave you.” He feels your pain, your angst, your fear. All sentiments Anakin’s been too familiar with. It’s when he realizes you have to be told about the truth of who he is, who your mother was…and how all of this impacts you.
However, all you need now is his presence and that’s what he does: he soothes your fears and presses your forehead with gentle kisses. He senses the Force in you. But because Anakin is powerful and better trained, he works to disguise your signature.
So you stay like this until both of you fall asleep.
***
Age: 12.
Your head is few inches on the floor all the while your legs are stretched against the tree. Eyes closed, you concentrate.
“This is the most atypical meditation form I’ve come across to.” Anakin laughs when he sees the unusual position you find yourself comfortable enough to mediate. You try not to give in how his laughter sounds more joyous than years before and it warms your heart.
Ever since the day you were told your father was nearly catapulted to become the major head of the Sith Lord, a decision that would have risked your mother’s life (and as result yours), you began to understand him better, to comprehend the facility with which he could flow from light to dark and vice versa.
He told him about all his life. How in the end, when he came after your mother, it was too late. She was about to die because she gave the energy left on her to save you. Obi-Wan, unfortunately, was not present—Anakin hasn’t seen him in years. All of this meant that you are special, you are his daughter and Senator Amidala’s after all. So ever since then, you asked him to train you in the arts of Jedi. Despite his fears, you successfully convinced him to.
There you are now, meditating and exercising better control of your sentiments. You are now in a green planet, a name you don’t concern yourself to know because Maker knows you are not staying there too long.
“Dad, you are making difficult when you laugh so loud”, you chuckle, opening your eyes and leaving that position so gracefully.
Anakin notes proudly how taller you have become and will grow just as tall. Your chubby face is no more and you seem to become a little more serious. Adolescents.
He does not wish to acknowledge that. It frustrates him just to consider it. But Anakin also fears that you might rebel against him eventually—he knows you wish to settle down permanently and make friends despite your good, comprehensive nature.
That day, you are wearing two buns your dad braided for you. You appreciate when he came with ideas to your hair. It’s something that always made special the bond you have with him. You are also wearing white, a funny contrast to the dark robes your father is always wearing.
“I did not know I had the power to ruin your meditation, sweetheart”, Anakin laughs quietly. Your manners remind him of Padmé. Always do. “You are doing great. Better than me at your age. My Master would say I was always giving him headache.”
It’s your turn to laugh. Your eyes, always so vivid, spark again.
“I want to hear more stories about you and your Master, dad!”
Sometimes I miss when you called me daddy. Ugh. Anakin detests how he’s so emotional and strongly attached to you. But he’s always put you as his top priority of his life. When you smile, acknowledging it, all of the darkness in him dissipates.
As the two of you begin to pace around the orange fields, Anakin tells you the days where he was seen as a reckless Jedi. The adventures, the missions…
“Once I turned the communicator off because my Master was saying “may I tell you that this wasn’t not your mission..?” And I said: “Yes” and decided I’d have none of his bullshit.” He and you share a laughter, a sound full of joy.
It feels like the world is just made for you, but peace as you know is about to change… Even Anakin is aware that the two of you could not escape the Empire’s tentacles for good.
However, to his surprise the first to find the two of you is not a Sith Lord, but rather Anakin’s own master: Obi-Wan Kenobi.
***
Age: 14.
“Y/N, you have to keep your mind in check. Pretend your father is not here. You don’t need to impress anyone”, Obi-Wan is telling you. “Breathe in… Oh! You did a fantastic job, Anakin. Y/N, you managed to levitate that heavy rock!”
You open your eyes and could not believe in what you see: a great rock that for centuries stood in the river’s path is finally set away, leaving the water flow the course without obstacles. The first thing you do is search your father’s eyes and when seeing approval in his, your blush paints your cheeks delightedly so.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, the legendary Master of Jedi, had somehow survived the Order 66. He thought he had lost Anakin for the Sith—you soon learned they fought each other—and was concerned in trying to save Padmé when he fell in a trap elaborated by the Dark Forces. Although he sensed there was a good in Anakin, and how he eventually found out that not only he survived but you as well, it took him years before he came to you two.
“My priority”, you overhear your dad say in one night when he thinks you are asleep, “is my daughter, Obi-Wan. You should know that. I do not wish to have anything to do with what remained of the Order or the Empire. I’m sick of these two, in all honesty.”
Obi-Wan sighs. He knows how Anakin is. He’s seen how attached he is to his only daughter, forming with you such a strong bond that is, in fact, admirable. But the Rebels, as ironic as that might sound, need him, the chosen one.
“I think only you can defeat Darth Sidious. You nearly did that night, when you came to your senses. That you have escaped his control is admirable and tells how much you’ve matured and how strong you’ve become, Anakin.”
“You flatter me, Ben.” Anakin sounds tired, but you detect a hint of unhappiness in his voice. “Nonetheless, I failed. I failed you, I failed her.”
Obi-Wan presses a hand over his shoulder.
“You did not. By not giving yourself to darkness you made us proud. You never failed neither of us.” He then adds. “Your daughter is blindly devoted to you. That tells me what a great character you are.”
Anakin sniffs a little.
“All I want her is to be happy. And live in a better world where she can be free to be whoever she wants to be.”
“You can provide her that… you know how.”
But you want to protest. You want to tell Obi-Wan that you don’t want your dad exposed to danger. It reminds you of the nightmares you had every now and then as a child…as well as in the beginning of your adolescence. However you end up sleeping before you know it.
*
The next day you are awake by your father with urgency.
“Y/N, Y/N! You have to be up! Go with Obi-Wan, he’s taking you to a better place.”
“What’s going on?” You ask him, confuse.
Anakin hesitates. But when looking at your deep blue eyes and noticing how your cheeks, lips and forehead are every bit your mother’s as well your tendency to always opt for diplomacy, he cannot look away the fact you are becoming a woman as much as this pains him.
“Count Dooku’s army has landed. He’s your father’s old enemy. I need to fight him.”
“Let me help you”, you say it anxiously. “Dad, what if he takes you to the old bad man?”
Anakin understands your fears more than you’d say. In fact, although there are a lot more words you’d like to express—but as an adolescent, you struggle with ability to verbalize what’s in your heart; it used to be so easy as a kid to do so but now…—but your dad knows all that remains unspoken.
He strokes your cheek. There’s so much love in his eyes that you begin to cry.
“I have all figured it out. Obi-Wan is going to look after you. Hey, hey. Don’t cry.” He lifts your chin so you look into his eyes. “I’ve done all that is in my power to protect you. We will meet again, my daughter. You’re not going to lose me. I swear.”
“I love you”, it comes out as a sob. You should be better composed, but care little to that now. “Never forget that. I love you, daddy.”
Anakin blinks away his tears.
“I love you too, Y/nickname.”
Obi-Wan, as emotional as he is, knows it’s time. Carefully, the three of you part. Anakin, to become Lord Vader; Kenobi, to become a fugitive and you, the leader of the rebels.
So you flee.
***
Age 17.
You finally reach Dagobah with Obi-Wan by your side. The now grey haired older man has been your master in these last years, always reinforcing your training for a future that’s still developing ahead of the two of you. He looks tired, much to your dismay. Hence why you decide to pilot the ship there.
Was there really another choice?
“What do you think you are doing, Y/N?” Obi-Wan asks you the moment you land in what he judged as a very weird planet to land on. “We have few informations regarding this region. We barely know if it’s a rebel basis. You are risking our lives.”
“I know I might incur in making a severe mistake”, you tell him. “But I have a good feeling about this.”
“You Skywalkers are always giving me headaches”, he muttered.
“Don’t be so cranky, old Kenobi”, you tell him in a strange good mood. “Come now.”
In these past three years, not only you got yourself stronger, but the prosecution you were under the Empire also worsened. And the news about your father disappointed you. He was not meant to join Palpatine, but rather destroy him! Yet, deep down you know that he’s doing so by protecting you. All the while this saddens you, it also fuels your urge to destroy the Emperor.
Whatever it takes.
“We need some rest.” You tell Obi-Wan, but you are reckless. “Stay here whilst I’ll check the surroundings.”
“Please be careful, Y/N. Recklessness is only a way to find us trouble when we don’t need one”, he tells you.
Though worried you are about his exhaustion, you do need to stretch your legs and ensure there’s other supplies for you both.
“I promise I’ll be prudent”, you assure him.
Where is this good energy coming from? You don’t know. But it somewhat leads you deep into the woods and it feels as if the mist protects you. It’s when out of sudden you bump into someone and you feel alarmed right away. You pull your green saber and prepare for a battle.
But the one you bump into is someone who inspires you a familiar energy even though you have no idea who this is.
“Peace, Padawan. I come in peace”, the female says. “Is Obi-Wan Kenobi with you?”
“Who are you?” You are slightly nervous about this encounter. Though you came across some rebels and soldiers of the empire in the last years, you don’t feel a hundred percent secure about your powers.
The mist disappears and you see this lady with friendly eyes and tentacles in her head. She smiles at you because she knows who you are. She feels it.
“I’m Ahsoka Tano. Obi-Wan knows me. Would you take me to him if you may?”
“Of course.” You say it before you think. She inspires you sympathy. “Ahsoka, I think the Force brought me to you. Are you a Jedi?”
She’s analyzing you. As you speak, she does not take long before knowing who you are, who your parents…were.
“I was a Jedi a long time ago”, the older woman says. “But I don’t belong to this world anymore.”
As you ponder her words, you say nothing. She senses suspicious in you, so as you walk back to the cave, it takes a while to get to know you better.
“Who’s been training you? And by what purpose?”
“Obi-Wan”, you tell her. “I am convinced I am defeating the Emperor. It’s my mission.”
She furrows her eyebrows.
“Such a hard task for someone so young. Is it what you want, Y/N?”
“Yes. I…” You hesitate. She knows what’s to be said before words leave your brain to reach your tongue. “I want to bring my dad back. I know there’s good in him.”
Ahsoka does not say nothing, plunged by sadness. When detecting on her, you come to realize one thing.
“You know my father, don’t you? Now I remember he once told me about you. Ahsoka Tano, his Padawan.”
She’s surprised by this. News that she’s not expecting to hear. It’s when you tell her about everything that happened the day Anakin confronted Sidious and came for you.
By the time you reach Obi-Wan, he looks far more exhausted than you had left him. Ahsoka comprehends why she’s brought to you. But even she hesitates.
“Master Kenobi, I wasn’t expecting this encounter would be this last.”
You are too baffled to say anything. Obi-Wan looks at you kindly.
“Your training is to end soon, Y/N. I will never leave you. Remember, good always prevail over the bad if you remember to turn the light on amidst darkness.”
An advice that you’d never forget. It’s when he disappears right before your eyes. You barely have time to say something!
“I know you are overwhelmed, Y/N. But I promise you, this will pass. It always does.”
Does it? You never feel so alone as you are now. What if you are unable to save your father? What then?
***
Age 18.
“The time has come.” You land in the Death Star. You have been leading a good range of men, fighting the pilots who served the Emperor and destroying them all.
It’s funny how you surprise your fellow rebels—because that’s who you are now—by proving a great pilot. A true Skywalker is what you are. In the business that led you to present events, you ended up crossing the path of this rogue man named Han Solo.
“You think you are taking my ship, aren’t you? I saw how you bet yesterday”, you told him bluntly so. “Don’t underestimate me, young lad.”
It started as rivals until your new Master Ahsoka said:
“He actually finds you cute.”
You scoffed at it.
“He’s an idiot.”
“You have your father’s temper”, she laughed at it. “Is Solo that bad, uh?”
“I thought Jedis could not form attachments”, you reminded her.
“We are not exactly Jedis, my dear. The Order as we know has ceased to exist long time ago.”
Your silence was the response that brought Ahsoka’s an amusing grin.
But even so, forced by circumstances as you were to join forces with Solo, there was little time to think about harboring romantic sentiments for a boy like him. Often used to loneliness, you wouldn’t know how to deal with that.
“Sometimes the best defense is the attack”, Ahsoka told you when sensing your conflicts. “Don’t run from your sentiments, Y/N. They are what they make you.”
Yet, even so battles came and you and Solo followed different paths. Until, before you met your father, he came after you.
“Uh, Skywalker… I wanted to congratulate you for your success in battles.” He hesitated. You know there is more, so you wait. When seeing a smile encouraging him to speak, Solo smiled. “Be careful when facing the Sith tomorrow. I wish I was there with you, though.”
“I appreciate it, Han. More than I can speak. I…” When did you stop being good with words? But somehow Han understood you. As he often did.
“I know.”
You both smiled. It was when he came and kissed you for the very first time.
*
So there you are now. Entering the Death Star, you fight away some clone troops. There’s little difficulty when crossing their path because you are more powerful now.
A laughter than echoes in this strange corridor you find yourself in. A mechanical breath is heard. Your heart beats louder. You are reminded of your nightmares.
“Daddy is here. He’s not going to leave you anywhere.”
But he did, didn’t he? No. You sweep away this thought out of your mind. You remember Ahsoka’s training to deal with dark side and this helps to shield your mind.
However, you are put to task when your father shows before you not as Anakin Skywalker, but something different.
“Who are you? What have you become, dad?” The words come out as a choked shock.
“My daughter. The Emperor welcomes you”, his voice is devoid of emotion. You thought he was there to stop the Emperor not to join him. “Let the dark come out. It’s calling you.”
His words have the opposite effect, though.
“No. Daddy, this is not what you’ve taught me. We all have the good and the bad sides inside us. It’s the balance that matters.” You move to where he is, emboldened by the Force. “This is not the man my mother would’ve seen. This is not the father I once knew.”
It’s enough to seed the doubt in him.
“Come dad.” You move forward and remove his mask. “Remember. I love you and I always will.”
*
The battle happens. The nightmares that plagued your infancy become real, with one difference. You are the one tortured by Sidious, not your father.
Though you prove to be a strong opponent to Sidious, as he electrifies you after removing your left arm, you are put to a rough test. It’s seeing you so close to death that Anakin overpowers Vader and by doing thus he ends the battle by finishing with Palpatine’s life for good.
“Y/N! Y/N!” He goes on his knee as you lie unconsciously. “Please come to me, my child! Please!”
It takes a few minutes before you open your eyes. The balance at Force is restaured. You are embraced by your dad. You both are finally in peace.
“I love you, daddy.”
“And I love you, kiddo.”
***
Epilogue.
You become Mrs Solo in the very same spot where your father espoused Padmé Amidala. You sense her spirit by your side when her tiara is placed over your head and you slip in the white, classic gown that was once used by her.
Anakin weeps at your sight when he’s about to lead you to the altar.
“You look so much like your mother. So beautiful. A princess yourself.”
You kiss his cheek.
“I love you, daddy. Thank you for being a part of this day”. To remember the resistance he put in your relationship with Han looks funny now.
It’s something he thinks so when watching you.
“I feared this day would come. But it does little go to keep our little doves in the nest. To fly one must, I see that now.”
You cannot help yourself but weep too. You cling onto him. Always attached to your dad. Always the devoted daughter.
And because you sense your mother is calling him. She’s waiting for him.
“I love you, daddy. So damn much.”
“I love you, Y/Nickname.” He presses a kiss over your forehead. “Now we shall not let Han waiting, even though he deserves it.”
You two share a mischievous smirk that turns to joyous laughters. Eventually though he leads you to the altar and gives you to Han, blessing thus the union.
But before you end the vows, he disappears. Ahsoka, who’d said goodbye for you, is weeping silently. You feel it too.
But when you turn your head after the priest recognizes you as Mrs Solo, you weep overjoyed when seeing your Skywalker family present and reunited in Force Spirit next to Obi-Wan Kenobi and other Masters.
Han sees it too and engulfs you in his arms before saying:
“What a powerful union ours come to be.”
And this statement does ring a truth that years later will reveal itself…

Wip Wednesday
I can't believe I'm actually about to finish a multichaptered fic for the first time in my life (it's only 4 chapters though, ops), so here is a little sneak peak from the next (and last) chapter of my post-rots, Anakin didn't turn to the dark side AU. Link here.
'Til the end then hell and back Chapter IV
Obi-Wan listened with a growingly appalled expression as Anakin quickly summarized the events of those last, horrible days of the war — the shock of Padmé’s pregnancy, his nightmares, the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise, his discovery of Palpatine’s true allegiance, Mace’s orders to stay behind.
“I was so lost,” Anakin said in a whisper. “I am not trying to find excuses, just stating the truth. I was out of my mind with fear, and Palpatine knew it, and he spun the truth so that in my madness all of his lies made sense.”
“Why didn’t you tell me any of this?”
Anakin let out a brittle laugh. “Because I didn’t trust you. Palpatine had been spewing poison against you for years; small things at first, little jabs, but towards the end he had gone completely off the rails. He went as far as to suggest that you and Padmé were having an affair behind my back — I suppose he was trying to make me believe it was you who had gotten her pregnant. I wasn’t stupid enough to believe that,” he said at Obi-Wan’s affronted expression, “but I believed the rest. That you were jealous, that you were holding me back, all that bantha shit.”
“Anakin, I have never—”
Anakin raised one hand to interrupt him. He wasn’t going to let Obi-Wan take the blame for Palpatine’s lies. “I know. I only believed him because I was an arrogant brat who couldn’t tell hybris from greatness, and Palpatine fed right into that.” He leaned back against the wall, sighing. “I was eager for your praise, Master, but you were trying to teach me humility — you were right, by the way, I’m not blaming you — but I chose to go to Palpatine and listen to him say how great I was rather than put in the effort and actually earn your praise.”
“Don’t be so hard on yourself,” Obi-Wan said, leaning one hand on his shoulder. The contact of his calloused fingers on bare skin made Anakin shiver in the summer night warmth. “You should have known better, yes, but you were young, and I was exceedingly demanding at times. At twenty you’re still entitled to being an arrogant brat. The Force knows I was,” he added with a little smile.
“Yeah, maybe, but I don’t think you demanded to be made a Master,” Anakin said bitterly. He let his head thud back. “Stars, Obi-Wan, what’s wrong with you? I am telling you that my arrogance blinded me to the point where I actually believed turning to the dark side would save Padmé from dying in childbirth, and you are telling me not to be hard on myself? Why aren’t you angry?”
Obi-Wan seemed to ponder the question.
“Leaving aside the fact that I’m too happy to know you’re alive to actually feel anything but relief at the moment," he said eventually, "anger isn’t a productive emotion. Unless you are a Sith, I suppose,” he added with a little smirk. “Besides, it’s been ten years. What good would my anger do? When I got angry with you it was out of frustration because you refused to learn, and that is not the case now. I am only saddened that you had to bear this burden of guilt for so long. It is time to let go, Anakin.”

“So, you have finally accepted the truth,” Vader gloated.
“T have accepted the truth that you were once Anakin Skywalker, my father.”
“That name no longer has meaning for me.” It was a name from long ago. A different life, a different universe. Could he truly once have been that man?
“Tt is the name of your true self,” Luke’s gaze bore steadily down on the cloaked figure. “You have only forgotten. I know there is good in you. The Emperor hasn’t driven it fully away.” He molded with his voice, tried to form the potential reality with the strength of his belief.
“That’s why you could not destroy me. That’s why youwon’t take me to your Emperor now.”
Vader seemed almost to smile through his mask at his son’s use of Jedi voice-manipulation. He looked down at the lightsaber the captain had given him—Luke’s lightsaber. So the boy was truly a Jedi now. A man grown. He held the lightsaber up. “You have constructed another.”
“This one is mine,” Luke said quietly. “I no longer use yours.”
Vader ignited the blade, examined its humming, brilliant light, like an admiring craftsman. “Your skills are complete. Indeed, you are as powerful as the Emperor has foreseen.”
--------
“Come with me, Father.”
Vader shook his head. “Ben once thought as you do—’
“Don’t blame Ben for your fall—” Luke took a step closer, then stopped.
Vader did not move. “You don’t know the power of the dark side. I must obey my master.”
“T will not turn—you will be forced to destroy me.”
“If that is your destiny.” This was not his wish, but the boy was strong—if it came, at last, to blows, yes, he would destroy Luke. He could no longer afford to hold back, as he once had
“Search your feelings, Father. You can’t do this. I feel the conflict within you. Let go of your hate.”
But Vader hated no one; he only lusted too blindly. “Someone has filled your mind with foolish ideas, young one. The Emperor will show you the true nature of the Force. He is your master, now.”
Vader spoke just before the guards arrived.
“Tt is too late for me, Son.”
“Then my father is truly dead,” answered Luke. So what was to stop him from killing the Evil One who stood before him now? he wondered.
Nothing, perhaps.
Star Wars - Return Of The Jedi by James khan
So I have seen this movie many times but I forgot Luke tried to mind trick Vader into coming with him away from the Death Star and turn agaisnt the Empire in the novel while Vader just smiled about him doing that. (Head canon that Vader sees Luke as his little Kryat Dragon, who can do no wrong accepted)
I also love the little clues about Anakin/Vader inner conflict here:
He doesn´t want to kill his Son but has hold back many times in the past
He says he doesn´t hate anyone, he only lusts for power but also tells his Son that it´s too late for him as if telling him no to worry about him becase he is not worth it.
Little clues that later led to the climax in the story.

Let’s walk in a slightly different universe. It starts with such a small difference really.  Obi Wan, hollowed out by the death of the Jedi, the perceived betrayal of the clones, the death of the Younglings, Anakin’s fall that he had been willing to force himself to confront his former apprentice. Then he sees that Padme is about ready to go into labor, that his brother/son’s children were about to be born.  He manages to convince Padme that confronting Anakin can wait, that if there is anything left of the man that they love, he would want her and the children safe most of all.
Padme still dies in childbirth, Sidious was always going to make sure she died in childbirth. Darth Sidous convinced Anakin that Obi Wan had killed her and their child.  Yoda and Obi Wan still decide to separate the twins, Obi Wan still ends up in a cave on Tatooine bleeding down to the soul and trying to keep Luke and Leia safe from the Emperor (and Anakin).
A year in,  Anakin receives a vision from the Force that shows him the truth.  Shows him how it was Sidious that killed his wife, and Obi Wan who is protecting his children. Who tried to protect his wife. And the vision hints that his happy ending may not be beyond him, if he can find the right path. And Anakin may be impulsive, may be filled with rage, but all he wants is his happy ending.  For this he can turn all of his strategic planning, every inch of his mind and focus, every ounce of cunning.
Four years later Vader meets with Bail Organa. With a scrambler running he says that he has an offer for Organa and Kenobi, but wants to meet in person with both of them. A very nervous Bail tries to say he doesn’t know where the Jedi is. Vader scoffs, he already knows that Kenobi is on Tatooine, he knows about Luke and Leia and who they are to him. He knows about the Rebellion Organa is growing.  The three of them would meet in person and discuss Vader’s offer. Vader even tells Bail to warn Kenobi that if Vader had to actually go to Tatooine, he was going to take his son back and kill everyone else.
Needless to say they met in person, on Alderaan, four weeks later. Obi Wan tries to apologize, for what it’s kind of hard to tell (He is still very much a mess and is blaming himself for everything). Anakin stops him, tells him he’s not exactly happy that Obi Wan had kept Anakin’s children from him, but that he also agrees that the Emperor should not know about them.  He also emphasizes that he (Anakin) is still fallen, has still done horrific things, and really doesn’t feel nearly as much guilt as he should for any of it (Yes, even slaughtering the Younglings).  This deal is for his own selfish reasons.
Vader had found a temple on an uninhabited planet that was meant to be a trap, but was far too strong. It was meant to trap the activators in an inescapable vision, whatever would make them truly happy, while the temple drained their lifeforce and killed them. The trap, when activated, would be so powerful that anyone still on the surface would be caught. It required a Jedi and a Sith to Activate it. Vader wanted Kenobi to be the Jedi.
Knowing that Kenobi was too stupidly noble to simply run with that offer, and a little for the safety of his children, Vader was offering to kill Sidious and turn the entire Empire over to Organa to turn back into a Republic (Vade: “Everyone in this room knows that I have no interest in an empire”). Vader would also bring the remaining clones to the planet and free them, before giving them the option to join them in the vision or leaving the planet as free men.  With prodding he was even willing to extend the offer to any freed Clones, Surviving Jedi, or members of the Rebellion (Since he could concede that all those people also deserved a Happy Ending, plus the more people that were caught the longer ther vision would last). He is not willing to extend that offer to the galaxy at large.
Kenobi agrees. The trio return to Coruscant and Vader does in fact kill the Emperor with a droid that Vader built just after his Vision (whose entire purpose was to shoot Palpatine in the face). He turns the entire mess over to Organa. It takes another few weeks for the logistics of moving that amount of people to this little planet and passing along the offer. They bring the chipped clones down first and deactivate the chips, Vader (and shortly after Kenobi) explain about the Vision (It will kill you but you but you will be perfectly happy, time has no meaning within the vision so you might have decades in it no matter how long it takes to kill) and the fact that there were ships that would take them to the transport in orbit in one rotation. Anyone on the planet, it would be assumed that they wanted to enter the Vision.  The rebellion, the already free clones, and the surviving Jedi that crept out of the woodwork then also descend on the planet. Some were coming to join in the Vision, some were coming to find out if their loved ones had survived, some were coming to say goodbye.
Cody was one of the newly freed troopers, so he and Obi Wan reunited (I, personally, am a rabid CodyWan fan). Cody quickly decides that he will follow his general. Ahsoka and Rex reunite with Vader (He still reminds everyone that he is still fallen, this is for selfish reasons, and no he does not regret). Ahsoka and Rex are not going to stay, they have decided that they will be there to guide new force users and so are there to say a final goodbye (Also to tell Vader that he is getting off really lightly, but the fact that he was being stopped would have to be good enough). Vader asks that they keep an eye out for the twins (The Lars’ had been convinced to move to Alderaan so that Luke could grow up with his sister. They all visited Shimi’s grave once a year). A handful of clones decide to leave as well (Grey, when he found out that Caleb survived, decided that his penance would be to protect Depa’s former padawan) but most Clones decided that it was time to rest. A handful of  surviving Jedi (Including Vos and Yoda) also decide that they will enter the Vision, though none were below a knight level at the time of Order 66.  Even a few Rebellion members, who had lost everything to the Empire, were joining them.
After the ones that were leaving were gone, Vader told them that he had no idea if they would know this was a vision or not, if they would remember what had happened out in the real world, or if they would ever interact with each other within the vision. Then he and Kenobi activate the temple.
Bonus:
Anakin Skywalker shoots up in bed after a horrible nightmare. He had fallen. Padme had died. The empire had risen. He lay back down slowly, into the warmth of Padme’s arms and her half asleep murmur. The details were already drifting away.
++++++++
Professor Obi Wan Kenobi blinked at the vision of a man in front of him. He was just a bit shorter than him, with a dark complexion that only served to make the scar curling around his eye that much more compelling. What was even more compelling was the way the stranger’s jaw had dropped slightly and his eyes had widened at the sight of Obi Wan.
“Hello There”  The beautiful stranger purred, catching one hand to kiss it.
For an instant he felt like he knew this man, but in armor instead of cloth. Then it was gone in a rush of giddiness. This beautiful man had swept past everyone else in the bar, staring right at Obi Wan. He could have had anyone, but he chose Obi Wan.

Boil was leaning against the wall of the Creche, just watching. Waxer was buried under small, giggling bodies. He would forever be grateful to General Kenobi, he had worked hard to help the two of them to get this posting after the war. Just seeing Waxer and how ecstatic he was to be working with younglings, knowing that they had both survived, that was everything to Boil. They could be soft now. Waxer stood from his pile of younglings and for a moment, the paint that had been spilled earlier seemed to shift, almost looking like Waxer had been shot in the chest. The moment passed with a glance at the wide smile that crossed Waxer’s face.

The war has ended and Obi-Wan decides to leave The Order to be with Satine? Thank you 😊
- The Paths we Follow -
It had been almost half a year since the war ended.
So many things were different now. They had lost so many people, so many parts of themselves in the wake of it all. It was only days after the pandemonium of the chancellors arrest faded that Obi-Wan looked in the mirror and realized he didn’t recognize the person he had become. He was once part of something that meant to he was to be a defender of peace in the galaxy. Now? Now he was a general in a war filled with death and destruction.
How far they had strayed from what they once were.
Anakin, the one who was supposed to bring balance, had walked away from it all when the war was over. He had considered Palpatine a friend and mentor, only to discover the horrific truth. Obi-Wan couldn’t blame him. So much had stopped making sense in their lives, and so much had been put on his padawan from the moment they found him.
The force, Anakin had said, guided him somewhere other than the Order. To Padme, to a life helping those where he could outside of the restrictions of the Jedi. To something more than what he was told he was to be.
And Obi-Wan would be lying if he said the force wasn’t hinting at a different path for him now that the war ended.
That’s how he found himself staring at the outer walls of Sundari Palace. Around him the city was as alive as ever, almost prospering more so now that peace was declared throughout the entirety of the galaxy. How elated she must be to look amongst her home and see it all.
He hadn’t told her he was coming, but her palace guards recognized him immediately. There had been more than one visit to Mandalore on behalf of the order throughout the years. He and Anakin - not to mention Ahsoka and her friendship with Korkie Kryze - were somewhat familiar faces now.
“The Duchess is in session with her council,” One of her handmaidens informs her, “Though I imagine she’ll be finishing anytime now. Can I get you anything while you wait, Master Kenobi?”
He smiles politely at the girl. There was something about her brown eyes and sharp features that reminded him of a younger Padme.
“Thank you, but I’m alright for now.” He pauses, “I believe I’ll be fine to wait for the Duchess from here. I tend to know my way around the palace after so many visits.”
The girl smiles and bows before scurrying out of the room.
There were certain lines that neither of them ever dared to cross whenever he found himself on Mandalore. He could navigate the hallways of the palace and find himself at her personal quarters with ease, but he never went as far as to follow her inside with any salacious intentions in mind. He knew as well as she did that their duties lie elsewhere than one another.
They were friends, if nothing else. Trusted confidants. Of course, they were also so much more, but that was a secret shared between the two of them they didn’t dare to discuss. He couldn’t give her the life she deserved, nor could he have her in the way he wanted. It made him love her all the more because she understood it as much as he did.
And that was the crux of it all, wasn’t it? He was irrevocably in love with her, and he feels deep in his soul she feels the same. But they had made their choices, and had done everything they could to stick to them despite how downright unbearable it can be at times to do so.
But there were times that the lines fizzled out completely. It was his fault. Always, always his fault. She never asked, never pushed him to break the vows he made to the code. It was always him who crossed the line and kissed her, or told her perhaps a bit too much of his true feelings.
Still, he never entered her private chambers with the intentions to do so. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Because aside his feelings for her, he values her and the entirety of her being. Her leadership, her dedication to pacifism and her people, her strong will. In the end, he had just always wanted her to be okay, and to know she had a friend in him if nothing else.
“Hello, Master Obi-Wan.”
If she’s surprised to see him she doesn’t let on. Instead her expression is neutral; an even smile and calm eyes.
“Duchess.” He bows slightly, “I hadn’t expected you to finish session with your council so soon. Apologies for intruding in your personal wing.”
The formalities were a bit tiring at times but a necessity when her guards were in earshot.
“Nonsense,” She says, “You are my most trusted friend, after all. You’re certainly welcome any time.”
He smiles at her, though doesn’t make a move to approach her. This was her home, her territory, and he would be hard pressed to do or say anything in the presence of others without her explicit permission.
“Your visit comes as a surprise,” She says lightly, taking a few measures steps in his direction, “Not that it isn’t good to see you. Perhaps you could join me for a walk and explain your sudden arrival? I’m sure a Jedi Master such as yourself came with an explicit purpose.”
“Of course, Duchess.”
He wonders what her assumption is. To discuss the end of the war, perhaps? Where the Jedi and Coruscant stand with Mandalore? It would haven’t been a far fetched concept for them to have sent him, given his somewhat known friendship with the Duchess. Coming to her rescue during Mauls attempted siege was more than enough for the council to recognize she was of some importance to him. He had just been lucky that the war had been distracting enough that they hadn’t questioned him too deeply.
She waves her hand dismissively at her guards, who wordlessly make their way to the outer corridor of her personal wing. While they would guard the perimeter of her location, he knew that her personal quarters were strictly off limits to anyone except her and her guests.
“So much has changed since you last visited.” Satine notes as they head down the hallway, “A galaxy at peace.”
“At long last,” He says genuinely, “I had hoped to speak with you sooner, if only to congratulate you and your steadfast determination to stay out of the war. Your peaceful ways will only continue to flourish from here.”
The smile she wore was perhaps one of the most genuine he had seen in a long time.
“I certainly hope so.”
He knew there was much more to it than that, but he also understood that words may not be able to capture just how elated she was at the prospect of peace throughout the galaxy. She had seen so much bloodshed during the civil war of her people, and he knows it’s a weight she’s always carried.
When they reach her chambers he watches as she types in the code to unlock her door. He knows the number by heart now. Of course he does; he’s seen her type of in enough. Not that he would ever dare cross that boundary and do it himself. No, he respects her and her space too much.
He follows her in wordlessly, watching intently as she types in another set of numbers to lock the door behind him. Again, a set of digits he knows by heart.
“Not that I am not elated to see you Obi-Wan,” she says, turning to face him, “But I will say it’s rather-“
He doesn’t give her a chance to finish. Not this time. Instead he’s on her quicker than either of them really could comprehend. Lips harshly pressed against hers, one hand pawing at her waist, the other knitting themselves in her hair. He had her pinned between the door and himself and he knew no matter how close he may be to her it would never truly be enough.
She’s trembling a bit, he realizes, but is making no move to push him away. Maybe the end of the war was her breaking point too. It had been so long since they’ve seen each other and even longer since he’s touched her.
“Obi-Wan.” She sighs almost dreamily so against his cheek.
He smiles and kisses the corner of her mouth, “My love.”
When he gathers her in his arms she makes no attempt to stop him and instead coils her limbs around him, a smile ever present on her lips as he guides them through her chambers.
She whispers her love for him in his ear, and it becomes his undoing.
—————
Hours later they lay tangled beneath the covers of her bed, one of his hands clutching onto hers lightly. They were facing one another, and while her eyes had fluttered closed minutes earlier he knows she’s still awake.
Carefully, he bumps the tip of her nose with his own, coaxing her to look at him.
“Hello.” He whispers, grinning at her.
Satine makes no move to put any space between them, and instead tilts her head forward so her forehead touches his.
“Hello, love.”
He kisses her sweetly; a far more innocent peck on her lips than the ones that proceeded it.
They remain like that for a moment, basking in the silence of the moment. It had been too long since he was able to stop and breathe and simply appreciate something for what it was. The war had been raging around him for so long that he seldom allowed himself the luxury of momentary peace.
Now that the war is over, perhaps he’ll get to experience that indefinitely.
“Darling,” Satine retracts from him, just enough so she can look at him properly, “As much as I don’t want to question your impromptu visit, I have to know what spurred this.”
He gazes at her for a bit longer than necessary, taking in how her blonde hair is tucked over one shoulder as she balances leisurely on her elbow.
“Can’t I just visit an old friend?” He answers cheekily.
She chuckles lightly, “I suppose, though none of your previous visits have been so…salacious, if you will.”
He sits up slightly, just enough that they’re both at the same eye level.
“Anakin has left the Order, Satine.” His tone is a bit more serious than he would have liked but then, it’s a beyond serious matter.
“Oh,” She breathes out, “That certainly is startling news, given the end of the war on top of that. Are you okay? I know you cared very deeply for him.”
“I did. And still do. His decision came because of the end of the war. But more so than that, he expressed that it was the force itself guiding him away from the Jedi and the Order. He found his path being led down a life shared with Padme.”
If Satine is surprised at the mention of Naboo senator and his student being together she doesn’t let on. Perhaps it wasn’t much of a secret at all. Padme and her were friends, and while the former queen was much better at discretion than Anakin, he wouldn’t have been surprised if she had confided in Satine the exact nature of their relationship.
“That is certainly a monumental decision to have made,” She says, “Of course I cannot fault him in the slightest for following what he believes is his best path. But that did not answer my question. Are you okay with his decision?”
The corner of his mouth twitches up into an amused smile. Satine would never let a question go until she received an answer.
“I struggled with it, in the beginning that is.” He confesses, “But I would be lying if I said I hadn’t been questioning the Jedi and our place in the Galaxy during the tail end of the war.”
This time she does look a bit surprised, “Oh?”
He nods, “We were — are — to be peacekeepers of the galaxy. And yet we found ourselves not trying to prevent or dismantle the war, but fighting in it. Even though the intentions behind it all were noble; fighting to protect peace, I found we strayed from what the Order should be as a result. I had found myself questioning so much of who we were and who I had become that, despite my initial sadness, I cannot fault or blame Anakin in the slightest for the choice he made.”
A hand comes up and lightly cups his jaw, her thumb brushing lazily along the stubble of his beard.
“You are a good man, Obi-Wan. The best I have ever known.”
“I’m certainly glad you think so,” He pauses, “I didn’t come here however to recount my woes to you in bed, nor was I just paying a friendly visit.”
She eyes him carefully, he hand slipping from his face and settling on the bed between the two of them. Her expression was neutral, if not a bit curious, and he wonders what scenarios are running through her head.
“Satine,” He grabs the hand between them, “I too have found the force guiding my path away from the Order. Now that the war is over I believe my time with the Jedi is too.”
Her bottom lip wobbles ever so slightly and he can see the vaguest bit of hope in her eyes. She would never voice it aloud, but he knows what she is thinking.
“What are you saying, Obi-Wan?” She whispers.
The only thing he can think to do is smile brightly before kissing her, hoping with all he has that she understands.
If the smile against his lips is any indication, then she does.

title: daybreak relationship: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker | Darth Vader rating: T words: 2004 tags: Kenobi finale spoilers, Canon Divergence, Fix-It of Sorts, Ambiguous/Open Ending, Introspection summary: Instead of clinging to his anger, Anakin chooses the Light. Instead of walking away, Obi-Wan chooses to stay. You can read it here or on AO3.
“I’m sorry.” The words tumbled forth from Obi-Wan’s mouth—he had no control over them, not when it felt as though his heart had been wrenched from his chest. The tears he tried to blink away blurred his vision, but there was no hiding what Anakin had become, the agony he was in and the suffering he endured. “I’m sorry, Anakin. For all of it.”
“I am not your failure, Obi-Wan,” Anakin’s true voice mingled with the modulator as he struggled to speak, each word seeming to take a monumental amount of effort. “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker—”
That effort appeared to become too great for him, and whatever words were to come next were overtaken by a weak, wheezing cough as Anakin struggled to drag air into his lungs. The ache beneath Obi-Wan’s ribs was almost unbearable, as though his own heart was breaking itself apart to join in the reality of his beloved’s existence.
For ten years, Obi-Wan had carried the weight of having ended Anakin’s life, even if he hadn’t dealt the deathstrike. After learning the truth that Anakin still lived, Obi-Wan grappled with the guilt of having caused what Anakin had become—a walking nightmare that was more machine than man. Those words, drenched in anger and blame, thrown at him like a lance on Mapuzo had lodged themselves in Obi-Wan’s mind, amplifying all of his regrets.
But here, it felt as though Anakin was trying to offer Obi-Wan absolution for what he had done. Overwhelming sorrow and regret echoed through the bond that tied them to one another, though it was not Obi-Wan’s own. The truth all along was not that Obi-Wan had somehow caused Anakin’s fall—Anakin chose this path for himself.
It was such a stark contrast to their encounter on Mapuzo. The miasma of Darkness that entrenched Anakin and permeated the Force around him had nearly been suffocating then, but now it seemed as though the clouds may be parting, abating just enough for a sliver of forgiveness to break through.
Anakin knew that Obi-Wan suffered under the burden of their past and the pain they’ve inflicted upon one another—he had twisted the knife before, to bleed more anguish into their connection to one another. Anakin’s admittance was a break in the chain of their suffering; it was the choice to release Obi-Wan of his guilt, to set him free.
That freedom lifted the pain from his shoulders, allowing hope to fill in the cracks that had been left behind by the burden. As Anakin released him from this endless cycle of misery, Obi-Wan was suddenly presented with a choice to do the same, knowing that his newfound peace was granted by his friend, still alive but trapped within the confines of his walking coffin.
It was the sign that Obi-Wan needed to know that Padmé had been right in her dying moments, her last words echoing in his memory. There was still good in him, no matter how deeply Anakin himself had buried it.
Silence had fallen between them, save for the pained whine as Anakin gasped for breath and the soft mechanical whirr as his damaged suit worked to fulfill its purpose. But it was a moment of hesitation that gave Obi-Wan all the opening he needed in order to reach out to the person he held dearest in his life, even after all this time, and after all of the pain.
All that Obi-Wan could do was to offer an outstretched hand to grasp in the darkness, to return his gift of mercy.
“Anakin, you don’t have to choose this path,” Obi-Wan pleaded, his voice sounding strangled to his own ears as though he had forgotten how to breathe while Anakin’s body fought to do so. “You can come back—you always could.”
Even though the very act of it shattered Obi-Wan’s heart even further, he poured out the remainder of his love for Anakin Skywalker into the mangled connection their lingering bond had been twisted into when Obi-Wan learned Anakin still lived.
Because that was the truth he was yet to admit.
 I loved you.
I still love you.
Obi-Wan still loved Anakin, even after what he had chosen to become and everything he had done to get there. That love was the one thing he couldn’t let go of—not for fear of letting go, but for the hope that it still gave him; that all was not lost.
Those ghastly yellow eyes that bore into Obi-Wan’s soul fell closed as Anakin took another ragged breath, but when they reopened, Obi-Wan’s heart clenched. Even in the scarce lighting of the desolate moon he had been chased to, Obi-Wan could recognize the clear blue he hadn’t seen since he had left for Utapau. They were different people then, before Anakin’s actions and the rise of the Emperor had torn their entire lives into pieces and burned them into ashes.
But they didn’t have to remain the people they were now.
Obi-Wan had considered himself dead from the moment he had turned his back upon Anakin and left his fate in the Force’s hands. He had laid Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker to rest in the sands of Anakin’s home planet, their sabers side by side as they had been in life. All that had remained of their lives was his guilt and his grief that haunted him like a shadow heavy enough to even shroud the brightness of binary stars.
It had simply taken a reminder of hope, a reminder of what had been and what could be, to break through that endless shadow.
And now Anakin was before him, broken and mangled by his own choices, by his fealty to the Dark Side, trapped within the shell of Darth Vader, but even so, a glimmer of Light remained.
Obi-Wan could feel the cracks forming—were they in him or Anakin? Did it even matter anymore? The line between them had been blurred… but it would be naive to claim it had ever been any other way. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker knew one another more intimately than lovers. Long before now their lives twined together into one being. Even in this moment after facing one another in a battle that was meant to truly end it all, they were complementary halves of a single warrior, moving in the twisted dance of their lives.
He took a step forward, flicking off his saber as he did so, extinguishing the azure light that had illuminated them. The blue clashed and mixed with the blood red glow of Anakin’s blade, much like their souls, their hearts, their lives. The irony was not lost on Obi-Wan as his own words of the past came to mind.
“Anakin, you can end this horror.”
Obi-Wan could feel the fear rolling off of Anakin in waves as he remained on his knees, the strength of it oppressive and nearly suffocating. The hand that steadied him dug into the ground, durasteel fingers burrowing into anything they could grasp for purchase as Anakin’s breathing labored. But there was something within the vortex, hidden in the eye of the storm—the remnant of Light within him. Obi-Wan reached out to cradle that flickering Light and protect it from the onslaught as tumultuous surges of Darkness threatened to smother it. He stood before Anakin, just out of reach, cautious though he dared to hope that his final plea reached through to Anakin.
His plea was answered as the sickening crimson glow of Anakin’s saber extinguished, throwing them into darkness illuminated only by the barest hint of earthlight on the barren moon, but the Light within Anakin burned brighter as it fought to cast out the Darkness within him.
Obi-Wan closed the distance between them, coming to kneel before Anakin. Immediately, Anakin latched onto him, desperation turning his grip into claws that nearly tore into Obi-Wan’s skin through his robes. Tears poured from that singular blue eye Obi-Wan could see through the cracked mask, and Anakin began shaking, his body wracked with wheezing sobs as he held onto Obi-Wan.
“Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan,” Anakin began repeating his name. The modulator had stopped working, leaving only Anakin’s broken and vulnerable voice behind. “Master—I’m so sorry.”
Obi-Wan held onto Anakin through his sobs, and regardless of how he had seemed so large as he loomed over Obi-Wan during their fight, he seemed so very small now. Despite the clawing need within his own heart, Obi-Wan was not going to cradle this man. He was not going to pull Anakin to his chest as he longed to, not in the way their bodies used to become so entangled with one another.
But he kept his hold on Anakin’s arms, feeling the cold durasteel beneath the sleeves of the suit. This was Anakin Skywalker now. He was not truly dead, merely a prisoner of his own choices. What rose from the ashes now was the good that had always remained in him, the good that had been smothered by those fears to confront a new reality, one born of his own machinations.
Gradually, the sobbing abated, subsiding into shallow, struggling, hiccuped breaths that made Anakin sound so very much younger than he was. His grip on Obi-Wan loosened before he pulled away, and Obi-Wan was almost hesitant to release his own hold on Anakin, worried that he would once again fall out of reach as he had all those years ago on Mustafar.
But once Obi-Wan saw that spark of determination shining through the fear in his eye, he let go.
Slowly, Anakin reached up, taking the top portion of his helmet into his hands. A short, soft hiss filled the air as the release mechanism was activated and he lifted it from his head. He let it clatter carelessly to the ground and began to remove the lower part of the helmet. Nothing would have been able to tear Obi-Wan’s eyes away from this moment, watching Anakin’s deliberate movements as he removed the mask of Darth Vader. Belatedly, Obi-Wan realized he was holding his own breath and shakily drew air into his lungs—at the exact same time the life support unit on Anakin’s chest breathed for him again. There was a thrum across their bond—something that reminded him of a heartbeat—and he felt the connection pull taut as he was once again in harmony with Anakin Skywalker.
Obi-Wan stared into the scarred face now revealed fully to him, not allowing an ounce of shame or guilt to color their bond. While the haunting face of Darth Vader lay abandoned in the dust of the moon, the one before him belonged to a new future. Though underneath the layers of marring, Obi-Wan could still see his Anakin. He could see it in the furrow of his brow and the set of his jaw as Anakin committed to this new and unknown path. And he could see it in his blue eyes, free of the putrid yellow that had haunted Obi-Wan’s nightmares for ten years.
Gently, Obi-Wan placed a hand on the back of Anakin’s neck, careful of how sensitive the damaged skin might have been. He drew Anakin in closer as he leaned in and rested their foreheads together. There was a beat of silence, save for the mingling of Anakin’s mechanized breaths with Obi-Wan’s own softer ones, before he felt a quiet sob shake Anakin’s body. His own eyes began to water again.
There was a tremor in Obi-Wan’s heart, an inkling of fear for what their future may hold, for what they would have to confront now that Anakin had chosen a new path. While it was too late to correct the wrongs of the past, the future did not have to continue this way. The cycle of suffering had been broken, and the Force would guide them through whatever may come. Though Obi-Wan knew not where it would lead them, where there was Kenobi, one would find Skywalker not far behind.

There were a lot of things Obi-Wan regretted, and Tatooine gave him time to reflect on them.
Anakin. His foremost regret at the moment, laying awake on a cool Tatooine night. There was so much he could have done, so much he should have done. Anakin would have made it worth putting the code aside, to see that boy smile was all he needed at times. If he had just been there for him, confronted him about Padme and the distance in his eyes, about the chancellor’s interest in him. Perhaps Anakin’s fall could have been avoided. Padme made him happy, and that was all Obi-Wan ever wanted.
Qui Gon’s death, something he would always blame himself for, though he claimed he’d let it go. You’re the closest thing I have to a father, Anakin had told him once. It was a sentiment he had once held towards his master, one he still held. If he’d just been a little faster, a little stronger, maybe he could’ve gotten to Maul first. At the very least, Qui-Gon could have lived, even if it cost him his life.
The clones. There were a lot of regrets there too. Sometimes, in his solitary, he regretted turning down so many invites to hang out. In the mess hall of the ships, at the clone bars on coruscant. At the time he’d been busy, paper work and training, it had seemed so important. Now, as the nightmares tormented him and the loneliness began to eat away at him, he craved those quiet moments of comradery.
Satine, the only person he could ever confidently say he loved (at least romantically). He still thought of her at times. Sometimes he thought of when they were on the run, and sometimes he thought of her cold body in his arms. The biggest regret he had was leaving her. He’d once said he would’ve left the council had she asked, in truth she didn’t need to ask. He just needed to follow his heart.
Giving up the twins. His most recent regret, a regret that opened every wound he’d ever tried to close. He’d given up the last piece of himself, the only family he’d ever known, the only love he had left.
There were a lot of things Obi-Wan regretted, and one of them was not saying “I love you” sooner.

i kept re-reading your two chapters of celestial serenities obi series and ahhh I can't get enough of it, the characterization is so good! im so excited for more and especially about their past and how they were when he was a padawan 🥹🤍
You're so sweet!!! I have SO MUCH of it planned and I am excited to get back into it. That'll be my focus once the semester ends. There is quite a bit I have planned for when Obi-Wan's a padawan and I hope you're ready for some heartbreak on that part. But it all works out.
Dropping some of chapter three below for you darling.
“Where’s Anakin now?”
His eyebrows furrowed. “I sent him to watch over Senator Amidala.”
“Hm.” You brought his hand into your lap, tracing over the cuts and scrapes he acquired on Geonosis. “He’s in love with her, you know.”
Obi-Wan’s familiar sigh made you smile. “I know.”
“I saw the way they were on the battlefield. He would have died for her.” Not unlike how you felt about him—how you hoped he felt about you.
“He’s too young to know what love really is.”
You snorted, eyes dragging back to him. “Look who’s talking Kenobi.”
“That was…different.” He fought against the urge to smile, his lips twitching slightly at the memories that flooded both your minds. “We were different.”
“No we weren’t Obi-Wan. You just like to pretend you were a perfect padawan. When in reality Qui-Gon sighed twice as much as you do now when talking about Anakin.”
He relented, unable to fight against the smile any longer as he pressed his lips to your temple. This. Moments like this were what you both fought for yesterday—a chance to be at ease with one another again. Just as you once did before. This wouldn’t last. He knew that as well as you, but stolen time is what you built the basis of your relationship on. It became what you both feared, what you both needed to survive. You were each standing on either side of the blade, trying to meet in the middle without injury.
Thus was the brutality of love.
“I saw him again,” you murmured. If you closed your eyes you’d be able to picture his face—a man stuck in time and yet still present.
Obi-Wan hummed in response, head leaning against yours. “Who did you see?”
“Qui-Gon.”
That was enough to render a response from him. Pulling back he regarded you with a look of incredulity—as if your words weren’t even said in the first place. You couldn’t blame him for that. If you heard someone who possessed no connection to the Force whatsoever, claim that they saw the Force ghost of a Jedi Master, you’d think they were lying. Either that or insane. But you couldn’t lie to him anymore; refused to tell him anything but the truth, because your duty to the Republic nearly cost both your lives. That was something you could not forgive nor forget.
“I know– I sound– Well I sound ridiculous.” You felt the weight of Qui-Gon’s message weigh on your shoulders—your body curing inward with it. “I swear it was him.”
“How?” And there it was. The reason why you loved him. Obi-Wan didn’t question your sanity, didn’t claim you were lying, he simply believed. He put faith in you the same way he would the Force, because if there was anyone in his life he trusted…it was you.
It would always be you.

⌨ + as long as there's light
Send me ⌨ + title to one of my fics and I’ll write a sentence for that fic!
With Luke gone it was just the two of them, and it was personal.
"Now, you will pay," Vader declared.
"For what? Luke made his own choice," Grim retorted.
"Because of your teachings."
He attacked, she blocked, and their lightsabers clashed together. Their dance began.
Vader fought, with a fire burning deep within his heart. His own son, had chosen he would rather die, than to join him in the Dark Side. To him, it was clear that Grim was to blame for this choice. She had indoctrinated him with the teachings of the Jedi.
Grim was exhausted, and was not as easily able to defend. The torture, and the additional injuries from earlier in the fight, were beginning to take their toll. She felt guilty for not telling Luke the truth about his father, but she knew he wasn't ready, she was trying to protect him.
However, she has told herself the same thing when she didn't tell Obi-Wan and Ahsoka about Anakin too.

Comfortember Day 14
Late Night Phone Calls
Spoiler: This is an excerpt from When Stars Align
It’s nighttime when Obi-Wan comms Anakin to check in on that status. All things considered, it’s going well. The Separatists know of Jedi involvement, but that was bound to happen eventually.
To tell the truth, Anakin didn’t understand what his master meant about focusing until he and Kolara were fighting together against the approaching droids that he realized. She’s a friend, and there’s a part of him that wants to count her as family, and that means he’ll protect her over… everyone else.
But that’s not what he’s supposed to do. Not as a Jedi.
And after – after Umbara, that’s what Anakin needs to do.
“Anakin, remember what I told you about staying focused?” Obi-Wan queries.
“It’s… my responsibility to put the many over the few,” Anakin repeats, “I know. It’s just…”
“If you can’t handle it and we need to recall you, I could use you on the fronts.”
“I’m fine,” Anakin argues instantly, because not being here would be so much worse., It would hurt to be far away when Kolara could die at any given moment, and Anakin would have no idea. He wouldn’t be able to help her or any of them then. “I – I can do it, master.”
Obi-Wan doesn’t look convinced. He never does. He’s always been pessimistic, and that’s not really something Anakin wants right now. He misses Rex, but he’s still where he needs to be. “If you are confident,” he concedes reluctantly, “I will trust your judgment.”
Not as though he has any other choice, so the point is moot, but still. Anakin doesn’t even know why it stings. “Thank you,” he mutters, arms crossed.
For a few minutes of awkward quiet, Obi-Wan just watches him. “What’s the outlook?” he queries finally, “Do you think it will work?”
“I’ll make sure it will,” Anakin promises – they don’t have a choice. The Republic can’t always fight battles for everyone. They don’t have the resources, or ability.
“Very well,” Obi-Wan agrees, “I believe you will.”
Anakin nods a little mindlessly, listening but not really believing. He doesn’t want to believe that. He just feels… empty somehow. He doesn’t might fighting, but Anakin still wants there to be an end to it. He wants something more than the Order, and he misses his mother.
The others are celebrating in the background over their first minor win, and Anakin just feels left out. This isn’t his fight – his is far greater, and he just…
If Obi-Wan is angry at him, he wishes he’d just say so and stop hiding it. Anakin couldn’t even blame him. He’s angry at himself, too. “If I… did something that upset you, I’m sorry.”
Obi-Wan sighs. “I’m not upset at you, Anakin. I’m merely concerned.”
Certainly didn’t sound like it. “I… I know, but you know I can do this.” Anakin doesn’t believe in himself most of the time, but that’s never been enough to stop him, because he always has to try. Maybe he’ll never succeed, but he’ll try.
Obi-Wan’s expression is tight when he looks at him, but it soothes over a little bit. “I know you are capable,” he acknowledges.
“It’s less dangerous for me here than out on the field,” Anakin points out, “But… how are things out there? How are Rex and the boys?” That, at least, is something they’ll make him feel better. He needs to know.
“We’re progressing,” Obi-Wan replies, “But it could be better.”
“Could be worse,” Anakin shrugs, “I’m sure I’ll be back before you know it.”

are there songs that remind u of ur fics? of obi wan and anakin in general? id love to know what u associate w them 👀
this is my absolute favorite topic to talk about bcos music is my number one love language so thank you for opening this floodgate omg. y e s i have plenty of songs associations with obikin and a playlist too - but we’ll save that for later.
ONE. endlessly by muse is probably my number one obikin song for many reasons. it really hits when you take kenobi as a backdrop.
“Hopelessly I'll love you endlessly / Hopelessly I'll give you everything / But I won't give you up / I won't let you down / And I won't leave you falling / But the moment never comes.”
it’s also a bonus that ewan sings the song for a cover, so i can die happily on my headcanon hill that obi-wan sings anakin to sleep.
TWO. connected by islandinside. my second biggest obikin song, i think. the lyrics are so them it genuinely aches like please look at this:
“I am the mirror / I am your satellite / I am the sign that / Stuck inside your mind” i mean, this easily reminds me of the two of them being split halves of one another, their dyad, etc. and then we have this as well, which hurts so bad and so good:
“When you′re lost and broken / These words are your guiding light / In the darkest place: / "We are each other's secrets. / We are connected. We are connected." / When you′re lost and broken / I am your guiding light / In the darkest maze: / "We are each other's secrets. / We are connected. We are connected."
THREE. everything by thyla. this song gives me alot of modern angsty vibes, but the lyrics for this particular part are so ingrained in my heart for them that i just feel emotional whiplash when this songs comes on shuffle. the ending of this song is an emotional rollercoaster bcos it changes tune completely and builds, builds, builds, and i… oh god. this song is so good.
“I can't call you home / I can't call you home / Never said too much / Now, I can't call you home / I wish I said too much.” - tell me that isn’t the most… obikin thing ever… i’m shattered it’s fine!
FOUR. achilles come down by gang of youths. i mean. as a classics lover and a patrochilles shipper by default… this obviously must also relate to obikin. i mean, i’ll let the lyrics talk for themselves. this is like the must-have for anakin/obikin playlists.
“Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, come down / Won't you get up off, get up off the roof? / You're scaring us and all of us, some of us love you / Achilles, it's not much but there's proof / You crazy-assed cosmonaut, remember your virtue / Redemption lies plainly in truth / Just humor us, Achilles, Achilles, come down / Won't you get up off, get up off the roof?”
FIVE. remember by seinabo sey, jacob banks. this song… really reminds me of obi-wan telling luke and leia about anakin. how, even after everything, he talks of him so highly. here are the lyrics to accompany that for extra tears:
“Let me write you into history, darling / Let me sing you into eternity / So you say you just wanna be remembered / You just wanna be remembered / Just wanna be remembered.”
SIX. no devotion by tender. again, definitely a big modern angst vibe but i’m just. this is one of my most favorite songs in the world so the fact that i associate it with my boys so much really gets to me! here are the lyrics that hit hardest and ahhhhhhhh… rots obikin too… that whole quote of anakin talking about how he wanted obi-wan to stay? obi-wan not knowing what to do with all these conflicting emotions from anakin? yeah. this one.
“I don't know why you slipped away / I never even asked you to stay, baby / Cracks appeared and we both start to fade, but we're / Already broken / There's no devotion / Maybe I'm really to blame / I got my head in the sand / And I just can't understand why you're vacant and not there / Try to be patient with you, but I'm too scared / Tell me what I'm doing wrong / I'm wearing thin, but holding on / For you.”
and finally, because i could go on forever but i should save you the reading, here is my obikin playlist on spotify.

LUKE NO!!!!! YOURE RIGHT OBI-WAN WOULD KILL HIM FOR TOUCHING YOU!! JUST TELL YOUR UNCLE LUKE ITS OK!!!
No but actually good god this fic just keeps getting better.. Luke actually kissing him and wrapping his arms around him to hug him back it’s so delicious Herbie you’re feeding us so well 🥰
Hehe, I am happy to feed you, my darling little trashlings. ♥
Poor Luke is thoroughly stuck in that cycle of shame and self-hate that allows abusers to do what they do. He feels complicit in the things his father's done to him, because his body has had reactions he can't control, he feels attraction he shouldn't feel, and he's had fantasies he knows are wrong. So it's slowly changed from exposing Anakin to exposing himself, and he's too ashamed to do that, even though his father is still 100% the instigator here and the body's natural response to trauma / shock / physical touch is not something Luke could be blamed for in this situation.
Add that to the fact that he is starting to lean on the man more for comfort and affection when he's stressed and overwhelmed like this and, well... telling Obi-Wan will only become harder, not easier. The more isolated Luke feels, the more he'll be forced to rely on Anakin. The more he relies on Anakin, the less nerve he'll have to tell Obi-Wan the truth. Which, sadly, is exactly what his father wants.
So glad you're enjoying the fic, sweet anon. Thank you for the very kind ask and for reading along with it till now, it means a lot ♥
