🎨 When did you start creating art for the Inception fandom, and what is your inspiration?

Since about 2019 and I was inspired by all the amazing artists this fandom has welcomed!

🎨 Tell us about your creative process, and which part do you enjoy the most about it?

ahahahaha my creative process is usually a few hours of draw a line, ctrl Z, repeat, accompanied by much swearing.

🎨 Link us to your first and latest artwork, and how your style has evolved since then?

My first official artwork for Inception was a photomanip for the 2020 Inception Big Bang because I didn't trust my drawing skills much. My latest major artwork was one I did for the 2021 Inception Reverse Bang and I think it's a pretty decent progression! I seem to be tending toward fairly simple and strong lines, but I still have much practice to do before I really see where my style is going :)

🎨 What is your absolute favorite piece of art that you've made, and why?

I think the piece that I did of a skeletal hand holding an Edison bulb with a faintly glowing skeleton inside is the one I've shown to the most people outside of fandom XD

🎨 What is something about Inception that you really want to make art for someday, and why?

I have been lucky enough to have incredibly talented artist friends who've gifted me with art for some of my stories, but I'd really like to someday do pieces myself for a few of my fics that started out as powerful images. Also, I'd like to get confident enough to gift my art to friends to accompany some of their work! LOL, I suppose that means I need to practice more frequently.

🎨 Anything else you'd like to talk about art and the Inception fandom in general ❤

I am constantly amazed by the artists this fandom has attracted. Every Bang and Reverse Bang has me just shaking my head in awe, and I surf tumblr all the time in wonder. You are all an incredible inspiration and give me a great deal to work towards! Thank you!

What if Saito and Cobb made rice balls??

Anybody remember that one time Ken Watanabe shared homemade onigiri with Leonardo Dicaprio on set during the snowy mountain scenes??

“I’ve shared the onigiri that I make with my fellow cast-mates in the past. When I was doing Inception, I was up on a cold mountain with Leonardo Dicaprio and Cillian Murphy for some time and while we were waiting there, freezing, I said, “I got some rice balls (here in my pocket), you guys want any?.” So I gave them the ones with umeboshi in them and they went, “This is DELICIOUS!” and ate them all up.”

After I read that I OBVIOUSLY wondered WHAT IF Saito and Cobb made rice balls?? Be the change you want to see in the world, my friends. Make ALL of the CRACK.

It's about Phillipa as an adult trying to contact her own projection of Mal, since it'd been hunting her natural dreams with nightmares. (There's also background Arthur/Eames! They're the loving uncles who join Phillipa in her adventure, since she tends to lose control of dreams.)

🎨 When did you start creating art for the Inception fandom, and what is your inspiration?

It was inceptiversary 2020 that prompted me to start making art for some gorgeous and inspiring fics I've already read by then and take part in the same year's big bang to create something in collab with a writer. Team work is the best!

The characters themselves, their layers, feelings and stories told and untold are such a great source of inspiration!

🎨 Tell us about your creative process, and which part do you enjoy the most about it?

It all starts with an idea))) Could be an emotional moment in a fic that begs to capture it. Or an image that just randomly jumps out at me. Then it takes a gazillion of drafts and sketches to bring it to a kind of a satisfying shape, then the piece itself and then tons of photoediting a scan of traditional artwork into something online presentable)))

All the parts are equal amount of joy and peril for me😅 Still, with traditional art I feel more at ease at the sketching stage where it can be as loose, carefree and silly as it gets. Starting an actual clean copy always feels a bit like standing on the edge preparing for skydive, which is - not 'at ease' at all)))

🎨 Link us to your first and latest artwork, and how your style has evolved since then?

I guess, here is my first posted Inception thing and my latest artworks for Reverse Bang 2021 are here and here, and the style is still a wip at its earliest stage and has a lot of evolving to do!😅 Instead of getting stuck on details I aim to focus more on emotions, the feel and impression in general. And the characters likeness ofc!! That's my current struggle and the thing to work on.

🎨 What is your absolute favorite piece of art that you've made, and why?

Let's say it is yet to be made!😅

🎨 What is something about Inception that you really want to make art for someday, and why?

Oh, there is this list of ideas and inspiring fics as long as my arm lying in wait which I hope to work through some day! Something uplifting and colorful with the whole dream team including lovely Mal is definitely on top.

Sign-ups for the Inception Reverse Bang 2021 are now officially open!

A Reverse Bang is a fandom challenge where artists and writers create a joint project of art and accompanying story. Art is created first and then a story is written, inspired by that art piece. This RB is for our beloved Inception. All characters, ships, and gen and poly relationships are welcome.

Artists, writers, betas and pinch-hitters, all you need to sign-up is just fill this sign-ups form.

Sign-ups close Monday, September 13th 4:00 pm EDT. You can use this Time Zone Converter to check out what time it is for you.

We recommend pacing yourselves but will happily accept up to two separate pieces of artwork that will be claimed for two separate respective stories by different authors. The first stage of the artist's work is due October 23. The art piece doesn't have to be fully finished and polished for that day! Something solid and consistent that makes your intentions clear and appealing for the writers to pick during claims October 24 - October 26 will do! The final result of the artist+writer collaboration is due November 29. The public Reveal Day is December 2.
