Starkid is one of the absolute best arguments for supprting independent art. The fact that the shows you're invested in can't get canceled by Big Daddy Streaming, the quality is always amazing, the love of the cast and crew doesn't get squeezed out by surprise budget reductions, the fact that since crowd funding provides almost all costs up front (plus the presence of voluntary digital ticket/in person tickets for additional funding), the fan base can access the full material for whatever cost they can contribute (even if you can give nothing monetarily, you will still get a professionally shot version of the material eventually, without surprise fees or password crackdowns, AND with captions/completely accesible regardless of location). The same goes for Tin Can Bros, Shipwrecked, and all the other associated theater and web series companies loosely connected to Starkid. Like, I cannot believe the amazing content provided to us at the same level as Broadway or streaming services with billion dollars at hand, with almost none of the catches that come with others. Like, I cannot believe that we get all of this right at our hands.

"La Sirena"

A tribute to Frankelda, which is hands-down one of the best animated series I've seen in a long time.

I love how this show used stop motion to such great effect. The villains have wonderfully detailed designs that are bursting with character, in a way that you simply couldn't achieve with 2D or CG. I enjoyed doing my take on the delightfully grotesque Siren here!

This show really deserved to get big, and it's still criminally underrated. (Its shoddy English dub didn't do it any favors, but neither did the lack of promotion.) So if you haven't, go and check out "Sustos Ocultos de Frankelda" a.k.a. "Frankelda's Book of Spooks". If you like cartoons, and especially if you like stop motion, you owe it to yourself!

The animation is a real treat to behold, so my hat is off to the creators of this outstanding series.

I have recently worked with 4000 Records on a compilation album as a means of raising funds to support those surviving the genocide in Gaza. This compilation includes a broad spectrum of genres, including ambient, glitch and drum 'n' bass from various artists from Meanjin/Brisbane. I have passionately contributed to this project with my experimental witch house track "MOTHMAN". I feel honored to be part of this collaboration and I truly hope that it will help Palestinians in need.

all the Viiezie hate and *checking notes* ''''''"criticism"''''' really overshadows the hardwork and talent working on the show. From the vas, to the animators, color artist coordinators, sound design (omg sound design! rawr), of course background artist, and so many other divisions of the production.

I know we get a lot of peeps reactions and positivity, and legit critiquing - Im not hyper critical tho I have opinions, this is still an indie production and it will have short comings - and other positivity that recognizes the devotion and intense labor that produced the show.

But fuking hell. People really be petty as all fuk.

And what is specific of HH and Helluva as its niche in art medium, not just as an 'animated' adult cartoon, is that IT IS a cartoon. It blends the seriousness of original animated movies and mediums, with the hockey nonsense and slapstick comedy of a Bugs Bunny skit - which had adult nuances mixed in, to be inclusive to parents and kids. But we don't get a lot of this art medium, animated adult shows are either utilizing the artform with a gritty serious or other genre, like anime. The animation is just the vehicle of producing the story. However, Spindel Horse has done a fantastic job of keeping the seriousness of the story while also maintaining the comedy and method of delivery with comedy skits, which works so well.
