I love how these deaths happen over the course of 2 years. They indicates that they weren't really investigated when they actually happened.
10 of them had to die first.
Super cool.

Papa Haydn - botched wine recommendation
Halfway through the 25-minute wait on my French onion soup, I asked my server about a wine pairing. The 2021 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir on the glass pours menu instantly had my attention, as it's a favorite vintage of mine, but I suspected that the Columbia Valley Cabernet blend might suit the beef base of the soup better -- I didn't remember which cheese would be melted on top, though, and wanted a recommendation based on the knowledge of the staff.
This did not prove a successful communication with my server, who initially attempted to enthusiastically sway me toward the Pinot that I mentioned liking, calling it "bold" even knowing I was considering the Cabernet as well (which didn't exactly foster trust in the knowledge or availability for assistance of my server). I had to really push to even get the server to offer to ask the bartender for a recommendation, who apparently liked both red meat and red wine more than this server did, leading the server to believe that the bartender would be a more reliable source of basic menu knowledge.
I was surprised when, several minutes later, a glass of the Cabernet blend was delivered to my table by someone whom was neither my server nor the bartender who might have been more knowledgeable. I had not yet received the information I was looking for to make my decision, nor had I even decided on ordering a glass at all; and yet, it seemed the decision had been made for me.
Now, in attempt to ease the impression that this review is written in bad faith, I do understand that Sunday at noon is likely the height of Papa Haydn's busy lunch rush, and the wait time was not something I would reasonably take issue with. In fact, I could have happily waited even more time to ensure an experience worth returning for, and I don't blame the server for being woefully under-informed and simultaneously over-zealous to please the customer with as little pressure on the bar as possible. In my experience, that particular quirk of service is the direct result of under-supportive management with irresponsible training, and I made sure to tip appropriately so my server didn't suffer further negative consequences of an establishment that needed to comp a botched wine sale ($6 on a ticket that would have had a $15 glass with the $12 soup).
I decided it wasn't worth attempting to resolve this issue in the moment because the staff were so obviously swamped already -- far be it from me to increase the stress of a shift like that by refusing to adapt my expectations to the clearly-evident chaos.
The only reason that this review of service is receiving a second star is the host who greeted me at the front, who was warm, inviting, professional, and highly competent. If my entire experience had reflected that initial impression, there would be five stars for service.
Food-wise, the soup was fine. Not great, not inedible, just a well proportioned, if slightly jammy, French onion. Even though the Cabernet blend was probably technically the right call, I still found the mishandling of a simple recommendation request distasteful enough to disappoint for my first dining experience at a longstanding establishment in my neighborhood.

Had my long-overdue annual coffee check-in with the head of HR who is technically also one of my supervisors. Lots of general chit-chat catch-up, which was fine, but also she had some more serious questions, like "how is the job going? Do you need anything? Any concerns about or suggestions for the company?" and gods help me (and oh how they have helped me), while I couldn't think of things off the top of my head, I did mention how the wording about how raises were handled last spring was confusing, so that was a useful conversation to happen and then when she pressed the point about my salary in particular - when I had already mentioned it was just barely enough to afford a 1BR in PDX, so I am better off buying a house in a sticks, ahhh, well, years of pent up rage fucking broke my last grasp on my filters and I told her I could have been earning this much in 2008, and since I have loads more experience now, it's a little galling my wages have been essentially flat for that long.
And I know this isn't because the place I work fucking sucks, it's because "the industry" (well; more like the whole fucking misogynistic world we live in) doesn't fucking value "admin" work. Anyway! I snapped! I'm going to need to lie down for the rest of the day! I'm having 3 kinds of anxiety attack! MY FILTERS WHERE DID THEY GO
But she did acknowledge that I have a lot of really valuable experience and etc etc they will take another look at what I'm making. I don't know if they will or can adjust what I make by a lot, since they have myriad calculations that go into this whole fucking thing, but. Well.

i just dont get how anyone can actually support a show thats put a 30 year old man who happens to be one of the best idol-producers in the industry back to a position he was in 12 fucking years ago along with kids that are half his age??? mnet are actively humiliating hui for views and i dont care if it turns out this was his choice because mnet are still humiliating him. he doesnt need a survival show to remain relevant. he doesnt need a survival show to have a career
hwanhee and xiao... topmed clearly learned nothing from the jinhyuk/wooseok/pdx debacle. mnet had to pay jinhyuk court ordered damages because they rigged him out of the x1 final line up yet topmed have sent two more up10 members onto a survival show produced by mnet... and you know this means the end of up10. topmed have destroyed a perfectly good group instead of investing in them. i just.... [inaudible screeching, mostly cuss words]
i fucking hate everything about this with a deep passion

Been playing as Mexico for my first post-tutorial Victoria 3 game and it definitely seems like a pretty good country to learn the ropes. You’ve got tons of territory both heavily populated and not, a lot of raw potential to industrialize with all the states you have that can produce stuff like iron, wood and coal which seem to be the most important basic resources but also enough agricultural jobs that you don’t need to worry about feeding your own population.
Also the war with Texas is a cakewalk as long as you mobilize another general but it introduces the warfare mechanics in an easily manageable way (sorta like how Italy is a good country to learn HoI4 bc the opening war with Ethiopia introduces warfare in a fairly manageable way). Don’t need to worry about the US either as long as you make sure to improve relations which is fine bc another nice thing as Mexico is being able to trade with the USA without needing to spend convoys (since ports are one of the things you need to build up) due to sharing a land border. Building up military a little bit is still good though especially since you have plenty of ability to expand in all directions from Jill
Ofc one of the things PDX has said is that they will try to add a little bit of determinism to the US so the Civil War actually happens and Im gonna guess the US AI will also become more aggressive towards Mexico as well so I’ll make sure to enjoy happy peaceful Mexico while it lasts

15 years in, Everybody's Brewing undergoes a refresh with new labels, a new logo, and several new releases.

Press Release
[White Salmon, WA, March 6th, 2023]. Everybody’s Brewing, a mid-size brewery out of White Salmon, Washington, announced today that it has completed a major rebranding, first unveiled at their pub in White Salmon, WA on March 4th, 2023.
Everybody’s Brewing was founded in 2008, on the principles of creating the highest quality craft beer, in a space where everyone would feel welcome. While this ethos remains the same, they wanted to elevate their visual presence to match the quality of their product. The full overhaul of their visual identity will be rolled out across all facets of the business, including packaged products, interior design, and online presence. The launch of the rebrand coincides with the release of four new year-round 12oz cans, and two new seasonal 16oz cans.
“We’ll still be the same Everybody’s,” said Everybody’s Co-Owner Doug Ellenberger, “but we recognize the importance of keeping our branding fun and relevant. The market has changed a lot in the 14 years since we opened, and we’re keeping up with those changes. We feel the new branding will appeal both to our day-one customers, and folks that haven’t yet thought to give us a try.” Says Ellenberger, “We take a lot of pride in the quality of our beer, and we are also really proud of our new look.”
The former branding, designed in 2008, featured a logo of people standing together with beers in hand – a very literal interpretation of “Everybody’s”. Over the years, the logo remained the same while aspects of artwork on their cans slowly, continuously evolved. This slow evolution allowed the company to grow, but they found the products becoming less cohesive over time. The new branding is not only an effort to tighten up their look, but a chance for the company to define and re-iterate who “Everybody’s Brewing” is, and what they stand for.
“We kicked off this project by exploring the mission and voice of our company, which was a really exciting aspect of the process for us.” Says Co-Owner Christine Ellenberger, “It was a chance to sit down and say ‘Okay, we know who we are, but how do we better define that share it with people?’ In the end, the most important thing was that we stay true to our core values: inclusivity, quality, fun, and community.”
The new branding has a clean, but retro feel, and maintains the playful aspect that Everybody’s is known for. This can be exemplified by 12oz cans of their new “Co-Pilot Pilsner”, featuring a joyful, animated dog hanging out the side of a classic pickup truck window.
Their new logo is a flag with an emblazoned “E”, and new slogan boldly states, “Beer For All.”
Ellenberger noted it’s importance, “The flag was kind of an ironic play; traditionally, they’re used to stake claim or ownership someone or something specific, but our flag stakes claim for everybody. We truly believe that craft beer is a community staple, one that everyone should be able to enjoy. Our new slogan drives that home. We make beer for everybody.”
Everybody’s will continue the celebration of their rollout, and your first chance to buy the new cans, at the following events:
PDX: 3/9 – Belmont Station
Vancouver: 3/10 Ben’s Bottle Shop
Tacoma: 3/14 – Peaks and Pints
Visit Everybodysbrewing.com to further explore the new branding and their new lineup of cans.
About Everybody’s Brewing: Founded in 2008, Everybody’s Brewing sits perfectly nestled on the cliffs of White Salmon, WA, overlooking the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Inspired by the region’s premium hop and malt production, their beer offerings reflect the ever-changing trends and innovation within the brewing industry. The brewery’s pub features globally-inspired fare with great attention paid to high-quality ingredients and customer experience, with jaw-dropping views of its volcanic neighbor to the south: Mt. Hood.
