"damn, you've got skill," yuri's been watching this guy haggle at the opalarian market for a few minutes now. normally, he'd find the idea of swindling people hard to stomach, but the customers looked wealthy enough to handle losing a few stars. no use wasting energy thinking about it.

"...plus that snazzy getup and everything," he takes a second to readjust the wooden sword resting across his shoulder, eyeing the other... er, less elegant stall owners before he continues, "don't you think you're trying a little too hard, though? if it works, it works, but... i dunno, maybe it's the hat giving off that shady con artist vibe."

LOUNGES, casinos, and the like were not the usual places of interest for the doctor. Much of them were crooked places run by crooked people, and Baizhu had a public face to consider. For even the smallest of stains could ruin the finest silk; his actions would only carry pride and care, lest he thrust his reputation into jeopardy. But Mostro Lounge was something of an exception to these notions. A cut above the rest, and a visit he could pardon on the account of business. And it was business the two establishments certainly shared, as strange as that collaboration might seem to an outsider’s eye. Their trade was not of lavish food and drinks, but instead a common footing between the owners. Where Baizhu practiced medicine, so too did Azul excel in the art of potion making. While he would not call these crafts quite the same, they did have their similarities. Those notably being their ingredients, which the merfolk had a first-class selection of indeed. For the two, commerce was aplenty. It was a worthwhile arrangement to foster, seeing as they each came into possession of goods the other wanted on a regular basis. It’s why Baizhu finds himself here today—to trade, of course. Between the pads of his fingers, golden eyes observe none other than a hand-sized bundle of wild lingzhi mushrooms; a sought after component of his personal research he had been particularly eager to get his hands on. ❝ What exquisite specimens they are... Although I would expect nothing less of your keen eye, Mr. Ashengrotto. ❞ Pleased, the apothecary hums a tune while his serpentine companion offers an approving nod. Though it was common myth these mushrooms had their ties to longevity, Baizhu had a new and promising lead up his sleeve.

“ you know , i really never thought i would be this happy to walk into mostro lounge ... ”

despite how much of a smart-ass he sounded like , he really was happy to walk in . it was something familiar , the only things familiar in a brand new world . there was little to no surprise when floyd had mentioned the lounge being recreated here . it sounded way too much like azul to take advantage of a new place for the sake of his business . this dude should write a book about entrepreneurship -- just maybe leave the shady contracts part out of it .

there is a light laugh , a smile offered to his upperclassman . his arms cross a bit , head tilting slightly as he speaks up again .

“ glad to see you’re making the most of this place , azul . you making contracts again too ? oh shit -- wait we don’t have most of our magic , huh ? ”

you know i already answered, but i’ll always take the chance to talk about floyd leech my baby boy. although this is gonna be incoherent and all over the place, ill try and explain him as best as i can.

hes such an interesting character!!! no one else can pull off the aggression while also being so endearing like he can!!! but i think a lot of the time people mischaracterize him which is unfortunate (also a habit ive seen within the en only fanbase, but i digress thats the translators fault and not the fans so much ). hes not someone you can easily tell what hes thinking and a lot of the time his words don’t match his actual thoughts. he shows his sincereity through actions and i think people often times forget that. hes a liar- as seen in the scarabia chapter but not always as seen in the beans day event where even though he does sacrifice his allies for his personal gain, he gives epel actual good advice multiple times. he goes after people who finds interesting or powerful and its so funny to me he tries and picks fights with people knowing damn well he’ll get his ass beat sometimes but thats all part of the learning experience. hes gifted, and he does what seems fun, but hes also not the type of person to give up if hes not naturally good at it which i think is so fun as someone who has gifted kid burnout. hes also very much a predator in terms of his instincts. at the end of the day, hes an eel and his ‘creepiness’ i think also comes from the fact he doesn’t act entirely human on top of his violent tendacies. which is rly cute to me idk

anyway long story short, i picked him because i wanted to write someone completely different than any other muse i have, and i was really won over by his eccentric and violent nature that balances out so nicely in a person whos mood switches so often its funny. hes a do whatever he wants when he wants too and its so fun to write out his next moves with other people because he and i both thrive off the reactions. anyway gg nice character twst

12. What would you say is the most unique trait about your character?

I definitely don't think it's rare in video games and anime anymore to have a reformed delinquent / delinquent who's actually a softy type character...but I think it's really cool they took this character, and made him a HUGE mama's boy. Deuce's whole backstory is something I haven't really seen before. You get a single mother and her only son - and the son does absolutely everything and everything he can to aid his mom, even reform what kind of person he is from the ground up in realizing his actions are hurting her. Deuce has such a close relationship with his mom and constantly brings him up. That's so rare to see in a teenage boy character; someone not being ashamed or embarrassed about their parents, or how much they love them. Being someone who has an unabashedly close relationship with my own parents - it was really awesome to see this! It's definitely a unique trait, as unfortunate as it is.

had she known wandering throughout the establishment with her camera out , snapping pictures at her leisure would end up like this , the illustrator would have just LEFT ! the last ten minutes have been terrible , face - to - face with two gigantic THUGS with sharp teeth , & now brought in front of the establishment’s boss as though a misbehaved child .

scary ... ! fists gripping the end of her skirt , posture straightened in the presence of another ——— ena’s heart feels like it’s on the urge of bursting . wasn’t this just a pretty lounge ?! was she wrong in believing it was simply a gorgeous restaurant just filled to the brim with amazing selfie opportunities & source of motivation for her next illustration ?! [ the rich colors & ocean theme : maybe ... a mermaid unsatisfied with her sea - life ! ]

in the first place , why were there such scary looking thugs at a normal lounge ?! & ... the one in charge couldn’t be too much older than herself .

❛❛ u - um — i just want to say i didn’t see anything ! really ! ❜❜ while not necessarily a lie , such suspicious wording uttered frantically would make anyone believe otherwise .

Club, diamond, heart, spade.

The suits flutter by in a flash between his hands, a deft flick sending the deck fanning from palm to palm-- a neat trick Trey picked up while figuring out how to amuse his siblings. But it’s not wide eyes and brightly smiling faces that he’s entertaining now; sly blue eyes behind silver frames watch closely as he turns his wrist, a sleight of hand that makes a card vanish then appear from thin air. It’s the most magic he can muster at the moment, unfortunate as that was.

But to clear any doubts that he had any more tricks up his sleeves before dealing Azul’s hand, Trey pulls his sleeves to show his innocence, laying the deck flat across the green velveteen of the card table. 52 cards lay in an arc, 52 cards lay face down, 52 cards lay waiting for a final shuffle.

“I promise a fair game Azul. After all, we are playing for some pretty interesting stakes.”

A request, within reason, was up in the air. Though Trey was not sure what reasonable meant in Azul’s book. Gathering the pack back in his hand, Trey took turns to deal each of them a card, five in total to peel neatly from the tabletop. Placing the rest of the deck in the space between them, Trey drew the first card from the top before flipping it face up.

9 of hearts.

Keeping his own cards closely guarded, Trey gestured for Azul to take the first move if he so wished. Now, he was positive that a member of the board game club knew the rules, but from habit of reminding his siblings, he spoke.

“Winner has the most sets of four, and if you don’t have a match, say go fish.”

If the circumstances were different, or were it anyone else who offered to help him, Dorian would have vehemently protested the treatment.

As it is, he can't afford to be choosy with a twisted ankle and a sprained wrist from falling off his broom during Flying classes. Good news: no mandatory gym classes for the foreseeable future. Bad news: literally everything else.

He should feel lucky, he wasn't too far from the ground when he'd fallen, so at least there were no broken bones nor a concussion to worry about. It's still very annoying though, having to walk around with someone else's help because a single crutch isn't easy to use with both injuries on the same sides and your balance being different than a land-dweller's.

Dorian holds onto his step-brother's arm a little tighter as he carefully lowers himself onto a chair, face scrunched in both effort and slight pain, breathing a sigh of relief once he's fully seated.

"This sucks..." he complains under his breath, looking like he wants to face-plant onto the table for all of half a second before thinking better of it. He gives Azul a grateful but tired smile instead "Sorry you have to deal with me in this circumstances, I'll try not to get too much in the way..."

Its a little daunting. Naira liked a challenge, make no mistake. But this literal laundry list of orders Azul had...she was worried.

Not that the tasks were hard, but that he wanted them each by a certain time. Did he simply think her to be a machine? That she can just work without tiring or needing breaks? Sure, she's effecient and sure, she's usually pretty quick at what she does. But the way he wants all of this done...she'd have to skip several meals, possibly all of her classes, and then lose a few hours of sleep.

Perhaps he could sense the anxiety swell within the fairy as she read over everything. His hand on her shoulder, it was rather large compared to her and encompassed the whole thing.

With a mildly worried look, she looks back to Azul who only seemed to smile, squeeze her shoulder, and then walk off to go do whatever he does.

Well...

Nothing else but to start working at it. If she gets started now, she can probably have at least five of the things done by the end of the next two classes. She'll have to use that magic little box and let Yuu know she'll be late getting back to the dorm.
