Inkitt is a scam. Inkitt lures people into giving away their first publishing rights so they can’t sell the book to anyone else, and gives them “a chance to win” a contract. Or possibly be shopped around to real publishers, which is the job of an agent. Honestly, the whole thing is so screwy that I won’t try to lay it all out again here. You can read the posts above.

Here are some general pro tips about publishing: No publisher will ever reply to your casual post about writing on social media with an offer of publication. No publisher will sign a book that has already been published for free on the internet unless that book has already proven that it can sell a million copies, and probably not even then. And no author should ever sign away their book for “a chance” or “exposure.”

If you've just completed NaNoWriMo, you might have noticed something called "Inkitt" promoted as a sponsor in the Winner Goodies. In the post linked above, Rachel Sharp explains why you should not under any circumstances give Inkitt your work, and why NaNoWriMo promoting Inkitt is really concerning. Sharp also links to several other authors who have similarly criticized Inkitt as a scam, as well as reddit and Quora threads where it's been discussed.

Bad news with wattpad ; m ;

Hello guys….how have you been?…I'm fine, but a little worried about something that has happened.

In case you heard the news, Wattpad has added new guidelines regarding its content and function of its platform.

The truth is that I am quite hurt by how things are working out and how it affects many writers, especially writers who write fanfics and AUs…

This means that it may no longer be possible to write on Wattpad and that many now run the risk of having their accounts and stories deleted for no reason…regardless of whether your story is your own, is a fanfic or is an AU.

That's why I'm writing this to let you know that I may have to move to another platform…maybe AO3, Fanfiction, or Inkitt…and move my stories and AUs to one of those sites, however, since I've I've been on Wattpad for several years, I don't know if they will be useful to me.

I would like you to give me your suggestions and recommendations on what platforms I can use to continue writing my AUs and fanfics.

I’ve seen a few, like Royal Road, Inkitt, Wattpad, Webnovel, Tapas, etc. But I’m always stuck on what platform I should go with regarding original fiction (fanfiction is always ao3 for me ❤️)
