(Edit: Hey, so i was wrong. Most of this consists of a modernized and inncorrect version of cernunnos, as well as a mistaken use of a religion not considered pagan as it is not an european religion that was essentially ‘wiped out’ (or at least, considered illeagal to practice) and that was hinduism. Im going to leave this post up, however, with this edit because i want people to know and understand that not everything you read and hear about various mythologies is true. Especially when they cone from basic google searches abd youtube videos. I totally intend to continue learning, abd i want to thank everyone who took the time to actually tell me all of the facts in why i was wrong instead of attacking me, it means a lot.)
Hey, just stopping by to tell you that every depiction of the christianic satan with horns is fake
The depiction was originally created during the times when christians were trying to drive ‘pagans’ out of existance by complicating or falsifying parts of various old religions.
Satans ‘horns’ came about as a way of defacing the celtic god cernunnos, who was a prominent and highly extold figure with variations in almost every religion, including
Herne, english god of the wild hunt
Pan, the great god of the wild in greek religion
Pashupati, hindu god of animals
Veles, slavic pantheon
Probably definitly more
All of which had horns/antlers
Also, the word ‘pagan’ was created as a derogatory term, meant to be synonymous with witchcraft and devil worship.
Which is why i refer to those religions as the old religions.
