You remember the devlogs from Kaycee’s Mod? Well, here’s my spin on them for the Apocalyption AU. If they were real, they’d be accessible without Kaycee’s Mod (though still needing to be unlocked.)
— Devlogs and DATA (Part 1/2) —
LOG 1
Today I finally get to do something meaningful with this company. From the day they hired me, all I got to do was bug hunt and playtest weird games from franchises that no one has even heard of.
I know that I’m not the most experienced coder out there, but come on! I can do so much more than what they’re letting me.
Anyways, they’re letting me work on this new project. Inscription, I believe it’s called? I know virtually nothing about it. But hey. I’m sure It’l be more fun than reporting glitches all day.
LOG 2
It’s been a day or two since I started working on Inscryption, and I have to admit: it seems promising. I mean, how many virtual card games are out there? At least it’s not an UNO clone.
I’ve only done small things so far like making sure that certain animations display properly. It’s another 2D game, just like GameFuna’s previous works, but it looks like some 3D stuff will be implemented later on, which is cool.
I’m considering poking around the files when I get the chance. Wonder what other neat stuff I can find in here before it’s inevitably left on the cutting room floor.
LOG 3
So, I was looking through some folders when I found this file that looked out of place. It was labelled as ‘OL_CARD.zip’, so I decided to unzip it. What I got was a single exe file that did nothing when opened. Must’ve been a card placeholder or something?
Anyways, I left it alone because the last thing I want is some higher-up getting mad at me for ‘tampering with the game.’ Besides. I kinda want to look into it some more.
Now all I gotta do is find it. Call me crazy, but it’s not in the folder I last saw it in. I swear, I’m gonna be seriously angry if this is some virus.
LOG 4
ITS FUCKING ALIVE HOLY SHIT
LOG 5
Note to self: redo log 4.
I still don’t know what’s going on, but when I booted up Inscryption, there was this red mass of pixels right outside Leshy’s cabin. I tried interacting with it, and a text box full of gibberish showed up.
I decided to ignore it and check up on the scrybe, and I found that Leshy seemed…off. His personality still isn’t very fleshed out, but he seemed to be on edge. The other NPCs in the area were, too. That’s when I shut off the game.
But that damn red thing was on my desktop now. It couldn’t open a text box with Inscryption closed, so it opened Notepad instead. Let me copy and paste what it said.
H̷e̶l̴l̷o̶ ̴t̴h̴e̸r̸e̵!̸ ̵:̸)̶
I wish I was making this up. Is this some kind of advanced AI? If so, why are they keeping it hidden in this random-freaking file tucked away in the back of a card game?
I have so many questions. And a part of me wants to ask this thing for answers.
LOG 6
Out of every single employee, I’m the one who gets the haunted game. Seems about right considering my luck.
Well, I’m not sure if this thing is a ghost or not. I’ve been talking to ‘Olcard’ by adding text into the code, and it’s been responding with those bugged text boxes. At least it’s getting better at using them.
Whatever it is, it’s really curious about the game and its development. I’ve asked my fellow coders if anything similar is happening to them, and they all give me weird looks. I’m half expecting to wake up any minute now.
I’ve finished up Leshy’s area and I’m working on Grimora’s next. Olcard gave me some good tips when I got stuck, so I think keeping him around a little while longer wouldn’t hurt anyone.

Okay so, since I’m not sure if it’ll ever get fully written, my fic/au idea goes like this:
Act 1 starts off based on @randomgamefan’s excellent Playtester AU, since I’m a sucker for the whole “protagonist gets sucked into media” premise. (In this one, Luke’s an only child after the death of his sister and doesn’t have much contact with his family.) Luke’s computer crashed and G0lly’s upload failed, but one rushed copy did manage to be created on Luke’s computer, a sort of imperfect cut and paste of the original Inscryption; all that remains on the floppy is the OLD_DATA… but that doesn’t mean the copy is free of it. Luke wakes up generally confused, meets the Scrybes, and finds out he’s in the game... or part of him at least, according to Grimora.
(He was never shot. When he viewed the OLD_DATA, he couldn’t eject the floppy in time and it took his mind, leaving his body comatose and crashing the computer. Since he never called the press, Amanda wasn’t alerted for the last resort and she took the disk and his evidence once the house was empty.)
He tries to help out, but what little working relationships the Scrybes had before are completely shot through now, and the damage to the game, a mysterious illness, and other strange occurences aren’t helping matters. Cue some detective work while trying to play peacekeeper, filler slice of life, a massive battle with the source of the illness, and finding out how to get Luke back into the real world. Outside the Scrybes’ knowledge, during the process of getting him home, Luke tries to bring them with him by focusing on all his encounters with them.
Act 2 is where things gets fun and where the idea for this whole thing originated! Luke wakes up from his coma and rushes home once he’s discharged. He finds his house neatly ransacked but empty, until he checks the floppy disk drive and finds four official-looking Inscryption card-game cards depicting a three-legged stoat, a face-marked stinkbug, a one-eyed wolf, and a moss-covered grizzly bear… and they can talk (P03 is so pissed about being a stoat again and it wants everyone to know it; Leshy is living the dream). More than that, they find out that the Scrybes can exit their cards as the beast they’re depicted as during the daytime, and assume their true forms during the night. After fixing the computer, the rest of the game’s characters can all still be interacted with and use the floppy drive to interact with the real world (though with a time limit).
I call it the Roommate AU! This part is basically funny slice of life, small conflicts, and relationship building, while also setting up the pieces for Act 3. Including but not limited to:
- Trying to keep a frequently-wandering Leshy out of sight of the neighbors before they call animal control
- Stoat-P03 using a Roomba as transportation
- Luke waking up to find Grimora holding a seance in his living room and immediately going back to bed
- Decorating Magnificus like a Christmas tree
- Found family and the requisite angst and comfort that comes with it
Act 3 is where everything comes together for one last big conflict that requires all that built-up trust and teamwork to overcome. The details of said conflict are still up in the air, but would likely include GameFuna really coming after Luke after one too many close calls rather than being the looming but indulgent threat from the previous act, making a true Inscryption game using all of the Scrybes’ expertise, and other things.
There we go! I’m currently writing some bits and pieces, but for now it’s just ideas. I’ll probably post some drawings/snippets if people are interested. Feel free to ask me about it!

You have free reign to talk about all of cabinet man AU to me!! (Please I love it so much)
Oh man you do not KNOW how much i have to say about this au- ok. Currently writing it so i will avoid going into too much depth about it BUT.
It’s like a prequel-au? Essentially I had the thought of ‘what if the scrybes are souls of people trapped in inscryption’ and then immediately came to the conclusion that p03 would have probably been grabbed Much Later in development, just based on how much its personality differs from the other ones, so!
The au has it getting hired by gamefuna to work as a playtester-coder. Test the AI, correct their strategies, get paid, go home. Once it starts to realize that these are people and not just ais, it goes on this whole deep-dive mission to find out just what gamefuna’s doing and stop the developers of inscryption before its too late!
… and. Of course. You probably saw the drawings i made and i Did say it was a prequel-au for a reason. Poe doesn’t exactly do what it was set out to do.
Of course, if youd like me to go into more details *please* feel free! I have thoughts about kaycee and the rest of the minor npcs, along with a healthy dose of scrybe headcanons that are a part of this!!/pos

Hey! Just wanted to come in here and say that I love your Inscryption stuff, especially your Luke Carder stuff and the Playtester AU. Keep up the good work, take your time and I can't wait for the next chapter!
HI!!! tysm, I've seen you in my notes a lot and I love your name and pfp :) a delight to have you about!
I'm glad to hear!! I know I haven't posted a lot of stuff in regards to Inscryption, I've picked up on multiple fandoms in the past year and so it's been hard to balance, and also life has been super busy.
I hope to get to it sometime soon! I really love the story of Playtester (it's all planned out, though it's not Kaycee's mod compatible because KM was one of the things that made me pause the fic) but I really just don't currently have a lot of time to write or draw for fun.
These type of comments really up my motivation a lot though, I can't understate how much I appreciate this ask and everyone I see in my notes :) (and really, any interaction y'all have sent, I love getting asks and seeing names I recognize in my notes)
But uh- this is my current vibe also
Tumblr media
Feel free to blame Ezzy at least partially for nothing coming out lmao.
I'd love to talk about Playtester more, and the whole AU I've built up around it! And a lot of other fandoms! I'm just quite busy and drawing and writing actually edited stuff takes so much time! If you have any fun ideas or just wanna say hi though, I'll try to get to them as soon as possible :)
(okay I'll stop rambling now- apologies if this was a long and convoluted answer!! This really does mean a lot to me :> )

Here’s the last six devlogs written by my version of Kaycee for the Apocalyption AU :)
— Devlogs and DATA (Part 2/2) —
LOG 7
I found that a portion of my Inscryption-related files got corrupted for some reason, so I moved Olcard’s file to my desktop as I restored my backup. But then I came back to my computer after a small break to see him literally googling things. Like. What?
I moved his file back to Inscryption, but that didn’t stop Olcard from ‘exploring’ my computer. We had a chat in notepad about why I don’t want him to do that, and he seemed to understand.
I know he’s ‘special’ and all, but I won’t hesitate to send Olcard to the recycling bin if he keeps this up. The higherups are starting to notice me and I don’t want him blowing it.
LOG 8
Olcard’s been messing with my computer again. I remember closing everything before turning it off after work yesterday, but when I turned it on this morning, both the search engine and Inscryption were open.
According to the search history, Olcard was brushing up on his spriting knowledge. I almost didn’t want to see what changes he made to the game, but I knew I had to for the sake of my job. Long story short, he messed with some of the Challenger’s sprites. Now this wouldn’t be concerning if it wasn’t for the fact that he completely covered their faces in red.
Olcard must’ve known that I would be mad, as I couldn’t find him anywhere on my computer. This is getting ridiculous. I think I’m just going to keep working on dialogue, and deal with undoing his tampering later.
Speaking of Olcard, I caught a glimpse of him on my desktop for a split second. I might be wrong, but he looked a little bit different.
LOG 9
Olcard definitely looks different. I managed to keep him on my screen long enough to talk to him. He’s still a mass of red pixels, but he’s definitely got arms and what looks like a singular leg now.
You know what? I’m just going to include the conversation we had. It speaks for itself.
Tumblr media
Pardon my language, but what the fuck? I don’t have a working microphone on this thing AND the webcam is covered up! How did he know I had a water bottle with me?! It might have just been a lucky guess. Yeah.
I think I’m going to move his folder to the recycling bin, but not emptying it. That should get my point across.
LOG 10
I think it worked. I haven’t heard from Olcard in a few days, and I haven’t found any new corrupted files or tampered sprites. Maybe I should just go ahead and delete him. I mean, he was helpful at first, but as of recently all Olcard did was get on my nerves.
I’m being asked to help test out the mox mechanic. Don’t get me wrong: I hate playtesting, but I feel like I’m in need of a change of pace. I think I can finally put this weird AI thing behind me now.
——
So I’m about to play a few rounds with Magnificus, and I noticed a new, completely static covered card in my starting hand. I played it, and it crashed the game. Now Inscryption refuses to start. Great. Just when my luck was starting to turn.
LOG 11
I managed to get Inscryption to run again, and I only have one thing to say: what the heck is happening? Some NPCs have gone missing, and there’s zero trace of them anywhere in the files. And all of the scrybe’s dialogue keep mentioning ‘the red’ or ‘the data.’
The higherups are asking for a status report. What do I say? “Oh, the Prospector, the Melter, and one of Magnificus’ students went missing, and now Inscryption is starting to look funny. Everything’s a-ok here!”
The game refuses to close, and I’m stuck playing it normally. The bridge is broken in three spots, leaving me with only one option: Leshy’s zone. But the trees have multiplied on the overworld map, and it looks like there’s more than just a cabin now.
I’m not dealing with this. If this is what Olcard wants the game to be like, he should have asked me to make a mod once it’s complete. I did what I should have done a long time ago, which was unplugging the computer.
But it didn’t turn off.
LOG 12
He didn’t let me in the cabin. Told me to wait, so I did. I waited until everyone left the building. Can’t believe this guy is making me work overtime. I am beyond mad at him at this point and can’t wait to finally erase this jerk (after having one last talk, of course.)
As I finally was let into the cabin all the lights in the building turned off, leaving the computer monitor as my only light source. The power had been iffy the last few days so this was just a coincidence, right?
I didn’t see Leshy anywhere inside the cabin. Instead, a red person with an animal-like head was in his spot. I audibly muttered a “who the heck-“ and to my surprise, the figure answered me.
Y̸o̵u̵ ̵k̶n̸o̶w̴ ̸f̷u̸l̴l̸ ̷w̷e̸l̸l̸ ̴w̸h̸o̵ ̶I̷ ̸a̷m̷,̴ ̴K̶a̴y̴c̶e̵e̸.̵
I said it before, and I’ll say it again: I don’t have a working microphone on this thing.
I̵ ̴a̸s̷s̸u̴m̸e̶ ̴y̸o̷u̶ ̷w̷a̵n̷t̵ ̸t̶o̶ ̶t̵a̸l̴k̶,̷ ̵y̸e̶s̶?̴ Completely awestruck at this point, I silently nodded.
T̶h̵e̸n̵ ̷c̶o̷m̸e̸ ̸c̷l̴o̵s̷e̸r̷.̷ ̴L̴e̷t̴’̸s̴ ̷h̷a̷v̷e̷ ̷a̴ ̸n̵i̵c̶e̸ ̵l̴i̸t̴t̸l̴e̶ ̵c̴h̴a̸t̸.̴
Part of me wanted to rush up to the computer, it’s fan droning louder and louder in the pitch-black space, but I resisted. Well, I resisted long enough to write this down on my phone.
I’m not going to pass up the chance to give Olcard a piece of my mind before emptying the recycling bin. I’ve had it with him. This ends today.

Hey local Inscryption fans, guess who it is-
I should probably name this fic outside of playtester AU, huh? Regardless, I'm finally done with chapter 2, and chapter production is going rather smoothly! Thanks to everyone on the discord for helping with inspiration and reading this over in beta version! It means a lot!
You may also see this on A03 sometime soon! Oh boy! Anyways, hopefully you all enjoy!

Tldr: Luke has already gone through the five stages of grief and just figured he'll roll with whatever's going on
Luke found himself once again across from Leshy, the man handing him a simple four card deck - a stoat, two wolves, and a river snapper. Luke studied the stoat for some time, but found nothing odd about the card as he played it against Leshy.
The introduction was short and sweet, as expected, Luke gathering an extra tooth for his troubles. Leshy gave a nod, pulling out a wooden figurine of a man with orcish features, dressed in seeming military attire and carrying a large axe. With a sudden snap, a large map depicting a thicket of woods was unrolled on the table, the figurine placed at its beginning
"You find yourself in a thick forest, a single path in front of you." Leshy commentated, allowing himself to get into the theatrics. Not that it was minded, Luke rather enjoyed how much life the scrybe put into his game. “There is a light fog, but not enough that your immediate path is blocked.”
Luke reached out, moving his piece forward. Leshy dealt three cards. “Three of the forest’s inhabitants approached you. The deadly adder, able to kill with one bite. The undying cat, which will not die when sacrificed. The clever beaver, building up dams wherever he goes.”
After careful consideration, Luke added the cat to his deck. In early game, it wasn't much, but late game he often found it invaluable.
Leshy simply nodded at his choice, allowing Luke to move forward and warm one of his creatures by the fire, before finding an abandoned pack on the road.
The pattern was familiar and easy enough to adapt from his previous playthroughs of the game, so the closer Luke got to the prospector, the more he felt his arrogance getting the better of him. Knowing how the game works, he could afford to take moves a bit too dangerous, and found himself succeeding.
At least, until his last battle before the prospector.
Leshy laid out two grand firs on Luke's side of the field, before putting down a grizzly and a sparrow on incoming. The memory hit Luke like a truck. This battle was one that Leshy used to teach Luke how losing worked in his game- but no, he could win this, for sure! He had a lot more experience playing against grizzlies, and could do something about this!
"It is your turn." Leshy's voice snapped Luke out of his thoughts, and he cleared his throat, putting down the stoat in the one spot not blocked by the grizzly. He'd put the cat's sigil on the stoat, so the move itself was good, though Luke wasn't sure what more he could do. He broke a squirrel bottle to block the grizzly for the time being, before ringing the bell
One damage to Leshy. He could do this.
Leshy nodded, playing another grizzly to counter the stoat, Luke gritting his teeth as he looked the older man in the eye. Well, guess Leshy had his mind set on how this would go. "I'm not going to win this, am I?"
The older man chuckled lowly at this comment, with a simple, "I suppose not, at least with your current setup."
Luke huffed. He didn't exactly like feeling cornered, but let Leshy get his damage in, wanting this battle to be over. That didn't take long.
"You lost. Fetch me the candlestick by the door, would you?"
Luke nodded, standing from the rather uncomfortable wooden chair. Would it kill Leshy to invest in something that wasn’t made of pure wood? As he stepped forward to grab the candlestick, Luke glanced out the small window on the door, the woods stretching as far as the eye could see. He found his thoughts drifting to beyond the woods - he'd seen outside the cabin on the way in, and it was remarkably similar to Leshy’s cabin that he'd seen while playing the intended version of the game. So, logically, if he'd walk the other direction, Luke could find Grimora. He'd love to have a conversation with her, since she seemed to know the most about him when the files were being deleted. Oh, right, and he’d love to hear more about how the plan even worked, that might have helped it turn out the way she wanted.
Luke shook his head, snapping himself out of his thoughts. Candlestick, right, he wanted to see how the rest of this session played out. He blew out one of the two alight candles before returning.
"I'm aware how the mechanic works." He told Leshy, simply getting a nod in return from the old man.
"Then, shall we continue?" Leshy grabbed the scroll, unrolling it and allowing Luke to replace his figurine in its spot, before moving forward to the prospector fight.
Leshy seemed to disappear for a few seconds, though Luke could tell he was grabbing a couple of props before dimming the lights in the cabin, lighting two candles in the small fake skull he kept. A strange sound began playing, one Luke identified as.. a pickaxe, ringing against stone. Where was that coming from? The props were set up on either side of Leshy as he began his narration.
"The trees seemed to close in around you as a chill mist descended. In the distance, you could hear the clinking of metal on stone. A hobbled figure stood in your path."
Leshy raised a carved mask to his face, a familiar etching of one of his subordinates.
"Heeee-hawh! 'twas the Prospector!" Leshy called, doing a surprisingly good impression of the man Luke met outside the cabin. With that, cards were shuffled, and the game began.
Luke found himself lucky to know the gimmick of the prospector, sorting his hand to save his best cards for the second half of the battle. His plan currently was just to take care of that coyote, which wasn't an issue with the stoat Luke drew. He was also able to play a raven egg on the pack mule's spot, something that quickly became invaluable to him.
The round went off without a hitch, Luke finding himself with a Raven and a stoat ready to attack the next turn, the stoat taking out the coyote easily. Since Leshy was just playing a mole man on his next turn, Luke took a squirrel, and, using the undying sigil on his stoat, played a wolf.
Might as well get this first round out of the way easily.
He watched the scale tip all the way over, Leshy giving a nod and removing the teeth.
"Thar's gold in them cards!" Leshy called out, switching all of Luke's side of the field for the gold nuggets. Luke grit his teeth - he knew this was coming, but he still felt himself getting nervous and impatient at his complete inability to play. He reached for his deck, needing a bit of luck for his plan to-
The game was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the cabin door swinging open, crashing against the cabinet and rattling the old safe with an awful cracking sound of breaking wood. Leshy and Luke both looked over in alarm, Luke dropping his cards all over the table.
There Grimora stood, her hair partially falling out of the hat she wore, clearly offset by wind or.. actually, from the looks of it, she ran here. Her long, old-fashioned dress was caked in mud at the ends, her face was flushed over, and her hand quivered on the doorframe from, well, probably adrenaline. Overall, the older woman appeared frazzled
"Leshy! I need you to-" She cut herself off, taking a moment to realize he was, well, clearly in the middle of a game.
Confusion washed over Grimora's expression, and she began looking around the cabin. The setup for the prospector battle, the cards across the table, until her eyes locked on Luke.
The moment they made eye contact, Grimoras face dropped in.. shock? It was a reaction Luke wasn't quite sure how to read, simply because Grimora was quick to glance away and clear her throat.
"Need me to what?" Leshy responded, taking off his mask and setting it aside, his tone turning a bit monotone and bored. It wasn't something Luke was used to, Leshy was always very expressive in his storytelling.
"I need you to come with me, we need to speak, all four of us." She glanced at Luke again, but didn't allow her eyes to linger. "Clearly, something is wrong in this situation."
Leshy, though he seemed indifferent to the situation at hand on the outside, sighed and got up from his table. "Alright, as long as we can do it somewhere that's not P-03's factory. I'm not quite comfortable with that place considering... recent events."
"And I'm sure they'd say the same about your cabin." She remarked, before glancing once again at Luke.
"You may come, if you'd like."
Luke nodded wordlessly, standing up from the table and moving to follow Leshy out of the cabin.
Once outside, Luke glanced up, noticing the sun starting to rise in the background.
Well, guess one thing made sense in the world right now. The sun always came back up.
And hopefully, this meeting could help him make sense of the rest.

Hello Inscryption fans it's me, an Inscryption fan!!
This fandom is still pretty new, but uh
Stupid writers gotta be stupid writers, so i have something for you all! Its the first part/chapter of a fic!
It's an AU, but real quick we just gonna say the entire games gonna be spoiled here, so if you haven't finished Inscryption, please do so before reading this.
Also might post this on a03 if y'all like it? I know my own follower base is p small but hey, uh, why not? Also, for those of you on computers, I'm sorry if the formatting is wack, I'm on mobile.
Also I'm calling this AU playtester AU for a reason you will all see later.
Currently tw for: swearing
Okay!! I'll stop rambling, here's the fic!
Next
[Recovery process initiated]
Luke's head had never hurt this bad before. He could probably count the number of major injuries he had in his life on one hand, so there wasn't much competition, but this was definitely the worst pain he'd ever been in.
The pressure seemed to push on his eyes, somehow, like the aching pain bouncing around his skull was pushing out everything in its way of escape. He put the palm of his hands against his eyes, rubbing until the pain behind them dissipated enough to put his hand on his forehead, blinking away the static-like spots that clouded his vision, his headache fading slowly.
Which, unfortunately, brought Luke to another question - where the fuck was he? As his eyes adjusted to the low light, he could tell there were trees around him, though it wasn't a part of the forest he was familiar with. They seemed to have a pattern, a subtle rhythm to the woods that only fueled his headache. Worse than that, though, was the darkness, stretching around him.
Luke staggered to his feet, hoping to see his beloved camera around him - no dice. He was quick to turn to his pockets, but found them empty. Letting out a heavy sigh, he muttered to dead air "great, well this is just incredible. Guess I'm going to run into a bear out here and die or something."
His words, of course, garnered no response, but with enough talking to a camera, that's something you get used to. Without any idea where he was going, Luke set off, trying to search his scraps of memory to figure out how the hell he could have gotten this deep into the woods.
It had been last night he had finished Inscryption the game, watching the game files delete them in front of his face. He expected most people would call bullshit, but he had the entire thing recorded on his camera. Luke had every intention on putting the entire playthrough everywhere, as well as suing the hell out of GameFuna. There was something wrong with that game, sure, but knocking on his door day after day? Breaking into his house? What the hell kind of company does that, on top of having a game that openly controlled your computer?!? He would make sure it all went public, and..
Luke was startled out of his thoughts by the loud cracking of a stick breaking under his shoes. His head snapped upwards, and he could see the clear outline of a path in the woods. It stretched out quite far, but at the end, he could see the light shining from a small cabin. Finally, some hint of civilization, took long enough. Luke was just about ready to put a call into the police department, get home, and get something done to these fucking people at GameFuna.
The trail stretched much longer than it originally looked as he walked it, the creatures of the forest buzzing and calling in the night. The sounds felt familiar and safe, and Luke found the melody of the forest soothing him as he tried to offset the strange, building feeling that he'd seen this cabin somewhere before. And yet, the more he stared, the more Luke knew he'd never been to this part of the woods, and he'd never faced a cabin such as this himself. At least, outside of horror movies and games, it was quite stereotypical looking in that sense.
Finally, after what seemed to be far too long, he reached the front of the cabin. To the left, he could see a small river trickling through the land, a stone bridge reaching over. To the right, he could see a path leading to a lake, the moon reflecting off the watery surface.
The cabin itself wasn't much to look at, worn down wood stretching around the exterior, with old fashioned curtains blocking his view of the inside. A chimney reached into the sky, nothing billowing out of it. The door was as old and wooden as the rest of the cabin, and he worried that knocking itself might damage the old thing. However, Luke's desire to go home was greater than that of preserving an old door, so he reached his hand up to knock anyways.
...
No one replied. After a couple of seconds, he tried again, calling, "hello?" Into the night. Once again, no one responded.
Luke sighed. "Oh, shit.. come on, someone answer the door." He growled at no one, trying once again to knock. No reply to his knocks came, though. And after a few minutes, Luke knew that for the time being, at least, he was stuck out here.
"Might as well make the most of it." He muttered to dead air, heading to the small stream on the left, wondering if there could possibly be anything worth checking out in the area. However, he didn't get far before a loud growl froze him in place.
To his right, a mangy mutt glared at Luke, teeth bared. It's growl was low, full of anger and intent. Without a doubt, this thing could tear Luke apart.
"Now, now puppy.." he didn't appreciate how his voice shook, stepping backwards. "It's okay,, I'm not here to hurt you, hey.." His words only caused the hound to let out an ear splitting, guttural bark, Luke defensively raising his arms to block an attack.
"Damn gunnit you old mutt, down!" A voice called, a thud sounding not far from Luke's feet. Opening one eye, he could see the dog was now contently munching on a bone, an angry looking man with a pickaxe storming towards the pair. Luke stepped back, taking a bit of a defensive stance as this man carried something that could definitely split Luke's head open, despite the man's smaller stature.
"Now, what are ye doin' here?" The other man raised the butt his pickaxe to Luke's face. "Ye don't look like a challenger!"
Oh, this was probably the cabin owner.. that made more sense. Luke let out a small sign of relief.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to trespass, I'm just lost. Would you happen to have a phone I could use to call for some help?"
He shook his head with a chuckle. "This place ain't mine, but If I were ye, I wouldn't rely on Leshy bein' awake! Sleeps like a rock!"
Luke felt his heart skip a beat, trying to rationalize what he'd just heard. It was probably nothing, he had to be logical.
"Well, uh, do you happen to have a phone, or know a way into the cabin."
"Oh, door's unlocked!" The man replied with a chuckle. "Jus walk right in, he won't mind!"
Luke nodded. Though breaking and entering wasn't a personal passtime of his, guess you've gotta adopt new hobbies every now and again.
"I see, thank you." Luke tried to keep his tone even, despite his heart beating out of his chest. "I'll be doing that now."
The other man nodded. "If 'e complains, jus say the prospector let ya inside!" And with that, the prospector walked off.
That did not help Luke's heart rate.
The door creaked on old hinges as Luke quietly swung it open. The interior of the cabin wasn't well lit, and Luke found himself wishing once again he had woken up with a flashlight.
A small candlestick was by the door, only one candle on its two prongs lit. Luke took it in his hand, admittedly afraid of surveying the room. However, a grunting sound alerted him to the figure in the corner before he even had a chance to look around.
The candlestick slipped from Luke's fingers.
Staring back at Luke were two spiraling pupils, eyes incomplete and enticing at the same time. It felt like all time froze, Luke's feet glued in place as the candlestick fell to the floor with a loud clang, extinguishing itself.
Neither spoke for what felt like hours, until finally Luke found his voice once again.
"You aren't real." Was the only thing that came into his head. This couldn't be real, not in a million years. And yet, those familiar eyes stared back at him.
That seemed to get a laugh out of the old photographer, a bit of a broken one. "I'm quite real, as far as I'm concerned. Are you?"
Luke felt a weight on his chest seemingly lift, and he laughed. This situation was ridiculous, impossible, unfathomable. And yet, the eyes on him didn't waver, and didn't laugh along.
"I'm not sure anymore, honestly. Man, what the *fuck*?!" The answer was honest, a bit brutally so. Luke felt tears tugging at his eyes, his mind begging for a logical explanation to why he was facing a character he'd seen in the game he'd dug up in the ground, the game that took over his PC, the game that knew his name, the horrible, cursed disk.
Leshy didn't have a response to his laughter, rather, when Luke was done laughing, he spoke up with an invitation.
"Would you like to play a game?"
Luke wiped the tears forming at his eyes.
"You know, why the hell not?"

Playtester AU is finally back after I had to spend forever focusing on essays for school!! Yay!!
First | Previous | Next (coming soon!)
This chapter took so long, but chapter 6 will probably take longer and I'm not prepared wjdheksj. Big thanks to the Inscryption discord server for beta reading a chunk of this fic to help me find the problems lmao, hope it's improved guys!
Also! Luke's Siblings are mentioned in this chapter, for reference his family is based vaugly off my own! But I figure it's good to have them down so you know who I'm talking about :]
In order from oldest to youngest!
Luke - 21
Carter - 19
Jacob - 17
Alyssa - 15
Jack + Abagail (twins) - 12
I do want to give credit to @shiocreator for letting me use the name Carter! It was her idea, and I just loved it so much I had to include it. Also, if you haven't read their Carder Siblings AU, what are you even doing?
While we're here, I'm also going to tell you to read @lemonzone 's Cabinet Man AU, I literally love it so much! Stolen my entire brain smh.
I am so happy I've got to meet both of these people and read their writing, as well as everyone else on the server! Y'all are so amazing and kind and this story wouldn't be what it is without you.
Anyways, that's all I've gotta say, hope you enjoy this chapter!
"Luuuke!"
It was Christmas morning.
That was the first thing that came back to Luke, maybe out of habit, since that’s all he focused on when he was younger. Truthfully, he was still just a kid on the inside. Or, perhaps, it was because he was hoping for something great this year.
Or, maybe, he was just trying to remember why the crowd of his younger siblings were here to wake him up at only 7:00 in the morning.
"Wake up!" Carter repeatedly chanted, holding a rolled piece of paper to his mouth like a megaphone.
Jack and Abagail had no hesitation jumping on Luke’s bed, making him sit up rapidly with a laugh.
Jacob and Alyssa stood aside Carter, chuckling to themselves as the twins stole a hug from Luke.
"I'm up, I'm up!" Luke managed with a giggle, ruffling his younger sister's hair. "Jeeze, real early this year, huh? Have you guys woken up mom and dad yet?"
Jacob shook his head. "We were waiting for you, sleepyhead!" He teased.
Luke sighed dramatically, falling back onto his bed. "oh no! Guess we can't get up, I'm going back to sleep!" He closed his eyes, much to the dismay of the twins.
"Come on, Luke!" Jack huffed. "It's Christmas!!"
Luke peeked one eye open, before laughing.
"Alright, but next year I get to sleep in! I'm an old man, I need my beauty rest." He said, swinging his legs out of bed before picking Jack up and putting him on his shoulders.
"You're only 20," Alyssa commented with a chuckle, looking up from her phone with a grin.
"I know, and I'm already an old man, guess what you'll be going through in 6 years!" Luke replied, ruffling his younger sister’s hair.
Carter rolled his eyes, as he began to lead the group into the hallway.
Luke's mind drifted to Christmas itself as they walked to wake up their parents - he probably had a lot of card packs underneath the tree. His channel had just exploded last month, and well, for card pack opening channels, there was a constant need to have more card packs.
Still, there was one thing he was really hoping was waiting down there for him - the new Tengu party game. Being an online game, it was the perfect way for Luke to keep playing games with his siblings while he was away at college.
Welp, guess he'd just have to find out for himself, watching Abagail tear through their parent’s door.
"Wake up, it's Christmas!"
It was summer again.
Luke's family always went on a summer vacation, usually something small in idea, but their mom had a tendency to splurge for her kids.
This year, they were out at a lake in a rental house. It was large enough for the family of 8, they had enough space and then more.
Past midnight, most of the family was asleep, but Luke and Carter had snuck out to go sit by the lake.
"It really is beautiful," Carter commented, gazing out across the ripping water. The lake wasn't huge, but far large enough for the kids to enjoy.
Luke nodded. "It is.. I'm glad I got to come. When I was younger, I figured mom would stop inviting me to these things when I turned 18."
Carter chuckled. "Like mom would ever do that! We love you, and she already misses you enough since you left for college."
"Same can be said for you!" Luke grinned. "I've heard Alyssa talking about it, she said mom missed you more than me."
"Now that's just a lie." Carter giggled, shoving at his older brother, not enough for him to end up in the lake though. Luke couldn't help but laugh, staring back out at the rippling water in silence.
There was a good 5 or so minutes of quiet before Carter spoke up again.
"Hey Luke?"
"Hm?" Luke ruffled his brother’s hair.
"How do you do it? Living alone in a new town, especially so close to the woods like that. Aren't you scared?"
"Not really." Luke shrugged. "I've got a big gate outside the house, and the only thing in those woods is crickets and deer. Most people wouldn't bother coming up the driveway, past the gate, and to my door to bother me. Plus, I've been thinking about getting a dog."
Carter chuckled. "Oh my god, we would visit so much more often if you had a dog. Please get one."
"This time I get to name it! Thank god" Luke grinned. They had a family dog named Crackers, named by the twins when they were little.
"Well, obviously you would get to name it, it would be your dog." Carter rolled his eyes. "But Crackers is a good name if you’re not dramatic."
The brothers took a moment to laugh, before Carter paused, frowning in thought.
"Actually, I brought that up because.. I've been thinking of switching degrees. Maybe even schools."
Luke blinked. "Wait, really?" Carter had been interested in biology his entire life, ranting and raging about all the discoveries he could make in the field. He'd never gotten a chance to explore it much before college, but from his determination, Luke would never have guessed that Carter wouldn’t love it.
"Yeah, actually. Bio just doesn't stick out like it used to, and there's so much I've found that I'm just.. squeamish about."
"Well, what degree are you thinking of?"
Carter paused, before shyly suggesting, ".. game development?"
Luke's eyes lit up, realizing quickly what his brother was implying. "Wait, are you saying you'd be coming to my school?" He felt himself grinning.
"I-If you're okay with it!" Carter said quickly.
Luke hugged his brother. "Of course I'm okay with it, You can even come live with me! A lot cheaper than the dorms."
Carter grinned. "Yeah, I'd like that!"
Luke sighed, looking out on the waves.
"Guess we've got a lot to plan for."
Carter nodded.
"Yeah, we do."
Luke woke with a start, sitting up quickly, only to find himself buried under some rather scratchy blankets. A soft surprised noise came from his right, and glancing over, he noticed Lone watching over him.
Oh right, Luke was in the final game he ever played, the cursed thing. Oh yeah, he was dead too! He put a hand to his head, squeezing his eyes shut.
He'd never see his family again, he'd never get to finish college, he'd just drop off the face of the earth. God.. how could this have happened? He should have never dug up this cursed game, much less played it. It should have stayed in the dirt.
The feeling of someone touching his hair startled Luke out of his thoughts. Lone flinched back, with a startled "sorry!"
The wizard was quite small, eyeing Luke fearfully yet curiously. Poor thing probably just wanted some stimulation, he must not have been out of his horrible situation for long.
Luke sighed, reaching over to pat the wizard on his head, which he seemed to enjoy immensely. After maybe a minute, Luke chuckled, pulling his hand back.
"Why did ya stick around here, bud?" Luke asked, pushing the uncomfortable blankets off him, only to notice he was laying on more. Did Magnificus have anything good for other people in this god-forsaken tower?
"P03 and the other scrybes asked me to watch over you!" He chirped, bouncing in place.
Luke nodded. "I see.. I assume they're probably fighting over something else now."
Lone gave an overdramatic shrug, with a half yelled “I’unno!” He fidgeted with his hands a lot, which made Luke wonder if Lone would prefer something to hold and mess with. Did they have Rubick cubes here? That seemed like something the small wizard would enjoy, not even to solve, but to mess with. He’d have to find out, give Lone something to do.
"I'm.. going to go find them. I need an explanation." Luke muttered softly, as if assuring himself.
"I'LL COME WITH!" Lone practically yelled, jumping up and down. It was an excitability that honesty reminded Luke of the twins. He smiled softly and genuinely, before offering Lone his hand.
"Alright, bud, we'll go and find them together!"
Lone continued to bounce excitedly, taking Luke's hand as the two began looking around for the scrybes, though Luke could guess where they were by the sounds of argument coming from above.
Up the stairs, to the top of the tower.
They were fighting.
Luke didn't know what else he was expecting.
Magnificus and P03 were shouting at each other from opposite sides of the circular room, looking about ready to brawl. Leshy and Grimora stood near the back, avoiding Magnificus' canvases, and apparently the two other scrybes. No one had noticed Luke in the doorway yet.
“I do not think jumping to conclusions is the best source of action here,” Mangnificus muttered, his voice steady yet with an accusatory tone.
“Jumping to conclusions?!” P03 countered. “I think it’s pretty damn obvious. Unless you have found a way for us to move forward without a challenger.”
“Hmm, perhaps not, but I still believe it is not unimaginable that there is something we can do. Something that doesn’t have irreparable side effects, such as your last idea.” The scrybe of magicks seemed to glare across the room.
"And what plan do you have?" P03 asked Magnificus accusatorially with almost a growl, as much as a robot could conceivably growl. “I have already attempted to connect with the servers of wherever we are, and it’s all locked down. If you all hadn’t stopped the Great Transcendence, we could all be out of this mess already!”
“Your ‘Great Transcendence’ was nothing more than a power show.” The bush wizard bit back. “Its failure was inevitable, you effete contraption.”
“Wow, insults again? That really helps your case, you blundering wizard. If y-”
Luke's babysitter instincts kicked in before he really had a chance to think about it, stepping in the room to get in between the two.
"Alright, enough." He said firmly.
This was treated with a great deal of surprise from everyone around the room, the scrybes taking a step back. Had Luke really just done that? Well, no way back now.
"You fighting clearly didn't get you guys anywhere before, and it won't now. If you want anything productive to happen, you all need to work together. No more power grabs, or arguments, or sly planning behind the scenes." He took a deep breath, noticing Grimora nodding with a sly smile. "But, after all that, I need a fucking explanation. *Especially* from you." He pointed to Grimora, whose smile dropped.
Luke was shaking. This was a lot to process, and he was shaking. Did he just treat the scrybes like his little siblings?
P03 and Magnificus glared at each other, neither wanting to relent. However, Grimora stepped in before either could open their mouths to bitch back at their surprise babysitter.
"I agree with Luke.” She said, her voice calming and steady. “Now, will the both of you please come over here? Enough with this pointless argument."
That got a grumbled "fine" from the scrybes, muttering under their breath what Luke could only imagine were curses much older than he was. The scrybes mostly kept their distance from one another, but now stood in a manageable circle.
Luke sighed.. thank god that worked. He went to stand alongside the edge of the circle, by the door. Admittedly, he didn’t quite like being in the spotlight, at least in real life.
As he went to stand near the doorway he had entered through, Luke noticed a mischievous Lone had started climbing onto everything around him and had begun poking at the candles lighting up the tower. Luke would have to make sure he grabbed the small wizard on his way out, not trusting Magnificus to make sure Lone didn’t burn himself to a crisp.
Luke took a deep breath, returning his attention to the scrybes, who were seemingly looking to him to start this ‘peaceful’ meeting. He took a deep breath, readying himself before speaking up.
"Alright. Let's talk."

It's chapter 4 babey, not too long awaited and definitely something I'm excited to share!
I won't keep ya, get into it, feel free to yell in the comments!
First | Previous | Next
The four quickly headed out of the factory, Leshy looking as if the tech would jump out and bite him, which was quite amusing for P03. Grimora and Leshy stayed in front, chatting about cards as they walked, though Grimora world occasionally glance back at the two.
Luke walked at about the same pace P03 hovered, keeping his eyes on the ground, at least until the robot spoke.
"And why are you tagging along?" P03 asked with a smug face, it's tone implying Luke probably wasn't 'worthy' to walk with the scrybes, or something like that.
Luke shrugged. "I was invited to come along, and what else was I going to do? Sit in Leshy's cabin alone?"
P03 snickered. "Invited? What, by the insane duo at the front?"
Luke gave a nod. "yeeep. Got a problem with it?" He asked, trying to stop himself from letting a smile creep into his expression.
P03's display flicked, it's face now annoying, but it didn't respond.
Luke studied the robot for a second. For the entire time he played this game, P03 was incredibly self-centered. Why would it play along with Grimora? There had to be an ulterior motive, but what would P03 have to gain by coming? The whole situation boggled Luke's mind, for the short time he got to think about it.
It didn't take long for the group to reach the outer edges of Magnificus' domain, the air around them seeming to glow with a magical hint. The rocks on the ground shined and shimmered, though nothing was as bright as the factory reflected in the sunlight. The dirt under their feet was coarse, rocks and other things seeming to be uniformly mixed in.
The tower itself wasn't far away, though they had to cross a couple more bridges, much to Luke's dismay, though they soon approached the entrance to the tower itself. It loomed over the party, with what Luke would guess to be about 4 or 5 stories, all in worn brick. Moss and vines had taken over a large majority of the tower, which only enhanced the feeling of age. There were few windows, to be fair Magnificus didn't seem to be the type of person to longingly gaze out a window.
As Luke was looking the building up and down, a strange sort of crackling and whizzing noise came from beyond the main door. He pulled his gaze from the tower, staring at the door for only a moment before,
"HEY, LOOK OUT!"
A large stream of magic poured out of the door, Luke not even having a second to process it before something grabbed the back of his shirt, pulling him off his feet and away from the stream.
Luke felt his heart beating out of his chest, taking a moment to calm down before realizing his feet weren't on the ground. Glancing over, a very startled looking P03 held him up. Holy shit, P03 had just saved him, what the fuck.
Before Luke had time to process what just happened, P03's expression turned to anger, and it dropped Luke to the ground. P03 might as well have marched in the tower, yelling a loud, "You almost killed me, what the fuck was-" before cutting itself off
Luke got quickly to his feet, running inside to see what the hell had just happened.
P03 stood in front of Magnificus, who seemed quite pleased with the anger of his fellow scrybe. Beside Magnificus were his three students, the lonely wizard bouncing a bit in place.
"Good shot," Magnificus commented. "Try to hit them next time, though."
"Okay!! Thank you master Magnificus!" The small wizard commented, seeming quite excited with the praise.
There was silence in the room as the other two scrybes made their way inside, clear surprise on their faces.
"Is there something I can help you with?" Magnificus asked, examining the group that now stood on the bottom floor of his tower.
P03 looked annoyed. "Are we just getting no explanation for this??" It practically shouted, gesturing around the room.
"Is there one needed?" He asked, raising his eyebrows at P03.
"For once I do agree with it." Luke commented, looking around with confusion. "there's a lot here that doesn't quite add up."
Last Luke had seen, Magnificus' students were locked up in essentially torture chambers, unable to escape and in a lot of pain. And from everyone else's reactions, that was the last they had hurt of it either.
Magnificus sighed, seeming to realize that he had to explain. "I suppose Luke opened my eyes. He knew how to play his cards and used my wizards against your creations." He gave a slight glare to P03.
"And Lone was going to leave if you didn't." The pike wizard commentated.
Magnificus seemed to be annoyed at that being revealed. Luke secretly felt a bit liberated - Lone deserved freedom, and here he was. Well, and the fact that.. hey wait.
"Did you just say that I helped you see their worth? Wait, you were watching in act 3??"
The words escaped Luke's mouth as soon as he thought them, He was glad, of course, but surprised to hear that he helped free the magicians.
The four scrybes in the room stared at Luke. Leshy and Magnificus just looked confused, while P03 seemed shocked and Grimora appeared.. not just surprised, but also a bit happy?
P03 turned to Grimora, seeming exasperated.
"Grimora! You *inscrybed* Luke?? What the fuck?!"
"I didn't mean to!" She countered. "I didn't think he was dead! I was just going to make a momento of everything!"
"Well, kind of hard to miss the recovery process, I don't think he had the ability to do that on his own, do you??" It countered.
Grimora growled. "I still couldn't have known he was dead!"
"You knew fine well there was a possibility! You did it on purpose. Admit it Grimora."
Luke took a moment to step in. "I'm sorry, can we please go back to the part where someone said I was dead?"
Luke could barely keep his footing, his heart beating loudly in his ringing ears. He held a hand to his head, trying to process anything that had just been said.
"Oh, and you didn't even tell him he was dead, just lovely! Grimora, I can't believe-"
Luke couldn't hear any more of what was being said. His vision was blurring at its edges, and he felt his entire body collapsing under him. The last thing he could remember was Lone cry out in alarm as his knees buckled
He just needed a few minutes

Could Luke use his cellphone to stream inside the game to the real world?
The girl that killed him would be problaby like: didn't i kill this bitch?
This is actually addressed in chapter 1! Luke distinctly doesn't have anything on him from the real world, the first thing he checked for was his camera (like he ever lets go of it)
That would be so funny, though he would definitely use it to film card pack opening videos with the scrybes like they're celebraties.
Opening packs with the scrybe of technology?? (Not clickbait) (it PUNCHED me???)
Gamefuna is very scared of this man, and should be.
Also, the "I lived bitch" and it's just Luke and P03 (credit to the discord for this joke fr akdhekdbsb)

the old data better not be just "oh its some cards hitler had in his pocket"
Heh, I am assuming this is referring to playtester (sorry if it's not) but if so I can garentee to you now that isn't the case!
I know it's in the A03 tags and I think? I've mentioned it here but I'm throwing all of the ARG out the window aside from a few small headcanons you'll see come up in chapters soon.
But I have it at least mostly planned out! The Old_data is mine to fuck with...

Playtester AU Chapter 6 real??
Hahaha maybe
God this Chapter took me 10 years I'm so sorry y'all, lmao. But, on the upside, playtester's plot is now a lot more fleshed out, with some free headcanons from the server
Also, big thanks to the Inscryption community discord once again for your help, and specifically @futuremercy , You were such an incredible help! This story wouldn't be what is it without everyone there.
First | Previous | Next (coming soon)
"First things first." He started, trying to ignore the eyes that felt like they were burning into him as he glanced around the circle of scrybes. "This fighting, the bickering, it's helping none of you." He tried to gauge everyone’s reactions, but most of the Scrybes kept a steady expression of indifference. "If the thing keeping you all here is this old, evil data, surely it would be easier to handle if you... worked together?"
The room fell silent, A sense of judgment and disappointment crawling on Luke’s back as the scrybes simply stared at him. Yeah, that uh.. wasn't a good opener.
"Okay, okay, that was stupid and obvious." He put a hand to the bridge of his nose, squeezing his eyes shut to try and ignore the developing headache he had. "And I'm assuming you've tried it before."
"Duh." P-03's expression was bored, before switching to smug as it spoke, "Look, if this meeting is going to have nothing of worth, then-"
"Wait," Grimora spoke, her voice even but kind. "I'd like to hear Luke out, P-03."
Ah, a second chance granted! It seemed annoyed, before it’s expression flicked back to indifference.
"Fine."
Luke took a deep breath, exhaling with a light hum.
"Well, maybe since I'm not an established character in this game, I could try and investigate the old_data." He suggested. "I mean, you're all tied to the code of this game, maybe that's not allowing you to dig as deep as you'd like. If I could investigate without its influence, I could probably find more than you. Any information would be helpful right?"
Silence once again dominated the room, the scrybes looking between one another. This time, however, their expressions teemed with concern.
"Luke, I don't believe that would be a good idea, we truly have no idea what it could do to you." Grimora started.
Leshy gave a nod of agreement, however, Magnificus spoke up before Grimora could speak again.
"I have a sense that you will dig into the matter regardless of our comments."
Luke felt a smile tug at his lips. Magnificus was right.
"If I'm going to be stuck here, I want to do at least something to pass the time, and well, possibly have a chance of getting this game off this floppy safely. However, it would be easier for me to investigate if you all cooperated, at least for the time being. Meaning, at the very least, no takeovers."
"We can't do a takeover without a challenger, anyways." P03 beeped. Upon seeing Luke's confusion, it sneered. "Oh, did you think we stayed as playthings in Leshy's game for so long willingly?"
"No, I suppose not," Luke muttered. "But if I'm going to be stuck here for the next.. forever, I don't want to get involved in your neverending quarrel."
The scrybes nodded, even if they wouldn't get along with each other, they could keep Luke out of it. He took a heavy sigh as they began to mutter amongst themselves a small bit, mostly seeming concerned or tired.
"I… did have one more thing I wanted to bring up."
This returned the attention of the scrybes to Luke, and he couldn't help but be a little startled that these practically eldritch beings snapped their attention back to him so quickly. He stepped back, clearing his throat before speaking again.
"If the game has been restored, it's been restored by someone, right? That means it's possible we could have another Challenger soon."
"It is possible," Leshy remarked.
"Great, another excuse to start the Great Transcendence," P03 commented, everyone turning to glare at it.
"That was a joke, I was joking-" it raised its arm in the air in defeat. Perhaps it didn’t want to lose its head again so soon.
Magnificus sighed  "I suppose it is possible, were you were thinking one of us would attempt a takeover?"
"No, no, not that!" Luke said. "I already covered that. I was more wondering what I would do if a challenger came."
"You could try and stay out of sight," Leshy suggested.
"If the next Challenger is anywhere as nosy as you were, that probably won't work," P-03 commented, expression annoyed. Luke tried not to chuckle - what can he say, he did enjoy finding secrets.
"You could stay and be one of our subordinates," Grimora said with a chuckle. "You'd make a good ghost!"
Luke shivered at the reminder that he was, well, dead. It wasn't something he wanted to think about. "I'm not exactly psyched on that one."
"I suppose you could play a role like Rebecha." Magnificus offered.
Luke hummed.. "yeah, actually, that would be pretty neat. We don't know if the bridge would even be broken when a player got here, so they would need a buffer.. hell, I could fight them!" He perked up at the idea. "Yeah, yeah, that would be cool!"
"Then I suppose it's decided," Grimora said. "If a challenger enters, that is your role."
Luke smiled, before suddenly, a thought popped into his head.
"Actually, I had a decent sized following in the real world. I suppose we should have an excuse as to why someone with my name was in this game. Like, how Kaycee's dialogue explains she was a developer."
There was a hum of thinking around the room, before P-03 spoke up, "I suppose we could count you as a playtester. I mean, you DID set up an entire store for me, tested all the mechanics, all of that." It's expression was smug.
Right, the whole stupid idiot gamer thing.. Luke sighed. Guess the game was prepared to go up at any time if those pictures and such did save, but even so, the title of playtester did sound cool.
"I think that sounds good." He gave a smile.
P-03 seemed a bit surprised, then smug again. “I know.”
"Alright, then I suppose it's settled,” Grimora spoke, stepping forward. “Then this is an official welcome, The Playtester, Luke Carder."
She offered her hand in a handshake, giving Luke a warm smile.
He took it.
