I think the difference between the effect of "invasive aliens" and humans on their environment is probably how willing they are do either adapt, or to destroy their surroundings.

But.. biology was not how degree or focus. If anything, the adult was mostly just trying to piece together why one of his students was just.. or rather just brought a bug into the halls.

Then it clicked.

"Is this.. one of those Me-Me's that you students go crazy over?" The professor was not very much of an online surfer so to say. He preferred physical books. But these kids with their phones...

"As, enthusiastic as you are, Mister Hashibira, the inside of the Academy is no place for your little.. er.. friend. Perhaps take him back outside where he belongs? Don't need Sanemi-san getting wind of you breaking yet another rule?" The poor critter would unlikely survive such an encounter.

Part one:  Introducing the newest member of the Rake clan. Making his debut (outside of mumma’s tummy 😉) in Invictus.

Tasman Slater Rake.  The final baby for Tyler and Esme.   

How he got his name:  Tyler picked it!  He and Esme enjoy spending alone time in Tasmania, at a place right by the Tasman sea.   On their last trip there in Never Gonna Be Alone, he brought up the name Tasman, paired with Slater (after his favourite surfer and childhood idol, Kelly Slater) and Esme agreed to it.

Where, how,  and when he was born:  A medication free water birth at a hospital Cooktown, Queensland, Australia on September 11th.   He weighed eight pounds, twelve ounces, and was twenty inches long. 

Temperament:   In Invictus, Tasman is three years old and a pure joy.   He’s energetic and playful,  loves to give and accept affection, and laughs A LOT.   He’s mild mannered and a great problem solver and very rarely loses his temper.  He loves to dance and dig and play in the sand and is very at home in the water.   He’s never meant an animal, insect, or reptile he doesn’t like, much to his mum’s horror 😉.  He loves to rough house with his brothers and tries to keep up with them despite them being quite a bit older and bigger than he is. At this point, Takota is 7,  Declan is 11, and Tanner and TJ are 13!  He also doesn’t mind playing with his sisters, although Addie can be a ‘bossy boots’ and views him as HER baby. She had told Tyler she wanted a baby brother or sister for her sixth birthday, not knowing her mum was already pregnant and has forever though that Tazzie as she calls him, was her birthday present lol

As far as his parents are concerned, Tasman...or Taz as Tyler calls him...is a miracle and a true blessing.  In Never Gonna Be Alone, he survived Esme’s kidnapping and subsequent abuse at the hands of Mark and his people.  She did whatever she had to (including playing Mark at his own game) to keep the baby alive.   And he continued to thrive inside of her and was born healthy :) Tasman quite enjoys having his mum and dad to himself when his siblings are at school.  He gets to go on a lot of adventures!

File this one under "Museum Pieces." Once upon a time when vinyl records were the musical currency, music, and audiofile magazines wanted to find ways to provide readers a sort of audio supplement to go along with the visual experience their publication provided. So the "flexi-disc" was invented. What is a flexi-disc? Wikipedia defines it this way:

The flexi disc  is a phonograph record made of a thin, flexible vinyl sheet with a molded-in spiral stylus groove, and is designed to be playable on a normal phonograph turntable.

And they worked, too. My favorites were a series of 27 titles to be found in subscriber-only issues of Trouser Press magazine, debuting in issue #69, dated January 1982. Adam Ant was the cover boy, and the first disc was by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark. They're collectibles now, and, who knows? With the resurgence of vinyl, who's to say we won't one day see the flexi-disc return? Assuming, of course, that there are any magazines left in which to put them.

The Fantastic Four

Reed Richards- A young entrepreneur who made a fortune on multiple patents allowing him to indulge in many scientific curiosities. He holds degrees in multiple fields of science. The press has dubbed him Mr. Fantastic. After the accident he gains the ability to stretch his body to incredible lengths Susan Richards- An expert computer programmer and hacker she’s able to sneak into any network. Her programming software is used in all of the FF’s hardware. The accident gave her the power to create invisible force fields as well as cloak herself and others from sight. She calls herself the Invisible Woman as a result. Johnny Storm- A stuntman and experienced pyrotechnics expert he lives to chase the thrill. When his sister invited him on the trip he leaped at the chance. The accident gave him the ability to create intense heat and cover himself in flames. He declared that he was the Human Torch from now on. Ben Grimm- A test pilot who went to college with Reed and has kept in touch ever since. He volunteered to pilot the test flight but suggested that Reed either address the shielding or postpone until the storm passed. The accident mutated him into a rock covered Thing giving him increased stamina and strength. Before battle he recites the motto of the Yancy Street Gang “It’s Clobbering Time!”

Reed Richards creates a spaceship in the hopes of making spaceflight available to the public however during the test flight a cosmic storm strikes the earth. The cosmic radiation mutates Reed, his wife Susan, her brother Johnny, and the pilot Ben giving them strange powers. However they were not the only ones effected. Bolts of cosmic power strike all across the world (setting up future heroes and villains). One such bolt strikes a mountain sending cosmic radiation throughout it. A man named Harvey Elder was mining in the mountain when the bolt hit causing a cave in. However the energy mutated him and the life within the soil around him. He became the Mole Man and commanded an army of mutated worms, insects, and moles to do his evil bidding. Fighting him was the first test of the Fantastic Four!

rue grew up in 𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕥𝕝𝕖 𝕓𝕒𝕪 🌊  on the coast of sydney where she learned to surf, swim and scuba dive like many kids her age.

she was always in the garden at her childhood home, tending to the flowers and fruit trees they had, even some of the succulents that grew natively. she would 𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕗𝕝𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕤 💐  as she gardened.

despite being much more of an outdoor person, and very athletic, rue studied a lot of artistic and musical subjects, but did favour history and still loves historical fiction. it’s her favourite genre of film, television and books.

she tries to read one book per week and usually does manage it.

ever since she was a little girl she has felt a bit like 𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕔𝕖 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕔𝕖 𝕚𝕟 𝕨𝕠𝕟𝕕𝕖𝕣𝕝𝕒𝕟𝕕: singing and talking to flowers, imagining they can hear her.

with her head in the clouds ☁️  rue has also always been a bit emotional and was often called a 𝕔𝕣𝕪 𝕓𝕒𝕓𝕪, but in the last few years she had embraced her emotive side without (too much) shame.

when she is sad or feeling lost she goes out into the garden or a place filled with flowers and it makes her feel more calm and like she belongs. sometimes it feels like they are literally sending and transmitting 𝕘𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕧𝕚𝕓𝕖𝕤 to her.

shortly after puberty she noticed that 𝕓𝕦𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕗𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕤 🦋  & 𝕙𝕠𝕟𝕖𝕪 𝕓𝕖𝕖𝕤 🐝  and even 𝕒𝕦𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕒𝕟 𝕙𝕠𝕟𝕖𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕓𝕚𝕣𝕕𝕤 would land around her, and on her, but never sting or harm her. this still happens to this day, she is used to it and adores the butterflies above all others.

she hand makes potpourri. growing, harvesting and drying out the flowers herself and sells it at the agora market along with soy candles and woven natural bracelets, anklets and even necklaces. rue keeps a lot of flowers around her home and space.

rue has been on magnetic island for 𝕥𝕙𝕣𝕖𝕖 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕒 𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕗 𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤, originally moving with her high-school boyfriend. until he left her for someone else and moved back to sydney. she chose to stay, almost unable to leave.

she studied and recently completed a 𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕝𝕠𝕣 𝕠𝕗 𝕒𝕘𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕦𝕝𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕖 and is working, saving towards opening her own 𝕘𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕟𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕤𝕖 🪴  with a focus on floral plants and herbal plants, such as aloe vera.
