Spontaneous earworm ...
The other day, a tune got stuck in my head, and I could not place it. It was rattlin' round up there for a couple of hours, as I tried singing recently-heard lyrics to it, but none of them fit.
Finally, as I was eating dinner, it click that it was "Colors of the Wind" from Disney's Pocahontas.
I think I may have heard that song once, like 3 months ago. So why did it pop up, now?

Don't ask me about how this is supposed to make sense because I don't know either, but I just would like to inform people that I consider my self-reflected personality in my head to be somewhere on this line

Sometimes, it’s not him.
Sometimes, you’re in a car with a beautiful boy and his smile makes you feel weak
You give him the aux and he shows you a song you’ve never heard
You’re driving with the windows down and you hear him gently singing along in the passenger seat
He puts his hand through the back of your hair and for a moment you remember what it feels like to be cared for
But you know he doesn’t love you
And you know you don’t love him
Sometimes, you know these moments are fleeting and you wish on the shooting star you both saw but pretended you didn’t that the night would go on forever
Because you know it’s not him
You know that this is just for now.
Just for tonight.
Just for the length of this song you’ll listen to on repeat for the next 3 weeks, wondering if any part of it reminds him of you
Sometimes, you’re in the car with a beautiful boy and the next time you look at your empty passenger seat you’ll feel a little empty, too.
But years from now when you’re looking back on your life,
Old and gray and tired
You’ll remember the beautiful boy
and that one song…
Not quite sure how it goes
You’ll remember his hand and the way you felt for that 2 minutes and 44 seconds
And you’ll be glad you had it
Grateful that you got to feel it
Even just for that moment.
