The perbip is a rare example of a species native to Promethea that survived its conversion into a city-planet... sort of. Once a feathered mammalian living in the retinal arid shrublands of the planet, surviving thanks to its agility (look at those jumping legs!) and whip-like tail, it has become a timid, domesticated pet due to its "cute" traits and Atlas' profit hungry biotech division working overtime.
or, I saw a jerboa and immediately thought "what a Borderlands ass creature"

inspired by that one post where they turned HK characters into Ultrakill ones
I have so many ideas for this.
Notes taken from the photos
Moon -
Crescent moon inspired sickle (could also sport a scythe)
Singularity bomb (could reload right through arm)
Pebble -
jerboa..
claw blades
Moon is a lot more heavy built and able to withstand hard damage, able to land strong hits
While Pebbles is slimmer and can take less damage, but is much speedier than Moon.

So it's pretty much confirmed that PNF-404 from Pikmin is Earth in the distant future. Any thoughts on what the native creature enemies are descended from? I hc Bulborbs as some kind of derived gastropod that convergently evolved a pair of vertebrate-like legs (since the Bulborb Larva is legless), and the Pikmin themselves as a composite organism between a highly-specialized social insect and a Cordyceps-like plant that, rather than being parasitic is instead mutualistic.
Most of the creatures aren’t too different from their inspiration so it’s pretty easy to tell what they are. The grubs and beetles are grubs and beetles, the clamclamps are clams, the wollywogs are frogs, the mites are mites, etc.
Others are just completely out there and impossible to truly tell what they are. Like the wraiths, mamuta, honeywisps, and the Longlegs and Gatling groink. The last two honestly feel like leftover biotechnology.
Some we’re actually told what they’re descended from or related to, which is also usually believable. So like the Hermit Crawmads being hermit crabs or the skitterleaf being a water strider.
The “Scarpanid” family I’d hesitantly call beetles.
The Goolix is just a giant amoeba, which isn’t too out there considering there are plenty of giant unicellular organisms IRL (algae, seaweed, slime molds getting ready to reproduce, Xenophyophores, etc).
Snagrets are likely very strange birds. They could be descended from any number of burrowing birds or even passerines, which make up 60% of all birds and owe their success partly to a genetic code that is predisposed towards speciation.
Blowhogs I’ve always been unsure of but the tusked blowhog in 4 indicates that they’re possibly pigs. While the tusked blowhog isn’t a true blowhog it could be a primitive close relative that lies just outside of true blowhogs. I think Porquillion could also be related.
Vehemoth seems like a weird aerial salamander.
The meerslug is probably descended from a fish of some kind. One that burrows.
Dweevils I’m not entirely sure on.
There’s so many pikmin enemies that I’d be here all day covering them so I’m just skipping to the Bulborbs.
I’ve mentioned that I love @just9art’s slugborb theory even if it had to handwave that breadbugs are canonically not too closely related to grubdogs. I also just love the artwork and am so sad that their renditions of the grubdogs are not real animals I can hold. However, Bulborbs and breadbugs are so nondescript that people have purposed that they’re possibly terrestrial mud skippers or anglers (specifically ones like handfish) and they all work. Some people think they’re frogs, and @aphid-kirby covered it in a series of YouTube videos. https://m.youtube.com/@fictionalbiology1921/featured
As for pikmin, I do think a lot of the mobile plants form a family, which includes pikmin. But pikmin themselves are very weird (from here on is spoilers for PIKMIN 4).
Pikmin seem to be composite organisms, but apparently they can also force horizontal gene transfer onto other organisms as seen in the bad end for pikmin 1. This is also a main plot point for the fourth game as the main antagonist is actually Olimar being pikminized. All of this means that pikmin might not even be a species in a traditional sense.
Speaking of spoilers for 4, the final boss is a giant dog like Oatchi and is heavily implied to be a feral version of the ancestor of Oatchi’s kind. Meaning that they might actually be earth canines. However, the various spacemen of the games are also said to have had these canine companions for a long time, which could also mean that Olimar and co aren’t actually aliens, but descendants of humans who took dogs with them to space. While they evolved to be tiny (just barely big enough for their inner ears to still work), they selectively bred their dogs to be like jerboas. Humanity has been away from home for so long they don’t even remember it.

by the way, anyone is free to make a churill character / sona for fun if they want.. just be aware that they don't have much lore right now so if you care about being 'canon compliant' you might want to hold off on character lore unless you're ok with the possibility of having to change it later.
but you don't have to stick to canon either you can have fun with it. you can make a sparkle-churill or a churill with modern human looking clothes or wacky mutations you can do whatever style wise lol. i just wanted to put that out there since folks seem to be enjoying them so far
if you just want to make a critter that looks like a churill but isn't one, i recommend looking at pictures of jerboas and springhares for some additional inspiration. you're free to make stuff heavily inspired off of my art as long as it isnt straight up theft or anything

My silly little guys!! Shown here are Northern (top) Eastern (Bottom Left) and Southwestern (Bottom Right) They're silly weird critters that inhabit an alien planet! They originally used to be weird looking cat monkeys in 2020-2022 but I revamped and have been working on them for a good while! They now take inspiration from whales, Frogs, and Jerboas funny enough.
Update: 8/19 outdated
The Arca are a sapient bipedal species of their smaller Aquatic ancestors. It is one of the species from family Aifor’allum (meaning “Neck hole”) They are excellent swimmers, known best to live together in groups and live within populated communities.
*these are all the male variants though females aren't too different*
Tumblr media
*Kinda outdated art "whiskers" aren't white anymore and paddle tail is larger*
I still like the look of this northern so I'll slap it hereeeee

Greetings from Finland! (Or I suppose it could be considered Eastern Skyrim) What are some of the spices or ingredients that could be used in food making from each race? I plan to make up a recipe of my own. And how about most famous meats for every race? (And possibly their real life counterparts for some of the meats?) Best wishes, thank you!
Hello! You can find a list of commonly used Tamrielic spices here. With regards to meats, there are a range of different meats preferred by the races based on geographic regions and subsequent availability.
Altmer
Summerset favours fish over most other meats, but the High Elves also farm a range of more common mainland Tamrielic livestock such as cows, chickens, sheep, and deer. However, indrik heart is the most prized of all meats, and is highly sought after due to the illegality and difficulty of killing these magnificent beasts. The preparation and consumption of indrik heart is purportedly painstaking, and is a closely guarded secret of Altmeri gourmets. It is my goal to one day try this coveted dish!
Argonians
Guar, bantam guar, and chickens are the main meats favoured by Black Marsh Argonians, primarily due to their ability to cope with swampy conditions. Grilling, baking, and frying are the most common ways of preparing these meats, whether they're served on their own, with noodles or saltrice, or salads.
Bosmer
If it's meat, the Bosmer will eat it. Whether it's wild boar, deer, timber mammoth, or even monkey, all game is fair game in Valenwood! Timber mammoth steak with blue timber mammoth cheese sauce is one of my favourite foods in Tamriel.
Bretons
If there's one race who's mad about mutton, it's the Bretons. While High Rock is also known for its pork dishes, today I'm focusing on all things mutton. Mutton stew, mutton chops, mutton casserole, and even Orcish-inspired mutton curry are favourites both at home and in taverns. One of the more popular ways of consuming the meat is a mutton and rosemary sausage, that is served fried with eggs, goat cheese, and roasted artichoke hearts.
Dunmer
Aside from guar, the Dark Elves love nix-hound and nix-ox in equal amounts, with the former being more akin to crocodile or turkey in texture, while nix-ox is named such due to its uncanny similarity to beef in flavour (though not in texture). As they are bugs, however, you're not going to get thick steaks or drumsticks as you would from other animals. Instead, nix-ox and -hound are best served minced or stewed. A staple dish in Dunmeri households is nix-hound casserole, made with finely minced and baked nix-hound with saltrice, hackle-lo or ash yams, and scuttle.
Imperials
Imperials love beef the same way that Bretons love mutton. However, the most unique and exciting beef you can find in Tamriel is Cyrodiilic wagyu, a special kind of fatty, marbled beef that is exquisite as it simply melts in the mouth with a rich, meaty flavour. Whether it's served as tender filet mignon or thinly sliced as carpaccio, Cyrodiilic wagyu beef is an expensive but absolutely divine treat.
Khajiit
There are many exotic meats that are native to Elsweyr, and jerboa is probably the most popular. These small (and unfortunately very cute) rodents are delicious when deep fried or roasted in moon sugar sauce, though their small size means you'll have to eat a few to fill up. If you don't mind picking bones from your teeth, jerboa is a must-try for adventurous foodies.
Nords
Beef, chicken, elk, goat, horker, rabbit...in Skyrim, if it moves, we're probably eating it. However, the consumption of specific types of meat, and whether it's processed or fresh, really depends on where you are in the Province. Major towns and cities are more likely to eat fresh farmed meats like poultry, mutton, and beef, while rural areas rely more on wild game. Whether it's Markarth barbequed goat skewers or Dawnstar horker casserole, there's a whole new world of regional dishes out there for meat lovers visiting Skyrim.
Orcs
Echatere, chub loon, horker, and mammoth are the cornerstones of Orcish cuisine, and they're enjoyed in abundance. Wrothgarian Orcs in particular love their echatere, which are lovingly hand-reared or hunted in the wild. Either way, it's delicious, albeit with a rather acquired taste and gamey aroma. Echatere meatballs topped with crispy chub loon bits and an echatere cheese and frost mirriam gravy are a timeless classic hailing from the region.
Redguards
If goats were ever to become an endangered species, the last place they would disappear would be Hammerfell. Anyone who's visited the Alik'r will know that despite the sandy, Oblivion-hot depths of the desert, these hardy creatures will survive just about anything. As a result, goat meat plays a central part in Redguard cooking. Goat koftas, kebabs, shawarma, curries...no matter what form it's in, you're bound to have a tasty, meaty meal no matter where you are in Hammerfell.

... hyper fixation went BRRR again
So I caved and made a The Amazing Digital Circus (by @gooseworx) OC
(before anyone asks yes I took a lot of inspiration from Coraline ok? Ok.)
Anyways meet Jeronimo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Extra/bonus info about her under the cut bc I don't want this post to be too long
Yes her name is taken from Jerboa (the animal I based her off of) and Geronimo
Her nickname is "Momo" tho (bc i HC that some of the others called Kaufmo "Mo" pre abstracted... And since Jeronimo came after Kaufmo everyone just added another "Mo" to her name to not confuse them verbally)
Momo, like I mentioned before, a Jerboa and a hand stitched doll.
... because of the doll obviously she has button eyes (her nose is a button too btw) but her mouth is sewn shut
^ she is mute (but somehow can still magically eat, no one has a single clue how that works btw)
Her eyes (like Ragatha's button eye) does not shut or move, though Momo can see... It's just impossible to tell where and if she's looking at all unless she moves her head to physically look
^ and yes it's also hard to tell if she's asleep or not (Jax has failed trying to prank her multiple times because he thought she was asleep when she wasn't, making her accidentally scare tf outta him lmfao)
She does have painted on eyelashes under her button eyes though for some reason... They're just kinda there 🤷
Her hair (on head and tail) are made out of a fluffy yarn material... Except for the two low "space buns" on either side of her head, those are literally just cotton balls.
Her tail is prehensile (ik actual Jerboas' tails aren't but shhhh)
She walks like she's on stilts due to her legs bending in the opposite direction of everyone else (if you ever seen people walking with those metal and curved stilts that what I mean).
^ full on leaps like an actual Jerboa when running tho (I'll be real she'd probably be one of the fastest running out of the whole squad, bro got a unintentional speed advantage 💀)
She has very little memory of her human life over the years of being there... But actual (not knife related *cough*Caine*cough*) circus acts seem to be like second nature to preform for her.
^ She was a circus performer as a human... How she ended up in the Digital Circus is a mystery though and it's to the point not even Momo knows at this point.
Though she seems to be bilingual... Since hearing Pomni's name for the first time made Jeronimo pause for a minute and silently look at the clown/jester while she couldn't say a word.

If a Mew gets tired of flying, do they walk or do they hop?
I vote hop. I've seen mentions of jerboas, and I think of kangaroo rats, but one of my favorite animals and another candidate for Mew inspiration is the springhare. (Or as this video calls it, springhaas, which I believe is another name for them.)
Anyway, I think they'd move a lot like this. :3

Hi, I also find your specbios for the ffxiv races really interesting, and I have a question! What'd the inspiration behind elezen because the whiskers and tails have a feathered appearance and I'm curious if they do indeed have feathers kind of like weird birds almost or if you wouldn't mind elaborating further on them?
think moths, not birds! They were the first guys I really messed with, and they’re a result of me trying different features on them like dress up and then a friend of mine was like Bug. Bug Them. and I went ojhh bugmouse
but — GNFBS don’t call them that. Their appearance is attempting to make them look a little more ethereal, a little more woods-wild. Their soft deer/moth feet, feathered whisker-antennae, dormouse jerboa tails, etc. are all things I thought would emphasize their appearance. I considered actual stag features, but figured they’d be overwhelming since I also want to keep the player characters close enough to their original states that I’m not just drawing some other guy on you.
a very important thing that makes me snicker to myself is that I think elezen, despite being the most elegant and refined and very pretty full-grown creatures, are The most awkward guys evolutionarily. they’re stuck in the middle of a transition between toe walking and heel walking so a lot of them develop foot pain. They have back pain by existing. They have vestigial tails that are so fragile most don’t keep theirs into old age. They have terribly designed growth cycles that annoy all of them. They have whiskers at such an angle that hoods or hats are uncomfortable in general. Their hair has to be washed daily or it gets sad. They’re terrible at regulating their own body temperature. Half of them refuse to leave a giant snowy wasteland anyways
