And I can’t be running back and forth forever between grief and high delight. My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. Continue to allow humor to lighten the burden of your tender heart. The things you are passionate about are not random. They are your calling. If you have the power to make someone happy, do it. The world needs more of that. Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are. If a girl starts out all casual with a guy and she doesn’t tell him that she wants a relationship, it will never become a relationship. If you give the guy the impression that casual is okay with you, that’s all he’ll ever want. Be straight with him from the start. If he gets scared and runs away, he wasn’t right for you. Take all the time you need to heal emotionally. Moving on doesn’t take a day. It takes a lot of little steps to be able to break free of your broken self. Remember that you were art long before he came to admire you, and you’ll continue to be art even when he’s gone. A masterpiece is still a masterpiece when the lights are off, and the room is empty. It’s okay to love something a little too much, as long as it’s real to you. You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches. Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. Celebrate every tiny victory. Don’t stress yourself out with things you can’t control or change. Things usually make sense in time, and even bad decisions have their own kind of correctness. I guess that’s just part of loving people: You have to give things up. Sometimes you even have to give them up. I don’t know if I like you or love you, want you or need you. All I know is I love the feelings I get when I’m with you. You don’t love someone because they’re perfect. You love them in spite of the fact that they’re not. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.
