My own play

No but really, I don't think I have a favourite fictional portrayal of him bc most media that deal with him are way more focused on, well you know, the assassination and resulting war and all that than on him as an actual person. The only one that comes to mind is that Christopher Plummer movie and they bimboified him which. Literally 0/10 like have u all seen this man he's supposed to look like Taxidermy Fox.

that being said this novel is funny as hell idk if it's my favourite per se because it's SO MEAN to him but the way they were just making up Depressed Bitch thoughts for him..... Iconic. So really, in this media desert I've been stuck with....

12. Let us know the three best books about your favourite historical figure!

a. The Assassination of the Archduke by Greg King and Sue Woolmans was genuinely a great read!! Sensitively written, with a very narrative flow, it was more than a little biased towards him but you know what, it makes up for every other piece of literature out there that is extremely biased //against// him, so I say screw it. Just keep that in mind and take the more flattering bits with a pinch of salt and you'll be grand.

b. Archduke of Sarajevo by Gordon Brook Shepherd - I'm only halfway through it proper, but it seems promising so far & from the skim I've given it, which is why I'm even here reading it in the first place djhdkdkdkdks

c. So this isn't one I've actually read YET, but Alma Hannig's biography is also said to be very gracefully written and I'm dying to get my filthy hands on it. School library i am BEGGING you ((derogatory))

A few people have asked about my commission prices recently, either out of interest for selling their own art or suggesting that the prices are a bit high. I thought it would be interesting to share a breakdown!

I’m lucky enough to have a full time job that I mostly enjoy, so this isn’t make or break for me, but if this was my only job I would definitely have to charge more than I do to make it worthwhile. Either that or use templates, copy and paste, type lettering or use a lower quality or less ethical printing company.

I’m not complaining by any means- just explaining. I think the more correct price for the amount of work would be about £20 or £30 higher, the costs definitely surprised me when I started, and more so at tax time.

I do love drawing these though, finding out people’s favourite books, looking at all the different editions to pick ones that match, or hunting specific ones down if asked to- and it’s so great getting nice reviews or seeing them up in people’s houses. For anyone looking to start selling their art, I’d also highly recommend getting some prints/stickers/bookmarks etc for sale too, as commissions come in so unevenly.

-What do you think about reposting your work? edit: Do not repost, especially on pinterest. If you like something, you can "reblog" here, "retweet" on Twitter and "repost" on Tiktok.

It's different if you want to use them in a creative form, such as: fanfics, edits, videos, references for drawings - I fully support everything where you give something from yourself! Just give me credits if you don't want to tag me.

But if someone only downloads my renders to post them on their account with 50 hashtags to get as many likes as possible - then no.

Hello there! I’m so glad you asked—I actually have drawn artwork of Becky Albertalli’s characters, but I’ve just been completely derelict in my duty to cross post it everywhere, which is negligent of me and another piece of evidence in the argument that someone else should probably be in charge of my social media accounts. Lol

Here is Imogen and Tessa from Albertalli’s amazing book Imogen, Obviously:

So, funny story about this artwork: I had received Imogen, Obviously as an ARC from Becky after I’d left a comment on one of her posts about how excited I was for this book—primarily because “the discourse,” as it is referred to sort of sardonically in the book, still messes with my head when it comes to my own bisexuality. The more public my life becomes, the more I find myself discomfited by questions like “Am I still allowed to be queer if I’m in a straight passing marriage?” Or “Am I queer enough if, when people see me on the street or bump into me in the check-out line at Safeway, they don’t see a semiotically-dressed bisexual, but rather a slightly overwhelmed working mom in a cardigan and a pair of early-2000s capris?”

As soon as the book showed up, I devoured it, and like, I just can’t remember a book that made me feel so seen. Imogen, Obviously tackles queer purity culture so thoroughly and yet so compassionately, that I immediately picked up my stylus to draw Tessa and Imogen (even though I technically lacked the time to do the image as much justice as I would have otherwise like to have done) then posted it to Instagram and Twitter.

And holy smokes, Becky liked this pic so much, she retroactively commissioned the image so she could give out stickers of it on her book tour. She also granted me permission to sell the print in my Etsy shop (it’s not there yet, but soon!). 🥹

So that’s the story you didn’t ask for but which I had to share—because it looks like we both have an appreciation for Becky’s work in common and because I would love to spend more time drawing Imogen and Tessa or anyone from the Creekwood Series. Kanetta’s hair

Keiris also has this ability to manipulate how light affects their appearance. This illusion doesn’t only apply to hair but it’s the detail that most people point out– it can change other physical attributes and anything on the person.

Kanetta and Keiris can only manipulate selected wavelengths of light (hence the limited range of colours they can change to, Kanetta: brown/teal/purple, Keiris: white/purple/blue/red) and the manipulation effect isn’t active – it’s passive and the users don’t control this. It’s a side effect linked to the intensity of their power

After the resolution of the first arc, Kanetta gets a redemption (YIPEE). And to show this change visually she gets a haircut (it grows back don’t worry). Her hair, unlike Keiris, acts like tentacles and her hair has nerves and shi so she can feel pain 😖 this haircut would have hurt physically

Where would manga be without the bubbles, ribbons, and sparkles that helped give shoujo love stories such flair? The two lovestruck figures are also deliberately androgynous, to honor the fact that both yuri and BL have their roots in classic shoujo manga.  

Revolution

It’s no secret that the staff of AniFem loves Revolutionary Girl Utena, but swords and roses trace all the way back to 1953’s Princess Knight. But more than that, it’s a way to honor how often shoujo has been on the cutting edge of grappling with progressive issues. It might not always do it well, and sometimes its attempts age poorly, but shoujo has always been a place where readers can explore questions about sexuality and gender identity, assault and autonomy, and women’s inner lives.

What’s your take on Max’s PR? I feel like for someone who does as little PR as possible he’s been able to get build a good thing. Part is due to his winning but I also feel like he has such a strong base that follows him that it has to be one of the reasons sponsors will take him in even knowing he’s not going to be the guy posting constant content for you that he has such a loyal following already. And the craziest thing for me is that he didn’t really make an effort to get it, most had been just because of who he is and he didn’t seem to make a effort to build a following up.

max's case is kinda silly. he has been in f1 for a loong time so he went through multiple indirect PR rebrands.

we all know max does not like PR or social media, the only personal interest in social media comes from his endeavors with team redline and sim racing.

his instagram basically fullfills the criteria of what he should post but you can notice most captions have similar wording of "keep pushing" or "we need to maximize the result" etc. etc. i wouldn't be surprised if his IG was purely ran by his team and not him. there were also instances where "he" commented under his gf's posts while he was driving a car in a free practice session soo.. the evidence of him not running the account is there.

he also had a few controversial situations in his career, the abu dhabi 2021 win, or the way he was portrayed in drive to survive in the first seasons.

now, however, more people seem to grow fonder towards him. why? red bull seemed to understand in their social posts like YT/tiktoks/reels that what sells with max is authenticity and that is that max is kinda a silly guy. christian himself said that max is a completely different person in the car/outside of it. in the paddock/garage he's reserved and shy and that's in general his personality.

for example, posts where max was just himself performed REALLY well. let's look on the RBR tiktok: max doing a simple tiktok screw thread game: 47M views the duality of max as a person/driver tiktok: 3.1M views max doing cartwheel in their teammate tiktok livestream: 4.4M views sticker war with charles: 7.8M views max doing the inchident challenge: 4.9M views so yeah, max COULD BE marketable, but only if he isn't forced to do anything against his will. i would also argue that the (for many kinda unexpected) friendship with charles also gained him more public sympathy because charles fans would ask themselves -- if charles likes max, then max must be a fun guy? he also has verstappen.com which is his personal brand, it doesnt do too much, it just exists as a glorified official max fanpage. the thing he needs to work on, however, are written interviews. i dont know if the interviewers just never understand him, or they try to make him look odd but the tone of his major recent interviews never translated well (time magazine, sunday times interviews come to mind). so that's something that he would need to work on --- he's very blunt and honest and straight forward and some things he says just sound really questionable on paper.

i would personally hype up more his side quests -- there aren't many but the 24hr stream he did to raise money for mental health support could be a great thing to promote, but most people only found out about it because he overslept the padel game lol. highlighting events like these would get him, again, more public sympathy.

so yeah, overall, his PR was bad, could be better, but it's going in the right direction and RBR finally understood that max could be a great marketing asset if he just is himself.
