So we know that scene from bad batch where Gregor calls some stormtroopers “insubordinate plebes”.

The use of the word plebe dates back to Roman times where it was a short form of plebeian aka poor folk who were often seen as inferior to the patrician or wealthy class. A plebe can also refer to a newbie which is what he’s using it to mean here I presume. I’m just thinking, if the word pleb exists in the Star Wars universe and has a similar meaning to its use in our own universe, does that mean that Star Wars had an equivalent to the Roman Empire at some point before Palpatine’s empire? Perhaps it was used in one of the old Sith empires?

I’m probably looking way too far into a simple remark but I’m curious as to how Gregor would know of a term like this and how it entered the Star Wars universe. Maybe he learned it while he was missing.
