Wrapping up another week at a bar. You think you’d be sick of it by now but every time, you never regretted a night. Tonight was different, a bachelorette party for your friend Donna. Arriving at a bar near the TOPGUN naval station, you hear a lot about this place from her. She has a thing for pilots but she got engaged to a cop instead. It was then everyone realised she really just had a thing for men in uniforms. 

You guessed it was already 10 and Donna was drunk as she usually was. Left to the devices of her maid of honour, she sent the bridesmaids scattering around the room. You sat at the bar barely touching your drink, instead having a good time with your best friend and fellow bridesmaid Lisa. 

“How about that one?” She motioned over the pair of guys standing close to the restroom entries, “the tall ones have been watching you all night!” 

She took a long sip from her straw giving you time to look before continuing.

“You reckon if you take the tall one, I could take the blond one? God you know I love blonds.” you could only laugh at her in disbelief but you really weren’t surprised. You watched as the tall guy across the bar noticed Lisa’s stare and nudged his blond friend to look too. “Come on! Both in uniform, good psychiques and those sunglasses.” 

“You want me to go up there?” You said with a playful roll of your eyes. This isn’t the first time you’ve done your little one two with her. And with a dead serious look directly into your eyes she gave you a ‘yes’.

Donna made you wear these ridiculous hot pink ribbons tonight that you had both taken off and rested on the bar until this moment. With an idea you tied the ribbon loosely in your hair and started your strut to the restroom. Just like that ribbon was a paid actor, it gracefully slipped onto the floor behind you, landing at the feet of the men on target. You didn’t stop until you heard an “excuse me, miss” behind you.

You turned around and surely enough the blond was holding the hot pink ribbon out to you with charm oozing from his smile. 

“Y/n oh my god! Don’t tell me you almost lost your ribbon. Donna would’ve killed you!” Lisa joined your side, her line sounding so artificial you had to hold back a chuckle - she was never one for acting or lying or hiding any kind of emotion. You took the ribbon from his hand and half hazardly put it back in your hair.

“Thank you…” you smiled towards him, eyes expecting a name in return.

“Tom Kazansky, you can call me iceman.” He was coy beyond all belief and was now eyeing Lisa.

“A pilot huh?” Lisa wasn’t hiding any of it either, eyes wide looking at the boy with her lip caught between her teeth.

“Yes ma’am,” he tips his sunglasses up and gets another good look at her, “and my RIO, Slider.” 

“I’m Lisa, this is my friend y/n. Bridesmaids tonight.” She says. You got a good look at ‘Slider’. Handsome for sure but if he was your type, you were unsure. He kept an eye on you, probably already deciding out of the two that ice would take Lisa home. 

“Always the bridesmaid, never the bride huh.” He chuckles, resting his arm on Iceman’s shoulder. Iceman cracked a smile but not much else of a response was given to the joke. You had your arms crossed, maybe this is why he didn’t seem like your type.

“Always the RIO, never the pilot.” You slipped out without much thought, something in this interaction felt like a challenge to you now. Iceman left out a hearty chuckle before patting his friend on the back, as if saying “good luck with that one”. He puts an arm around Lisa, a coy “let me get you a drink” was heard as they walked away. Leaving you and Slider there alone.

You let out a small awkward cough, he took a sip from his drink. 

Eventually the conversation picked up, you didn’t completely dislike the man. He was cocky but he wasn’t disrespectful and he was damn nice to look at. He had a gorgeous smile but god if some vile stuff didn’t come out of it sometimes. It made you laugh though and with every drink you had, you felt yourself loosen up and care less how demanding he was.  

“So.. why do they call you slider?” You took a small sip of your drink, at this point you’ve completely lost track of Lisa.

“Because the way I talk up girls, it just slides right in.” and that sip you took was put right back into that glass. He looked proud of that one.

“Gross.”

You took him back to your place, you couldn’t help it. It was his large hands on your hips, or maybe it was his smile. Whatever it was, you didn’t think he would get you but you caved in. The way he began to speak to you over a couple drinks. He told you to sit in his lap or take his hand or take him home, you were almost in a trance. 

He couldn’t keep his hands off you, lips attached to your neck when all you wanted to do in the moment was unlock your front door. His hands never left your hips, from opening the door to stepping inside and locking it again. He was persistent.

“Where’s your bedroom?” Sultry with an American twang in your ear - a breath of fresh air compared to the loud club music playing all night. You pointed down the hall and for the first time since you got to your place, his hands left your sides. All you could do is stand and watch as he strode down the hallway, cocky kind of confidence in his step.

“You coming baby?” Damn straight you were. Your bed wasn’t made, he didn’t even notice. Because under three buttons, two straps and one clasp, you were all his. 

You finally walked into your room to see him already making himself at home. Sitting on the edge of your bed and unbuttoning his shirt. Largest manspread you’ve ever seen, naturally your eyes had to look. Look… more like stare but he loved the attention and the look on his face told you so. The boy was smug.

“Do a twirl for me” he had a wide smirk on his face, the kind you’d read about in romance novels. Shamelessly staring at your hips.

“A what?” You were taken aback but not surprised at this point. He was certainly confident.

“You heard me baby.” He was on his feet now, shirt abandoned and hands back on your hips. For half a second, his grip tightened and he spun you around. His head craned back to get a better look of you. You weren’t sure what face you were making but from Slider’s response, he thought you didn’t look so impressed. 

“What, are you embarrassed now?” He raised an eyebrow as though he couldn’t believe you’d already forgotten the series of conversations from earlier that night.

“And so what if I am?” Your eyebrows were raised to match his, a cheeky smile fighting its way onto your face now. Feigning innocence. He’d be lying if he said it didn’t make him hot in the ears.

“I don’t believe you.” His hand moulded around the back of your neck, bringing your face closer to his. Lips meeting again and again. He likes to hear the smacking echo. Slowly he backed you up against a wall, you only noticed when your back hit it. His tan forearm resting against the wall, next to your head. You let out a couple of deep breaths watching the way his chest would rise and fall in front of your face.

You met his eye, the signal you gave was subtle but he caught on. A flick of your eyes down and he was scooting back to give you more room to work. You started high, at his collarbone. One kiss at a time. By the time you got to his stomach, he’d had enough and grabbed the back of your head, guiding you faster. The express trail until you were on your knees in front of his belt. He continued to hold your face closer.

Your nose nudged his cotton covered crotch and the sigh he let out did something to the butterflies in your stomach. His hand didn’t budge, you were stuck nose to pants. So you did what any rational, hot and bothered gal would do. Kitten licks turned into full on sucking, until there was a stained patch of saliva on his white pants. The same forearm was holding him up against the wall, the other he brought up to you. His flat palm presented out, waiting for your response.

Again you did just as he asked, conjuring as much spit up in your mouth as possible and dragging it across his open palm. Slowly, feeling every ridge and calloused piece of skin. “You mean it?” It almost sounded like he couldn’t believe it but was definitely on board to see you again. You demeanour grew even more playful knowing he was up for making this more than just a one night stand.

“Yeah but… I don't have money.” You twirled your hair and put on a fake innocent pout. He only chuckled and picked you up. He was fully prepared to throw you on your bed until he heard you laugh. Your gorgeous laugh, he was breathless for a moment. Was he swooning? Did Slider have a crush all of a sudden?

“Let’s get a coffee.” a smitten little smile played on his lips.

“Right now?” your eyebrows raised, it was half past midnight. He fake checked the watch on his wrist that didn’t exist. 

“Well I ain’t planning on sleeping anytime soon, I don’t know about you.”

Anon comment two: "It's a Marvel crossover, Jason Todd / Tony Stark / Bucky Barnes, Jason POV, rated E, slow burn, 100k. Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence. If you don't like reading actual explicit sex and don't mind missing a tiny bit of characterization with it, you can skip it easily since it's neatly contained in its own two chapters (chapter notes says something like "bumped up the rating" so you get advance warning). It was one of the fics that introduced me to DC and made me love Jason, and a hundred fics later it's still top of the list. It has great characterization, somewhat scarce but quality batfam interactions, emotional angst, an in-depth look about Jason and how he feels about his death, father figures, and the Robins, and every character being horrified by each other's past and dismissive about their own. I also really like the kind of slow burn it is. The core of it is them feeling protective towards each other and amazed by their respective skills, not by their bodies, and there's no urgency or pining or embarrassment: sex is not the end goal, it's not a big milestone Jason looks forward to, it's just something nice that they do at some point because it feels right then, and it doesn't change their relationship."

Well, time for my autistic hyperfixation skills to shine! Here's your cheat-sheet for what Halo EU media to skip to for the good parts (aka aliens):

Since you've already read The Cole Protocol, Envoy is a rlly good skipping point. Besides the greatness that is Rojka 'Kasaan, and it having a pretty notable Jiralhanae villain, it's also written by the same author and follows up on the Gray Team storyline introduced in the former book.

Hunters in the Dark also makes the top of my list for fleshing out the Halo 3 co-op characters N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham and giving us nice cross-species positive interactions. Also can't forget Broken Circle, as it's all Sangheili and San'Shyuum in the story, no humans for once. It's split between two timelines: the era of the Covenant's founding and the time of Halo 2.

The Ferrets series of books (Last Light, Retribution, and Divine Wind so far) features the reoccurring antagonistic faction the Keepers of the One Truth lead by the Jiralhanae named Castor. The Master Chief series also features Fleetmaster Nizat 'Kvarosee in the first two books (Silent Storm and Oblivion) and the Keepers in Shadows of Reach; haven't read them yet but I heard good things about Nizat so far and he seems to be one of the more unique in the lore, being kinda older than most Sangheili we've seen so far. Also can't forget the Halo CE novelization, The Flood, which featured the first portrayal of Covenant perspectives in canon I believe (and therefore some of the lore and characterization there is a bit off in comparison to the rest of the books, but it's fine). Zuka 'Zamamee and Yayap are a real treat in that one, even if the tone of their sections are a bit sillier than most (from my impression so far, haven't finished the book yet actually).

And I kind of have to include the Kilo-Five trilogy, although with the fair warning that they're a bit divisive amongst the fandom. You're either gonna like them or despise them. I think a majority people, regardless of how they feel about the trilogy as a whole, did find the alien sections fine though. If I had to re-read them again I'd probably skip to just those chapters. Jul 'Mdama is a prominent character in the first two books (Glasslands and The Thursday War), with his wife Raia 'Mdama having more of a spotlight in the second, but then the whole 'Mdama plotline wraps up and gets replaced by Kig-Yar Chol 'Von in Mortal Dictata (although she's a good character on her own and it's unfortunate her story never got picked up by other authors after the trilogy ended). Other notable aliens in the trilogy include Forze 'Mdama, Avu Med 'Telcam, Sav Fel, and probably the most concentration of named Huragoks in a Halo storyline ever. Thel also makes some appearances here too.

Speaking of the 'Mdamas tho; I haven't gotten to it yet but Legacy of Onyx does feature Jul and Raia's sons as major players post-Halo 5, plus I believe there is a Sangheili teacher character and maybe some rare alien kid characters. Ohhhh and I can't believe I almost forgot, but upcoming book Outcasts is gonna feature Thel as a main character again! Been waiting for it but it got delayed, we should finally be getting it in August tho. You may want to read the Master Chief books first tho since it looks like some lore introduced there will be featured here too, especially since it's the same author Troy Dennings.

Finally to round out the recs are the anthologies. I'd go for Fractures before Evolutions, as the former has Shadow of Intent with Rtas, Tul 'Juran, Vul 'Soran, Stolt, and Tem'Bhetek and Oasis with Jat (who existed for maybe a dozen pages but has captured my heart for years). Latter still has Henry (human nickname, we never learned his real name because of language barrier) in The Mona Lisa, some named Jiralhanae in Stomping on the Heels of a Fuss (which I forgot about so idk if it's because it's been years or if they did not have much of a role), and an unnamed Sangheili shipmaster who's the focus of The Return. The Return & The Mona Lisa also got "animated" adaptations in the form of voice-acted motion comics you can find on YouTube.

Those are all books but maybe I might as well throw in the comics. Obviously there's the Rise of Atriox miniseries. Also not as well known but there was a small prequel comic for the first Halo Wars which features Ripa 'Moramee's origin story; I got the physical copy as part of my game copy, idk if there's a way to access it digitally. The Halo Graphic Novel includes the famous Halo story The Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor feat Rtas 'Vadum and Thel in his Fleetmaster era. Haven't read it but Blood Lines has two Sangheili brothers as major antagonists. Tales From Slipspace has Atriox in Hunting Party and Avu Med 'Telcam in Knight Takes Bishop. Finally one of the more well known comics, Escalation has a few points of interest (note I haven't read all of 'em yet and going off Halopedia for this): Thel in Issues 1-3 + Jiralhanae Lydus, Jul 'Mdama and Sali 'Nyon in the Janus Key arc (Issues 13-16) and Absolute Record arc (Issues 19-24), and Ayit 'Sevi in Absolute Record arc.

And what the heck. let's get obscure: The Halo Wars Official Strategy Guide published by Prima Publishing includes some flash fiction featuring Ripa 'Moramee and The Prophet of Regret, because sometimes crumbs is all ya get. Halo: Legends - aka the official Halo anime - also has The Duel which shows an ancient Arbiter and why the title is considered dishonorable in modern Halo times.

Oh and... I guess there's the Forerunner trilogy, for like, Forerunners... tbh tho they're basically bootleggish humans to me, I rank them the lowest out of all the Halo aliens and don't really consider them most of the time when hyper-focusing on Halo aliens.

The only issue I've ever had with DeanLisa is that it reads too much to me like the "I've met you only a handful of times and I wanna spend the rest of my life with you" ala Disney Princess + Prince trope, and I just can't stand that trope. That's just a personal preference though

But I've never had a problem with Lisa herself - I think she's really fucking cool actually, and that she really did care about Dean. I think they both were reaching for an ideal, a dream, and they found solace in each other, but the circumstances that led them together (the second/third/fourth) time were not conducive to a lasting relationship.

I think it's more biphobic to be super anti DeanLisa tbh? (as a concept, not saying you have to ship them). Bc it's denying that part of Dean, like people really wanna dive deep into Dean's queerness in the way he interacts with men, but it's incredibly biphobic to then deny a relationship he had with a woman that meant a lot to him. That relationship doesn't take away from his queerness, he's still bi even while he's with a woman. Sure, I can see the argument behind comp cishet relationships and how that's bi/homophobic, but I think in this situation it's more nuanced than that? There's so many factors that lead into Dean going to Lisa (mainly feeling completely abandoned by everyone..which...he more-or-less was, be it on purpose (Cas) or not (Sam)) after such incredible trauma, he's obviously going to go to someone who he can find comfort in, that he already knows, who cares for him and he cares for back...I don't think that's comp cishet

I guess I lived in my own little SPN bubble bc I had no idea people hated her so much until fairly recently, as I started seeing posts and stumbling upon old fics where she's written as a nasty bitch for NO good reason

Yeah I agree with you. I have no problem with people just saying "I don't like it. It just isn't my thing. It's boring, it doesn't appeal to me, I do not vibe with it, I like another ship better, he should have gone to Cassie instead, I don't think the storyline ever should have been done because of x,y, z" etc. What is sooo weird to me is people who can't live with just saying they don't like it and have to make the fact that they don't like it some kind of moral issue and/or talk about it in a way that ends up just displaying their own (internalized or externalized) biphobia and misogyny (edit: and even ableism—because I have seen that one quite a bit too).

I have seen people say:

Lisa and Dean are both used up because they've had so much sex with other people and therefore the relationship is nothing more than an expression of their mutually low standards, where simultaneously neither of them are good enough for the other because they have had too much sex. (Which was then back tracked to Dean being the only one who is all used up from all the sex he has had, because we wouldn't want to be misogynists).

Dean and Lisa's relationship is conservative christian (as someone raised in a conservative christian home, I can assure you that is not the case).

Dean and Lisa is a heteronormative relationship and is therefore bad. That is... not only very debatable, but based on what? Why? What is so "heteronormative" about it? I'll pay someone $50 if they can tell me without being biphobic, homophobic, or misogynist, or basically line for line describing a post-canon or AU destiel fic they’ve recced before just replacing Lisa with Cas. (Having a home is heteronormative? Parenting a child? Living together? What is it? I can never get a straight (heh) answer.)

Dean/Lisa is biphobic. Again... why? Because Dean is with a woman? Do... do we know what bisexual means? Are we sure?? Because it sounds like—frankly—the queer community yet again being one of the more biphobic communities around, and saying bi people are only interesting and acceptable when they are in same sex romances, and otherwise they are heteronormative and bad and wrong and boring. Which is a great thing to make bi people on the internet (whether you count yourself among them or not) read. Like. I think the way we interpret many characters who are not explicitly and openly bisexual as bisexual has also in some sense poisoned people into treating bi-ness as like... an exciting accessory, instead of a sexuality. Which is again—not how bisexuality works, but is how people on Tumblr often seem to treat bisexuality when they act like it is an accessory being thrown on or taken off by a character. "Well Dean isn't wearing his bisexuality accessory right now since he's in a 'het' romance, so he is not shiny enough and I am not interested in him". It's just fucking weird and it makes me uncomfortable.

Also, I don't know why this comes as a shock to some people, but calling something "het" is not inherently an argument proving that thing is bad and wrong, and suggesting that it is is also fucking weird.

Edit: Another one I forgot—"Dean is messed up/'damaged' therefore Lisa should never have allowed him in her home". Because we think people with PTSD shouldn't be shown kindness by people who don't have PTSD, I guess, and people without PTSD should avoid people who have PTSD at all costs.

Like. It is no secret that I utterly despise Sam/Amelia. But you know what I don't do? I don't go around calling it heteronormative, or applying my weird conservative christian leftovers about sexual purity to the relationship, or saying Sam was too messed up in the head and a "normal" woman never should have allowed someone so "damaged" to be in her life, in order to shout from the roof tops how "problematic" it is for them to be together. I just say "I don't like it because Amelia is not an enjoyable character to me. I find her extremely awkward and uncomfortable and I don't like the way she talks to Sam and don't understand the romance."

Thank you for the rec I’m absolutely checking it out ASAP. It looks incredible, especially this panel.

I feel like so much of Frank Castle is locked into how his life with his family was not this perfect and idealized past he lost. It was sometimes messy and painful and imperfect—but that doesn’t change the depth of love he felt for them.

His time in war touched him extremely deeply and it affected his dynamics and interactions with his family. And it’s sooo interesting in the sense that in the show and in the comics Frank seems to repeatedly try to shutter out his family from him as a solider—and pretty unsuccessfully. It’s not that his family doesn’t see the echoes of franks time in war, but he often does not talk to them about the full depth of what happened and how it affects him internally.

So you’re left with this extremely messy man who had a very complicated relationship with his loved ones that he can’t fix anymore. I feel like we always think we have time to make things better, but Frank can’t bridge the divide with a family that died. The punisher is so tangled up in regret and lost potentiality and I feel like panels like these really show as much.

Romance was not an interest for Raph, he always sort of turned his beak at it and rolled his eyes with annoyance when movies and shows seemed to show it in. He rather watched the monster or slasher go one with their whole deal instead of having to be made to watch the romance subplot. Often it runined the story he rather know more about the so called villain in the tales, honestly he couldn't blame half of them. They out making out when they should be trying to run no shit they get axed off. He couldn't understand his brothers when they got crushed and just turned into weird versions of themselves making asses out them each. Raph just didn't get it he didn't care for it. Sure people caught his eye and he found them attractive but that seemed different. It was till a trip to space a twist of fate lead him to meet her.

sure it wasn't her actual name but she accepted the nickname because to Raph nothing suited her better than one claiming her to be what he saw her as. The most beautiful women to ever exist. Suddenly it all made sense the moment she hit him.

Butterflies swarmed in his shell when he was around her, he found his stare always on her. He walked with such an air of confidence normally but around Mona? he grew shy. He sighed and stare longing at the stars because they made him think of her. He hummed songs that made him think of her. She was like a song stuck in his head that he never got sick off, now he understood it all made sense now. Why his brothers became such dorks over their own crushes. It's why he can't help but feel like his throat was clog with his heart when she was around. Sitting beside him now as they simply stare out the large glass window looking out to the stars. Yet all he can do is look at her, till she seems to catch on he smiles sheepishly at her.

"Uh... did ya wanna go to the rec room on the ship or somethin' think 'hats where the other took off ta?" He offers to explain why he was staring at here. Hoping not he was enjoying their alone time.

first off, yes ofc you can use Shannon in your headcanons and things! I'm honored you even want to to begin with! this blog is currently still glitched out of being like, findable or viewable outside of the dash so i'd recommend tagging my main @namorian for now if you want to be sure i'll actually see anything lol 💀

SO ON TO THE HOT SHANNON DEETS!!!!

I've finally done some math on her age since Ria's already sorted out the brothers 💀 her birthday is June 15 1968, she's a Gemini and she's about 2 years younger than Steve and in Nancy's year. She's also 5ft with a gymnastics kind of athletic build since she's the one they hurl around in cheer. Overall she's very petite, except her hair ofc. Big hair is a Harrington family trait lol.

Her personality is like, stereotypical insane teenage girl to comical levels. Characters that she's similar to are people like Cordelia Chase from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alison DiLaurentis from Pretty Little Liars (early seasons when everyone thinks she's dead and all the flashbacks of her are Fucked Up lol), Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries, Mona-Lisa Saperstein from Parks & Rec and Megan from Drake & Josh to give like a vibe palate lol.

At her best self she's Cordelia— she's intelligent, caring, determined and brutally honest. Some of Cordelia's best and most character defining lines are "Tact is just saying not true stuff", "You think I'm never lonely because I'm so cute and popular? I can be surrounded by people and be completely alone. It's not like any of them really know me." and "I'm not a sniveling, whiny, little cry-Buffy. I'm the nastiest girl in Sunnydale history. I take crap from no one." All of those really do also apply to Shannon, they're 100% things she could and would say. When she's at her best and healthiest she's a Massive Bitch™ but she's your Massive Bitch™ and she loves and protects the people she considers hers aggressively and she doesn't lie to anyone just to make them feel better. She can and will fight anyone and she'll win.

At her worst she's like Alison or Damon, just this selfish bordering in sociopathic, needlessly mean, manipulative and just...The Worst™. Just a petty spiteful bitch who alleviates her own boredom and issues by torturing people for fun. She rarely feels bad about it and never apologizes. She's a Bitch (derogatory) and kind of a monster. Like she's not a very insecure person, she's actually very comfortable in how great she is, but she's also intimately aware that she lacks direction in life and that most people around her don't actually like her. Even at home there's an air of "ugh it's my turn to look after Shannon? GREAT :/" which naturally does not make one feel awesome.

Where Steve has internalized his issues with loneliness as "there's something wrong with me and that's why people don't want to be around me" Shannon's internalized it as "people will never understand me because I'm too much for them, I'm too different and better than them. That's why they don't stay." and it shows in how they interact with the world. She feels very comfortable being the Worst™ because well, she kinda is a small fish in a big pond and she knows she can be a monster and still have people begging to be near her. She's learned that her outbursts and bad behavior get her more rewards than her good behavior so she's just gonna keep rolling with that until it stops being true.

She craves attention and will do a lot of things to get it. She's very funny as part of gaining and maintaining attention.

When she was first conceived of and it was just her and Steve as the siblings there was a kind of unspoken knowledge that a big part of why she was even born was the "they can entertain each other" aspect, like going to the pound and getting another cat/dog to keep your existing pet company while you're at work. Steve was the golden boy and even then he wasn't given much attention and she was just kind of There. She's never held this against Steve since he's you know... not really getting a much better shake than she is but it's absolutely present in her behaviors like the attention seeking and manipulation.

With the addition of more brothers she's less of the "extra" and more "The Girl™" and much of the attention and special treatment she gets is because she's The Girl, not because she's a preferred child. It's just because it's assumed girls need different things than boys. There's a lot of assumptions made by their parents about her, her interests, her personality etc because she's The Girl™. And while she is very feminine and does like many traditionally feminine things it's just very reductive and ignores her actual strengths and her genuine struggles. Her social life is not really respected, her hurt is not really seen as valid etc etc because she's a Teen Girl. That last bit applies whether or not she's got 1 or 4 brothers but it's more blatant and intense when they've had 4 boys before her.

Shannon's relationship with Steve is probably the healthiest and most genuine in her entire life. She loves all her brothers a lot and genuinely loves to be around them and bother them but Steve's basically always been the one saddled with her so he's the one she's the closest with. It also helps they're the closest in age and go to school together. When it's just them and no other siblings they 100% did entertain and keep each other company just like it was kind of intended they would. They are unironically each other's best friend.

Steve is one of the very few people who can clap back on Shannon for her shitty behavior and have her actually then feel bad and apologize and try and do better (the others are her brother and heather). She really loves and looks up to Steve. She knows she's a very tough to swallow personality even when she's toning it down and plenty of people have decided she's not worth the struggle. Steve gets annoyed and exasperated and even angry sometimes but he still sticks around and hangs out with her. She teases him and annoys him and is just an utter menace to him but it's out of love and he understands that and bitches and moans and retaliates and gives her a big hug at the end of the day because she's an annoying little shit but she's his annoying little shit.

It's why she has SUCH a grudge against Nancy— like to the point she WOULD fight Nancy in the halls. Shannon is very aware of Steve's soft gooey center— having spent her whole life taking advantage of it— and she really can't stand how that relationship ended and what it did to Steve's self-esteem/image/worth. She really hates anyone/thing that makes Steve think he's shit. Like even SHE doesn't do that, not really. Like she'll call him stupid and then ask him to help her solve a problem. Of the two of them, Shannon is the more academically successful but she's always turning to Steve for help and advice and returns that favor when/where she can. Like we're not gonna get into the bloodbaths of Steve's senior year in the Harrington house, Shannon was ready to come over the table for their dad lol.

Doctor Who & Torchwood Rec List

Since I headcanon the Doctor as being aspec, I'm kinda picky about ship fics involving him. Pretty much the only romantic ships for the Doctor that actually feel like they work are Doctor/Rose, Doctor/Rose/Jack, and Doctor/Master. (I really wish 13/Yaz had more chemistry since I adore Yaz, but the ship in canon came out of nowhere once Dan decided he was a shipper on board. And it was one-sided in a way that was super uncomfortable to me after how badly Doctor/River was mishandled, but this isn't my blog for talking about meta so I'll leave off on that.)

That said, there is a lot of shipping going on in these recs... they're just mostly not the Doctor. (And, okay, there's a Sarah Jane Adventures fic in here too...)

The Rec List:

The Boy Who Waited by Lunik Gen Fic In the timeline of the Earth without stars, Rory Williams loses the Pandorica - and his memories - and winds up working for SHIELD. It's a fun character study of Rory (who keeps changing his name since he can't remember his real one) and starts off during the events of the first Thor movie. It's got more MCU characters than Doctor Who, but because it's about Rory I think of it first and foremost as a DW fic.

Guardians of the Universe by Lumendea Ship: Doctor/Rose A series rewriting the entirety of the reboot series and its spin offs (well, it hasn't touched on Class yet, that I remember). Rose first meets the Doctor when she's eleven and the whole universe changes. The series is huge and well written, incorporating a lot of lore from the original series and expanded universe (though it's ignoring more recent revelations, such as the Timeless Child). A lot of former companions show up and handless the Time Travelers Wife type situation the Doctor and Rose are in a lot better than canon handled it with the Doctor and River. The series itself unfinished, but is being updated regularly. And there's 17 works in the series already, most of which are completed long fics.

The Mystery of the Hopping Vampire by David Hines (hradzka) Ship: Jenny/Vastra Jenny and Madam Vastra investigate an alien causing trouble in London. There are references to plenty of other adventures that make me wish we'd had a spin off show about these two investigating aliens in Victorian London. (They deserved a spin off show.) Jenny is particularly awesome in this fic and proves to be just as important a part of the investigating team as Vastra.

Stay Strong, Ponds by Starknight Gen Fic A short fic where 13 runs into Rory by accident and can't quite resist leaving him a gift afterwards.

drape me in your warmth by princessoftheworlds Ship: Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones In which Jack Harkness never meets the Doctor and Rose, never becomes immortal. When Lisa Hallett dies at Canary Wharf, Ianto moves back to Cardiff and re-establishes Torchwood there. But a certain Time Agent winds up meeting the new head of Torchwood anyway. It isn't exactly a happy ending, though. So do keep that in mind.

Recall by Lumendea Ship: Doctor/Rose Gaia, the Doctor's daughter, has a recall device that takes her to the nearest safe point in the TARDIS when activated. However, it's not always a version of the TARDIS that lines up with her own time line. In which Gaia visits the TARDIS and meets versions of her father that are younger (or older) than the one raising her. The Doctor/Rose ship is largely background to the larger story, which is the Doctor interacting with Gaia and dealing with his curiosity about the circular paradox that is his daughter. It's unfinished, but ongoing, and Gaia's interactions with the Doctor and his Companions are really quite sweet.

Absent Friends by Beleriandings Ship: Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones Based off the summary of the un-released Big Finish audioplay by the same name. The Doctor must team up with Jack's Torchwood when Cardiff is endangered by the voices of the dead.

This Is How The Universe Ends by perryvic and shewhoguards Ship: Jack Harkness/Death When the universe comes to an end, Death finds there's still one person left. Whom he can't seem to reap. A largely silly fic in which Death of the Discworld variety makes a new friend and Jack flirt with a talking skeleton over board games.

Doctor Who Season Four and Season Five by Aria Ship: Doctor/Master, Martha Jones/Thomas Milligan The Master doesn't die at the end of New Who series three and travels with the Doctor, ostensibly to keep him out of trouble. Which is not always a successful endeavor. Somewhat angsty and sometimes the Master gets one over on the Doctor, but the push and pull between them is quite interesting.

By Any Other Name by averita Ship: Clyde Langer/Ellie Faber Clyde and Ellie are reunited after the events of The Curse of Clyde Langer.

The Man in the Tower by blackkat Ship: Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones, Owen Harper/Toshiko Sato A fusion fic using To Ride Pegasus/The Tower and The Hive universe by Anne McCaffrey as it's setting. Prime Talent Ianto Jones is resigned to his fate as a disgraced Talent when the universe rips open and drops Jack Harkness at his feet.

Pocket Watch Boy by Mhalachai Ship: Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones When Ianto was a child, he fell from a tree and woke up with a different face. Years later he learns perception filters don't exactly work well on the dead. One of my favorite Timelord!Ianto fics.

Displacement (The Longest Three-Week Day) by michelel72 Ship: Rodney McKay/Donna Noble At another science conference gone wrong, Rodney McKay meets Donna Noble and that's when things get interesting. A fix fic for the state Donna was left in after Journey's End and a very cute crossover ship.

That seems like enough for now, but there are so many Doctor Who & Torchwood fics I've really enjoyed so I'll have to do another rec list for the fandom later.

So I did went to the Dub premiere of One Piece Film Red and here are my thoughts:

The crowd was hype, but not hype enough imo. Don't get me wrong! It was a sold out crowd and the majority legitimately came to Hollywood because they are fans!! I was just close to... anime influencers (looks into the camera like The Office) who obviously were just invited and were clearly not caught up on the manga so....

There's a very specific reveal that you need to be caught up to understand (unless you got spoiled). So obviously those who knew were like BRUHHHHH, and those who don't were confused

They accidentally played the sub version for a good 5 minutes fndjdjdd. BUT!! I did make me appreciate the next thing

Dub!Usopp made a KISS reference and the line delivery was so superb it made me laugh hard

"Lisa Ortiz, the 4kids voice for Chopper did the voice fo-" My brain, without hesitation: AMY ROSE???? SERENITY WHEELER?????

We need Bella Hudson to reprise her Luffy so she can voice [cars honking, dogs barking, thunder crashing]

Right... the movie was good, my tits were not blown clean off but I'm watching again next week to fully appreciate it. Soundtrack fucks hard though

@xxlittle0birdxx knows. like for many in the fandom, the first day was where we read on ffn back in 2007. it is still my comfort fic for many reasons, more than just nostalgia! i love how lisa kept the focus on inter-personal relationships instead of building a giant adventure. harry has some of my favorite interactions with arthur and molly, providing him a space to heal after everything.

this love ain't made for the faint of heart (post-SDC, Holly-centric)--but also you should just read librisdedita's fics! for that good open-wound trauma mood!

House of Four Doors (post-VA, Bruno/Abbacchio, two mentally ill people falling in love :') )--obviously you should be reading kawauso if you aren't already
