three shots in trying to figure out what bradley was planning on doing with his poli sci degree if getting in the navy didn’t pan out

Every time I log onto social media at the moment, I see celebrities and influencers — who have never picked up a book on the Occupied Territories in their life, by the way — sharing their banal, useless take on Hamas and Israel. And every time that happens, I am reminded of that moment in Bo Burnham’s Inside where he says, “Can any single person shut the fuck up about any singlе thing for an hour? You know, is that possible?”

#n o t me clinging to meoto to retain my sanity bc g o o d l o r d today was the worst #today was truly a very bad; very horrible day indeeeeeeed #man. today truly was a comedic tragedy in every way possible. i’d laugh if i were anyone else tbh #first i couldn’t start my workstation bc we were out of this cleaning acid thing.#t h e n this other branch lab sent over a precise amount of [reagent] that we needed to make the cleaning acid thing #*and* what’s worse was that they also demanded like. 1/5 of the acid we mixed. like bro. make it yourself mans.#but the worst part was when i tried to use a dropper to poke this sediment out of [tube i was supposed to be cleaning]#bUT THEN HALF OF THE DROPPER MELTED BC THAT BUGGER CAN’T HANDLE HIGH TEMPERATURES AAAAAAAAAAAAAA #stupid new droppers man. the old droppers could handle 100 degrees just fine. s o now the tube is clogged with melted plastic and it’s just.#life’s *really* great sometimes yk~~~~? (ʘ‿ʘ)#and so the night shift dude who came to take over the workstation against expectations seemed kinda pissed that i hadn’t started anything #and im just there. with my intestines wriggling about like internal abdominal worms. tryin not to cry in the face of my mistake.#while he’s fumin’ away like a freakin’ chimney or sth. like. man. no one asked you to take this workstation. you came here on your own. :(#anyway i ditched him and left for my break to calm myself down only to be approached by some random terribly lost middle aged to old lady #who was looking for directions to *somewhere* but she only spoke chinese aaaaaaaa #and i can’t read maps/i don’t even live in the area of my workplace so i have no idea if the lady managed to make it safely #but. lol. the lady showed me her message screen when she asked me for directions to her destination #and by pure coincidence the person she was texting is apparently related to someone with the same first name as me #the cons and cons of having common names man. i hope the lady managed to find her friend with the same name as me though lol #anyways. pls hw im begging. pls drop the crossfade for lxl birthday tmr i n e e d more meoto to carry on—#s o b s this is what im living for now ig. meoto………..

have y'all ever heard of the security dilemma? It's an important concept in international relations and it feels super relevant to what I feel the progression of limited life is going to look like,,

the security dilemma refers to a hypothetical situation in which a nation, in effort to maximize security, ends up taking actions that unintentionally lessen their security. It's obviously a goal of all nations to be secure enough to deter being attacked; to reach this goal, they take actions to improve security (whatever this means to them, obtaining more weaponry, increasing military spending, developing technology, etc.). Though in turn, this decreases other nations security, who then take it upon themselves to improve their own defenses. In some cases, the continued expansion of defenses and power on both sides is interpreted as a threat that leads to the escalation of conflict. Therefore, in taking action to improve their security, many nations actually end up worsening their security, aka "the security dilemma."

Now, limited life. What do the players need to feel secure? more time. How do they gain more time? Killing other players. And what does this lead to? creating more enemies, sure—more people who are going to want to get back at you. But it doesn't even have to be that personal.

The more time that a player has, the more secure that they will be. But also, the more time that a player has, the bigger a threat they will be to players who need more time themselves. You gain security by gaining time, but the more time you gain, the larger a target you become for other players who are looking to add to their own timers. It's the security dilemma—in gaining time to make themself more safe, a player is actually actively making themself less safe.

G-witch episode 15: A former narcissist, after trying to starve himself for accidentally killing his father, desperately tries and fails to save a dying child. Meanwhile, the two types of humans, Spacians and Earthians, are destroying one another.

In all serious, this episode destroyed me. I cannot describe the sound that came out of me near the end.

LITERALLY it went 0-100 so fast. It’s my first gundam and apparently this is the level that the other shows *started* at, so at this rate I will be having a breakdown every episode by the end of the show.

About every five minutes I stopped and audibly said “that’s so FUCKED?!”

#point of poto is that society hates ugly things and lik #to a degree that's what mayoi is about. her 'ugly' thoughts and own internalized self loathing #but in comparison to 'erik is literally a yellow skinned skull' she is not that (yes i recognize this is for marketing reasons)#like i do think it's a fun way to explore 'ugliness'. mayoi is ugly on the inside but as a result from her (potential) upbringing #but i do prefer leroux's message. as heavy handed and all at the end as it was #it's been mentioned mayoi's family 'owned' the es building or whatever i don't know shit about lore #which is implying that like. we've had some phantoms for a while #shinkai cult is all well and good but hear my insane 10pm ramblings out #offshoot of sakuma clan. hence the fear #they remain in the shadows but must still remain out of sight of their family...#im going to be very off base when we finally get mayoi backstory but i can hope and pray #sage talks #can i give mayoi mommy issues. def bc it relates back to the poto thing and not because of anything else

I applied #idk what to tell you #weird vibes bc she like has a master's degree and stuff #but is a newcomer to the field #vs. I did a college major and two separate internships that are directly related to this job #which is more or less what I said to her #but yeah she asked me if I thought our team would hire anyone new full time anytime soon #and like. the true answer is. no and also if we were you would probably not get hired #but obviously I did not say that #anyway idk what my point is #perfectly normal things for an intern to be asking and also good for her #maybe just set off some more imposter-syndrome-esque feelings for me #and also idk just in general. don't like when people have the mindset that something I have trained and studied and practiced for #is something that anyone can. just do. with the same level of quality #especially bc I am still so inexperienced compared to my coworkers #and also. this girl has less experience than me but is very confident and well spoken and I still feel like a frightened deer
