Miroku: “Kagome, wait!”
Sango: “He went back twice to get you! Since you left all he’s done is sigh heavily and mope around!”
Miroku: “He’s doing his best! Please, calm down!
Inuyasha: “How do you know I went back!? You were watching me!?”
Miroku: “Kagome’s back and that’s all that matters! Just swallow your pride and apologize nicely.”
Inuyasha:
Sango: “Forgive us, Inuyasha!”
Inuyasha: “NEVEEEEER!”
I love them so much 😭🥺😭

Found Family Tournament Round 1 Part 22 Group 106
Propaganda and further pictures under the cut
Hayakawa Family: Denji, Aki Hayakawa, Power
Submissions are still open!
Hayakawa Family:
They are so special to me AUGH I love them so much. Denji and Power are the chaos siblings and Aki is the older brother who has to deal with their shenanigans. They canonically live together and Denji just straight up said that he views Power as his younger sister. They are so Family it's painful. Denji's dad committed suicide and no one knows his mom, Aki's whole family died tragically, and Power is a fiend which means she wouldn't have any relatives anyway. Then they got put in a devil hunting division together and Denji (who lived in a shed) and Power (who had no home) were assigned to live in Aki's apartment, and from then on it's history. I don't expect them to win, as much as I hope they do, but I'm glad I found this tournament that I could submit them in!
whats better than coworkers being forced to live together until they love each other? sometimes a family is a 16 year old boy that was kidnapped by the government for having a chainsaw head, the most egotistical possessed corpse in existence, and an overworked 20 year old with depression and homemaking skills. they have one last name between them and thats all they really need.
InuYasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, Sango & Kirara:
They're from my childhood, one of my first real animes, this poor unloved child ends up with a family and a happy ending (we will ignore the sequel...like..reallllly ignore it) he finally has a chance to grow, to love without rebuke. It's just wholesome 🥺🥺

Inuyasha being obsessed with food is funny until you realize that spending half of his life having to hunt to feed himself or starve, never knowing how long it would be between one meal and the next, likely played a factor on it too.
Which makes little things like Kagome going out of her way to cook him homemade food or preparing little picnics for the two of them, the Higurashis inviting him to stay for dinner and the Inugang all eating together as a family even more special, because it's something he was deprived of ever since Izayoi died.

Thanksgiving ~ an Inuyasha one-shot
Rating: G
Summary: He was a mysterious painter whose fame seemed to take the island country by storm. He went where he wanted, spoke not a word of who his patrons were, and cared little for the hefty sums he was offered if the commission was not to his liking. What portraits he did create however, were uncannily realistic and sought after by the elite.

"Incredible! The lines, the colour! It's as if the painting is alive."
"You exceed your reputation, Higurashi-san."
He inclined his head respectfully at the gracious compliments directed at him. Across the room sat the latest of his finished paintings, a grand portrait of the lord and lady of the house.
"On top of producing a simply magnificent piece, however did you manage to complete it so quickly?" The lord clapped him on the shoulder. "Youth these days, hah, makes an old man feel his age."
"We were expecting you to work through the mid-autumn celebrations. Will you stay regardless, Higurashi-san? We would be honoured."
"My lady, I'm afraid I must decline your generous offer." He bowed deeply and as he rose he gave the mature noblewoman such a charming smile that Miroku would've been proud of him. "I travel home for the harvest every year."
"Ah, your parents live far?"
He paused, but just for a half-second. "My family is in Musashi."
This time, the smile that graced the young man's attractive features was soft and adoring. The resulting effect made the lady attendants in the room collectively swoon.
The rumours about the elusive artist from the capital boasted of his talents, but proved sorely lacking in regard to his winsome looks.
After exchanging a few more rounds of pleasantries, his hosts sent him off with an abundance of provisions for the journey ahead and almost double the initial agreement for his services.
Carrying this and his tall satchel of papers, brushes and pigments, the mysterious painter left the mountain fief, heading alone on foot into the dark forests beyond.
When he was properly lost in the thickness of the trees, the slim silhouette shimmered and morphed. What he lost in height was compensated by the addition of lush, tan tails swishing in sync with his steps.
His clothing stayed the same luminous turquoise and cream, colours much too bright to belong to a fledgling craftsman, but his clients assumed he came from wealth.
He did make a lot of human money though. Could probably make more if he wanted to, but he only painted what and who caught his fancy. Perhaps it was odd that someone of his nature would go through the trouble to acquire real coin, but believe it or not, sometimes he liked to trade with money that didn't turn back into leaves. Especially if he liked the people he bought things from.
Besides, he enjoyed painting. It was a talent he'd developed at a young age courtesy of Kagome.
Speaking of, he paused in his steps and carefully patted around the folds of clothing across his chest until he found what he was looking for.
With utmost care, claw-tipped fingers unfolded the now fragile paper, creases well-worn from years of handling, kept against his chest through all the tumbles he's had growing up.
There, scrawled slightly off-center by a juvenile hand was a group portrait. The medium it was drawn in will not be invented until many years in the future.
There on the left was a purple blob of a man with a stumpy black pony tail. Beside him, the nekomata and taijiya looked very gallant indeed. On the right, stood a girl with a wide smile beside a red and silver blob with triangle ears. In the middle of them all was a tiny kitsune with disproportionately big fangs and only one tail at the time.
Shippo smiled, tracing the outlines of the figures with the tips of his fingers.
His mates at the kitsune village used to tease him about his human sensibilities and made fun of him whenever they caught him looking at this drawing. He'd shown them who was boss eventually, besting even his seniors at the final examination.
What was so wrong with him being sentimental? His family was mostly human after all.
A fact that was becoming more and more apparent each year he returned home for the harvest celebration. While he was growing into his prime, his found family was entering their twilight years. Time had weathered their faces and bent their backs, but their smiles only grew brighter.
Kagome still cooed and praised him incessantly each time he presented her with a new painting, as if the walls of her home were not already fully saturated. Inuyasha still pretended to threaten a beating if he was being too cheeky, although lately he'd been careful not to overdo it when they play-wrestled. Just in case.
Hanyou, or at least Inuyasha, seemed to have inherited his human parent's rate of aging. A fact that, while it pained him if he dwelled too much on it, Shippo was grateful for. The three years of Kagome's absence had made it clear that all Inuyasha wanted in this life was to grow old with her.
That he was doing. And together, raised some of his favourite people, who, in all the things that mattered, were his siblings.
Shaking off the sudden nostalgia, Shippo tucked the portrait safely back into its designated pocket and bounded off towards the village he called home.

ASCENDED
WHY DOES THIS LOOK BETTER THAN THE FIC WITH BUDGET
LOOK AT THEM
Edit: I just realized that Kikyo and the kids + Jaken look like they just arrived on Ah-Un because Jaken and Rin are running towards Sessh with Kikyo in toe while Kohaku was just getting off when the shot was taken lol

I find it satisfying that Inuyasha's story, when it comes to love, is bookended by him first being willing to sacrifice for someone and then in the end someone else choosing to sacrifice for him.
And this is not Kikyo bashing, I'm not here for that. Kikyo was young and suffering and in her mind, asking Inuyasha to become human was the best solution for them both. She would have been free of her duty, and he would have had a place - with her, in her village, as a human. It doesn't mean she didn't love him. You can love someone and still hurt them -- both things can be true. And choosing to give up who he was would have hurt him. There's no getting around that.
"But Inuyasha said yes!" Of course he did. He's the hanyou. In his mind, he's the one who doesn't fit anywhere. The one who shouldn't exist. If anyone should change, if anyone should sacrifice, it should be him.
And he continues to sacrifice. He swears himself to the duty of protecting Kikyo, not letting himself dream of any other kind of future until that duty to her is fulfilled. And then there's Kagome -- right there, who realizes and accepts that this is his choice, and asks nothing of him except that he let her stay by his side anyway. Even if it hurts her. And it does.
Inuyasha never asks her to stay. Quite the opposite in fact -- multiple times, he suggests it may be better, safer, for her to stay in her own time. She consistently refuses. And then, at the end, she gives up that time entirely. For him. He never asked her to do it, and she does it anyway. And it's not just giving up safety, the future she thought she'd have, modern medicine and comfort -- it's giving up her family, her mother, her brother, her grandfather.
And of course she loves her found family in the feudal era as well. Shippo, Sango, Miroku, Kaede, they're all important to her. But that's not why she made her choice. She made it for him. She made it for all of him - the demon, the human, the hanyou. How incomprehensible such a thing must be, for the boy who belonged nowhere.
All she asked of him was to let her stay. With him, just as he was. And in the end, that's how they both found their happiness. Because he let her -- and he let himself have it, at last.

Future
They'd all cracked into the fortune cookie Kagome had in her bag. She'd thrown a fistful into her bag a couple of days ago and passed them out to the growing group.
Her eyes watched everyone, waiting for their questions.
"Hmm," she heard Shippo thinking, "Forgive those that speak before thinking." He turned to a munching Inuyasha, "Sorry you're dumb."
"EH," Inuyasha seethed, "Come here ya runt!"
Kagome sighed, "Your family will grow by leaps and bounds."
Sango blushed madly as Miroku's eyebrows wiggled, "Sango, my love-"
She smacked him and walked away, red as a tomato.
She read her own to herself, 'A future full of love awaits you.' She scoffed a bit, "Right..." She looked at her side, he'd yet to say anything, "What does your's say?"
He turned the small slip of paper away, "Hn, you will know regarding in time." She pouted as he slipped the scrap into his haori and folded his arms, watching the kit run from his idiot of a brother.
She smiled to herself, "I guess I'll have to wait for what the future holds."
Who knows indeed.

Inuvember 2023 Part 1
In honor of @inuvember InuKag Day, the Archive Mods have put together a 30 item InuKag recommendation list: one InuKag fic per prompt. Since this list is longer than our usual, we've split it into two parts. Enjoy!
Day 1 Inuyasha
I Hate That Fucking Well by @kstewdeux (M)
Post-manga. Inuyasha POV. Inuyasha's inner thoughts and monologues. Rated M for fucking language
Day 2 Kagome
Cinnamon Hearts by @fandomobsessions016 (M)
"So, you may be wondering, what’s this story about anyway? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s about how this queen, almost lost her crown, her throne, but worst of all… it’s about how this queen almost lost her king…
Hindsight, of course, has perfect vision, but at the time I did not. I was a girl becoming a woman who fought bitterly against change that was inevitable. I didn’t want to open my eyes. I didn’t want to see what was right in front of me.
What I wanted more than anything was to keep Inuyasha.
High school forced my eyes open, tested our “unshakable” bond and made me confront my biggest fear. All because…
I caught feelings for my best friend.
I like-liked my king."
Day 3 Sango
Forever Home by KittyKatz (M)
How long had he roamed the earth in a form that was not his? Beaten, dirty and caged, he finds one last bit of fortune when she comes to rescue him from this place. But his road to redemption will not be easy. And he will find, that no matter how the world has changed, his old enemy remains. And this time, they plan to destroy him once and for all.
Day 4 Miroku
Under the Northern Lights by @lostinfantasyworlds (E)
Kagome Higurashi has her dream job, working as a photographer for the internationally well-known Yugen magazine. Her career whisks her all around the world, leaving her feeling lonely sometimes but mostly just incredibly grateful to be doing what she loves. When she gets assigned to Alaska for a month to photograph a series of celestial events, she runs into Inuyasha, a half-demon who lives on his own in the middle of nowhere. A mutual attraction draws them to each other, but Kagome's time there is limited. Will giving in to their desire lead to love or heartbreak?
Day 5 Shippo
Oh, But You're Good To Me by @witchygirl99 (E)
It’s a terrible photo, really. The action figure takes up the entire bottom of the screen and part of both of their faces. Shippo’s giggling though, eyes shut and crinkled in his mirth while Inuyasha looks at him. His expression is clearly fond. It’s the softest Inuyasha has ever, ever seen himself.
This is fatherhood, he thinks a little wildly.
He sends the photo to Kagome.
Inuyasha is a single father. Shippo is his adopted son. Kagome isn't supposed to be in the picture, but somehow, she returns anyways. A story about family, love, and all of its obstacles.
Day 6 Sesshomaru
Whispers in the Wind by @ruddcatha (G)
It has been 500 years since Kagome jumped back down the well to be with Inuyasha. A messenger waits to see her family, and is joined by a surprising guest.
Day 7 Rin
My Life Before You by @len-barboza (E) -- based on a story by Mizune-mei
No English language summary provided.
Day 8 Kikyou
Stolen Soul by Kimberly-A (T)
COMPLETE Kikyo uses a spell to exchange bodies with Kagome, leaving Kagome stuck in the dead shell and Kikyo comfortably human. In the aftermath, Inu-Yasha faces difficult choices. InuKag, not very Kikyo-friendly.
Day 9 Koga
A New Moon, A New Start by @pinestripes (T)
Kouga visits the village near the Sacred Tree. On this particular evening, he finds that a certain half-demon is more on edge than usual.
Day 10 Kagura
The Portal Between Worlds by @neutronstarship (E)
Ten years ago, a portal transported Inuyasha from the demon realm to the human realm. Now a half-demon alone in a world he doesn't understand, he will do anything to get home. When Onigumo brings him a book with all the answers, Inuyasha pushes aside his misgivings and works with the man. He just wants to get home, after all.
Kagome just wants to make an extra buck (and find demons), much to Kikyo’s chagrin. That is why she published Demons Among Us! after all. But strange things start happening when she puts the book online. As if people are using it to open the portals that it hypothesized… When Kagura and Sango join the fray, the stakes grow higher as they try to find the source of the portals.
When Inuyasha encounters Kagome, fate is not what it seems. Not one, but two realms are in danger for their survival. What happens when the final portal opens and an unknowable terror is unleashed? Can the Demon Hunters save the world?
Day 11 Naraku
You Rescued Me by @keizfanfiction (E)
Maybe it was fate that he decided to take the back way home that night, but whatever the reason, Inuyasha was grateful for arriving just in the nick of time to rescue a waif of a woman who had clearly been through hell. He never would have imagined that she would end up rescuing him, too.
Day 12 Band of Seven
Delicate by @akitokihojo (T)
To trust someone, to let them in, what an unsettling ordeal. Kagome is easy and safe, and Inuyasha is difficult and guarded. She can put him at ease with a smile, simultaneously setting him on edge. It was nothing until it was something, creating absolute chaos and uncertainty within the both of them.
Day 13 Jinenji/ Shiori
How Does Your Garden Grow? by @dawnrider (M)
An Ingary-esque AU: Kagome, the newest generation of caretakers of the Higurashi House, finally starts to feel like her garden and business is thriving with the help of her friend Jinenji. Their routine is thrown off by the arrival of an injured visitor who does not want to be found...
Day 14 Toga
Taisho School of Acting: A Quick Guide by @jeremymarsh (G)
“Excuse me, what?” Kagome looked at her best friend with eyes as big as saucers, lips parted, and her mind replaying what he had said a moment before – trying to find a sense but to no avail.
“You heard me.” Inuyasha scowled, looking down, arms crossed and lips pouting, just like he did every time he didn’t like the topic at hand. The problem was he had started it this time.
“Yeah, I did.” Kagome shook her head and inhaled deeply before she continued. “And that’s why I’m asking you to repeat yourself since I’m having problems believing that certain sentences left your mouth.”
“I said,” Inuyasha started through clenched teeth, still not meeting her gaze, “come to my family Christmas dinner this Sunday.” He stopped, ran a hand through his silver mane, closed his eyes, murmured something unintelligible and then added: “As my girlfriend.”
Where Inuyasha tries to fool his parents and miserably fails.
Day 15 Izayoi
The Silence of Daisies by Fierywenchxo (T)
Inuyasha shares with Kagome one of the biggest secrets he's ever kept. One-shot.

One casual detail I really appreciate is that Inuyasha wasn’t alone during the three years Kagome was away. Miroku, Sango, and Kaede were concerned for him, Shippo was pestering him, Kin-Gyo goofin' off with him while MirSan hangs their laundry...
Kagome not being there was a bummer but no worries. At least he had his found family to look out for him (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Hear me out
Shippo wasn't useless. I just saw a reddit post about how useless Shippo was.
To me, the show wasn't all about kicking demons arses and collecting shards. It was about family and the value of relationships in and outside family bonds.
The way i see it, he made the group stick together like a second family. Think about it, two pairs of teenagers that are attracted to each other, it would have maybe fallen apart faster for "selfish" reasons. Kagome tends to run after arguing with Inuyasha, or needs to go to school, Inuyasha had unresolved issues with Kikyo, his brother, Sango had to save her brother from dying and being taken away from Naraku, and Miroku is a monk and a thief who has womanizing tendencies, but also had a hole in his hand he had to cure. They had a lot on their shoulders
So, they all had a reason to ditch the group for major personal unresolved reasons. And shippo lowkey made the group feel like a family. When a member of the team is away, shippo is the closest thing as a little brother to pretty much everyone in the bunch.

Sid, why do you think people think Kagome is “so annoying” and “whiny?” How exactly did she earn this reputation among her (rather dumb) haters.
The world is not kind to 15 years old girls, and what is Kagome, if not the perfect representation of one?
People forgot they can dislike a character just because and then move on. They'd rather grasp at straws to try and justify themselves, that way they can pretend they're being rational about the constant hate they're spreading when, truthfully, they're just being miserable.
Kagome specifically is in even greater disadvantage because her critics are, mostly, people who haven't read the source material and are instead basing their takes on a biased adaptation – which they probably watched ages before developping any critical skills – or people who see her as a threat to their ship and therefore are already prone to hate her.
The first group won't ever bother going out of their way to try and get a better grasp of her character by reading a 558 chapters long manga and the second group won't change their minds either way.
That's why they call her out for using the beads of subjugation even if: it wasn't her idea in the first place, it served to balance her relationship with Inuyasha at the beginning – since he was powerful and violent while she wasn't –, the rosary became a symbol of their bond, it saved Inuyasha a couple of times and he was always more annoyed than hurt by it, not to mention Sunrise blowing it out of proportion compared to the manga.
You never see Inuyasha getting bashed for hitting Shippo every other episode or Sango getting any heat for constantly slapping Miroku, because funnily enough people seem to understand it was just dumb, outdated, slapstick comedy, a courtesy they refuse to extend to Kagome.
That's also the reason they call her “annoying” and “whiny”: Kagome’s most important lesson was that it's okay to have feelings, so naturally they twisted that into a bad thing in order to keep hating on her. It's not about how her character was written, it's about people using of bad faith and deliberately mischaracterizing Kagome to pass their internalized misogyny as valid criticism.
I know part of the issue is that audiences nowadays are under the impression that for a female character to be strong, she can't cry or be feminine, but you don't see anyone hating on Sango even though she does cry and she can be as feminine as Kagome depending on the circunstances and on her mood.
The truth is that Kagome is playing a game she can never win, because the refs have decided they want her to lose before the match even starts.
If she stands up and sets boundaries for herself, she's annoying. If she doesn't, she's a doormat. If she feels jealousy, she's a bitch. If she shows kindness, she's boring. If she fights, she's overpowered. If she doesn't, she's useless. If any other character cries, it's heartbreaking. If she cries, she's whiny.
If she goes back to her own world, she's selfish. If she leaves that world behind to live the life she wants for herself, she's a stupid girl who left her family for a boy. If she does something grand, that's only because she's someone else's reincarnation. If she messes something up, the fault is hers and hers alone. She is, somehow, simultaneously a Mary Sue and a toxic abuser.
I've personally seen people slut shaming her because she got hitted on by Koga. I've personally seen people call her a "pick me" girl. Kagome. A pick me girl. Kagome.
And none of this is fair, because she is the kind of character who does her best to see the good in others, to understand the reasons why they act the way they do and to offer them some grace, but she gets very little of that in return, be it in canon, be it in fandom.
They always hold her up to such an impossible standard, but they completely forget to ask themselves: would the characters I stan be able to match the expectations I set for Kagome? Scratch that: would the characters I stan even be able to deal with things the way Kagome managed to do? Would I? The answer is most likely no, so how about cutting her a slack?
You ask me how did she earn this reputation among her rather dumb haters, my answer is: she didn't. They're just incapable of understanding that if a particular nuanced, well written, female character is not their cup of tea, they can simply ignore her and focus their attention on the characters they do like instead of spreading their baseless, misogynistic takes on the internet.

Inuyasha and Sesshomaru stared at one another, the wind blowing their hair and clothing in the wind along with the grass and the trees, they said nothing for a while, sizing each other up. Then, Sesshomaru broke the silence but not the tension. “Inuyasha, you’ve approached me in your human form. How atrocious.” He sneered. Inuyasha scoffed. “Humph, you damn right I did, I heard that you only come to visit Mom when it’s the new moon.” He said in a cocky voice, he was already mentally prepared for Sesshomaru to see him in such a form, so he doesn’t care. Sesshomaru shot back. “And what’s it to you? Last I checked you never even visit the woman, so much for a son.” He fired.
Inuyasha growled at Sesshomaru’s words. “Well I’m here now, and I’m not going anywhere until I get some damn answers, Sesshomaru.” He said, determination in his voice. Sesshomaru stared at him for a moment before he stepped forward, Inuyasha steeled his resolve before he stepped forward as well. They walked towards one another, until they were just a few feet apart. They stared each other down for a moment before Sesshomaru spoke. “You want answers, yet you can’t even answer the fact that you never visited, half-breed.” He shot.
“Humph, I had my reasons for not coming by, but why have you been visiting? She’s got nothing to do with you.” He said in a defensive tone. Sesshomaru huffed in false amusement. “Ha, don’t make me laugh, you barely even know the woman, how can you question my visiting when you didn’t even try.” He said. Inuyasha snarled at him. “Get off my back, I couldn't do anything about that, I was asleep for 50 years, how could I?”
He defended himself, his fist clenching in frustration. Sesshomaru nearly smirked but his face stayed unreadable, he then immediately shot back. “How pathetic.” He said in a disgusted voice. Inuyasha’s eyes widen. “Wh-what?” Inuyasha questioned. Sesshomaru continued on. “You're a disgrace of a man, what kind of a pathetic excuse is that? You’ve been freed by that human woman for quite some time now, you could’ve made an appearance, but you wanted to play ‘pet’ with two human women.” He said in a lecturing tone.
Inuyasha was left speechless, he didn’t know how to defend himself, all he could do was drop his head as he silently cursed himself. Sesshomaru observed him for a moment before his stare seemed to harden slightly. “You dare come out to me, in this pitiful state, and order me to give you answers? Preposterous. You’re a bigger fool than I thought you were, Inuyasha.” He degraded. When Inuyasha never gave an answer, Sesshomaru lost his hard glare and he closed his eyes in a dismissive matter, before he walked forward, stalking past Inuyasha.
He barely got 5 steps past him before Inuyasha called out to him. “WAIT!” He called out. Sesshomaru stopped, his eyes opened, but he never turned towards him. Inuyasha took his pause as his moment to speak. “Instead of lecturing me, can ya just give me an answer to my question?” He asked in an annoyed voice. Sesshomaru stayed silent, and Inuyasha growled, he opened his mouth to complain but Sesshomaru spoke up. “My business with her has nothing to do with you, but ask your pointless question, and if I deem it fit, I’ll give an answer.” He said.
Inuyasha studied his back for a moment before he asked his question. “Why do you come to visit? She told me it was because you wanted answers to Tessaiga, but now you have your answers, so why bother to still come by?” He asked. The silence between them stretched on for a moment, the tension was high, yet it remained suspiciously unreadable, but it wasn’t a good kind of tension.
Sesshomaru suddenly started walking again, seeming to disregard Inuyasha’s question. Inuyasha glared at his brother’s back. “SESSHOMARU!! ANSWER MY DAMN QUESTION!!” He shouted in anger, his fists clench in frustration, he was powerless to beat the answer out of Sesshomaru, so he was just forced to yell, but he was shocked when Sesshomaru’s voice suddenly rang out to him. “You already know the answer, I’m sure she already told you, about our history.” He said as he walked. Inuyasha stared after him in wonderment, thinking over his words.
“I already know? What the hell does that mean?” He asked himself aloud, he refocused on Sesshomaru once more, noticing that he was beginning to vanish into the darkness. “HEY!! COME BACK AND EXPLAIN DAMMNIT!!” He shouted as he gave chase after him. Sesshomaru kept his same pace, it was slow to him, but it was causing Inuyasha to huff in exhaustion. “Wait, dammit Sesshomaru.” He huffed as he leaned against a tree, he silently cursed his human body as he stared at Sesshomaru. Once he got his breath back he gave chase once more.
They kept up this chase for a while, Sesshomaru never sped up, and Inuyasha kept having to stop but he wasn’t stopping as much as he was when the chase began. Eventually, Sesshomaru stopped in a clearing of the woods, the wind blowing his garments and hair back, as he seemed to stare at nothing. Inuyasha huffed, as he entered the clearing with Sesshomaru. He stood there for a moment, a tired glare in his eyes as he stared at Sesshomaru. They stayed in their spots for a moment longer, before Inuyasha walked over towards him.
“Sesshomaru, you’re an ass in a half, ya know that?” He huffed out an insult as he walked next to Sesshomaru, but he kept some distance from him. He glared at Sesshomaru a little longer, before he stared towards where Sesshomaru seemed to be in a trance. His eyes slightly widen when he saw his childhood home. “The hell? Why are we here?” He asked. Sesshomaru’s eyes slightly lowered in annoyance but he remained calm. “Shut up, and watch.” He ordered. Inuyasha looked over at him in question before he looked back at the hut. They watched as they seem you exit the home. You stretched your arms high above your head before you walked outwards from your home.
“It’s mom, what is she doing out here for?” Inuyasha asked as he watched you. Sesshomaru never gave an answer, but instead, he kept on watching so Inuyasha did the same. They watched as you walked into the field until you suddenly crouched. You seemed to be doing something. Inuyasha stared on a little more before he shot Sesshomaru a septic stare. “You’ve been watching her? What are ya, some kind of creep? I would expect this from Miroku, but not from you Sesshomaru.” He accused as he stared at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru almost rolled his eyes at Inuyasha’s words.
“Be quiet you fool.” He said in an annoyed voice. Inuyasha stared at him questionably before he looked back over toward you. You stood back up, what seemed to be flowers bunched up in your hands, they were beautiful white flowers, that seemed to glow. You then walked back to your hut, once in front of it, you sat down on a little bench, the flowers still in your hands. Inuyasha blinked as he stared on. “What am I supposed to learn, asshat?” He shot in annoyance. Sesshomaru suddenly began to walk forward, never answering Inuyasha’s question.
Inuyasha watched him with a confused stare, before he huffed, placed his hands in his sleeves, and silently followed Sesshomaru. The closer they got, the more they could make out the loving smile on your face. You suddenly looked up, spotting Sesshomaru and surprisingly Inuyasha. You blinked in shock and confusion before your smile grew joyous. Inuyasha stared at your smile, he had never seen that look on your face before. It was joy, but it was more happier than joy.
You scooted over on the bench till you were in the middle of it and you patted both spots on either side of you. “Sesshomaru, Inuyasha. I am so happy that you both came down together to visit me.” You happily said. Inuyasha was confused, he stopped walking when Sesshomaru did. Your smile never left your face, and Sesshomaru spoke up. “You seem to be fairing well, hahaoya.” He said in his usual monotone voice, but his eyes shined fondness. Inuyasha stepped back in shock at Sesshomaru’s words. “Huh!?” He confusingly called. He went unnoticed by you and Sesshomaru.
Your eyes widen at his words. Disbelief on your face from what you heard, your breathing was shaky and your hands shook as they came up to clench together in front of your fluttering heart. “Yes, I have been very well, On.” You shakily said as you smiled. Inuyasha stared dumbfounded at the exchange. Sesshomaru walked towards you, he took a seat next to you on the bench, making you smile at him warmly. You looked over at Inuyasha, seeing his confusion and you chuckled. “Come, come. Sit here, Inuyasha.” You said as you patted the spot next to you. He remained frozen for a moment longer before he came back to his senses.
“What the hell is going on?” He asked in irritation as he glared at you both. You and Sesshomaru stared up at him for a moment in silence before Sesshomaru closed his eyes and you giggled. “HEY!! DON’T IGNORE ME!!” He shouted as his fingers twitched. You stared at him with a sweet stare. “Come and sit, Inuyasha, it’s a joyous night after all.” You said, your voice was cheerful. Inuyasha’s glare left and it was replaced with a shocked face. “But… why?” He asked. Sesshomaru stared up at Inuyasha, an amused gleam in his eyes. “Yes, little brother, come join hahaoya and I.” He teased. You cheer at his words as you wrapped your arms around Sesshomaru’s arm.
Inuyasha glared heatedly at Sesshomaru before he huffed and he pointed an accusing finger at Sesshomaru. “I don’t know what you’re up to, but I’m on to you, Sesshomaru!!” He said in a defensive voice. Sesshomaru turned his face away from Inuyasha, but he remained silent. In his defense, you glare at Inuyasha. “Would you stop and just sit down already!!” You scolded, Inuyasha backed away in slight fear but he grumbled and sat down next to you.
You smiled once more when he finally sat down. You all sat in silence, just… enjoying each other's presence. But it didn’t last long before a slightly stronger wind blew, causing your flowers to be blown from your lap. “OH NO!! MY FLOWERS!!” You shouted in panic as they were blown away by the wind. You were so happy to finally be able to cuddle with Sesshomaru, that you forgot to hold them down. “Oh...” You sighed sadly as they went up into the air. Inuyasha stared on along with Sesshomaru, they watched your flowers blow into sky, watching as they seemed to blend into the starry sky.
Inuyasha spoke up. “Don’t worry, you can always pick more.” He said, trying to comfort your worries over the flowers, but it only seemed to make you sadder as you sank into your seat. “No, they only bloom on the night of the new moon…. And those were the only ones that bloom around here.” You explained as you sighed sadly. Inuyasha stared at you a little longer before he looked up at the flowers that blew away. Your hold onto Sesshomaru’s arm loosen as you placed your hands in your lap, Sesshomaru briefly glanced at you before he looked back up towards the flowers, his gaze narrowed and he stood up.
Both you and Inuyasha looked up at him in question. “Sesshomaru?” You questioned, but he never answered as he suddenly shot off into the air. Both you and Inuyasha stared on in shock and confusion as he flew up toward the flowers. You stared on in wonderment while Inuyasha scoffed and he snatched his head off. “Tch, showoff.” He muttered. Once all the flowers were captured by Sesshomaru, he gracefully floated down, he landed a few feet away from you both.
You stayed seated, and watch patiently as he walked towards you and Inuyasha. He presented the flowers to you, they were in perfect condition, and they seemed to glow even brighter in his hand. Your eyes studied their brightness, and you gave a knowing smile before you grabbed them gently from his hold. “Thank you, Sesshomaru.” You kindly thanked him. He said nothing as he closed his eyes and he quietly took his seat next to you once more.
Inuyasha glared over at him before he looked away and huffed. You smiled down at your flowers, the glow from them seemed to dim before they lightened again. Inuyasha looked over at the flowers in confusion. “Why are they doing that?” He asked. You smiled at his question. “They’re reacting to Sesshomaru’s touch.” You explained, this seemed to catch Sesshomaru’s attention as he too looked at the flowers. “But why? If anything they should’ve shriveled up and died.” He said with an unimpressed look on his face. Sesshomaru scoffed at his words before he asked you a question.
“Why did they react?” He asked, you stared down at the flowers watching their whiteness brighten and fade. “Because they’re reacting to your heart. It would seem that you’re opening up more and more to your Father’s wishes for you.” You explained. Sesshoaru’s and Inuyasha’s eyes widen at your words. You all remained silent after that, watching the flowers pulse. They both seemed to be in a trance, each lost in their own worlds. They suddenly stopped pulsing and Inuyasha blinked. “Why’d they stop?” He asked, he almost sounded disappointed at the fact.
“Because the main source isn’t directing touching them anymore.” You explained. Inuyasha gave a sly look towards Sesshomaru, but his brother seemed to sense him as he turned his face away from him. The silence was broken by you. “These are demon flowers. They’re known as Heiwa Lily, they adsorb overwhelming feelings. Such as Love, Sadness, and Hatred. They only adsorb demonic energy.” You further explained.
They both quietly listened to your words, Sesshomaru’s eyes narrowed slightly. “If they can only adsorb demonic emotions, why do they bloom on the night of the new moon?” Inuyasha asked. You smiled. “Because they don’t want to accidentally absorb the energy of a half-demon.” You explained. Inuyasha looked over at you in curiosity. “Damn, even the damn flowers are picky?” He asked in annoyance as he glared at the flowers.
Sesshomaru huffed in amusement and Inuyasha instantly glared at him. “What’s so funny?” He said. Sesshomaru closed his eyes. “Nothing is humorous, just that even the flowers know when a filthy half-breed is in the area.” He said. A vein bulged on Inuyasha’s fist as he glared at Seshomaru with pure rage. “Why you?” He said in an angered tone. Sesshomaru’s eyes opened and he looked over at Inuyasha. “Got something to say, human?” He asked, a tease in his tune. “You bet I do, and this human is gonna kick your royal ass!!” Inuyasha said in anger as he cracked his knuckles. Sesshomaru grew a challenging glare in his eyes as he stared at Inuyasha. “I’d like to see you get one hit in.” He said.
Inuyasha growled and Sesshomaru glared, you sighed sadly at their antics. “So much for a story.” You sadly said, as the sound of punches landing on skin sounded out and Inuyasha cried out in pain. ‘A-HAOW!!!!” He shouted. Sesshomaru scoffed. “Hmph, pitiful, I barely even grazed you.” He taunted. Inuyasha shouted back. “YEAH RIGHT!!! YOU DAMN NEAR KILLED ME!!” He shouted. Sesshomaru remained silent for a moment before he spoke again. “You’re exaggerating.” He stated. “HAH!?” Inuyasha said. “Hmph, If I had actually tried, I promise you that you wouldn’t still be breathing.” He claimed. “WHY YOU!!!” Inuyasha shouted,
You smiled as you listened to their bantering, the flowers seemed to brighten, soaking in the energy emitting from Sesshomaru. ‘He’s so content, till he doesn’t even notice his demonic energy leaking out.’ You thought as you watched the flowers glow to nearly a blinding white before they began to disintegrate, they turned into purple lights, that floated up into the sky like fireflies. You watched as they floated off into the sky. ‘For the first time, in a long time. Sesshomaru is surrounded by family.’ You thought, as your heart bloomed with love. You sighed happily as you leaned back, causing the brothers to halt in their bantering.
They looked down at you in curiosity, watching you closely. “I’m so happy. Both of my boys are here, together, for the first time ever.” You said in a soft voice, as you smiled. Inuyasha smiled at you while Sesshomaru’s eyes soften. All was quiet after that, as you all three for the first time, just enjoyed each other's company.

Inukag Week 2023: Day 2: Possession
@inukag-week
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Day 7
AO3
Fanfiction
It wasn’t until Kagome had met and spent a lot of time with Inuyasha that she realized how lucky she was growing up. Sure, she had known she had a good homelife, a loving family, and a future to look forward to.
Inuyasha had nothing but the clothes on his back and the chips on his shoulder.
The first time Inuyasha curled up and fell asleep on her bed, Kagome wanted to let him stay there forever. He seemed to just melt into the soft comforter, his face relaxing off the harshness that normally sat there. He seemed to just be a normal teenage boy in that moment, rather than the harsh and difficult half-demon he was when he was awake.
If Kagome could have given him that peace for the rest of his life, she would have in a heartbeat.
But as with everything, it came to an end that he was sleeping peacefully and quietly on that bed and the real world came knocking and demanded they return to the quest that engulfed their every moment.
The desire to give him everything didn’t disappear with the morning sun, however.
At some point, Inuyasha had become very comfortable with seizing anything and everything of hers and using to his own means. Sleeping bag? Now his for sitting on when camping outside until she made him get off for her to sleep. Books? A source of entertainment (sometimes kindling) for when he wanted to annoy her. Clothes? Those worked great for drying off or wiping sweat off his face, even if they were still on her body and he was just flat out rubbing his forehead on her. Shoes? Ah, perfect for throwing at the crows that gathered on Kaede’s roof. Fifty-fifty if he got them down without her having to ask him.
Kagome found herself specifically looking for things they could share. He had a favorite pair of chopsticks that once were hers, so she got another set. His long hair required softer elastic band on hair ties, so she got scrunchies and clips for them to use when bathing. He preferred open-mouth water bottles to straws, so she got rid of her original one to get a big one they could share.
There was a time when she would have been mortified at the thought of sharing every single thing in her life, but just like how Inuyasha had melded into her bed that night, they blended together.
What was hers was his, and vice versa.
It was so natural after a while, that not even having it pointed out to them would cause them to blush or deny it.
“Less to carry if we share more.” Kagome had said once to Kaede as Inuyasha chugged the entirety of the very large water jug. “It just makes sense.”
Shippo had all of his own things, so it perhaps didn’t actually make sense. She carried a special water bottle, utensils, pillow, soap, crayons, and just about anything else for the little boy. It was the same for Miroku and Sango, who each had their own designated items in her pack.
It was just Inuyasha that she shared everything with.
Soon physical possessions weren’t just the only thing the two teens shared. Inuyasha started to share her successes at school and joined in on studying with her, despite not finding much use for it. It helped her a lot to have another person to talk to, even if it was just grunting red clad boy who knew nothing about theoretical math.
Miroku had tried to help her study, and he was great for history and religious topics, however laying on her stomach next to a lounging half-demon seemed to be the best way for her to work through math equations.
Tapping his shoulder, Kagome commanded his attention to her homework. “Is that a three or eight?” The dim lighting from the fire prevented her from being able to fully make it out. She could if she scooted closer, but it was more convenient to take advantage of Inuyasha’s better eyesight. He drew an eight in the air with his finger.
“To the power of eight?!” Kagome collapsed onto her arm in exasperation. “How am I supposed to figure that out?”
“Write it out.” Inuyasha had no idea what a power of eight was, but he knew what he was supposed to say when the numbers came out. Mama Higurashi had taught him.
Sighing loudly, Kagome rearranged herself onto her elbows and started writing out the equation. Inuyasha felt a surge of pride at being helpful to her, even if he had no idea how it all worked. He didn’t quite get why she was so certain she needed school, but if it was important to her, it was important to him to.
After all, they shared everything.
Including hopes and dreams, he realized one day when in a heated spat with Miroku over Kagome. He had pressed about their future together, insinuating that they should just hurry up and get married. He and Sango had to wait after all, until the curse was lifted, but no such restrictions were on Kagome and Inuyasha.
Inuyasha had huffed and snarled out, “She wants to go to high school. It’s important to her to graduate.”
Miroku had a blank look cross his face. “What does that mean, exactly?” the monk asked.
Inuyasha felt a sense of embarrassment overcome him. He didn’t know exactly what it meant to graduate. “It means…” he scrambled for words. “…she’s finished her school.”
“What’s next for her?”
Inuyasha wanted to strangle the man walking alongside him to fetch water for Kaede. “She wants to finish school and…” his jaw worked hard as he processed if he wanted to tell Miroku what he knew or what. For some reason, the thought that it might deter further questions. “Have a career and raise dogs. Maybe get married but that’s not important to her.”
Miroku nodded as if he understood. Clearly, he did not. “What is a career?”
“Something you do until you’re old.” Souta’s basic explanation was all he knew of the topic.
“Like being a priestess?” Miroku’s eyes wandered over to look at Inuyasha’s profile. It was bright red.
Inuyasha huffed loudly. Miroku took that as a yes, so he continued to prod. “What’s this about dogs?”
“Dogs are her favorite animal and she wants to have a bunch when she’s older.” Inuyasha answered without thinking. “It’s not common to have a lot of dogs, but with the shrine grounds, she can, so she wants to rescue them from living on the street or bad homes.”
Miroku paused for a moment, calculating his next question. “Like how she rescued you?”
Inuyasha stopped walking suddenly, causing the monk to get just a few paces ahead. Miroku tried to gauge if he had gone a step too far. Inuyasha seemed frozen eyes straight ahead for what felt like forever, and Miroku was just about to tell Inuyasha to forget his comment and change topics when Inuyasha spoke.
“Yeah.”
Miroku finally turned his body to look at his friend and see a softness cross his features. He started walking again forward, quietly whispering, “Except this time, we’re going to do the rescuing together.”
Because, after all, they shared far more than just possessions.
