Fellow inukagger here *shakes your hand* I noticed your tags on an inuyasha video edit post where you stated inuyasha was seeing kagome during their almost first-kiss. I want to believe this soo badly, but I have actually made a post where I argue the opposite bc that’s (unfortunately) my interpretation.
I would genuinely love to hear why you think this as I’m more than happy to be convinced 🥺❤️ If you’ve posted about it before, apologies that I haven’t seen it; please kindly drop a link.

Sure thing! I think there's a lot of misconception firstly because Kagome herself says this. That he hates her for looking like Kikyou, but when he looked at her in that moment, it looked loving, so she herself put two and two together that he must still be seeing her as Kikyou, but therefore have been in love with Kikyou. Which is partially true in that we know he did have feelings for her back when she was alive. (I have my own InuKik-critical perception on this, but that's a whole other rant and probably not what you're asking.) But I think it's VERY important to keep in mind that Kagome is an Unreliable Narrator in her own story here, particularly where it comes to interpreting Inuyasha's feelings at times. This holds true for pretty much the entire story, but particularly early on, when she doesn't know him as well.
First off, I'm going to fast-forward slightly to give examples of Inuyasha himself making it clear he does NOT see Kagome as Kikyou, to prove my point that he's not lying when he tells her so at the almost-kiss. Keep in mind a lot of these are only available in the source material and the anime DID cut them to fuel love triangle drama. The manga is the original intended canon, so that's what I'll be going with for this entire conversation.
(Let it be said that as far as Japanese subtleties are concerned, he is asking Kagome to date him, here.)
For the sake of argument, let's look back at this "very beginning" he mentions, and how long it took him to realize Kagome LOOKED a bit like Kikyou, but was not Kikyou:
Well that was quick. He does compare them a few times after this, but it's always about how different they are. (Usually to be rude, but let's face it, this is early Inuyasha.)
(I include this "comparison" just because he's RELIEVED here at Kagome NOT being Kikyou. It's the first explicit indication that he likes her for her and would be heartbroken if the girls got switched.)
(Then he proceeds to make it even more explicit, and even Kaede spells it out.)
He completely stops comparing them in any capacity after this, and the way he does it says to me that he sees and values them very differently IN SPITE of the slight physical resemblance, not BECAUSE they look alike.
"But Kit!" I hear you say, "These examples are meaningless because they are AFTER he tried to kiss her!"
Well I disagree his feelings would have changed that drastically in the small amount of time given the context, but let's still look at all InuKag have been through at this point. I'll just do a montage of Inuyasha feeling pride or affection for Kagome in said arcs because I am self-indulgent like that, lol.
(My boy did not need to protect her, here. If she was gone, he'd be free of the beads and thus free to just take the Jewel. He did it purely out of valuing her life in some capacity.)
(Knowing her scent already? Lending her your only armor just so she won't get hurt? Why Inuyasha, that's not extremely intimate at all!)
(I find him saying her name significant not just because of differentiating her from Kikyou in his mind, but in that Inuyasha doesn't say ANYONE'S name unless they are important to him. Exceptions.)
("I refuse to get involved!" *Kagome's in trouble, immediately gets involved*)
(I love this arc overall SO MUCH cuz they not only have their first friendly pouty BFFs spat, but Inuyasha then immediately comes running to save her after smelling her blood THROUGH SPACE AND TIME, and is so desperate to be relied on cuz it makes him feel good to protect her and he's realizing that.)
(Lest we forget he had SOMETHING TO TELL HER right before threading their fingers extremely intimately.)
(Inu wasn't in this arc much but he WAS very worried and impressed with her.)
(I could honestly put the WHOLE spider head arc in here and gush about every detail of their character development, but we all know the highlight and I think Rumiko put it best in the Profiles Book that Inuyasha had never encountered or thought of anyone who would be saddened by his death before. I truly believe this is when he decided to open up and give his budding feelings for her a chance to bloom. And more importantly for this particular argument, decides NOT TO LIE to her again.)
And it's at this point we come to him trying to kiss her. It's true Inuyasha's emotions are slightly volatile from Kikyou being brought up. It's a definite sore spot, which even Kagome picks up on. Kagome asks point blank if he still sees her as Kikyou and hates her for it. To which he says she has it all wrong.
Considering her previous statement was if he HATES her, we can pretty easily infer that he's answering that directly, here. As in, no, he does not. Reading into context clues and what we see before and after this moment, I'd go so far as to say he's implying he LOVES her, here. Or at least is beginning to realize he likes her much more than as a friend. The last arc was huge for him, let's not forget that. He'd never ever been vulnerable like that with anyone: both in letting them know his night of weakness, and emotionally. All signs point to him having realized he's fallen for Kagome pretty hard and is ready to finally LET himself fall. (Though clearly Kagome's not quite ready herself, yet.) I'd argue that Kikyou's resurrection arc and the arcs following shortly after that I linked moments from earlier are there to just cement that he doesn't see her as Kikyou to any viewers who are still skeptical.
In the manga anyway, we're never shown Inuyasha pining for Kikyou or wishing she was back to life. Quite the opposite, he only wishes her to rest in peace and reach Nirvana, which he has said to her more than once. The closest we get is this line right after the resurrection arc comes to an end and Kikyou's presumed dead from the cliff:
Which I personally interpret as him still being heartbroken, yes, but the fact he brings up the idea of falling for another woman tells me he's still mulling over how he has romantic feelings for Kagome, and his trauma regarding romance making him wonder if he should backpedal on that or give up his initial goal that was a symptom of his heartbreak in the first place. (As in, he immediately stole the Jewel after Kikyou betrayed him essentially to make the hurt go away as soon as possible. Also note this is AFTER the almost-kiss, right before Miroku makes his appearance.)
So I have a pretty hard time believing that he suddenly decided to lie to Kagome right after his entire breakthrough night of vulnerability with her, and how that affected him. Also keep in mind that Kagome doesn't have concrete feelings for Inuyasha yet, so there is no jealousy or lack of confidence where Kikyou is concerned at the point of time in question. One could (shakily imo) argue that he might lie to protect her feelings later on, when he's worried about her becoming angry or jealous, but he has no such reason to lie, here. Therefore I believe he's being extremely genuine, and probably the most genuine he's been so far since he decided to abandon his previous lie about disliking her scent. I truly think he wanted to find out what kissing was like with this spitfire girl who'd run away with his heart already and made him feel and share things he'd never felt or shared with anyone.

this got LONG but i'm going to tell myself you were ASKING FOR THAT and take a breath a;ldfkjwo;dfjsf
i can't remember if my inuyasha self-insert fic days predated my gaiaonline roleplaying days, but it was one of the two! definitely entirely a form of escape from a very painful and lonely life, but i think it was actually several years after i started definitionally Writing™ before i got into it, you know? i don't remember what kickstarted it, but somewhere along the way, i realized that i could really do whatever i wanted to, and i discovered figurative language and non-linear storytelling really went hogwild on some super niche death note fics ;alkfjwd and from there i started writing prose-poetry and really just. splashing around in there. i've been a musician my whole life, and it was like i'd realized that i could put music into the written word, like i wrote entirely for the way things tripped off my internal ear—like this one line from a poem i wrote when i was 14 still sticks with me, Leaves stain, leaves stains (rough obviously, but it was my first foray into writing about visual imagery that stuck in my sad little head)
my style started as its own nascent messy little thing, and like. man, people on here don't talk about Lolita because. you know. it's literally the apotheosis of the stuff that gets people wound-up in fandom spaces? literally a novel about SA and pedophilia and grooming—but the thing is, there's a reason it's considered a central part of the western literary canon, and that book revolutionized me as a writer. nabokov's entire thing really is just. ear-worms as text, like i cannot even express how often i still think "I am just winking happy thoughts into a little tiddle cup", or how many times i'll echolalia my way through this one line from the intro bit of the book: "Lo-Le-Ta: The tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth." take or leave the content of the book, nabokov does it like none other—or he did until ocean vuong published On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, which is just. idk if you haven't read it, please please please, do yourself a favor and make space for it. it's the most effecting book i've ever read, as well as the most gorgeous and the most lovingly, grievingly composed.

ocean vuong, esp On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous (novel) and Time is a Mother (poetry)
maggie stiefvater, specifically The Raven Cycle—i could (and have) gone on for hours about the way she puts her readers into a tactile, vivid world, and her singular skill for spinning characters so contradictory and multifaceted that, to my mind, they're whole entire people, instead of the archetypes or loving stereotypes of most other fiction
richard siken, for Crush, which. i mean, i'm a gay man obsessed with words, this one really goes without saying lmao, if you read nothing else from it, read Snow and Dirty Rain. it is my gospel and my lifeblood, i have it memorized and still i reread it every week.
katherine addison taught me so much about storytelling, unreliable narrators, and the complexities of healing/trauma recovery while contending with rigid society (tragically pertinent to our present lives)—her Chronicles of Osreth (comprised of The Goblin Emperor, Witness for the Dead and The Grief of Stones)
maggie nelson, both for Bluets and The Argonauts
becky chambers—Psalm for the Wild-Built altered me as a person, it is gorgeous and soaring and humble and such a necessary book
donna tartt, obviously
anne carson, also obviously
freya marske—will read anything she ever writes, her language is lush, her worldbuilding is unique and spectacular, and her smut is HOT
alexandra rowland, for the same reasons as freya marske, but also their characters are so stunningly sympathetic, as well as really loving examples of neurodivergence in fiction (evemer hoşkadem, my deeply autistic beloved)
robin hobb really writes a toxic, complicated relationship saga like none other, i am stunningly enraged by Realm of the Edlerlings and also am physically incapable of not thinking about it constantly
and then there's the authors who taught me about magic: Garth Nix (The Old Kingdom Series), Holly Black (Modern Faerie Tales), Tamora Pierce (Protector of the Small), and Francesca Lia Block (Weetzie Bat)
writer tips!!!!!! this is hokey, but honestly my main advice is READ and also HAVE FUN. storytelling is the oldest human act, and language is the show where everything's made-up and the points don't matter. language is a sandbox, and it's there for you to literally just fuck around in. it can be whatever you want—it can be your raison d'être as a writer, but also it can be incidental. it can be a means to an end, economical, and some of the best stories are taken with that approach. but also you can paint with language, if you want to. you can compose music with it. you can do whatever suits your fancy.
my second tip is WORD COUNT DOESN'T MATTER. stop counting. stop stop stop holding yourself to the weird, quantity-obsessed writer culture. 2,000 words a day? nobody has time for that except full-time writers or those really rare writers who blink and 5k words fall onto the page. personally, if i'm sitting down to write and i'm really determined to actually get something onto the page, whether or not it's necessarily good, i'll force out 200 words. 200! i can't remember where i got this tip, but the point of that number is that 200 words is attainable even on the most blocked day, and by the time you hit your 200th word, you're gonna be in the middle of a sentence or a thought that you'll have to finish, and you end up with 300. or you hit 200 and you've broken through the fog and warmed up to it, and you leave with 700 or 1,500 (or a couple wild times for me, 5k).
my third tip: if you're a writer, EVERYTHING IS WRITING. this goes for art, music, literally any creative pursuit. walking out your door in the morning is writing, because you're learning things about the world, you're processing stimuli, your wheels are never not spinning. every video game you play, every show you watch, every fic you read is inherently a generative act, because that story is entering your store of knowledge to be processed and synthesized and lend you inspiration for the kinds of stories you want to tell, or the characters you want to make, or even the kinds of things you want to avoid as a creator. i can't tell you how much i've learned from games (Outer Wilds, i'm lookin at you!!) or tv (Station Eleven....) or music (Joanna Newsom really should be on my list of authors) or fanfiction (if you're a goblin emperor beastie and you haven't read celebros's Blackbird series, RUN, don't walk. i learned literally everything about creating character conflict within a framework of love that really motivates characters to work at it and not just get angry and walk away, and i remain uhhHHH fuckin Gobsmacked and reeling that she wants to write with ME a;lkdjfalw;dfs also literally one of my most formative collaborative and creative experiences came from reading kingdom hearts fanfiction in 2010, so) so!!!! just live your life!!! think about what makes you tick, what makes stories tick, think about the stars or birds or the history of glassblowing, whatever lights you up, and that energy will find its way into the things you make.
oh and also NEVER FEEL BAD FOR TAKING BREAKS. and i don't mean a 5-minute break, or a few days. i mean weeks. i mean months or years or what-have-you. sometimes it's just not there, and that's not a failing. your creations aren't content, they're little critters you make with love, and you can't love a thing you're banging your head against day and night. take breaks. allow yourself ebbs and flows in your creativity. everything hibernates, and i promise it'll wake up again and it'll be better than you left it.

Inuvember 2019: Day 5 — Inuyasha
It was very early on that Inuyasha realized that Kagome’s smile was the best thing in his world. He didn’t have much choice in it. By the time he understood, it was already too late. But then again, maybe it had been too late the second she’d woken him up, when he was still pinned to the tree. Maybe it had been too late the moment he’d laid eyes on her, mistaking her for someone else. Maybe there had been no other paths for him from the beginning. Maybe they were destined to be.
He’d watched that smile fade anxiously over the year when they’d hunted Naraku and the Jewel shards. He didn’t know if she noticed. He didn’t know if she knew it was shining less and less bright every time, if she knew it barely reached her eyes now. He didn’t know if she could pinpoint the moments when it brutally dimmed as precisely as him.
He didn’t know if she knew it was his fault.
He was, at least, convinced it was. Indirectly, if you asked him, and he didn’t want it to happen, but it was the secondary consequences of his actions. Collateral damage, some would have said, but the words disgusted him.
Kagome wasn’t secondary. She was everything to him. She wasn’t negotiable. And yet he failed to convey that to her.
What drove him insane was that he knew all of that, and he didn’t do anything about it. Sometimes he told himself it was because he couldn’t. He couldn’t leave Kikyo behind. Others, he told himself it was because he was a coward. Of course he could leave Kikyo behind. It was a choice. His choice. And for some reason, he kept doing the wrong one over and over again.
His sense of duty, perhaps. It would be wrong to abandon Kikyo.
But it was wrong to hurt Kagome too, in a way he felt much more deeply, much more painfully, when the smile didn’t reach her eyes and when she clenched her fists because she thought he wasn’t looking.
Perhaps that was it. He was a coward. He feared the guilt he would feel if he left Kikyo to fend for herself, feared the pain he’d feel if she died again. So because of that fear, he was willing to let the best thing in his life be destroyed.
So as devastating as it was that she was gone, during those three years, part of him thought that it might all be for the best. He’d hurt Kagome like no one else had. He didn’t deserve her. Without him, she’d heal. She’d get better. She’d be happy. She’d smile again, like she used to.
Then she’d come back.
She still wasn’t smiling like before. It was better than right before she’d left, but not by much, and Inuyasha had found himself faced with a problem he had to do something about but that he couldn’t resolve with a sword.
So he brought her flowers.
He knocked on her door, and during the terrifying moments it took her to get it, he considered running away. Sure, she was back, and that had to mean something, but what if didn’t mean that? What if she made fun of him? Worse, what if she told him apologetically that he was mistaken? This was a terrible idea.
“Inuyasha? Are those… flowers?”
“Keh. Obviously.”
Bad. Bad.
“They’re… for ya.”
Nobles did that shit all the time, back when he was a kid. Got flowers for girls. And the noblewomen would giggle behind their sleeves and whisper about it.
Kagome just blinked, and Inuyasha wanted the ground to open under his feet.
Then, carefully, she reached out, taking them from his arms, brushing against him, and they’d touched before, but her touch felt like melting him.
“They’re beautiful,” she said softly. “You got them… for me?”
What was up with the surprise? He did nice things.
Sometimes.
Almost exclusively for her.
“Certainly wouldn’t have gotten any for Miroku or the old hag.”
Kagome laughed at that, and warmth spread through his chest. That was something he didn’t do often, something he wasn’t very good at. Making her laugh, that was.
Not at making her happy in general either, now that he thought about it.
“I love them,” she said sincerely, holding them against her like they were the most precious thing she’d ever had, and when she looked up, she was smiling.
Really smiling.
“Thanks, Inuyasha,” she added, and she was blushing vaguely, and then the smile faded again. Like she couldn’t believe what was happening.
“I could— I could get you more,” he blurted out urgently, terrified of watching her slip away again.
“Oh?”
“Or we could— I could show ya where they are and we could, y’know, go— pick some together?”
What was he even saying? His face was warming up. God, he hoped he wasn’t blushing.
“That sounds great,” she said, and the smile was spilling out on her lips, like she couldn’t contain it.
“Good,” he mumbled gruffly. “Then I’ll— Later today? When you’re done with that priestess stuff you’re doing?”
“That’s perfect.”
“I’ll come and get you.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t make me wait for too long.”
“That’s not my choice.”
“Keh.”
“I’ll see you later, Inuyasha. Thank you for the flowers.”
She was smiling when she put them in a vase, and then she didn't stop all the way when he walked her to Kaede’s house. She didn’t stop when she waved him goodbye, again with the promise that they would go pick some more flowers together later.

My planner from Quirky Cup Collective came today!!! So this planner is specifically gonna be my spiritual planner as I already have my A6 Inuyasha Hobonichi has my work/personal planner.
Weirdly the beauty of this book isn’t intimidating me. It’s actually making me want to use it and fill it up with my spiritual journey. Looks like Apollo’s teachings are finally rubbing off on me!
Record keeping seems to be a theme for me this year with journaling, using my grimoire, and now filling up my spiritual planner being important goals for me. I think I just really want to have items to look back on to show me not only how far I’ve come but where I’ve been. My brain has proven to be an unreliable narrator in some regards when recalling the past so I think having these will be beneficial for my future me. Not to mention, it’ll also help present me figure some shit out. So all versions of me win! Yay!
Anyway this got a bit more deep than I planned for a post showing off my pretty planner 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Are any of you using a spiritual or devotional planner?? Btw I love planners (it’s an obsession really just ask Apollo. He’ll tell you while showing clear signs of frustration! 😅) so ever want to talk planners or show yours off I’m your guy! 😁👍🏻

The pv kind of misleading, there was a mistranslation, Rin didn't say "my children" in japanese, she only said, "the children". And Zero said, "where are the hanyo children?" not "your hanyo children". Depends on the context tho, until that episode dropped, we can't be sure.
I saw it. There are a lot of possibilities in that line and in the scene in general. I did an analysis about the new season trailer (I don't recall if I shared it here, tho), but when Rin appears praying to the sky she is looking at the comet that crossed the Earth's atmosphere 14 years ago (this new trailer begins with the scene of InuYasha and Sesshomaru destroying the comet and ends with Rin's looking in its direction). I don't believe that she was actually seeing the comet (because ordinary humans can't see it), but this backstory was told by someone that could see it (like Osamu Kirin looking at the comet in Reiwa Era and Kirinmaru seeing it in the Feudal Era), leading us to believe that Zero or Riku is narrating this event.
Also, when the comet reaches the Earth's atmosphere Sesshomaru was fighting it alongside InuYasha in InuKimi's place. The twins were supposed to be with Rin, like Jaken said, that he would take care of Sesshomaru's daughters until Rin was brought there. And guess what? Jaken was with Sesshomaru in InuKimi's place and Rin were alone in a field of flowers praying for the children... So there are only three possibilities over here: the first is Sesshomaru and Jaken left just born babies alone in a forest; the second is A-Un learned how to become a baby sitter; and the third and last one is the real mother was with the girls. I can't use the possibility of Rin being delusional and leaving the girls to pray for their well-being. It would be too crazy to be part of a theory, so only the first three possible scenarios should be considerated for speculation.
So I don't think that Rin's pray is the most curious thing happening over there. If she says "my children" or "the children" won't change the fact that it is not enough a maternity evidence at all.
Unless we gather good episodes before this one airs, we can wait for a controversial one again, told by an unreliable character like it was in episode 15.

Hello lovely! I lovelovelove your writing and Till We're In The Sea formed me into a glass case of emotion that I'm still reeling from, it's just that good. I'd love to know what the inspo behind that was, I live for a well-done ambiguous ending 🙏💓
Omg thank youuuu!! 😭😭 That story was pretty experimental for me, and I wasn't sure how it'd be received. I'm so glad you liked it!!
Funnily enough, the final paragraph of the story was the first thing I wrote for it. That scene—and the final sentence, actually, almost word-for-word—just came to me out of nowhere one day. That's usually how I get inspiration for stories: a random image or phrase/sentence pops into my head and won't leave me alone.
So from there I basically had to work backwards: I knew the end of the story, but I didn't know how Inuyasha and Kagome got there, to the river. That was pretty interesting! I sorta played around until the plot made itself known.
Oh, and I knew I wanted to play with second-person perspective, and with a potentially unreliable narrator. Definitely had those things in mind while I thought through the plot.

Help spread this comparison that shows *animators* groomed Rin: Kagome: family, same age friends, suitors' names' given, faces shown, life unrelated to love interest shown in detail. Bella (Twilight): family, friends, suitors' names given, faces shown, life unrelated to love interet shown in detail. Rin: family, same age friends, suitors not given names, not shown, unrelated life totally skipped over. A character that exists only to grow up and marry Sesshoumaru?!? Moreover, a child character?!?
Yep, you've got an excellent point about the difference in Kagome's, Sango's and Rin's situation. It's not just their difference in ages when they started to date Inuyasha and Miroku, it's about their agency and their life experience. Kagome and Sango were their own individuals with their own struggles, life goals and social relationships outside of Inuyasha and Miroku, meanwhile, Rin was never given the opportunity to grow out of being an accessory to Sesshomaru's character.
And it's a damn shame, because, before Yashahime, canon did give her the opportunity to start other social relationships and grow into her own person, first befriending Kohaku and then having her stay in Kaede's village, gaining Inuyasha's group, Kaede and the villagers as a social circle completely separated from Sesshomaru.
Yashahime really fucked things up for Rin, because if we take episode 15 at face value, then she was groomed at 12-13 years old by the adult that had been her savior and caretaker when she was a child, and whom she trusted to not to take advantage of her, had to give birth at 14-15, had her newborn babies taken away by the same man who abused her trust in the first place (and didn't get any say about what was going to happen to the babies, because Sesshomaru's word is law.How in the fuck is that healthy, even if we discount the grooming/pedophilic aspect of the relationship???) and was sealed in a tree soon after that.
And, even if it turns out that Riku is lying, Rin was still put into a tree for 14 years as a teenager for some reason, yet again abruptly cutting off her social relationships outside of Sesshomaru when she wakes up, because everyone she knew that was around her age group is suddenly going to be 14 years older than her. So yeah, many characters were fucked over by Yashahime's plot, but Rin is probably the biggest victim of it.
Rin's fans out to be pissed about the horrible way Yashahime has treated her character, not celebrating an unbalanced, abusive and pedophilic "canon" relationship update that is not even actually confirmed canon by the relationship chart and could turn out to be just the result of Riku being an unreliable or malicious narrator.
They turned Rin from a happy, cheerful and sassy child who found a new, caring and protective family after coming back from the dead twice and having been physically abused and neglected before Sesshomaru took her in, into an abused teenager whose hero took sexual advantage of her as soon as she hit puberty, impregnated her at 13-14 and took her children away, had her agency, personality and will stepped on, and then she lost 14 years of her life to a magical coma.
Rin's fans ought to be the angriest in this fandom right now, not the happiest. There is nothing to celebrate about how Yashahime has portrayed Rin, Sesshomaru, or sessrin.

Tdlr; HNY timeline makes Hisui roughly 5 if the twins are born in 2005 (HNY starting in 2019) or 6 years old if HNY starts in 2020. He should look older than 2-3 in episode 15. Hisui being younger than 5 cannot make sense with the post-FA & HNY timeline.
UPDATE: so I was assuming Yashahime starts in 2020, just bear that in mind. The manga starts in 1996, so Hisui would have been born in 2000. If HNY starts in 2019, the twins were born in 2005 and Hisui would be 5. If HNY starts in 2020, twins would have been born in 2006 and Hisui would have been 6. I mixed it up and thought that the year difference was a manga versus anime thing but it’s just because we don’t know if HNY started in 2019 or 2020, so I’ve updated the post.
Hisui continues to be a major sticking point. He has been used as a yardstick since day one to judge how old Rin could have been when the twins were born (whether to prove she was the mom or to disprove it). Most of the claims about Rin’s age at the twins birth that place her at a younger age (talking 12 or 13) are primarily being bolstered right now by how young Hisui appears in episode 15. Mind you, we still do not know exactly how old Hisui is in present day, which, on the surface, makes determining his age in episode 15 even harder because of animation reasons.
Sucky Sunrise animation aside, here are the facts:
Riku says Hosenki II gave Inuyasha the black pearl 18 years ago. We can debate Riku’s credibility as a narrator because he can’t be trusted, but we know parts are true because of 1. Izayoi’s rouge existing, 2. Moroha’s dream that Takechiyo witnessed via the Dream Gazing Spell incident, 3. Moroha’s being raised/cared for by Koga’s wolf tribe, and 4. Riku’s accurate knowledge of what happened to the twins, the forest, etc.
Hisui was born just before Kagome reappeared in the Sengoku period, Root Head attacked 6 months later, and Hosenki II shows up a month later; so Hisui was roughly 7 months old then.
Even without knowing how many months exactly it was over 18 years (we can assume the story didn’t take place exactly 18 years prior to the date), Hisui would still have to be 7 months old because of the post Final Act timeline. The only debatable thing now is how old he is in present time (with an exact number of months known). The twins are something just over 14 years old (exact number of months unknown). So there is a roughly 4 year gap between Hisui being 7 months old when Hosenki II appeared 18 years ago and when the twins were born 14 years ago. That would have to make Hisui AT LEAST 4 years and 7 months old when the twins are born, assuming that the twins were born in 2005 and that HNY’s events start in 2019. 4 years and 7 months old at the bare minimum, no younger. Realistically, he’s probably close to 5 years old with it being an unknown number of months (anything over 18 years exactly) since Hosenki II appeared plus however many days, weeks passed from the time he was born to the time Kagome reappeared in the Sengoku period. We can simplify things and say he was around/close to 5 years old when the twins were born.
Does Hisui look 5 years old in episode 15? No. But that’s how old he should be. It would make him 19 years old to the twins’ and Moroha’s ago of 14 years old. This still aligns with what the VAs have said about him being a little older than the girls without making him too much older as to make his youthful appearance unbelievable.
Hisui was always supposed to be older than the twins. Does he look much older? Not really. IMO it’s mainly because he’s short. If he was taller we’d probably think he looks his age. We could argue about his hair going from light brown in FA to dark brown in HNY but I don’t see people getting up in arms over that oddity. It’s almost in the same class as Moroha having gray hair as a baby. At this point with the animation, you shouldn’t have a hard time suspending your disbelief and accepting that characters look younger than they are.
For Rin, I’ll simplify things for now until my next post. If she was 8 in 1996 and 12 in 2000 (when Hisui is born), then she’d be about 17 when her twins are born in 2005, or 18 if they were born in 2006. If we knew exactly how old she was in 2000 then by all rights we could know how old she was at the twin’s birth. If we at least knew how old she was at the start or by the end of the OG series then we’d still be able to work it out with some basic math skills and time on our hands (I’ll talk about that in my next post).
HNY starting in 2019 makes sense if we’re trying to prove Riku’s story, but for other reasons there would be a 1 year gap in the timeline if HNY starts in 2020.
Hisui could be either 5 or 6 when the twins are born and Rin could be anywhere from 16 to 19 with her possible age range in 1996 being 7-9 and her twins being born in either 2005 or 2006. For Rin to be 16, she would have had to be 7 in 1996 and HNY would have to take place in 2019. For Rin to be 17, she would have had to be 8 in 1996 and HNY would have to take place in 2019, or she could have been 7 in 1996 with HNY starting in 2020. For Rin to be 18, she would have had to be 8 in 1996 and HNY would have to take place in 2020, or she could have been 9 in 1996 with HNY starting in 2019. For Rin to be 19, she would have had to be 9 in 1996 and HNY would have to take place in 2020. Realistically, Rin was more likely 7 or 8 in the OG show, which means she was 16-18 when she had her twins. Personally, I always thought she was 8, so I think she was 17 or 18.
I don’t know why the HNY timeline would be off one year if it starts in 2020. I don’t know if that’s on purpose and we’re missing something. Will it have something to do with Riku being an unreliable narrator? Possibly. Could it be Sunrise fucking shit up? Maybe so.
At any rate, right now everything points to Hisui being about 5 or 6 years old give or take some months, but absolutely no younger than 4 years and 7 months old when the twins are born or 5 years and 7 months old.

how can you, as a fully grown person with a functioning adult brain, find an adult man who brought a prepubescent child back from the dead TWICE - a grown man to whom a prepubescent girl owed her very life TWICE, who was her guardian for over a year - maybe as much as 3 years - while she was a prepubescent child, who spent the next 2-4 years bringing her expensive, elaborate gifts, who you believe asked to marry her when she was about 11 years old, who he then married & apparently impregnated her when she was 13-15 if we are being generous, & then fucking took their infant children from while she was recovering from giving birth, & then fucking abandoned them & potentially knowingly allowed them to be almost burned alive without so much as attempting to protect them, & barely spent any time with that girl, his wife, the mother of his children, who has no personality or experiences of her own any more & is now held hostage with no agency, unconscious, serving only as a source of supposed man pain or some shit, FUCKING ROMANTIC???
rin isn't even a character any more, she's a fucking PROP.
sesshoumaru's ENTIRE original character development & his ENTIRE characterisation have been undone, ignored, & disrespected. his entire role in the original series has been scrubbed away and replaced with a lazily animated puppet.
even if this was all unreliable narrator BULLSHIT, how can you condone any of that?? HOW CAN SOME OF YOU FIND THAT ROMANTIC???
sango has been done dirty, kaede has been done dirty, where the fuck is shippo, koga is a secondhand backstory & nothing more,
even moroha is a fucking insult!! she has a cute design & could be a great character, but her very role robs inuyasha & kagome of their entire happy ending. she didn't get to know them, to be raised by them, to feel their love for her, or to feel their love for each other.
inuyasha & kagome didn't get to stay together AFTER ALL THAT SHIT THEY WENT THROUGH IN THE SERIES. they didn't get to feel their OWN love for each other either!!!!!
i don't even care that much about kagura but all of the hints that there's still some connection between her & sesshoumaru & maybe the twins?? to include those details for what may be nothing but random red herring nonsense?

RE: Sesshomaru being an (uncharacteristic, imo) deadbeat dad in The Sequel: I saw it speculated that Towa could be an unreliable narrator, given the theme of everyone's memories being garbage, which, if true, could salvage the situation. Like, the twins never "raised themselves" in the woods, she's just misremembering one afternoon. And they weren't even alone, Jaken was there. (Not that I consider anything in The Sequel canon, but it would be nice if it wasn't total trash...)
After thinking about it more, I think I jumped to conclusions. I do think there's more to it. For one thing Kaede has also been an unreliable narrator in the past (concerning Kikyo and Inuyasha) because she doesn't always have all the information, just snippets that she has to peice together.
I think that the series showing Sesshoumaru on the roof in the first episode is hopefully foreshadowing that they know how to handle him. He is the silent protector type. Those inside the hut had no idea he was even there, but he was standing guard the entire time. Hopefully this is indicative of his care for the twins and he was still around. It just makes no sense for his character to abandon his kids no matter how cold he appears. He's always been a character that shows his care through actions not words.

I absolutely love Augmented. It's dystopian, it's dark, it's got a sexy unreliable narrator, and it reimagines Inuyasha's story in one of the most creative ways I've ever seen. I can't get enough of it. (And the art! What? You're so fucking good!)

A satire of How the Inuyasha world went to shit and Yashahime happened!
Before anyone reads any further, there are certain warnings.
Warnings: Mentions of the rainbow pearl being a secret porn stash with nefarious powers. Pedomaru is an imposter.
Trigger: Depicts trauma of an underage Rin.
A poorly made imagine by an enraged fan, where only Sunrise Pedomaru ( read imposter) is a piece of shit but the rest are moral characters.
Note: Do not be like Pedomaru. Be moral, do not follow porn logic! I honestly did not want to but I realised there is no other sane way to somewhat absolve Sesshoumaru-sama and simultaneously keep it trashacanon. So, blame the plot!
-----How the conversations might have happened back then-----
Kirinmaru- Hey, you Naraku! I gave you life even after having severe case of racism... You have an important mission to complete.
Naraku- Kukuku.... I am the great Naraku-sama. Who do you think you are to make me your underling?
Kirinmaru- The dude who sent the demons materializing in your body. I am the one who turned you half!
Naraku- Fuck you! I am not your slave.
Kirinmaru- *grits teeth* Okay, fine, you youngsters don't know how to work without taking bribes. I would give you the chance to regain the Shikon and would allow your one wish upon it!
Naraku- *Smirks* All according to plan!
Naraku- So, what would you have me do?
Kirinmaru- Do anything, I mean anything but keep away that demon named Sesshoumaru from his home.
Naraku- Why?
Kirinmaru- *Inhales slowly* That guy's got a collection of pedophilia porn stash there, hidden in two rainbow pearls. He is not....and I repeat not to be allowed near his house and most importantly that porn stash.
Naraku- Why?
Zero- Because the Shikon has told me that there would be a union which would be a catastroph in making.
Naraku- So?
Zero- You dimwit, there would be Kids' as a result of his pedophilic relation with his human ward. Even we demons do not support such notions!
Naraku- Wow, never thought a guy could be more twisted than me.
Kirinmaru and Zero- No kidding! Just know that the union should not happen!
-------- 8 years later after Naraku's death-------
What no one will ever know is that the real Sesshoumaru was being kept captive in an underground dungeon and his twin brother, Pedomaru (a sick twisted pedophilic fuck) was postering as him and taking his place after Naraku’s end. He took the rainbow pearls the original Sesshoumaru was keeping away from him.
Zero- Bro, bro... Wake up! Sesshoumaru (she doesn't know he is an imposter) defeated Naraku and now he is spending time watching his porn stash and preparing gifts for his human ward.
Kirinmaru- *Slurs, half asleep* Ya? Go and burn 'em down and keep that kid away from him.
Zero- Yes bro, Imma on my way!
Zero- *Sends Root-head to cause havoc and distract Sesshoumaru. Meanwhile, she flies to his sky castle and steals the rsinbow pearls*.
-----Another 2 years later------
Zero- Bro, wake up! Terrible news, Sesshoumaru's gonna be a dad!
Kirinmaru- *Sits up straight and wears his horse mask to hide the disgust on his handsome face* Keep the kids away from the pearls at all cost!
Zero- Okay, on my way.
------10 mins later-----
Zero- I should have never allowed you near that porn stash. I am a terrible failure of an aunt!
Pedomaru- Zero!
Zero- Oh, you remember my name.
Pedomaru- How could I not. You have no clue what you did. I was on my last episode of 'Boku no Pico' and you took them down. I did not even get to know whether they....
Zero- *Eyes almost falling out of its sockets* Not only Loli but Shota as well??? You are the scum of this century!

Kagome: Yeah and I am the destroyer of Naraku and also an awesome time traveler. But such things are rocket science to you, Mr. unreliable narrator.
Riku: So, there's gonna be a comet and it's gonna bring calamity. Thus it should be destroyed by the inu brothers.
Kagome: Sure...... Because comets can also do other things...you know things other than setting the ground on fire or creating a hole on the ground... you know, like bringing literal darkness.
Kagome: Oh and Mr. Unreliable narrator, have you heard that my bro-in-law is a major creep who actually had sex with his daughter figure. I am sure the comet can do nothing more terrible.
------10 mins. Later. In a hut----
Inhabitants collectively: God, we should have seen this coming.
Kagome: Yeah, why didn't I take that tongue twister seriously?
Sango: Man, you telling me I have to see this shit happening to a girl the same age I was when I started slaying demons? I had hoped nothing worse could happen to a girl my age, think I jinxed it!
Kaede: Poor Rin!
Rin: *After birthing for several hours* Huh, only if I was an adult, I could have actually given birth without going through two miscarriages in the last two years.
Kagome and Sango: Sorry Rin, we should have never allowed you to go and stay at his palace for those two years. Back then we thought that he was your caring father figure. But, that bastard actually showed you such crap porn and coerced your consent! Rin, you should have reached out to us faster, at the time when he had started those things!
Rin: *With silent tears in her eyes* Yes, back then I did not understand anything. But I started understanding after my second miscarriage. Thus I sent Inuyasha-Sama that SOS. I am only thankful that he barged as my saviour at the right time! The least I could have asked for at this point is healthy kids. They look so beautiful. Finally I can hold them in my....
Pedomaru: *Saunters in and picks up the kids* They need to pass the rite of courage and cowardice.
Rin and the rest: Fuck you too asshole! You dare take them away with a shit like pass some rite. Keep your disgusting hand off them. Get outta here! Right this moment!
Jaken: *Tearfully* I will take care of the rest!
Rin: *Wails mournfully* I lost them again. The one time I could see them with my eyes, that nymphomaniac takes 'em away. Should have listened to Master Ungai back then!
-----In a forest----
Pedomaru: *Places the bundles of the kids on the ground and whips out the rainbow pearls holding his secret porn stash. Then he inserts said jewels in the eyes of each girl*
Jaken: *Erects a barrier that could easily be seen through by Zero*
Zero: I order you to burn that place down. I am sure he's got some of his stash hiding in that tree. Get the kids away but do not forget to remove 'em, the main stash's in the kids' eyes.
------In a certain Shrine----
Kagome: *Kisses her daughter's forehead and hands her a beni* We had always decided that if we ever had a daughter, we would give her this beni. Keep this with you Moroha, it is an anti-pedo lipstick. It will keep you safe from your piece of a shit uncle.
Inuyasha: *Unsheaths Tessaiga* Kagome, the Pedo and his boytoy's here!

He returns to his abode and speedily creates some underlings.
Kirinmaru to underlings: I order you all to collect the rainbow pearls that are scattered around the continent. Remember, do not look inside them and never use them. They are weapons of great caliber.
Underling 1: *In a nasaly voice* Kirinmaru-sama what is in those pearls.
Kirinmaru: Listen carefully because I would say it once. Those pearls are secret porn stashes of dubious content. They should be removed at all cost. Find them and bring them to me. Oh, and never allow Riku to get a hold of them. That boy has already lost his articulate power of narration after he began that black market piracy of the rainbow-pearl porn stash.
The underlings all shouted in sync: Yes, understood Kirinmaru-sama!
And thus began Yashahime: A tale of twins who embark on a journey to save the world from the rainbow pearls and their wrath!
We sincerely hope they could choose their boat carefully! And the real Sesshoumaru is brought to justice. RIP Pedomaru, the imposter!
