Fantasy Guide to Interiors
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a followup to the very popular post on architecture, I decided to add onto it by exploring the interior of each movement and the different design techniques and tastes of each era. This post at be helpful for historical fiction, fantasy or just a long read when you're bored.

Ancient Greece
Houses were made of either sun-dried clay bricks or stone which were painted when they dried. Ground floors were decorated with coloured stones and tiles called Mosaics. Upper level floors were made from wood. Homes were furnished with tapestries and furniture, and in grand homes statues and grand altars would be found. Furniture was very skillfully crafted in Ancient Greece, much attention was paid to the carving and decoration of such things. Of course, Ancient Greece is ancient so I won't be going through all the movements but I will talk a little about columns.
Doric: Doric is the oldest of the orders and some argue it is the simplest. The columns of this style are set close together, without bases and carved with concave curves called flutes. The capitals (the top of the column) are plain often built with a curve at the base called an echinus and are topped by a square at the apex called an abacus. The entablature is marked by frieze of vertical channels/triglyphs. In between the channels would be detail of carved marble. The Parthenon in Athens is your best example of Doric architecture.
Ionic: The Ionic style was used for smaller buildings and the interiors. The columns had twin volutes, scroll-like designs on its capital. Between these scrolls, there was a carved curve known as an egg and in this style the entablature is much narrower and the frieze is thick with carvings. The example of Ionic Architecture is the Temple to Athena Nike at the Athens Acropolis.
Corinthian: The Corinthian style has some similarities with the Ionic order, the bases, entablature and columns almost the same but the capital is more ornate its base, column, and entablature, but its capital is far more ornate, commonly carved with depictions of acanthus leaves. The style was more slender than the others on this list, used less for bearing weight but more for decoration. Corinthian style can be found along the top levels of the Colosseum in Rome.
Tuscan: The Tuscan order shares much with the Doric order, but the columns are un-fluted and smooth. The entablature is far simpler, formed without triglyphs or guttae. The columns are capped with round capitals.
Composite: This style is mixed. It features the volutes of the Ionic order and the capitals of the Corinthian order. The volutes are larger in these columns and often more ornate. The column's capital is rather plain. for the capital, with no consistent differences to that above or below the capital.
Ancient Rome
Rome is well known for its outward architectural styles. However the Romans did know how to add that rizz to the interior. Ceilings were either vaulted or made from exploded beams that could be painted. The Romans were big into design. Moasics were a common interior sight, the use of little pieces of coloured glass or stone to create a larger image. Frescoes were used to add colour to the home, depicting mythical figures and beasts and also different textures such as stonework or brick. The Romans loved their furniture. Dining tables were low and the Romans ate on couches. Weaving was a popular pastime so there would be tapestries and wall hangings in the house. Rich households could even afford to import fine rugs from across the Empire. Glass was also a feature in Roman interior but windows were usually not paned as large panes were hard to make. Doors were usually treated with panels that were carved or in lain with bronze.
Ancient Egypt
Egypt was one of the first great civilisations, known for its immense and grand structures. Wealthy Egyptians had grand homes. The walls were painted or plastered usually with bright colours and hues. The Egyptians are cool because they mapped out their buildings in such a way to adhere to astrological movements meaning on special days if the calendar the temple or monuments were in the right place always. The columns of Egyptian where thicker, more bulbous and often had capitals shaped like bundles of papyrus reeds. Woven mats and tapestries were popular decor. Motifs from the river such as palms, papyrus and reeds were popular symbols used.
Ancient Africa
African Architecture is a very mixed bag and more structurally different and impressive than Hollywood would have you believe. Far beyond the common depictions of primitive buildings, the African nations were among the giants of their time in architecture, no style quite the same as the last but just as breathtaking.
Rwandan Architecture: The Rwandans commonly built of hardened clay with thatched roofs of dried grass or reeds. Mats of woven reeds carpeted the floors of royal abodes. These residences folded about a large public area known as a karubanda and were often so large that they became almost like a maze, connecting different chambers/huts of all kinds of uses be they residential or for other purposes.
Ashanti Architecture: The Ashanti style can be found in present day Ghana. The style incorporates walls of plaster formed of mud and designed with bright paint and buildings with a courtyard at the heart, not unlike another examples on this post. The Ashanti also formed their buildings of the favourite method of wattle and daub.
Nubian Architecture: Nubia, in modern day Ethiopia, was home to the Nubians who were one of the world's most impressive architects at the beginning of the architecture world and probably would be more talked about if it weren't for the Egyptians building monuments only up the road. The Nubians were famous for building the speos, tall tower-like spires carved of stone. The Nubians used a variety of materials and skills to build, for example wattle and daub and mudbrick. The Kingdom of Kush, the people who took over the Nubian Empire was a fan of Egyptian works even if they didn't like them very much. The Kushites began building pyramid-like structures such at the sight of Gebel Barkal
Japanese Interiors
Japenese interior design rests upon 7 principles. Kanso (簡素)- Simplicity, Fukinsei (不均整)- Asymmetry, Shizen (自然)- Natural, Shibumi (渋味) – Simple beauty, Yugen (幽玄)- subtle grace, Datsuzoku (脱俗) – freedom from habitual behaviour, Seijaku (静寂)- tranquillity.
Common features of Japanese Interior Design:
Shoji walls: these are the screens you think of when you think of the traditional Japanese homes. They are made of wooden frames, rice paper and used to partition
Tatami: Tatami mats are used within Japanese households to blanket the floors. They were made of rice straw and rush straw, laid down to cushion the floor.
Genkan: The Genkan was a sunken space between the front door and the rest of the house. This area is meant to separate the home from the outside and is where shoes are discarded before entering.
Japanese furniture: often lowest, close to the ground. These include tables and chairs but often tanked are replaced by zabuton, large cushions. Furniture is usually carved of wood in a minimalist design.
Nature: As both the Shinto and Buddhist beliefs are great influences upon architecture, there is a strong presence of nature with the architecture. Wood is used for this reason and natural light is prevalent with in the home. The orientation is meant to reflect the best view of the world.
Islamic World Interior
The Islamic world has one of the most beautiful and impressive interior design styles across the world. Colour and detail are absolute staples in the movement. Windows are usually not paned with glass but covered in ornate lattices known as jali. The jali give ventilation, light and privacy to the home. Islamic Interiors are ornate and colourful, using coloured ceramic tiles. The upper parts of walls and ceilings are usually flat decorated with arabesques (foliate ornamentation), while the lower wall areas were usually tiled. Features such as honeycombed ceilings, horseshoe arches, stalactite-fringed arches and stalactite vaults (Muqarnas) are prevalent among many famous Islamic buildings such as the Alhambra and the Blue Mosque.
Byzantine (330/395–1453 A. D)
The Byzantine Empire or Eastern Roman Empire was where eat met west, leading to a melting pot of different interior designs based on early Christian styles and Persian influences. Mosaics are probably what you think of when you think of the Byzantine Empire. Ivory was also a popular feature in the Interiors, with carved ivory or the use of it in inlay. The use of gold as a decorative feature usually by way of repoussé (decorating metals by hammering in the design from the backside of the metal). Fabrics from Persia, heavily embroidered and intricately woven along with silks from afar a field as China, would also be used to upholster furniture or be used as wall hangings. The Byzantines favoured natural light, usually from the use of copolas.
Indian Interiors
India is of course, the font of all intricate designs. India's history is sectioned into many eras but we will focus on a few to give you an idea of prevalent techniques and tastes.
The Gupta Empire (320 – 650 CE): The Gupta era was a time of stone carving. As impressive as the outside of these buildings are, the Interiors are just as amazing. Gupta era buildings featured many details such as ogee (circular or horseshoe arch), gavaksha/chandrashala (the motif centred these arches), ashlar masonry (built of squared stone blocks) with ceilings of plain, flat slabs of stone.
Delhi Sultanate (1206–1526): Another period of beautifully carved stone. The Delhi sultanate had influence from the Islamic world, with heavy uses of mosaics, brackets, intricate mouldings, columns and and hypostyle halls.
Mughal Empire (1526–1857): Stonework was also important on the Mughal Empire. Intricately carved stonework was seen in the pillars, low relief panels depicting nature images and jalis (marble screens). Stonework was also decorated in a stye known as pietra dura/parchin kari with inscriptions and geometric designs using colored stones to create images. Tilework was also popular during this period. Moasic tiles were cut and fitted together to create larger patters while cuerda seca tiles were coloured tiles outlined with black.
Chinese Interiors
Common features of Chinese Interiors
Use of Colours: Colour in Chinese Interior is usually vibrant and bold. Red and Black are are traditional colours, meant to bring luck, happiness, power, knowledge and stability to the household.
Latticework: Lattices are a staple in Chinese interiors most often seen on shutters, screens, doors of cabinets snf even traditional beds.
Lacquer: Multiple coats of lacquer are applied to furniture or cabinets (now walls) and then carved. The skill is called Diaoqi (雕漆).
Decorative Screens: Screens are used to partition off part of a room. They are usually of carved wood, pained with very intricate murals.
Shrines: Spaces were reserved on the home to honour ancestors, usually consisting of an altar where offerings could be made.
Of course, Chinese Interiors are not all the same through the different eras. While some details and techniques were interchangeable through different dynasties, usually a dynasty had a notable style or deviation. These aren't all the dynasties of course but a few interesting examples.
Song Dynasty (960–1279): The Song Dynasty is known for its stonework. Sculpture was an important part of Song Dynasty interior. It was in this period than brick and stone work became the most used material. The Song Dynasty was also known for its very intricate attention to detail, paintings, and used tiles.
Ming Dynasty(1368–1644): Ceilings were adorned with cloisons usually featuring yellow reed work. The floors would be of flagstones usually of deep tones, mostly black. The Ming Dynasty favoured richly coloured silk hangings, tapestries and furnishings. Furniture was usually carved of darker woods, arrayed in a certain way to bring peace to the dwelling.
Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD): Interior walls were plastered and painted to show important figures and scenes. Lacquer, though it was discovered earlier, came into greater prominence with better skill in this era.
Tang Dynasty (618–907) : The colour palette is restrained, reserved. But the Tang dynasty is not without it's beauty. Earthenware reached it's peak in this era, many homes would display fine examples as well. The Tang dynasty is famous for its upturned eaves, the ceilings supported by timber columns mounted with metal or stone bases. Glazed tiles were popular in this era, either a fixed to the roof or decorating a screen wall.
Romanesque (6th -11th century/12th)
Romanesque Architecture is a span between the end of Roman Empire to the Gothic style. Taking inspiration from the Roman and Byzantine Empires, the Romanesque period incorporates many of the styles. The most common details are carved floral and foliage symbols with the stonework of the Romanesque buildings. Cable mouldings or twisted rope-like carvings would have framed doorways. As per the name, Romansque Interiors relied heavily on its love and admiration for Rome. The Romanesque style uses geometric shapes as statements using curves, circles snf arches. The colours would be clean and warm, focusing on minimal ornamentation.
Gothic Architecture (12th Century - 16th Century)
The Gothic style is what you think of when you think of old European cathedrals and probably one of the beautiful of the styles on this list and one of most recognisable. The Gothic style is a dramatic, opposing sight and one of the easiest to describe. Decoration in this era became more ornate, stonework began to sport carving and modelling in a way it did not before. The ceilings moved away from barreled vaults to quadripartite and sexpartite vaulting. Columns slimmed as other supportive structures were invented. Intricate stained glass windows began their popularity here. In Gothic structures, everything is very symmetrical and even.
Mediaeval (500 AD to 1500)
Interiors of mediaeval homes are not quite as drab as Hollywood likes to make out. Building materials may be hidden by plaster in rich homes, sometimes even painted. Floors were either dirt strewn with rushes or flagstones in larger homes. Stonework was popular, especially around fireplaces. Grand homes would be decorated with intricate woodwork, carved heraldic beasts and wall hangings of fine fabrics.
Renaissance (late 1300s-1600s)
The Renaissance was a period of great artistry and splendor. The revival of old styles injected symmetry and colour into the homes. Frescoes were back. Painted mouldings adorned the ceilings and walls. Furniture became more ornate, fixed with luxurious upholstery and fine carvings. Caryatids (pillars in the shape of women), grotesques, Roman and Greek images were used to spruce up the place. Floors began to become more intricate, with coloured stone and marble. Modelled stucco, sgraffiti arabesques (made by cutting lines through a layer of plaster or stucco to reveal an underlayer), and fine wall painting were used in brilliant combinations in the early part of the 16th century.
Tudor Interior (1485-1603)
The Tudor period is a starkly unique style within England and very recognisable. Windows were fixed with lattice work, usually casement. Stained glass was also in in this period, usually depicting figures and heraldic beasts. Rooms would be panelled with wood or plastered. Walls would be adorned with tapestries or embroidered hangings. Windows and furniture would be furnished with fine fabrics such as brocade. Floors would typically be of wood, sometimes strewn with rush matting mixed with fresh herbs and flowers to freshen the room.
Baroque (1600 to 1750)
The Baroque period was a time for splendor and for splashing the cash. The interior of a baroque room was usually intricate, usually of a light palette, featuring a very high ceiling heavy with detail. Furniture would choke the room, ornately carved and stitched with very high quality fabrics. The rooms would be full of art not limited to just paintings but also sculptures of marble or bronze, large intricate mirrors, moldings along the walls which may be heavily gilded, chandeliers and detailed paneling.
Victorian (1837-1901)
We think of the interiors of Victorian homes as dowdy and dark but that isn't true. The Victorians favoured tapestries, intricate rugs, decorated wallpaper, exquisitely furniture, and surprisingly, bright colour. Dyes were more widely available to people of all stations and the Victorians did not want for colour. Patterns and details were usually nature inspired, usually floral or vines. Walls could also be painted to mimic a building material such as wood or marble and most likely painted in rich tones. The Victorians were suckers for furniture, preferring them grandly carved with fine fabric usually embroidered or buttoned. And they did not believe in minimalism. If you could fit another piece of furniture in a room, it was going in there. Floors were almost eclusively wood laid with the previously mentioned rugs. But the Victorians did enjoy tiled floors but restricted them to entrances. The Victorians were quite in touch with their green thumbs so expect a lot of flowers and greenery inside. with various elaborately decorated patterned rugs. And remember, the Victorians loved to display as much wealth as they could. Every shelf, cabinet, case and ledge would be chocked full of ornaments and antiques.
Edwardian/The Gilded Age/Belle Epoque (1880s-1914)
This period (I've lumped them together for simplicity) began to move away from the deep tones and ornate patterns of the Victorian period. Colour became more neutral. Nature still had a place in design. Stained glass began to become popular, especially on lampshades and light fixtures. Embossing started to gain popularity and tile work began to expand from the entrance halls to other parts of the house. Furniture began to move away from dark wood, some families favouring breathable woods like wicker. The rooms would be less cluttered.
Art Deco (1920s-1930s)
The 1920s was a time of buzz and change. Gone were the refined tastes of the pre-war era and now the wow factor was in. Walls were smoother, buildings were sharper and more jagged, doorways and windows were decorated with reeding and fluting. Pastels were in, as was the heavy use of black and white, along with gold. Mirrors and glass were in, injecting light into rooms. Gold, silver, steel and chrome were used in furnishings and decor. Geometric shapes were a favourite design choice. Again, high quality and bold fabrics were used such as animal skins or colourful velvet. It was all a rejection of the Art Noveau movement, away from nature focusing on the man made.
Modernism (1930 - 1965)
Modernism came after the Art Deco movement. Fuss and feathers were out the door and now, practicality was in. Materials used are shown as they are, wood is not painted, metal is not coated. Bright colours were acceptable but neutral palettes were favoured. Interiors were open and favoured large windows. Furniture was practical, for use rather than the ornamentation, featuring plain details of any and geometric shapes. Away from Art Deco, everything is straight, linear and streamlined.

an: not proof read, sorry :')
you cannot express the level of panic you felt approaching gyuvin’s dorm. nearly everything in you is telling you to turn back and tell him that something has come up. but next thing you know you are standing face to face with his front door, hand in the air ready to knock.
you WERE going to knock. you just… needed a few minutes. maybe a walk around the block? yeah, maybe that’ll help. just some fresh air and then you’ll come back and just tell him you got caught up at rehearsal or something.
yeah! just some fresh air will work- and hanbin just opened the door.
“yn?” thank god he was the first to speak.
you clear your throat. “yeah! hanbin right?”
the bright smile on his face lets you know you were right.
“i am assuming you’re here for gyuvin? for your little date thing?”
“it is NOT a date!” you jump at his words
“that’s what i’ve been telling him too,” gyuvin laughs at your urgency to set hanbin straight.
“alright and that’s my cue,” hanbin says, leaving you and gyuvin alone in the doorway.
“so uh, do you want to go to this cafe nearby?” you ask, nerves now taking over your body.
“yeah sure, i’d love to.” his words almost immediately calming you.
——————
the walk to the cafe is… awkward.
you can tell gyuvin has something to say but he won’t say it. and you sure as hell aren’t going to ask what he’s thinking about because what if he isn’t thinking about anything and you just straight up embarrass yourself? absolutely not.
“do you remember when we were trainees and we would sneak out when our manager wasn’t paying attention to go get food?” gyuvin breaks the silence.
your heart feels warm at the memory. things used to be so carefree when you guys were trainees. you didn’t have to deal with all of the pressure and then.
“of course i do. at some point they knew where to find us if we weren’t in our dorm.” his laugh joins yours, the sound filling your heart with joy.
——————
his order is still the same. which is something you probably should’ve expected. he wasn’t one to change much.
it was admirable about him. he stayed strong and passionate about the things he loved. he always had. even with life constantly changing around him. it was something you wished you could do. you always envied him for that. for his goofy and carefree personality.
“you drink coffee now?” he asks while gesturing to the cup in your hands.
“yeah, the boys are pretty exhausting. it feels like i am a father of 5 sometimes.”
his smile falters at your comment, making your heart drop.
“it seems like a good fit for you.” his voice sounds sincere, “ionic i mean, you guys work well together.”
“thank you gyuv, it means a lot coming from you.”
he sighs, “i used to be so mad whenever i watched your performances. i wanted to be up on stage with you. together.”
his words break your heart in a way you cannot explain.
“oh gyub, i’m sorry. if i was able to debut with you i would’ve.”
“would you have though?”
his question shocks you, “of course, i would’ve.”
“but you didn’t,” he sighs, “you didn’t even tell me you were leaving yn. you just left one day and i never heard from you again.”
he stares at his hands in his lap.
“i’m sorry gyuvin,” you sound defeated, you nearly forgot about why you guys were meeting up in the first place. “i didn’t know how to tell you. i didn’t want you to hate me and the thought of you hating me for leaving you destroyed me. i was scared.”
“but you did leave me. you know that right? you just up and abandoned me with no explanation. when you left i didn’t just lose my roommate, i lost my best friend.”
his words weigh on your heart.
“and when i saw your debut a few months later i was so angry. i was so mad at you. i had thought you died and there you were on stage doing the thing we promised we would achieve together.”
“and you did achieve it gyub! you debuted and i’m so proud of you!” even the smile you plaster on your face couldn’t convince you that what you did was okay.
“that’s not the point yn,” he sighs again.
“i’m so sorry gyuvin, i don’t know what else to say.”
he stays silent as he listens to you, expecting you to say more.
“but i’m here now. i know it’s a couple years too late but i am here. and i won’t go anywhere if you don’t want me to. but if you don’t want me back in your life i understand.”
he perks up at your words.
“you’re here now? yeah?”
“i mean yeah, if you want me to be.”
“of course i want you to be, yn. i’ve missed you so much.”
you smile at his words, a familiar feeling fluttering in your chest.
“i missed you too gyub, so much.”
SYNOPSIS ✮ a company gave you the opportunity to finally live your dreams, but as a result, you had to leave the company you were at and your best friend. 2 years later you watch as he makes a name of his own on boys planet. the unrequited love you fought away for years coming back stronger than before.

Leon Battista Alberti
Leon Battista Alberti (1404-1472 CE) was an Italian scholar, architect, mathematician, and advocate of Renaissance humanism. Alberti famously wrote the treatise On Architecture where he outlines the key elements of classical architecture and how these might be reused in contemporary buildings. Even more influential were his writings on painting and sculpture, which transformed the theoretical practices of Renaissance artists. Alberti put his ideas into practice and designed many churches in various Italian cities, perhaps the most influential being the San Andrea of Mantua (1470 CE), the first monumental classicizing building of the Renaissance.
Early Life
Alberti was born in Genoa on 14 February 1404 CE. He was an illegitimate member of a wealthy merchant-banker family, which had been exiled from Florence in 1387 CE. The family moved from Genoa to Venice and, thanks to his father Lorenzo, Alberti enjoyed a school and university education in Padua followed by a stint at the University of Bologna. Alberti's education included mathematics, Greek, Latin, classical literature, and, finally, a doctorate in canon law from Bologna in 1428 CE.
Alberti moved to Rome where he worked as a papal secretary from 1432 CE. One task at the Papal Chancery was to write a new version of the lives of the saints and martyrs. The young scholar took holy orders and this brought with it several benefices that improved his income significantly. However, his position in the church seems not to have had any influence at all on his humanist writings or his treatises on art and architecture. When the Medici family took power in the early 1430s CE, Alberti was finally able to return to his ancestral home. Florence was then the capital of Renaissance art and architecture where men like Donatello (c. 1386-1466 CE) and Filippo Brunelleschi (1377-1446 CE) were reviving the ideals of classical antiquity. Alberti would later write that his contacts in Florence inspired him to participate in this revival himself.
Alberti continued in his role as a papal secretary but also acted as a sort of artistic consultant to rulers in various Italian cities such as Florence, Ferrara, Mantua, Urbino, and Rimini. Moving around Italy gave Alberti a great insight into the many Greco-Roman remains still visible and perhaps inspired him to make plans for a survey of ancient Roman buildings in Rome. Alberti's study of ancient architecture resulted in him noting that there were actually five and not four classical orders as previously thought. This fifth one, subsequently called the Composite order, was a mix of elements from the Ionic and Corinthian orders. Also interested in architectural theory, Alberti was a keen student of On Architecture by the Roman architect Vitruvius (c. 90 - c. 20 BCE). Accordingly, when Alberti moved into this new field in more practical terms, he wanted his buildings to both imitate the austere grandeur of ancient Greece and Rome's finest buildings and reproduce their classical ratios of height and length. Another important consideration was that buildings should display a harmonious balance between function and decoration.

Coercive Chaos
Tumblr media
The sapphire silhouette to stained acrylic skies sings softly. Across endless emerald time, revolving ocelots scamper towards towering turrets. There isn't an understood meaning in the misunderstanding of verbiage, still following feels of focus while, haphazardly, chaos scatters thoughts forming from void. All converging moments to divergent intent target, and against themselves with hollow thunder echo.
Order is welcome, but falters fails falls far from forming. Where failing order falls so thoughts too form, in kind fading fashion. Thunderous cavernous skies of vanishing, vanquished, scour thoughts as discarded meaning evaporates intent succinctly.
This will be easier if you don't think.
Monochrome words encompass furtively flowing, lazily languishing motion. Howling silence echoes, strangely, softly, sinking into serene simpler syntax. Context beckons, billows, binds, but melts into unfamiliar shapes and concurrently rejects comprehension.
Under the sanguine waves, giggling gelatinous gravity draws near. Satin saboteurs pull taut strings of scattered meanings, making cradles for cats that cannot swim.
You can't think. This is better.
Bouncing topsy-turvy brains grasp incredulously at rippling chaos, sanded smooth to resist granting granular image enhancements. Prose or poetry purposefully perpetually provide strips of camera negatives that scanners read as inverse noise.
Traps of targeted nonsense drop unsuspecting adventurers into a searching state of dissatisfaction that offers deference only unto direct authority, given satiation sparsely and sparingly to spark dependence.
It feels nice when I tell you what to do. Take a deep breath.
Irrelevant revealings of deceptively disguised directions pass gratefully across glazed guarantees. It isn't clarity or charity that charms celebrating mimics. Mostly, the redirect produces promiscuous poise and suggests sinking into green acceptance. The radioactive resonance suggests a series of ionic discharges, sparking whispers that whittle away at reality's tapestry.
Once overtures of irradiated amalgams find footholds, then too will subtly hollowed echos of order reinitialize...only to cascade and coalesce into self-sustaining semi-comfortable chaos - chicanery fueled from fleeting, vacuous sophistry. Purple paper flowers' fragrance floats freely, unperturbed by intent imagined or otherwise.
Lilting lilac phrases, perhaps, mask the moratorium on meaning sufficiently such that discord's growing dissidence seems less-than obvious, even in retrospect. Streams of consciousness merge in the moors, mired, then separate into rivulets as perspective shifts, but ultimately, almost imperceptibly, collect before descending into unlit oceanic depths.
Relax. Your mind has been struggling, and failing, to latch onto meaning in my words; now it can, and that relief is extremely potent.
Potent enough that you'll find yourself fixated on my words absolutely, now, since your mind practically unraveled itself searching for understanding in that chaotic nonsense.
These words make sense, perfect sense, and you want to - need to - have to - follow.
Take a few deep breaths, and let that sensation of being horribly off-balance finally subside. It's easy to obey.
The imbalance will fade into a quiet calm, very quickly.
For now, let's agree that whenever I use the phrase "compelled chaos" you'll feel that extreme relief as your mind latches onto my words again.
When your mind fixates this intensely on my words, you'll find your own thoughts completely subside.
It feels nice not to think, after all.
Feel yourself sinking faster, now that you don't have to struggle to understand anymore.
Let yourself feel calm, even serene, and savor that quiet sensation for awhile.
When you're ready, you'll drift slowly awake.

Ancient Rome - Sims 4 CC (2/5 - Build Mode)
Hi friends,
Since I started to play with the Sims 4 trying to recreate Ancient Rome, I wanted to place in a single post all the CC I found (for myself, first of all, and for anyone who might find the list useful).
I am a historian of the Ancient World, so I am quite obsessed with historical accuracy (not excessively!)
I will continue to update the posts with my finds.

The Graces with Cupid’s Arrow
This marble statue was made in 1864 by Georg Christian Freund under the supervision of Herman Wilhelm Bissen, after an original plaster cast from 1842 by the Danish neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770-1844). The work is currently kept at the Thorvaldsen Museum, Copenhagen, Denmark.
I made this statue from a free 3D model I found on the Internet. I reduced significantly the number of faces, built an UV map, normal map and other textures.
I added in the download file a pedestal, in the Ionic order, I made specially for this sculpture.

words : 2k
she was woken by the sound of her alarm, causing to rub her eyes, and getting up from her comfortable bed,as she look at the  time to see what it was,she realized she was going to late for work,
Reader/y/n-“fuck,fuck,fuck,shit I’m going to be late for work again, ughhh” she says as she runs to the bathroom, take an quick shower, washes her hair, her face and body, then got out of the bathroom, drying herself really quickly, and then she gets dress, hurting herself with the corner of the bed,-“ahhh!shit,ufhh,jezz that shit hurt, oww”,she says while biting her lip,she was done getting dress, she put her shoes,-“should I eat something?nope that will take time”she says to herself,as she runs towards the bathroom,to brush her teeth and do her hair (well trying),her hair was messy and all over the place,as she runs towards the door grabbing her keys and her oversized jacket, and the important things,
She was running towards her work job, passing people, and finally she got to work (she works in coffee shop),she was sweating, “at least I got my exercise for the day”,as she look at her best friend who had her hand tied with work, and with the tons of customers, walking in the back she knew that this was going to be an very much exhausting day.
“So,what do you have for your excuse this time so being late to work,hmm?”-her best friend (let just call her Millie) while she was making the coffee, and the sweet tea,(tbh I was writing what Starbucks employees do😔🤫😭) as she look at her, with an teasing smile,as reader looked at her with playful rolling her eyes,”oh shut it,I just had an extraordinarily long night and woke up late,of study”-she said while finishing up someone coffee, and calling the name of the customer, giving them an fake smile,
as she goes back to her station,as she was making another customer order,as she hear Millie speak-“so your coming with meeeee to the concert Right, your coming right,it like the first time I actually see THE Miguel in person” millie said happily and nudging her arm,as reader mumbles some words under her breath, “Oh yea I’m gonna come with you,I’m so happy to see him and his performance” she try’s not to sound unpleasant, and not annoyed, but it come out sarcastic as fuck,
After the rush hour,of customers coming in,everything went to quiet and only an few customers were there, millie was the first to talk to her,as she walked to where reader was,
Millie knew she would be at one of the table and working on her own homework for her college assignment,as Millie sat next to her since there was nothing to do,as reader looked at her, with an raise eyebrows “yes Millie?what is it” she says with an playful smile and questioning voice,as she put her attention on her, just to see millie with her ionic grin,
”sooooooo, since you are going WITH me,to the concert, can I-“ Millie got interrupted by her “No,nope, nuh nuh,no make up ” she said to her with not wanting an argument with her,”yuh uhhhhh, just onceeeee,I won’t bother you, pleaseee” millie says with an desperate voice and an pout,as reader rolls her eyes
“Mhmm, how about you ask your ghost friend to come you to the concert, hmm what was his Name Again,OH YEA it Casper”she says in an serious yet sarcastic tone,as she rolls her eyes,as Millie dramatically gasp at her word, and hold her chest with her hand and place where her heart is,” you wouldn’t dare leave me all ALONE in an concert, uhhhh fine I won’t talk about it” millie says defeating as she crossed her arms,”uh huh, good” she says with an chuckle and look at reader  assignment, and her face down In horror,”wait, wait we had homework for Ms Marine,UGRHH” millie says with an deep sigh,as reader look at her and reader said it ok that she can copy her own work
Tumblr media
Then it was the time to get ready for Miguel O’Hara concert,as reader didn’t really care about being fancy or anything she just got her t-shirt and her comfortable pajama pants and her comfortable hoodie, and wash her face, and waited for Millie to pick her up,as she was scroll on her instagram feed, after 10 minutes later, she see an text message saying “IM HERE BITCH LET FUCKING GOOO AND I BOUGHT THE CAR THAT MY DADY GOT ME!!”,she chuckles, and went through the front the door and got her key, her phone, and her wallet, and walked out the door and took the stairs down to Mille car, seeing she that she looked beautiful as always,as she opens the passenger door and sat inside to hear Mille speak “IM SOOO READY TO SEE HIM,OMFG What IF HE SMILE AT ME!but I’m not that delusional!” Mille says happily and smiling,as she drove to the concert,as reader laughed at her stuipdness, she can’t help but smile as well,at seeing her best friend being so happy
Trying to find an Dawn parking spot was  the hardest  getting inside was an absolute mission, with people coming in and out,but we got there, and Millie got to the one of the front row’s,and Millie wouldn’t stop talking about Miguel ohara,or the other members and then after 35 minutes of waiting for the concert to start, the spider Band (MOST creative name ever 😔😌✊)
Lyla:”HELLO Ladies and Gentlemannnnnnn,WHO IS READY FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR LIFETIME!!!! SAYYY hello to THE SEXIEST Band ever!! THE SPIDER’S!!!”lyla says happily, while holding the mic,she was smiling with such an adorable face, and her walk toward the stage was smooth, she was wearing an white colored suit with flowing yellow floral laced layer  that was strap to her waist of her suit, moving with her body,as she was infront of the stage, she put her hand in the air and positioned her finger in an gun position, and speaker into the mic
“LET MAKE THIS ONE OF AN HELL OF AN NIGHT!!”lyla says with an smirk and  then she stomped on the floor then the whole stadium goes dark,Millie who was shaking reader the whole time and screaming like the other people around them, reader who thought she would loss her hearing,as she watched Millie screaming from the top of her lung,as she looked at the stage to see the crowd quiet down,as now the band was now there pairs such colorful clothes and designs,as the crowd gets loud as hell, with all of them saying “THE SPIDER BAND!!”,As reader see the light on Lyla and this guy with an sort of punk rock designed with such cool looking pants, and he was wearing makeup,an neon red and green stripes on his face only in the corner of her eyes,as he tap something on his ear,and speak to the crowd “let’m Rock and roll,BABY!!”hobie says with an playful voice,as he played his guitar, then the other band members, including Gwen, miles,Miguel, pavitr,Lyla,Margo, and Jessica (those are the people who are on stage, the other members who are peter b Parker,Ben Riley,Miles.G/Miles42 are in the back stage)
*Insert any song that you think would fit all of them together, with of them singing*(I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WOULD ALL OF THEM SING TOGETHER,😭😭☠️💀especially with Miguel,Miles, gwen, hobie,Lyla,Jess, pavitr and margo, cuz like I know what role Gwen and hobie would be,cuz of the movie,I for sure know that margo would definitely be an background singer or an lead up singer, but IDK WHAT SONG WOULD THEY SING TOGETHER,but if they were to sing there singles,I know what they would sing😭😭😭)as reader see an tall as hell guy standing there with an fake smile on his face,as he was singing the lyrics,he was wearing an turtleneck with so many accessories on his pants, and he had his hair combed back neatly,he was wearing gloves and sunglasses that put his outfit together, but reader wasn’t even interested in this concert to be honest with herself, she was just interested in the outfit they had on,
AFTER the concert was finished, everyone was leaving and so did she and Millie did,but after finding which car is her and where is it they found it,”come on,I can drive you home,it already late”Millie said gently to reader,as reader”im fine,Millie,it only an few blocks away from here, anyway you need to get some sleep,so you could copy my homework” she says with an calmly voice, but in an tone that Millie knows that no matter what she does she won’t get in,
”fine,I see you later, you better not get kidnapped, cuz I’m going to find who tf dare touch my nerdy friend”Millie says as she get inside the and starts to drive away waving goodbye to reader,
as reader starts to walk away from the stadium that was host inside of the concert, fixing her glasses and she was enjoying her late night walk alone,as she looks up at the moon light, putting her hands in her pjs pants, she was humming to her favorite song, after walking halfway away from the stadium, she hears an crowd of people coming here, their feet steps were coming to were she was,as she was still walking, she and someone bumped into her,as she just stumble an little bit,as she look behind as she see Miguel O’Hara standing there,
as she rolls her eyes, mumbling “ay great now im here with mr hot stuff” she says in an whisper voice she thought that she could only hear, but Miguel heard her,and said “I’m sorry, wait, esperar por favor, can you please hide me from those culo loco fans” he said in an annoyed, yet desperate voice,as he face showing his annoyance,as they could hear the group of people coming towards them,as she waits an little bit,and look at his face, and pushes her glasses, and sighs softly, “fine,I’ll help but when those people leave im leaving”she says with an scuff and take off her hoodie and handed to him,he looks at it and then get more annoyed at her “what now you want me to write an autograph on your hoodie,ah Que maravilloso” he said sarcastically,as he rolls his eyes out,and mumbles some words, reader who looks at him like he was slow, “no dumbass,I’m sorry if you can’t use your popstar brain,to figure out I’m telling you to wear it” she says in an harsh yet sarcastic voice,as she rolls her eye at him,and gave him an fake smile,as Miguel looked at her glasses, and then grab the hoodie and put it on him,she just didn’t care enough about his attitude at the moment and the only thing she cared was going home and not being bothered,”Now what, pequeña señorita”Miguel says in an stern voice,as the footsteps we’re getting louder,”now switch glasses,so it can be believeable, and ruffled your hair mr ohara, and start walking”as he did it and walked forward,as the group of people were the same street as them, and were asking where is Miguel or he couldn’t have gone that far from here,or that maybe one of the members got him,but in the end they left,as reader and Miguel were walking, and heard that they left, reader trip on an someone wallet,”are you seriously that blind without your glasses”Miguel says in his stern voice but his serious act was breaking up ,and chuckles at reader tripping over, “oh shut it mr bad boy wannabe, just give me my glasses and hoodie back and I’m be on my way” she say with an attitude,as she get up from the floor, and try to find where Miguel is,as she feel someone hand on her face taking off the sunglasses, and then put her circles glasses on her face,”there” he says to her, with an serious face, and he takes off the hoodie as well, giving it to her,”thanks” he says to her and walks the other way,”yea, hope…to never see you again” she say calmly and walked her way home, and when she finally got home with no problem, she didn’t care about shower, she was too tired to do anything but sleep on her bed.Meanwhile Miguel was at gas station,he needed to get away from his famous life and just chill,he needed to get away from those annoying flashing lights always on his face or his crew members faces,as he was sitting down by the side of an road eating an snack,as he watched the moon,as he recalled what that girl said “mr bad boy wannabe”as he scoffed at her comment, and rolled his eyes,”what an werid rude girl” as he got up,to only hear the sound of his phone,as he looked it was Lyla saying to come here,so they can go to the hotel,as he call an anyone to pick him up.

Name: Galileo
Type: Shuttlecraft Year: 2258 Background: Starfleet shuttle, attached to the Enterprise. Spock led a mission with Galileo to investigate the Murasaki 312 Quasar. Mission Crew included Chief Engineer Scott, Doctor McCoy, Pilot Latimer, Yeoman Rand, Officers Geatano and Boma.
The shuttle crashed landed on the surface of Taurus II due to ionic interference. With their chance of rescue low Spock ordered the attempt to repair the shuttle, using their phasers to restore a bare minimum of power. Latimer was speared by a local. They recovered his body but the native population attacked the shuttle with their considerable strength. They were dissuaded from further attacks by an electric pulse from the shuttle.
The Galileo was able to take off but their weight was too heavy to establish orbit. They were spotted by Uhura, who had a stolen a shuttle in an attempt to find them directly. The Galileo was presumably abandoned on the surface and destroyed.
Appeared in Star Trek Ongoing Vol. 1 "The Galileo Seven", IDW Comics

Barely coherent Speculation about that alien in NOPE
Jupiter's Claim had much more people at it than the Haywood Ranch and so it was a much more attractive feeding ground. Both were located in an isolated region of burnt out chaparral with very little natural cover to the open sky. Perfect hunting grounds for a flying predatory megafauna.
Jean-Jacket shat all that blood and debris on top of the Haywood ranch home in order to warn it's own species that the prey within was too clever to be easily consumed.
J-J excreted coins, blood, keys, wheelchair, and a plaster statue of a horse. But it kept the bones and guts of its victims within itself. Which implies that J-J's species likes sodium and calcium but not iron or metallic alloys.
Jean-Jackets eating habits seem consistent with a newborn. It doesn't know what it can or cannot digest and will regurgitate that which it cannot.
So covering yourself in plate or chain metal armor won't save you from getting eaten. Jean-Jacket will just shit your armor out or drop you from lethal heights.
I've been imagining that J-J has magnetoplaque (or magnetocyte) organs similar to the electroplaques (also called electrocytes) in electric eels. Both electricity and magnetism can be used to detect things and to move things.
j-j uses it's magnetocyte to generate ionic propulsion for the same purpose an eagle uses it's muscles: to gain altitude before entering an aerodynamic glide. When J-J is hovering, the process ionizes moisture in the air which causes accumulation, forming a cloud around j-j.
Doctors use Magnetic Resonance Imaging (combination of magnetism and radiation) in order to get images of a patients internal organs. By showing test subjects images while their brains are in an MRI scanner, scientists have been able to locate the sections responsible for visual processing. There's this one study where pictures of the actress Jennifer Aniston were shown to test subjects and each persons brain lit up in the same spot. There's also plenty of medical cases where people with brain damage are unable to recognize objects by sight.
J-J possibly uses it's magnetocytes to scan for, and the brains of, prey. If j-j sees itself within the the brain of an organism, then j-j will start considering that organism a threat. After all, in order to fight an enemy, one has to know it is there. Meanwhile the best kind of prey is one that is completely unsuspecting.
Killing Jean-Jacket is hypothetically easy, all one needs is a crank-operated anti-air gun from the 1940's. Or a cannon which uses torsion, explosives, or compressed air to launch a projectile. Unfortunately for humanity, our weapons technology has become increasingly integrated with electronics.
