Leaving the jailbreak community
Around this time last year (in March 2022) I had updated my main iPhone to iOS 15.1, hoping to make a jailbreak for it. I fully expected to be gone from the scene after iOS 15.1, but knew full well that with all the mitigations of iOS 15.0 - 15.1 alone, it may already have been out of my means to make a jailbreak, so there was a risk.
By that time, I had already cut down the tweaks I used to just 2 -- iPad dock for iPhone, and enabling battery percentage for notched iPhones.
Fast forward to June, and iOS 16 had natively introduced battery percentage for iPhones that have the notch -- cutting down the number of tweaks I’d want (compared to stock) from 2 to 1. But no matter, I was still on iOS 15.1, and still hoping to make a jailbreak, since I had a working terminal at that point.
However, the months progressed -- June became July, and iOS 16 betas were coming. Thanks to a donation from someone, I got an M1 Macbook Air to accelerate jailbreak development, and had gotten libhooker with tweaks running a couple weeks later, including on A12 and A13. The jailbreak at this point was in an extremely buggy, albeit functional state and hope was up.
Then the jailbreak community happened -- without a PAC / PPL bypass at the time, libhooker would be forced to sign code pages -- which was only really doable with the libhooker API (unless a ton of effort was spent on potential workarounds). But tweak developers largely refused to consider using the libhooker API for batching hooks, and I was quickly getting frustrated. And a lot of others from the community weren’t helping either -- I had gotten harassed by many jailbreak users on twitter and reddit over this, especially since it had recently come to light that Cheyote was broken on A15. And of course, with it being August 2022, it was unlikely any donations at this point would even get an A15 device on early iOS 15.
At the same time, I had other interests popping up with porting Windows to various chromebooks -- my port to AMD Ryzen was going well enough to be a daily driver, and I had just gotten audio working on the Pixel 2 chromebook (which I previously abandoned in 2017 but then picked up in 2022 with my new experience).
So I snapped -- I realized how much better the community is on the chromebook side and that I simply didn’t need to put up with the jailbreak community. And I put Cheyote on the backburner to focus on developing Windows drivers for chromebooks.
Then August became September, November, December. Progress was being made on the chromebook scene, but every time I considered returning to doing iOS jailbreaking, I shuddered from remembering the harassment.
In December 2022, I returned the money donated towards the macbook to the person who donated it. Since I realized Cheyote was well beyond schedule, even if it ever came to happen. Meanwhile in the chromebook scene, I was getting Intel 12th gen audio working.
Then the months passed, and in March 2023 I realized it had been a full year. And I was still on iOS 15.1 for seemingly no reason other than to tease myself and miss out on the battery percentage and widgets -- so I updated my main iPhone to iOS 16.3.1 (and now iOS 16.4), knowing that there was no turning back and that I would no longer be jailbroken on my main device for a long time, if ever.
That brings us to today. Even though I’ve been in denial about it for several months now, it clearly has made me feel a lot better to stay away from the jailbreak community, and I have found new interests that make me happier. So it’s time to say farewell. It’s been a good run overall since I started developing tweaks for iOS 5 (in 2012) and jailbreaks since iOS 11 (in 2017) -- a 10 year run isn’t too bad after all.
===========================================================
For those who are still waiting on Cheyote, unfortunately I wouldn’t hold my breath anymore. I’ve clearly moved on months ago, even though it’s taken me until now to fully realize it. I appreciate those who have supported me in the past and thank you for your support on my tweaks, Electra, Chimera, Odyssey and Taurine. If you’re still running one of the jailbreaks I’ve made -- you’re a real one. libhooker and my repos will still be up and running for those on iOS 11 to iOS 14, and Sileo has been maintained by Amy for over a year now. I expect Odyssey and Taurine won’t need any more updates considering they’ve been running stable for a long time, and libhooker 1.6.9 will continue to be hosted on my repo since it is the last version to be fully validated up to iOS 14.8.1 (on checkm8) and up to iOS 14.3 (on Chimera -> Taurine).
If you were interested in what I’m up to these days, feel free to grab almost any Intel chromebook (or one of the 3 supported Ryzen 3000 chromebooks) from the last decade and put Windows on it! (Except the original Pixel 1 [no trackpad / touch screen] or Samsung Chromebook 3 -- that one is garbage, sorry if you have it)

HOW TO DOWNLOAD CHATPLOTS!

you’re done!
how to download it on android:
go to chatplots.inkyclari.com
on chrome, press the three dots in the upper righthand corner

you’re done!
currently, chatplots works best on a mobile device, so we encourage you to use it in a mobile browser or download it to your device as a web app following the instructions above!
Tumblr media
more information + faq!
Tumblr media
WHAT IS CHATPLOTS?
chatplots is a simulation game where you can enter into various situations with specific characters and 'message' them. each chat will have multiple choices for the player to choose and at least two endings. your choices and behaviour throughout the chat will influence how the character reacts and responds to you, and will ultimately determine which ending you get! it is essentially like a playable oneshot! chatplots IS NOT AI. it is a game that was written by me and developed by my boyfriend. each conversation was painstakingly crafted by me; it is all my writing, and it will always be completely and entirely written by me.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
chatplots can be downloaded as a web app on your home screen if you'd prefer to have it on your phone! (this is the option i personally recommend hehe) but chatplots can also be played on any device in any mobile or desktop browser, accessible through this link: https://chatplots.inkyclari.com.
here's how it'll all go down once the chat is open:
the character will send a message (or several messages)
the response button (the button with the little paper airplane) will begin pulsing when you can respond back to him
pressing the button will open up all of your available response options. you can then choose which one to send back to him.
this will continue until you reach the end of the game. the response button will begin pulsing with your ending, which is a piece of prose 700-900 words long for paid chats. the paid chats take about 10-15 minutes to play though once. the free chats take anywhere between 1-5 minutes to play through, and have no ending pieces of prose.
notes:
the character will refer to you by name. the name you input at the start of the game will be the name he uses, though this name can be changed at any time in the settings (the little gear in the bottom left corner!). also! check out the settings while he's still typing for a cute lil surprise ehehe c:
the character will behave like a real human throughout the duration of the chat. he takes a moment to read your message before he responds, and the time it takes him to type out a response is akin to that of a real person—meaning if his response is longer, he will take longer to type it than a response that is only a word or two.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
this is a beta, which means it is not the finished product.
FOR THE TOUYA-NII CHAT: the chat you are playing is technically only half of what the full chat would be; you are only playing one route with a few different branches and two variations of the same single ending. (in other words, there are several different ways to reach the same ending, and each branch has slight variations).
FOR ANY OF THE SHORTER DEMO CHATS: the chat you are playing is merely meant to be a demo of what the game entails; like a sample of what you can expect from future paid chats! these chats have short, simple stories with 2-3 different ‘routes’ and no ending pieces of prose.
a full chat would have at least two separate routes within the same scenario/setting, and at least two different endings.
we encourage you to play through the chat several times to discover which choices yield which results, and to explore all the character has to say!
WILL OTHER CHARACTERS BE ADDED IN THE FUTURE?
yes, of course! any of my iterations of ANY character (bnha, bsd, and tokrev) has the potential to be added to the game in the future. i am also open to taking suggests and prompts from you all for future chat scenarios!
HOW MUCH WILL THE FULL GAME COST?
chats will either be sold on an individual basis, where you can buy each chat separately for $4-$6 USD depending on the length, complexity, number of endings, etc OR through a monthly subscription of $7 USD, enabling you to have continual access to the entire catalogue of chats as it grows, with the minimum number chats being released at least two per month. both options will be offered in the full version of the game.

Netflix's monthly game downloads nearly tripled to 28m in December thanks to GTA
Tumblr media
As reported by Mobilegamer.biz based on data from Appmagic (thanks VGC), Netflix's monthly game downloads on iOS and Android climbed from approximately 10m last November to around 28m in December. That jump can be directly attributed to the arrival of Grand Theft Auto on Netflix, with Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas all joining the streaming service in their Definitive Edition guises on 14th December last year.
As per Appmagic's figures, San Andreas was by far the most popular game among Netflix subscribers, and was downloaded 11.6m times. That's compared to 4.1m downloads for Vice City and 2.4m for Grand Theft Auto 3. Combined, that accounts for 18.1m downloads, meaning a further 10m downloads in December came from non-GTA games - the same number of downloads Netflix generated in November without GTA.

Fortnite will return to iOS in the EU soon via a new Epic Games Store app
Tumblr media
In a tweet posted on the official Epic Games Newsroom account on X, the publisher said the game “will return to iOS in Europe in 2024, distributed by the upcoming Epic Games Store for iOS”.
It’s not yet clear whether this includes the UK – since the law change was an EU one and the UK is no longer part of the EU – or whether Epic plans to pay Apple the new fee it has announced for alternative app stores.
The changes are being made as a result of the Digital Markets Act, a new EU law which goes into effect in March.

Apple to allow alternative app stores in Europe
Tumblr media
Beyond its new policy allowing game streaming apps worldwide, Apple today announced new changes it is making to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act, most notably that it will allow alternative app payments and app stores.
For its part, Apple continued to show reluctance to comply with the DMA, repeating concerns that the measures will make its platforms more vulnerable to privacy and security threats.
"Within the DMA's constraints, Apple is committed to protecting the privacy, security, and quality of the iOS user experience in the EU as much as possible," the company said.
The changes will go into effect in March.

Discover Google Pixel 9, 8a, Watch 3’s Wonders in 2024!
Tumblr media
Google Pixel 2024 Google Pixel 9, 8a, Watch 3, and more What to expect from Google Pixel devices in 12 months
2023 was a big year for Pixel. New products like the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet were released alongside the annual upgrades to existing products. Moreover, the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel Watch 2 gained battery life improvements.
However 2023 has become over, so let’s go see what 2024 could offer. You have some understanding as to what Google has in hand for us over the next year, even though the are scarce and some products may not appear.
The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel Fold 2 are among the 2024 Google Pixel launch possibilities.
Google must release the mid-range Pixel 8a, the last Pixel 8, before anything else. While flagship Pixels are inconsistent, A-series phones are often year-end highlights.
Given Samsung’s success with the Galaxy A54, mid-range competition is fierce. With the iPhone SE 4 not expected until 2025, Google can dig in and cement its position as a cheaper phone leader.
The phone’s design may not change much from last year, The Pixel 8’s Tensor G3 chipset and AI features should be on the phone. Similar to the Pixel 8, the Pixel 8a won’t win benchmarking contests. What you will expect the 8a to receive updates first like any Pixel and have 7-year support like its older siblings.
Top flagship features like great photography and battery life are also available in the Pixel A series. With bigger bezels, plastic frames, and no optical zoom, don’t expect premium features like the flagship. It’s not a dealbreaker if Google keeps the price under $500.
Pixel 9 and 9 Pro
Google will likely release two flagship Pixels in October. However, one leak suggests thay may get three Google Pixel 9 devices, the standard and two Pro models.
Apparently, these two variants will have the same performance and camera improvements but different sizes. One with a 6.7-inch screen and one with 6.3.say will get the usual pair of phones, but both could have larger screens. It was unclear how big they could get.
Regardless, the Google Pixel 9 series will have a Tensor G4 chipset. They don’t expect this chip to be powerful, but Google could improve efficiency. Instead, this will power the Pixel 9’s AI features, which will likely emphasize photo quality and editing.
Google to rely heavily on its AI models. Gemini Pro and Ultra will be added to Google Bard, accessible through Google Assistant, later this year. These features have only improved Pixel AI features, but expect new and more powerful ones.
Beyond AI, the Google Pixel 9 camera and display should improve, and they hope Google can avoid the battery life issues of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series.
Android 15: 2024 Pixel updates
Google Pixel 9 wouldn’t exist without Android, and Android 15 should be released soon. The first Android 15 developer preview may launch soon (Android 14 debuted in February).
Public viewing of the software is likely at Google I/O in May. The first public beta may arrive that day, but Android 14 arrived in April.
The stable release is expected in Fall. Android 14 was released in early October, a week before the Pixel 8 launch event, instead of in late summer.
Either situation could happen this year, and if it does, it could mean Google is taking an Apple-like approach to Android releases. The latest iOS version usually releases shortly before the next iPhone.
Regardless of beta status, Pixel owners will get all Android updates first. The Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro will ship with the new software and some exclusive features. Due to Google’s monthly feature drops, expect the Pixel to get most Android updates.
They don’t know much about Android 15, but it’s likely to include new protections against phishing scams and other “deceptive behavior” from apps. Another option is a battery health indicator like those on iPhones to track how much capacity your phone’s battery has lost over time.
The software will likely have many more features, but will have to wait.
Google Pixel Watch 3
You haven’t seen much about the Pixel Watch as of yet , but whenever the last two years of silence are any indication, it will be released in October with the Google Pixel 9. In May, see I/O again, but not always. Who knows what the watch could improve.
The Pixel Watch 3 may have no buttons, A Google patent suggests that gestures, but not wand-waving, could control the watch. Instead, it swipes, presses, and squeezes the watch case. Could the Pixel Watch 3 benefit from a rotating bezel without moving parts that could break?
If the Pixel Watch 2 is any indication, health and safety features will improve, blurring the lines between the Pixel Watch and a Fitbit. you hope Google fixes basic design features like slimming the chunky bezels and offering a smaller watch face for people with smaller hands.
Will Pixel Fold 2 or Tablet 2 appear?
You biggest Pixel range question for 2024 is whether the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet will be updated. you haven’t heard anything about follow-ups, other than Google doesn’t want them to be “one and done” products.
Remember that the Pixel Tablet was announced at Google I/O 2022 but didn’t hit shelves for 13 months. It took until last summer for the Pixel Fold to be confirmed after years of rumors. Which bodes ill for a 2024 second-generation device.
You could have said the same about the Pixel Watch 2 last year. Google’s second-generation smartwatch debuted alongside the Pixel 8 series, ending speculation that it would skip the annual upgrade cycle.
