Ok for real went to the Ioway Bee Farm website after I saw that post and their creamed honey products are only $8 a jar. That's crazy. It sounds delicious. It's just crystallized honey blended with freeze dried fruit. Uhh yes please.
I have shopped with them before! They are a Native owned business and their products are so good. I was using their bee pollen until my SIL stole my bottle. Their candles are gorgeous. The regular honey was amazing. I could not recommend them more highly.

I already love the lip balm!!!! I hoard lip balms and these are a new favorite!!! They smell lovely and they don't have that gross Vaseline taste to them like lots of lip balms do. I love it🤩

Had a galaxy-brained adult moment for once?
Can't get all of your honey out of the jar?

PUT TEA IN THE JAR
Tumblr media
Gotta make sure to put hot tea in it to mix it in, but then you let it cool enough to hold? You're set!

Hey since it's indigenous peoples' day here's a list of indigenous-owned businesses in the US. I believe I originally saw it in an indigenous person's post but tumblr's search function is shit and I couldn't find it again.

Second order of creamed honey from Ioway Bee Farm finally arrived and while the almond creamed honey was a little underwhelming the blueberry one was almost *too* decadent. Like mortals were not made for something that tastes this good. This honey could corrupt a man from the first spoonful. It helps me to avoid eating half the jar in one go, though.

Individually all parts of this are AMAZING, if it turns out well it will be the best thing I've ever made
Mixture to glom everything together:
-1 cup butter
-almond paste (not sure how much, enough to get twelve approximate cubes from an 8 oz. package)
-brown sugar (kind of a lot)
-nutmeg (way more than you think is normal)
-cinnamon creamed honey (I bought this from ioway bee farms, but you could easily use normal honey and add cinnamon) about 5 heaping spoonfuls
It smells SO GOOD. I hope it bakes well lol

Ao3 may be important to fandom history but it goes over its donation requirement (50k every few months) in SPADES (They just finished donations and made over 250k). Ao3 defends its hosting of unchecked glorified racism, pedophilia, and incest. it's also unfinished and its filter system is broken and amasses hundreds of thousands of dollars that it is most definitely not using all of.
So here's a small list of suggestions of who you could be donating to instead. Ao3 bootlickers and people who reblog just to spite donate to a03 will be blocked.
The internet archive which is fighting a losing battle against greedy corporations who want to control the internet even more than they already are
Help out WGA strikers (This Link can tell you where you can donate): If you care about the people who actually make the shows you write fanfic about, or about the screenwriting industry at all, please help out. This is a fight against screwing over writers financially and the fight against AI replacing them.
The Quileute tribe (you know, the one in Twilight) needs to move to higher ground and is still seeking donations
Buying anything from the Ioway Bee Farm helps support a Native American tribe in need AND gets you high quality and sustainable products made from bees.
RIP medical debt is a charity that buys up people's medical debt on the cheap and forgives it. 1$ donated can erase 100$ of debt. Genuinely life changing
Literally other people on tumblr! There are so many gofundme's and people who are genuinely sick or homeless and need help and money. And most of the time they aren't scams! And sometimes you can get art or fic requests as well! But just do a good deed
I hesitate saying Wikipedia because although it is 10x more useful than a03 The site has way more funds than it needs so donate cautiously.
And because I am fortunate enough to do so, i'm putting my money where my mouth is. I don't expect praise for doing so. It's the bare minimum.

You have previously mentioned, several times, holidays you created for yourself that you celebrate now instead of the holidays you were brought up celebrating. I respect it, I respect it. But as a person whose love language is giving gifts to the people I love based on their interests, I have to know... do any of these holidays you've created involve gift giving?
BILBO'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
It's a work in progress, so traditions are not set, but because it's actually celebrating both him and Frodo at the same time, and the hobbits are great party people, I figured it was a lovely way to add a celebration that includes the usual call for big festivities. So yes, big yummy meals, large gatherings, and exchanging gifts are all in order, possible dressing up and maybe a DND one shot are some things I've considered too, but of course any LOTR fan is welcome to create their own traditions around it in the spirit of all things Tolkien.
Current holidays so far:
March 15 - The Ides of March. Traditions include getting a tattoo and/or piercing in the event of "getting stabbed", buying Little Caesars pizza
June - Pride Month. Self explanatory.
June 19 - Juneteenth. I'm white and currently don't have any black friends to celebrate with; hopefully that changes. I either donate or support black owned businesses or charity foundations.
August 23 - Chandrayaan-3 Moon Landing Day. Yay space! But specifically landing on the dark side of the moon. Space themed activities encouraged. This is, of course, very new.
September 22 - Bilbo and Frodo's birthday. Food, friends, gifts, general geeky shit of the Jirt nature.
October 9 - Indigenous Peoples Day. Once again, I'm white, so there's not exactly any cultural traditions I've felt appropriate to take part in. I try either donating or supporting indigenous owned businesses or charity foundations. I typically will get something from Ioway Bee Farm.
October 31 - Halloween/Samhain. I mean, that's the accepted time of year. I personally just enjoy Halloween spirited things year round, but October especially is when I can get other people in on the bit. It's Espooky Gay Pride!
November 24 - Native American Heritage Day. Same as October 9th.
New Years Eve - Self explanatory.
This list will certainly be added to and edited in the future. The attitude behind creating these new traditions is to decolonize and de-Christianize the nature of my celebrations. I'm happy to share these with other people and encourage everyone to find a way to celebrate and commemorate life and their beliefs in a way that truly harmonizes with their ideals and their loved ones. If anything here doesn't jive with you, no worries! There's plenty of existing holidays, both religious and secular, to take part in, so long as they're done respectfully. Creating your own is one of the best things about life, IMO. No one can take that away from you.
