‘The Genius of Connecticut Statue’

Connecticut’s State Capitol building holds a variety of historical pieces, informing visitors on what life was like many years ago during the times of the World War. This angelic statue titled ‘The Genius of Connecticut’ is one of these historical pieces and is a duplicate of the original statue that stands in the North Lobby. It is said that this upgraded sculpture will soon be placed on the Capitol building’s dome in the future, just as the old one did many years ago.

2016年に発生した熊本地震…その時，阿蘇神社は甚大な被害を受けました．

周辺の被害と比べて特に酷かったこともあり，“神様が厄災を引き受けて下さった…”という話まで出た程です．

そんな中，倒壊部分の復旧作業が程なく始まったのですが，楼門は重要文化財ということもあって慎重な復旧工事を余儀なくされました．

時は流れて…今年(2023年)楼門の復旧工事がようやく終わり，現在“阿蘇復興ちょうちん祭り”なるイベントが行われています(2023.12.17まで)．

前置きが長くなりましたが，今回の写真はそんなイベントでのライトアップです．

提灯の迫力に圧倒されそうですが，この提灯一つ一つにそれぞれ願いや想いが込められていると思うと，阿蘇神社はみんなに愛されているんだなぁと再認識させられます．

12月17日までと期間は短いですが，機会がありましたら足を運んでみてはいかがですか？
