ID: Two pictures of modded iPod Minis with 256gb of storage. The first one is blue. The second is silver. End ID.

mini mods!! these are pretty simple once you know how to get into them.

both of them are gen 2 minis, which tend to have a slightly better battery life and have a "stable" storage limit around 256gb.

the blue one will be going to a friend, who supplied the pod for me. as for the silver one, it looks like i still need to format it for windows, but then it will be good to go!

you can do these mods, too! if you've got a mini lying around or want to buy an old, broken one off ebay, i always plug the ifixit guides.

I’ve been meaning to write an iPod obit for the past few weeks but I kept forgetting to and getting busy.

Poor, poor iPod Classic. 160 gigs of musical satisfaction. Bold metallic with a perfect red click wheel. You shielded me from sterile “have fun while you work” radio and crappy “Christian contemporary” songs piped in at the thrift store. And you survived many a fall, until I dropped you flat on your face outside the student center after lunch one day and had to run a fancy diagnostic test to determine that, alas, your hard drive was f-r-i-e-d. Bummer.

Now you have a worthy successor. A beautiful iPod mini, coated in one of the best forms of the color blue possible, loaded with 256 whopping gigabytes. It’s smaller and probably less prone to going to crap if dropped. I’ll probably never actually buy an iPod Sock. But I will be much more careful in the meantime.
